This one place is like a comfort place for me. Have been visiting this place for almost 8 years and every time it is a great experience.
Favoretes of mine are Surf & Turf, which is Joe's original, Tandoori Chicken, Stuff Mushroom again an original of Joe, chilli fish, stuff papodams, etc.
And must try desserts are Banoffie pie.
Definitely a place to relax and unwind wid sum awesum music by Seby and Elston on Saturdays dis place comes alive the decor and the ambience is wonderful so is the menu typical Goan food wid sum interesting dishes as well! Will definitely recommend it to everyone!
Located besides a river this restaurant serves the best seafood. I would rate the ambiance a 5 of 10 and food 6 of 10. Overall it’s a worth visit.
We reached the place after a long walk from radisson blu and landed up at 10.30pm, at first the serving staff head said the place is going to shut soon so order fast. Anyways we were very hungry so quickly ordered food. The food arrived very soon, our order was mostly seafood which was so tasty that it was worth the 3km walk. The fried prawns was very fresh and tasty, the food portion size is really worth the money. The icing on the cake and that enhanced our experience was the lovely retro songs being played. Made me wanna get up and dance. Overall a very good experience and would recommend this place to all. 3 cheers for this restaurant owner and the chef 👏👏👏

Enjoyed the food here plus the ambience of this place is good as it is located Riverside. So here I tried fish fingers which was served with mayo dip. They tasted really good and the quantity was also fair enough.

Great restaurant in Cavelossim set aside a river giving it a picturesque view. We went as a group of 30 people and their service was just amazing. They served us buffet containing Butter Chicken, Chicken 65, Veg Kofta and Kadhai Paneer. For the starters we had Mushroom Cutlets, Fries, Chicken Cutlet, hariyali Kebab. The starters were good, and buffet was fine as well, considering the price and variety it was a bang for the buck. For desserts they served ice cream.
My go to place . This is nice for a relaxed evening, unless there is a private function then it's loud. The sausage cheese naan is my favourite here
Had been yesterday - yes there was a bit of wait time, a bit of chaos as well but the food and ambience along with an honest effort from the staff to make you happy ensures you ignore all of it particularly if that’s the last Sunday of the year😊😊 We had stuffed mushrooms, fish finger and chicken cheese kebab which were juiciest to the last bite along with a perfect mojito and pinacolada all within 1k ... plus a lively live performance made the evening quite a memorable one ! Must visit for all foodies is what I would say ! It’s too good to be missed.

Love the ambience. Came here for my farewell lunch with my work team. We ordered stuffed mushroom, butter garlic squids and tandoori chicken which were awesome except the stuffed crabs- really a downer, did not like as it was too dry and tasted stale. We also had cheese garlic naan, butter chicken and chicken patiala. Everything in main course was really tasty except The ch.patiala which was almost tasteless, did not like it at all.
Chicken Cafreal, and Stuffed Mushrooms were by far the best dishes we had at Joe’s. A little busy on weekends and hard to get a good table.

Decent place for seafood. Located right after the assolna-cavelossim bridge, this place is usually crowded with localities. The view of river sal from the restaurant is a big plus. Food is pretty decent and the service is real quick. The rawa fried prawns and chicken lollipop are a must try.

We had gone here on Sunday..its in assolna.really an awesome place with scenic view.we had gone in afternoon so it wasn't very cool but the cool breeze on the banks of the river just adds to the day..for starters we ordered butter garlic squids which is one of the best I have tasted till now..we also had prawns roll and some orange drink for appetizer. Well if you're heading towards the assolna - cavelossim Bridge just for a day out, then you might wana stop by this restaurant by the river. Lovely place to be. No fancy air-conditioned restaurant. Joe's River Cove has a lovely view of the river, no matter where you sit! Undoubtely,the ambience is great. As far as the food is concerned it's good too. Nothing spectacular though. The batter fried squids were too rubbery. The chicken cheese kebab was decent. The had quick service. Overall a nice laidback dining experience

A pleasant retreat on the bank of a river, Joe's River Cove is one of my favourite.
It has an ambience akin to some of the best places in Goa. The food is great in taste and also pocket friendly.
You only have to travel to this cove in the quiet part of Cavelossim. This can get difficult as transportation options are limited.
Arrange a vehicle to reach here. There is ample parking space as well.

Prawn curry rice was very tasty but unfortunately the prawns were not clean’t and that doesn’t go down well with me.

This place has it all with great food, great ambiance, friendly staff and it's a bit light on the pocket too. The place is situated next a river or should I say a pond but that in no means takes anyway from the ambiance this place has. You could try anything from the great seafood to the tandoor and also their signature mushroom dish.
Went for lunch on a Sunday afternoon. The restaurant at the river side was very beautiful. It was crowded and raining too. Food was tasty and value for money. The main thing I felt bad was the service. Even though there were enough staffs manning the place, there was chaos at the place. One of my order dint reach the kitchen. We had to keep reminding them off each and every thing. Hope they improve on this aspect.

Among restaurants situated at river front, this is pocket friendly resto I've ever come across. Though they offer fresh sea food, Malai chicken kebab and cheese garlic naan is a must in my order list. Calm ambiance. I found that most of their dishes have sweet taste. Places like these are the essence of Goa. A must visit place if you really want to try out seafood. You'll be amazed by the variety they offer. Though their menu isn't fixated to seafood I would seldom opt for chicken at this place. Ordered batter fried squids, butter garlic prawns and Tandoori Squids. Squids being one of my favorite seafoods I always expect them to be good and this place lived up to my expectations. The tandoori squids were slightly undercooked but it didn't make a huge difference. The quantity of butter garlic prawns wasn't worth the price. Coming to the ambiance, a place with a raftered roof and water flowing alongside makes for perfect spot for me to have my lunch/dinner.
Located by the riverside, this outdoor resto has a variety of savouries to offer. Been here a couple of times! There are things I like and don't like about this place.
Coming to the good part first. Their Cheese Malai Chicken tandoori is absolutely delicious! And so is their stuffed mushrooms. Seafood items are pretty darn good too. As is expected from its location. The Rawa fried mussels and batter fried calamari are amazing too. Sausage naan is good too.
On the flip side, their crispy honey chicken is disappointing. Ordered it twice at different times, giving it a chance, and at both times there wasn't a single hint of honey in it. Their Indian curries are pretty average. Among the mocktails, the orange one (Riverside float, I guess), the combination didn't make sense. Wasn't crazy about the Mickey mouse mocktail as well.
Overall it's a hit and a miss. However, if you choose wisely, you won't be disappointed.

However we did face a little difficulty as were visiting in Monsoons and since this place is near water, insects and creepy crawlies would were in abundance.

The place is located by the riverside, ambience is above average and so is the food.. But this is a definitely the most pocket friendly place when compared to the rest of the restaurants in and around cavelossim.. We ordered a butter garlic calamari, a plate of honey chilli chicken and a couple of drinks.. Sevice was quick.. The live music was definitely a mood lifter and a lot of people also participated in the karaoke sessions..a good place if you want some good food/drinks and a very pocket friendly prices.. Good work, just improve the ambience and this might be the next big thing.

We had been here on Friday night 17-02-2017 and again on Saturday night. The place was crowded on both the occassions but on Saturday it was just too much for them to handle. We had to locate the servers couple of times as they were lost in keeping track of so many guests. So the service at peak hours definately needs improvement.
Coming to food we tried pork chilly, prawns balchao, stuffed mushrooms, prawns curry, grilled pork chops, and all the items entertained taste buds. Very good preparation and taste. Also tried the caramal custard dessert and it was ok. Drinks were good and priced nicely.
Coming to ambience, the river side feel gives it a very good touch and makes you feel like an outside India dining experience. Live music also helps in lightening up the mood. Ambient lighting on the river side bushes gives a nice touch.
All in all a very good place, but make sure you visit well ahead of peak hours.
Visited this place seeing zomato yet I think I got much more than what I expected. The local cuisine was really delicious we tried the crab xec xec and relished on it. The sarpotel and rice and equally tasty. Surf and turf was a sea food salad but loved the taste and presentation. Would definitely recommend to people visiting south Goa.
Had a wonderful time spent at Cola beach before coming in...The whole restaurant is open with a bar. The place turns quite dark in the night and do not have enough lights to cover it, that's why they preferred candles. As it is near a river-turned-sewer, there were mosquitoes all around, which was a liability. The food and the bar had excellent choices in cuisines and drinks.
Ordered pork vindaloo. One of the best places I've had it in Goa with all the right spices. Most places the chilliness is just not right. Other than the food the location is just beautiful. With the restaurant right on the river banks the venue could not get any better

The USP of this place is the picturesque view of the river. The river is so near to the seatings that just sitting there is an experience in itself. It's not enclosed by any walls by any side so it really feels pleasant sitting by the vicinity of the river. What impressed me even more than this was the pricing.
This being my first place of dining out in Goa, the prices just blew me away. Not only drinks, but the food was cheap as well. The list of items that I tried are as follows:
•Cream Of Chicken Soup: 4.5/5
Thick creamy soup with shreds of chicken & some cream on top. Tasted quite buttery but it made complete justice to the name.
• Prawns in Butter Garlic: 4/5
Large sized prawns butter fried in abundant chopped garlic. They gave it with some nice salad & both tasted decent without being too heavy.
•Honey Schezwan Crispy Chicken: 3.5/5
It wasn't bad at all. But according to chinese standards it wasn't exactly of the same taste which I had expected. But it tasted pretty alright nonetheless.
•Masala Fried Kingfish: 3.5/5
Sleek slices of kingfish with red masala smothered all over. I actually wanted to order for rawa fried kingfish but thought this one would be rawa fried as well but with some extra masala. But anyway, I wont blame them for my lack of understanding.
•Fish Ambotik Curry: 4/5
Runny fish curry with the perfect balance of sour and spice. Must have if you're a fan of fish curries.
•Prawns Balchao: 3.5/5
Red spicy curry with small sized prawns having a mild flavour of vinegar. This one wasn't thick as well but tasted good with rice.
•Butter Garlic Naan: 5/5
Ultimate show stealer. Absolutely loved this. Even if you avoid naans like me, you should make an exception and have this one, you won't regret even one bit.
•Tandoori Roti: 4/5
The diameter of this roti was extra large. Good for people with great appetite.
• Plain steamed rice: 5/5
With some extra gravy remaining, we opted for plain rice to have with it. The rice was served hot & fresh & probably the best plain rice I had so far in my entire life.
The only missing item in the menu was sol kadhi which I am a biggest fan of. Apart from that every dish was pretty satisfactory, some being quite stellar. Service was decent as well. So next time if anybody happens to ask me some great places in Goa, this would definitely be somewhere on top of the list.

In my opinion, we got the best seats in the restaurant, on the deck next to a distributary of river sal. The food was very good but quantity was missing for the price. The service was quick and well responsive. I would recommend pre booking as the restaurant was jam packed when we went there and we probably got the last table.

Must try place if you're in South Goa. Close to the resorts, next to the Sal river (like right next to it) with some soothing music, it's a great place that's humbly done. The seafood is great. Above all, it's not really expensive, and eating next to the river is quite magical. Also, Joe, the owner a very nice man.

Stuffed mushrooms & Prawns Manchurian is what i would like to suggest if anyone is about to visit this place. As far as cuisine is concerned, River cove is not a bad option to choose. Wanted to try some good family place where the ambience is lively, food is good, good options to choose from different cuisines and of course a sea food place... Goa without sea food is a strict no no for me... We were staying down south in Goa at the Radisson Blu.. It was kind of late and we first thought of driving down to Martin's corner which is a good 40 mins drive ... The staff at the hotel suggested Joe's Cove... My wife is not big time into sea food so I was hoping it had some good chicken options ... We landed here... Nice lively music ... Right next to the river ... It was just a 5 minute drive from the hotel... To my surprise the parking was full... About 25 cars parked or so... This place felt like in the middle of nowhere .. South goa is peaceful and you do not find it crowded and packed like north goa...
Anyways we have our luck a try .. My wife ordered butter nan's .. Chicken malai tikka... I picked on rawa fried fish .. Surmai ( Kingfish) ..and garlic prawns semi gravy with chicken fried rice ... And a Virgin Mohito ..lot of food ...
The service was lightening quick ... The food pipping hot.. Could not complain on the service... The portions were very generous ... I knew if I was to stuff everything down I would have a hard time walking back to my car :-)...
The rawa fish were 2 good plate size pieces of fish .. Nice thin and coated very nicely.. Absolutely fresh and amazingly tasty .. Loved it... The prawns could have been a bit better.. We're a bit too thickly coated when fried ... Could not feel the crunchiness .. The malai tikka was absolutely amazing ... The Mohito could have been better for the price .. A bit pricey when you compare with the food..
At the end we just hit 4 digits on our bill :-) .. Extremely economical...

Amazing place to dine at in the South. Very peaceful and lovely ambience. It's situated perfectly overlooking the river and I'd say the setting is perfect for romantic dates. However it's a perfectly good place for families too. Tried some of their beef starters and fish, liked what I had. The service is swift and overall a pleasant experience.

I happen to live fairly nearby, so I have eaten here a good dozen times.
To start with it should be noted that most of the year the adjacent "Cove" is highly impacted by the tide. At low tide we call it Joe's Swamp Cove and it's not nearly as pleasant. In the monsoon it's pleasant around the clock, otherwise check the tides, if it's extremely low tide, don't go for the ambience.
Having said that, it's really worth visiting. The crowd is 80-90% local Goans, despite being near Cavelossim which has a lot of foreign tourism.
Food-wise, I'll start with what to avoid. Pizza is not their strength and the crab dishes are a lot of work for very little meat.
Their strength is Chinese and tandoor. The tandoori pork is fantastic. It's glazed with a sweet/savory/spicy bbq sauce and really nice, not-too-fatty pieces of boneless pork cooked in skewers. I've had it be a bit tough, but in general it's the best item on their menu.
Their traditional Goan fare is good-not-great in my experience. Starters and Chinese are where we've been most satisfied. The honey crispy chicken is another favorite of my kids.
This restaurant located on the banks of river Sal has a breathtaking view and an appealing ambiance. The rates are reasonable and service is average. Their chicken cheese Malai tandoori is a bomb. The chicken chilly fry, Caesar salad, any seafood ( my favourite- prawns, squids and mussels) in masala fry and prawn curry rice is recommended for the mains. In Chinese the chicken chilly tastes nice. Avoid ordering the prawns stuffed papads and Singapore chicken, it tastes pathetic.
This place is known for its amazing view of the river. If you're having dinner, the river isn't visible in the dark but there are pretty lights on the other side of the river, so the view is good during the day as well as night. It has a very pretty ambience. Food is also well cooked and well priced, and the service is good.

Had an amazing lunch at Jose River Cove in Goa today!
The restaurant's serene atmosphere by the water added to the overall experience. The view was breathtaking, and we even celebrated our sir's birthday there. A perfect blend of good food and a great ambiance!

It's beside a beautiful lake and oh my what delicious food!! Must try items - stuffed mushroom, prawns butter garlic and also if you are a crab fan then stuffed crabs too!

We were wandering in Cavelossim for a place to dine in and spotted this beauty by the riverside. Decided to give it a go.
Nice, quiet ambience. Well lit up and soft music added to the charm. Now about the food. We tried prawns masala fry and loved it. Pricing wise too this place is quite reasonable. This place is easy to spot and has plenty of parking available. If you are in this area I'd definitely recommend you to try this place out.

We enjoyed the Stuffed Mushrooms, Bombil Rava Fry, Prawn Fry, Chicken Tikka Masala and Naans.
The ambience is very relaxed. You can watch the Sal river flow by as you eat. They serve alcohol and food. The food is good. I won't call it the greatest but it's not bad at all.
They serve veg and non veg food.
Great place if you want to get a feel of live music with decent food.
The live music had lot of Goan / English songs , which was unique.
Prawns fried rice / stuffed mushrooms and stuffed crab were amazing.
The pomfret tandoor fish and prawns clear soup could have been better.

Delicious food at an affordable price. The ambience is awesome. A must visit place along with the family. The place is baby friendly too.

The food is really good 👍 with a nice and peaceful atmosphere. The place was clean and looked really beautiful. Overall it's a nice place to spend time with family and friends, especially for lunch and dinner.
Great place for seafood and authentic goan food. The food is well priced and this place has that perfect charm with those lights in the evening. There are one man bands playing here on weekends so you can enjoy your dinner while listening and dancing to their beats. Ample of parking space is available.

Good experience. Beautiful place. Also hosts functions. The food was good, except for the pizza (do not order, it's home made and doesn't taste good ) , drinks were inexpensive. They lack enough fans and it was very sultry, I hope they can change that soon. Overall a good experience to visit.
This place we randomly bumped in while travelling on bikes of south Goa road, and a happy surprises are always brings big smile on your face… Food 🍱 Ambiance and the view was amazing… we really spent a good time out here … it’s a good place to have food and the staff is too cooperative… very happy to be here
