When you are in chandannagar, never miss the sweets over there and to satisfy your tastebuds, do visit this place. The sweet that require mention is the "Jol bhora". Simply can't describe it through words but just give it a try. Apart from that, baked rosogolla, rabdi deserves special mention. Other sweets are also good.
Please visit this place during the winters when the jaggery(nolen gur) is freshly available.

Surya Kumar Modak is an iconic sweets store in Chandannagore, the land of French during colonial India. They excel in nolen gurer misti. Jalbhara is their speciality, smallest size costs Rs 42 per piece. Price wise Surya Kumar Modak is pretty costly, and taste wise top notch!! They also have their other specialities like Motichur Sandesh, Aam Sandesh and Khirpully Sandesh.

Jalbhara Surya Kumar Modak is a well-known confectionery located at Chandannagar, named after the eponymous sweet maker of Eastern India in the early 19th century known for inventing sandesh with rose syrup poured inside in the year 1818, popularly known as Jalbhara Talsansh Sandesh.
They are also known for their other amazing sweetmeats such as the Aam Sandesh, Motichur Sandesh, Kheerpulli Sandesh, Rajnandini, Amrito Paturi, Rabdi and Chanar Payesh.
Though have had their sweets in the past, but recenty after a long time their Jalbhara Sandesh simply tasted superb, probably the best of the kind available anywhere. Winters in Bengal are incomplete without Nolen Gur sweets and delicacies and the silken smooth Nolen Gur texture of the Jalbhara Talsansh Sandesh filled with juicy golden liquid jaggery inside tasted heavenly.
For those fond of traditional or modern Bengali sweets Surya Kumar Modak is a must try. 👍🏻

One of the gems of suburbs, whose fame has reached every corner of Kolkata. Their speciality is the Jolbhora sandesh. The regular version is fine, but in winter, it is something else. When you give the bite, and the nolen gur starts dripping out of the middle, if that's not heaven, i dunno what is. Rest of the sweets are pretty good too.

This is my all time favourite sweet shop to have "Jol Bhora Shondesh". I always try this sweet dish whenever I visit Chandannagar. The shop is just beside the GT road which is really easy to locate. Last time I got Jol Bhora Shondesh and Makha Shondesh . Both of them tasted so amazing. Would recommend everyone to try the Jol Bhora Shondesh atleast once.

Surjya Kumar Modak sweets shop is famous for ''Jolbhora Sandesh''. It is the one of the oldest sweets shop in Chandannagar. Creating an oasis by pouring Rose Syrup inside the sandesh was the main invention of Surjya Kumar Modak in the year 1818. ... West Bengal in East Indian period. The name of the newly invented sandesh was Jalbhora Talsansh Sandesh. Now it more popular by name Jalbhora Sandesh. Surjya Kumar Modak also invented Motichur Sandesh , Aam Sandesh , Khirpully Sandesh . They have many sweets variety and maintain a very high standard in terms of quality.

Famous for their Jolbhora Sandesh it is one of the oldest shops in chandannagar (basically everyone over here knows about this place). They offer a variety of sweets and maintain a very high standard in terms of quality. They have 4-5 outlets around this area (two of them are in 5 minutes walking distance). If you like sweets then you can definitely visit this place. Although all the outlets don't keep the same variety of sweets, this one on GT Road is probably the best and the oldest shop.

The famous sweet shop at Chandannagar khown to be the actual creator of "Jholbhora" sweet. Amazing spread of variety of sweets mostly made of various forms of milk. Unmatchable flavour and taste.

Considering the variety , quality and innovative ideas it is no doubt the no 1 sweet shop in Chandannagar-Bhadreswar area. They have introduced the famous Jal-Bhora Sandesh. Even these days they are introducing new and unique Sweets every year. Their quality is unparalleled. Jal-Bhara, Chocolate Rosogolla, and other sandesh items are their best products. Inspite of all these, prices of most of the sweets are costly and everyone can not afford the same.

Lot of delicious options. Your mind will be puzzle which one to leave or pick. I took the Gurer (jaggery) Jal bhora in 3 different size. Apart from that i took some of the sweet which has a layer of khir, or cream. Different flavored rassogilla. You will also find other regular sweet. It's on the Main road. Traveling by car is challenging. If you have to purchase in bulk or gifting then I'll strongly recommend. I'll return to this shop to try further option.

Many locals would recommend you this place if you ask for good mithai (sweets) shops. The establishment is impressive and impressive is array of sweets they have. Going by the crowds thronging the place you can correctly assume it is popular place, Even locals , and a number of those i talked to, admit prices are high and popular sweet shops are much hyped charging irrational premium on their sweets. Same stuff, rather better one, is available at number of small tucked away sweet shops, they claim. Only if you know some local n who can guide you to those hidden gems! Till then, happy shopping of Bengali Sweets at such places offering good variety and good stuff at a premium many people appear willing to bear!!!

One of the finest places that you can satisfy your sweet tooth, the quality is just top notch. Their speciality lies in their roshomalais. Especially try out the baked roshomalai and the rajo roshomalai, a never before experience for me and this got me hooked. Also they have a lot of sandesh and other desserts to try out. Skip on the roshogollas though, they were pretty average. Most of the sweets are Rs. 25 and above, but they are truly worth their price and worth the journey if you are coming from a bit far away. This is somewhere I am looking forward to visit again soon, they got me hooked.

When you make Jalbhara of such class, nothing else matters. Service, atmosphere, etc are not the best. But what you get here, especially the varieties of Jalbhara, are undoubtedly way above the rest.

Apparently they are the creators of Jolbhora sandesh, and if so they have done the most fantastic job at it. More so, they have multiple varieties of sweets and all that I tasted were very high quality.Price is obviously on the higher side, although that is justified by the I Love SKM banner they have installed at their house/shop(which are generally used to reflect cities or constituencies😄)

One of the most famous destination for 'jolbhora talsas' misty. During winter, the inner juice is replaced by molasses which tastes fantastic. In one word, one can have awesome feeling while having this sweet. Those the outlet has other sweets as well, but it is known for the one mentioned. This outlet is there by the GT Road and is walkable from Baburbajar more and around 5..8 mins biking distance from Jyotir more. But the outlet is small and there is not much space for the visitors. The sweets are extremely costly compared to size. May be the minimum size of the jolbhora sweet starts from 40/- which is really exorbitant.
