I have been to this place so many times that I cannot even give a number. Whenever I’m not sure what to order, I order veg biryani. I don’t believe that if you’re a non vegetarian, you only order non vegetarian biryani or that veg biryani is nothing but pulaao. Not at Chawla’s. At Chawla’s it’s a mouth watering dish which never goes wrong. You have to trust me on this and try their Veg Biryani.
Visit many a times here.. dere cream chicken is at there best.. its too yumm.. nd different taste. One should try. Ambience is nt dat good.. but one should try there chicken
When will it open sir. We are waiting for the past 1 month.. please tell us exactly when will it open.. please the snacks are the best in town
Ordered cream chicken and butter naan from here a few days back and it was super yumm!
Just that I felt the gravy was too little considering the number of chicken pieces.

quantity quality was owesome
cream chicken was awesome and so was the pamper dish.. value for money
The momos paneer as well as chicken were delicious. They were very well cooked.
The best momos in the city.
food quality is good. specially chicken and garlic naan.
All of us know about the famous Chawla's cream chicken which is really good but apart from that Chawla's sector 8 has a variety of dishes which one would fall in love with. All the tandoori snacks are great and so are the main course dishes. Must try for all good lovers..... do try the Afghani Chicken.....
Wen it comes to chawla only one thing in mind is cream chicken n malai kofta must try one of d oldest outlet in sec 8 for premium indian authentic food
Preparations are great
Good taste of main course
Thumbs down for the cold breads and late delivery
Kindly work on this
Tip: you can think to attach the delivery boxes behind two wheelers so that food can be served hot.
A nice, clean, simple and good dining experience. In the hustling market of sector 8, Chawla's is kind of an oldie looking place, something from a bygone era. Simple seating, old school lighting, no shenanigans what so ever. Its due to all this it seems not so appealing. But you got to try the food here. Amazing is the word. I had a pudhina parantha, kadhai paneer and malai kofta and have nothing to complain about. Except maybe the salad was not that great, but thats a side thing, what you oder is what you get in good quantity and tasty. Good place to eat indian any time of the week.
I'm sure many of you might have heard about this place that they serve the best cream chicken and rightly so. They expertise in that. But rest of the food items are average and normal. Decor is not that great too but cream chicken with bread just steals the show

Chicken lovers hub .
The sitting area is much hygienical than pal . The ambiance is a dim lit restaurant . The decor is average nothing fancy abt it .
Located in the heart of the market mostly orders are take away or home delivery .
The dishes to relish are butter chicken , raara chicken , chicken tikka butter masala , cream chicken . In veg dal makhani & paneer dishes . U can select from variety of indian breads like naan , butter naan , missi roti or even plain roti .
A four point five just for their food.. amazing and authentic traditional Indian food.. had their kalmi kabab.. succulent and creamy you are bound to enjoy this kabab.. with each bite you can tell the tenderness of the meat and how well cooked it is.. bravo.. a dish I will remember.. next is cream chicken.. again wow.. not overtly spiced but just mildly flavoured.. good to go with any breads.. butter chicken is good.. authentic flavour.. will remind u of traditional Indian cooking.. if u love chicken and the tandoor you can't afford to miss this place.. Only negative is consistency.. sometimes they cook not so well and dishes will taste different on different days or outlets.. but overall good.. will order frequently..

Nice & decent outlet in the middle of the market . Non veg dishes are the 1s to cherish but don't worry veggies people their veg options like dal & paneer dishes are a good option. But i havent seen much busy sitting as its mostly take away or home delivery.
Great place for friends and family to have lunch and dinner. The menu is full of great and tasty dishes. We loved the cream Paneer and cream chicken 🍗 here. Whenever we are near this place we always prefer to eat here. Great place.
We got their butter chicken boneless and butter naan packed, to eat at home. Both the items were above average. The preparation time was quite fast.
A nice experience. I had my first meal in Chandigarh over here. Had read about the Afghani Chicken and Cream Chicken and ordered the same. Both of them were good. Cream Chicken wasn't as heavy as it usually is in Delhi. Dal Tadka was good as well and served really hot.
Service was average, they brought the wrong dal initially. Changed it without any issues. Order took a while to arrive.
Lights were too dim and the place wasn't that spacious.
All in all, a place you can visit to enjoy a nice chicken meal in Chandigarh.
Good place for having chicken and lunch, the curry chicken is too good, the Chinese snacks and fried rice make an awesome combination. Bad points are that no pickle is served, the ambiance is too dingy. Could be made more lively. Nice place for punjabi non veg food.
Those times when you crave something spicy and "mazedaar" thats when you visit Chawla's!
I have been visiting this place for about 3 years now , and my all day everyday order is the chicken or the Paneer momos. The waiter comes out and takes our order (eating in the car is the best) , takes about 15 mins and voila , I see the hot mouthwatering momos with the out of the world chilli sauce (get a coke along pls) The main course here is just like any other fancy Indian restaurant but the appetizers are AMAZING , great place to be with your family and friends.

I had heard such great reviews about this place that soared my expectations about the famous chawla's cream chicken plummeted after having it. It was okayish. Daal makhni was nice and the murg kadhai was good. The paneer do piaza and the breads were fine too.
This is a simple local place thats not fancy but it's clean. The service is simple and relaxed no one is in a rush here, but where is service efficient in Chandigarh?! The chicken is delicious, the butter chicken is great, and the murg malai chicken tikka melts in your mouth, it's delicious. I particularly love the paneer dishes esp the paneer tikka butter masala.
This is a desi place don't expect the Chinese food ( which is yummy) to be authentic, it's good old Indo-chinese fare. The soups too are a firm favourite in winter.
The only downside is the delivery, the availability and speed depends on the time of day you call and how busy they are, so there are times when I've had to pick up. Consistently tasty food!
Small restaurant nestled between some stores in sector 8 market, this restaurant got back memories of the 'original' chawla cream chicken... very tasty and pieces of chicken so tender and soft that they would melt in your mouth... the rotis were hot and served well and we had one waiter to us (only 3 tables were occupied for lunch in the restaurant at 4 pm)... i ill go for this anyday...
this is not a fine dining place and all you would get is good chicken and some cold drinks...
go to this place for cream chicken, rest can be on the peripheries..
If you are in chandigarh & you have mot tried cream chicken from Chawla's, you ate really missing something in life. Juicy chicken loaded with cream & black paper is treat to your taste buds. One cream chicken & tandoori roti, you ate sorted.
Remember Cream Chicken & Tandoori Roti ...
Surely the place is quite run down, dimly lit and classless. Not a place where you should be ordering the soup or a russian salad. But Chawlas does live up to its name and reputation when it comes to the die hard chicken dishes done the desi style. Be it the Rarha chicken or the Handi, the tikkas or the kebabs. Good quality, just the right amount of spice and consistency makes this joint worth the while. Home delivery is the way to go if you don't like dining out in not too pleasant surroundings.
Just ordered a boneless chicken. Earlier even I had food from this place, always filling and tasty. Delivery depends on time and day you order.
Happy eating :)
The ambience is okay.
We chose a talumein soup and paneer momos. The service was quick. I enjoyed the soup. But the momos were not like how momos should be. It had a weird desi twist. The filling tasted like that of homemade paneer patties.
The rates are reasonable.
This place is known for chicken dishes.
Let's start by admitting that we are regulars at Chawlas. So much so that the waiters can guess what we might order. The reason is simple. The restaurant is very consistent in delivering quality. The food almost tastes the same each time.
Chawlas is not the restaurant you go to for ambiance or decor. They have a TV blaring all the time whenever you may visit. This is a place you simply go to for the love of food. The house speciality is Cream Chicken. I am frankly not in awe of it. What I recommend is the Murg Afghani. The Tandoori Chicken is decent as well.
Among the curries the Kadahi Chicken and Butter Chicken is good as well. On this particular visit we ordered Paneer Tikka Irani, Murg Afghani, Kadahi Chicken and Naan.
Our kebabs came first and they were delicious. Loved the spiciness of the Paneer Achari Tikka and the contrast offered by the Murg Afghani. The Murg Afghani has the most delicious chicken mince stuffing. Simply a must try.
The Kadahi Chicken was good as well but the Naan was a bit insipid. So what's the upside? Good food. The downside no acceptance of cards, no toilet and no place to wash your hands. Be content with finger bowls with a wedge of lime. Which is very old world and nice. All in all recommended and won't break your bank.
Loved it , good service good preparation and homely .
The Chicken Momos were of the biggest size I have seen in Chandigarh and the chicken quantity in the momos was also very good.
Tried the speciality cream chicken and butter nan and surprisingly it was very tasty and light.
But very crowded and loud for dining with family especially if you are into fine- dining.
Overall very very good
I would say this is the original chawla's.
Authentic Indian food, great preparation, great quality and reasonable price. It beats the need of buffet system.
My #1 place in Chandigarh when it comes to having Butter Chicken! Enough said.
The only place where you'll find excellent momo's . The food overall is good .
Favourite eating out place in chandigarh.
There butter chicken and cream chicken are awesome.
Reasonable prices, no frill place
to eat.
Generally with small Indian restaurant the consistency in terms of taste and texture does not remain the same over the passage of time. Sometimes the food comes out mind blowing, others just plain terrible. Once I like a dish, I always try to include the same dish in my meal and I observe such vast differences in the flavours, colours and quality of ingredients each time that I'm starting to think the chefs that work in Indian restaurants each have their own take on the dishes and therefore there is no consistency in terms of what to expect a certain dish to taste like on a certain evening. Either it could be a very hit or a bad miss indeed. But in my opinion its is plainly unacceptable to find that the same dish gets a different taste and flavours each time in order.
The food at Chawlas is always mind-blowing and unforgettable, and undeniably one of the best cooked in town. The prices are reasonable for the portions provided. Try their Murg-Makhni, Paneer-tikka-irani, dal for mains and steamed Momos for snacks. You will find here what an Indian taste should be like. Once you eat here, you eat replicas of some dishes served here in other restaurants you will never the taste coming even a slight close to it. Further this is one of those few restaurants where the same dishes have tasted exactly the same for years and really that's the kind of consistency restaurants should offer, especially if they want to keep regular customers.
The restaurant can get really loud if it's packed, so it might not be a good dating place or couple dinner sorts. Once it starts packing up, the place starts to get noisier and noisier. With these of restaurants and such strong clientele such characteristics are expected. Their strong clientele gets served either inside or outside in the parked cars.
My recommendation, do try this place whenever you have huge cravings for Indian food and you want to get it satisfied with something nice and satisfying within reasonable price.

Hi everyone,
Here's the review of Chawla's restaurant (Sector 8, Inner market) where we must have dined at least 100 times, if not more, over the past many years (including sit-in's and car-park-outside, not to mention night drives to the hills with food from here packed piping hot).
The Quick review:
Food - Excellent (Both Mughlai and some Chinese dishes are great).
If it's Butter chicken or Chilly Chicken, especially with their butter naan's, this right here is the Mecca of no nonsense and hearty food.
Bar - No bar and it doesn't matter. You can get primed and then come here OR you can order their food to be delivered while you sit at home enjoying drinks and cocktails with friends.
Ambience - Very spartan and no-frills. Yet, air conditioned, comfortable and extremely competent where it matters, i.e. food. I couldn't be less bothered if they served their food to me while I sat on the floor. I'd take it in an instant.
Specials - You can dine in OR order via the phone and they deliver the same quality of food at home, in good time.
Value for money - Very good value for money.
Overall - 4.5 out of 5 (I think I owe many hundreds of kilometers of jogging to them and it was totally worth it!! I'll take out half a star for the same though. I hate jogging!).
Advice - Highly recommended. You want unreal butter chicken, chilly chicken or no-holds-barred Butter naans? Well, look no further because this is where it's at. More in the detailed review.
Child friendly? - No. Like I said, it's very basic. No high chairs here. But hey! Bring your own pram or something. It's worth it.
The Not-so-quick review:
Well, what do I say about this place - and this is going to be one of my shorter Not-so-quick reviews really - other than the fact that there are and will continue to be many pretenders to the throne, dozens of old and new places that keep popping up in the city that claim they have the best ambience, the most exciting menu, the most variety of food, live music, lounge, this, that and the other.
The fact of the matter is that this place does not pretend or waste our valuable time with the usual marketing lines and other distractions. You won't see any Bollywood stars coming here for publicity, or some has-been DJ who is made to look like he or she is a more renowned DJ (or way more talented) than they ever were or will be ever. No Sir! This right here is the real deal. If you are looking for a no nonsense, hearty meal, then make sure you have had a light lunch and head straight for Chawla's when it's dinner time. And do remember to bring your friends and family with you so they may thank you later. This is the place where my friends and I truly experimented with Mughlai and Chinese food and ended up creating a monster many years ago (back in 2001, I think) - The boneless Chilly Chicken and Butter naan roll. One of these babies is enough to guarantee a place in gourmand heaven and your taste buds will be indebted to you forever.
Whenever we want to not waste our time experimenting or trying out a new place, we rush to Chawla's like our lives depend upon it (Come to think of it, at that time, our lives do actually depend upon it) and we are now at a place and time in our lives that the Captain there actually knows what we are going to order. Yes indeed, it's their most inimitable and persistently perfect Butter chicken, the Dal Makhani and their incomparable Butter Naans which are almost a dish by themselves. I am happy to confirm that whenever we have ordered the combination of their Boneless Chilly chicken and Butter naan's, 50% of the time, we have ended up relishing the butter naan's separately, all by themselves, followed by a polishing-off of the Chilly Chicken.
There was a time though, back in the winter of 2012 I think, when the quality of the butter chicken and indeed the Chilly Chicken fluctuated a little. My gang and I immediately suspected the worst (change of chef? WW3? even Armageddon??). We contemplated building a war bunker and even mass suicide but much to our relief, I am happy to report that the situation stabilized soon enough. All was well with the world again.
So for once, leave all your vegan friends behind, stop pretending that you love healthy food for one day, and allow yourself to be pampered as you tread into the 'dark side' and plunge into it headfirst. You will not be disappointed!
Do remember that if you want to avoid gaining weight, you can always jog for 10 kilometers the same morning. Ha ha.
This reminds me. I am writing the world's shortest book on 'How to eat all that you want and still lose weight'. Anyone
can follow the advice therein and be successful. You simply have to run for 1100 kms everyday. ;-)
Cheers to great food, better friends and good times!!!

Chandigarh's hub of sit-in-the-car dining has had one landmark before other businesses bloomed, the restaurant that gave Sector 8 market this status was none other than Chawla's.
The famous chain Punjabis have been long synonymous with finger lickin' Cream Chicken has a few palatable treasures hidden here.
1.Chicken Momos
I bet you a million bucks if you can find Momos this size and so delicious anywhere in the city. I have driven 20kms at times just to let my taste buds have its fair share of soft and tasty steamed preparation. Right from the soft cover to the steamed chicken cooked perfectly added to that the amazing in house chilli sauce. There have been instances where I have chugged bottles of water thanks to the chilli sauce but i didn't stop till I engulfed all 6 on the plate.
2.Cream Chicken
Chawlas and Cream Chicken with lacche paranthe, every Punjabis way to attain Palatal Nirvana, do I say more?
3.Butter Chicken
One of the best made butter chicken, gravy with a tangy to sour taste, thick buttery texture and soft fleshy chicken properly marinated. I am sure cupid played his games when I saw butter chicken coming out of the kitchen.
When you have such good food, you can always let ambiance got out of the window. Value for Money is really good!
So if you have the butter chicken genes of a Punjabi in your DNA, its the best place to go in Chandigarh!
Vegetarian food is very good. I love this place, I often go there after office hours, just like home cooked food
A really amazing place to have food at. You should try it once. Naan were soft and butter chicken was extremely delicious.
Good service...and vegetarian food is just awesome
Great non-veg food. Best was take way.
Fairly good place to eat comfortably.
