It is like a colorful and flowery wonderland. It's huge, with lots of different types of roses from all over the world. When you visit, you can walk around on nice paths and smell the lovely rose scents. There's even a festival sometimes with music and shows. It is a peaceful retreat where you can relax and forget about the city's busy life. It's well-kept, with pretty lawns, swings, fountains, and sculptures. If you love flowers and want a quiet place to chill, Zakir Hussain Rose Garden is the perfect spot in Chandigarh.

Free Entry, Public friendly surrounding, vibrant sceneries and a hell lot of roses. Just a suggestion for staff that some flowers do need a little bit attention.

Chandigarh's Rose Garden is Asia's biggest botanical garden that has been named after India's former President Mr Zakir Hossain. The garden was set up in 1967 and spread over an area of 30 acres. The garden has collection of 50000 rose bushes with 1600 different spices which makes the place unique one. Every year, the popular rose festival begins on feb.17 and concludes on Feb.19. Though I couldn't see the beauty of full blooming garden but landscaping of garden, trees, plants and fountains speaks the story itself. The Garden is not famous for roses only, but also the plants/ trees of medicinal value. Park is good enough for nature lovers, indeed. There are play area, small bridges with walking/jogging tracks and public washrooms. Lots of opportunities for photography. Free entry. Grt place for picnic with family and friends !!!.

The Chandigarh Rose Garden is a mesmerizing and enchanting haven for nature lovers and flower enthusiasts alike. Spanning over 30 acres, this sprawling garden is located in Sector 16 of Chandigarh, India, and is one of the most iconic attractions in the city. As I strolled through its beautiful pathways and surrounded myself with the kaleidoscope of colors, I couldn't help but be captivated by its beauty and serenity. History: The history of the Chandigarh Rose Garden dates back to 1967 when it was conceptualized and created under the guidance of Dr. M.S. Randhawa, the first Chief Commissioner of Chandigarh. The garden was commissioned to commemorate India's independence and was inaugurated in 1967 by the first Prime Minister of India, Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru. Its creation was part of Chandigarh's master plan, designed by the renowned French architect, Le Corbusier. The garden was initially named the "Mughal Garden" but was later renamed as the "Zakir Hussain Rose Garden" in honor of India's former President, Dr. Zakir Hussain. The garden was further expanded and developed, and today, it stands as one of the largest rose gardens in Asia, boasting over 50,000 rose bushes of around 1,600 different varieties. Floral Extravaganza: Stepping into the Chandigarh Rose Garden is like entering a floral wonderland. As the seasons change, the garden transforms with it, showcasing a breathtaking display of roses in various hues and forms. From classic reds and pinks to vibrant yellows, whites, and rare black roses, the garden offers a rich diversity of colors that evoke a sense of awe and delight. The best time to visit the garden is during spring (February to March) and autumn (October to November) when the roses are in full bloom, enveloping the air with their sweet fragrance. The meticulously landscaped pathways lead visitors on a picturesque journey through the garden, allowing for a leisurely and peaceful experience. Tranquility and Recreation: Apart from being a visual treat, the Chandigarh Rose Garden also offers a serene ambiance, making it an ideal spot for relaxation and recreation. Many visitors can be seen sitting on the well-maintained lawns, enjoying picnics with family and friends, or simply finding solace amidst the natural beauty. The garden also serves as a popular spot for morning and evening walks, drawing both locals and tourists seeking a tranquil escape from the hustle and bustle of city life. Cultural Events: The garden serves as a venue for various cultural events, including the annual Rose Festival, which is held in February. During this festival, the garden comes alive with vibrant celebrations, musical performances, and competitions, attracting visitors from all over the country. In conclusion, the Chandigarh Rose Garden is a delightful oasis that showcases the artistry of nature and the legacy of a well-planned city. Whether you are a nature enthusiast, a photography lover, or simply seeking a peaceful retreat, a visit to this magnificent garden is an experience that will leave an everlasting impression on your heart and soul.

Zakir Hussain Rose Garden is very nice and special place to visit in Chandigarh. The garden is very well maintained and you will be amazed to see the different varieties and colours of roses. This is the largest Rose Garden in Asia and is spread over an area of 40 acres and has more than 32,500 plants representing around 825 varieties of roses. This is nice place if you want to spend some time in peace. However the flowering season is mostly in summers so in winters the flowering is scarce. Kids also have a play area inside the garden so they can equally enjoy. Rose festival here is very popular. Must visit this place.

It is a big garden located in sector 17 and hosts hundreds of types of roses spread across a large area. But visiting it for its beauty is only worth when the roses are in full bloom, that is usually between mid January to end of February around rose festivals. Else it is somewhere you can take family for a small outing, walk around and enjoy the greenery and watching the squirrels.

Loved this garden from the time I was in Chandigarh during college days. Recently visited twice with family & friends. Seems like no change in these very years. Varieties of roses have increased though. My wife has knowledge about them so her first reaction was wow... Also visited during rose festival to cherish the old memories. A well maintained & managed garden. Must visit on the way to the lake or rock garden.
