I have been to the reading room a couple of times and the phrase ‘pin drop silence’ comes to mind every time. There is not even a peep from anyone there. Everyone is busy accomplishing their dreams and it motivates you to do the same. I got a lifetime membership for Rs 500 around 3 years ago and I thought is was a great deal.
Not really sure what the fee is now. Probably the same.
One needs to come super early to book a good seat otherwise you’ll find yourself sitting in the corridor.
I have never been to the library in the building but will visit soon.
T S Central State Library is a place where you need to be the member of first and then you can issue books for a minimum of 14 days and I also joined as I have a reading habit and you will find every type of book to choose from your interest and improve your knowledge. Membership fees is one time fees and it was 526 rupee for me in 2021. I recommend to be the member of this library who have the habit of reading books. Children library is on the ground floor and for adults library is on the 1st floor and the next floor offers a section for you to reading place. There is entrance for wheelchair bound people also.
Peaceful place to study
Library is always crowded. Try to reach before 9 am to get seat of your choice.
The reading room has no seat hogging policy so it is rare to reacquire a seat once you have left the place.
The seats and table are in good condition with a few cubilcles for more privacy.
Has lush gardens outside with seating.
Timings are 8 to 8 on all days except gazetted holidays.
Staff is very cooperative.

Information about Central State Library ,Chandigarh:-Library is not responsible for personal items that are lost, stolen or damaged in library premises. Moving Library furniture from where it is placed and reservation of seats are not allowed. Sitting on the floor, lying down or placing feet on the furniture is not allowed.
Membership about:-
Residents of Chandigarh city, Mohali city and Panchkula city can become members of this Library.
The Security amount is Rs. 500/- for all .Identity cards accepted for membership- Adhaar/Voter/Driving licence/Passport and 2Photographs, 1Photograph through E-mail.Security is refunded once you cease to be member of this Library.
Members are responsible for the safe custody of their membership cards. The duplicate card will be issued on payment of Re. 50/-. Members will be held responsible for any loss that the library may have to undergo due to the misuse of their lost cards.The card of a reader will be valid for twelve months and can be renewed by filling up a renewal slip.

Good place for study, It's located in sector 17 near DC office. Good infrastructure, every type of facility available here. Every type of book available here like Upsc exam book, pcs books, ssc, novels, newspaper, computer lab, Ielts books, all types of book there. It's AC library and staff is very helpful. It's membership card price only 500 rupees for life time. I recommend to everyone visit there.

Peaceful with small noise. 4th floor magazine section. Many youngsters there. Preparing full day. Backside newspaper section, early bird catched seats. 8 am - 8 pm opens. Outside foods snacks Cinepolis theatre there. From here, 1 km isbt 17 bus stand. Not too much crowded. But crowded inside library. In a room, approx 30+ people study & read whole day for exams.
I read newspaper at this library for 60 days consecutively

It's a very good public library for syllabus books as well as for all the genres you want to read, you can issue two books from one card and re-issue it online as well after 14 days.
Though it is government library but it is highly well maintained. Worthy not only for adults but for kids also.
They organise different workshops for kids above age 8yrs.
You can get book issued and also you can use study hall for studying .
Good place to study and prepare for exams, with free wifi and lots of books, newspapers, magazines to refer.
I have been going to this library from last 10-12 years when reading place was just a small room, now 3 floor is fully dedicated to reading room, still crowded though. Secure your seat on first come first serve basis!
It is located in the middle of the sector 17 chandigarh. The library has a very good infrastructure and there are many sections in the library as Circular section, Reference section, Reading room etc. The library is always crowded and full as many students come here to study. It is heaven for the students who want a good environment for studying. You will need to take membership for studying in this library.
Place is very good and peaceful. Heaven for students, readers or competitive exam preparators. A wide range of books, magazines, newspapers are available. Children sections is stalled with wide variety of story books and kindergarten stuff. Ambience is good and location is bit puzzled. Also there can be a bit of parking problem or you have to park far away. Special sitting area for senior citizens as well as overall sitting capacity is good. Reference section is stalled with updates editions of books.
Really a very nice library. Books of all subjects are available here. A good range of books for competitive exams is available here. There is a large collection of novels here. If you are a student and doing graduation or post graduation then this library is a good place to find books. You can also issue books for a couple of weeks.
The best place to study, equipped with all the latest books no matter the publication, exam or subjects. Proper led lights and air conditions make this place the best spot to study. The reference section has an american corner which has the best in class magazines and books, a reader's delight.
