Unique, fresh & honest place. The ambience is beautiful, the service is great, and the food is beyond words. Very beautifully seasoned nothing over powered the original taste of the dish, and very good sized portions. Definitely a "must go" again place & one of my top favorite places in Chennai. :)
I loved the desserts and the grilled fish , however the salmon was not upto the mark . However the ambience was beautiful. People taking orders could hurry up a bit when attending to customers . Overall good.

What a Lovely ambiance this place had. Went for dinner - it’s full of trees all around.. the food was fine - Nothing extraordinary, but nice. Orders Thai green curry, basa fish and a steak. The fish was a trifle chewy- probably because they crisped one side a bit too much maybe. The Thai curry was fine and the steak was also ok.. was more impressed with the overall look and feel to the whole space...

Amethyst is a beautiful beautiful place with both indoor and outdoor sitting available. Their aglio olio is top notch and pastries are to die for. Its a very tough call to decide between a varied set of pastries available, we had Oreo cheesecake and Dutch truffle . Also , do not forget to order their salted caramel milkshake :)
Ambience was pleasant. We chose the indoor seating as the outdoor didnot seem well lit. The Calamari and Basa was cooked well and felt safe. The most comforting dish was the Burmese Khow Suey Noodles, too delicious. And not a lot of restaurants in Chennai has this dish on the menu, one dish you got to try here if a fan of Asian Delight.

Had a fantastic start here with toasted bread and egg cheese omelette (325/-) and thai prawn Red curry with steamed rice (695/-), a pleasant calm place to dine in with friends or family and it was one of my favourite spot to organise a family get-together or business meetings their.. it was such a calm and classic environment to spend..

We ordered arabiatta spaghetti and grilled chicken jalapeno risotto during lunch hours along with watermelon juice for 2 ppl, and believe me the Italian flavors wr so well blended with extra edge of delicious cheese. We sat outside weather was pleasant though sunny day, serving and service was quite fast, its a nice place for a romantic dine out and also with friends.

Went with my friend for her birthday...spent almost 4-5 hours there....ordered amethyst club sandwich,bruschetta platter,crumb fried fish with tartar sauce,penne with white sauce and mushroom.We ordered only the classics,all were good.Forgot the beverages,but they were quite good.

Verdict:expensive but worth it...would recommend the place more for the ambience (verdant green nature and quietness) than for gastronomical reasons.
I must say the ambience is wonderful. Service was decent.
Coming to the food, we had the Pan seared Basa, Flame grilled chicken with mushroom sauce, Pavlova with fresh fruits, Hot chocolate and Iced Tea. Frankly speaking, the portion size is small for the amount and we paid more than what was in the price mentioned in the menu.
The pavlova was amazing!
This place is 5 star worthy for it’s commendable ambiance. Food is not so great and price is little high. But I love this place for its ambiance 😍

This place has a perfect ambience, but I wish Chennai were less humid then people would sit outside in the garden rather than AC. I had a fish steak and arancini balls. It was filling. The arancini are good but did not taste like the authentic Italian ones. The steak was very delicious, and so was the chocolate dessert. But please make sure your bread is fresh when you gave an omelette toast in the menu.
Such a lovely place. Cool and pleasant place to spend value time with friends, family and also perfect place for dinner date. Ambience was great.

What can i say, this place is just perfect for a cozy evening time. The ambience s just too beautiful, that u could sit all day with their amazing food. Just like the looks, their food stands to the mark. Loved ordering their large plates, in which the pepperoni pizza was too delicious,fish and chips had a fresh crisp and their sausage tasted yummy. Will recommend this place to all, great spot for a family union.

Unbelievable place with the best ambiance anywhere in the world, but disappointing food and erratic service.
I had never been to Chennai before. But still I had heard so much about this place. So last week when I finally visited Chennai, I made sure I had breakfast at Amethyst.The cafe lives up to its full name- Wild Garden Amethyst cafe- it is surrounded with greenery. Thick, lush greenery. It is so clam and peaceful, you feel absolutely relaxed immediately. I ended up spending over 4 hours here when I had planned for 1.
The interiors are posh with intricate wooden furniture matched with tasteful decor inside and beautiful white tables/ chairs outside. Coming to the food and service. The service is slow but also not very smart. They forget things and mix up orders sometimes. Since, it is a laid place so you don't mind if things get delayed.
I ordered an American breakfast and later , ordered a couple of sandwiches. The prices are high so I was disappointed when the American breakfast had just 1 toast and 1 chicken sausage and half a glass of watermelon juice. They charge just over 500 bucks for it so it is not a great deal compared to other places that serve same menu. The sandwiches were served with fries. Again nothing special but premium priced. They have a large parking and staff that manages it. Pretty easy to get to the beach from here.
Go to this place to spend some peaceful time, laid back on the garden chairs, absorbing the solitude. Don't expect too much with the food though.

This is that beautiful eatery.The place has awesome interiors and exterior decors. The interiors give you the fresh feel of a good forest, adding to which there are flower shops and boutiques inside here.
The place is almost always crowded eventhough the food is a bit expensive here but is good. Nonetheless it is worth all the feel the cafe gives you!!

Plants lead pathway, the beautiful outdoor seating, quite, calm and serene are few adjectives that this place could be associated with. My bestie visited me lately and this is the place we had to visit together. Since both us enjoy green, outdoor seating, calm and just chill.
The minute we walked on the pathway we just fell in love with those plants from the hustle bustle of the city to a place that is so green. We took about close to one hour to just let the place sink in.
Irrespective of everything we straight dived into food, we ordered cold coffee, cold chocolate and went straight in.
For main course we ordered, basa fish with mash potatoes and garlic butter, my friend ordered chilly rubbed chicken with black pepper. We absolutely loved these dishes and the pan seared basa was my favourite, so succulent and fresh. The chicken was okay was less spicier than expected.
Then the star dish blueberry cheese cake was what won for me and had my ♥️.
Overall courteous staff, less waiting time and made to your liking.
Me and my friends went for a get together ...we really had amazing time over there and had delicious food and juices ..we tried Thai curry and vegan sandwich, Mexican toast ..Desserts are really good and you can get much more varieties our favourites are Chocolate nuga brownie, Triple layer cake and Caramel cake.
If you ever visit Chennai,a visit to Amethyst is a must i would say. If you are a resident, then a visit more than once is what I would recommend.

Soothing interiors, a menu different from the rest of the restaurants. Great food and even more awesome desserts.
I love the unobtrusive service that lets you be. Do try their Sweet Potato and Carrot Omelette, it is delicious and pretty to look at.

In our recent trip to Chennai, we visited the cafe for a quick bite before catching our flight. Being from Mumbai, we appreciate the open space and the greenery. This beautiful cafe lies amidst greenery and tranquility. The place is huge, peaceful with a great ambiance. For drinks, we ordered for Amethyst Cooler and Coconut Milkshake, a true quencher for the summer heat. For the mains, we ordered for Grilled Chicken along with veggies and mashed potatoes. We also ordered for Grilled Chicken cooked in mustard along with potato wedges. A special mention goes to the mustard chicken, on the other hand the drinks and grilled chicken were decent, nothing extraordinary. For our sweet tooth, we had Apple, Guava, Cinnamon Pie, which was a pleasure to the tongue. Overall, we had a good and memorable experience in the city.
Such a green peaceful place in the Chennai City, the food is good but not value for money but I guess we do pay for the ambience which compensates for the food.

Ambiance is very nice and calm
Indeed an evergreen place. It was ten years back when I wanted to visit this place and it was not until today I could really enjoy this breezy restaurant. The food was really good. Had a lot of Italian options. I got the fusilli pesto with beans, Mexican toast, cheese poppers and thin crust margarita pizza. They have a lot of tasty coolers. I got the watermelon cooler for a sunny afternoon! I would visit again just for the ambience. Loved the pesto pasta and it is a must try.

One is taken through a lush verdant pathway and into the cafe proper which is itself surrounded by a healthy garden that feels like a world away from the hot dusty city that is Chennai.
The interiors bring an old-world charm with its chessboard tiles, antique looking lights and furniture. The vintage music playing in the background completes the picture and you don’t realise that there is a very modern air conditioner cooling the place.
We tried the special menu, and it was fantastic!
From the delicate, melt-in-the-mouth Brie cheese poppers to the crispy truffle pizza to the spicy Cajun chicken, we enjoyed every bite
And for dessert we ordered a baileys Creme brûlée and a dark chocolate mousse. It’s not everyday you come across a place that takes it’s dark chocolate seriously (although the mousse could have been a bit more airier). As for the Creme brûlée … well, in my experience those tend to be very eggy no matter how upscale the restaurant is. But it wasn’t so here.
Final verdict:
Ambience: 1 very well deserved star!
Food: 1 star
Drinks: 1 star. They don’t have a liquor license but I enjoyed my kumquat lemonade very much.
Staff: 1 star. Silent, efficient and competent.
Will I come here again?: yes!

Whenever I visited there, I could see exhibition and crafts market on weekends.

Getting a place is hard as it is first come first served. Weekends are hard to get a place. Keep your eyes peeled else you will lose your spot in the queue. Seating is outdoor and indoor with advantages of both.
Good cocktail collection and finger food to go with it. Also has a range of healthy food to cater every palate.
Loved the dessert section in particular the apple guava pie with less dough and more fruit.
I absolutely loved this place just for the ambience, ample parking space and wide seating options. We went during the night and sat in the outdoor seating. The service was quite quick. The pizza's were good.
Pasta especially mushroom cheese penne was tasty.
Loved coffee creme burlee. But Banana split was a disaster.
I would recommend people to go during day time or right at sunset time. The nature setting is very well set and creates a pleasant atmosphere.

Always calming! The beautiful Garden in the middle of the City. You can talk a short stroll through it and visit the little Shops. Just to take a Pause at the Restaurant for a Tea or for the great and delicious Variety of Snacks and Main Dishes.
A breakthrough Cafe in the City that's successfully completed 2 decades and going more. Cafe offers wonderful delicacies for a weekend brunch or a relaxing coffee on a stressed out weekday.
Green lashed by plants around and the old world charm welcomes you for a blissful experience.
There's a Bakery too that offers takeaway of unique baked products.
And then there is The Folly Hall for exhibitions and Fairs.

The Ambience was awesome but the food was below average. We ordered two pizzas and one lasagna. The Lasagna na OK but the pizzas were very bad.
