Happened to visit this restaurant on a Friday morning. It was a surprise that nobody hadn't mentioned about this place earlier. The staff were really courteous, and our food did not take much time. The food was great too. The dosa was great, though not too oily, yet it was crispy. Perfect!

The pure taste of vegetarian foods can be found here(without onion)
Amazing South Indian food. Must go there again 🔥
I like the taste of the dishes they make and hence, only for that reason I am giving 5 star. For one home delivery requirement of mine, they had missed one product though. I do hope such a lapse is not repeated. Yours Loyally.
bought Deepawali bakshanam and found to be very tasty and of high quality .The bakshanam is devoid of artificial colours as compared to some caterers who sell these in large scale.Badhushas and Jenny is were exceptional.Found a genuine place for sweets and savaries in chennai at
Excellent restaurant in Mylapore that serves traditional south indian vegetarian food. The service rendered by the restaurant staffs are exceptional as they take personal care of your table. I had vegetable sevai and aloo bonda for snacks and curd rice for my son.
If anyone reading this finds yourself in and around Mylapore, do give Thaligai a try for their Michelin level service.
Excellent restaurant.Clean and neat food .The special Bakshanam counter has tasty and mouth watering sweets and savouries. My friends and I enjoyed the restaurant.Service people need special commendation.

A couple of friends and I decided to meet up in Mylapore, and what better landmark than Nageshwara Rao Park ! Of course the plan included breakfast and I decided to try Thaligai, which is located just diagonally opposite to the main entrance of the park. It was a rainy morning, and our meeting sort of started and ended with breakfast in Thaligai. 🙂

After so many misses, finally ate lunch at Thaligai, with my relatives.
There was a Sunday lunch rush, but thankfully we got seated in a few minutes. The place was absolutely packed and everyone were eating away to glory. I didn't quite register anything about the decor, cept that it was neat and comfortable. Service was very efficient, considering the rush!
Since our party was super hungry we simply went for the special thali and ordered a few drinks like the lemon ginger and beetle leaf juice, both tasted awesome!
Ok, I'm going to get into a bit of a hyperbole, because this was hands down one of the best thalis I had eaten (it helped that I was hungry) in eons? I usually refrain from taking too many seconds, but here I think, I refilled every container twice. The preparations were homely, but so fresh and tasty and how awesome was the traditional iyengar sweet, the akkaravadisal! Yum.
We took a few snacks parcel and they were pretty good.
Can't wait to revisit in my future trips💚
In line with their restaurant name, their food offering is also unique. They have great combos of tiffin items, not usually seen these days in other south indian restaurants .Authentic preparation and food served is fresh , as the group is known for their catering service.

Had mini meals , high quality delicious food especially sambar rice and curd rice were more delicious, quite pricy but worth it. Environment and hospitality was great, service was decent.
Pros:
You get all traditional South Indian dishes here .
Authentic homely taste!
Mor Kali with vathakuzhambu is the best dish ever! Also paanagam.
Reminds me of the times we used to prepare at home.
Good ambience, Quick service.
Cons:
A bit costly for the quantity served
One of the Food Items (Sambar rice) ordered was really hot and Spicy. Please try to reduce the hotness and spice content in it. So that it's edible for all ages. Let any food item delivered be mild and soothing to the stomach. This is a humble request.
Nice food, fast delivery, neatly packed. Idlies are delivered hot and are bigger in size.
The tomato chutney is also very tasty along with the sambhar.
Had tried their sunday special sapadu also weekday meals, both where awesome... amazing food and indeed a great service. On our way out we also brought their savories like mixture, vazhakai chips, potato chips, ellu urundai etc. those where great too! A must try place for authentic brahmin food.
This place is located opposite to Nageshwara Rao park in Luz Church Road... Went in for an authentic South Indian food with cousins... We had to wait for like 10-15 minutes which shows how good the place is... Ordered Ashoka Halwa, Ghee Podi Dosa, Sambar Idly, Daimond Podi Dosa... The taste was so good... Both the podi dosas where dheiva level... Must visit for a good authentic South Indian food...
Ambience-4/5
Service-4.5/5
Food-4. 5/5
Such a beautiful place to have family kind of reunited lunch. Best place for vegetarian lovers. I liked the buttermilk and it was so awesome. Best place to have vegetarian food.
One of the best places to taste authentic South Indian food. If you want to taste traditional South Indian food then don't miss this place. A little expensive though.
Nice delicious variety of options to offer... loved the mor Kali and elai had an and other varieties of dosa....specially the wheat dosa.....
sweet of the day was delicious ..ended with S ambar rice and finished it off with panagam...Super flavours, neat and truly traditional food...
Second visit for sure
Perfect place for a vegetarian meal. Typical brahmin style menu which means the menu is not really wide spread. For instance, they only had pakodas as starter. No other starters are available! The menu is different each day. Their signature menu is the full virundhu which is supposed to have a whole lot of items.
On the day we went, we were in the mood only for light lunch, so we opted for a sambar sadham, puliyodharai and a veg pakoda. The pakoda was good, served hot and was crispy. The puliyodharai and sambar sadham were good too with the typical brahmin taste. The place was packed even though it was a bit late when we went.
Recommended for vegetarians who are bored of the usual outlets like Saravana Bhavan and Sangeethas.
Thaligai is a great place for delicious south Indian food. We went in the evening when it was time for tiffin. The Idiappam with kurma was very delicious. The special peas uttapam was a real treasure. The masala in the rava masala dosa was very good. Very highly recommended
The coffee was excellent
When they opened, I was one of the first customers who went almost every week, till the place became too popular to even get decent parking. Since then I've been actively ordering in from this place. I love their More Kali, just the way it's made at home. Also to die for, are their different kinds of dosas, including the ones made with varieties of millets. The quality has stayed the same since the beginning, and that's something, if not everything. So next time you have a South Indian craving, just fall back on Thaligai's Thaligai. (which literally means Cooking in Tamil).
Authentic south indian brahmin food. I loved the tomato chutney. So yummy! Dosas and uthappams are too good. If you want to experieyan authentic maami style food, this is one of it.
Had lunch today..... Unlimited meals...... Just awesome.... Exactly the same as home preparation..... Really love to go again..... Only drawback is the food is bit bland... Need to have more spice and hot... Otherwise semma...
I had read about this restaurant in The Hindu. Had a chance to relish the food today on my visit to Chennai from Mumbai.
The Sunday lunch served in banana leaf was excellent and homely. It was a good experience.
Loved it esp the dessert.

Good Food, Great and Responsive Service. More importantly pocket friendly Sumptuous food . What needs to be improved is Hand wash Area and Toilet.
Typical Iyengar home-style food!!!
Visited for lunch and loved the experience. Food wasn't masalaish or spicy or oily and felt good on the tummy even after having an unlimited thali.
They have a wide variety that doesn't confuse you and different menu or weekdays and weekends.
The items on the unlimited menu were all good and delicious.
Highlights were the sambar, curd rice with vathakulambu, rasam and kootu. The rasam although sans garlic was yummy! They had narthangai pickle which also damn good!!! A small cup of puliyodharai also comes with the meal.
We had Morkali and other normal items like idly, poori, curd rice. Morkali was outstanding with mormolagai adding a good flavour to it. Curd rice was disappointing as we didn't get curd taste but was full of milk. A good curd rice should be having a mild bitterness which was missing. Podi idly and poori was good. We finished with coffee which have no complaints. A good evening time Ruffin which. is worth paying visit again.
Finally a nice competition for the traditional loving Mylapore folks !!! I mistook this for a diamond or jewellery store ..my bad .. the interiors are well done .. the store also sells traditional snacks and other tit bits like vadam and other goodies .. very similar to satyams ID .. there is a video playing in loop on how to prepare some of the traditional cuisines .. we had a rava dosa .. plain dosa, Bonda, coffee and panagam .. sorry about the photos there is no option to edit and change the pictures orientation .. on the whole a nice experience .. there are dinner and lunch offers too .. willing to give them a go ..
We (8+ members) went for dinner and had many different items. Out of them, Sevai, Kambu Dosai, Podi idly, Mix Veg Uthappam, Ilai Vadaam, Moar Kali, Coffee,Paanagam, Neer Moar, Poali were good. Service was quick. Ambience is ok. Taste is different from the other restaurants because of no onion/garlic. Overall, it was good. Btw,restaurant is not Pattappa's Thaligai. It is now 'AN cuisines' Thaligai'. Different management.
On Time Delivery. Kudos Delivery Guy.
Food Taste is Good.......
Chapati is really soft.....
And
Especially Mor Kozhambu & curd rice was awesome.
Overall it's a Good Deal !!!!!
Ordered for a Rava Masal Dosai.
In 15 mts it arrived... meeting all the visual norms of a great Rava Dosa.
Looked good enough to meet the most demanding apetite.
I simply relished the taste of it as it started dissapearing..... right before my eyes.
The masala was simply a made for each othe stuff -was perfect on all counts with a rich measure of Cashews and Raisins.
The big but was the sambar and chutney...needs care.
The ambience can be worked around with some professional touch and of course the service and courtesy needs to be little more honed.
Good wishes.
No complaints about ambience, food quality, cleanliness.
A bit overpriced but the food tastes too good.
We tried mini meals, variety rices and vegetable pakoda. Everything was perfect.
Super food nice packaging 100% pure veg
Tbh I liked the idea of an authentic restaurant so I went ahead with this one. I ordered the Curd Rice and Elai Vadam.
Curd Rice was a 10/10 super good, drool worthy .. loved every bite ❤️
Elai Vadam was a total Disappointment !! So thick and not appetising at all(we threw it in the end)... and to top it all.. it is overly priced (2 small ones for 60₹)
So;this place is nice but certain items are not good and are overly priced.
Overall, I would definitely order their curd rice again! Please improve more
good taste. taste more than expected.
I had cravings for badam halwa and have heard in the past that this place had the best badam halwa. But unfortunately, it wasn't available. Yet life is just full of compromises 😋 I opted for Ashoka Halwa. Not at all a compromise actually. The Ela vadaam was also good. A different flavors but definitely a good one.
excellent taste. applam can be packed better as it was too much crushed. other items were packed really well.
Best vegetarian food ever tasted !!
Ambience was very good . The food is worth every penny , planning to visit Thaligai monthly once .If buffet was introduced it would make it more special .
packing is very good. keep it up
very tasty chapatis though kurma tasted more like social. please add lavanga pattai, peas and carrots to the karma.
The long time over due was completed. The name that created the hype just satisfied the taste buds too. The ambience was clean and was not much populated when we went and they too had a good service.
We ordered a dinner combo. The items were
#Podi idli
#Dosa
#Chapathi
#Payasam
#masala pal
The tiny idlies dipped in idli gunpowder was served. They had a good combination of spices and tasted good.
plain dosa along with 2 chapatis were served with vegetable kurma. For dosa and idli it was served with chutney and sambar. Aval payasam was served and masala pal was also in the combo.
There are few choices can be made in the combo. The best part about the food was it tasted more home made food and all the items was served hot.
Final verdict
Food :4/5
Services :3.5/5
VFM : 4/5
Good homely (read Iyengar) meal served hot. No masalas. Just sambar rice, rasam rice, curd rice, one sweet, one roti, vadagams, koottu and kariyamudhu (side dish). Getting Space is often a big problem. Car parking is not available at the place. Two wheelers can be parked opposite side. First round you have to take it yourself. Afterwards they will serve it on table. 200 looks just on the higher side for the menu. Otherwise, food taste is excellent.
This place is wow 👌 .. had a wonderful typical Tamil vegetarian lunch . The food was tasty and served with great care and love by Prem and his team.
My whole family loved the fine dine experience. Would love to come back soon.
packing needs to be checked before sending the food. the plastic container was open at the time of delivery
Food was good but a bit spicy.
Recently visited this restaurant after coming across through Social media posts. Reached there by 8PM and got the table immediately. Menu does not contain fancy items but some of the forgotten dishes of our land. Tried some of their specialities and they all tasted good. Overall good food at a reasonable price.
Note: Parking is mostly on the road side only.
Nice ambience, courteous staff. Parking is available. Lift is also available at the back entrance (to note for senior citizens).
The food was nice with homely taste. All items were freshly prepared after ordering. Hence took a longer time to serve. Meanwhile, as it was just opposite AVM rajeswari mandapam and luckily a wedding reception was going on which was easily visible from the table we were seated, we could see the big monitor display outside the wedding hall. We tried their diamond masala dosa, ghee dosa, poori masala and vazhapoo vadais.
Went for lunch and ordered thali. There is a Sunday special Kalyana thali, which is absolutely delicious. They serve a variety of foods including, but not limited to poriyal, dal, sambar, ram, curd rice, 2 sweet varieties. A must visit restaurant with great service.
Good was good. However not extraordinary. I feel that the Kalyana Thaligai is a bit overpriced. Service was extremely good. Will go back to try other items
We celebrated my mum’s birthday from London a couple of days ago. We had their special valapoo vadai and adai. It was lovely flavourful vegetarian food.
They were accommodating towards us and our family. We thank them for their amazing hospitality. Keep up the good flavoursome food
This is my first visit to Thaligai restaurant. Lovely ambience. Courteous staff. Quick service. Simple and tasty menu. We ordered the following items from the menu.
Idly
Sambar vada
Poori
Rava dosa
Mysore bonda
Kambu dosai
Lemon tea
Their menu is pretty simple and clear. However few items weren’t available like thayir vada. I will try next time.
Go-to place for veg authentic food! Elders would love this food. Recommeding to practice these foods for kids and young gen also to have at least once in a month. Restaurant deserve a huge applaud for their way of cooking and serving ! We tried mor kali with vathakulambu, elai vadam with pulimulaga, sevai , rava dosai. Each dish has an authentic touch and best treat to all your taste glands. Kudos to the management and notable point is reasonable cost!
Thaligai is a casual, clean restaurant serving a menu of vegetarian Tamil Nadu dishes, and it also had the distinction of using no garlic or onion in any of its dishes. On my visit, I tried their two Saturday special dishes. First, the Diamond Masala Dosa was a giant rice and lentil batter crepe containing a spicy filling of potatoes mixed with tomatoes, and served with coconut chutney, tomato chutney, and sambar on the side. The dosa had a distinctly sour, fermented flavor, though it wasn’t as crispy as it could’ve been, and the chutneys and sambar were definitely not as flavorful as others I’ve had. Second, the Adai Avial was a Tamilnadu breakfast dish, composed of adai dosas, or savory pancakes made with besan and rice flour mixed with spices, served with avial, a soup made of mixed vegetables (including green beans, carrots, and gourd), coconut milk, and curd. The adai dosa was flavorful and crispy and was a nice protein-rich dish that went nicely with the avial.
Very warm welcoming by Yavitha the young lady of the restaurant who taught us how to eat correctly with our hands and she explained us every kind of food we had on our platter.
The food was excellent, South Indian traditional food.
The restaurant has air conditioning and the place is very clean.
Very nice staff
Very Nice Behaviour. They treat you very well. Price is very reasonable. I expected high bill for the facilities provided, but it wasn't like that. Chutneys provided with the Dosas are of high quality. The manager is real good. They are real role models. Best wishes for them
Wow! I just loved the food and we all liked it. It took me back to my Grandma days... And the Aravinda took care of us well and kept checking on what we need. Will come back soon. Thank you 🙏🏼😊
Food is good and it's spice suitable for all ages. But when I went last time there was too less salt in each and every item which made food bland and couldn't enjoy at its best. This small correction will rectify everything. Overall a good place for no onion no garlic preferred customers 😄 One more suggestions is if side dishes are made available in quantity basis for takeaways and online orders with better budgets will be more helpful
