Went for their buffet lunch. First off, money well spent. They had a unlimited beer promo going on with the buffet and it was on point.
The food was the usual you would find, what really blew me away was the dessert section which was one of the best I’ve seen in Chennai.
Great place for Sunday brunches. The brunch food spread is vast, filling and satisfying to one's heart's content. The dessert spread will spoil you. The staff is helpful with recommendations and friendly. The decor is nice, cozy, and well lit; with live music....
Hi Foodies,
I had visited Spice Haat for lunch on 25-Dec. The place was very good. The overall ambience was nice.
There were many items in the buffet with many options for Vegetarians. There were many live counters like Chat Corner, Egg station etc. The dessert table was decorated outstandingly as it was Christmas. There were many cake options.
The service could have been a bit more prompt otherwise no complaints. If you are in and around Chennai this is a place you need to visit for lunch!!!
The breakfast spread at Spice Haat was just awesome.
The Masala Dosa and Vadas are one of the best, I've eaten in Chennai.
The other dishes were well prepared, as well.
I need to mention a Trio, who pampered me and looked after me, so well.
They were Siddharth, Tuithung and Saurav.
Tuithung played the perfect host.
In the conversation, I had with her, I told her I was leaving Chennai this morning.
I was pleasantly surprised, when she came back later with a small cake with Bon Voyage on it.
It made my journey all the more pleasant.
Thank you Hyatt Regency and thank you Tuithung and Team, for the good food, hospitality and care.
You guys are Great. Much appreciated. On a scale of 1 to 10, I will rate your service and food at 11.
I recall coming here quite regularly back in the day to enjoy their sumptuously large buffet. To be frank nothing much has changed and even now they conjure up a remarkable spread.
I was here for an official get together and they provide a great deal of food and drinks at a fairly reasonable clip. The interesting bit is that the drinks provided are unlimited.
There isn't much to complain about the food. In the starter section, the panneer is to drool and the cheese nuggets is a good on. They also have a live chaat and pasta counter to customise and serve as per your requirement.
The main course is lavish and well spread out. There is enough and more for both the vegetarians and non vegetarians. The gravies taste really good and go wonderfully well with the Indian bread. There are options of rice and noodles as well.
The dessert section is again packed to the rafters. Various pastries and cakes of all sizes and shapes adorn proceedings and if you're a sweet lover you'll just look forward to polishing up what they have in store.
The service was friendly and the requirements are met as required. Spice Haat is a great option for a get together lunch or dinner and there are very little chances that it won't meet your expectations as most of the bases are well covered.
We heard that Hyatt was running an offer for a buffet food with unlimited beer/mocktail. The price and the brand name convinced us to stay with Hyatt.
It is in Teynampet, next to Arivalayam. The building is shared, which has Decathlon on one side.
Egg Paratha: If you think this to be Samosa, then you have mistaken. Hyatt style of making Egg Paratha, only the plain egg was added to the dough and was shallow fried. The snack was oily and hard to eat when cold.
Paneer Tikka: the one in out focus, spongy paneers well marinated with right spices, easily became our favourite. Also, the Chicken Tikka was equally good as paneer.
Chicken Sausage, Ham and Beef slices. I just had the chicken sausage. It was juicy and had some veggies. My teammates had beef and said that to be bad.
Tandoori roti was my saviour. Panner butter masala and Cholae masala was blending in well for the roti. Also took some sweet potato masala (the yellow one), didn’t know for what to have but it was good to eat.
I have been to Spice Haat few times now. Twice for lunch, once for dinner and once for breakfast. Everytime picked up their buffet package. Because above all I find their packages "Value for Money"
Their menu spreads have variety as well as appeal. The food is mostly good. Especially their non veg biryanis are lip smacking. In breakfast, poori sabzi and pongal are recommended. The desserts outnumber the space in your stomach and you will be spoilt for choices.
The service is quite good too. And the staff warm and friendly. Overall, well maintained in terms of cleanliness, decor and hygiene.
It was really amazing fun having lunch at spice haat. Enjoying a buffet lunch with my friends..Loved the ambit and staffs were friendly ... There was a live counter for chat and enjoyed all veg items from the buffet. Thanks Hyatt for making our lunch special..
One of the best 5* buffet breakfast experience we had here.Loads of varieties of Bread,Dessert, live counters,Dry fruits. One could not have in one shot. While entering one could find the mixture of old and new technological sculptures and well maintained and mostly hygiene counters.Food quality is upto the mark but waffle was little hard(live counter). They served cut fruits as well as whole fruits. They had milkshakes, coffee, tea, egg, dosa, puri live counters. The Service people were very humble and polite and quick in service.
Suggested by one my friend to visit here.
It's really worth it.
Ambience - very neat, clean, hygienic and the best part of the place is food spreads are placed amazingly so that it control the crowd.
Food--buffet including soups, salad, pastas, rotis, main dishes, breads, mock tails and desserts.
Dessert are best part of the meal.
Foods are good without any complaints
Service - staff are very friendly
Visited this place for bloggers meet. They have wide varieties in their buffet spread. First I tasted chicken soup and starters. Then had veg fried rice, naan , paneer masala, mutton curry and salads. Overall the taste and quality was good and worth spending.
Sumptuous Breakfast is what I would call the buffet in Hyatt’s Spice Haat.
The items were just too many that you will be spoilt PF choice.
It was a multi-cuisine one where you get to have all that you want.
There was a lavish spread of salads in one place. There is also a LIVE Counter where you can get Pasta. There are fresh juice. There is a combination of North & South Indian cuisine.
Fish/Chicken were well cooked. Taste was simply superb. Though the items were so many, I managed to taste almost all of them. Chef has done an excellent job.
Ambiance was really good. The stewards were very helpful. They got all that we wanted with a smile and with great speed.
This is something that would be etched in my mind forever :)
I always fall in love with this place.
I love love love their chocolate pudding , it’s to die for. It’s one of the best place to take your clients out especially the ones from other countries.
It’s become one of my favorite buffet places after yesterday! Great food, nice and warm people around equals to time well spent! I really don’t have to be writing about their ambience here, cuz it’s Hyatt and they have their standards! We got this steal deal yesterday - unlimited beer and unlimited food for ₹1100 per head all inclusive. The food was so freakin good! The starters, Chicken Tikka and Paneer Tikka were really nice and since we asked them if we can have any seafood starters, they specially made a South Indian style Fish starter for us, which was hands down the winner for the day. There was a chaat counter that served amazing Papdi Chaat, but the Bhel Puri wasn’t great to be honest. They had only British Empire, no other beer brands but still no complaints! 😊 Coming to main course, they had a huge spread - from Chinese to Maharashtrian cuisine, Kerala, Tamilnadu and many other varieties. Everything tasted very good! The slow cooked Mutton in Roghanjosh was so tender and it went so well with the Biriyani and Garlic Naan. And about desserts, the Moongdaal Halwa was extraordinary and the cheesecake was good as well! So if you ask me if I’d go back to this place again, it’s a definite yes from me. In fact, multiple yeses! 👍🏼😊
Craving for some heavy breakfast, it's been a while since I ate English and continental food. Upon research found "Spice haat" at hyatt Regency offers a very good spread of breakfast. Drafted a plan with fellow foodies for Saturday morning and implemented successfully. Welcomed with a luxurious ambience and a pleasant music. Just went for a quick walk to see what attracts us as usual everything attracted me 🤩.
What we saw? Live egg counter where they make different types of omelettes, eggs benedict etc, sausages, baked beans, herb roasted potatoes, a huge spread of pastries, muffins, breads, donuts, live waffle and pancake station, noodles, fried rice, poached fish, stir fried vegetables, dosa station, spread of north and south Indian foods, cereals, muesli, nuts, fresh fruits, flavoured and plain yogurts, dips, cheeses, fresh fruit juices as well as canned juices, hot beverage station that's all I can remember I could have forgot something 😁.
Tried our level best and tasted most of them 😀. Everything was good and the service was great.

Even before I pen my review, I’d like to say – It’s a steal, without a doubt! Go for it!. When I saw the flyer from Spice Haat – Hyatt Regency, Chennai, that said ‘Unlimited Beer and Buffet priced at rupees 1099 AI (all inclusive)’, quickly searched for any conditions they may have added in fine print, I didn’t see any! Our CBC group immediately decided to do this on a Saturday evening, for dinner.
Good place good food!! Buffet has lots of options with live counters .. we enjoyed our dinner buffet with Punjabi food promotion. Vijay and chefs gave us good care! Thanks
Amazing food. Amazing staff. Nice ambience. Clean place. Wonderful guests. Not light on the wallet. Amazingly awesome. Food is awesome and spotless and lovely and again awesome
Sunday brunches are the best here ! Usually not so crowded. Located right in the heart of the city. Easily accessible by all means. Very courteous staff
Love this place for their buffet. Wide range of starters, main dish and desserts.
Their fish starter was just yum and I kept repeating the order.💟
Loved the brownie in desserts.
Soup, chaats, main dish and desserts were just awesome. Would love to visit again definitely.
Overall review : Above average
Positives : The tasty food, wide dessert section
Negatives : Very poor staff service
Price : $$$$$
I happened to drop in here with my family of 4 on mothers day and they welcomed us with a delicious finger licking cake exclusively for mommies. We opted for the lunch buffet and got a nice cosy table after which the service stopped at our table. The starters including soups were served very late in spite of having only a small crowd.
The chicken and mutton starters were so good that we asked for the second round of it all.
The main course was vast with a lot of South Indian, North Indian,Chinese and Continental dishes. Most of it was cooked to perfection and I had to leave space specifically for the desserts.
Coming on to the desserts, this is the hub for sweet tooth lovers. They have a counter with wide variety if desserts from which you can choose ( how many ever you want; nobody judges you here). Indulge in their sinful desserts and regret later for the extra calories. We went for multiple rounds until our tummy couldn't hold anymore.
In between we ordered few drinks ( they serve alcoholic as well) which were supposed to be served to us during the starters, but after repeatedly asking the servers we received it only by the end of main course.
The bill amount amount was approximately near 9k but on account of mothers day we got a 50% discount which made our tummies and hearts full forgetting the poor service. Will definitely go again!
We had gone for Sunday Brunch as a family of 10 members. Each and everyone loved this place and the spread. Every counter Chat, Kebabs, burger, Appam, Thai, western was awesome... Even the Veg spread was good... the Sambar, Vatha Kulambu were good... the Lucknowi Mutton Briyani and Navratna Pulao tasted Yummm... Desserts were superb... Great place... will love to be there again...
Place to have a superb heavy meal with a feel of luxury. Service was very good.. tried many dishes.. everything was very tasty.. i went for breakfast so started with fruits. And end with cakes.. clicked few photos only as i was fully involved in eating..
One of the best 5 star buffet place with awesome ambience and generous people.
Manager ( Naresh) was really cooperative and even after the end of buffet time he made sure we had a great lunch, moreover Priyanka was our table incharge and tried her best to serve us each and every thing, she even served us things out of buffet as buffet dishes got over.
Ambiance: 5/5
Taste: 4.5/5
Staff: 5/5
Service: 5/5
Variety: 4.5/5
Overall a nice place to have lunch with family and friends.
Thanks alot Naresh and Priyanka 👏

This place was by far the amazing. The buffet was so good and the menu was amazing as well ! The ambience was soo good.
The soup - lemongrass chicken soup, it was so delicious and comforting. The breads went really good with the soup ! Especially the focaccia bread.
Starters- The starters were served on the table chicken tikka, crispy fish, paneer tikka and medhu vada. All the starters were really good, we even went for repeats😍 Nachos was brilliant !
Mains- so much of varieties, and everything was delicious. The noodles and chicken was my favourite. Paneer makhani with roti was also my second favourite ! 😍 and how can I miss the biryani, it was amazing as well ❤️ to end it all with curd rice with moor melaga ❤️
Desserts- They still have my heart, those tiny little macaroons were on fire 🔥 hot fudge brownie it was gooey and perfect for the cold weather. The fruit truffle was amazing as well 😍
Overall, I had a amazing experience and I would love to visit again 💕💯
Amazing desserts! Hyatt is Hyatt - UNcompromised quality. My buffet experience here was lovely.
They also have a nice premises with a mall, so that's nice too.
Went there for a dinner. There were enough starters in non-veg buffet and everything there was good except tandoori fish. Main course was decent and you got some special deserts to try out there.
Very very nice food all 3 nights I ate at hyatt chennai during my stay there very tasty and very trust friendly staff I ate south and north indian food mainly and chinese also was good.
Recently visited Spice Haat for dinner and had the best time! Amazing buffet experience with the best service. The quality and variety in the food was amazing , especially the desserts were just too good ♥️ The starters had bagels , salads, hummus and many more. Each and every dish stood out , the fish curry was my favourite. They've also got a chaat counter. The desserts definitely deserve a special mention! So much variety😍
The ambience and service were top notch! The bill came upto 4.7k for 5 people which I thought was pretty reasonable. Definitely a must-visit place😍😍 Highly recommended 😍😍
Had great time at Hyatt Regency Chennai with good food options .
I found lots of live food counter which is the best part of it . Also all type of food options available like American and South Indian.
Went for dinner with family !! One of the best ambience for a peaceful family dinner !! The staff is very friendly and very professional... had my reservations on Veg food here ... but I must say they have improved a lot from my previous visit... haryali panner tikka was great in starters .. naan was very soft and good ... dal makhni is a must try.... it is their signature dish... Hyderabadi dum biryani was amazing !! Deserts were all good ... the service is good and this is a go to place !!
There are times when you just want to sit in your hotel room and order in. That’s my favourite part about a hotel.
We ordered :
1. Penne aglio olio with lots of garlic, chilli and pepper
2. Hara bhara kebab .
3. Grilled chicken in pesto sauce with sautéed mushrooms for myself.
Everything we ordered was cooked as per our requirements and was perfect. The pesto was absolutely bang on delicious.
The breakfast spread at spice haat was one of the best I have seen. Spice haat at @hyattregencychennai made our stay absolutely memorable. Not just the hospitality but the food was also fantastic. I am definitely coming back and it’s number one on my recommendations for a place to stay and eat in chennai. .
It’s a 3.5 overall. +0.5 for the very much reasonably priced Breakfast buffet. They have a good spread and a friendly crew. A couple of things could be added to the spread such as a variety of Donuts and shakes/cold coffee to begin with. But yet again, the price they charge is quite reasonable.
Overall - Might visit again.
Enjoyed every bit of the time spent. Starting with the ambience, food, service, I liked every bit of it. Highly recommended to people who haven't been here.
Dinner buffet is excellent. Very good spread of veg and non-veg items with drinks on the house. Starters and desserts too are good. Spacious and comfortable place were you get personalised attendence of staff. Pricing compared to all that is served will not disappoint any. Kudos to team Spice Hatt.
This one comes close to perfection. A sprawling place with its cozy corners, green gardens enveloping its glass walls, well-spaced out food counters, earthy and sprightly interiors, neat and tidy, attentive and helpful staff, quick service, mostly delicious food and reasonable prices.
We visited for a lunch buffet on May Day and were a tad early. The crowd was yet to trickle in and hence, we got to take our own time to pick our table and tour the food counters. The soup and starters were served on the table; rest was self- service. The spread was extensive; we didn't have any complaints. Of the starters, the paneer tikka and fish fingers were awesome. Of the main course, rosemary potatoes and lasooni dal were delectable. The salad bar and desserts were, though, the hero and heroine of the spread - these guys didn't go wrong anywhere there! The Pista Mousse and Strawberry Panna Cotta was smashing!
My only bone to pick is this - the starters weren't that hot. Considering the fact that buffet opens at 12.30pm and we were there by 12.45pm, it was a disappointment to see the food losing steam so early on. Also, the chair I was sitting had a wobbly leg and had I not noticed it in the beginning, I would have had a humpty-dumpty fall by the end of if all! Of course, upon informing the staff immediately removed it from the restaurant and apologised.
Billing was on the table and hassle-free.
We spent a good 3 hours and didn't realise how time flew by. Recommended.

Meal for 2: INR 3200 (incl. taxes)
As a star hotel !
Ambience ✔️
🥘 ✔️
But I feel the dishes are actually less as compared to other hotels and the taste for some dishes were more like average !
I wouldn’t recommend a shot for food lover
But ambience and feel is too good !
Ps may be the day I went it wasn’t great menu or so

Saturday Night Dinner with friends. We had opted for the Buffet Dinner with Liquor option. Very prompt service throughout the meal by Mr.Mari. Starters were good though limited in variety (Chicken / Fish / Panner / Gobi). Thalassery Chicken Biryani was a nice change. Breads can be ordered at Table. Salad bar was adequate. Good choice in liquor. Desserts section was the standout. All in all a very pleasant evening. Sunday Brunch may be a better option for variety of dishes by the looks of it.
Went for a brunch. The food was lovely.I really liked the interior of the place. There were some tables which was placed outside the main area.Perfect place to unwind with your family and friends. The raspberry sorbet for the desert was out of the world. The taste of it made me take 3 helpings.
Wow, it was a surprise to see all south indian roadside dishes all around the restaurant. Restaurant was celebrating south indian highway delights.. We were 7 office friends n few 1st timers. We booked for Buffet.
Ambience - typical star hotel restaurant with dim lights. Nice and warm.
Starters - all veg starters - panner, baby corn and cauliflower bbqs tasted good with mint chutney. Especially panner was too good. Non veg starters were equally good(comments from friends).
Main course - too many veg food like kuzhi paniyaram, coconut rice, tomato rice n was a treat for veggies. Non veggies had to adjust with mutton biryani n murgh gravy.
Special mentions - kothu parotta, marina sundal were awesome. Only con was chaat. Both pani puri n dahi papdi chaat were very very ordinary.
Desserts - my favorite area.. Hyatt spice haat didnt let me down. I would eat those kola jamun, cashew banana cake and laddoo all day. Still mouth watering while i type this. Hehe.
Service - ppl were good to us and prompt service on demand.
Overall - if you dont worry about the price, you can give a try.
Note - not sure how good it would be there in normal days.
Long time ago I went for a party with my friends in night. I enjoyed lot and spend long time with friends. Pasta was so tasty and biryani was soo awesome.
The food spread and presentation during the Pongal festival was a beauty. Authentic south Indian dishes with delicious savouries. Every dish was equally yummmmm.
Enjoyed the guest service and ambience.
Food - 5/5
Ambience - 4.5/5
Service - 4.5/5
Been here a dozen times for their lunch buffets in the last 7 years! Must say that I've had better 5 star food than this one! They do have a decent spread but somehow the food here doesn't make you wanna go back! Average fare!
Spice Haat, as the restaurant is rightly named is an amalgamation of different cuisines with an interplay of the multitude of spices available in the market.
I was here for a breakfast meeting with an old friend, going over some specifics of our business interest. It’s a whole different place when it comes to dinner, as the lights go dim and the energy comes out. It was a nice setting for an exchange of ideas over great food.
The host was courteous and gave us the best options for a view of the garden outside. The seats were comfortable and we ordered black coffee to start with.
The fare in itself was great with a lot of options to select from. We began with a South Indian idli and sambar and followed it up with some continental dishes with the likes of bagels and toast. The eggs were custom made with the chef more than ready to whip up a great serving.
Coming to the taste, it was delectable. The flavours matched up well and the food lived up to the high standards that the place sets for itself.
The ambience was a blend of the modern with tradition and the overall experience was fantastic and I look forward to visiting again.
Decent enough and worth the price with excellent ambience and service
Even the starters re limited, desserts re awesome
Thanks for your wonderful service
Have with team for dinner. An awesome place with nice ambience with good food and beverages. Serving was good and hotel staffs were responsible enough.
I have visited this place multiple times. The Buffet Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner everything is fabulous. Specially the Sunday Brunch is to Mind Blowing. Only Issue or Minus is the Air Conditioner, say last 5-7 yrs is been bad.
The food and variety is awesome. I especially like the South Indian spread which is absolutely authentic and delicious. Nice selection of desserts especially the coconut milk dessert. Must try!
Service and ambience is very good. It gets crowded on weekends so good to book a table in advance.
Just finished a gargantuan Sunday brunch at Spice Haat . Thought I'd finish my review before I succumb to food coma.
Had been to several dinner buffets at the restaurant in the past but this was my first brunch.
It was styled like a Street food corner with several Live stations offering Kolkata style Katti Rolls,Rumali Rotis,Dosas,Eggs Benedict( one of the best I have tasted i recent times).
In addition to the usual Soup,Salad,Chat and Dessert section ,they also had an Asian section which spilled into the neighboring restaurant.
They had sushi, dim sum, fried rice, noodles and some delectable Thai curries both veg and non veg.
Their live offering was a Japanese style pancake called Okonomiyaki which also happens to be one of my favorite.
It is a light pancake stuffed with veggies and meat and has a miso glaze and mayo squirted on top of it.
What the chef served first was very doughy and did not have the right ratio of meat and veg.So when I pointed it out to him he offered to make me a fresh one according to my suggestion.Full marks to the staff for being so accommodating and for pleasing the customer.
There was a tandoor counter serving veg and non veg kababs, western style grill station,a station serving sliders and an Indian station with non veg and veg main courses .
Desserts at the Spice Haat buffet are always a notch above the othe comparable restaurants and tthey continue to maintain that standard the pick of the lot being Elaneer Payasam with kychee panacotta ( what a fusion!!!) it really did not turn in to a confusion but the taste of both the components blended beautifully.
The cold stone counter was also there with the kids making a beeline for it.
The service was also pretty good with the waiter promptly fetching drinks and bringing in the dishes ordered from the live counters.
Overall Spice Haat Brunch is an expansive buffet where one has to spend some time savouring the varied offerings and my advice is to make sure you have plenty of stomach pace in order to do justice to it.
The sunday brunch is awesome. It was a Goan fest. The pork with applesauce was great. There is a wide variety of food... INDIAN, Chinese and some great sushi too. I felt the desserts could have been better. The ambience is good and the staff are helpful and kind ! Would I go back again for the sunday brunch ? .. I don't think so.

The bliss of entering a restaurant piled with array of breakfast choices breakfast at Spice Haat - Hyatt Regency is a perfect way to start your day .SpiceHaat offers a lavish international spread featuring the finest selection of food to please your appetite. The restaurant has mastered the art of creating a exceptional decandent gastronomic experience from fleshly brewed coffee ,baked breads & croissants to our very own desi breakfast items like idli, dosa ,Puri bhaji.I loved the hot food stations that created favorite to order including omlettes , Sunnyside up, egg benedict but the main attraction was food cooked in Tajine vessel multiple food stations with heaps of food from multiple range of fruit juices to amazing salads topped with amazing service standards and beautiful ambiance .
5 star restaurant indeed! Many varieties of main course and dessert on offer in the buffet. A-la-carte is a better choice for vegetarians like me. You can request for any cuisine from the Indian specialty chefs and the food tastes yummy and healthy.
Actually I have been there for my cooking class after completion I got a chance to taste the lunch buffet in spice hatt.. they have more varieties in lunch menu.. we may confused to choose but it's very tuff to taste all... Taste of the food is good.. Ambience is nice.. Dessert part is excellent pastries cakes 😋😋😋 really really yummy... Must try gooo don't miss it...
Awesome Sunday brunch spread... Very Good hospitality and amazing desserts and a must visit for Cutting glass Tea ;)... My all time favorite Star hotel....kudos
Great food and hospitality.
I had a misconception towards 5 star hotels but ds visit changed it.
Wonderful food and extreme hospitality.
Thank u spice hyatt. :)
A Good welcoming would get you some 3.5+, The Ambience is what I love in all places and Spice Haat dint fail to give. If you're too on a Date then you could really choose this place. They have good and decent Food List to provide us.
It's one of many restaurants inside Hyatt regency which serves Indian cuisines.mainly in lnch hours it serves buffet which I tried. Space is very huge and looks comfortable.service is good. Only starter they will serve at ur table and rest are self service.buffet covers both north and south delicacy.its good but the main highlight is the dessert .it was simply an awsm experience with so many options to choose from.baked curd was my fav so don't miss it
When u r greeted with huge smiles (which may be a requisite in 5 stars) and some lovely chit chat u start liking a place immediately..
Add to that some super whacky tongue in cheek decor.. and testefully done ambiance..
Their buffet spread is a maze in itself and is very exhaustive.. but sadly we had very little space in my tummy !!
So we settled for the veg platter and club sandwich..
While the paneer was aweome their seekh kabab was a little dry.. but tasty nevertheless.
Their clib sandwich was brilliant.. huge in size and spot on in flavors..
And yes.. i had my fav Bailey's irish creme ( which is tought to screw up but still peiple do )
I was first recommended and given a shot glass. But one sip and my insided were on fire.. whoo.. lovely mix.. but i wanted something less fiery so had to go blfor the crushed iced version !! And it was mmmmmmmmmm
Definitely calls for another visit for their buffet !!
It's been a Bengali food weekend for us, that too without spending anything on travel to Bengal. . Hyatt Regency Chennai has recreated the Russell Street of Kolkatta within their All Day Dining Restaurant 'Spice Haat' offering the street treats from the said street of Bengal. The promotion began on February 24 and will be on till March 5, 2017.
If are looking for a lunch date and you want to have buffet, (and you both are foodlovers with quite an appetite) this is where u should take your partner. The moment we entered we loved the ambience. We still shifted two or three tables and found the perfect seating. The trick to dint in peacefully during a buffet setting is you should never really sit near the food counter. The place tends to get crowded, starts smelling, and gets suffocating and hot after a while. You also get to walk to take your food so you will have your bit of exercise and u can eat more!(Works for me atleast)
What we loved the most from the dishes served:
1. The murgh tikka
2. Fish amritsari
3. Their wide range of salads-meat, vegetables, dips, salsa, nachos, bread selections
4. Mutton dum biriyani
5. Fish curry
6. Chicken curry
7. Egg masala
8. Paneer makhani
9. Roti
10. Deep Fried vegetables
11. Pesto Paneer tikka
12. Kaali dal
After eating all this, we had space for the deserts as well (or the stomach automatically knew it needed space). They have the best dessert spread. Everything is a must try. I loved the peanutbutter brownie the best and their chocolate sauce which I poured separately in a bowl (I'm chocoholic like that). The lemon custard was also so refreshing. Blueberry mousse also needs a special mention. Do try their tarts, elaneer payasam and kala jamun. Just eat all you can! 😍
I am planning to go back here every single time I want to eat a buffet spread! Thank you spice haat for a wonderful afternoon. We spent over 4 hours (over)eating at this place. The staff members are so courteous and friendly and make sure you get everything at your table.
Came here for one night stay, beautiful property standing tall in small acre of land.
Spice haat had a decent variety spread all over the hall i must say which was initially confusing too as everything was not visible from one point . Been to other places in South, the spice generally is optimised to take care of guests from all over the world , but here i found food was less spicy.
Initially in dinner I thought that's due to the alot of expat crowd staying here , but breakfast was also the same .
But then soups were good , dessert tiramisu was exceptional , wish had more options in fish items.
Overall fine food which won't give u much of spicy taste but won't bother ur stomach also.
Being a big time skeptic of Restaurants in Star hotels ( thanks to a load of bad memories from a list of bad dinners and lunch at star hotels) ended up at Spice Haat for lunch+business meet.
The ambience was welcoming , with a calm warm demeanour with a perfect urban desi interior.
The buffet menu was quite impressive with a long list to choose from but the impressive factor was the TASTE... was damn good 😀... though I had went for a business talk my mind skipped it and went on to a foodie mode..😆.. am rating it 4 cause I lost track of what all I had for lunch and missed taking photos... will update next time and revise the rating... well might be a test for consistency too 😉
I've been to this restaurant four times. Twice for breakfast and twice for dinner. It is a very nice place. However I do need to draw attraction to the fact that birth the times I went for breakfast the air conditioning wasn't working. It did work for dinner though. Though amazing breakfast buffet did however make up for the AC. Everything was absolutely delicious. I love this restaurant and I'm sure Il go back again.
P.S: Try the waffles and pancakes. No one do but they are tooo good to be true.

We had the loveliest New Year Brunch from Spice Haat. The beginning of the year with such awesome food. There were different cuisines and pretty much tried everything. The salad spread was splendid. Desserts were the spark on.
Briyani, a dish that almost everyone craves and loves in our country and I am no exception to it. Spice Haat is hosting a Briyani festival which will be on till December 10, 2016. We were invited to try their exciting varieties of Briyani.
There are five varieties of Briyani prepared for the dinner buffet everyday and the style of cooking and the meat used differs each day. One of which is the special carved Briyani. We got to try the Turkey Briyani which was the day’s special.
We started with a Wonderful Watermelon Mojito and some appetizers. They served two veg and two non-veg starters. Both the non-veg starters were superb. As our focus was more on the Briyanis, I didn’t try other dishes from the buffet. But they had quite a lot of options in the Indian as well as the continental section.
There were four non-veg and one veg Briyani. I tried all the non-veg Briyanis. Out of all the Briyanis I loved the Lamb Briyani most. It had succulent pieces of meat and the blend of spices gave an amazing flavor to the Briyani. The Squid Briyani was the second best. The rice had a mild infusion of the seafood flavor. The Ambur Kozhi Briyani tasted okay. It didn’t impress us much. Turkey Briyani was good but I felt the rice didn’t have a distinctive flavor.
Desserts, they had a huge variety in this section too. There were six gateaux, one Pudding, two Jamuns, Ilaneer Payasam, Coffee pot and a Mousse. I liked almost all the desserts. Coffee pot was the best of all we tried, it was mind-boggling. The next best thing would be the Queen’s pudding.
Cannot comment on the pricing as it was on invitation. When inquired, we learnt that the price of this special buffet is Rs 1550/- plus taxes. While the A La Carte offer with beer starts from Rs 999 plus taxes.
Having been underwhelmed by Focaccia just the previous week, my expectations from Spice Haat were low. Those expectations were, however, exceeded by some way.
The thing that impressed me the least was the ambiance. There were some desultory attempts to create a local spice market ambiance, but really, if you aren't going to take it to an extreme (think Pind overloading on the dhaba feel), it may be better to not make an effort.
The service was faultless. Most high end dining does come with super attentive service, but they managed to be attentive without being excessively fawning, which isn't easy to do. Its hard to define what it was, but overall there was a perceptible air of class about the whole thing.
The food was pretty good on the whole. The stand out feature is the sheer variety they had on offer for the Sunday brunch. It is virtually impossible for anyone to come away without finding some cuisine or dish that they like- chaat, North India, South Indian, Continental, Asian and a bewildering number of desserts.
The individual dishes themselves were in total, well above average. With the sheer number of dishes available, it is perhaps inevitable that one or two miss the mark, but even these suffered only in comparison to other dishes available. On their own, they were pretty good.
The dessert section was especially impressive. One could easily make an entire meal out of the offerings here, were one so inclined.
Pricing is the fly in the ointment as it usually is in a restaurant inside a hotel. at 1850 plus tax, there is no way, just no way the price is justified. There was a lot of good food, great service and coming here was a very pleasing experience, but the reality is there are places that provide an experience every bit as good at a fraction of the price. Which makes the price tag here, to me, indefensible.
Overall Conclusion: The quality of the offering can be judged by the fact that I think it's worth 3.5 despite having a price tag that could double as elephant tranquilizer. A place to go when its time to impress someone.
Lavish buffet spread with large vegetarian and non veg selections both north and south indian cuisine. Staff is also cooperative and helpful especially Bhaswati.
Well quiet a premium buffet, costs around 1800/- per person. The variety and taste of the food was good and the service was tidy as well, they even bring food based on request. But was totally disappointed with the dessert section, the desserts were really bad and not much to explore as well. If the dessert isle is the place for you guys to wander around, this is not the choice of buffet you guys should go to.
I loved the place ! Manian was such a lovely host, he gave us juice and tea immediately when we asked for it even when it was no there. Such a good person and I loved the hospitality
Atmosphere is very good. Food tasted average and some items were below par in taste. But the service and attitude of the staff was excellent. It was a very crowded evening when we went for dinner, but the staff were doing everything to meet the needs.
We went for the lunch buffet. The spread was really good. All the food that we had was tasty. We loved the ambience. Colourful and picture perfect. The guy who served our table was polite. Thank you hyaat!
Ambience and service was good. Especially Mr.Biplop provided much needed help and service.
The taste of the food was good except it could have been hot.. most of the dishes including starters were not hot.. Also the pizza and pasta served from the live counter was hard to consume.
Overall we had a good team time
Best place for brunch buffet I would say.. you ll have all possible cusines available out there. It was too good.
Spacious and clean ambience. Customer service was prompt and good.Food tasted really nice and they keep on introducing new menus occasionally.Had veg soup ,Biriyani and samosa.Tasted good and subtle. No fancy ingredients were added.Samosa was huge.Didn't expect that.Would definitely recommend.
Hi Google users,
I had visited Spice Haat for lunch on 25-Dec.

Lots of veg and non-veg verities, especially types of Biriyani like mutton, chicken, fish, prawn like that. Only thing we have go and surch for items because the dishes were placed at different places. Service also nice.
The restaurant is located inside Hotel Hyatt regency in Chennai. We have eaten buffet lunch and breakfast at the restaurant. As is true at most luxury hotels, the prices of a la carte items make the buffet option attractive. So we chose the buffet. The theme of decor and props are based on traditional madrasi culture. They had stainless steel utensils and kitchen gadgets for decor.
The choice of items is wide. They had items from various cuisines. The food was tasty and authentic. The staff are attentive and efficient. They have suggestions from the live stations for the guests to choose. Even the western cuisine items were tastefully made. They also had healthy choices. The guests are spoilt for choice. Choosing what to eat is a difficult job. I liked the cheesy items from the west , the yoghurts with dry fruits and the chocolate desserts.
And the 5 star experience is 💯 the ambience, the food, the customer friendly service... Made us to get a awesome experience as foodies🤩😋 about food we went with the lunch buffet it was mouth watering with live counters for chat, starters, main courses in multi cuisines in both veg and nonveg💫 desserts are delicious and for chocolate lovers like me it is must try one 😋😋
