The taste wise 100% satisfaction, even my small kid they don't know the dish names, but he loves the food and taste. Espcially mutton biriyani, nattukozhi and Nalli fry must try dishes. even lunch and dinner both given 100% satisfaction.

My first experience with Junior Kuppanna goes back to 2013, and I fell in love with their food instantly. Over the years, I’ve had many good and not-so-good experiences with Junior Kupanna. One thing that has consistently been a complaint is their quantity! Minuscule portions, hardly enough for a kid, priced quite high though! I’ve never had issues with their taste. I personally felt sad when so many of their outlets shut shop in the last few years.
Quality is perfect but quantity was too low... And great food really delicious. Mutton pieces good but need some quantity. Packing also too good
Tried their small portion of Mutton Biryani. Quality of ingredients , especially mutton and their preparation are note worthy. Accompaniment of raita, curry , egg give further prop to the dish.Served in banana leaf ,further enhances the taste.
Had a wonderful lunch with team mates. The taste of briyani is melting one. Best briyani ever had in chennai. But they should concentrate on quantity also. Extra white rice they are providing for briyani which is good gesture.
Great ambience.. Good service .. Good taste.. Worth for your money..
My go to place whenever i feel like having a different style of biryani, rather than d regular basmathi rice biryanis. Here the biryani rice is a bit wet, with all the spices mixed up, decent portion of meat. Overall a must try biryani for all the biryani lovers. The only thing that's a downside is the quantity..! Which is very less, and also the rate you're paying is pretty high.
Anywhich ways u can enjoy ur biryani here and u will be satisfied..! :)
Good food but little on the expensive side. Except for the entrance to the restaurant, which looks like you're going through the service entrance, the ambience inside is good. The girls who serve food are very polite and have a smile on their face. 5 stars for service.
We went here on a Saturday afternoon around 2. The building is not exactly on the main road, so if you dont really know where you're going it might be tough to find it. The restaurant is in an apartment building which has been converted. There is enough parking downstairs and they also have drivers to park your car as some parking spots are little cramped. We were a group of 8 people. We got a table as soon as we walked in. The guy who served us was patient and took our orders and they came in as and when they were ready. We ordered few non-veg meals, one special meal (which is veg), one mutton biryani, brain fry, chicken 65, natukozhi fry, one chicken fried rice and a kalaki egg. The meals with the non veg curries were really good. The special meals was the highlight with so many veg curries, biryani rice and a sweet. We always enjoy the natukozhi fry and we ordered 2 of it. The brain fry vanished within seconds. Overall, always a great experience eating in Junior Kuppanna. I would have give 5 stars if not for the smelly hand wash area.

Great food, if u love traditional South Indian food, pls do try, meals gravy is awesome, if you love kudol, pls try it's awesome, I have tried at velachery
This place is a must visit for foodies! Have been a fan of their bangalore branches! We checked in pretty late, about 1030. Ordered Kothu, Ghee Parotas which came with delicious gravy! The food is flavourful, lip smacking, and hot! Service is super fast! And easy on pocket! Next time will dive into their biriyani and other non veg items! Had a really nice dinner.

Happy with the taste of all the dishes.. it's so nice if you are looking for typical South Indian madurai dishes.. parrota is very soft and it's tasted good with kurma which they have provided.. mutton keema quantity was very less but the taste and tenderness of the meet is awesome.. chilli parrota was average since the spicyness we're less in it.. liked the egg parrot as well.. recommended place..
Hotel Junior Kuppanna is located at kannaih street, North Usman road. We went to this place at early hours on Sunday, so that we can avoid the crowd. We ordered mutton biryani, chicken biryani, chicken pallipalayam and vanjiram fry. Food was great but not like finger licking good stuff. I think their USP is the ghee factor which will enhance the taste of every dish. But the major backdrop is quantity which is way below the normal. The quantity was very less when compared to the amount we paid. I want to suggest them that they should at least increase the quantity by 25 to 30%. Ambience of this place was okay nothing fancy and service was also okayish. I want to give 3.5 but there is no option, so i gave 4.
This is the best branch of Junior Kuppanna’s in Chennai and we always overindulge but never regret it. First, the erode-style biryani is amazing here: subtle and fragrant, oozing with ghee and perfectly soft mutton pieces. We always order brain fry which is exceptional, almost cheesy and the mutton nalli roast. Their meals are generous servings and I would recommend the veg meals with an assortment of non veg masalas and roasts on the side. If anything is not cooked to your liking you can send it back (preferably intact!) and they will replace it happily. Quick service, great staff, amazing food here every time!
I would say this is the bessst place ever to have the tasty biryani. Everything about kuppanna is best. Especially their Non veg range and the original, my fav ever biryani..❤
Every time I visit Chennai I plan my trip around a meal or two at Junior Kuppanna. They have several branches but the one at T Nagar is the best. They are known for their South Indian non vegetarian food. Eating veg there is a crime according to me. Last night I ordered my regular Mutton Pallipalayam, Vanjaram Fish Tawa Fry, and the ultimately delicious Mutton Biryani.

Since I am from Erode.. I know the authentic taste of kuppanna.. Where i used to have non veg in my school days in Erode before 10 long years..
But I never tried out in Chennai.. Junnior kuppana is as good as the old Kuppana..
Mutton Briyani , Pallipalayam chicken , Natukozhli Chukka standsout from others..
Taste : 4/5
Value of Money : 3.5/5
I'm a frequent visitor to the Junior Kuppanna branch at OMR since it's closer to work. I love their seeraga samba biriyani and the South Indian meals. I usually don't prefer having meals anywhere outside but it's good that I didn't miss it here.
On a Saturday night I visited the T.Nagar branch with family. We ordered mutton biriyani, parotta, egg veech parotta, chicken chukka & naatu kozhi gravy. The biriyani was rich and full of flavours and with a side of delish onion raitha. The parottas were flaky and super soft. It went really well with the gravy. Egg veechu parotta was good. Chicken chukka and the naatu kozhi gravy were simply delicious.
It costed only 2.4k for 10 people. This is a really good place when looking for tasty south Indian food.
Being an Expat who only gets to taste such food once a year, my rating may seem a bit biased.
That said, my experience of Junior Kuppanna (T-Nagar Branch) has been exceptional.
Service levels, Cleanliness, Quality (Portions size and taste), authenticity of flavors, and the overall satisfaction with my last meal here 2 years ago has been unmatched for Chettinadu food.
The Biriyani (Jera Samba), The veechu Parota, The curries and gravies each one left lasting impressions.
I tried in vain to get similar levels of satisfaction at the Singapore branch, and even in Bangalore they were no match to the original first tasting experience.
I love the kothu parotta both veg and non veg at this restaurant... biriyani will be good but not great... I recommend people to try meals or South Indian variety...
A good traditional Tamil Non veg restaurant
Nice , quick service
Must try
1. Pallipalayam chicken /mutton
2.Nalli bone fry
3.Ghee parrota
4.Mutton briyani
5.Fish kolambu
6.Kolla urundai
Wonderful food, good quality, very nice and patient staff, value for money.
The netthil fry is awesome. The special thali has a good variety.
Suggested by a foodie friend and I wasn't disappointed at all... considering it was my last meal ( lunch) in Chennai for this visit. I highly recommend the mutton biryani and mutton Sukha... amazing flavours and outstanding quality.
A must visit ... would have given a 5/5 but something is stopping me from doing so.
Being a pure vegetarian...,,,, I started tasting briyani only bcoz of JK..,,, excellent foods...,,, everything we tried was awesome...,,, can improve the quantity of briyani served..,,, a must try recipe is nalli fry...,,,, finger licking briyani served with thick onion raitha and gravy... appreciable thing is the flesh in all the dishes was cooked well and it’s very soft...,,, very traditional masala Taste that triggers ur taste buds ....,,,final Touch is the thick chilled semiya payasam ...,,, yummy yummy 😋 pricing is worth the taste of that food...,,, service and ambience: good
Amazing place!!
Place that comes with lot of heritage and popularity..
Not pleasing at the first look as you walk in , yet the strength lies with the quality of food and the playful service. They speak and adjust to your mood over the conversation.
One of the best tasting biryani in city I've tasted so far with good value for money.
Wil definitely come back.
Went their for a weekday lunch. Ordered Chicken Pallipalyam, Mutton Gravy, Mutton Pepper Fry, Vanjaram Tava Fry, Parotta, half cooked Egg, and Fresh Lime Soda. Parotta and Chicken Pallipalyam were decent. Everything else, average.
Fantastic authentic south Indian food like always! Loved the chicken 65, kuttu parantha and the prawn curry. They have come a long way in terms of their magnitude of operations. This particular outlet had many floors with each having its own kitchen.
Was amazed to see how packed it was on all floors. Wish we open outlets like these in the north as well. Look forward to many more of your delicious dishes in the times to come. Great going guys!!
The anbience is good. We headed here for a late dinner !!! And the food here was soo damn good !!!! Even the veg kurma and kal dosai tasted way beyond expectations !!! Great place. The price is normal.
Ambience 4/5
services 4/5
Taste 3.8/5
Great Southern Style Restaurant.
Had the Mutton Biryani and Vanjaram Tawa Fry.
The Biryani was heavy with lot of ghee and the mutton was boneless and cut into small pieces and mixed with the rice.
The Fish was out of the world.
Taste is one of the best in Chennai.
Definitely recommend.
One of the best non veg restaurants in town. Placed in the most popular place in chennai,it has got its own value.

Food - 8.5

The food was so delicious and mouth watering. Iam nt a big fan of non veg food wen it comes to restaurants but planned this place for my friend. Once I tasted their parotta and salna I wanted to try more. The spices and ingredients felt like homemade food. The vanjaram fry was amazing. The Briyani was great though the quantity was less.
The money is totally worth the food. Will surely visit this place again and again.
I also recommend Only to visit their t.nagar branch,(becoz I tried Anna Nagar branch and wasted money) other branch are waste and useless. T.nagar branch is their first branch. Only t.nagar branch serves good food. I had their mutton biryani ordered through swiggy, taste of Biriyani is great, it has a blend of ghee. And cashew nuts in it. Mutton pieces are roasted with ghee, they are so soft and tender. Tasted great, I also like their palipalayam chicken fry and parrota. If you visit this restaurant you must try their Biriyani and palipalayam chicken fry, which is most recommended their outlet.
Awesome food! Amazing taste and great staff.. love the way they take care in serving every single dish.. would definitely recommend this place for a quick dinner fix!
Went there yesterday for Sunday lunch. They place was buzzing with crowd but we got a nice cozy table for us. They service guy was fast and on his toes. We ordered a non veg meal, a mutton Biryani and chicken chukka. All three were just prefect specially the Biryani which was very flavourful. But one disappointment that they did not have anything to drink not even lemon soda. But however overall experience was very good. Sorry guys no pics this time as my little giving me a tough time in the restaurant throwing the cutlery on the floor😝😂
Was in Chennai for a week and undertook a self appointed mission to eat biryani twice a day, every day for a week. kupanna was day 6 and it was easily in the top 2 biryanis I had that week. My family had the seer fish curry which was totally amazing and packed with that tangy punch that makes all the difference. The country chicken roast was another highlight as was the nethili fry. Actually come to think of it all the dishes were good. I love this place because they focus on a single type of cuisine and the food really sings.
I have been here to this branch of Junior kuppana it is an awesome place and delicious food when compared to other branches.
Recommend this to people seeking good south Indian food in t nagar to this one.
Highlights,
1. Faster serving tan other branches
2. Chicken chukka
3. Mutton and chicken biryani
Hello all! I love all kinds of Biriyani! But the Biriyani here, tops it all!it's not the usual type of Biriyani! It has small grain rice, cashew and ghee which gives it a different flavour which I absolutely relish😍it's oily and I'll be very happy if they correct it! But taste wise it's the best❤Onion raita which comes along with Biriyani is also rich and good👍I also tried fish 65 and chicken 65 here which were good! Quality was good but quantity was less!!my parents ordered non veg meals and liked it!! My friend loves veg kothubarotta here!there was a branch near sathyam theatre which is close to my house! But now they've closed it and A2B is there now😥😫😤I wish they bring it back😖
You just have to eat here if you are in Chennai- provided you love nonveg food. Period. This is a must do on every South Indian nonveg Foodies list

For someone not used to the custom of eating on a banana leaf in a very long time, this was a refreshing experience. Mutton biryani, chicken biryani and chicken cukka were all worth a try.
Probably the one of the rarest restaurants in chennai that serves good Seeraga Sambha Biriyani. The taste was yummy. But i have an issue with the quantity they serve. I would also recommend foodies to try their Kotthu Parottas and Chicken Pallipaalayam.
A must try for a foodie new to Chennai.... Amazing non vegetarian food. The bheja fry, the prawn curry Wonderful stuff.
It's the Non-veg 101 for foodies visiting Chennai.
I have visited this restaurant a couple of times and the food is of decent taste.
Food: 3.5/5

An OK experience.
Junior Kuppanna is one of the very few restaurants in Chennai to serve good Non-veg south indian food, The seafood variety is a big plus for the restaurant and they have some amazing prawns & fish dishes
I usually the T. Nagar branch as its the original & recommended by most of the people
Ambience:- There is a lot of emphasis on cleanliness and the hall is kept simple & clean, the food is served on a banana leaf and the ambience represents the culture of Chennai.. simple and no fuss.
The focus is purely on quality
What to Eat:- I tried most of the dishes from different Dosas to Chicken Sukka, Mutton fry & Prawns masala... the food is great and speaks volumes of the quality and ingredients that the restaurant has maintained in so many years. Chicken & Mutton Biryani is what most of the guests prefer or Parotha with chicken or mutton curry
Service:- Service is very prompt and they help you choose as per your taste
The only negative about the place is that one may feel that the portions are limited as per the price, which could be big negative if you are going for an outing as you may have to order the same dish twice..
I still prefer visiting the same place because there are many places giving quantity and not quality but i prefer quality over quantity
Best hotel taste of the dishes are absolutely awesome ! But the quantity of the starter dishes is very less but tastes good.. Briyani's quantity was correct. I ordered mutton briyani it was awesome..

Great taste especial mutton kola urunda.
Portion little bit less especially biryany .overall the food was delicious and the staff was very polite
One of the few places where you get very genuine authentic South Indian food in the city. Have visited this outlet on several occasions. The T Nagar branch is the original restaurant in Chennai ( and the only place that continues to serve great food , the restaurants at other branches aren't that good enough).
The ambience is very simple and during most of my visits, the place has been heavily crowded. The food served here is super fresh and yum. The must haves are their biryani, meals, mutton & chicken chukka, mutton Nalli fry. They also provide the most amazing raitha along with the biryani. The quantities are the only let down with this place ( they are priced at very high rates for the quantity of food). But I wouldn't mind eating from this restaurant once in a while😆😋.

All the nonveg lovers must visit this place! Their biriyani is the best! I would always recommend dine-in. Their sides are all delicious, but come in small quantities for the price we pay! Definitely worth the taste! Staff are friendly and service is quick!
Enjoyed the meal here ..... please try the parota , the dry mutton masala and the pot gravy here with poached egg. The spices are just in the right proportion and the food tastes excellent
One of the best south Indian biryani... Love their leg piece masala... They have a limited menu but nearly all the dishes taste good. On the down side they are too pricey for the quantity seved
Shut your eyes and put your finger on any item on the menu, then order. This place will not disappoint you at all. They have a distinct yet delicious variety of non veg food. I crave for such food. In particular, I love chicken palipalayam, brain fry , plain dosa with accompaniments and followed by payasam. They tick all the boxes.Simple joint and not for special occasions but yes, for special food. Hope you love it as much as I do.
Good food. All dishes are good. But price is comparatively costly compared to other Restaurants. Ambience - 4/5, service -4/5 food - 3.5/5 vfm - 3/5
Naatukozhi soup: 4/5
Naadu chicken fry: 4/5
Chicken biryani (Seeranga samba rice): 4/5
Naatukozhi soup: This was very different from the regular soups available in restaurants in terms of looks. It looked like some rasam filled with chicken pieces. We were on a trip to chennai and were apprehensive to try this out (Always extra cautious to try liquid items while travelling). Nevertheless, we tried it and it tasted great. Every spoonful was filled with chicken flavour (unlike other soups where chicken flavour is present only when taken with chicken pieces). Good. 4/5
Naadu chicken fry: Whoa! Great dish. Good amount of spices and masala to the chicken fry. Quantity was bit less but OK. 4/5
Chicken biryani (Seeranga samba rice): We ordered mutton biryani but it wasn't available. So we got chicken biryani instead. I didn't see the type of rice in the menu card and when the biryani was kept on the table, we were bit shocked to see the type of rice which wasn't basmati rice. We really didn't know that Seeranga samba rice is grown in Tamil Nadu and generally used in biryani's. We digged in anyway. It tasted great along with the gravy which was provided. Another style of biryani to look forward to. 4/5
Hotel Junior Kuppanna is located at kannaih street, North Usman road. We went to this place at early hours on Sunday, so that we can avoid the crowd. The best hotel and a must visit in Chennai. Especially this branch is the best when it comes to service and taste.chickem Biryani , chicken boneless sukka is a must try.
The traditional non-veg restaurant, we went to Junior Kuppana. It's not a fancy restaurant but serves very good delicious food. We ordered the mutton Biriyani and parota. Both were absolutely delicious. The staff were well organised and polite but coming to quantity is very less and find it slightly costlier..
The food is just brilliant. The Biriyani is to die for, clearly crowded on Sundays. All the others days it's just fine. The appetizers are really soothing, and peppered chicken is a hit. Had a great experience.. The staffs are so polite and well mannered and are on their feet to help you out with anything
Outstanding food and reasonably priced restaurant, sadly on my this visit yhey had run out of most of the signature dishes but the biriyani i got and bheja fry was great. Shall be back soon.
Food is served on banana leaves. The briyani is excellent and spicy to some extent. Food is great
Good food for reasonable price. One of the best restaurants near T. Nagar.
. We tried kallu dosa, porotta and mutton pallipalayam. Pallipalayam was delicious.. must try.
First time we have tried here. The food was good and the position of each dishes are very little. Service must improve alot.
What a fantastic place!! Must visit for 1st timers in the city. Reasonably priced and food bursting in flavors!! Porota mutton sukka, prawn fry, Biriyani are among some of the must tries here.
Very nice south indian non veg food... Portion on small size..
Food was good. We tried kallu dosa, porotta and mutton pallipalayam. Pallipalayam was delicious.. must try.
Lovely food. Their special dosas and paranthas are too good.
Meals is good both veg and non-veg. Biriyani was also good!
Nice food ,with awesome flavour food
It's an authentic South Indian restaurant. You will usually find it overflowing with customers on weekends. The taste is slightly spicy. The quantity of serving for the starter is less. The service is really good. The Parottas here as very soft. The restaurant is good overall.
