The kind of hospitality and food quality they offer is unbearable. The service is really awesome. Their welcome style is pure indian. The North Indian restaurant cousins make you hungry and the taste is like pure indian that you never had before. Taj is THE TAJ..!!
Definitely the experience was exceptional..the service was excellent..food was beyond good and great value for money..I had dinner there and trust me everything was soooo delicious that I can't really tell you..from starters to dessert everything was just yum..I could go on but suffice it to say that I am very pleased by the gesture service and food..I hope to be back very soon for the buffet in Taj Coromandel... loved it...thumbs up!!

i loved this place have come to party after a long time and I think it was the best 🎉👍🏻
Love the restaurant anise it's 24hours, Great place to come with your family for a late night snack, Taj coramendal always keeps its standards
One of the best places for Chinese. We visited this Sunday and I must thank chef Venkat for being so accommodative .
We were a group of three people with three different food restrictions. One with blood sugar issues and could not eat most veggies and sauces, another with dairy restriction and the third person with sensitivity to spice.
Chef Venkat and team took time to understand the restrictions and prepared food as per our choice and taste. They also made special sauce with no sugar and less spice to go with our starters.
When a dedicated team serves you hot and fresh food, the meal becomes special automatically. Kudos to the team for helping us out. We will visit again!
OMG, it was really good experience I had at Golder Dragon last night... My favourite prawns are always out of the world and I welcome the new tongue watering menus as well...A perfect to fill your stomach and relax your mind...I really need to give a hi5 to the Steward Mr.Benjamin for his welcoming attitude and service. On the whole I would always happy to give a 5 stars...
Top-class Chinese restaurant - amongst the best, if not the best in Chennai. We ordered their lotus stem honey and chili which was extremely well made. Their stir-fried grouper was excellent too along with the stir-fried asparagus in garlic and olive oil. Needless to mention, the service was what was expected in a Taj restaurant - professional and courteous. Very pricey - but absolutely worth the money if you are looking for a top-notch experience.
Dishes we tried are stir fried tenderloin with oyster sauce, hunan fried rice, lobster in butter garlic sauce and prawn dimsum. No complaints. Just enjoyed the awesome food and the calm ambience. Very soothing experience. Excellent place to have authentic chinese food. Period.
Amazing place... Taj as it is... It was the most child friendly place v have ever visited... Wen v were wondering to order for our 1.4 Yr old baby... The restraunt prepared a special fried rice wit less spice just for a kid... Had an amazing experience... Would surely love to visit...
Haven’t been here in ages!!!! Grew up eating here as a kid and the taste hasn’t changed a bit same amazing food and amazing service!!!!! It’s expensive but the experience is worth every penny!!!! Kudos for maintaining the standards!!! Must visit!!!!

Like all the Golden Dragons, this one happens to be good too. Though my favourite is still the one at Taj Mahal, Mumbai. Peking Duck here is good too, have eaten here many times, mainly during my stays at the Hotel. Nothing much to say as they good things very well..., a great place always.
One of the best Asian restaurants chennai has to offer. The staff were courteous. I would definately recommend the juicy crab dim sum , prawn dim sum , lobster in chilly butter sauce and the baked fish wrapped in banana leaf.
The ambience is good too. Overall an amazing experience
Outstanding food.. especially the peanut butter soup and the lotus stem honey chilli.. overwhelmingly delicious. Even though expensive, it's worth all your money
Recently visited this place in Taj , I must say i have not been reluctant of restaurants in star hotels as most of them does not care about the taste of the food as much as they care about hospitality but this place was an exception. The taste of the food was amazing. My order was Golden dragon chicken with cashew and fried chilli and cantonese fried rice and lotus stem fried in honey. Everything tasted very good but lotus stem stir fried in honey was the winner. Lastly i would like to specially thank our "men in black" my waiter Benjamin was absolutely courteus and downright helpful. He made sure everything was set in our table and was very polite throughout, this is thr type of customer service that one needs to experience especially if you are set up in a star hotel. Price is obviously on the higher side which can be reduced. Other than that a must place to visit.
one of the best place to have Chinese food in chennai. price is worth for quality , service and ambience. Benjamin is the person who taken care our table and he served extremely good. we called him multiple times and he served very humble. his service is much appreciated and he is so professional. we will definitely back to the restaurant at least for his great service

If you’re a Chinese food lover , Golden dragon is the place to be.
The moment you enter the ambience draws you in and their service and hospitality were exceptional and they did everything to pamper us

2) Fried aspharagus tofu and taro dumpling - chilli garlic oil proved to be a compliment 🥟
3) Lotus stem honey chili - Not a big fan of lotus stem until I had this dish . Was too good 🌷
4) Kung pao chicken - Excellent as always
5) Lo hon shang shu -assorted mushrooms and vegetables .Raw but that’s order if you want to eat the Chinese way .
6) Stir Fried Fish with XO sauce and Lotus stem babycorn Trio Sauce with Vegetable Rice and Noodles ❤️
7) Wok tossed Chilli garlic noodle - Nothing to complain . Excellently made noodle 🍜

It was pleasure to visit Golden Dragon..We ordered mainly seafoods..the taste was too good. They also suggested some of their specialties..all foods were just awesome. The behaviour of the staffs made the things even better :)
My family’s Favourite Restaurant ❤️ love the food here !! Don bok chicken, chilli garlic prawns and honey chilli lotus stem also the crispy lamb and chicken sui mai are amazing to try ! Love the wonton soup too . Ambience is beautiful and romantic .Dont forget to have d jasmine tea ! Enjoy 🥂
A month long stay at Taj Coromandel and yes, had to eat at all the restaurants. After relishing that wholesome meal experience in Southern Spice, it was time for some Chinese food at Golden Dragon. Again, the ambience draws you in. There is a different feel to the place and you are made to feel very relaxed and welcome. The waiters are charming and efficient.
It is true that when in doubt, go by the chef's recommendation! And, whoa! what a moreish delectable recommendation it was!
Water chestnut dumplings, Lotus stem honey chilli, Crispy prawns and wok tossed vegetable chilli garlic noodles were a treat to the tastebuds.
The flavours initially, at the first bite, seem to be a bit straight-forward and then suddenly turn complex. The blend of ingredients utilised in each dish left a lasting tingle on the tastebuds. And, my search for that authentic Chinese food in Chennai ends here!
The food was so knock-out good, that I honestly never wanted the dinner to end.
Food- 5.0
Ambience- 5.0
Service-5.0
Value for money-5.0
If you love Oriental food, specifically Chinese. Then you will look for authenticity more than anything else. In India, our judgement of Chinese food is a little tainted with the localization of the Chinese cuisine. Golden Dragon offers that authenticity, right from the Sui Mai till the Jasmine Tea served to you, everything underlines authenticity. This has become my go-to restaurant when I am craving for something Oriental. The price considerably decent compared to the other Pan Asian restaurants situated in Premium Hotels (Chennai). Everything is good but the Sui Mais are worth a few servings.
I visited Golden Dragon during restaurant week and it was totally worth it. The food was delicious and since I went with a couple of friends, I could taste the whole range of dishes being offered. The ambience was decent and the service was good, but would have liked the servers to have been a bit more prompt with their responses. A good visit overall.
Amazing food! I've had most of the type of food and everything is yummy... Really well cooked. The soup as an appetizer is amazinggggg!! with some prawns, tofu and some vegetables. I really appreciate the chefs for making such delicious food. Some items I found them slightly oily. May be they can work on that. Rest apart I had great time with my friends.
Amzing place for a perfect dinner with your loved one ! Really pleasant ambient to be on a Date . The staff is very courteous and kind . The food is great and the place is a must visit .🌺
Our visit to ‘Restaurant of the week 2017’ had a grand beginning @ Golden Dragon, Taj Coramandel. I am so glad that I booked well in advance this time, since I missed it last year. The ambience and service are the best, particularly at one of the best Taj property, there is nothing more anyone can ask for.

Ambience : lovely ambience with personal dinning area.
All in all a great experience 👍🏻
This is the Chinese restaurant within Taj and we went for a dinner. The waiter recommended a starter made using lotus roots and the portions was huge and the food was excellent. The restaurant is quite cosy and peaceful and also has a private dining area if you request in advance. Excellent dining option.
Serves good quantity and food is tasty.
Its great place for people who don't like spicy food but love Chinese.
A great place to come with family and friends.
This is good as usual no big flaws., but the dish we ordered could have been a bit better., being a regular visitor to this restaurant., we keep trying different dishes every time we come here but today's dish., a chicken starter was an it hard and oily., part from this everything is fine as usual
Mazing staff . Wonderful ambience .
Lovely staff . Excellent service. Superb security features. Nice place to relax.
Wonderful staff and wonderful food.
I went to this place last week , the food was amazing , nice ambience and lovely lighting. The staff were very curteous and helpful . They had suggested very good options , they knew their menu well. This was one of the better fine dinning restaurants I have been in town .
Typical .. just the name --- TAJ -- silver-ware..
The bao was okayish.
The beef was killer .
The noodles was a total bummer --
Yeah..
You don't make mistakes twice ..
It was a great experience on a Valentine's Day at golden dragon !!! There was a watermelon juice with a little heart on it !!! Great food great ambience !!!
1. Honey chilli lotus stem !! - ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️best !!!
2. Litchee ice cream !!!⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
3. Dumplings!!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️
4. Dragon chicken !!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️
It's a great place and really hoping to visit again !!!!!!
Absolutely adore this place. The food is simply divine! I've tried almost every vegetarian dish on the menu and love them all. There's an extensive beverage menu as well that complement the food. The service is great and prompt. Yes it's a little expensive but I think it's totally worth it.
This is one of my favorite Chinese places in town. The service levels here have always been exceptional. The food has always been great. And of course the ambiance is everything one can expect from a fine dining restaurant. One can definitely be assured of a really good dining experience each time.
During my last visit, had their Sour and Pepper soup and Chow Mein. Both were excellent.
Definitely recommended!!
Found it during my business travel recent to Chennai. It is actually a very nice Chinese place serving quite authentic Chinese but adopted to Indian taste. Great service and overall experience. Service was at 5 star level. Would definitely recommend set menu with a large serving of lotus stem chili honey and chocolate dumplings to end.
All of a sudden my taste buds demanded chinese food, and Mom like always knew where to go. The Restraunt is very neat and tidy and of Taj standards, it has a beautiful ambience, is very peaceful and obviously being a 5-star hotel has all the right thing in all the right places :).
The food was very good. We ordered 2 types of soup, 3 starters which were water chest nut dimsums, golden corn cakes, and one mix veg stir fry dish.
I would like to put to notice one particular dish which was the Cantonese fried rice, which did not look like and Chinese dish because it was cooked in a banana leaf and the way it was made, but don't skip it, it was brilliant. The other orders we did were good like Hakka noodles and a black pepper mix veg gravy dish.
The Restraunt staff and manger were very courteous and the cook had specially prepared a full 3 course meal for dad who does not have onion and garlic and it was the first time I heard him say that he relishes Chinese food made outside home.
The pricing can't complain is of any 5 star rates and worth it
Only one issue is the waiting time, when you don't pre book the table. I had to wait around 15-20 minutes even when the table was available but not setup
The golden Dragon of my childhood in Madras was just something else. It was magical! I still visit for dinner whenever i'm in town, but some of the magic has gone. The food is inconsistent. Depends on the chef, I guess. Service is not like the Taj of old, but nothing to complain. Still lovely for a long evening.
One of the top options in Chennai for great Chinese food. The selection of Chinese teas is excellent. Their Oolong tea is really good.
Prawn Sui mai is excellent and so is the Golden Dragon special chicken. Soups are really good too. Not to forget their great fried noodle dessert with ice cream to finish off!
restaurant in taj coromandal are as i m not tired of speaking about them and recommending them to some and golden dragon comes another addition to this recommendation.their interiors r dim red lighted.we ordered veg dimsum and crispy lobster which were just superb in taste.high on pocket but that has to be if u want a luxury dining like this.
For this year's RWI, four of us decided to try the Chinese restaurant, Golden Dragon which is in Taj Coromandel. The restaurant is on the ground floor of the hotel and everything screams oriental right from the moment you enter it. Lanterns that are significant to the Chinese along with cute Chinese paraphernalia adorn the whole place and give out a charm that lifts the whole place up.
Restaurant Week India or RWI as its fondly called is an event where diners can treat themselves to fine dining at a fraction of the price that will normally cost in those places. But the catch is that it is a set menu thing where you could choose only from that.
From the soup section we had the Mushroom and Mint Clear Soup and Chef Ho's Tomato Seafood Clear Soup. The veg soup had the distinct minty flavour along with mushrooms floating in it. Was okay but the seafood soup was very strong in flavour apparently.
Appetisers were chosen from the set menu that contained four veg and non veg starters. We chose the Water Chestnut and Cilantro Dumplings from the veg section. Sichuan Chicken Spring Rolls, Soft Fried Fish with Lao Ga Ma Sauce and Oyster Sauce Glazed Slow Fried Chicken from the non veg section.
The Dumplings were a huge let down as it somewhat emanated a raw earthy flavour from its stuffing. Whereas the non veg starters were a hit. The soft fried fish was the clear winner that day as it was so perfectly made. Who doesn't like succulent fish pieces tossed in a rich oriental style gravy??? The chicken spring rolls was crispy and the filling was good. The slow fried chicken was also good. No complaints there.
In the main course we ordered the The Ultimate Trio and Kung Pao Potato from the veg course. Chicken with Zucchini in Chilli Basil Soy Sauce and Stir Fried Slice Lamb with Crushed Pepper Sauce were ordered from the non veg main course. Along with these we had the Spicy Mala Vegetable Fried Rice and Vegetable Char Kway Teow.
The fried rice was really tasty with the right balance of flavours whereas the flat noodles was very oily and was kinda difficult to eat. The stir fried lamb was the star dish of the day as it was so succulent and cooked to perfection in a gravy that was beyond exceptional. The chicken was average with a mild sauce whereas the Kung Pao Potato was a dish made with baby potatoes dunk in a rich flavoursome gravy along with many cashew nuts. The Ultimate Trio had crispy lotus stem, Peas and Baby corn in a loosely based gravy which had myriad textures coming out from it.
Desserts were a really fun factor as we had Chocolate Terrine, Honey and Litchi Darsan, Home-made Litchi and Basil seed ice cream and Flambeed Toffee Banana. The chocolate Terrine was a mousse based dessert with smooth chocolate just melting in your mouth. The Flambeed Toffee Banana had a toffee shell that had to be broken open to reveal what is inside. It was served with a portion of vanilla ice cream. The Litchi and Basil seed ice cream was very fresh and refreshing with the right amount of sweetness. But the truly fun factor was contributed by the Honey and Litchi Darsan. It was fried flat noodles with syrup poured over it and was served with ice cream. It was great fun to eat that dessert.
The lunch came to an end with hot oolong tea that was served towards the end.
As it was a RWI event, the fixed courses came around 900 bucks with tax for a person. On the whole a really good experience!
Though I had tried this restaurant back in 2014, I wanted to try out this RWI menu to see it’s worth. This RWI concept was started for people to dine at fine dining restaurants for a cause and I don’t visibly see how far it’s implemented.
A hotel brand that has been existing since the concept of hospitality was commercially defined, Taj is a beautiful property with various restaurants hosted within. Golden Dragon, being one of those, and perhaps the premium selection and just closer to the lobby. The restaurant itself is quite spread out, one single space for several tables.
It’s in the Nungambakkam main road. Parking is next to hotel premises.
We began our tasting with the soup - Mushroom and mint clear soup which had slightly undercooked mushrooms that reduced my appetite but, what do you know, mint can come for your rescue. Since we were four, our starters looked like assortments of oriental cuisine. Water Chestnut and Cilantro dumpling from the veg section was more tenacious on the outside and the filling inside was very raw. From the non veg appetizers, we had the Sichuan Chicken spring roll, Soft fried Fish with Lao Ga Ma Sauce and Oyster Sauce glazed slow fried Chicken. The spring roll was crispy and golden brown on the outside and the filling was tasty. It went well with the tangy and spicy chilli sauce that they've provided. The slow fried chicken was a subtle dish with deep oriental flavours of oyster.
The main course was served along with Spicy Mala Vegetable fried rice and Vegetable char Kway teow. The fried rice tasted good and went along with the main course dishes. But the flattened noodles were too oily and it felt too stuffy. For main course we ordered two veg and two non veg dishes. From the veg section we had the Kung Pao Potato and the Ultimate Trio. Kung pao potato had baby potatoes with generous amount of cashews. The Ultimate Trio had peas, crunchy lotus stem, baby corn and bell peppers. It was good. From the non veg main course we chose the Chicken with Zucchini in chilli basil soy sauce and Stir fried sliced Lamb in crushed pepper sauce. The chicken was very bland and the sauce was a mild one. But the stir fried lamb was spicy in its pepper based gravy, quite deliciously served.
The best part about the spread is that it was embraced in essence - Chinese Desserts. The Honey Darsan with Litchi, Crispy flat noodles with honey drizzled over the top was a delight to be had with ice cream. The Homemade Litchi and Basil seed ice cream had litchi chunks in it which tasted good. The Flambe Toffee Banana was an aesthetic looking dessert that was worth its preparation. The outer sugar coating had to be broken open in order to reveal the banana filling. It went well with the vanilla ice cream. The Chocolate Terrine was a rich and dense chocolate dessert that was really nice.
We finished our meal with oolong tea. Service was smooth but was slow. Dish preparation time should be reduced a bit. It was around 900 including taxes.
Went here on a Saturday Night with not a very hungry stomach, so we wanted to make it a very formal meal.! Adding on to the talk, we ordered Chicken Noodles, and waited quite some time. There was decent quantity and nothing much to expect from a bowl Noodles.! The ambiance was great, and I feel the staff should really not judge their customers on basis of their Age(we are college students BTW and we managed to make people frown at our presence)..! Talks aside, it is a wonderful Restaurant with great ambience.!
Went ti this place to try it out during the restaurant week. The ambience is nice and welcoming, specially thanks to all the natural light conibg in during lunch. The place was not very busy but it had a few tables. We were two of us and we tried 2 different 5 vourse meals. The chicken stater was nice and so was the waterchestnut dumpling, though the waterchestnut one was a bit bland. The soups were the winners of the day, we tried a tomato seafood soup and a mushroom and mint clear soup. Both had bags of flavour. The maincourse was a mustard fish and a bbq styled chicken. The fish in my opinion was better as the flavour of mustard was nice and sutle while the chicken was a tad bit sweet. For the dessert we tried the litchi and basil ice cream which was pretty impressive, the toffee bannana on the other hand was too sweet and we couldnt go beyond two bites.
On the whole the place is nice and offers the classic chinese golden dragons have been known for all these years. The service like most 5 star hotels is unhurried and at times a little slow.
Try this place if you want to try some good chinese food and have lots of time on your hands.
Tried their RWI set menu recently. I chose this restaurant as their menu had interesting dishes and also some diet friendly options. We got ourselves a place near a window. The interiors were amazing, it was very elegant and appealing, especially I loved the way they have done their ceiling.
What we had :-
There were two soups, a seafood soup and a veg clear soup. I had the veg one, it had abundant pieces of mushroom and mint leaves, it was perfect with a tinge of mint taste.
Appetizers, we had three, soft fried fish with Lao Ga Ma sauce, Oyster sauce glazed slow fried chicken and Lotus stem honey Chili. I liked all the three, especially the fish was superb and the lotus stem was exceptional.
We ordered two mocktails, Kiwi punch and Apple breeze which were not part of the RWI menu. Apple breeze was good but I felt the Kiwi was too dilute. So I told them and they were kind enough to replace that.
Main Course, Chicken with zucchini in chili basil soy sauce, stir fried sliced lamb in crushed pepper sauce, Spicy Mala vegetable rice and Veg Char kway teow. The lamb was brilliant, loved that pepper sauce. Chicken had an unusual taste but good nonetheless. Veg rice was good too. I personally didn't like the kway teow.
Desserts, We had flambeed toffee banana and Honey & Litchi Darsan, both served with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Both the desserts were fantastic.
The service was very good, except the billing everything was prompt. Bill for two was around Rs.2500 incl taxes.
P.S. This review is for their RWI menu only.
Restaurant Week India is BACK, yet again. With a list of 12 lavish restaurants across the city where 3 of them are new additions. And it’s definitely a great news for the health conscious diners as this time around RWI is featuring healthy & diet friendly options on the Restaurant Week menus. These menu items includes gluten free, vegan, low carb and low sugar options. Last year this time I was asking a few friends if they would like to accompany me and dine at any of the luxury hotels that this event brings within reach. Quite unfortunately, they were extremely busy and just couldn't find the time. This time, however, I succeeded in visiting the Golden Dragon restaurant at the Taj Coromandel, Chennai and the experience has justified the wait and the pent up expectations. Before I write about the actual experience a few words about this most interesting event.
I heard a lot of hype about this place and planned my wife's birthday. Service is good as expected from Taj however the "Indian Chinese" was not up to the mark.
After a lot of deliberation, we decided to have our anniversary dinner at the Golden Dragon. As we had to bring our 3 month old along, I called in advance and asked for a room for emergency feeding. When we arrived, to our surprise, we were given a whole room just for ourselves! The staff were extremely courteous and we knew we had made the right choice. We ordered a light lunch, with the chilli coriander chicken soup, and the spicy hunan fried rice with Kung Pao chicken. Everything was made to perfection! The lychee ice cream with basil seeds for dessert was heavenly. To sum it all, this is the best experience I've ever had with a restaurant in Chennai.
WOW!!!My better half liked it!! Phew!! After trying good food in so many places, finally this time she said "let's re visit .
Good effort might have been spent for the final product (ordered :Chicken dragon,Lemon soup ,noodles).Desert was Ok kinds.
Interiors were pleasant.Might have to work on Valet management .Looks to be little messy
Ambience, service, food & presentation - everything about this place stands out & much above all other chinese restaurants in the city!! Was here with my family over the weekend & had some finger licking chinese food starting with a classic lemon & coriander soup, with water chestnuts dim sums & honey dipped lotus stem. Their hunan fried rice with a combination of silken tofu & edamame in black bean sauce is just wow !!! The udon or flat noodles in a garlic mix was equally good. My son loved the homemade litchi ice cream. Coming back again for sure, soon..
If you are looking for the perfect Chinese cuisine its here. One of the tastiest and beautiful place for a lunch date. The dessert added more to it and so is the ambiance and also the service. Would recommend to all the Chinese food lovers. :)
Kudos to Golden dragon :) :)
Will definitely recommend. Very interesting menu. The crispy corn was so fresh that every bite felt like a new taste. The silken tofu was indeed silken. Authentic and charming.
Great food. The silken tofu with edamame and black bean gravy was amazing! Best Chinese jn chennai for sure. Price was closer to 2500₹ for two without drinks (with tax)
My most favourite Chinese restaurant in Chennai. If you have been looking for a restaurant that serves proper chinese food then this one's for you. My favourite dish is the Song of the Dragon Chicken which is absolute kick ass and a must try here and not to forget the Rin Bar. Have been here only 3 times and already addicted. A must visit.
I have been a regular patron here since 15 years!
But it went into renovations some years ago, and we couldn't eat here. And I was so delighted that it reopened after renovations. Finally I got to eat here again.
But unfortunately it lost some of its ambience (and size).
Food is great, and personalized if you ask. If you ever get a chance, do sit at the exclusive tables. They aren't as good as the old ones, but are the best seating they offer.
The one thing I love/hate about it is that it serves only Chinese food. No Thai or Korean. (I don't care where the food is from as long as it is tasty!)
Definitely do try the desert called Dragon's Nest.
Golden Dragon, a restaurant as majestic as its name, was our first choice of fine dining as and when this round of RWI commenced. Taj Coromandel, exemplary for their hospitality, hosts this grand Chinese restaurant which boasts of being the best one in town and YES, it definitely is! Right from the carefully designed decor on their walls, ceiling and shelves, premium wooden chopsticks to the Chinese instrumental music that’s played, the whole experience is like a brief trip to China. Golden dragons on the doors, their plate, staff’s uniforms, red and gold hues at every turn, they made sure we were imbibed in their theme constantly.
Service was nothing short of perfect. Extremely careful, prompt and courteous, all those who attended to us were just as professional as they could be. The menu was explained twice and they were well versed with it and every course of the meal was served at perfect intervals. It was quite pleasant and contenting.
The RWI menu for Golden Dragon had an edge over the other places as they had 4 courses, not just 3; appetisers, soup, main course (with staples) and dessert. The menu was clearly split into vegetarian and non-vegetarian (including the desserts). The options were quite extensive, gave a good glimpse into their even more widespread a la carte menu. The tea menu (not a part of the RWI menu) had a range of green, white and red teas, a good selection of some regional Chinese teas.
Being in the sultry place that is Chennai, the refreshing towels were extremely soothing! After this, we were given their amuse bouche, a little piece of crunchy water chestnut covered in some delicious garlic sauce. Refreshment squared!
Then came their Chinese sides; pickled cucumbers & Kimchi in glass jars and a few sauces. The pickled cucumbers were so light & refreshing! The Kimchi was super authentic too.

Stepping into their successful third year at Chennai, Restaurant Week India is one of the largest pan-India culinary event where diners have the choice to dine at India's finest restaurant at a fraction of the A La Carte rates. As they flare into the third year associating with Ola Prime and Burrp, the event is getting bigger and better with 13 participating restaurants that offer three-course prix fixe menu. For more details about the diners at your city and reservation click here.
As I was finalising the restaurants to visit this season, I was overwhelmed when invited to dine and share my thoughts on the food at Golden Dragon at Taj Coromandel Chennai for RWI. Extravagance, royal and elegance would be the ideal words to describe the Taj dining experience. Standing with majestic grace on the high roads of Nungambakkam every Chennaitian would know the location. And the Golden Dragon welcomes you with astonishing and grand decor, each nuances in the design holds back a story and an intense thought-process that would leave you awe-struck. Glancing through the intruding A La Carte menu for RWI, I was overjoyed.
This is my favourite restaurant in Chennai. The quality of food is absolutely brilliant. Easily the best chinese restaurant in Chennai. The chew jao soup, Corn five Spice and Five Spice rice is a must have. The tariff is decent considering the quality and quantity.
All in all, a must go for anyone looking for great food and ambience.

So I wrote a detailed review for this place and well, after publishing it's not on my dineline. So the second review is going to be pretty short and crisp.
However, let me tell you this. Golden dragon is the place to go for some kickass Chinese food and a brilliant service!
I've been wanting to go here for ages and what occasion could be more perfect for the first checkin than my birthday!
We skipped starters and jumped right on to the main course
1. Chow Mein Noodles customised to be more spicy with extra red chillies - Trust me not just the sight of it but every bite of this was oh so mouth watering. It was a bit too spicy for me but well you can always customise it.
2. Golden garlic fried rice - I'm a sucker for garlic fried rice and this dish was nothing less than amazing! Perfect.
3. Stir fry with tofu and mushroom addons - This was a welcome after the steamy chow mein; made for a delicious side for the garlic rice with just the right balance of spice and sauces.
Just when it was time for the cheque, the waiter brings in a cake and they were so sweet enough to wish me and even offered to take a picture of me and my friend.
True to their standards, Golden Dragin delivers great food, simple Asian decor and impeccable service! I can't wait to go here again.

This was my first time here in years and my gripe with all the Chinese Restaurants in the city was the lack of authenticity. But this place was beyond amazing. We had the dumplings which were the best I've ever eaten... Pork belly which was scrumptious and Kung Poa Chicken which was beyond great. Everything from the Kimchi to the Hakka noodles were perfectly spiced and so well seasoned that I couldn't help but overeat.
As it was my birthday, we had asked for a candle with our date pancake (which was perfectly light and crispy but also goey and perfect) but they brought me a little mousse cake which was totally unexpected and absolutely wonderful. The service, ambience and ofcourse excellent food make this a must visit for any special occasion! I'll be going back for sure!
I love Chinese but to take your mom (who is a great cook but not too much into Chinese food) to Chinese place and be appreciated is a different ball game all together. The taste didn't fail nor did the service, which is expected of a Taj. A nice silent yet tasty dinner!
Best Chinese food in Chennai. Absolutely loved this place. The fried rice is the best I've had anywhere. And double cooked pork and the Mongolian beef were stunning. The place is pricey but worth every bit the price you pay for it.
One of the best places serving Chinese food. You should book a table in advance as a Monday evening had almost the whole restaurant booked. Taj hospitality undoubtedly is the best and the restaurant staff kept up to it. The Lotus stem and the fried noodles are worth the mention. Definitely a place you would love to go back.

Golden Dragon – the Chinese Restaurant at the Taj Coromandel Hotel has always been considered the crown jewels of the Chennai fine dining scene. It was one of the first Chinese restaurants, to introduce fine Sichuan cuisine, to the city. It has reigned supreme in the promise of a terrific dinning experience all the way from its orange beaded curtain days in the seventies to the newly renovated space created recently. It reached it’s heights of popularity when Chef Hardy Cheung, who was considered one of the best Chinese Chefs in India, took its helm in the nineties.

Golden Dragon has recently re-opened after being closed for renovations for well over a year. I was excited to dine in their newly created space. My experiences eating there have been mixed. There were hints of the old Golden Dragon in a few of the dishes, which were superb, but other dishes were rather ordinary. I don’t think the food is anywhere near the quality it was in its heydays of Chef Hardy Cheung.
Still, I do think that Golden Dragon is one of those restaurants that I will keep going back to. It has just been too good for too long and I really do believe that they will soon find their footing and restore themselves to their former glory.
This was my first time to the Golden Dragon and I must say I was thoroughly delighted!! We took a newly wedded couple there for a wedding treat and I've absolutely no regrets. The food was great and the service was too good!! I can't remember the last time when a waiter responded to my "thank you" with an "it's my pleasure "!!!
I had informed the manager that it was a special occasion so they arranged a small chocolate cake that was Oh So Yummy!!!
It was a thoroughly enjoyable dinner. Did it blow a hole in our pocket? Yes. Will I go there again? YESSS!!!!

If you are looking for a sumptuous Chinese meal, here it is. Every dish makes me crave for more. It has been our destination for every birthday in the family this year. Do try the golden dragon chicken and momos. It has also got a pleasant ambience and a very courteous set of staff. Totally worth it.
The waiters here have known us for over 20 years. So service is always excellent. The restaurant furnishing is neatly done. The food is very good too though not extraordinary.
Been there on my B'day. Seriously loved the food & the place. Nice ambience & soothing music. This is all, there is to say about the Golden Dragon. Abhinav Pandit @Gulshan Tejaswi
Wow! What a lovely dining experience. It made my special day even more special. It was my first official date with my fiance and I couldn't think of any place which could make it even more special for us. My fiance is no fan of crowded restaurants. So I was very glad that I chose this place because it had a quiet and pleasant ambiance. Now you might think that this being Taj, the prices are going to be really high and unaffordable. I thought so too, until now. We had roasted duck, garlic noodles with a side and it costed us Rs.4,000. Totally worth the money. They give you a good quantity and the food was beyond expectations. It had a really good flavor to it and you even get personal attention. The waiter serves you once you finish your plate. We loved the food and the quality time we got to spend with each other. Just when we thought this couldn't get any better, we saw the waiter walking towards us with two bowls in his hands. It was ICE CREAM! (a complimentary) It was butterscotch ice cream with just the right creaminess it required. I couldn't have thought of a better place to take my fiance to. I hope everyone gets to experience what we did.
Golden Dragon still probably Chennai's best Chinese restaurant has introduced a new menu. I went there for lunch today. We had some Fish with chilli and black bean and some Kung Pao Cuttlefish with steamed rice. Service excellent.
Well Citibank Restaurant week tempted me & my wife to have a couple of luxury dining experiences and thus we decided to start off with some authentic Chinese food at Golden Dragon! Yes we did carry a lot of expectations owing to the brand value Taj has created over the years. We made a dinner reservation on a Wednesday and had a tiring drive all the way from OMR to Nungambakkam :(
• Location & Parking: Just keep on moving straight on Nungambakkam high road and soon you will come across the Taj Coromandel on the left. Google maps might misguide you a little as it does not show the entry gate as the final destination. Needless to say, they have valet parking.
• Ambience: The first thing that hits me in any 5-star restaurant is the way the servers and the manager greet you. We were shown our reserved table with big smiles. Gestures like this make you feel special and I really appreciate the staff for this. It is a big restaurant with some pleasing music and nice smell.
• Food: For starters, we opted for Crispy chilly lamb and Prawn hargao and Chicken sweet corn soup. The lamb dish was crispy, a little tangy, a little sweet and a trifle chewy. I have had better crispy lamb and was hence not so impressed. Prawns hargao was average for me as I was expecting the dimshum stuffing to be a mix of steamed prawn and some seasonings. But the dimshum had only a steamed prawn inside which had a bland taste. The sweet corn chicken soup was terrific – one of the best I have ever had.
In main-course, we opted for steamed fish with black bean chilli sauce, stir fried chicken in kungpao sauce & stir fried prawns in ginger scallion sauce (signature dish). The black bean chilli sauce was a little bitter and had small pieces of the black beans which kind of left an unpleasant taste in my mouth. The chicken cooked in kungpao sauce was finger licking good. The cashews cooked along with it tasted great. The signature dish (prawn) did not live up to our expectations either and we felt it could have been a little flavourful. May be that’s how scallion sauce tastes!!! The garlic buttered rice was average, and the chilli & pepper noodles was below average. I was shocked when the server told me that the noodles is a big hit amongst the regulars there. For desserts, we played it safe and stuck to the homemade litchi ice cream and believe me it was just out of the world. I regret asking only for one scoop whereas my wife gobbled up 2 scoops in no time :)
• Service: Well, well, well… I am still confused whether the service was slow or the servers were intentionally delaying the food to give us ample time to enjoy our meal. Certainly, they were not attentive and approachable. I feel that they are used to very few people on an average and the additional load due to the Citibank restaurant week could not be managed well by them.
• Price: I believe that when you dine at a 5-star, you certainly should not be thinking on the lines of a VFM experience. Rather one should enjoy the overall experience of dining in luxury. In our case, it was a fixed set of items that one could choose at a very affordable price.
=>> In a nutshell, as I inevitably start comparing my experiences at Vivanta by Taj, Taj club house, ITC Grand chola and Sheraton, I would rate this as an average experience!
It's one of the best restaurants i have ever been to. I went there with my friends. The food tastes rich and delicious. The ambience is really good. The staff are well aware of every dish in the menu. We had lamb and chicken. Both tasted good. The tofu was awesome. The desert nailed!!. It had crispy chunks with honey, litchi portions and vanilla ice-cream. Soooo good. The only constraint is the budget. It costed 4.3 K for 3 of us. If you are fine with it.....no more second thought. Just go for it.
The Golden Dragon at Taj Coromandel – Visited on Sep 17th. On day 6 of Restaurant Week Sep 2015.
This time we had both looked at the fixed menu in advance and made our choices.
Crispy Corn Kernels with five spices arrived first. Truly more..ish. You eat more & more then realise that this is only the first course. Luckily the other appetizer was Prawn Har Gao. Petite, it leaves you craving for more.
The mustard dip with the Prawn (dumpling) was truly well made. The piquancy when it reaches the palate is unique. The pickled shredded Ginger in vinegar deserves mention as well. Together, they set up anticipation without being belligerent!
Chew Jao Soup and Sweet Corn & Chicken Soup were both excellent, the latter reminding me strongly of 1960’s Calcutta.
Veg Cakes in Spicy Soy Sauce, and Steamed Fish with Black Bean Chilli Sauce, were our choices for main courses, with Spicy Noodles and Garlic Rice respectively. The pickled raw papaya deserves special mention as an unmatched crunchy , mildly sweet, accompaniment. The fish was a little mushy, though, as if it had been in a freezer too long. It should have been more flaky, perhaps.
For dessert we both chose the popular Litchi with Basil Seed Ice Cream, and were very glad we did.
All in all, it was a very enjoyable Lunch at the Golden Dragon. The ambience, service levels and courtesy at the Taj Coromandel have been consistently good for the past twenty years.
My all time favourite Chinese restaurant in chennai since my childhood days. Went there for lunch today after a long time after booking through the Citibank restaurant week offer. The same warm and efficient service and great food. Had Beijing style crispy lamb, prawn hargao and chicken suimai for starters along with sweet corn chicken soup. The lamb and prawn were excellent. For main course we ordered steamed fish with black bean chilli sauce, stir fried chicken in kungpao sauce & stir fried prawns in ginger scallion sauce. The prawns were outstanding and the chicken was a classic. Had them with golden garlic buttered rice and chilli & pepper noodles. We finished with the crispy date pancake, darsaan and litchi and basil seed ice cream. The ice cream was fantastic. One more classic and wonderful experience at one of my favourite restaurants in town
Tried this place out with my sisters in restaurant week 2015. This place has gorgeous ambience and cutlery. The white red and black theme is beautiful.
We started off with ordering all the starters - crispy fried vegetables and the crispy corn kernels with five spices. Both were very good. The third starter was vegetable jiaozi (dumpling) and this one had a little strange texture and taste. We then went ahead with Chew Zao soup - clear soup with tons of spring onions which was light and refreshing. Our main course had vegetable cakes which was more like a manchurian ball and was delicious. The grilled vegetables in the black pepper sauce tasted great. The pokchoy tasted average and well as the chef's complementary dish - grilled veggies in a garlic sauce. The vegetables cakes stood out the most. For dessert there was fried wanton with pineapple and date pancakes. The most stunning of them all was the litchi and basil seed ice cream. This had great flavor and the seeds added wonderful texture. Must try ! The staples to go along were garlic rice and chili noodles out of which the noodles were spicy and spectacular.
On the whole a great place to have Chinese food. Service was top notch and the pot of vanilla tea recommended by the staff was a lovely finish a good lunch.
Celebrating my last birthday in Chennai brought me to Golden Dragon. I just had to know what the hype was about and I was excited because I absolutely love Asian food and you can never go wrong with anything at Taj. A lovely and quiet with touches of authentic ambience and decor welcomes us. There was a gentle Asian tune playing in the background which really set us in the mood. For starters we went with chicken dimsums and coriander dimsums. We wanted something quick and not too filling. Finally for the main course, we ordered a regular fried rice, flat noodles, double cooked pork and kung pao chicken. Although we stuck to the regulars, we realized that this taste varies from restaurant to restaurant. The food was just so delicious and filling that I was literally scraping the bits off the plate!! And the host surprised me with the most divine and orgasmic chocolate mousse cake, along with chocolate momos!! For chocolate lovers, you HAVE to try these chocolate momos (read: momos packed with Nutella)
I can't wait to go back here, if luck and time would have it.
@ golden dragon the place is really awesome signature vegeterian dishes lotus stem starters and momos very good to have in a pleasant atmosphere very nice to hangout in as a family
This has to be the best place for Chinese in town. They really know their food. The staff is excellent here. The chef understands the customisation just about perfectly. The standards are high being in the Taj family and it certainly does not disappoint. The starters, main course and dessert were all absolutely delicious. It's situated in a Taj hotel, you know what to expect when it comes to the bill. However, it is value for money.
Great place and great food!!!!.The place had amazing food and it was a amazing experience.I cant wait to be back here again.U should all try this place!!
I happened to visit Golden Dragon for dinner tonight. I have heard rave reviews about his place especially my aunt visiting it in the 80's. She had said the food was good then but my wife was suggesting for a long time that we eat here. We had made a booking and we were escorted to our table with no delay. The staff were very helpful in making great recommendations. We had the simple sweet corn soup made to perfection. The kimchis on the house were good and I was tempted to ask for a second helping too. The fried vegetables were perfectly cooked and the spices just right. The dimsum with water chestnuts and coriander was good but I am no dimsum fan so I am not sure if it can be made any better. So I give them the benefit of doubt. The 5 spices lotus stem fried rice was interesting. The potatoes cooked in hunan sauce was spciy but cooked well. The mojito was well balanced too. It is quite crowded so making reservations is suggested. Overall, a great experience with well mannered staff, perfect recommendations, simple ambience and more importantly great food. Definitely must visit and is a legend in its own rights.
Really had a nice quiet relaxed evening with some great food and service. The Crispy Lamb Konjee was good and the Prawn Har Gau (DimSum) was superb. The Garlic Butter Rice was really flavoured well and the Braised pork with mushroom and bamboo shoot was well made. Portion sizes were adequate except for the DimSums.. would have been ideal if there were 6 per plate. The Coconut creme caramel was great too.
Service was excellent and the waiters were thorough on their menu knowledge. Very polite and courteous and always around when your plate needed to be refilled.
Was a tad disappointed as they had only Kingfisher Pint beer and no imported beers as mentioned on the menu.
It was a great experience and we enjoyed our dinner.
Thanks for the birthday cake, which made my friend's day, as it was least expected. All the staff and team came and wished my friend and that was such a thoughtful and kind gesture. Much appreciated. Like to thank Sadam for being such a great host to us.

I can never go wrong here. If u crave the finest dumplings.. this is the place. If you crave the finest diced, sliced lamb, this is the place. If u crave some amazing fried rice with the most genuine flavor, this is the place. And if you want some amazing service, ambience,..... this is definitely it. The golden dragon has been around for years, and for a reason. Fine dining at its best. Just wish i could afford to go there every now and then. but again, too much of a good thing..
Been here once for lunch with a friend on his birthday. We ordered momos which had a weird texture. Not soft. The stir fried chicken was good though. Was juicy and full of amazing flavours. The main course wasn't that bad. We had Fried rice and one chicken side dish.
I loved everything except the momos.
Awesome food the best Chinese food in Chennai I have been to many Chinese restaurants in the city but Golden dragon is the best in the city for Chinese food..
Taste - 4/5

Hahaha.....y such a expression to start off a review. Well it took me n my frnd to convince my dear friend(whose gonna leave to london soon?) to try a proper Chinese food. Thanks to our indianised Chinese versioned food. Hope somebody listening to us..... v have been already doing Make in India.....? in Chinese food (remember road side stalls or eateries or dhabas saying v serve Chinese food). So to prove my frnd wrong n show her that Chinese food s not all too sweet n full of ketchup...v headed to golden dragon. It was Saturday night....crowd was happening. We walked in to the restaurant n took ur seats. Meanwhile my guy frnd was just telling abt how d restaurant had become a bit too small as they hv taken a passage out of it. He went on telling us tat at tis place he saw Kamal Hassan n how happily got an autograph from him(he s big fan of him btw). So in midst of tis conversation v were also looking at the menu. My frnd wanted to hv soup n so v ordered lung fung soup wid prawns n chicken....thr s another story for tis but I choose to give it a pass for now. Soup tasted very good...it was full n rich. Like when v were deciding ur menu....v were told tat they had a very good German wine. V couldn't hv said no to it. J'aime beaucoup de wine. I thk v were all done in wid d wine itself. For the starters v ordered konjee crispy lamb. When v were placing order v were told its their speciality dish. The dish had a huge portion...shredded n fried lamb served wid capsicum, spring onions n sauces (chilly n tomato). V expected the dish to be high on spice but it turned to be sweet n spicy. Though it fine but then when u don't get wat u were looking u kind of feel ahhhh n much to my dismay tat I miserably failed to prove my frnd tat Chinese food s above ketchup.well v tried another dish it was some crab dish. I dont remember d dish name but it was well made. I liked it. But steamed dim sum (dumpling filled wid generous portion of prawns) blew our head. It was very nicely made dishes...sipping in wine at particular intervals. It was like watte life!!! Yeah not to forget v even had a Chinese tea..don't remember the name but I thk v ordered the wrong one. Maybe v shld hv gone for a normal green or olong tea. Nvr mind...though. Ahh by Time v were like should v go for main course v didn't hv any appetite further. A spl mention of their hospitality. Very courteous staffs n maybe tats y its brand "Taj" its like when they came to know tat v were winding wid starters they were very worried n politely gave suggestions for going in for rice n lobster curry or try some deserts. Honestly v didn't feel like having anything more. Gracious enough they bought the cheque n got us a complimentary lichee n basil homemade ice cream. V were genuinely touched by tis gesture n 4.5 is for that feel good moment. Thanks Taj!!!

Loved this place. Authentic Chinese.
Celebrated wife's Birthday at this place and this restaurant serves a really nice and authentic Chinese dishes, which I was missing in Chennai Location. Being a reputed name, they way you are greeted and behavior of the staff is amazingly nice and sweet. They are happy to suggest, guide and explain about the dishes.
The dishes were served well and tasted great. The starters, main course and drinks, all simply tempted the taste buds. Will love to visit this place again.
Also, since it was a Birthday and they were already told about the same, so they served couple of pastries with "Happy Birthday" mentioned over it and the best part is my wife liked it.
Thanks Team.
One of the best , or the best Chinese restaurant in chennai city . Golden dragon is in the heart of the city in Nungambakkam area . The ambience & the Setting is amazing . The starters like the Momos , mushroom , vegetable starters are very tasty & the presentation is fabulous. The main course food of Noodles, rice & side dishes like the 5 star vegetables are prepared well and value for money . The soups are done excellent & a treat like the good old sweet corn , mushroom soup . Overall a great place to go for a celebration with family or friends .
Living up to its brand, this restaurant never ceases to surprise you with its consistency and good food.
Though i am visiting this place after a long gap, it was good to see the fresh decor and fine service.
Started with a Hot sour Chicken soup, Prawn n Chicken starters. Fried Rice n steamed fish as the main course, there was absolutely no space for dessert.
Food was lovely and end of the meal not feeling heavy
The best luxury Chinese food in chennai. Really good food, service, ambience and quality. Mouth watering food. Worth it for the price???.The golden dragon fried rice was the best
My favourite Chinese cuisine in the city. Nothing beats their Sichuan Fried Rice. It's the BEST in Chennai. I have a soft corner for Golden Dragon because the wonderful staff here taught me how to eat with chopsticks. :-)
As for the food, I really can't point at any specific dish. My favourites would be Strawberry Mocktail/Fruit Punch, Golden Fried Prawns, Prawn Pepper Salt, the Chicken dim sums, all spicy chicken starters and of course their Schezwan Rice.
And if it's your birthday, watch out for an amazing soft cake from La Patisserie :-)
Visit no 3 was with hubby last week and this time for the Citibank Restaurant Week India. For 750+ taxes per head, it was vfm considering its 5 star property. Food was like regular Chinese fare, except that everything tasted too sweet. Details in pics.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Visited golden dragon for a working lunch last week. This was my second visit and food was spectacular.
We got crab meat soup which was full bodied and had ample amount of crab meat. It tasted bland but was fine after I mixed some hot chilli. For starters it was chicken dimsums, stir fried lotus stem in hot & sweet sauce. They were both good. For mains, we got fried rice, steamed fish in some sauce, tofu and stir fried baby corn. I am not a fan of tofu so did not like it much. The rest were all yumm. Dessert was date pancakes with ice cream. The pancake was cloyingly sweet. I have a major sweet tooth, so not complaining. We were informed that the chef is from Hong Kong and he had prepared some mouth watering stuff.
Service was warm and attentive without being intrusive. Water glasses and jasmine tea was refilled promptly.
Excellent food, friendly service and good ambience makes up for the steep price!
Nourriture fantastique!!!!!
Golden Dragon never ever disappoints me. Ever !!!! They know what the customer likes and expects. They are always on top of their business. They also know their food and what they dish out simply have their customers eating out of thier hands.
I was a regular till 3 years back and there was a gap . Today I went back to mama !! Wow!! The warmth is still warm. They still remember me and took a lot of effort to ensure that I will be back soon.
The interior was a little different but the spirit remains intact . The Golden Dragon offers a vast and assorted menu featuring a delightful mix of Sichuan and Cantonese flavours and what an exquisite experience was it for my palate. This is one of the best fine-dining Chinese restaurant in Chennai. I have ordered a Golden Dragon Chicken with cashews, garlic and fresh red chilly and Don Bok Kai along with Hunan fried rice and Char Kway Teow (flat noodles) all the 4 dishes were simply outstanding but Char Kway Teow blew my mind.
There is nothing I could complain . The service was top notch and the ambience was perfect. The air-conditioning was great. The lighting was perfect. They gave me no room to even search for an issue. It was a perfect day to finish my lunch and carry on my love affair with this lovely restaurant. I must give them a perfect 5/5.
I LOVE YOU GOLDEN DRAGON !!!!!! ❤️
What a lovely experience it was!!!
Service was impeccable. . Mr Umesh, our server, had amazing knowledge about the dishes that were being served to us. . Most cordial person!
I dont even know what to write about the food. The peking duck was flavorful and super moist, however i just wish the plum sauce was a little more balanced with the saltiness and the sweetness.
The best dish we had was the crispy okra. They elevated a simple vegetable to create different sensational experience in the mouth. Every piece of it was perfectly spiced and seasoned with delectable garlic and black beans.
The chicken siu mai were juicy and evenly seasoned.
The dessert was their signature sticky toffee pudding. The date sponge was an absolute delight and the caramel was silkily smooth.
However, litchi and basil seed ice cream was the cherry on the cake for this dessert. It didnt need any accompaniment, it boasts of beautiful coconut milk and litchi with the basil seeds which was evenly balanced with sweetness. This is a must try!
The beauty of Taj & their chefs came to the fore again. I came here & ordered a Wok Tossed Chilli Garlic noodles &, ANDDD perhaps THE GREATEST Mushroom starter I've ever had in my life!! Yes, I'm not overstating this.
It was the crispy fried Enoki Mushroom with Five spice & my goodness did it delight me like ever before! What an absolutely fabulous & unique dish! 😍❤️ I was thinking as would anyone else that when it would arrive it would be those normal kind of mushroom that we see everyday that'll come out with a different taste obviously, but when they served it, the way it looked already blew my mind because I did not ever expect that mushroom could also be like that. Aandddd, when I tasted it, boy, I went mad!! Unbelievable dish & I recommend everyone who visits here to just have a try at this! Definitely go at it! I always loved mushroom & this dish justadee even more crazy Mushroom.
The noodles were fantastic tooo no doubt but sorry If I spoke too much about the mushroom. It was actually that GREAT! Sensational dish!
Loved this place! Beautiful ambience.
Their mala spicy seafood fried rice was too good. It was spicy and hit all the right notes for me. We had ordered a hot and sour chicken gravy to go with the fried rice. It was perfect. I want to go back again right when I am typing this.
Extremely courteous staff. Very good service.
We went on valentine’s day. So the music from Chipstead was too loud for us to enjoy a nice quiet dinner. Also the tables are too closely placed. It’s almost like we can hear what’s happening in the next table, which is why I am giving it 4 stars and not 5.
Amazing food. service from Jagan, Sadam & umesh is super prompt. Assortment of mushrooms is to die for. Interaction with the chef Srinivas is refreshing. Input taken actively about all dishes👍🏼
The new menu at Golden Dragon is simply superb. Authentic Chinese fine dinning experience.
Chinese restaurant at the Taj Coromandel with an extensive menu with vegetarian and non vegetarian options. We ordered soups and dimsums for a light lunch and all items were good. The chilli coriander soup was flavorful and not too sour / salty. The edamame dimsums were delicious, with a touch of truffles, and the imperial dumplings had some unique filling (water chestnuts!). Best of all was the delicious home made lychee ice cream. Overall a great dining experience. Service was a little slow in the end.
Hi friends,I really happy hate lunch in golden dragon in nungambakkambranch , it's very delicious and normal spice , chicken and prawn dishes are very nice.
Golden Dragon has always been a favourite. One of the best places to dine out in Chennai. Authentic Chinese food by far in Chennai. Had the Peking duck for the first time today and enjoyed the experience.
Very nice authentic Chinese food. Would recommend if you like fried. Unfortunately when we asked for less fried our request was not taken into consideration
The pan fried noodles and veg gravy was a hit among the vegetarians. The prawn gravy and fried rice were really good. The crispy lamb was the dish of the night. It was the star among all the dishes we had that night. The staff are courteous and helpful. Good experience.
A good authentic Indian Chinese restaurant in town. Good ambience a large selection. Some special ones which you won't get at other places. Service is good. Can be crowded. Seats are nearby. Not much of privacy during dinning. Good price level. Chinese portion difficult to finish if you order more varieties. Different types of soups and starters. Vegetarian friendly. Service is white quick for a five star hotel.
Best Chinese food in Chennai. Absolutely loved this place. The fried rice is the best I've had anywhere. And double cooked pork and the Mongolian beef were stunning. The place is pricey but worth every bit the price you pay for it.
Golden Dragon serves possibly one of the best Chinese food in town. The ambience is attractive; service courteous & attentive and food authentic Chinese - not the greasy, spicy Indo-Chinese dishes most restaurants dish out. The Dim Sum deserves special mention. A few negatives : the portions are rather small and not as they used to be; the restaurant does not serve complimentary Chinese Tea - which is an integral part of any Chinese meal and served in any Chinese restaurant across the world.
Golden Dragon is stately, without being in-my-face. It is elaborate without being overpowering. Spacious enough for your conversations to be private, GD has been a favourite in the city for a very long time. 45 years to be exact.
