This place offers you the authentic Marwari thali experience. They offer tasty , hygienic and economical Thalis. Located near Chennai railway station, a must visit place.
Want to satisfy the dal baati churma cravings or want a 'ghar wali lovely feeling' while being served, This is the place to go in Chennai. Waiting times could make your visit longer than expected. So, plan well. Taste, Love & Price wise you wom't be disappointed.
Great food, been there lot many times, it's one of my frequently visited places. Lovely tasty food. I always go for the special thali. Unlimited food in just 210, and totally homely food. A perfect place for the north indians in South India.
High quality & delicious North Indian Food! Do try out the special pickles they serve. Visit on Sunday's for the special meals
Don't come by Car, the roads are narrower.
Yeah guys today another review which can't say in words the outlook maybe dull and bit but the interior design was awesome the taste of food is Delaous
It was very good. Must try! If you are missing home food then this is the place to go. You will definitely love the food# Pure Marwari food!
Very friendly staff who will tell you how to try the Rajasthani dishes the right way and give you info on each item. They keep serving multiple times like a buffet for the meal option. Don't miss on trying their garlic chutney.
The place however was difficult to find plus the roads are narrower around so avoid coming in car due to parking issue.
Amazing, amazing food and service! The place is tucked away in the bustle of sowcarpet and worth visiting often. Tasty and not so spicy food, amazing dal, kadi, dal bati...recommend to go for the top thali! Another plus point is the lovely and patient service ensuring that you player is never empty, plus the owners tell you not to waste food which is commendable!
Amazingly nice place serves high quality and delicious food! Service is also damn good!
No great ambience but clean!
We were in for lunch on a Sunday afternoon and had to wait for almost 15 mins to get a place, but I heard that's not the usual scene!
They serve a Sunday special thali for 210Rs and it's totally worth a try.
Poori was not one bit oily and no extra masala. Almost every item goes well on the tummy!
Located in a small lane in Sowcarpeth, first I really wasn't sure about this place. But I anyways gave it a try and I was not disappointed. Tasty food with a lot of varieties in budget rate. The staff is very polite. Good service.
Ambience 3/5
Service 5/5

Don'tjudge a book by it's cover. Located in a small lane in Sowcarpet but serves very delicious Rajasthani food.
Not easy to locate this place if going for the first time. Delicious vegetarian food. Ambience is not that great. Perfect place for an inexpensive authentic Rajasthani food.
Being a Marwari and from North India I am in constant search for satisfying home style food. This is one such place or till now the only place to feel satisfied and not just full.
There is nothing fancy about the place but that is the charm.
It's a all you can eat meal with 2 options regualr and special thali.
The service the food is top notch. Although around 20kms from my house still I try and visit this place as many times as possible. Never a let down.
Tasty, hot, inexpensive food is served with a smile in Sree Agarwal Bhojanaalay a North Chennai iconic restaurant. Being ‘fed up’ 😁 with pretenders in up-market locations serving less tasty food at multiple times the price charged by this outlet a visit to this restaurant came just in time.
The service is quick by waiters who stand by to replenish your plate.
One of the few restaurants in the city serving affordable and traditional meals, I’d give this place a try, each time I went downtown.
Locating the restaurant can be a challenge but everyone in the neighbourhood seems to know where it is 😁
Parking is non-existent unless you’re on a two-wheeler.
Go for tasty thalis, served with passion and efficiency and for a filling meal which doesn’t cost a bomb
Myself and my friend visited this place on 7 Oct 2018. Located in a small lane on NSC Bose Road before Patni Plaza (towards Wall Tax Road). We ordered special thali costing Rs. 210/- per head. I expected a lot of varieties but was a bit let down by the menu. The sweet was top class rich and tasty. Poori and rice were served unlimited, piping hot. Taste was ok but not top class for this price. The place is air conditioned and servers were serving without much delay.
Quality of the food was good and not spicy to complain about. For that price, in my honest opinion, they should have served more varieties. Most people look out for that.
Good place for simple Rajasthani meal. It was a Sunday special meal for us, which was unlimited. The sweet and bundi raitha was limited. Were served with hot puri and dal batti . The chilli pickle is amazing and even bought few packs for home. If you are looking for simple and delicious rajadhani meal. This is a place.
Being a Rajasthani , hunting for an eatery for the traditional thali was a fulltime job. But this place takes care of all your cravings. Being in a difficult location, the hub of marwaris makes it even more worthwhile. Do not give up . Great food awaits. Padharo mahro des🙏🏻
If u are looking for Rajasthani delicacy in south India, worth trying..Super soft desi ghee wala Rotis served piping hot, Cadi, chaanch, Paneer, fresh salads, Misi roti (gram flour based), aloo curry, matar curry, Gulab Jamun, curd, dal, just out of tandoor Bikaner papads. Unlimited, super personalised service. Worth visiting again...👍😃
Excellent restaurant for authentic north Indian thali. Food is mild, not spicy, light on stomach and very tasty. The staff are very friendly and polite. Good ambience inside restaurant.
This place serves vegeterian marwari thali at very low price. The food quality out here is awesome. They serve mainly two types of thalis one is of Rs.160 and another is of Rs.200. The later one contains more options. The thali includes dal, 3 vegetables, salad, papad, curd, unlimited rice and roti, bati, gulab jamun, aam raas and indian condiments. The best part of this place is the service, you will feel that you being served food at home. Loved their gesture.
One of my friend, told me to try out food at this place. It was too good. A typical "Ghar Ka Khana". The only drawback is that they accept only cash 😃 looking forward to visit again
The best unlimited north Indian food in chennai according to me. Just love the taste, ambience everything here is a bliss.
The way they keep serving rotis without any hesitation makes me eat more and more.
Will recommend everyone I know to try this place .
Rating 5000/5
Went for a quick lunch from Chennai Central. Never thought lunch would be so great.couldnt have rice since the poori and dal baati couldn't allow me to move on.
Seldom there is an occasion when I wish I could eat more. And seldom I give 5 stars to a place. If you love North Indian food or even if you don’t, you’ll start loving if you visit this place.
The food is usually available after noon and after evening so check the timings before you go there.
Visited this twice within a week and will surely love to visit again whenever I’m in Chennai.
Authentic Rajasthani food. I survived my entire mbbs 6 yrs stay in Chennai due to Agarwal bhojanalaya. Lovely taste. Good quality.. you can actually binge home food. Saturday special garlic daal is my fav and chilled Amaras during summers... Hope to visit Chennai soon and revisit the taste..
Best Rajasthani restaurant in Chenna - to describe the food as awesome is an understatement. Thanks to my Rajasthani friend for introducing me to this place! Dhal baati served was way too splendid than I had imagined. Special mention to the responsive and patient people here
Had an amazing Rajasthani lunch at this place. The ambience was much better than what we expected it to be before entering. The servers took great care of us and kept serving the multiple dishes that were on offer until we felt bloated. It’s a nice deal for the 200 bucks that you pay on Sundays. (on other days it is Rs. 120/160). You get charged extra Rs. 15 for ghee.
Cons: We were given only puris. It would have been nice to have roti on the list.
Do not miss this place if you want to have authentic Rajasthani lunch. 👍🏻
If you are not from rajasthan and you want to know what marwari food tastes like, This is the best place you can get that taste. And if you are a marwari this place won't be lesser than heaven for you, that too this far from home. try their special thali to get a taste of everything.
Do use Google maps, it will be easy to route through narrow and busy lanes of George town.
If you want to have something rich and tasty I may suggest this Agarwal bhojanaalay cost of one person is 170 I guess but unlimited watch the timings before u enter
This place is a bhojanalaya kind of a place where the people serve food with lot of warmth. The service is beyond comprehension and so is the food. A typical North Indian Delight, the thali menu is good and filling. For addons, do try Gulab Jamuns and Baati Choorma. The choorma is prepared in fresh desi ghee and is one of the best I have ever had.
Unlimited Vegetarian north indian. These guys out there are willing to serve u how much ever u want as long as u eat everything. The makini rotis and panners the best. Try out their buttermilk too. I never get to try the gravies with the rice cuz i will be filled up with roties by that time. After the renovation the ambience is good enough. Though I personally loved it before the renovation because of their high energy servers, but sadly now they have become considerably toned down.

My craving for authentic north indian food lead me to this joint in NSC bose road. Little difficult to trace out this outlet but worth searching. Choosen special thali for its offering of kadi, panneer dish with unlimited servings at just 200 bucks.
Ambience is good and service is outstanding. Coming to food part the kadi which is made out of buttermilk is good like wise the panneer dish. Even the cut chillies needs special mention here, the chillies cut into small pieces and marinated tossed in spices is tangy and spicy. Rotis are fluffy and soft. Khichdi is served steaming hot and too good. Even white rice is being served.
Must visit in chennai to indulge yourself in north indian food.
A visit to sowcarpettai for shopping and you drain your energy.Well,This place refuels the whole energy back 😋
Location - Just follow the Google map because it's located in a street nearby patni plaza !!
Parking facility - Never think abt it 😂
Ambience - Business motive, Nothing much to discuss. It has a thin entrance area and a cash counter at the beginning and sufficient seating arrangement made and always stays full while Sundays. They whole ratings been made here just for food ✌️(2/5)
Food - The special thali ordered which comes with roti, meesi roti, bhatti, curd,Sweet,Rice, sabjis and paneer masala.
Everything is unlimited except curd, papad and sweet.
Too tasty and worth to eat here.(3.5/5)
Service - Super fast and no complaints !! (3.5/5)
VFM - The thali costs 200 bucks which is pocket friendly and you can fill your tummy full 😎
Overall,The typical budget restaurant and also does catering services and deliveries too. 😊
One of the most authentic north Indian home food experience one can have in chennai. Go on Tuesday and Saturday for their amazing gatte ki sabzi ! Love the baati and bhindi too! It feels like home away from home!

A neat placed visit and a satisfying one at that.
Only problem is the location, it's a very small street and a big no no to 4 wheelers.
Went in. Ordered a special thali each.
Comes with Sweet, Roti, Missi roti, batti, 3 subjis, panneer masal, daal, rice, papad, curd/butter milk.
Everything except the sweet, papad and curd/butter milk is unlimited.
And we had a blast, everything was awesome.
Bottomline - If you can make it to the location, you need to try it.
Another good restaurant in Sowcarpet. Just sit and eat. They will tirelessly serve you until you say no. Price is nothing compared to the quantity and quality. I loved their Batti, Kadi and the soft butter Roti. Rest all items in the thali were also great. Didn't go for the Chaach (Moore in South India) instead had the Dahi, wonderful. Sweets as always you cannot complain. Anyone going for the first time, keep google map closer, little difficult to find. Take an auto from Central through Wall Tax Road, it is at the junction of NSC Bose Road & Wall Tax Road.
Price 200 for sunday special
3 curries, dal bati, sweet, dahi wada, paneer and poori

Poori, Aloo curry, dal bati tasted superb and very good service
Being Typical South Indian I Would Say I Am Mad Of North Indian Flavour, I Use To Have Lunch Quite Often At Agrawal Bhojanalaya During My Early Days Of Sales Job, Recently When I Was Crossing Nsc Bose Road On Sowcarpet I Couldn't Miss Out Their Delicious Lunch, Be It A butter Roti, Or Batti taste awesome with their variety of subjis and gravies, the flavours of north Indian would melt in your mouth and pass through to your tummy, wow hmm yummy...☺
After so long time I salute them maintaining the taste,
Being a mess kindof atmosphere and location they charge 160 for a roti lunch and 200 for a roti with rice combo and both are unlimited. That's what when you needed when you go out of home to have lunch,
Only disadvantage is that you can @ reach this place only by two Wheeler even when you want to take your family better take a auto.
I cherish every bite of mine.
So guys go for it
Super tasty vegetarian Rajasthani thali joint. Been going here for a very long time and so feel that the special thali price at Rs 200 has become so pricey but I guess the price is about right given the number of dishes and how tasty it is.. the highlight is definitely the food.. often hear unfavourable comparisons to Gujarati Mandal, which is also around the corner and definitely cheaper, but for me this place scores so much better in terms of presentability, cleanliness, decor and service while serving arguably equally tasting food, if not better. Oldie but a goodie!
Amazing mouth watering North Indian food. Located in a very remote corner in sowcarpet, it was totally worth all the efforts locating the place. You get unlimited quantities of rotis, Bhatia and rice and yummy curries. Only catch is you won't get mobile signal inside the building.
The place is in the midst of the Sowcarpet near Chennai Railway station. Over the years, the restaurant has focused on ambience and has improved. But the quality of food has not changed over the years. It's the actual North Indian food- maa ka khana. Try their special thali along with Aamras during summers or chhaas during winters. The style of serving is similar to the North Indian tradition of serving food and youbare gonna like it. The prices have gone up but is still worth the price.
Well maintained...... awesome food....good service....proper north indian food.... but google maps showing wrong location .. hard to find for new customers..........
The ambiance and taste will transport you to authentic decades - old bhojanalyas that exist in the bylane in cities / towns in UP. The service is also courteous and fast. Aamras in particular is a must- try.
This place is must go for all the marwari in Chennai who are staying away from their mom. Food is great and has that home made touch. Try to evade the rush by going a bit early or bit late for dinner.
One of the best Place to have Rajasthani cuisine. Have been visiting this place since last 4 years . Whenever I come to Chennai I make sure I visit this place with my family . It's got lovely team to serve its customers (quick and friendly) . I recommend this for all home food lovers .
In the by-lanes, you'll have to look hard to find this place. Their extremely humble set up might give you doubts about their food. But, do not judge the book by its cover. Their hospitality is humbling. They would serve you like you are one amongst their family members, with love and care. The flavors are that of home food, very satisfying...their bati is delicious, so are their curries. Very light on the pocket, this veg only place will leave an impression on your mind and heart.

Definitely a five star for me. I have been here 6 years back and was here again for the love of Rajasthani cuisine. Undoubtedly, this is the best in town with its authentic taste intact. Beware spice lovers , this place might not suite you.. if your taste bud craves for multi cuisine, this place is a must...
There CANNOT be a better place to eat a North Indian thali in Chennai. It is dearth cheap and you almost eat inside a dingy mess hall - but this place is always buzzing with people.
Do not miss their aam panna if you are visiting them in summers.
One of the few vegetarian places which a beef-prawn-fish fan would not regret visiting.
Perfect rajasthani food in a land of dosas .. This place is absolutely unbelievable... there is a thali system here . Pay once and get unlimited food .
Food Quantity - Unlimited 10/10
Food Quality - 9.5/10
Ambience - 9/10
Service - 10/10
Value for money - 10/10
The way these people serve food is something ppl should learn ... Everything here feels nothing less than home
We went there for lunch. The place had been shifted temporarily to second floor. Accessing the restaurant through narrow staircases was amusing. But it proved to be well worth the effort in locating the place. We ordered a special thali. The food was amazing. The spread was really good. Definitely recommended!
Its a heaven for the rajasthani like me in chennai where you could have the right feel of back home. Its a bit difficult to fine if you dnt take the help of google. People over there often confuse for the way.
Baati was good but service was a bit let down
The perfect North Indian thali for lunch. The messi roti was awesome . It was hot n soft with panner n dhal gravy. Gulab jamun was so soft n juicy with sugar syrup . Lassi was gud.
From my childhood days wenver i visit sowcarpet my dad nd me use to hav our lunch here....A very smal mess kinda place...bt yu wil alwys find ths place filld...Thr meal s thr spclty...Soft smal chapathis wth 3 gravies.... nd one veggie later thy provide rice...unlimitd...taste 👌Bt now i thnk thy hav lost thr softy chapathi maker...dats a sad thng spcly fr me!
I was dying to eat north Indian food since my last three weeks in Chennai. This place really satisfied me. Tasty food with superb service. It took me almost an hour to reach the place and it was crowded, had to wait for five minutes. But the journey and wait was worth. Looking forward to go again whenever I will be bored eating south Indian stuff.
Value for money. Delicious north indian food. Probably the best north indian thali you can get in Chennai. The service is really good. We had really really nice time being here.
Getting Rajasthani food is Chennai is like heaven...
Being from Rajasthan...i was searching for a place like this where I can get food as good as you want...
Located at sowcarpet...the place looks like a mini Rajasthan...everyone speaks Marwari...you will feel very homely...

Amazing Food !! Their Dal-Bati and Dal-Baphla is a treat. Make sure you ask for sugar and prepare "Churma" for yourself. Most authentic Dal-Bati-Churma / Dal-Sabzi in Chennai. For someone coming from North of the country this is Home-made food. Worth every single rupee they charge. Only one flaw - They do not deliver, but then the food is that good that I travel 20 kms almost every weekend to have this delicacy.
This place is North Indian's saviour in Chennai especially when you are low on budget. It's around 1 km walk from central station. They serve you Thali exactly like what you will get in a typical Rajasthani home. During my early job days in Chennai, I used to eat their every day till I finally got a Nepali cook. Only problem with this place is that the ambience is not good and you have to go through narrow dirty streets to finally reach the place. But the food is really bliss. You can't get better and more authentic Rajasthani food than this place in whole of Chennai.
Hi, even for Chennaites its difficult to find the place. Its located in a small lane behind Patni plaza. It's a small eatery, mess sort of place. Place is clean and so the plates and vessels. I had a Special Thali meal on Sunday, Served with ALU subji, Capsicum gravy, Paneer subji along with Dhal (tastes almost like sambaar). Strangely they are serving unlimited poori's instead of Phulka. All tasted above average and nothing to cheer. Not worth to visit again.
Thanks to zomato users :) a random search on a typical hot summer resulted in this hidden gem.
Calm place, comforting stafff, tasty meal at a pocket friendly price is all what i can say about this place. Had it been in south chennai, i would have frequented this place often.
First thing I would say is value for money specially buffet, its a very hygienic place but its very difficult to locate the place, people who server are very friendly,I just loved the place.

We were there on a Sunday. For 175 we had a hearty meal. Locating the place may be a problem for first timers. Follow Google map and it will lead you to the exact place. The bhojanaalay in itself has zero ambience but more than makes up in terms of food. The staffs are friendly and the food is Great.
To start off this place is immensely difficult to locate. Even if you do find the lane, you have to navigate through the narrow lane before you get to this place.
Situated in the Marwari dominated area of Chennai in Sowcarpet. Reminded me of navigating similar lanes and bylanes in my hometown.
Ambiance not much to speak of. Completely enclosed with no natural light which was a put off. However the food was a godsend. One of the best Rajasthani thalis iv ever had. Which includes some of the biggest and over hyped restaurants in the metros.
You will find waiters bustling along attending to people and before you know if you can't have any more of the unlimited thali. So order a glass of butter milk/chass and your meal is complete.
I usually don't take pics of the food i eat but i just had to make an exception this time around. Drove 25kms to this place on a fellow foody's (Kaushik ) recommendation and even the hot Chennai sun couldn't dampen my feeling of satisfaction after such having such a thoroughly satisfying meal.
This is an ancient sweet shop, one of the oldest in this area. They also have Thalis and quick eats. Besides all their types of sweets they have samosas, lassi, kachoris, roti, papad, etc. Different types of chutneys and deep fried veggies are available too. Their Sunday menu has stuff I've never heard off such as capsicum and bitter gourd fry. I was skeptical to try to I went for the safe potato fry which was good. I simply love their Kaju Katli that I bought half kg after having had some in their shop. Northies will absolutely love this place.
We ordered 1500 laddus for my sis marriage. People easily found out that the laddus were bought from Agarwal. Their best is the samosas and basundi. Small place with great snacks and sweets.
Unbelievable place!
Nothing fancy. Delivers what is expected.
If you are looking for a place to witness traditional Rajasthani cuisine daal-baati-choorma then you better check out this place. Apart from that, their veg curries are simply homely.
The rating is for its food and service. It's a small place and mostly crowded. So, you might have to wait to get a place but worth waiting.
You can actually forget about their pricing. So, pocket friendly they are.
Remember, its not a place for a romantic date night !
We reached Chennai central around 2.00 pm and was looking for north Indian restaurant to have lunch.. we found this place on Zomato itself and it was very near to central so we went there.
It was Sunday.. and they were serving special thali for afternoon.. It was delicious.. 3-4 veg curries.. poori.. papad.. dal-bhatii.. sweets..everything was tasty.. :)
Most favourite north Indian food place in Chennai. Offers superb and *healthy* food. If you miss the home cooked food in North India, give this place a shot. Must have is the *Mirch Lahsun Chutney* which is served only on Wed, Sunday and Friday I think. You can purchase a small bottle of it for 35 Rs on other days.
Quality - 5/5
Quantity - 5/5
Value-for-money - 5/5
Service - 5/5
Ambience - 4/5 (Can be crowded at times. Very simple seating arrangement adds to the authenticity)
Highly recommended, esp those who hit Chennai central often :)
This place is one such tiny air-conditioned eatery where you would want to go after all the hassle-full shopping that you would have done in the streets there. Been there and done that. So we had asked for samosas , kachoris and lassi for a quick snack. Their service is really quick and you would have your food in hand in no time. Their samosas and kachoris are super hot and yummy and fills your stomach. Their lassi is very thick more like rabdi and very refreshing. The dry fruit halwas and jalebis are a must have at agarwals. Kudos to their superfast and friendly service.

Just wow. Taste, service, quantity. Enjoyed everything. Couldn’t take much photos and will try next time to take more photos. I love this and will recommend
Home like food. Ordered Special Thali unlimited (Unlimited vegetables, Salad, Roti/Bati), taste was really awesome, enjoyed the food, Butter milk was also good. if you are visiting sowcarpet or nearby you must visit here. Service was also good.
A true thali experience...loved the food, the service and the vibes.....the phulkas were piping hot and smeared with fresh ghee....the mohanthal was warm and delightful....all the subzis were tasty without the usual onion tomato flavors truckloads of oil...the kadi was excellent.
The best!!! I ve been visiting this place for last 10 yrs now and the food never disappoints. Its the best home cooked food you ll get outside of your house . The service staff is very hospitable, the atmosphere of the restaurant is very simple, it doesn't please you in any way but it doesn't give you anything than the best food.
This is the best Rajasthani thali, I have ever eaten in Chennai. People are very kind and soft spoken. I love their Dal-batti and gatte ki sabji everytime I visit their, I get a pack of lahsun chatni from them. I stayed 4 years in Bikaner and this is a place to recreate those food memories.
Food taste is okay okay, But when you get Rajsthani thali in chennai then you will get water in your mouth. Nice place to eat, and service is good hygienic place.
But difficult to find for new person because it is hide inside a small road.
If you want less spicy North Indian Foods, you must go there. Nothing to disappoint there. Can't miss it next time.
Must visit place to taste authentic north indian. Opt for unlimited thali to enjoy the sumptuous meal. Gulab jamun is a must try.
North food specially for north peoples who could never imagine to get it in chennai ,quality and quantity of food are amazing.small place without any fancy ambiance, Only cash payment is available here.
Samtrupti.. The only word I can say... Small but well maintained... So tasty food.. ..felt so happy... Must visit atleast once .. Authentic Rajasthani vegeterian food...
Wonderful place for pure Vegetarian north Indian lunch and dinner. Don't miss out super chiled Aam ras and pudhina paani. Masala chaas goes good with lunch. Do not miss out missi roti. Fresh, hot soft butter rotis will melt in your mouth. Overall rating 150 out of 5 🤗😋😇.
Remarkable place for North Indian food .. the cuisine is fantastic and authentic gujrati style and not limited to... A fabulous place to recommend any one
Very good hospitality by the server and super worth for money. Good vegetarian place if you love to have rotis with good side dishes. We always choose unlimited option.
The only concern is you will not get network inside the hotel.
It's a very good North indian Vegetarian restaurant serving hot chappathies ( unlimited) with 3 side dishes. Value for money Rs. 180/- per meal.
Chappathi is served by a smart guy, within seconds of your completion, he will be watching you, and another 2 hot Chappathi will be served. He doesn't count.Eager to serve!! Similarly you ask for any side dish. They serve you ''n" number of servings with smile. Enjoy!! 😂👌🤪🤪🤪
Best food u can have .. satisfactory pure veg food no onion no garlic food also available
Services are really good and worth the money.
Restorent is excellent for vegetarian. Thali is there where it is unlimited except some dish food is very good. You can find taste of rajashthan with dal bati churma. I go with my family enjoy too much. My suggestion you should go there and check whether my post is good for you or not. There is time restriction lunch is available between 1100 hrs to 1430 hrs and dinner is available between 1800 hrs to 2030 hrs I think before going to restorent check that it is open or not. Thanks
