I know it's a small place there is no parking space but the positive side is the jalebis are good and also the oil is not reused , it's a big thing because mostly some shopkeepers Reuse the oil again and again
Who will not love this badam milk. Havent tasted the same anywhere else so far
Best place for starting food walk in Sowcarpet
Dahi kachori - large sized kachoris broken into pieces with sweet flavoured curd ,green chutney ,sweet chutney , topped with mixture
Bhel puri - qunatity was more and taste was too gd
Food quality is high. Best place to try kesar badam milk & panner butter masala. Must try resturant in mint street.
Tried Many Times But This Is My First Review On Kakada Ramprasad .Most Crowded Place In Mint Sreet Tried Jelabi And Dahi Puri Both Were Good(Not The Extreme Yumm)This Place Is Good But Not To The Hype Given...
One of the most crowded places in the Mint Street. The surroundings seems to be unhygienic but the food served was too good. I've been here twice. I've had chat once thali the other time. Both were too good. My only suggestion would be to serve chats before 3:00 PM 😂, so that people who are tired of shopping from the morning can come over and have some good food.
Best North Indian thali !!!

A must visit place for a North Indian with its squad of friends in Chennai to relish the plethora of chaat delicacies & other sweet tooth cravings on offer.
I love the badam milk here..it's bit costly..120/- rupees but its really worth it.. yummy.. i love the jilebi too..they serve the hoty hot jilebi.. service was good.
It has the best North Indian food in Chennai. Located on Mint Street in Sowcarpet, the building stands out in the small street. Food was amazing, gol gappas and chaat items are a must have and to add to the amazing experience you have Anmol Lassi wala next to it 👍👍
The real taste of Sowkarpet.. The best jalebi I have ever eaten .. I suggested my friends they also went and said that they loved the shop..
Kakada Ramprasad is my। favourite shop as it's really a old shop were you get all।varieties of sweets and savouries..My parents use to order from there now I use to order for my family ...Kakda milk is one you must try it's really heavy and tasty if u drink one glass your tummy will be full and u may not want to have anything for three to four hours.. and the next is my favourite hot jalebi ..if you go to kakada don't miss to have jalebi and kakda milk...They also serve yummy food and chat.... We usually go to food walk if we go to sowcarpet it will be having all sweets and chats...
Had been there for a quick snack. Lip smacking chat items - piping hot jalebis and aloo tikkis are must try ones. Highly recommend this place for chat lovers
Firstly don't go by car there. Go on foot or a rickshaw.
The street where this restaurant is located takes you back to those gullies in small town Punjab or Chandni Chowk in Delhi. That itself was fun, given otherwise Chennai is so different.
The restaurant is basic but was highly recommended for its street food. Paani Puri was disappointing, but aaloo tikki Chaat and bhalla papadi Chaat were excellent and redeemed our experience. We also ordered a masala kulcha, an onion kulcha, butter naan with daal makhani. Kulchas and naan were well made. Daal was little sweet for my taste though.
In the end we had a cold pista badam milk. Heavenly.
This place is always full no matter what time of the day it is. On the ground floor, they've chat items and pani poori joint along with some other snacks that people can order and eat or take away. The first floor of the place has a good seating arrangement with proper AC cooling. If you get tired after shopping in Sowkarpet area, just go to this place, order food, sit, relax, eat and then go on to your way.
I've a sweet tooth. So this place was recommended by my friends and I should say I wasn't disappointed!
Tried their Basundhi and some of their milk sweets that I've never heard of previously. Delicious is the word ✌🏻
Their famous signature "Kakada badam milk" is the best. Have been tasting the drink since childhood and no other badam milk replaced its taste till now.! Hot Jalebi and Cold badam milk be the best pair here... Do try them.❤️
Decent chat food. I liked that they have three different varieties of pani for the pani puri.
Their Aloo tikki was good but I expected better.
Since my two months stay in Chennai been here twice..once to have north Indian chaat and next for fine dining punjabi thali
We had ordered pav bhaji and raj kachori..raj kachori is must to dig in..its a treat for taste buds with fine balance of sweet and sour taste of chutney..best part unlike all so called north Indian outlet in Chennai there is no kari patta added.
In punjabi thali we wr served with chaat, buttermilk , sweet , salad 3 sabji.roti and rice.its a limited thali but portion size is decent enough for 2 people.
Paneer had bit of sweetness which is unlike typical punjabi taste.dal makhani was light and just melts in mouth.
All in all good food for eyes and I loved the ambience..relaxed environment and no rush rush to eat and go.
Will go again to try vada pav and badam milk
One of the best places in Chennai. Known famously for its chats and sweets and also north indian dishes. Tried the Pani Puri and Dahi Papadi Chat. The pani puri was excellent and they has three different Varieties of water for pani puri. The Dahi Papdi chat was Amazing. The best though was JALEBI. I dont think you can find a better Jalebi than this. It was crisp and right amount of sweet was added. This should be tried all by the foodies.
After hearing a lot about this place, I went there along with 4 of my friends. This shop is located in the heavily crowded Mint street in Sowcarpet. We tried their most talked Kesar Badam. Delicious and super tasty for this summer. Must try for all.
Wanted to try their thali since they used basmati rice .. it was much upto my expectation. The buttermilk was just perfect for this summer. The sweets and chats also tasted good. The drink which I enjoyed the most was badam milk and was worth for the price being paid
Jelabi at its best... Feel the heaven wen u take the first bite... Next to it the badam pista milk...worth of money...Also a very decent place for chat...
God like _/\_
Superb place to have north indian food...It is a must try place in sowcarpet... Ordered kulchas,Panner butter masala and Jalebi... Every dish is very tasty .JALEBI and BADAM MILK are awesome
One of the best veg restaurants I have visited. Its been more than 5 months that I have visited this place, but I cannot forget the taste of Panneer makhani. Thank you #kakada_ramprasad for such a delicious dish. But prices are a little expensive. But it is veg heaven for all those plant lovers.
All time favourite snacking shop❤
In the frame : Aloo Tikki chaat and mouth watering Jalebi😋
Aloo tikki chaat - 127.Rs
Jalebi - 67.Rs
If you're a hygiene freak then Kakada Ramprasad is a Must!!!
Located in the busy street of Sowkarpet
#Veg💯#Quality💯#pocketfriendly💯
Took my Sowcarpet frnds to explore the place. First place of suggestion was Kakada.
We tried their jalebi and Spl badam milk.
Jalebi was served super hot and tasted authentic and a decent portion was given.
Badam milk was really goood with badam loaded all over in it..But after seeing other reviews i expected an out of the world experience...but it wasnt quite so!
Still got 2 more of it parcelled😛
*Prices are slightly on the higher side
*Parking is congested since the street is very narrow.
Perfect place for quality veg Thali. Entering the road is the big deal. It used to be crowed, but managed to reach there before it gets busy.
Been there 3-4 times and I quite liked the place.
Their must try items are the hot fresh Jilebis and the delicious Kesar badam milk.
As an avid Pani Puri lover,it did not match my standard.
The sandwiches are really good and value for money .
Would definitely recommend a visit just for the Jilebis !
#HotJilebis #Sweettooth #chat
Best chaat I had in town so far. After shopping in the busy streets in the area this was the best thing to rest, eat and drink. From the appetiser to the chaat and the ras malai, it was delcious. We even ordered some dishes to take with us to enjoy it also at home.
This is a really busy place located in one of the most compact and busy streets in sowcarpet, Chennai.
Tried the pani puri and jalebi here. They offer three varieties of the green chutney in pani puri. All three tasted unique and delicious. This is surely a must have if you are a pani puri lover.
The jalebi was freshly made and tasted 'ok', I felt it lacked originality and was kind of over cooked and over priced. Won't recommend the jalebi here.
We went in to have an authentic North Indian food so we choose to come to this place after our shopping.... Since it was a Saturday we had to wait for 30 mins... It was totally worth the wait... We had thali paneer kulcha, North Indian thali and Haldi Biriyani... Everything was too good... Their way of serving Biriyani was very different... The food had very mild masala... Totally worth it... I would have given 5 stars but the AC was too mild which made me give 4 maybe it was mild to keep the food warm
I heard a lot about this shop from my colleagues and friends..but haven't tried so far. Today luckily I happened to taste this amazing drink and sweet through one of my colleague. I must say kesar badam pista milk was real yum and delicious😋😋. I could still feel that taste of the nuts and thick saffron milk.. jalebi and kaju katli was also tasted very good.
Kakada Ramprasad shop is well known among all the chat lovers. After a great hype from my friends, I made a visit to their shop, ordered Badam Milk & 2pcs Rasamalai's. Though, the Badam milk was very tasty, it was very thick. There was very less pieces of badam in it. I strongly feel that, when compared to Kakada Ramprasad Badam Milk & Shree Mithai's Badam Milk, I'll definitely go with Shree Mithai's. The reason is, It is correct thickness & sweetness. Moreover they have more pieces of badam in it which makes them even more tastier.
Best badam milk in town.
Cold badam milk - 105 INR (Inclusive of tax and GST)
Verdict 👩⚖️ - Loaded with nuts, it's rich, thick and absolutely delicious. This drink will fill you up in a jiffy. A must try, worth the 💰.

An Oasis admist the dehydrated walks your girl drags you for that particular Jhimmiki which costs 50 rupees less.
The Badam milk is truly heavenly and does reputation to it's legend which had more badam to munch on than drink. We also had Pav Bhaji which was extremely Okayish and Aloo Tikki was fine by me and but my didn't like it.
The Bill was 468 rupees which is quite expensive for four chat items but does justice for the 110 rupees tag on the Badam milk.
Try only their badan milk, which is the best drink i ever had. Nobody on earth can dislike it.A must try for everybody.Though a bit costly you will get more satisfied than the money spent.
Have always wanted to try the Thali at Kakkada Ram Prasad....
Ordered Thalis, Tandoori Paneer Sizzler and a MAC and Cheese....
The thalis arrived promptly and so did the pasta...
We did not have to wait too long for the food... Service is impeccable....
Now coming to the food... The Paneer Tikka Sizzler came with 5 huge chunks of Paneer Tikka served on a bed of rice along with sides of boiled vegetables and makhni gravy...
It tasted fine... Nothing out of this world...Tikka marinade could have been better...
The Mac ‘N’ Cheese was amazing... it was cheesy and had a few vegetables in it like corn and capsicum...It was piping hot and had tons of stringy cheese in it...
Last but not least let’s move onto the thalis... The Thalis came with Roti, Pappad, Thurai gravy, Dal, Palak Paneer, Kofta gravy, Ghee Rotis and Jeera rice...
The servers were prompt and attentive... Food was good and refills were brought promptly...
I’ve given only 4 stars as the paneer sizzler was not that great...
Will visit again as the food was good, though the prices are a little on the higher side...
One of the oldest eateries in Chennai and one of my favourite spot in mint street. I always look up to this place when I wanna taste North Indian delicacies.
Never miss the hot hot jalebis or dahi puri. Moreover every chaat has its own significance here. Do try out the badam milk too.
Taste: 4/5
Place: 3.5/5
Service: 3.5/5
❤❤❤❤❤❤
Big heart for the kakada because they have turned a small sweets shop to a big family restaurants with Wide variety of snacks, Chats, sweets, etc
You have to try jalebi and badam milk it is a bit costly but you won't get that taste in any other store.
I tried some other items which is okay not that great but you can eat once.
Good place for chats and desserts especially . Their jalebi and badam milk are must try ! Naan and Roti were the usual though should comment on their masala kulcha ! Pricing , the usual ...Should try the starters next time . Yes , would not mind visiting again !
Aloo tikki and badam milk!! The BESTEST of all the time 😋😍 Even i could feel the mouth watering while typing this review.. Just grab yours. And carry some extra cash, it's quite costlier.
Ordered Aloo tikki chat, pani puri and badam milk.
The Aloo tikki chat was so so good with the rich creamy dahi and crispy aloo.
In pani puri the puri was crispy and the pani was cold and tasty. The pudina pani was the best.
The badam milk is THE BEST i have had in chennai.
All the dishes might seem bit costly but it was worth it.

No doubt one would certainly fall in love with aloo tikki. But off course open cooking is one down side (Considering price point). One will find taste of the food never lets down. Tandoori, chats, sweets especially badam milk and jelabi tastes best. Must visit.
kakada sweets are really taste great and the badam milk was awsome with nuts chat items really taste well nice place to have chats and sweets.. if you go through sowcarpet please visit kakada and enjoy ur taste.
This place is one of the oldest places around, used to be a small shop earlier and was renovated couple of years into a multi storey building with a small restaurant option. Till date, they serve the finest Badam milk, hot jalebis and amazing Aloo tikki chaat. These are the must try here. Do not expect a restaurant kinda ambience, it is fast food and self service. They also have a good range of sweet choices.
sowcarpet food walk without kakada ramprasad is always an incomplete one... Known for their sweets and chats for a long time... legendery outlet in chennai.... They have ac indoor seating as well a stand and eat type of stall outside the shop.. you can see them making your chats... Not like other chat shops I went, this one is very clean..
special mention to that....
I tried aloo tikki chat and badham milk... aloo tikki chat was good.. But didn't impressed us... Badham milk was awesome.. must try one.. strongly recommend it to all.... Eventhough a small glass is 105rs, every sip is worth giving that amount... Never tasted something like that....
Service was good...fast...
#must visit...
Kakada Ramprasad! Though sowcarpet is infested with loads of food and chaat shops, well this place as made its mark and is doing quiet well with their flavourful chaats , north indian cuisine, sweets and drinks.
Moving on to the food,
1. Paneer Tikka: this wasnt upto the mark, the paneer was a bit over cooked and the masala was raw.
2. Jelabi - crispy hot jelabi's made from pure ghee.
3. Pani Puri - eating chaat is incomplete without pani puri's, and they serve with 3 different types of pani flavours.
4. Badam milk- this is most richest badam milk i have ever had, so thick creamy and loaded with excess of badam, pista and cashews ! The best.
.
The ambience is crowded usually, and service is also kinda slow.
Overall an great place for chaats and quick bites.
#KakadaRamprasad
Cutlet, phulka & aloo+gobi sabji was very good in north indian thali. Badams milk was ok. Mango cup dessert was the best among all and is a must have.
Still continuing to maintain their high standards in sweets and badam milk. The kachoris and Paani poori are excellent. My suggestion would be to opt for the Bengali sweets. The north Indian thaali is not so good and can be avoided.
Ambiance: 3/5
Cost : approx 300/2, 4/5
Taste : good, 4/5
Service: good, 4/5
The best chat centers available ! The food was too delicious and looked appealing ! The cost was normal ! Must try paneer tikka masala, garlic naan, and chat items !
Kakada means sweet..According to me they sell the best north indian sweets [esp jalebi] in Chennai.
I visited this place with my friends, we had pav bhaji , chaat , grilled sandwich, dahi poori, sev poori
and everything was tasted nice.
Recommendation:
- If you want to eat north indian food in chennai, you should visit this place.
- Don't go by car as this place is in the busy lanes of sowcarpet.
Heard lot of Mint street Northi Chats and sweets and there is One best places for Badam kheer .
I would say by far the best Badam kheer i have tasted .
Sweets are also good at this place .
This place is always crowded .
Ambiance : 2.5
Food :4.5
Price :4.5
It would cost you 110 Rs per Badam kheer .trust me it's worth it .
must try restaurant in sowcarpet ❤
I particularly loved their freshly made hot jalebis and Badam milk is costly but worth 😘
pricing is reasonable
very crowded and ambience is not that much good..
Excellent taste. Costly but the taste is worth it. The outlet is full of crowd everytime. We have to wait a little to find a place to sit. The sweets are yummmm. Especially the Badam Milk is heaven. The chats are also soo nice.
It's impossible to not visit Kakada ramprasad going to sowkarpet.
It were the usual picks, aalo chat, dhahi papdi, samosa and Jalebi. All of them were served fresh and tasted incredible. With no much space in tummy and also with the greed to gave Badam milk, got it parceled.
Went here after a tiring day hoping to get my hands on a few delicious jalebis and aloo tikkis. We reached the place finally and the biggest disappointment was waiting right there. We were told that the chats and jalebis were closed that day for whatever reason and told us to take basundi and the like from downstairs. We had to settle for the basundi. It was good but I couldn't fully appreciate it because I was disappointed and was really looking forward to have some hot jalebis.
What's a trip to sowcarpet without eating at kakada ramprasad.
Early morning breakfast calls for hot jalebis, kachoris, samosa and fafda of course.
The jalebis here are one of a kind and are my kinda gold.😁
If you are looking for the best kesar badam pista milk in Chennai, then you should surely make a visit to kakada.
They do have lot of varities of sweets which are drool worthy.
Great but a bit costly !! Had Dahi Papdi chat and Kachori - both were great . Kachori was a bit too sweet .
But definitely worth a try if you are willing to spend a bit more for a great authentic taste .
Till now only got to eat dahipuri and bhelpuri which were on point north Indian taste and the amazing badam pista milk😋😋
will update the review once i try more
Kakada ramprasad is the name that comes to mind when you want to head for authentic chat ! Must eat place in chennai , in sowcarpet !!
This is a only vegetarian chat centre !
They have a sweet shop with restaurant! But the chat centre is the one which steals the show !
Food : ordered the aloo tikki chat !!
A big chunk of smashed potato patty deep fried and cut into pieces , drenched in their homemade preparation of mint , sweet , tamarind , hot / spicy chutney with a generous amount of thick creamy curd and sprinkled with Bhujia - just take you to the heaven !!
The. For the sweet tooth : their fresh hot jalebis ! Just lip smacking !!
Pricing is reasonable ! Highly crowded!!
Whenever going to sowkarpet I must enter into kakada to enjoy their hot hot jilebies... Freshly made taste is damn good... Crispy and juicy... I'm having it more than 3yrs still the taste remains same.. this rating is only only one and only for their chat items and hot jilebies... Sweets and savouries available inside the shop is okayish only...
Tasted aloo tikki and chilli cheese sandwich, both were good but price seems to be little higher side. They have variety of sweets tasted few but they weren't great just ok.
one of the best sweets and snacks shop in Chennai. Had some good samosas, jalebis, dahi papdi chat. Needless to say their Badam milk is amazing.
restaurant is on a conjusted lane, so very tough to reach on weekdays. No parking facility.
yummy dhokla kachori samosa. hot hot jalebiz are must ones to taste. had been there for early morning breakfast, only drawback i see is might install a high table to stand and keep the plates. quite difficult to hold them and eat. last but not least do not miss the badam milk which was heavenly with to many nuts.
This famous chat/sweet place is one of the must try restaurants as part of the famous sowcarpet food walks. They serve one of the best chats in Chennai. I particularly love their kachori and pani puri. The garam garam jalebis and badam milk are to die for. The place however is pretty crowded as a result the service isn't that great and there is a lot of waiting time. But I must say it's worth your time and money.
Food: 4.5/5
Service: 3.5/5
Overall: 4/5
How can you not visit Kakada Ramprasad when you visit Sowcarpet. A posh place with a pricey menu but the taste is out of this world. Situated in a highly buzzing road in Sowcarpet, a place which serves quality North Indian food. We tasted the highly recommended badam milk which was filled with badams upto the brim. Pani Puri had 3 options of pani. How can we miss the jelabi? Hot and flavorful.
Food: 5/5
VFM: 4/5
Ambience: 2/5
Best cold masala milk ever had is here. A bit heavy but tastes heavenly. Full of dry fruits. A glass equals to a complete meal. They are maintaining the same taste since they open there shop.
The restaurant ia Good
I ordered Panner Butter Masala ,
North Indian Thali ,
stuffed Naan ,
Panner tikka
and butter Milk everything is Good
Atmosphere is little busy because of the crowd
Overall the Food was Good
My visit was in evening, Managed to get a table in first floor after a wait of 1 min as we were 2 ppl, else you need to wait in queue after giving your name and count of ppl. Once tables are available you will be called in. Ordered chats, and hot gulab jaboon. As usual took parcel of their signature badam milk.
Good north Indian food. Not sure if worth travelling just for food, but if you are in/around the area, definitely can visit. Pani puri was very good, proper Bombay style.
It's there in a narrow and very populated busy street, so forget 4 wheelers or even 2 wheeler (perhaps u ll find some parking some distance away).
Very live atmosphere... but you need to earn it by walking through the crowd and waiting
Chat items ka Shenshah.....also best varieties of sweets and savouries....i relished them at Mint Street outlet and this was my 5th visit this year.
Crowded, but worth standing for each and every single type of food delicacy over here.
Different varieties of sweets are available (Mainly North Indian sweets). And their Jalebi is Average taste only, but their Badam milk is must try.

Very great ambience and restaurant seating with street view; Talking about the cuisine, this shop has the wide variety of chat items (veg) , without doubt this is the most popular shop in the whole mint street (sowcarpet). This restraunt also has vintage Bollywood music being played in the longue, which was really pleasant. They also have "jain" version of chats which excludes root and underground variety vegetables. Sadly, this is not a place for non- veg lovers.
Bit crowded but worth it, just mouth watering chats item's and famous alu tikki & ghee jalebi, just can't get enough... Wonderful quality and wholesome quantity too. Must try spot for chats lovers.
Amazing taste of north style street food!! 😀
Rates are a bit on higher side. Sweets are really good and you can get snacks like murukku and chips of south india.
Restaurant on the 1st floor is just amazing. Taste of subzi and Dal is just like North 😍
It's fully air conditioned and seating facility is provided.
Every food in their menu looks, feels and tastes delicious. In an crowded day we might have to stand and wait as long as 20 mins to get our order in hand as this place in only self service. And this is not the right place if you are looking for hygiene spot.
