The restaurant ambience was good but there were lot of mosquitoes inside though. The four wheeler parking was a bit difficult. Japanese food was too, we liked their sushi especially the prawn. People like me who is not a fan of raw sea food but likes sushi, this prawn sushi was one of it and I liked it. The wheat veg noodles tasted good.

The food was awesome! The sushi's were great and also the salmon. Very quick and attentive staff. Paramjit Singh was really polite and nice!
For a experience of Japanese cuisine, headed to Fuji for lunch. Couldn't think that we were in Chennai for a minute because of the ambience & fellow guests.
For starters , ordered chicken kaarage ,chicken gyoza & prawn tempura. Everything tested better with the soy sauce, all were equally good!
For main course had miso ramen & yaki soba noodles ( both chicken) while the yaki soba was good, ramen wasn't for me. Probably it had the fish stock taste from the seaweed , which didn't work out for me well. At the end , they served vanilla ice cream which was on the house.
Pricing ( for 3 bill was Rs 3592, service charge alone was Rs.300) was the only problem but I think for people like me this would be a one time experience but they do have a regular crowd coming for their food. The service took time but the person incharge apologized citing that it was a busy day( apologies accepted )

Absolutely lovely place, with amazing food. The Shabu Shabu here is my favorite. It's like the perfect meal for anybody (who eats meat). We tried the Shoyu Ramen as well, very close to the actual taste of Japanese Ramen. The Gyoza and Sushi platter is also wonderful I was introduced to this place by a Japanese person, and it turned out absolutely fantastic! I strongly recommend this place.
The food was absolutely amazing. I felt like I was in Japan. The Ambience was like wow. I had the Raman which was so flavoursome. I recommend people to have this. The sushi was too good too. I’m looking forward to visit again. In fact I’m planning to go again today :)

One of the most authentic Japanese food in Chennai. It was on my bucket list for a while. The management are so friendly and warm. The place had good ambience and welcoming vibe. I settled on course B in the menu. The sushi rolls was so yummy and I wanted more. Niagri sushi was also soft and filled with yumminess. The chicken rice also was warm and well cooked in the chicken broth. It was conforming. The prawn teppanyaki was outstanding and was full of flavor. It is one of the must visit restaurants for overall experience in Chennai.
We visited this restaurant today after reservation via zomato. The ambience was amazing. As long as we stayed there we felt as if we were in Japan. We ordered Karage, sushi, miso ramen and chicken rice. We admit that the taste was an exact replica of what we ate in Osaka several years ago. I believe that this is the reason why it was full of Japanese customers. The pork belly in the ramen was too delicate and savory. What an amazing experience!!! Thank you Fuji.
Yesterday I visited this this place with my friend, as I am a great lover of Japanese this place is just right for me. The friendly and warm service by Mr Manoj (Manager) make it a best ever visit to any of the restaurant. I am big fan of tuna they served fresh me a very fresh and beautiful Maguro Sashimi.

A slice of Japan in traditional and old Chennai. It’s truly an escape to one of my favourite cuisines. The chef is Japanese so it explains why the food is fantastic. As soon as I finish my food here I can’t wait to plan my next trip back. The ramen is ah-mazing! Only critique would be that the noodles don’t soak up as much of the broth as I would’ve liked, so need to work that left hand to slurp some of the awesome broth with every bite of noodles.
And the ratio of fish to rice in the sushi is mind blowing! Well worth the price!
So if you want quality Japanese food with authentic taste, this is the place to go in Chennai.
An experience to be definitely had! I had a sashimi lunch set contained delicious raw fish! spicy tasty tempura of vegetables as well as yummy prawns and an unforgettable miso soup! also, tried the pork yasai itame, a recommendation by pochon, a genuinely friendly person who has served the restaurant for over 3 years now!
The manager manoj was extremely friendly, and also a great guide through the japaneese culinary experience.
Regrets if any would be the unavailability of the matcha icecream when i visited! also would like to see new additions like the wagyu beef items and the famous mochi from japan!

The food is amazing! Since I prefer raw fish, I would suggest the Hamachi amongst all the fishes. Love the flavor and feel of this fish. The Yakitori could have been a little softer. Their Teriyaki sauce is really good.

Very warm and welcoming staff right from the entrance till the end of the service. Japanese seating style is the major highlight. You'd love the authenticity if you have a palate for Japanese food. Ambience suits perfectly well and the TV displaying only Japanese channels adds onto it. Altogether it was an 素晴らしいです experience.
One of the best authentic Japanese restaurant😋😋😋😋I was craving for some authentic Japanese ramen bowl and this place didn't disappoint me , they serve yummy ramen bowl and also I had mushroom with ginger soy sauce the taste was totally magical and everything was worth the price and I was little upset that they didn't have the matcha tea icecream which I was longing to try :( !!!! Definitely the best Japanese restaurant in town! Had an amazing time here a few weeks back with my friends and we really enjoyed everything we ordered! From the ramen set that comes with tempura,sticky rice and ramen to the best prawn tempura rolls I’ve ever had in my life, this place is most definitely worth the visit! The dessert we had was the fried ice cream which was really good as well! Keep up the good work. Will be back for sure!

It was in my wishlist to try japanese cuisine from this place for a very long time. As a first timer, I started with the maki sushi. To be honest, I could not enjoy the sushi as much as I wanted to. The filling of shitake mushrooms, sweet fish flakes, japanese omlette, crab and cucumbers were perfectly balanced, but what did not cater to my palette was the nori and the vinegared rice. As people say, it is an acquired taste. The traditional japanese seating area was the highlight of the restaurant, and the staff was courteous. Overall, Fuji is the most authentic place to try out japanese cuisine.
This place! Authentic seating and a very authentic experience. Loved the food because it tastes as it’s supposed to. Had the veg korokku set, a cabbage starter that I don’t remember the name of and the coffee jelly dessert. My friend tried the sushi set. The portions are small but filling for one person. The plating is elaborate and very attractive. Loved the experience. Quite expensive though.

Went to this place for dinner - sister, nieces(4 of us).
I have been to another Japanese restaurant in the city before and to me the difference was stark. The ambience and the quality and taste of food was fantastic. The service was simply superb (the attention given by my head waiter - Param - he took care of our every need and always had a bright smile and a warm presence about him. Very professional too). We had 4 different dishes - a maki salmon roll, fried rice with salmon, deep fried pork, chicken in teriyaki sauce. All of them were mouth wateringly tasty.
Will definitely be visit again
Came to fuji today after forever wanting to visit. Loved the modern and tradition infused environment. We finally decided on the buta katsu don, kaisen don and grilled eggplant. Buta katsu don was super delicious and stood out for me. I would suggest the addition of a few basic drinks like iced tea or lemonade in addition to the usual soft drinks selections. Cheers!

I love Japanese and this place has been on my radar for quite sometime. I went with high expectations and I was not disappointed. The food and the ambience are wonderful and the service is great. It was not, however, the best Japanese food I’ve tasted. However, a really good experience overall.

The hubby and I went to Fuji for our 6th year anniversary because we love Japanese food. We were glad we picked it for our special occasion, because everything was top notch. Expensive, yes but totally worth it when you are dying for some salmon sushi.....

we tried this place for the Sunday lunch and it turned out to be pleasant experience. we were greeted by the staff and were attended swiftly by Mr. Paramjeet Singh for our order. he explained the menu and the dishes and after understanding our preferences, suggested a Sushi lunch set menu and a salad. the food was quick to come by and it was just a perfect lunch with good Japanese food as we wanted it. Much thanks to Param for his exemplary service. Won't mind coming again.
One of the best Japanese places ive eaten at in chennai! All the food was beautifully plated, the ambiance was great and the food was delicious. The tempura rice bowl was accompanied by a special soy-based sauce that tasted amazing...and despite looking like a large amount, the food was not too heavy. I was able to eat the entire thing and feel comfortable afterwards. The worst feeling ever is when you eat too much and can't even get up. The quantities here were just right. Will be coming back.
The manager and staff were extremely polite inspite of the restaurant being very busy. The presentation of the food is very nice and tastes authentic. I would certainly recommend this restaurant if any of you would like to try Japanese cuisine.

Outstanding food. The sushi and sashimi are made very well and the fish is extremely fresh. The staff are polite and friendly and are happy to recommend dishes. Will visit again.
We went there for an early lunch. The service is really prompt and efficient. After taking the orders it took them just 10 mins to bring the food. The staff helped in choosing our sushi roll as we both are not too keen on raw fish. The prawn tempuras were very good so was the bowl of ramen. Only hitch was the chicken katsu curry which didn't seem too fresh and had the pre made taste to it. Overall it was a good experience.

Having heard a lot about Japanese cuisine, and how simple and healthy the dishes were, my expectations from Fuji were up to the brim as I walked into the place. A quiet, simply set restaurant on the main road, it’s very easy to spot. The staff are very friendly and the restaurant space echoes authentic Japanese style dining where you can choose to sit on cushions with the table just above your lap space. The staff are very patient and explain their menus elaborately for anyone who’s new to the idea of Japanese dining. Their culture of respecting food enough to allocate enough time to each meal, sit with a group of friends or family, and enjoy the meal while spending quality time really appealed to me.
Sake Maki - raw salmon roll sushi which totally blew me away. A must-try at this place, I would go further and say that it was one of the best I have ever tried. Gyu ninniku yaki - tenderloin cooked to perfection in the right sauce, ika no syougayaki - tasty grilled squid. Loved every dish. So glad I tried the place! Leaving as a very satisfied customer.

With the pending number of reviews standing at three digits, I shouldn't be doing this but some places are just too awesome that you gotta tell the world about it immediately after stepping out of it.
A friend and I had been eyeing the Fuji restaurant (Nandanam) for a long time and finally we got to try this place. With a serene ambience, the place offers regular seating as well as the Japanese style dining with low tables and mat flooring. Being Sushi fanatics, we ordered a plate of 7 kind of Nigiri. We also got Kushikatsu (fried tenderloin chunks in skewers), Yaki Udon (Buckwheat noodles with pork) and a plate of Salmon Sashimi.
The sushi plate was just too amazing for me to explain it in words. The rice was perfect and the fishes used were super fresh. I found the cuttlefish (I think) alone to be a bit harder to bite into. But along with a dash of wasabi and soya sauce for company, it wasn't unmanageable. It was so good that we wanted to try another plate of Sushi but they had run out of rice by then. So we opted for the Salmon Sashimi which was heavenly. The chunks were thick and they disappeared in no time. Kushikatsu was so good that it justified the word 'Kushi' it had in its name 😂. The beef pieces were super-soft and along with a sweet dip, it was delicious. The noodles was another feather to the crown as it was soothing and light on flavours, yet lip-smackingly good.
Service was prompt and if I had to nitpick a few cons, it would be the early closing time. They wrap up the show by 10 and the kitchen closes by late 9ish. We wanted to try octopus but they weren't available. They even ran out of Sushi rice which made us opt for the Sashimi but I can't complain about it considering how good it was. The complimentary t@ea could be a bit stronger too 😉. The above items cost us Rs. 3310.

Ambience - Amazing. I love the set up. Like all authentic Japanese restaurants, they have the traditional set up as well as individual booths. I love the booths as they are rather private...well, almost as 2 booths are set together which kinda ruin the privacy aspect as we had a rather loud bunch of chatty women beside us. The lighting is very soft and dim.
Food- These were the dishes we tried:
1. Nigiri Platter
2. Sushi Meal Tray
3. Salmon Uramaki
4. Japanese Fried Rice with Chicken
The Nigiri platter was super delicious. It had all the basics like sake/salmon,maguro/ tuna, ebi/prawn, tamago, yellowtail, cuttle fish and they had this lovely roasted salmon and some mackerel too. The only downside here is I prefer nigiri with a tiny strip of nori to hold it in place. But thats just a tiny preferance. Then came the crispy salmon Uramaki which was delicious. For some reason the uramaki platter did not have any wasabi at all alongside which was unsettling. But the sushi was good. Then we realised there was an entire Sushi Meal option in the menu which came in as a huge tray filled with a soup (I really dislike all Japanese soups and this one was no exception), a salad, 6 Maki rolls of which 3 were Tuna Maki and 3 were Vegetarian Maki rolls. There were few pieces of veg Tempura and 2 large Shrimp Tempura which were good. The veg bits lacked salt though and the dip was just too thin and sweet. Then we ordered a Japanese Fried Rice with Chicken which was was delicious. I loved my experiemce here as I am a big fan of Japanese food (except soups).
Service- Very good. Like Momoyama, this place has call bells so service is rather swift and the staff are good.
Pricing- Fair.3500 was our bill. But this time the taxes added to the bill was insane. Damn you GST 😭😲😠

I have a recommendation for the restaurant too. Since Gunkan is one of my favourite types of sushi, I'd love to see Fish Roe Gunkan (either flying fish or salmon) on the menu and more Uramakis and maybe even some Temaki....basically more variety in sushi. Probably some unagi(eel), octopus, scallops for more variety in fish.
Fuji is easily one of the best Japanese restaurants in Chennai. The service and ambience is great. Beautiful interiors with a quiet ambience. Nice for business as well as a fun lunch or dinner. My favs were the Sashimi and Sushi platters. Fresh fish!! The prawn tempura I can't get enough of! Wash it all down with a nice bottle of cold Sake. Highly recommend this place!

Excellent place with a fully japanese traditional decor and food. Felt like we entered a different country. The staff was very friendly patiently explaining the different food items and accomadated all our customisation requests. Did not expect to find such a jewel in our visit to Chennai (availability of sake is a huge plus)

We were looking for an Asian fine dining restaurant on Zomato and stumbled upon this gem. I was particularly interested in finding a restaurant that was quiet and peaceful, so this was a very opportune choice.
The ambience is like what one would imagine a Japanese restaurant to be, quiet and peaceful. They have the option of sitting at the typically Japanese low tables with cushions placed on the floor, or one could sit at one of the regular tables in an alcove.
You start your meal with a cup of steaming hot green tea, which was quite a nice touch.
We had a glass of Shochu (a sake based mixed drink) andsmall bottle of Nihonshu (a kind of Sake), both quite nice.
For our meal, we ordered two kinds of sushi (Prawn Tempura and Raw Tuna) which come with 6 pieces each. We also had a plate of Crumb fried Beef tenderloin and a Shredded pork and Bamboo shoot in@ Oyster sauce.
Having never been to Japan myself, not eaten food cooked by a Japanese person, I can't comment on the authenticity of the food, but it was really tasty. We were warned by our server that the sushi rice, being of a new batch, was a little extra sticky and so may not be to our liking, but it didn't really affect the taste of the sushi.
The portion sizes are neither too small nor too large, though having overestimated our appetites, we were left feeling a little stuffed by the end of it all.
If you're looking for a unique place to go out, whether for an occasion or simply to experiment, do try Fuji. Bear in mind that it is a bit of a pinch on the wallet though, with our bill coming to 3500 for two people.

Truly authentic. I've had the good fortune of having eaten Korean & Japanese cuisine in their respective countries, so I was amazed at the authenticity of the food I had at Fuji. The service is truly Japanese -- impeccable, courteous, and punctual. Great value for money too. The prawn sushi was out of world experience, felt so good, definitely a must try. They also had sake, both were awesome together. Few other dishes were also good but sake + prawn sushi is a must.
The prices were a little high but we got good food. The restaurant was mix of modern and traditional japanese architecture.
The food is outstanding...The maki especially! The place is nice and quiet.. the ambience is very good.. Overall an amazing Japanese restaurant !!
Few days back my visit to this outlet made me to recollect my memories of Japan trip. It was nice spending time with my Japanese boss and desi colleagues. The taste were as good as exactly what we get in Japan.
Great light lunch. Went with a friend of mine. I am vegetarian and ordered the tempura vegetables sushi roll, deep fried tofu ( prepared for dinner, but our server, Param, got it specially for me). My friend ordered a ra-men lunch set which was delicious as well. We got complimentary desserts at the end! Vanilla ice cream with chocolate sauce, providing us respite and the energy to go back into the Chennai sun. Great ambience. Most guests are Japanese, and you can only hear indistinct conversations and the sound of the cutlery, making for the perfect personal lunch.

Their Delhi outlet serves alcohol and has more vegetarian options. Fuji, Chennai having more number of tables should add a few more vegetarian dishes, keeping in mind that this is a state where even nom-vegetarians enjoy a good vegetarian meal.

So this happens to be my first visit to a Japanese cuisine. We wanted to try out sushi, and my friend suggested to try out the most authentic Japanese place in town, Fuji!
I was amazed the moment I entered, because the whole atmosphere changes the minute you step inside restaurant.
Beautiful ambiance! I've never seen anything quite like it. Has a blend of luxury, privacy and communal seating. The waiters don't hover at your table, but instead, you have buzzers attached to the table, that you can use to request them to come in.
Firstly they serve Tea and that sets the mood for the cuisine. Since I had apprehension for trying out sushi, I let my friend order it as he was aware of the menu and knew exactly what a newbie would like.
My listed out dishes could be wrong from the menu, so I'll definitely correct them soon. All the items that we tried were amazing! No complaints at all. So thumbs up👍🏻👍🏻.
The items we tried were:
•Kappa Maki. This was a simple cucumber roll. Started of with vegetarian to set the pallet.
•Tori Teriyaki Maki. This was a chicken sushi roll with wasabi.
•Salmon Fry Maki. Since I had a little apprehension to raw meat, this had fried salmon instead.
•Chicken Katsu. This was brilliantly crisp chicken cutlet. The sauces they give added an additional flavor.
•Teriyaki Chicken and Chicken Pepper: these were boneless chicken pieces cooked in Teriyaki sauce and another pepper sauce. Absolutely loved it.
I cannot wait to come again! One of the best experiences of my life. Is it value for money? Totally. It's affordable and not too fancifully priced.

The place is filled with patrons from the orient. Many a times I was the only desi in the restaurant. The quality of food served is consistent and the service is very unobtrusive. Easily the best place to enjoy Japanese cuisine outside of the 5 star ones in Chennai.
Excellent salmon sashimi! Was super happy with this place - quick service, great food. Everything that we ordered was very good. I'd definitely go back.
Had a fantastic experience at this place. The food and service was outstanding (special mention to Param). The ambience was very simple and elegantly set up. We were given a booth but tried the traditional Japanese style seating which was more than comfortable. We ordered the miso soup followed with sushi platter and a few nigiri items (salmon, tuna, snapper) and wanted to try the yakitori 3pcs which was the only item i felt was a bit bland. The rest was simply superb and main course we ordered Buta don which was yummy!! Great place for sushi lovers and very courteous staff. The place is kept spick and span which is the most important aspect for me.

The most calm and peaceful ambience!! One must go to enjoy a Japanese food and custom!! The food is served with a chopstick and the ppl over thr teach you how to use tat also!! New experience!! But food was like ok, cos it lacks in salt n spice!! Being a south Indian, I prefer to have a bit spice in my dish!! 😊😊
We had a rather good time at Fuji, dining in true Japanese style. We have had better Japanese food but it definitely didn't disappoint. Japanese food is so much more than sushi and sashimi and I am glad we have a few cropping up in the city to show us that. Very courteous staff but service got rather slow. They close pretty early, so make sure to go early. The Restaurant is expensive, that is a given I guess, considering most ingredients are imported. Look forward to the Japanese way.
Authentic Japanese food made with the best of ingredients! The chef is from Japan and the decor is truly authentic with private dining rooms and authentic Japanese seating on tatami mats all the way from the land of the rising sun.
The food was great the service was quite good. The dining was nice and comfortable and the atmosphere in the restaurant was nice as well. The quality of all the food was exceptional and I really enjoyed it here! The waiters were very patient and good spirited. Overall I really enjoyed my time here !

Authentic japanese restaurant. If you have no idea of what is japanese food, then don't go to this restaurant. But if you know about the japanese food, it is worth it.
My second time here, and I'm not disappointed. Standards are still good, ambience, service, cleanliness, no complaints. This time we ordered:
7 kinds of Nigiri
Salmon fry roll
Ebi tempura
Tonkatsu
Niku Udon
Washed down with lots of tea. Japanese fine dining is in a class of its own, so don't come here if you are looking for a cheap meal. I've eaten all over the world and this type of food is at a premium. And it's worth it, provided the ingredients are super fresh, and the chefs know what they are doing. And Fuji does a creditable job, in Chennai.
Went over for a vegetarian dinner and came away quite impressed and happy. We got a reasonable variety but all were very tasty and quite authentic. Non veg options are a lot.
Would definitely head back. Neat interiors.
They make good sushi, been trying to get my wife to eat Sushi, got her to get it today and she actually really liked it. To please a choosy eater they got all the elements right. The beef with burnt garlic in soy sauce was awesome, the salmon sashimi was fresh and the tuna and prawn rolls are really well made, bite size and well prepared. Was a bit pricey, compared to the US (comment made by a cousin visiting from there) but then again it was good food.

As an American living in Chennai who has spent a fair amount of time in Japan, I all too often feel that insatiable desire for sushi. Not the Teppan, Momoyama or Sushi-in-a-Box "sushi", which, while edible and has its own merit, is not the real deal. For sushi lovers looking for the real deal, this is the only place to go in Chennai. The owner and I often converse in Japanese (a Japanese owner is another sign that the food is authentic!), and I come all too often. The price may seem high at first, especially considering the quantity provided (Japanese portion sizes!) but once the extreme cost of imported ingredients is considered, it becomes clear that their prices are justified.
Having been many times since the opening at the end of last year, I've noticed remarkable improvements in their food; their sushi rice has changed to a shorter and thicker grain, and their fish has gotten fresher. The shape of the nigiri has also improved, and the wasabi has gotten spicier. All of these are welcome changes, and every bite of sushi reminds me of my time in Japan. Japanese and Korean expatriates are frequent customers, the staff is extremely courteous, and the food, particularly the sashimi and nigiri, is phenomenal. This place is a must-visit for anyone craving Japanese food in Chennai.

Lovely Japanese joint with good food and a nice ambience. Service is excellent and the place is well appointed. Parking might be an issue as the place gets busy and there was no valet parking service during our visit.

The fish was really fresh for the sushi and the spicy miso soup ramen just great, I expected the egg on the ramen to be half boiled but it was boiled completely, only flaw I could find on the food.
If you are a Japanese cuisine lover, I would definitely recommend this place.
Good food but not quite as good as Dhalia in Nugambakam. The taste was a little bland. Chicken yakitori was tasteless, need more salt. The vegetable tempura was nice but again the rice was bland. The place is nicely decorated. Recently came back and menu has improved with many more choices
For being vegetarians, we had quite a good number of dishes on offer. Soothing ambiance, good service and not too exorbitant prices. Will definitely visit again.

Great quality and tasty food. Bit costly but worth it. Car park is available but limited. The photographs should be sufficient evidence how good the food is. Will definitely be coming back for more.
It's nice to have another nearly authentic Japanese dining experience in Chennai, complete with sunken table seating and beautiful decor. Their menu is exhaustive enough but something is definitely missing when the food arrives. All the pork dishes we tried were excellent, but apart from that neither the sushi (both nagiri and maki) was standout nor the miso soup (flavorless). Dahlia is definitely still the better Japanese place to eat. But Fuji makes an attempt that deserves at least one try.

It was a great culinary experience. Tried Sushi for the first time. I ordered salmon sushi. It was so fresh and just awesome. Ginger pork and sticky rice went very well. Miso soup was one of the best. For the best Sushi and Sashimi exp. Fuji is ur one stop place.
