Was in the city & wanted to try something in north Indian cuisine & not at the usual places - was recommended to visit this place. Entrance to place was ............ walked in and got a place to sit.
Staff was polite and prompt in getting the menu and recommended some dishes as per our requirements.
Food was given in good time and was tasty. Service is good. Portion of the food is comfortable for 2 people.
You must ask for a bottle of White Beer 😊
If you want to eat good food, this place is totally worth it.
This rating of this place is good enough to understand the food quality - so try it out, you won’t be disappointed.
This review is based on home delivery.
So coming directly to food. To start off, tomato soup was one of the best I have tasted. Paneer tikka was soft and tender but little on spicier side. Rotis were perfect and went well with cheese kofta. The drawback was cheese kofta was it is too much of cheese that I couldn't take it. Veg hakka noodles was on oily side.
I wud definitely order again for their roti n subji.
Also it's worth the price. Items are aptly priced.
One of The Best Place For Vegetarian Food ! ❤️
My Favourite Place 👍👍👍👍✨✨✨
Taste of palak paneer was very good. but very tiny pieces of stone were there.
Ordered take out from swiggy , had dhania roti, veg patiala and vegetable fried rice, the roti was classic very soft, the curry was very nice it had masala pappad on as a topping !! and fried rice was very nice
overall a lovely meal
Went for a friend's birthday treat as a group of 8 on a Saturday for lunch. The place was crowded yet we got our seats quite quickly.
We ordered
hot Nd sour soup, sweet corn mushroom soup both lacked some punch so we had to add salt pepper Nd chutney to make them appealing
Cheese corn balls, chilly baby corn and gobi Manchurians were great and finished within a blink of eye
For mains we had veg tawa pulav, chilli garlic fried rice, malai kofta, panner butter masala, cheese garlic kulcha, tandoor roti, butter naan they all tasted good with the kofta being top of them all
It was really pocket friendly and being a non vegetarian lover I liked the food very much
Food 4/5
Service 3.5/5
Look and feel 2.5/5
Have visited this place with family around 4 times. Be it masala pappad, chaas or raabdi; are quite good. Very crowded on weekend and holidays. They need to work on their ambience. And it will be better if they stop serving chaas in plastic bottles and opt for glass or stainless steel jars.

Went yesterday with a group of 12 people. Was very much crowded being a weekend. Had to wait for 1 hr to get a seat.
Ambience nothing great but ok. A bit congested I would say.
Service quick
Pricing very much value for money
Food.
Ordered cheese corn balls, chilly babycorn, chilli paneer, butter nan, paneer masala, malai kofta, kaju curry masala, masala papad, paan ice cream, chocolate icecream.
All tasted good.
By far one of the best place in chennai to have good North Indian food. Prices are also moderate. Can improve the ambience a little bit otherwise perfect place to try good north Indian food.
Been here lot of times with family and friends.
Ambience - restaurant type with Bollywood music playing . Had to request them to lower it many times. 3
Service - is perfect except on weekends where they have rush . 3.5
Food - love masala papad , Manchurian in starters . In main course like paneer butter masala and kofta with garlic naan and masala kulfa . And if u r here , do try masala lassi. 3.5
Vfm - 3.5 . Good place for veggie lovers
Great hidden gem in Chennai. Some how locate the place and enjoy the great taste at reasonable prices. Building is bit old but they are able to maintain the quality. A must visit in Chennai. Friendly and busy staff.
This place has been my fav food out destination with my veg buddies.
Starting from their masala papad and ending it with lassi, the whole of food journey at this place is great!
I usually head to this place with a gang of 10 and accordingly service is good and quick.
Veg lovers will surly love this place.

I had come here around 2007-2008 on my birthday and it was 25 of us. The food was brilliant and their buttermilk is out of the world. The food is incomplete without their buttermilk (Chaach)! Love their paneer tikka - the paneer is really soft. The food is also amazing with great service.
Went to this place after quite a long time. But I was happy to see that nothing has changed. Good food and a vast variety is still available. Had soup, starter and main course. All were superb good. Service is quick and courteous. One should be careful for waiting time as the place is full on weekends. But worth a wait for the good food they offer. Was happy and still happy..

PARWANIS BOMBAY HALWA HOUSE (Strictly Vegetarian ) on Poonamalee high road just opp to Breeze hotel.
This is the place we frequently visit. Planned to visit again for a birthday dinner.
Usually we order Sweet Corn Veg but on my son's choice it was Cream of Vegetable soup. The soup tasted good but veggies were less and cream was more. When you visit this lace please do not forget to ask for KHICHIA (forgive my spelling) which is a median of masala papad and Exhibition famous Delhi masala appalam. If you ask fora fried one there is a generous sprinkle of ghee on it. I said Masala Khichia and he brought a roasted one with onion, tomato and chilly powder toppings. To spice it up pour a spoon of green chutney on top and you would feel the taste buds singing "Nach balliye"
While starters were getting ready we prepared the onion salad on the table which tasted yummy. No credits for mixing lime, salt and pepper. Just enjoy t with green chutney.
For starters we usually select babycorn and wanted to break the routine and ordered DRAGON PANNEER. Imagined that we would have tears rolling down our eyes when the waiter said "Perfect Saab". But what came was long strips of chilly panneer (about 3 fingers in size) in manchurian style with no soya sauce on a bowl which looked like a squeezed trapezoid. It had raw cashews on it. Do chinese use cashews? who cares. come on lets start working. After pulling 1 to 2 fingers for each we found all garnishing like onion, capsigum had settled in the bottom. I owe it to the shape of the bowl. Nothing serious moving on
Main course was the following : 2 Rotis (never tried it here and I thanked me for not ordering it before). It was a bit hard and okayish. The people in the adjacent table had a wrestling session with Roti to be smashed into pieces before it got swallowed.
Along with Roti was a plain Kulcha, Aloo Paratha (with pickle) and a butter Naan. Nothing to complain. The gravy was Veg Kohlapuri per waiter's choice and it really went well with all breads.
We are almost done when we wanted to get the Punjabi feel. Change Music to "Punjabi Munde". A full botte of chas aka buttermilk. It was 3.5 glass full and we 3 shared it unequally :)
And the drums roll for the end credits and the waiter graciously presents a bill for 1111 and my card does the payment.
Now for Behind the scenes. While I was leaving I was concerned that the buttermilk was served in plastic bottle and asked them not to use plastic bottles and use glass bottle ( I have seen them use glass bottle earlier) the captain told that it is not used water bottle but pet bottles specifically ordered in bulk quantities and the bottles get disposed after a single use. He even showed me heap of new pet bottles stocked in front of the hotel and the scene ends there.
excellent food n good service favourite hotel for kids whenever i went i m satisfied with their quality and service if u want quality u have to wait
After going to abirami mall (first time with my parents) we were looking out for pure veg hotel(my parents are strict about it) and this came out in the nearby and it had north Indian which made my mom say yes!!
We had a whole what a lovely dinner from soups-manchow and vegetable
starters- most were paneer..THEY WERE AWESOME
main course- naan n paneer dishes again
we loved it.
we left with happy tummy :) my mom loved it :D
Excellent vegetarian food, nominal price, Gud paneer quality. Need to wait for sometime to get space but definitely worth the wait. Restrooms are bad.
A good place for vegetarian food. I tired only their paneer tikka. The paneer were tender and cooked to perfection no complains. Will visit here again for more.
The food was good, no doubt. I've been going there for years now. But, the service has drastically reduced in terms of quality, timing and politeness. I was taken aback by the sheer "chalta hai" attitude. Plates weren't clean, on that complain we get an explanation rather than a general apology. We make the mistake of asking the difference between normal lassi and the special variant and the waiter just tries real hard to convince me to order the special one to a point of irritation.
Excellent place to have some yummy north indian food. I have been there on numerous occasions and never left the place with disappointment.. Food is always served hot.. Any dish u pick it will taste good.. But people who r health conscious watch out coz they add generous amount of fatties be it oil or ghee or vanaspati.. Apart from tht its an awesome place to enjoy some good quality food at an affordable price.
By far one of the best north Indian pure veg restaurant in the city.
The Good:
1. I like their butter milk. It comes in a 1 litre plastic bottle.
2. I love their starters preferable Gobi Manchurian and Masala Papad.
3. Every thing about this place is super perfect.
The bad:
1. Ambiance is now a little old for this place.
2. Please avoid going on Sundays, they screw up big time..
It's the place i go most often to. The food is extremely tasty especially north Indian food. Chinese is average as it has a little Punjabi taste to it. Buttermilk, kulcha's are extremely good here. Its pretty economical hotel worth every penny spent. Must try!!
Why Bombay Halwa House : If you're going all vegan and want typical North Indian food, as the name implies, this one is the best indeed.
Food served : We ordered Cheese Naan, Butter Naan, Cheese Garlic Naan and Roti. We planned to go all bread for dinner and ended up ordering all types of Naans. Our side dishes included Paneer Butter Masala and Kadai Mushroom as we weren't familiar with any other dishes on the menu and didn't feel like taking any chances. The Cheese Naan was good but it was too filling. We couldn't take more than 3 mouthfuls and felt the Naan's cheesiness went a little overboard. The Garlic Naan was okay, though I didn't prefer this one. The butter Naan was excellent . This place showed us exactly how Naans should be made. South Indian restaurants obviously weren't aware of the kind of consistency that the Naans should hold, and sometimes they'd turn out pretty rubbery. But here in BHH, the Naans were scrumptious. It would have been better if they went a little easy on the cheese. The paneer was soft and tender and melted in our mouths in a jiffy. The paneer butter masala on the whole was a great combination. We ordered Veg Pulao . The Veg pulao was a turn off. It wasn't good at all. I guess this one was an upsetting dish. The tandoori roti was just okay. It was like pappad though and kind of regretting ordering this one. The Kadai mushroom was splendid. We wiped the Kadai clean. Only the veg pulao and the roti should have been a little more better. As long as you're familiar with the taste and style of North Indian food, and you're in the hunt for a good restaurant that knows how to do things right, then your search ends here at BHH.
Service : The servers are all North Indian. It seemed pretty obvious but the drawback was that they could hardly understand what we were trying to say. There should be waiters who know both Hindi and English or Hindi and Tamil. Especially at a place like Chennai. So this was kind of disappointing for us. Apart from this part, the waiter was pretty jovial and our food was served on time and they never kept us waiting.
Luv dis restaurant frm ny childhood.excellent place to have tandoori..buttermilk they serve s xtremely gud...i strtd luvin buttermilk frm here..
I frequent this restaurant to satisfy my cravings for traditional North Indian delicacies. The paneer tikka- regular, hariyali and achaari, hara bhara kebab and manchurian are scrumptious. So is their signature methi malai corn. I also loved their paneer butter masala, until the last time when they served it with little countable cubes of paneer and unlimited chunks of tomatoes. It was the first time that I had such a dish that was more like 'tomato butter masala'. Though after a couple of complaints they got us an extra serving of the side dish, the experience was extremely disappointing.
We had been to this place on a Sunday evening with the entire family. Initially, one person from the restaurant told we would get a table in 30 minutes. But , it gradually kept on increasing and we were waiting, waiting and waiting for our turn. Finally, We had to wait for 1.5 hours as there was so much of crowd and we finally managed a place.
Coming to the restaurant , it was so messy and the floor was littered with food and tissues here and there. It would have been great if cleanliness was maintained as it would have helped for a better ambience. The interiors of the restaurant was good.
The service was very quick and efficient and it needs to be appreciated. Food wise, both starters and the main course was delicious and it was yummy. The paneer tikka was superb.
My favourite here is the Kulfi Falooda and I made sure that I don't miss that. It was so tasty and one should never miss that here.
Would definitely visit this place again in future , hoping that I need not wait so much. :)
The Green Chutney makes the foam of the milkshake. As far as food is concerned, every dish is made So delicious so as to make you lick every left part of the bowl. A very good place if you are a Jain. One star reduced because of the lack of innovation and lack of bringing out new dishes over the years.
One of the best restaurants in chennai if you are looking for some great north indian food, the experience from the time you enter to the time you leave is excellent, the staff is very friendly and the food is very great. The staff makes you feel at home and the service is top notch.
Regular @ BHH...one of the best veg Punjabi food u wud have in Chennai...1) must try: khichiya with chutney ( I know a few ppl u go for that chutney only) 2) paneer tikka n kasturi paneer tikka...3) veg biriyani / schezwan fried rice..4) roti sabzi - t usual t best..and most other items on the menu won't let u down..finally the bottle of chaas ( buttermilk ) will make ur meal complete..else u can try gulab jamun or the famous paan ice cream . If u r hungry and don't wanna risk on a new place, Bombay Halwa House is the place to be.
Regular customer @ BHH's
Food at times served is brilliant but when its crowded just eat what you get thats like ok ok....dont know whats that compromise for either kitchen shortage or unable to cope up with crowd....
To try items for sure is Blackdal with jeera rice, cheese garlic naan, paneer handi and last but kulfi is best served here....
Confused to rate so just 3.5
One of the best places for asili Punjabi khana.
Location - 4.5 out of 5
Easily locatable, as it is on the main road and in one of the highly northy populated area.
Ambience - 4 out of 5.
I gave 4 out of 5 for the ambience as it becomes too stuffy and crowdy during the Sundays and major festival days.
Food: 4.5/5
For the starters, paneer tikka and cheese balls are a must try.
In breads area the masala kulcha is the best. In the subzi area all the paneer subzis are excellent.
In the dessert falooda icecream and rabdi are a must. Also if you love the desi beer, that is the lassi then you have to order it along with your food.
Overall its value for money and a wonderful place for Punjabi food.
One of the famous north Indian restaurant in Chennai. Any north Indian dish you name it .. You can find it in the menu card. Ambience is very good but we should wait to get a table especially on weekends.
Tried chilli mushroom, crispy veg, kadai panneer, dum biriyani .. Taste is very authentic. Only difficulty is choosing the starter .. Because you have so many in the menu.
Service is pretty good and we ended the dinner by falooda . Buhari falooda was my favorite.. Now this falooda also goes to my favorite list.
Must visit for those who wanted to taste authentic north Indian dishes.
Went to this restaurant to try out chilly baby corn, which was suggested by one of my friend... This is a pure veg restaurant...
We ordered tandoori paneer tikka and chilly baby corn, both the items were awesome, and out of the world.... we like so much that we ordered again....
In main course we tried sarson ka sag and makki roti.... Both complimented each other.... In papads, we were suggested to take kichia, which is just like papad but a different kind.... which was good....
And also both lassi and butter milk were just super cool..... butter milk they give in 1 liter bottle also, coz that only will quench our thirst :)
Avoid weekend as its heavily crowded....
and ambiance is kinda ok ok...
Surely will visit this place one more time.....
Best place for sumptuous food paan ice cream chaas masala khichas & malai mathi aalo remain my top fav rated dishes paneer lovers hav good choices. Me not being one also have gr8 choices . If u dont want a silent place then u would not mind goin to this place. Take out & home delivery are also a gr8 option on weekends
Its Sunday ,! Yet had to wait for half an hour!! It was worth waiting !:-) sumptuous food ! Paneer was just awesome!! Everything served was hot despite over crowding, quick service, from appetizer to dessert it was just yumm!!! Burrppped it!
Brilliant Tandoori khaana in Chennai.. At par with any restaurants up north. Must try all the paneer dishes. Totally worth it. Very pocket friendly also. Can easily give it 5*
Got take away from Parwani's Bombay halwa house last night.. Got the parcel in 10mins..
Got paneer tikka -extremely soft n perfectly spiced, crispy chilly baby corn - tasty but felt the quantity was less and spl sum briyani - didn't taste of any smokey flavour but as a briyani tasted good...
Onion salad n raitha was served along..
Billed for Rs.505.. but was charged Rs.15 for takeaway..
Total VFM
Be here if you want food to be served in express speed. But also be ready to eat soon as your main course will arrive two mins after your starters
The Bombay Halwa House at Ponnamallee is possibly the most consistent restaurant in delivering quality food. The Indian breads are something to die for. You can find it full even on weekdays sometimes. The Jains prefer this restaurant more. The prices may be a little costly but they are definitely worth it. Be an early bird on Weekends. Have a light food in noon and RUSH here in the evening.
Must try : Khichiya with Chatni, Paneer Butter Masala and Dal Makhani, Veg Pulao, Pan Ice Cream.
This one restaurant I've seen grown rapidly since my childhood. Second generation entrepreneurs have come over and taken control & management of the hotel. Exclusive Punjabi, Sindhi vegetarian family restaurant. The masala khichiya, 'beer' bottle (butter milk chilled) and Paneer are top notch. The go to restaurant for a middle class healthy eating family.
Authentic North Indian offering comes from BHH, with a comfortable ambience and tasty food. Tastewise / Decor wise / Areawise - it fits the bill ( pun -intended) perfectly.
But there are 2 things this restaurant should reconsider:
1 - is the Quanitity - which is consistently shrinking. (Regulars are disappointed with it)
2 - Non - Ice-cream desserts should have more to offer.
Parwani's Bombay Halwa house has improved over the years in terms of food & floor! I visited this restaurant after a year's gap and I was amazed by how they have tried to improvize their standards. Food is decent, restaurant is now air-conditioned and prices are slightly more expensive than before rather than completely blowing it up. North-Indian food!! Roti, sabzi, Naan & all other north-indian delicacies are wonderfully served here. Parking has now improved. Staffs are better now. Ambience has improved. A positive transformation in all aspects. I used to visit this place with friends but now I consider bringing my family too! They have done good with their available floor space and all other amenities are also fine. Visit it once if possible! Definitely worth the taste!
One of the finest places for excellent vegetarian food that stays in your minds for quite a while after the visit. As the old saying goes if an eatery can bring unique taste into the Rotis and Rice they can obviously do a good job in other dishes as well. This place is a good example for such an effort.
Great place I m very satisfied wit d food they serve
Aweaome place for Indian Food. Ordered 2 dal makhsni, 1 panner do pyaza, 1 vegetabl kolhapuri, 6 tandoori roti, 3 garlic naan, 1 jeera rice, 2 pepsi (500 ml), 1 lime soda and finally 3 pan ice cream. To my surprise the cost was only Rs. 1615 for 6 people.
MUST TRY :
1. MASALA PAPAD
2. GARLIC NAAN
3. DAL MAKHANI
4. PAN ICE CREAM,
To my surprise, the service was very good even when the hotel was full with people already waiting outside even at 10:30 P.M.
The waiters and other staff including the manager was very cordial and helpful. 5/5 for the overall experience
Best paneer food in Chennai! heaven for Butter Lovers. i guess they just dip the roti :)) instead of applying it on top! LOL
Hot food, serving is fast, value for money.
Try any paneer stuff! its Awesome..
Very Good Place For North Indian Food Just You Have To Instruct Them Not To Get It Too Oily Ambience Is Very Average And The Place Needs A Complete Overhaul Quick Service
First time here. The hotel is not conspicuous from the main road. Only a cola advertising board with the hotel name written in small letters. Also, one has to walk thru a driveway of sorts from the main gate to find the hotel inside the compound. Place is still not ready for customers at 12PM on a Sunday afternoon. Interiors need major overhauling. Still has a 90's hangover with dull yellow lighting.
Menu is VAST and is a complete Punjabi fare. Lots of veg subzi options. Prices are quite reasonable. I rub my hands in glee. :) I order Stuff Paneer Tikka, Kashmiri Pulav and Pepsi. Wasn't the hungriest afternoon for me.Stuff Paneer Tikka is melt-in-your-mouth soft and succulent and tandoor fried to perfection. The size of paneer cubes is huge too. so far so awesome.
Kashmiri pulav arrives and how! had to wait about 20 mins for it and by the time it was ready, more than half the hotel is full. Lots of Sindhi families seem to frequent this place. Now back to the pulav. Its a fully loaded one, complete with tonnes of cashew and raisins in addition to the fruits. There were a few paneer chunks too. Rice not too sticky nor too raw. Just right!
If you crave for Punjabi dishes someday don't settle for any other restaurant but this. The quality of the food coupled with affordable prices will leave you smiling for a day at least.
Must go frequently.Staters are mind blowing especially the dragon paneer, baby corn pakoda,Khicha with butter milk(we call it beer).Main course will be decent.Firstly handi paneer,Malai methi,Stuff Tomato, masala kulcha are good.Service is fast and good.
Have youe ever heard of Pan-Ice-cream in Chennai?? Nooo???
Just try out this place for amazing Punjabi Veg. Food.
The service is too Excellant. You can find rush during weekends so maintain the Gap between eating & waiting before your tummy starve.
I used to travel 25kms (each side) to reach this place to have good dinner option.
Authentic Punjabi vegetarian food at its best. The panneer dishes are one of the best. Its so soft and well marinated. The butter milk or chaas is excellent. I have visited this place many times mostly for lunch and i have always been happy. They have thali for lunch which is quite tasty and filling. The ambiance is simple and service is quick. If you want to go for dinner especially on weekends the waiting period for a table is quite long. Must try place.
