Dropped in for their onam sadya. Every single dish was cooked to perfection. The payasam was heavenly. A little pricey though. It was very clean as well so hopefully I don't catch anything :)
We accidentally landed to Savya Rasa, instead of going to Soy Soi!
From the entry point, we were amazed at the courteous welcome. Still wondering why everyone were wearing Saree and Dhothi in a Korean/Pan-Asian restaurant.
We were placed at a beautifully decorated table, with plantain leaves! Still, it did not hit our mind that "we at the wrong place"!
When we received the Menu book... it struck us hard.
Since we liked the ambiance and staff, we stayed to experience what life had to offer!
We had Non-Veg Thali! It was DELICIOUS. One of the BEST!
I love authentic south indian food since my trip to kerala and i found out about savya rasa from Facebook.
I had Pudalakkaya perugu pachadi. This pachadi made of snake gourd and yoghurt tempered with mustard and red chillies.
It's really amazing.
Appam, Malabar Parrotta, pappadam is must with all the dishes.
In starters I had Ulli vadai. Anjal Rava fry. All are lip-smacking.
Now move to main course I had vellai Kurma, Korai Gassi.
Simply worth going to this amazing place.
Been wanting to go here for the longest time and finally had the chance to visit for their Millet food festival. If you are looking out for having tasty but healthy food, this is a must place to try!
Located in the same building as Soy Soi, they've outdone the ambience. They bring us the four different south Indian cuisines and so the interiors are very traditional and aesthetically done. With warm lights and comfortable seating, you'll have a wonderful dining experience here.
What we tried,
Drinks - Nannari sharbath, was a bit too sweet for my taste but they immediately changed it when I suggested.
Tender coconut with honey, with chunks of coconut, tasted very refreshing.
Starters - Yeral varuval, big prawns fried with golden crumbs. It was very delicious.
Kurumilagu karuveppilai meen, this was vanjaram fry with curry leaves. Though the taste was good it had the raw fish smell.
Mains - Saamai chicken biryani, made with millet rice was good. I felt the taste to be enhanced when had with the chicken kozhambu.
Naatu kozhi kolambu, this was outstanding. A must-try dish. It was so flavorful and the chicken was cooked to perfection.
Kambu dosa, with chopped onions and peppers and served with three different types of chutney. Another delicacy, but could have been crispy as i like my dosas that way.
Raagi roti, a thick roti made with ragi, didn't expect this will taste so good. Another must-try. and was super filling.
Dessert - Paruthi paal halwa, drenched with ghee and made with all-natural ingredients, stole the show. If you're a sweet tooth person, blindly order this one.
Their service was really good. They patiently attended to all our needs and got our feedback on everything.
Their pricing was a bit on the higher side, but worth the quality and quantity provided.
Went here for their Millet food festival and really enjoyed a sumptuous healthy meal for dinner. They served us with a basket of fryums and for refreshments gave us nannari sharbath and tender coconut with honey. The sharbath was a bit sweet for us but the tender coconut was quite good. For soup, we ordered mutton NENJUELAMBU soup. This was outstanding. So good. Spicy and soothing. For starters, we got, KURUMILAGU KARUVEPPILAI MEEN. This was seer fish. Favor was good but the fish smell was overwhelming. YERAL varuval, must try. Tasted really really good.For.mains, we had chicken millet biryani. Was different but a bit bland for our taste.Naatu KOZHI kolambu, another must try. Spicy and so yum. Anything we had along with this curry was a hit.KAMBU Dosa, with onions and pepper tasted good. Came along with three chutneys.Rafi roti, another one I was really impressed with. Not a fan of ragi but this tasted yum. And filling. Finished it off with PARUTHI PAAL halwa. Was floating with ghee and less sweet cause they don't any processed food in this. Another must try.Service was impeccable. Pricing is a bit high.Bon appetite :)
Good food We enjoyed delicious food
Service be friendly staff
Overall Experience good
Nice ambience, quick service, big surprise every time food came to the table - it just looked so awesome and tasted even better! Highly recommended.
Very courteous staff...Neatly laid out tables and beautiful ambiance . There is authenticty in every food you try out here. Loved the food .A must visit place in Chennai
The ambiance is good and service is very efficient. Don't expect anything fancy with the ambiance - it's got just what it needs. If you are looking for proper south Indian food, this is the place to go! Starting from the desserts every dish was authentic and super delicious. The service is amazing and very well behaved staff, flawless service and quick serving of the food, what else do you need?
One should not go to savya Rasa with friends and family because they distract you from the food. Take my word, just get there for a lunch or dinner ALONE and experience the near perfect flavours of South Indian cuisine. The menu is curated on Mangalore, Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Andhra dishes. Though I have seen a lot of such menus, savya Rasa's was surely a memorable one.
We got a complimentary drink which was warm to touch but completely took us by surprise. It was tangy and tasty. For starters we had beef ularthiyathu and chicken Mangalore style - both were lipsmacking and had the right amount of spices and masalas. The bun parottas were addictive...next time I'm only going to order that one. The gravy and mutton biriyani was flavourful and tasty. We ended the meal with elaneer payasam but I thought the coconut pieces were a bit too hard. The black bean halwa wasntasty but too small for the price charged.
That brings me to the cost of the meal. I think the portion size could be increased for a better dining experience. And the presentation of the food could be better. But the service was superlative and personal. We were very happy with our meal. 5/5 for taste of food and service. 4/5 for value for money.
Authentic delicious food from different regions of southern India. The ambience is amazing and the service staff is courteous. They are prompt and accommodate your requests. We had bun parotta, mutton sukka, fish fry, mutton ishtew, appam and elneer payasam. Everything was delicious and totally worth it. Visited again the next week and tried few vegetarian dishes. Those were equally yummy. Will be a frequent patron at this place. Love it!
Too good ambience and loved the the way they served.bit too expensive but we can try for there taste..
If you are looking for proper south indian food, this is the place to go! Starting from the soups to the desserts every dish was authentic and super delicious. We had the murangai rasam and it was super spicy and was so nice for the throat. For starters i tried the urulai fry and the mushroom Varuval, both the dishes were super tasty! The mushroom Varuval is a must try dish! For main course i tried the Kalan dosai, the portion seemed a little less but it was super filling. The dosa was topped with mushroom 😍 And then finally for desserts i tried the elaneer payasam and elanner pudding, both these were super tasty! Would definitely go back again!
If you are a foodie and can spend decent amount at a place which has a pretty decent ambience then this is the place to visit. It was my first time in Chennai and I wanted to have the local stuff. We ordered vanjaram tawa fish fry which was too good , cheetinadu kozhi was worth the visit .
Coast Food festival where you can relish the unique flavours exclusive to the coastal regions of South India. Coastal Food festival happening at Savya Rasa located in kotturpuram (chitra nagar) This is the first food festival they have started from 18 th December until 31 St December
A culinary voyage across all the coastal regions of South India
They have many varites of sea food like squid, fish, crabs, shark, prawns, etc and also They serve with different style and also unique flavors and good taste
Ambience and service was good and amazing
I loved the taste of food with neat presentation well garnished
A South Indian restaurant located near Soy Soi in Kotturpuram totally worth visiting.
Came here for Christmas lunch with family.
What we had - Set menu.
It comprised of
1) Welcome drink - Nanari Sarbath (a must try)
2) Soup
3) Starters - erachi ularthiyathu, pallipalayam mutton and nadan kozhi peralan (a must try)
4) Main course - Bun Parotta (a must try), Idiyappam (a must try), Appam, Biryani (a must try), Chicken curry and Fish curry
5) Dessert - Karupetti halwa and thenga paal payasam (a must try)
The drink - Nanari Sarbath is my favourite South Indian drink. An amazing way to start a meal. This drink never fails to disappoint me.
The soup - for those who enjoy prawns and coconut flavouring will definitely enjoy this soup. A soup with a really good taste and the perfect amount of spice along with the mild taste of coconut flavouring to it.
The starters - All the three starters were really good but the pallipalayam mutton was my personal favourite. For those who enjoy spicy food, these starters are a definite must try here. I enjoyed eating them as they were packed with flavour, making me crave for a second helping.
The main course - the Bun Parotta and Idiyappam were my favourites. The Idiyappam had the perfect consistency to it making it amazing to eat. The bun Parotta was really soft with a slightly crunchy outside, making it the perfect Parotta to eat. The fish and chicken curries were really good accompaniments with the main food. But for those who enjoy having a sweet taste to their curries will enjoy them. The chicken biriyani is a must try here. Made with the traditional biryani rice it had a really good flavour to it and had the perfect amount of succulent chicken pieces to it (Neither too much nor too less).
The desserts - desserts are the best way to end a meal. These desserts were surely the best way to end a scrumptious meal. The elaneer payasam and karupetti halwa were amazing. They are the best desserts and a definite must try indeed.
The ambience is beautiful. It brings in a nice South Indian feel to it. The service was really good. The staff made us wait for 10 minutes and then took down our order. Nevertheless they were courteous, friendly and brought the food on time.
In order to enjoy an amazing South Indian meal with family and friends, this place is a must visit!!!!!!!
Beautiful decor and very polite and friendly staff, and that’s the reason it’s a 4. For food alone, it’s still not a 4, though the place has great potential. The chutney paniyaram and rava vadai was very good. The vazhapoo vadai can be better. The green chilli paste king fish was good while the red chilli masala felt a little raw. The aapam was good while the veg stew could do with more vegetables. The keeranoor Kozhi Biriyani was very good. Overall a nice experience, but the X factor is missing in the food which is important for the fine dining experience and price this place claims

Went here just today. The staff were very courteous and helped us choose the right dishes. We loved every single item starting from the soups till the final Sulaiman chai. Will absolutely recommend this place and will also try to visit this place again. Need to try a few more dishes on their menu and had no space in my stomach today!!
Visited this place on the recommendation of a colleague. He had high praise for this place and his favourite staff here and I have to admit, both Savya Rasa and Mr. Saravanan lived up to it. Ambience - 4/5 Ambience of the restaurant is very rustic with a quaint display of artwork. We saw groups of people, small and large, seated in separate areas in an efficient, yet, tasteful manner. Would definitely recommend this place for larger groups. Food - 5/5 We were a group of 5 and ate to our heart's content. Starters were anjal rava fry (fried fish fingers with a semolina coating),royyala iguru (gun powder flavoured prawns), beef varattiyath (Kerala style beef fry). While waiting for the starters, we tried the rice papads and the tamarind and ginger pickles which were delightful. For main course, we sampled egg appams, noolappam idli and rice with prawns curry cooked with raw mango and Kori gassi chicken curry. Along with the option of mineral water, they offered jeera water and nannari flavoured water. Most of our party found the latter option sublime. One of us even tried the beetel leaves they gave at the end of the meal, a traditional South Indian version of paan. Staff - 5/5 Excellent service, great at recommendations and very courteous. Kudos to Mr. Saravanan! Overall experience - 5/5 They present cuisines from various regions in South India and do a great job. So if you ever visit Adyar and want to try south indian cuisine, this place is a must visit. You will leave Savya Rasa in a South Indian food-high
Amazzzzing food and awesome service by the staff. Loved the hospitality and would recommend all my friends to visit here in future
One of the main reasons to move to Chennai.... delicious South Indian food and that’s what I got when I tried out Savya Rasa.... great feel of the place and the food pretty awesome. Went on a weekend and wanted to have the thali but they don’t serve that during the weekends... So ended up ordering the the mutton biryani.. It was very tasty and not loaded with spices... just how I like biryani.. Also had the elaneer payasam... again, delish!! Hoping to go back sometime during the week to try their thali...
Very good service by Mr Suresh and all the staff. Loved the Poondu Saadyam and vada

One of the best Non-Veg restaurants I've been to. Taste and quality of the food is really good. Excellent service.
Spacing can be improved and the food can be a little less expensive.
We chose this place for a special South Indian family lunch and were delighted. We had siru Sola varuval and murugai rasam as part of our starters followed by a sadhya, neer Dosa with vazhaipoo murangai kozhambu (suggested by staff), bun parotta with kuttanadan beef varattiyatthu, tomato pappu with steamed rice as main course, coconut pudding, nannari sarbath, arisi payasam for desserts.
What we didn't like at all: coconut pudding. This has been our forever favorite at any South Indian restaurant but we were utterly disappointed with the one served here.
What we loved: tomato pappu had amazing flavours of garlic and tomato masala; our vazhaipoo murungai kozhambu was amazing with flavours bursting in each bite; payasam was lipsmackinlgy tasty and so was each item of the sadya.
Must visit for sadya.
I personally loved their decor and overall ambience.
For Authentic Traditional Tasty Menu and Good smell of South Indian Spices this will be right place .
Don't look for Fancy items in menu.
Best Flavoured Dishes and You will get ancient feel on it .
MUST for people looking for some ancient menu .
Such a good place to come out and eat in a traditional wayyy. Thank you so much for the valuable food. Mr. Suresh was excellent in service. But one drawback is that this place is too expensive 😁
This place has an amazing ambience and the service was really amazing, especially by Mr.Suresh. Ilaneer payasam happens to be my favourite food along with sea food dishes. I would recommend this place.
Probably one of the best South Indian spread I’ve come across in a long time. The excessive attention to detail, flavours and aroma make an everlasting memory.
This is a well and tastefully done up place for authentic chettinad cuisine. The starters were tastefully made and the food was delicious and fresh. Service was good and they were well priced. The ambience is also very classy and I thoroughly enjoyed my meal.
Went for lunch with my team and had the weekday thali.. ordered some items from ala carte menu.
Ambience: very nice and traditional setup. Ample seating for small and groups.
Service: staff were friendly and recommendations were good too. Valet parking available so now worries parking on a busy street.
Food: the Thali was too good. I specially liked the parota which was very soft. The meal is very filling with one soup, 2 starters (can offer better items instead of medhu Vadai), variety rice, steam rice and curd rice with rasam, sambar, pappu, Kara kozhumbu, beetroot pachidi (normally I don't eat but loved it) and 2 desserts.
If you go for the thali then don't order anything else because this is unlimited and tasty. It's not easy to do justice to the entire meal.
Value for money - it's expensive but worth the money you pay. Authentic south india food so worth trying out.
Proper authentic Tamil Nadu cuisine. Labeling it as South Indian is so unfair. So many different dishes that's never heard before makes curious to try. Elaneer payasam is the best I've tasted ever. Their non veg dishes are way too good. Just give it a try for trademark Tamil Nadu cuisine.
Having come across this name, i always felt something unique and yes that uniqueness is definitely present here. Terrific ambience, courteous staff and above all the food is the cream of the crop. Authentic south indian taste and those welcome with vadaams 😍 make you feel homely.
Vasantha neer, elaneer payasam and chettinadu nandu rasam are must try.
Overall it was a very happy and fulfilled experience at Savya Rasa. Continue the great work with highest quality 👍
During our recent visit to Soy Soi, we got attracted to the beautiful Savya Rasa and made a mental note to try it out soon. And it was the best decision ever.
We went to Savya Rasa on a Monday as a family and the hospitality was wonderful. Unfortunately we tried only Vegetarian dishes that day, but all of them were lip-smacking delicious. Basically they have a variety of unique recipes from Tamil Nadu, Andra, kerala and Karnataka. Please pay a visit to this restaurant if you love authentic South Indian cuisine.
Here are the dishes we ordered:
Murungai rasam(soup)
Siru urulai varuval
Senai kizhangu vadai
Nei choru
Steamed ponni rice
Tamatar pappu
Murungai vazhaipoo curry
Ilaneer payasam
My favorites were the vadai and payasam. Loved the experience and will definitely return whenever I can!!
Savya Rasa is serves the best and authentic South Indian food. I was in love with the taste of the food. I tried a variety of dal and rice which was very unique. Moreover I had mushrooms and potatoes cooked in South Indian spices. Names were very tough, sorry for that.
Ambience - Simple and Nice setup
Food- 3 types of water - Jeera, Tulsi and Vetti ver water - Rice vadagam as a complementary starter was super light and tasty. Elaneer and rosemilk tasted how they are supposed to be! Chinna vengaya chicken - super authentic Tamilnadu style chicken starter! Karuppilai milagu fish - soft and tasty! Kondakadalai kozhukattai was a mix of channa and kozhukattai balls and it was tasty as well!
Bun parotta and milagu kozhi chettinad curry was heavenly!
Kongunaadu mutton biryani was proper authentic Coimbatore style seeraga samba biryani!
Overall, all the dishes were tasty and the most important thing was it all had the right amount spices ! I mean most of the South Indian restaurants over do the spice part and make everyone cry.
Price - I felt it was a bit overpriced as I didn't taste anything special and this kind of masala and food is kind of regular for South Indians. Had I tried something other than Tamilnadu cuisine, I might have felt that the price was okay.
Service - Perfect!
Overall, a great place to enjoy authentic South Indian cuisine! Would recommend everyone to visit!
This places serves only authentic South Indian food from the 4 states and is a must visit for all South Indian cuisine fans! Ambience looks prettyyy
The ambience is very classy and grand and it is best you make a booking especially on weekends
On weekdays don’t forget to try their amazing unlimited thali!
.
Do try out this place and let us know too
Do visit if you are in Chennai. Elaneer payasam aka coconut milk kheer is a must try dessert and oh boy you must be crazy having their mutton biryani the flavour mixed in each and every rice
Every item we ordered had good taste.Bit costly but we had new experience and loved the food.We had 4 types of drinking water and we had traditional betel leaves
Perfect place for people who love South Indian food. The meat is carefully chosen and that gives the perfect taste for the food. The entire theme starting from door step till what they serve on table is all authentic. Dress code, politeness of the staff, lighting is just perfect for the theme.
A classy south indian lunch. 4 state flavours that are deliciously made. A must try place. For the ambience and the price it was worth it. Kindly book your table before you go sometimes Sunday lunch without table makes u wait long to taste their finger tingling food.
Good ambience. Nice service . Went to this famous authentic Restaurant on 14 th for lunch . Being their new year , they recommended Sadhya Thali , which was typical . I liked their payasam , papadam, pakoras . If you relish sour food , you will love their thali. I didn’t find it exceptional . May be next time non veg menu will change my opinion .
Savya Rasa is one of those places that as been on my list of places to try ever since they launched and somehow despite so much planning, it just didn’t happen. But when I finally did, it was such a great experience.
LOCATION
Located right on Gandhi Mandapam Road (Kotturpuram) next to Soy Soi, its hard to miss. Parking is sorted because they have a valet.
AMBIANCE
Once you step into the restaurant, it feels like walking into a museum of some sorts. Every wall is adorned by some rare antiques. The interiors are very tastefully done.
THE EXPERIENCE
Their menu is a curation of different dishes from various South Indian regions. It’s fair enough to say that they have indeed picked the best of every region. You can request the staff to give you a mini tour of the space and they will be more than happy to explain in detail about the various artefacts inside the restaurant. I really like the attention to detail here; the staff have a very good knowledge about the food and are very courteous. I liked how they serve water infused in herbs like vetiver, zeera and mint; all separately. We were served chilled Nannaari Sarbath as soon as we were seated and it felt very refreshing.
SOUP
The meal started off with a hot Mutton Nenjuelumbu Rasam laced with pepper. The broth was very tasty infused with the flavours from the mutton.
STARTERS (VEG)
We wanted to try something different and ordered Chutney Paniyram. Being very fond of paniyaram, I really enjoyed these little dumplings filled with kaara chutney inside. Loved it. Kondakadalai Kozhukattai ordered by the vegetarians was another interesting choice. It was more like ‘sundal’ with chick peas and tiny pieces of kozhukattai seasoned with vegetables and spices. Although Urulai Podi Varuval looked so tempting, could have been tossed long enough for the masalas to nicely soak into the vegetable. Also, in my opinion, this would be a great accompaniment with rice rather than being a starter.
STARTERS (NON-VEG)
Pacha Masala Meen Varuval (fish) with their secret green paste masala was my favourite. The fish was griddled to the right temperature which ensured the meat had the perfect texture. The Yeral varuval (prawns) and Pallipalayam Mutton were equally tasty especially the latter a speciality of Kongunaadu cuisine.
DRINKS
Mid way through our meal we ordered a couple of drinks and all of them were brilliant. I never talk about drinks in my reviews but I think the ones that we tried at Savya Rasa deserve to be mentioned. I am off aerated drinks for quite some time now and that’s why their drinks menu really impressed me. Vasantha Neer, a simple drink made with tender coconut water, honey and lemon was my favourite. Panagam, a mixture of jaggery and could be ultra-sweet in some eateries but this one was just balanced. The Kulukki (shaken) Sarbath (juice), a drink popular in Kerala is a sweet and spice mixture of lemonade and pineapple topped with Sabja seeds (from the basil family). Sabja seeds contain great nutritive value and are very cooling, which makes it an ideal drink for the summer. Neer Moor was seasoned perfectly and the Rosemilk was a delightful.
MAIN COURSE
We ordered just a couple of Erachi Ishtew (mutton) to go with fluffy appams. Although the stew was very tasty, it was very rich and dense and that can be overwhelming when you have already filled yourself with starters. The Bun parottas were fluffy yet crisp at the edges. We all enjoyed it so much with a delicious Milagu Kozhi Chettinad. Rightly spiced, the pepper chicken was just too good. Although their Mutton biryani was nice, I really enjoyed the Vetrilai Poondu Saadam from the Kongunaadu region, was a burst of flavours. Clearly the best in the vegetarian segment.
DESSERTS
We kept the desserts quite simple after such a hearty meal and ordered just some Elaneer Payasam (tender coconut) and Kavuni Arisi Halwa (Burmese rice). Both were simply too good. The latter is from the chettinadu region and is something that we make at home very often. Loved it.
IN A NUTSHELL
Definitelyu one of those places where you want to have a good relaxed meal with great ambience. Slightly expensive, but truly worth the experience.
Great ambience. The authenticity of the food is great. Fabulous taste. With some increased menu it is a perfect place for outsiders to enjoy authentic south Indian cuisine.
Sitting in my bookmark list like forever, suddenly the good gods happened to smile upon me! With quite an elaborate menu bringing the best of everything SOUTH, finding a favourite or finishing the menu is quite a difficult task. Normaly I comment on the service at the end cause that's when you actually know how good they are, but right from the start these guys are at their absolute best top notch stuff, right from the knowledge to the way how they handled us *pure bliss!
The welcoming with three different varieties of water and the same number of varieties in pickle as well, the nannari sarbath some vadams, ok wait am already eyes full! *breathes heavily! Ok.. hold on to something, cause it's gonna be a long ride 👍🏼
What we had??
- Nenjelumbu Rasam
Quite a right one to start of the meal, a spicy one not so spicy actually but the pepper does hit you. Made using mutton ribs which is left to boil along with its own fat and is also cooked along with chettinad spices.
- Urulai Podi Varuval
Our very own loved baby potatoes, tossed in a coarsed powder of condiments gives a nice texture difference while munching, with the soft potato getting a crunch by the podi that it's tossed along with! Ended up having a lot!
- Kondakadlai Kozhukattai
You very well can relate to this kadalai mixture, which you normally get in most koil as prasadham or even beaches but here the steamed rice flour dumplings is so soft it actually disintegrates with no real effort, mixed along with peppers and onions I would have liked it to be a little more spicy!
- Chutney Paniyaram
This is the first time am trying this kind of a variety in a paniyaram. Normally the paniyarams are served along with some chutney mainly coconut and red chilli, but here the kara chutney is stuffed inside and gives a small explosion on your second bite. Nice magic there!
- Vazhaipoo Vadai
Had them, loved them, carressed by them too! Quite a staple from the time I found this, an extra crunch is the only difference I found... there was a thayir chutney accompanied with it quite a fusion and did well for the vadai
- Pacha Masala Meen Fry
The hariyali kind, pudhina in our way is the base that domintes here. Cooked well throughout, the flavour is so elivating and makes the dish stand out in outs own true form.
- Kuttanadu Beef Varatiyathu
A crowd favourite this one almost every beef lover loved this, the tenderness the juicy content with coconut shavings also being topped of with! This is one real good addition to their already great list.
- Yeral Varuval
- Bun Parotta
Possibly the best variety I have had in a long time, flaky and buttery much almost any side dish would turn this around into a vera level accompanion. One thing that I noted was it's not a kind which is similar to the coin ones that is smaller in size, instead a normal one beat and folded into a smaller size.
- Eraichi Stew
I have no idea where this sweetheart came from but this sweeped my heart all the way round, with such richness and the mutton pieces sulking in that anyone who loves coconut or anything based off that would love this hands sown. Pairing it up with appam makes total sense cause you have the feel of the gravy more. But keep it limited cause it has a tendency to over power your tatse bud!
- Mizhagu Kozhi Chettinad
Another gravy with so much of grounded spices and flavour profile better to keep it as the last one to try cause i had it way before the eraichi stew and the sweet lingered all the way and haunted me all through the day!
- Vetrilai Poondu Saatham
Very few times you think of one and when you have a dish and it behaves like a total different kind, that's what happened here! All I expected was a normal bland one but one mouthfull and I had such a flavour explosion and took me by quite a surprise! A must try i would say fortunately you don't need to pair up with any sides!
- Kavuni Arusi Halwa
Kavuni Arusi market named as black rice is a chettinad special and I have seen them being used mainly for halwas but they are also used in idly varities and even puttu. The texture they've got is what makes it all the more special! Must try!
- Elaneer Pudding
Ok this one I just couldn't try cause I was already full up to the brim! Or maybe I didn't just to have an excuse to go there just again 😁😅
Happened to get a tour of the place after the ellaborate meal, and I needed an excuse to move my rear! I should say this is one of a kind and is a living/working museum. There's so much of culture and stories behind every single wall hanging and display. Please do ask them if you want to indulge in such as well it's worth it. And the attention to detail to every thing right from the menu to the cutlery and even the vethilai paaku box touch at the very end. 💯
If only this place was much more accessible with their pricing, which is the only the kill for me! And makes me to keep away from them and limit to special occasions.
Ambience : 4/5
Service : 5/5
Taste : 4.5/5
Overall : 4.5/5
For a city that celebrates global cuisine it's pretty shady that very few Indian restaurants make it big. South Indian cuisine to be more precise have been lacking the accolade they rightfully deserve.
Savya rasa that shares a common wall with soy soi opposite to AMM school in kotturpuram.
They celebrate southern cuisine well in their outlet in Pune and I'm more than glad the celebration was extended to Chennai.
Ambiance wise, amazing effort to project the culture and it's reflection on food. From decor to wall arts this place has done things to recreate the goodness of southern culture.
Food
We were about 12 pax and were welcomed with an amazing nannari sarbat. In the scorching heat I could only come back to my senses after gobbling those up. The vadam basket has been catching up in the recent trends and this place is no different to try the new. We started with a mutton based soup for the meat eaters and a simple tomato soup for the peasants. What I expected to be a garlic rich creamy one turned out to be a simple elegant tomato rasam ofcourse with loads of flavours that rejuvenate your appetite. Somehow they decided to o play this one veg dish low key with the name.
For starters when the non vegetarian options were flooded with ones that walk to quack, vegetarian options were pretty decent and turned close with the same authentic touch. Chutney paniyaram which was a normal paniyaram stuffed with hot tomato chutney in the core. This was a real good innovation that stands apart from the previous best innovation that one did with the paniyaram - the podi paniyarams. What tops the list next is the gunpowder baby potato, the podi is tempered onto the skin of potatoes and tossed in a generous amount of coconut oil was quite a twist. Though a little too hot for a potato this is the heat that's worthy a try. Pallipalayam Kalan is yet another twist that I welcome. Loaded with spices that was evidently too hot for button mushrooms they did their best to mimic a pallipalayam dish. I would prefer to he saunf broken or crushed for I had to awkwardly eliminate them as I ate. Another staple at home that was transformed with a good twist is the kondakadala kozhukatai. Pidi kozhukattai and chickpeas went together so well. Spices were amazingly on point and this is a recipe worth stealing from here. Ofcourse a vegetarian starter pack is never over without vazhapoo vada and for all the God's goodness there was no paneer in a south indian menu for once!
Main course was hard to fit into given the damage the starters did. Yet we fought out way through just to take a bite of how could a main course better such starters. In this order, bun parottas! Damn good soft crisp on the outside parottas that could make you cry. I love parottas and this is the kind that makes you cry, sided with pretty good things like the stew, vazhapoo drumstick kozhambu, kootu, and what not. Yet I'd strongly prefer a Salna like hot and spicy water gravy to side the bun parottas. Nei choru was a bit over done with carrots yet they were the perfect melt in the mouth types. They go amazingly well with all the above veg and so bragged about meat gravy. Poondu vetrilai rice was exceptional. Again hot and true to the nature, seemed a bit dry for my liking. Topping off with ghee or warm groundnut oil would do wonders to this bowl. Any extensive South Indian meal doesn't end without curd rice.
For drinks there were pretty authentic options like the panagam, neer more, kulukki sarbat, looking sarbat and many more. To taste such an elaborate menu requires an elaborate appetite. The kavuni arisi halwa and elaneer payasam are the best way to end any meal, with damn less sugar and the right amount of condiments.
This place has earned its place in my wishlist to visit them a couple more times to try out their complete menu.
Cost is a bit on the expensive side. Yet I would still be visiting to have a bite of the rest of the menu because this is not the normal overrated food that we make at homes these days.

Savya Rasa - A place that entices you with their food and their interiors alike.
I was really happy when I came to know that Savya Rasa was coming to Chennai. This is a legendary restaurant from Pune that serves authentic South Indian cuisine and recently I got to try their extensive menu with my friends for lunch and how I liked the whole experience of it!
The interiors are what meets the eye and the aesthetic pieces that adorn the walls reflect the South Indian culture that goes back to the roots of it. Everything was handmade using natural dyes and products and carefully preserved. What I loved the most were the kitchen equipments like vegetable grater, betel nut cracker and applam making mold that had the rich history embedded inside them.
Coming to the food, all the dishes had an unique element just like the artefacts. We started off with a very refreshing Nannari Sarbath and the Vadam basket that they provided gave way to munching while conversations flowed along the table.
The Mutton Nenjelumbu soup that came first had all the elements of a warm soup that soothes us during cold weather.
Chutney Paniyaram, Vazahipoo Vadai, Kondakadalai Kozhukattai, Pallipalayam Kaalan and Urulai Podi Varuval followed from the vegetarian starters menu. They all tasted different and unique. From the non veg starters we had Yeral varuval, Pallipalayam Mutton, Kuttanadan Beef Varattiyathu, Pacha Masala Meen Fry. I should say that the seafood starters stole the limelight when compared to the meat ones even though I loved the mutton and beef. That Yeral Varuval was one of the best I've had in recent times. So is the Pacha Masala Meen Fry. Too good.
All the drinks that we ordered were complementing the food. Out of Kulukki Sarbath, Vasantha Neer, Panagam, Neer Moru, Rose Milk and Kokum Mojito, the Vasantha Neer topped the list. Made out of coconut water, it was really refreshing!
Savya Rasa is known for their fluffy bun parottas from Madurai region and our lunch had to include those. I've never had such amazing parottas before. It was really soft yet crispy at the same time. Erachi Ishtew and Kozhi Mizhagu Chettinad were the curries that serve alongside the parottas. The star of the whole day was the Erachi Ishtew. It was just mind-blowing with the coconut flavors emanating so well. The meat was tender and the curry was oh-so rich! It was a perfect accompaniment to the parottas.
The Vetrilai Poondu Saadham and the Kongu Mutton Biriyani were the rice based dishes that we had. The Kongu Mutton Biriyani had the rich flavor of the Kongunaad region coming through. The Vetrilai Poondu Saadham was also really good! People who love garlic will surely love this dish!
We finished this massive feast with Elaneer Payasam and Kavuni Arisi Halwa. Loved the Elaneer Payasam to bits and pieces. But the Kavuni Arisi Halwa reigned above everything. Towards the end we had Suleimani to finish one good meal!
On the whole it was a truly different experience even though the flavors of the food were familiar to us. If you are looking for a restaurant that serves authentic South Indian food, where you will be treated to such great hospitality by veshti clad waiters, then Savya Rasa is the place to go.

Savya rasa was in my checklist for long time. And at last been here for lunch. Savya Rasa is place where one could find almost authentic recipes from 8 regions of South India serving on the table with a fine dining. experience.
Welcoming in a happy VANAKKAM note each and every person there were so warm in doing that, which really impressed me first. Then they were so excellent in helping us know about each of the food they serve.
Ambiance: calm and well maintained space with pretty and lovely old fashioned chairs and tables. Decors were all about a travel collection from each part of South Indian. You must be definitely hear the stories about their interiors and wall hangings. Two private rooms available even.
Food:
Water here on the table had three varieties sat Vetrivel, zeera and tulsi, which have their own benefits. Welcomed with a shot of nannari sarbath which I used to love in my native, and it was the same as I love it, We were served with yummy less oily fryyums or sago vathal with three varieties of pickle.
Mutton nenjelumbu soup - I would definitely say it’s the best I had in any restaurant as of now, if made me think of how well my grandma. Served hot with a good portion.
Veg starters:
1. Vazhappoo vadai - I had a happy feeling after having it “vada vadathaan ya”. My feeling on this one was the vazhappoo used could have been more.
2. Chettinad paniyaram - the paniyaram was so good with a chutney stuffed in the middle. Loved them.
3. Kondakadalai kozhukkattai- equal portions of both tossed well with finely chopped onions, tomatoes, ginger etc and served hot. This was my another favourite in veg starters.
4. Urulai Podi varuval - baby potatoes roasted and tossed well with Podi. The potatoes were cooked well and tossed well with the Podi which made them good enough.
Non veg starters:
1. Kuttanadan beef varattiyathu - name says it all. I love this one and one of the best beef I had in a fine dining place. The beef pieces were so juicy and yummy with proper portion on spices. I will definitely pay for the price.
2. Pacha masala meen fry - the fish was so fresh and the pacha masala added to it made it still better around.
3. Eraal varuval - my granny used to make this kind of eraal fry when I was refusing to have prawns. This was so morukku morukku in taste and lovely prawns. Another favourite from non veg list.
4. Pallipalayam mutton - the mutton was so good with small chopped pieces tossed well with masala and a taste of coconut added to it. The coconut pieces with the mutton masala will remain my favourite in all pallipalayam varieties.
Bun parotta - Madurai special bun parotta is here in their own authentic way. So fluffy the parotas with their own flaky and s mild crispy touch.
Appam - we tried their plain version and also the egg version. The egg one was my go 💛
Vetrilai poondu Sadham - seeraga samba rice with a proper mixture of poondu and vetrilai. This rice portion made me feel good, the taste was equally the best when had with coconut raitha.
Kongu mutton biriyani- aromatic small pieces of mutton filled kongu styled biriyani. And authentic to be precise.
Nei sooru- ghee Rich rice with cardamom flavoured and cumin seeds with choppers carrots into it. Loved them and the combo of vazhappoo murungakka kozhambu was yummilicious. And really I can’t get over this combo.
Vazhappoo murungakkai kozhambu - puree was so yummy and went well with the ghee rice which Iam telling you again, cause I loved it more.
Milagu kozhi Chettinad- the gravy was so rich in pepper and the tender chicken pieces over the pepper was so juicy and spicy. Good combo with parota. But I’ll definitely say it will be lovely with idly or kal dosa.
Irachi stew: tender pieces of meat with a rich purée of coconut milk gravy. Definitely the yummy one had in my life. And I’ll go here again just to have this. Favourite of all. To add a little spice to it they add a small portion black pepper to it.
Drinks: ordered 5 varieties of drinks say kulukki sarbath which was okay in my view, panagam which was overpowering with the taste, Vasantha neer was new to me, rose milk and asusual am a lover of it and last the kokkum mojito was good either.
For dessert had the kavuni arisi halwa which was so yummy with less sweet in it and elaneer payasam was either the same best one.

To be precise This place is a happy spot to fill in your whole South Indian food loving family and having a great time with them. Definitely you’ll never be disappointed, with their authentic dishes served with love.
Visited this place with my fellow foodies, which gave me a chance to try a lot of their dishes.
This restaurant is an expensive pan south indian fine dining joint and offers all time favourites from all four states, with a twist if I was to judge.
Ambience
While I did not stay back for a tour experience of the place, they seemed to have on display some vintage and historical artefacts. Not my area of expertise and not what people here are to judge, so not getting into further details on that.
Comfortable seating and good interiors, there seemed to be an option to choose private room, which I believe may require pre booking.
Pricing
On the expensive end. But what else would you expect from a prime spot fine dining joint in Kotturpuram?
Service
Friendly staff who seemed reasonably aware of the key dishes. Food was served in reasonable time and hence nothing to complain here.
Food
I loved the following dishes:
1. bun parota and milagu kozhi chettinad combo: flaky and filling parotas and flavourful chettinad gravy.
2. Erachi ishtew: while I was completely surprised with the oriental’ish coconut milk flavour (not typical to the traditional kerala stew - at least the veg preparations I have truckloads of), it worked like magic for me, maybe because I love the usage of coconut milk in oriental style preparations.
3. Vethalai poondu satham with vazhapoo murungai kozhambu was something unique I tried and would definitely recommend this to vegetarian diners.
4. Pallipalayam mutton
Nice juicy mutton chunks with coconut strips, was winner.
5. Yeral varuval
Nice crispy fried prawns with a balanced flavour. Was my favourite among starters
6. Their summer coolers
Nannari sharbat, kuluki sharbat, kokum mojito - all impressed.
What did not impress
1. Mutton nenju elambu rasam
Slightly on the salty side for my palate.
2. Urulai podi varuval
I am used to them being spicier and not having the mild bitter after taste. Did not work for me!
Most of the other dishes we tried were decent. While the place would ideally mean a 3.5/5, I am being liberal due to the revised scoring scale and the uniqueness they bring to what is mainstream food in south.
While it is definitely pricy, I would suggest you reserve it for a special occasion.
A wonderful place with great Authentic ambience and excellent service to give a treat for your Taste buds. The food here is excellent and worth the money you pay for! A must visit place! Sakthi Nishanth
When some friends ask me a good southindian nonveg place, I often suggest 1-2 restaurants and there aint much option to go beyond. Chennai being a conservative city, number of native casual dining are way less. Now, Savya Rasa has become one of the places which is must try for every south Indian food lover.
The restaurant is on Kotturpuram road before the Anna centenary library. The parking is spacious.
The ambience is quite homely. The artifacts are quaint and goes well with the interiors. The furniture reminds me of Batlivala and Meena Tai's. There are two private rooms.
Menu is quite extensive and exquisite. If one wants a well curated 5 or even a 7 course meal with family, this is a great place to go.
We were welcomed by Nannari Sarbath and fryyms basket. Sarbath was refreshing. They have 3 choices of water- Vettiver, tulsi and zeera. Started with mutton nenjelumbu soup which has that unique bone taste.
The veg starters were good - Vazhai poo vadai, Urulai podi varuval, chutney Panniyaram and Kondakadalai kozhukatai. . The nonveg starters were equally good - Pallipalayam mutton, Kuttannadan Beef. It is evident that most are kongunadu favorites, which became our favorites too.
Bun Parotta, Aapams are the main attractions of our meal. Bun Parotta was crispy and fluffy at the same time. Aapams and Bun parotta went well with the sides recommended by the waiters. Milagu kozhi chettinad and Erachi ishtew were absolute show stealers.
Vetrilai podi satham is a healthy and light pulav however my choice of Kongu mutton biryani went impeccable. It was how a coimbatorean household biryani will taste like. But, I didn't enjoy nei soru here.
We then ordered Vasantha neer which is an amalgamation of honey and tender coconut, quite a delight. The panagam was overpowering with karupatti. Kokum mojito, kuluki sarbath are must try.
Kavuni Arusi halwa and Elaneer payasam are both perfect desserts to end this lavish meal. Also had a Sulemani to seal the deal.
The service deserves a praise, they work swiftly and promptly in the most unfriendly attire to work in - Dhoti.
Prices are tad high here but for the dining experience, it looks to be worth it.

There are a few places that grab attention once they open doors for business and as a food blogger keep tempting you for visiting them for various reasons..Like Good reviews, wide variety in the menu and even serving dishes that you aren't familiar with or not easily available elsewhere..Savya Rasa is one such place which was in my wishlist since they opened up in chennai..And only recently i was able to try them thanks to plan that worked out with my fellow foodie friends..
This Restaurant is located on the Gandhi Mandabam road in kotturpuram exactly opposite to AMM Matriculation School and few yards from the Anna Centenary Library...Due to a unique and traditional frontage this place is pretty hard to miss too..The Restaurant has some good parking space available and also has option for valet..
Once you enter you feel like you are transported to a place native to cuisines..Filled with traditional items all around be it the the portraits, carpets that adorn the wall or be in the kitchen items like graters and beetle crushers that are neatly arranged in on the walls...with rich wooden tables and chairs there is no compromise of comfort..In addition to the normal seating of 40 odd ppl there are 3 PDAs that can seat another 20 ppl..Quite spacious in the seating and well maintained...
Note : All the items in the Restaurant that form the part of the ambiance are special for some reason or the other..Plz do ask the servers for their importance if you are interested..
The Service IMO is the best part of this restaurant with a good batch of ppl..The servers were kind and polite and were happy to accommodate all of our requests in addition to a very good idea of the food they serve..The whole group that served us were quite efficient and the waiting time was quite average..And they were happy to show us around when we asked about a few items that adorn their walls..A private tour if you ask me..
These place boasts off serving as much as 8 different south indian cuisines and have a extensive and great menu for each of these..
Given Below is the list of items we tried and my take on them..
Mutton Nenjelumbu Rasam(rs249) : In recent times i have tried the mutton nenjelumbu rasam quite often and believe me when i say that this was the best i have had in my life time..Man the taste is still lingering on my tongue and just cant get enough of it..Perfectly spiced and bone extract was just perfect too..This would be such a bliss to ppl with sour throat or cold..
Fryyums : You get a basket of rice papads and sagoo vathals to while your time before you get your food..pretty decent ones IMO that is served with 3 kinds of Chutney and Pickle..
Vazhai poo Vadai (rs219) : Hailed from the Kongunadu Cuisine this is one of the best vadai i have had thanks to the perfect texture with a crispy exterior and yummy banana flower and dhal mixture that is served with coconut chutney which is a worthy accompaniment to this yummy vadais..
Kondakadalai Kozhukattai (rs229): Also from the Kongunadu cuisine Rice flour dumplings in the size of chickpeas that are tossed with chickpeas themselves in a mixture of onions, pepper and other spices..The different textures of kozhukattai and chickpeas went well with each other and when combined with other spices and pepper it was just too good
Pallipalayam Mutton (rs499) : Such soft and succulent pieces of mutton mixed in with coconut in a traditional pallipalayam masalas..Was just perfect in my opinion..yummy and it just left me wanting for more..We also tried the mushroom variety of the same called the Pallipallayam Kalaan priced at rs249..Also really good in taste..These 2 were also from the Kongunadu cuisine..
Urulai Podi Varuval (rs229) : This belongs to the chettinad cuisine..Small Baby potatoes boiled well and tossed along with a mixture of ground lentils, chili powder and other items...This was the least impressive of the lot IMO..
Chutney Paniyaram (rs249) : Also from the Chettinad cuisine these Paniyarams are infused with chutney..this was the first time i tried such a thing and i quite liked what i had..The cooking was just perfect on the paniyaram and so was the taste..
Yeral Varuval (rs669) : Prawns fried in with chilli powder with a hint of turmeric along with curry leaves and sesame seeds..The Prawns were soft and succulent and seemed so fresh overall..This too belonged to the Chettinad cuisine..
Kuttanadan Beef Varattiyathu (rs349) : Part of the Nasrani cuisine that is claimed to be from the kerala christians covering the areas of kottayam and alapuzha this beef dish was one of the best i have had..The meat was so soft and succulent and mixed in with spices and coconut..Perfect good with such a yummy lipsmacking taste..
Pacha Masala Meen Fry (rs549) : Seer fish that was grilled on a tawa in a green masala which had hints of curry leaves and also of lemon and other spices..the taste was something that stays on the tongue for a long while and the fish too was perfectly cooked..
Bun Parotta (rs99) : Now i have been wanting to try bun parottas for quite some while..but the limitation of getting it in chennai almost made to forget it when i was in surprise when i saw it on the menu and ordered it first up..So fluffy and crispy and flaky i can just imagine to say that it was just perfect..
Aapams (rs99) : One of the best aapams i have had in a while and with the yummy gravies served along with it this was just too good..Also happened to try the Muttai aapam which was a tad bit better...This is priced at 129rs..
Vetrilai Poondu Sadham (rs299) : Seeraga Samba rice cooked in with beetle leaves and fried garlic..This was just too good and pair it with some yummy coconut raita that they served and it was just out of this world..Must try..
Kongu Mutton Biryani (rs549) : As the name suggests this was a typical kongu style mutton biryani with some tender pieces of mutton..The biryani was flavorful and quite aromatic and a must try when you visit the restaurant..
Eraichi Ishtew (rs559) : Man This was one of the richest gravies i have had in a while and all this richness is from the rich coconut milk that was cooked in with the tender pieces of meat...The gravy is lightly spiced due to the addition of black pepper..and i recommend this with the aapams..They also have a veg variant called the Veg Ishtew..
Milagu Kozhi Chettinad (rs449) : A Typical Chettinad dish spicy and yummy with crushed black pepper and lichen along with succulent chicken pieces..went well with the bunparotta..
Vaazhaipoo Murungaka Kozhambu (rs349) : Again a coconut based gravy in a mix of drumstiks and plantain flowers..This was served with Neichor..
Neichor (rs279) : Rich rice with flavor of cardamom along with bay leaves...The Aroma of the butter was just top notch and as said the gravy served as the accompaniment did its job pretty well..
Drinks : We did try a variety of drinks of which the nannari sharbath was a welcome drink and it was quite perfectly made and good in taste..The neer more was quite decent..Vasantha Neer based of tender coconut was quite average IMO..Panagam was the best of the lot but was not consistent as the 2 drinks we ordered were a lot different in taste..Kokum Mojito and Kulaki Sharbath were also Good..
Suleimani Chai : The mix of arab and kerala this sulemani chai was one of the best i have had in recent times and that too in chennai..
Desserts : Kavuni Arisi Halwa and elaneer payasam were the ones we tried..The Elaneer payasam was just too good perfectly sweetened and yummy..The Halwa based up with kavuni arisi was really good and topped with cashews..Too good..
Savya Rasa did live upto my expectation with some good and yummy tasting food items...Though a couple of items did not meet expectations the majority of the items actually exceeded expectations and a few of them are something i would recommend in chennai for sure..Yes the pricing is on the higher and can be said its at par with star properties but the taste of food items and exceptional service in addition to the top class quality makes it completely worth to try on some special occasions..A place i would definitely recommend in chennai...
Tried their Veg thali, I must say it's better than many other places I tried. It had great variety to offer and each with a very specific spice and it taste different . I highly recommend this place.
The most authentic south Indian cuisine that can be found in Chennai! A must visit place!
What we ordered and the best!
1.Chutney paniyaram
2.Urulai roast
3.Vetrilai Sadhan
4.Fish
5.Pollachi chicken curry
6.Bun parotta(The texture and the taste was so yummmm)
PS: Every single dish was served piping hot😁
Truly a gem. The owner personally attended to us and I could tell he cares about every little detail in the restaurant. The food was delicious, meticulously prepared and served and unlike anything else I had tasted before. Recommended!
Lovely place for authentic South Indian food and experience. The interiors are cozy, the waiters are just outstanding in their service and zeal to serve customers in the most respectable way, and the food is just out of the world. I specifically enjoyed the prawns, the chicken soup, the the kavuni rice halwa and elineer( tender coconut) pudding
We hadn't gone here for a long time because we thought it's just a South Indian restaurant, we're south indian. How different can it be?
We were pleasently surprised.
Right from the outset, it had a very authentic look. All the chairs and the tables reminded me of an ancestral homes that I've been to. The Smell was also very traditional, like your grandparents setting off an incense early morning.
The waiters are dressed in Sarees and Dhotis and white shirts which just adds to the look.
The Service was also prompt. We wanted to change tables and they did it fast. We never had to wait more than a few seconds when we wanted something.
The Food was amazing. Their Coin Parotta with Chicken curry is a must try for starters. It's bite sized and disappears super fast.
We also tried one of their coconut based chicken curries and bun parotta. Their bun parottas are soft and fluffy. Definitely recommend.
While I initially thought their prices were a little on the higher side, the portion sizes for mains convinced me otherwise.
The curry could serve like 4 people easily. We also got their prawn biriyani and we could hardly make a dent ( 2 people).
Their Elaneer Payasam was the only thing I was not a fan of. It tasted a little too much like only Elaneer.
Their Ambalapuzha Pal Payasam, on the other hand, was amazing.
This is a great place to take a family with old people who are not too experimental with theirs foods.
We went here a second time for my birthday with family. They have two rooms, one for 6 and another for 8 people.
Our waiter for the day, Rueben, took really good care of us. He was attentive the whole time and shared portions correctly, filled our glasses up when we needed them and so on.
We would recommend almost everything there. It's very homestlye, you don't feel like it's from a restaurant.
The two standouts were prawn ghee roast and sainu thaatha's chicken kebab. Both of which are a must try.
One of the waiters there also gave us their umbrella for us to move to our cabs.
Amazing experience. We will come back again.
My recent visit to Savya Rasa in Chennai was truly delightful. The restaurant offers authentic South Indian cuisine, and what made the experience exceptional was the outstanding service from Praveen and his team. They ensured a memorable dining experience with great recommendations and attentive service. If you're in Chennai and craving both exceptional service and South Indian flavors, Savya Rasa is the place to go
A place with great and fast service, good ambience and food. One must try kondu vegetable biryani, poraichi paratha paneer ghee roast tasted extremely delicious but some other items like kappa cutlet with idichammanti, neer dosa, idiyapam idli, needs some improvement. The coriander based brinjal curry that is vankaya kothmir koora and godhi roti needs a lot of improvement. It was the biryani and their quick service that just saved our dining experience and is therefore given 4 stars.
I came here with the reference of my friend , really I feel everything is nice , I compare this one with dakshin ( crown plaza ) I really feel this is much better , I tried everything out here , I cannot tell any bad things about the food or service , especially ‘Ansil’ preferred us the best , and served the best .. thank you for giving such a good service and food . Thanks from the heart
Right from the grand entrance with the hand made athangudi tiles and the carefully curated artefacts, Savya Rasa is a brand that is deeply entrenched in South Indian cuisine and culture. With recipes and dishes collected and nurtured through many renditions, this brand brings the best versions to the table.
The recent Chettiar Table : Chettinad Food Festival was a continuation of their commitment and love for the cuisine!
Try everything that appeals to you, read the descriptions and allow the ingredients and combinations to tempt you.
The best South Indian cuisine i have ever tasted and the taste was authentic. We had poricha barotta with chicken, chicken rasam, pacha meen varuval, neer dosa, mutton curry and kongu naadu mutton biryani last but not least elaneer payasam. Satisfied tummy and amazing service as well. Lil expensive but worth it
Great food, nice ambience and service is good. Portions are bit small.
A very good place to enjoy south Indian cuisine. Starters are awesome and the service prompt and courteous.
If you want authentic South Indian cuisine in Chennai, this is definitely the place. It is expensive but the flavours and the taste of the freshly pounded masala in every dish makes it worthwhile. The decor, presentation and service along with the lovely food are the pros of the place. The quantity per serving should be a little more
Amazing food. The ambience is excellent. The servers are dressed in traditional attire. Our sever , Ansil went above and beyond to make our experience top notch. Just go with his recommendations.
Located in kotturpuram, on the main road only valet parking option this south indian restaurant serves both veg and non veg options. Nice decor, attentive service, good food options and decent quantity, pricey though..Seating is quite limited and tends to become noisy if fully occupied. They have a private enclosed area with 6 seats upon advance reservation. Contemporary decor with silk sarees etc make it pleasing to the eyes.
I recently visited Savya Rasa, and I must say, it was a delightful experience. The food, especially the bun paratha, was exceptionally delicious. The atmosphere was inviting, and the staff members were friendly and attentive. I thoroughly enjoyed my time there and would highly recommend it to others seeking a tasty meal in a warm and welcoming setting.
One of the best places to have South Indian food for non South Indians. It is one of the few places that offer variety and taste and not the same old menu. The only thing is they should maintain consistent quality every time and every day. I have been to this place multiple times and while it is great sometimes, at times food is only mediocre. Curries / stews are too watery or food just doesn’t taste that good. Service has also become only average in the past few months.
Mouth watering south Indian food with a very pleasant and artsy decor and ambience. The staff, especially Guru the head waiter, was super friendly and helpful. He walked us through the whole menu and helped us chose the right dishes.
He even went above and beyond thought us how to roll a Vethalai/Paan. Will absolutely recommend, even for vegetarians, just to experience their hospitality and service.
Savya Rasa authentic south Indian style hotel in kotturpuram, Next to Anna centuratory library.Ala carte type of hotel and best ambience.
For order we need to scan the QR code,It will give menu ( First time I seen this type of system in Chennai)
We ordered the kori chicken, Ghee prawn, vanchiram fish, pallipalaiyam chicken, mutton briyani, chicken briyani, Non-Veg (Unlimited) meal, chicken soup, ilaneer payasam, moorneer, lichy juice and icecream.
Starters are very good taste and crisp.
Especially Ghee prawn and ilaneer payasam are tasty.
Briyani's are not upto the level. Please try other items other then briyani.
Better go with Non-Veg meals.
Staff are very good and polite manner.
I can prefer and refer this hotel to Non-Veg lovers.
Forgot to mention "I loved the ambience and food here" also their "menu card system"
We were brought here by family friends on my first visit to Chennai recently. We thoroughly enjoyed our experience at this upscale restaurant. The interiors are done tastefully, and the service was attentive. I appreciated that the servers noted that one of us is vegetarian and would arrange the dishes and serve them in such a way that respectful to her. We tried a variety of dishes, all of which were top-notch in flavour and presentation. Will definitely be coming here again.
