Very difficult to find. Deep inside in the corner. Very good items.
Good authentic Gujarati food, just price is little high
Best Gujarati food I have had ever! A must try for everyone in Chennai and those that visit! Top quality food for great value!
Real talk the jalebis & ghatia and dhokla at this place is food for the gods
Amdavadi has a pretty decent menu and good food. I like that Chennai has an exclusive gujju restaurant. We ordered a few take-outs during lockdown and noticed that they charge Rs. 10 for every item to be packed. What’s confusing is why they do not provide cutlery with take-out if they’re going to charge me anyway. We ordered take-out for the family on a long drive home and we were forced to eat everything (including bhel and shrikhand) with our hands and not have any napkins either. We paid Rs. 80 in packaging and struggled to find spoons/forks/napkins during a lockdown.
Food here has authentic Gujarati taste. Service is prompt and staff is very courteous. The place is quiet and has cozy ambience.
A decent place offering a decent Gujju food. Since I was staying by in a nearby hotel and saw this place I just jumped on to the idea of having my dinnwr here. I preferred to have their day's Thali . The line up had palak muthiya (okay okay) sone mohare (onion filling potli deep fried) rotli puri, vatana gobi, bateta nu rassa varu sak , quiet essential sweet dal, shrikhand, kachumbar, papad and mint chaas. I was craving for sev tamatar, maybe next time.... with some other snacks to try out with their evening combo.
Great food, greater service, best staff.
Stepped into Amdavadi for evening snacks. A very nice ambience and pleasing staff too. Had Samosa, Jalebi and Masala tea. All tasted good. Must try their thaali some other time.
With a family, had a thought to hit Rajdhani but also looked out for options similar to the food served and found this close to home. The qty was just right for Lunch, rest could leverage from Unlimited thali’s😋😋. The menu varies each day and the ambience was contemporary. I liked it and will repeat my visit 👍🙂🙂🤤😋
Ambience is awesome!!! Pakka gujju menu!!! In Chennai very rare restaurant provide gujju foods... bit high in price... Should improve taste of daal...
Been here multiple time. Have always had good experience here. A special mango thali festival was on. Went for this instead of their usual thali. Everything tasted good. Didn't realize that poori could tasted divine when paired with aam ras. Finished off with mango Lassi and aam phirini. A satisfying meal!
A perfect place to have authentic Gujarati food.
Their platters are damn tasty - the dhoklas, Sabudana Vada and Kandavi .
The thali's are a perfect combination of different flavours of Gujarati cusinie.
After long time I got homely food and taste. Food was served hot and fresh. I love the lillva no kachori , khichadi and kadhi. Very nice 👌 food. Definitely should visit once again.
It had been a little more than 4years since I last had an authentic gujju thali during my college days in Anand. However, all those memories came rushing down as I had my first bite of the food in here.
Superb ambience and lip smacking food with unlimited generous toppings of desi ghee. Definitely worth a shot if you want to savour the taste of Gujarat.
Went to this Gujarati restaurant with a nearbuy coupon for chai nasta. Ordered masala chai with Sona mohare.
Masala chai was really good and quantity was also good. Apna majored is basically onion kachori which tasted ok. The two chutneys served along with it were good.
The place is little inside from the road so little difficult to find. The ambience was very good I would say. It can seat around 45 to 50 people at a time.
This place is located in t nagar and is exclusively for Gujarati cuisine.
We ordered dhoklas ,khandvi and fafda ghatiya
The dhoklas and fafdas.were good but not the khandvi
I honestly expected alot from this place after reading the zomato reviews and I am a bit dissapointed .
It would be better if they increase the variety of food
Overall a quite and a peaceful place
Ordered standard thali. Ghee jeera rice, Bharelo Bhindi, Sev Tamatar, phulka and sukhdi. All for 99+taxes. Decent meal. Liked it.
Bharelo Bhindi with peanuts had nice flavour. Sev tamatar was the usual tomato bhaaji topped with sev. Phulka was soft. Jeera rice was ok. One piece of Sukhdi a sweet made from atta tasted good.
Yo yo gujrati its like i m in my home eating great guju food tastes bahubali place kattapaa i love it but real one requirements pls change the plates stop useing plastic baka vl visit again now its my favorite all time
I wanted to have something bland and decided to go to this place which is near to GRT grand where I was put up. A small Gujarati restaurant was just perfect for me.
I ordered masala kichdi with kadi. Masala kichdi is nothing but bisi bele bath for kannadigas. It was good. I did not know whether to have kadi before or after kichdi! So ended up without finishing it :(. Also ordered chhaas which was good.
If ur coming by walk, u have to walk all the way inside to find this restaurant. Peaceful place though. Food was good.
The food is good and the service is good too..a good ambience and a silent place ..the location is good too and the staff is friendly and sukhdi and sabudana vada, pankhi, roti is awesome❤️
If you feel like having gujarati food, check this place. My husband loved my choice of visiting this place.
Masala kitchadi dhokla sabodhana vada were out of world.
This place serves a delicious gujarati food(also on jain). The service is little bit slow. And the ambience is also good. The staff is also cooperative.
Nice gujarati themed restaurant.........their menu is quite unique and nice........taste of the food is good......price is very nominal.......ambiance of the restaurant is very enjoyable.........most of the times we have been in evening times only.........so always enjoy when we go here for a different menu for our tummy.......good place for family hangout with gujarati dishes...................
Had their Aamras 😻😻❤️ and had their thali too !! We also had pooris .. It was my first visit to this kinda place !! Simply loved their ambience ❤️❤️ couldn’t take pics of fud Coz we were really very hungry 😂🙊
Another addition to the list of places in chennai which are concerned more about food and your overall experience.
The location is great, ambience isn't loud and is quite welcoming. Nice wooden chairs and sparingly clean table tops. Staff is super friendly and is quite conversant with both Hindi and Tamil.
Going by the menu, each dish seems to have a big portion size, so I decided to go for the Thali. Each dish was the way its supposed to be, just right amount of masalas and correct portion sizes for an unlimited Thali. Had hot fulkas after ages however they were a big too thick. Pooris were perfect. Chaas served here isn't your regular watery affair, thumbs up to that. Masala Khichdi had veggies in it and it was yum. Everything else in the thali was just wow.
Overall, a good place to visit if you want to have vegetarian food which isn't full of butter, cream and heaps of masala.
Will visit again to try out other dishes. And will try to make it for the unlimited masala tea affair.
P. S. - Google maps has wrong geo tagging for this place, do call the restaurant once to ensure you don't waste time.
The ambience is nice and very appealing. If you love Gujarati cuisine or want to try it then this is the place for you in Chennai. Food is really nice and variety is also there. One suggestion, please make your board more visible and correct your location of google maps.
Best place for Gujarati style. Pleasant environment. Serving with love. We love the food and also the persons serves the food. Surely will come again.
Whatte wonderful Ambience and lovely service. So happy been found this place - genuine Gujarati food.! Happy customer. We ate and also packed food home. The place has beautiful harmony.
Amdavadi s little difficult to locate.. The interiors were awesome and you culd get a perfect north indian menu.. The only thng is it was not so good for my south indian taste buds.
Beautiful and serene place. Loved the ambience. The food was also good. Could have been a little hot. Overall a must try joint.
Location is very good. Justifies its price. I ordered the thali and it was sumptuous. The staff were courteous.
Visited the place on a weekday evening .
Good ambience . Not many guests were there .
Yummy Gujarati Food ...
Dabeli was a bit spicy ...
Theplas and the Khaman -- very yummy
and much enjoyed by everyone -
If you want to have mouth watery gujarathi snack and memorable chai time ,then head to Amdavadi.
Located next to gangotree at tnagar, this place is always my favorite.Visited this place for the fourth time.Their doklas are softy and tasty.Their masala chai is so rejuvenating to have.Apart from that their Gauva gravy served is totally unique in the town.We also tried corn bhajji‘ s which was not disappointing either.
Kudos Amdavadi!!!!
It’s always interesting to try out new cuisines ! And that too authentic ones that are rare are more interesting ! And that’s where Amdavadi comes to play !
An authentic Gujarati snack house to satisfy all your hunger for Gujarati snack !
Ambience : they have a wonderful, soothing , and a relaxing ambience to calm your senses ! The lightning, paintings and decor give you a glimpse of the Gujarati life style and culture !
Food : 1 Sona mohare : small deep fried pockets or potli of Gujarati onion masala given along with mint chutney! A great combo !
The evergreen khandvi ! Absolutely wonderful Besant rolls !! Was delicious
Kutchi dabeli : hot soft Pav buns filled with Gujarati masala , pomegranate seeds - was lip smacking !
Sabudana Wada : a regular Snack ! Sabudana Wada with mint chutney and sweetened yogurt !
And to finish , a huge cup of piping hot masala chai !! And that’s what is called a great event Ngl snack !!
Pricing - feel a little overpriced! But is worth the quality and quantity! Would be a great place for family dinners and lunches !
lovely ambience. delicious food served. courteous staff. you get to experience something different from what you have been used to while going to Gujarati restaurant. the masala chai is like their signature recipe. I will definitely recommend my friends
Being Gujarati in Chennai, once in a while I wanted to eat Gujarati food. I discovered this restaurant from a colleague. I had a thalli. Good authentic taste, unlimited with two sabjis, roti/puri, dal and rice, chaas, a sweet, kachhumbar, papad, dhokla, sabudana vada, dabeli and chutney. Good Sumptuous Gujarati meal in a lovely ambience.
Excellent Gujarati food and snacks. Prompt service and good staff. Would definitely recommend if you want to try authentic Gujarati food in Chennai.
The ambiance is so good here. Located in the middle of the city, this place gives a peaceful ambience. The service staffs were polite and customer friendly. The food is quite okayish only considering the price we pay. But the ambience is totally worth it !!
Tried Kutchi Dabeli, Sabudana Vada, Palak Muthiya, Thepla Jhamfal, Masala Khichdi served with Kadi, Kokum and Rajwadi Chas. Palak Muthiya and Thepla were star dishes of the evening. Thoroughly cooked and tasted delicious. Masala Khichdi with Kadi tasted like one we have at home. It was another delicious dish. Sabudana Vada was average. Nothing special about the flavour. Have given low ratings due to disappointing taste of Dabeli, Chas and Kokum. The Dabeli masala in pav was very less, pav wasn't toasted properly and masala taste was very blunt.
Service is quick. The hotel has a very simple yet elegant decor. It is a little hidden on the streets of T.Nagar.
The hotel is a good place to hangout with family and friends for both snacks and dinner.
Great food. The fried platter was worth the money. Had a nice taste of authentic gujrathi food. Although I couldn't understand their concept of unlimited chai combo I would have been happy if they would make their thali unlimited
Thepla with jamfha sakh. Guava dish
Dhokla with sweet tooth always a perpetual blessing to appetite.
Should have a great company to sit and talk and eat relax
I have been visited this place for twice it has a nice setting. Amidst the busiest location of city T Nagar,
Still amdavadi has is own calm ambiance. It's a good place family and foodies.all the dishes will have the touch of sweetness masala chain is so yumm one shouldn't miss it...

Review for delivery from a long bookmarked place.
Had two combos. And it was too much for one person.
The dabeli was clearly the winner.
Everything was very good.
And the combos were very pocket friendly
Bottomline - Really good place. Try it
Very good and ambience restaurant . Staffs are very polite and food are tasty ,Will surely recommend my friends.
I recommend Sona mahare dish.. :)
I have been to this restaurant two years ago when it was kind of new, me and my friends were the only ones there.I loved the food then and couldnt stop talking about it. Today being christmas eve, most of the good restaurants were closed, and then I remembered about this hidden gem. After a round of t nagar bargaining I surrendered here.
The food was amazing! There were more people than you would expect on christmas eve. I had the khaman dhokla which was good, not the best but it was good. I also had the unlimited masalai chai with the sabudana vada which was recommended by the waiter. The chai was amazing, I couldnt stop smelling it. They added turmeric which I love!! The vada was amazing.
Conclusion: Authentic Gujarathi Snacking in Chennai! Go for their unlimited masala chai!
Ordered Aloo Baingan and they give it along with 4 Ghee rotis.. I am a gujarati guy and the ghee rotis and the Aloo Baingan both were fresh and taste was delicious .. The softness of Rotis and the aroma of ghee made me remember my hometown and my mom.. Thanks for the wonderful food .. Must Visit and i am gonna definitely ordering from here very soon again..
My first visit to this restaurant was yesterday for dinner. It was like a hidden jewel. I loved everything about it; but the ambience is something I fell in love with - the yellow lights, the intriguing wall paintings, the furniture...
Coming to food, we (a group of 5) had Thepla, Khatta Dhokla, Palak Muthiya aloo puri, masala tea and Thandai. We loved it. Everything was lip-smacking. A must for all, if not for food, then the ambience (especially the girl on the wall with deep eyes :p )
Service was beyond awesome. Courteous and prompt. We even got complimentary jalebis.
Then why not 5 star? Because the location on google map is incorrect. It is near to Residency Towers but the google map showed it as somewhere near to LifeCell. Also, the variety of dishes may be increased. :)
However, all-in-all, highly recommended!
We went to the place in two minds... Reading mixed reviews and parking woes. Finding the name was easy and they have valet parking. To the food part now. What they have are meals and mini meals, Gujarati versions of it, that is. We began with the steamed platter - the katta and khaman dhoklas, and khandvi were good. Like the Palak Muthiya the best of the lot. Sev tamatar was decent, the variety on the plate for the unlimited thali for 350 bucks seems a little less, compared to Rajadhani. The yellow Jalebis were served warm.
A special lunch with friends after a long tym..We wanted to try this gujarati resturant since a long tym..
We opted for dine out.
We ordered the following for our starters :
Khaman dhokla (4/5) ,it was really fluffy and tasty. My first dhokla .
Khandvi (4/5) , small rolls of 20 pieces which was really good.
Kutchi dabeli (3/5)
Sabudana vada (3.5/5) , This vada is unique with its unique taste of sweet .
Main course :
Bharalo roti with bhindi (3/5)
Puri with madrasi oondhiya (3/5)
Dessert :
Sukhdi (4/5) This was really good it tasted something like urad dal burfi.
They had groundnuts added in all their dishes which made them sweet..
Suggestion : it would be good if they serve variety of chutney for each dish with little spice..
People who tend to eat spicy food must stat away..
Ambience was really great.. It was above the par..one of the finest ambience . their service was also good..
Rupa Mahendran Sorapalli Venkatesh
Good taste and veg platter quantity is more. It was tough for two people to eat the whole platter. And the lassi was good. Enjoyed the experience.
Great Ambience 👍🏻. Not so much crowded place. U can enjoy d food in peace ✌🏻. If v compare it with Gujarat Gujarati food then it was not up to dat level still I would say that vegetarians in chennai could enjoy dat tasty food 🥘
The place was easy to find. They had a nice and cosy set up. However we felt that it was very noisy - just not from the fellow eaters but from the waiters as well. We constantly heard the sound of cutleries and plates around.
The food was awesome.
We ordered for their thali and got sumptuous meal. We just loved their masala kichadi. Didn't like their khadi - it was too lunch sweet for us.
Very Good Gujarati Pure Veg restaurant in near by T.nagar. The atmosphere looking very pleasant to calm our mind.
Reasonable price for unlimited Thaali. The choice of main course and gravy everything is chosen by everyone's so that's much more good to taste based on our wish.
Taste also good but compare with normal Gujarati dishes this place have average taste only as per my personal experience.
Sabudana vada, masala butter milk, dal & pappad are so good but paneer gravy, brinjal potato gravy tastes off.
Over all good place for Gujarati recipes.
Three of us Went for a light lunch on a week day. Ambience is good. Service was in time. We ordered Dhokla, Samosa and thepla paneer roll. All items were served fresh and hot. Liked the taste of all the items served. Samosa shell was a little over baked not filling was very much to our liking. Dhokla was very soft and tasty. Paneer was soft. Overall good. Sharing the menu only as nothing recent was found here.
Really tasty and mild food. Though the price appears high on the menu, the quantity is quite filling and justifies the price. The simple but classy theme is reflected in the food as well as the ambience. Truly beautiful photos of different Gujarati community people adorn the wall. The look has been unaltered from the beginning and it still looks amazing. The menu too has almost been the same. It's an amazing place.
We went a little early I guess it was not at all crowded. We were only there at that time around 6:30. Kachori was too good. And that Sabudhana Vada is also good. Not a fan of khandvi there.
I have been there. Food was really tasty. Authentic food
A cozy little decent place for an evening hangout. The decor, ambience and food menu gives you soothing feeling in case you are homesick and badly missing Gujarat. The staff was well-manneres and friendly as well.
The food tastes good. We tried the fafda-jalebi,sev tamatar-roti and Tuesday thali. Buttermilk was refreshing. It was worth the 25kms we drove to this place.
Would love to visit again.
Excellent Gujarati thali for Chennai citizens/visitors. Service too was prompt. And economical price considering unlimited thali.
Quite good for the ambience and space they have, facing farther than the road traffic.
Lipsmacking Gujarati food, loved their dhoklas and puri.. deserts are a treat here. Go for the combos (which is sorted for every weekday, check the menu in Zomato and plan well ahead to ensure you get your favorite items to a available).. finally tea is amazing..
The ambience is nice and very appealing. If you love Gujarati cuisine or want to try it then this is the place for you in Chennai. Food is really nice and variety is also there. One suggestion, please make your board more visible and correct your location of google maps.
Good food- authentic cuisine that was made on order, and got served hot- a satisfying experience.
The vibrant posters with their native touch made the place feel warm, and the light fittings from older times did add an aesthetic touch to the ambience.
