North East Kitchen - Do you want to try pork first time / last time / or infinite time. This is the dead joint. Any dishes with pork makes you beg for pig. Pork Ribs/ Pork thigh - The pork fat, square cut, with halwa stiffness, border with little bit of meat. When you bite, it dissolves seamlessly. Beware of your weight and wallet. A typical Korean based dishes sorted out in a lick smack way! Tangsuyuk - Fried pork with less oil, dipped in pumkin mashed up up up gravy, with light tint of salt, immersed with Pineapple, Apple, and pears. I never ate a gravy as starter.. This dish makes me! forces me! and begged me! to dot that Orirose - A Korean duck, minced loly loly pieces, a small burner flames in our table, frying duck pieces on its own fat, making aromatic with mustard sauce. Its really new to Tamil tongue. I am damn sure this is one among the authentic small restaurant on recent times.
It was a bliss to escape into this small place and enjoy the traditional north east food and korean food in the midst of chennai.

Actually I don't review much on food or restaurant because I am a chef so I know how thing move on and under the tables. And satisfying me impossible I need perfection in food. This restaurant absolutely serves the delicius of the food that you order. For common man what am saying is if you sit and order and have the food. You will feel like eat real Chinese food in China it'self. You can get the originality of the ambience and food of pan asain cusine. Don't expect local fast food items there. The food will be pure authentic. The price of all the item will be descent.

Serving portions are large. The hospitality is great. The Korean dishes are absolutely delicious. Prices vary but again the large serving portions justify. Favourite place to be in town when you miss home food. North East and Chinese cuisines are also an absolute delight.

Food:
Chicken Thukpa – A wholesome mild-spiced noodle soup with chicken, veggies and lot more of the broth; the meat was slightly crunchy, but the real hero was the veggies. The carrots, bell peppers, cilantro was all fresh with the taste of lotus root dominating the bowl
Chicken Fried Momo – The homemade taste was spot-on in this dish; it was very soft while the crunchiness was only in bits and pieces; it had more of meat and with the chilli dip, this is good.
Special Meal all curry plate definitely has to be the most exotic plate I’ve ever tried,
Mixed veg sprout – Fresh, full of proteins and was sour
Iromba – Spicy mashed potatoes with green veggies, one of a kind
Green leaves – Kind of half-cooked but yes, definitely flavourful
Boiled mix veg – Broccoli, carrot and beans; pretty bland and cold
Kimchi – Spicy radish pickle; was springy with all the flavours
Fried crispy nuts – Kind of sweet, crunchy to serve as THE snack
Chicken curry with Sticky rice – Spicy gravy with soft chicken wings; with the rice, it was definitely on a different level
(Need to try their beef and pork too)
To finish up the meal was a complimentary watermelon which helped to alleviate the spiciness.
Ambience/Price:
This is a decent outlet with good seating space and mall parking facility. There are no complaints about the service, but the price is of concern. Not many would be happy with the Quantity:Price ratio (I personally felt it); can improve on the same.
Love the ambience. The meal set is filling and awesome. The kimbap with pork fried with naga king chillies is the best. Pork Dumpling is also good. Lemon soda is like heaven in summer.

Of all, my favorite was kimchi although it was a little spicy. The staff is very calm and patient. The ambience is not that great. It could be improved a lot. Otherwise, a great place to try korean food.

Let's get straight to the point...
Location: not the typical exclusive place as you would expect most restaurants.. this sits snuggled in a jungle of offices and other eateries. So as you reach the destination, get into the building complex and just ask around.
Ambience: as everyone had already reviewed, it's nothing fancy to boast about but neat enough to sit about 20 people. The people who run the place add a homely feel to it without being dressed as typical waiters or waitresses which I was ok with.
The menu: it's an elaborate one.. so if you can decide beforehand on what you would like to eat it would help your hunger phangs. Because when you reach there and you wait and see the table next to you eat their meal you would run out patience.
What I ordered:
Starters:
pork dry fry with veg: crispy pieces of pork that were drop fried with vegetables. This one was done really well although I should have gone for the semi gravy/ not so deep fried pork as it made the meat too crispy and dry on the inside. But I loved it anyway!!
Chicken fry: pieces of chicken fried to the crisp.. I ordered this for my son so it wasn't spicy.. it's better eaten when hot..
Mains:
Thukpa (chicken and beef): this is the traditional hearty bowl of Tibet which constitutes of ramen noodles, boiled vegetables and biteable sizes of meat that has been deep fried all immersed in a hot spicy soup that brings it all together. If you've got a cold and would like to clear it all at one go.. this is your remedy. I enjoyed this bowl and surprisingly it was enough for me not to want to order anything else for my mains.
P.S: no desserts and only coke/Pepsi is available.
They however let you end the meal with freshly cut watermelon pieces.. which was a refreshing end to a wonderful meal!

I came to visit chennai with my family from Assam and was craving for some northeast Indian food. I was browsing the internet for a good northeast restaurant in chennai and I came across Northeast kitchen which was the right decision taken. The food here was exactly what we were looking for, with veggies and meat adding to the right taste and the food was deliciulous above our expectation. The hospitality shown to us by the staff was great and a big thanks to Mr.Ramayon Keishing for making our experience even much better.
I will definitely suggest all my friends and known people around me regarding this restaurant for a great Northeast / Asian food experience and will definitely give it a visit next time I visit chennai.

Food and hospitality are great. Would have given it a higher ratings as the ambience and decor are not the same quality as the food and hospitality. We ate bamboo fish, pork momos, sushi and a meal. All were extremely good
Love the stir port fry, beef curry with fermented bamboo shoot, the thali.... Simply love it. Only the prices are bit on the higher side but as its yummy food i really dont care about the money spent

Best restaurant to eat. The food is really delicious if you love non veg especially. The price is very reasonable compare to the quality of the food. The service and the hospital is really good. If you are rushing in hungry stomach you can order in advance for the food so that they will prepare in advance since the restaurant has lots of customer all the time. The restaurant is in Wellington plaza. Opposite to Ethiraj women's college.

Well tried this after a north east Indian friends suggestion. The place has a good essence to it. The place is quite and elegant for a small establishment. The menu is mind boggling,there are soo many dishes to try. North East Indian menu and Korean menu. Everything seems interesting aswell.
I had a plate of Pork fried in Naga king Chilli's with a plate of beef fried rice. The serve a few side dish that seems to be common for every customer. This was the best pork I have ever tried after coorg, soo tender and well cooked, the meat full of flavour and aroma. Beef rice was well cooked and plain. Both goes well together. It ended with a glass of sweet and sour lemon juice that gives you the satisfaction. It was soo wholesome that I had to skip my dinner. Will be visiting more often.
This place has a typical Khasi feel to it. Started with roasted peanuts. Ordered the ever-favourite Chicken Thukpa and a Pork Thali.

Went NEK for lunch on a weekend. Started with gimbap, pork belly and smoked pork. I couldn't stop eating the gimbap. Just loved it. Had two plates of it. :D
The smoked pork was delicious. But I didn't like the pork belly, which was just cooked plain. Pork without spices wasn't something I would like.
Next order was chilli beef. The quantity was huge. Filled us up quite well. Just so as to eat a little rice, we ordered OM rice which we didn't regret at all. It was delicious, filling.
Along with the order they place a few side dishes and a small cup of soup.
Went again to NEK the very next day to get gimbap 2 plates and chilli beef two plates parcel. Can't wait to go back again.

North East kitchen is a small and homey place located in Egmore. Nothing great about the ambience as its a very odinary set up. But the food definitely makes up for the lack of good ambience.
We ordered the pork thukpa, chicken ramyun and the beef fried with naga king chillis. Each dish was delicious. Would 100% recommend this place for non vegetarians, but if you are a vegetarian the options are quite limited.

The beef and pork dishes here are really fantastic. You have to try the bamboo shoot variants of the dish. The preparation strongly resembles how you make food at home, is budget friendly and the staff is very friendly.

The staff is very courteous and friendly. Ordered Gimbap and prawn tempura. Both were awesome in taste and even the presentation was great.... For all orders the provide the tradional side dishes such as kimichi, salad, roasted sweet peanuts and 3 other dishes with a soup, which was good. Especially like the kimichi and always finishes the meal with a piece of watermelon 😍. Has become one of my fav places.
It is a small joint amongst a row of multiple restaurants. The place has a very homely vibe and the owners are a delight. They are good with suggestions and quick with service. We had pork everything and it was outstanding. Their combo meals are totally filling and the pork fry with king chili (one of their specialties) is amazing as well.

Hands down, the best place to get incredible pork. The pork NKC that we had was so soft and delicate. Felt as if it melted in the mouth. Ramen with pork was also delicious. Very polite and quick service as well. I definitely see myself going here again. The pork is so worth it.

Amazing Quality food. It was out of the world experience. Try it once and you will keep licking your fingers for your lifetime. Try the Momo's, sticky pork and smoke pork ribs. Don't go by the ambience review ... I being a North Indian was craving like anything. Pls go there and enjoy.

This is my 6th time here. I just absolutely love this place. I haven't had their beef, I've only had their pork since that's the major reason i come here to this place.
The first dish was a special dish that wasn't on the menu.
The second dish was the one with rice, jeyuk dubap. pork that was sweet and spicy with some sticky rice.
The third dish was bosam, my absolute favourite its my third time having the dish. If you come to north east kitchen u must have bosam.
The staff and sweet and understanding and i have absolutely no complaints.

Best place in Chennai to try authentic north east food. For someone who is open minded 😁 to try pork and beef, this is the best place. Smoked pork is just smokinggggg😝. We tried nagachilli beef, smoked pork, pork fried rice, beef with bamboo shoot. Sweet roasted peanuts, plantainpith mash, raddish pickle, some greens and salad are basic. The waiting time is not too long. People are so warm and courteous.

One of the best places to have Korean food with a North Eastern mix. You'll love the place and it'll keep you coming back for more. The staff here are incredibally helpful and kind, ask for a suggestion, they won't t fail to disappoint.
The staff is polite and friendly. The ambience is average. Better lighting and good music can help up the mood and ofcourse add to the ambience. Love the pork/beef thupka and pork and beef nagachili it's absolutely delicious, the quality of their meat is good. It's a go to, healthy, tasty and filling meal for one person at a reasonable price.
The flavours are pretty balanced and the sides are healthy.
8/10 times the food has been good as expected.
I haven't really dug into the menu to share more. The complementary watermelon is great.

I go to this restaurant frequently...If you want to try authentic northeast food; it is the place to have...dry chicken fry with king chilli is a constant starter for me ..momos are also good...I found the taste of chowmin is similar to what we eat in Guwahati which is difficult to find in Chennai...I tried chicken and beef curry both are good ..I especially like the side dish of sticky rice...that saag is really very tasty...I tried fish curry with veggies,which is also good... It is also the best to have pork in Chennai...you can try pork dry fry,pork rib,pork curry...the restaurant is small but the service is good..
Authentic North Eastern Cuisine. Their speciality is Pork and Beef. Be ready for the Naga Chilli kick.
Try their complementary collard green, potato salad and cucumber chilli. A good pallet cleanser.

The food was particularly unique to the dish and no indie made versions with exact food served. Although the place seems low key the food and experience are worth the bucks and of course affordable.

I visited this place by word of mouth from my friend. I used to experiment food always and that’s the main reason I visited NEK.
So the menu setup is completely different, they’ve separate sections for each meat. Why so because there a lot to choose from each section. So being confused and also was here for the first time, I requested the person there to suggest me with their specialties. I was open to all types of meat. So I was recommended for pork.
So as a starter order a dish from pork and that was really really amazing. The way it was cooked and taste was excellent. Actually I didn’t expect that.
Then a beef combo with rice, it was also good but not up to the level of pork.
Also some momos to try. It was amazing. Also they give you some veggies and accompaniments. The place is little small but well maintained.
Overall it’s a very good restaurant where they serve authentic north eastern and pan Asian cuisine at a nominal rate compared to other fancy restaurants.

Pork in your mind today? Look no further...... Apart from the North East Indian cuisine you'll also get some REASONABLY priced Korean food here. No need to break your bank. If you are new to both these cuisines this place can be the best place in town to test your palate. It is very very hygienic and has a calm ambiance. During some specific times of the day you may have to wait for a while before you get a table but that's understandable since everyone is down to have some awesome food with good people serving it to them. I promise, they'd rather maintain the quality and standard of the food than to expand their business and and have more tables. Finally, for the budget loving customers, if you want to enjoy your meal with soft drinks it's better if you bring it yourself from outside, because the only thing I didn't like about this place was the overpriced colas. Other than that, this place may just be your new favourite spot to eat..... Peace!

I just love this place. Best pork in the city. The crispy pork fry was a new find and i m crazy over it. Perfectly cooked and crunchy.
Kimchi fried rice was as usual top notch and so was the naga king chillie pork fry. Try this pork with the kimbap and you will thank me. Must go place .
Do keep in mind that though king chillie is the hottest chillie ever but the food in that comparison is very mild . May be they consider majority of pple who will not be able to eat that spicy. So if spicy is your thing do inform to make the food spicy.

Looks like a common restaurant from outside; but once inside its going to be a completely different story. Parking space is also available.
