Ordered for mini meals, sambar rice was awesome.
Curd rice should be little tasty.
The papad which is got was not crispy since those papads was placed inside the food hence it turned soft. We suggest you to place the papads separately.
Food was packed in a proper way too.
Overall the food was very good.
I normally visit Vadapalani outlet, the place is maintained in a proper way. We appreciate for it.
This order was suppose to reach me in 30 minutes of time were else I reached me before 15 minutes. Thank you zomato for the quick delivery πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ‘πŸ» Keep rocking always.

First of all let me start wishing you guys !πŸ˜πŸ’–
πŸ’₯HAPPY NEW YEARπŸ’₯... and... Happy Eating 🍴

This outlet spreads around 2 floors with ample parking facilities available. Loved the way of the seating they had spacious enough..
Went here for a small eat in the evening and the order was
🍽 Samosa chenna masala and
🍽 Paniyaram Kaara

The chaat was really nice to my liking, because this is such an easy eat that can easily go wrong of a text book recipe. Gladly it didn't πŸ‘Œ
The paniyaram also was good.. Crunchy to the bite ,but i didn't like the sambar side along with it, too watery 😷

I have had a general liking towards GSS ,since the outlet is semma spacious its an instant hit for me.😎

Ambience : Tooo good
Service : Nothing to complain
Taste : Nambi vaanga

It has two levels of dining .... In the first floor the normal dining and in the ground floor ready to eat snacks and chat.

It's at nair road and a good place to park. The snacks here seem to be fresh and some were kept yet to be unpacked.

Good service and no waiting at the counters.

The chat at the entrance may be an attraction bit also has other challenges - like dust and flies.

The first floor is dining and it's a normal below average place

This is my go to place when I am overwhelmed by hunger and I need quick service and decent veg food . They have ample parking space and the ambience is quite decent , it's never too crowded so you can feel at ease when you are dining alone . Their service is lightning quick . Do try their paniyarams , mini tiffin , vadas and coffee . This is one of the very few places in the city which serves pongal for dinner and I am huge fan of their ghee pongal coupled with crispy vada . The sambar is tasty and the chutneys are fresh . P.S please stick to South Indian fare , don't get too adventurous and try their North Indian fare , coz if you do you are likely to regret your decision . When it comes to their desserts , I just love their basundhi and thenga poli ( try dunking the poli in basundhi and eat , it's insanely tasty ) . The pricing is very nominal . Overall a good place if you have a sweet tooth and you want super fast service.

I wonder why Zomato says there is no dine-in option at this Grand Sweets outlet on Dr. Nair road. I have had lunch at this place (on the first floor) several times.

They have a sweet parlour and chaat counter on the ground floor. There is only limited parking space in front of the building. The restaurant upstairs mostly has an office goers crowd. It's packed during lunch time on weekdays.
At the sweet parlour, you get awesome kaaju sweets and other interesting South Indian & North Indian sweets, heavenly potato chips and yum pickles. This is probably the best potato chips in town. They really do melt in your mouth.

The chaat counter serves all varieties of chaats which are quite nice. However, I would recommend the Pani Puri from the chaat place of Ambika Appalam Depot on the same road (opposite side) than from here.

The meals that they serve at the restaurant is very famous in the locality. South Indian meals is only average. North Indian meals is really good. Idiyappam & stew is a killer combination.. It's really nice. One plate of Idiyappam won't be enough for a hungry adult though. Dosas and idlis are very good. Uthappams are delicious. Filter coffee is perfect.

I have not been a big fan of GSS. One of the reasons being that my sweet tooth had latched on to the taste of sweets dished out by adyar anandha bhavan.

Once, i dint have an option and had to dine here. had a good experience and since then have added this to my "go-to-place-when-a-no-nonsense-meal-is-required.

Have had their south indian thali and loved it. huge variety and good quality, quantity. Am attaching a snap of their tempting thaali. At the end of the meal, i feel full and satisfied. Feel a pinch of guilt also when i look at some of the thaali items which i would have left due to my inability of complete the entire thaali.

i have also tried their breakfast items like idli vada, onion uttapam and they were good.

Once tried yellow daal and roti and was satisfied with it.

When there has been just rice at home, have taken vatha kolumbu parcel and liked it quite a bit!

The ambience is quite simple. The place is less noisy and calm. Service is quite good. The waiting time for ordered dishes isnt much.

Overall has been a pleasant experience. This outlet made me reconsider GSS brand and am now a frequent visitor to this restaurant (When it comes to sweets, my loyalty to A2B is still intact though)

My husband showed me the "Review us in Zomato" sticker stuck on the door of grand sweets. Here's the chance to review this age old place which used to be only at Adyar in a very old bungalow but now has spread across the city with many branches and yet maintain the quality as it was so many years ago.

I frequent this place to get the Innumerable podis and the very authentic thakkali thokku and vatha kozhambu paste (ahem to be used when I'm lazy to cook of course). Their Potato chips is THE BEST though it has a tad bit more salt the taste is delicious with the aroma of perungayam in each and every chip. The entire family loves their bombay kaja, suryakala, chandrakala. Oh so crispy and sugary that a donut can never match up to.

The last time we went we tried the chapathi and kurma. Very much homely and fresh. Made right in front of our eyes, they maintain a good hygiene. The white kurma I loved. The mixed rice were also tasty. The bondas, thayir vadas and other snacks on the glass hot shelf all looked so inviting but of course need to save them for future visits.

A good spacious place to spent your evening time with family or friends.Me and my brother loves sweets and a frequent visitors of this place.

And to our surprise for each weekend or for each time we visit there will be a new sweet which looks attractive and also good for pocket

The milk sweets were too fresh and the service was too quick. The chat were not bad, not very authentic but definitely clean.

Overall a clean hangout for snacks

Te prices were slightly higher but worth

Grand sweets now is arguably the best sweets shop in chennai surpassing krishna sweets and adayar ananda bhavan. The first thing attracted me is the size of the place as huge as normal restaurant would be. Which is totally a new concept since we are known to sweet shops very small in size.

The variety of sweets and snacks is just too large that you will end up confused. They really know the authentic way of preparing sweets and snacks, which you can easily make out just by having the Milk payasam. Many think the prices are high, but if you compare with other sweet shops its actually less.

I always go there to have evening tiffin and finish it off with some milk sweet and payasam. I guess its been owned by a brahmin cos they follow the same traditions and you could see lot of brahmins in their outlets.

Overall its a new refreshing place for sweet lovers with huge place to sit and have a snack or a quick grab to take it home. Highly recommended.
