I loved every bit of it. Amazing juicy tandoori chicken. The chutney was good. The biriyani was good too. Paneer fried rice was good with loads of paneer. Loved the whole experience.
The gravy of butter chicken was perfect with Naan. The chicken in the gravy was a bit dry to my liking but still the quantity was enough for 3 Naan's, so I very much appreciate that. Tandoori Chicken had that smoky flavour which is it's hallmark.
We have been ordering from here for years to end the food is ultimate! Their North Indian authentic Punjabi food and also their Chinese is really good
Paneer was absolutely lip-smacking with more than sufficient quantity.
Was surprised to see the pudhina chutney provided for the gravy and hands down, the best green chutney I've ever tasted.
Spl thanks to Zomato for delivering it to my area which is very far away from the restaurant.
Totally an amazing delivery experience
I don’t know about any dishes from here except for their Chicken Lollipop, which is extremely delicious and worth the 300 you pay for it. The flavour is absolutely tasty and portion of the same is also pretty good for 2 people. However, haven’t tried anything else much.
After a really long while we’ve been to such an authentic North Indian restaurant and too glad to have experienced such a delightful cuisine . Amazing blend of spice with Makhan topped up made it a right go for us . Laccha wheat paratha as a combo was a wonderful do . Though I felt that the curry was way too less as compared to chicken pieces , had it been more , it would have just been perfect .
Good food. Orders for hoome delivery.
Reasonably good place for North indian/punjabi cuisine. It is operating in two levels, ground floor and basement. Has a functional ambience and comfortable seating. Food and service good.A little pricey?
Great place for Punjabi style food lovers... We ordered Nizami Kebab which is delicious and juicy... They are maintaining well within the small space.. Will visit again n again...🙂🙂🙂🙂. Foodies from Andhra who are searching for tasty food can visit this dhaba...👍🏻
Thank God for this place. It’s a blessing for everyone who enjoys North Indian food. Best in Chennai. Keep it up, guys!! Butter chicken is fantastic!!
best north indian food in chennai. located in Ispahani mall, they have two floors for themselves. the taste is great and the biryani here is must try too. the service is great and the ambiance is fancy
A great place to for lunch and dinner,,, great ambience and hospitality, with good varieties in menu, we ordered the jaljeera, lemon soda as appetizers which was just fabulous and the starter hariyali kebab which was a top notch, and the roti and naan and there sabji have no words to explain every dish is spectacular, good quantity at good price with a comfortable dinning place,,,
On a whole, a must try place to go with ur family and closed ones!
I'm a huge fan of North Indian food and I've been having a lot of trouble finding authentic North Indian food here in Chennai.
This place offers the best North Indian I've tasted in Chennai. Their Dal makhani and Dum Aloo are delicious. Their Naan and Rotis are soft.
This place made me feel like home.
Being from Delhi. I used to miss the taste of Delhi food a lot. Thats till I came across this place. Has a proper Dal makhani and the achari tikka is heavenly. Only issue is that if you order from this place make repeated request for extra chutney. One small box for and order worth 1500 is being stingy.
Update: Years later only issue remains. Order food worth 300 or 3000. One small box of chutney and small packet of onions is all you get...
Came here for Sunday lunch with my family (3 of us). Started off with a chicken hot and sour soup(2/3), tandoori chicken ( 3 pc ), mutton Boti kabab for starters. Chicken Bhuna(gravy) and 3 Tandoori Roti for main course. We rounded it off with Kheer(1/2) and Rabri for dessert. Bill came up to 1620 INR. Service was excellent. Total VFM. Will visit again!
As of now, we are at the south Indian hub and we had a wish for some north Indian dishes on last Sunday night, I and my wife have decided to visit this place. ...
Based on Zomato review we traveled about 25 km. By the time we reached around 9 this place is super crowded. After we waited about 30 min we got a chance to order.
We order
Cheese Tandoori chicken - 4/5
Shahi Paneer 3.5/5
Lacha, kulcha, and roti (each 1). 4/5
Cheese tandoori is super good. Shahi paneer is prepared uniquely here with white color gravy from kaju.
Ambiance 2.5/5 - nothing great or wrong, everything normal
A portion of food 3.5/5 - enough for the price.
This place was on my radar for a long time being in Egmore for half of my life and still got the opportunity to try this place just today. My order was cheese kebab, butter chicken and wheat Parathas. Amazingly delicious food everything was lip smacking and mouthwatering eager to try out the other dishes . Do check this place out guys worth the wait I guess!!!
I have been here a number of times. This place serves the best Punjabi food in all of Chennai. The food is authenticate delicious sumptuous. The service is prompt. They have a kheer which is extremely mouth watering. Every other dish is equally distinctive and delicious. The portions are large and easily can be consumed by two people.
One of the best places serving north Indian food...it has recently started delivery to all locations...I have visited the restaurant multiple times but have never been disappointed...food quality and taste has always been the best...same was when ordered the food at home... ordered for paneer achari m cheesy Tikka, Chicken Reshmi Tikka ,Dal Makhani and Mirch paratha... everything was excellent...they cheesy tikkas are mouth watering...
Weekend Looking for traditional Punjabi flavor, heard good reviews about this place from zamoto and social media decided to go here, restaurant is small compact size, Service is great and with a lovely pleasant personality , food is very less spicy but really flavorful, Variety is less but the quality of food is good. Both veg and non veg are available at this place. Price wise, it's mid range restaurant neither too expensive nor too cheap. Neat and clean place. Staff is customer friendly
Just loved the food! We ordered Lucknowi Mutton Biryani and Chicken Drumsticks. DAMNNN DELICIOUS. Both of them were fabulous. The meat was well cooked. The amount of spice was perfect. I would definitely recommend to everybodyy!!!
Best family for families to enter. The gravys are very tasty and creamy because of the butter tadka . And the Palak paneer is the best . The tandoori is to be must tried and the naans are very soft and nice.

Good taste and correct time delivery
Been wanting to go there for a while now. Oh boy ! This place did not disappoint. Tried the regular butter chicken with garlic naan and kulcha. Tandoori chicken was juicy , unlike most places which over cook it and it dries out . Ended the meal with some malai kulfi. And if you’re picky about where you eat , opt for delivery .

Excellent food. Simple and tasty. Almost tastes homemade. Good quantity and value for money. Home delivery, packed well, hot and fresh. It helps if you live right across😁 Both veg and non veg equally good. Will definitely be ordering more soon. Outstanding paneer makhani!! Mouth watering!
Babal Da Punjabi Dabha! This place is a pretty old dabha which is been there in egmore, and as their name goes they serve the best punjabi cuisine as far as i have explored.
My review is gonno be about the lookouts and must tries when you visit this place.
1. Cheese Kulcha & Aloo Paratha with Kadai Chicken - The cheese kulcha's are worth dying for , the best of the chef's handiwork , and the aloo paratha's will make you so full to the brim and without the kadai chicken they would be nothing, the perfect punjabi styled gravy with mild spiciness and perfect flavour.
2. Paneer Cheesy Tikka - if you are a cheese lover you should try this for sure, malai paneer tikka loaded with a blanket of melted cheese. A must try.
3. Chicken Garlic kebab- this was kinda nice and different, only drawback was it was a bit too much marinated and not synced i felt, as the masala was breaking down and did not sync well with the chicken. I feel either there was a little flaw in the marination or in the cooking time.
4. Masala Pepsi- when in a punjabi dabha you should never miss on their khatta masala drinks , the best after meal drinks.
The ambience was good , the service can be a little faster i feel.
Overall a best place for some aunthentic punjabi food. A must must try place.

This wasn’t the first time I’ve been here and definitely not the last! Its a slightly pricey restaurant with amazing food!
The ambience is good with enough lighting and spacing. They usually play old hindi songs in background while you dine.
Talking about food, we (2 people) ordered reshmi kabab, Murgh kali mirch, and Punjabi chole as the main course, the kabab was amazing! It was delicious indeed, the chicken and punjabi chole were nice too! We had one lassi each at the end of our meal and trust me you can’t get better lassi anywhere else in chennai!
Overall it was 4.0/5 for me.
To start with I have been here more than a couple of times! Everytime the tomato soup has been the best of all the soups i had! The masala papad was good! The pickled onions they give are heaven. The chicken tikka was good in all aspect. The chicken punjabi was good except that the quantity was bit on the lower side! Everytime the serivce has been good and makes me to go back! One of those constant restaurants for me. The lemon soda that u get here is filled with gas!
Quantity of staters need to be improved, very less and not at all sufficient
Babal Da is a regular place I have been visiting from my school days. The ambience is of a typical 90's style. For starters a must try is their paneer tikka and tandoori chicken. I personally like their dal makini . For deserts a lassi with cashew toppings is a must try. If people are looking for authentic Punjabi food in Chennai, this is a place you can go for.
Excellent and quick service
When it’s North Indian food this place definitely comes in my mind ! This is one of the very few paces that has good Dal makhani and butter chicken! Anyone craving for pocket friendly North Indian food, please do try!
Found this gem in chennai. It served me for a week ! The food is authentic and just so much delicious. I was on a work travel and staying just opposite to this dhaba , ordered so many things everyday. Delicious food and service. Delivery on time as well. A must try for all looking for North Indian food in chennai.
Wonderful food and excellent service been there with mom and friends really enjoyed. Nice ambience and like to go again Thank you Babal Da 😊
wonderful.. awesome loved it...
Great chicken and mutton. 11/10 would order again.
Food was good, tasty and sufficient.
as usual good food and on time :)
Good food, delivery was in time. Quality and quantity was good too. We ordered Kadai Murgh Masaledar and tandoori rotis. Quantity was good enough for two people.
Good food and in time delivery. Quality of food and quality was good too.
So this review is based on my last couple of visits over the last 2 years.
Located in a complex opposite to Abu Saruvar Hotel in Egmore
The interiors of this place is simple and they have adequate space to accommodate enough people
, as they seating option available in the basement as well
I have tried their Tomato and Manchow soups, both of them were thick and creamy
For starters there are lot of varities in panner tikka and seekh kebab, definitely recommended
In Mains you can go with anykind of panner gravy, my personal favourite being paneer tikka masala and kadai paneer
Dal makhani is heavenly
If anyone is looking for something in white sweet gravy try Navratan korma or malai kofta, rich and creamy
Food is served pipping hot and rich in nature
For non veg, I have heard heap of praises from my fellow colleagues
In breads you can go ahead with kuclha, naan or roti, all are good
Punjabi lassi, kheer and rabdi are certainly the choices for dessert
The service is decent enough and pricing is pretty economical
So if you are craving for authentic north Indian Punjabi food, do try this place.
tasty and wholesome food. thanks.
delivered before time! awesome!
All of those craving for some real north indian food - visit this place. Not for the interiors or its location, but purely for its food , this place has the taste a dhaba in north india gives !
Good food and very timely delivery
This small restaurant in the heart of the city features in Zomato's Flavors of the North collection. The Ambience doesn't quite have the Punjabi dhaba feel. But the food more than makes up for it. The sirka (vinegar) ke pyaar, green chutney, masala papad, the juicy Tikkas all remind you of the Punjabi dhabas. Love their Tikkas especially lahsuni and reshmi. Lassi is also great. But the place is too small and cramped for space. Wish they could work a bit on their Ambience.
Food:4/5
Service: 4/5
Ambience: 3/5
Overall: 4/5
Went to this place famished, not having eaten even a single morsel of food. We were a group of 3 people and all of us have a capacity to eat a horse ( jk :p ). We ordered two starters, chicken reshmi kabab and chicken nawabi kabab. They both tasted simply out of this world, melting instantaneously in the mouth. In the main course, we took a spl dal makhni, malai kofta, and chicken punjabi. It was all fabulous and the dal even overshadowed the taste of the other two dishes. And to top it of, we took a lassi each, which was absolutely authentic and filling. It won't be lying when I say that this was the best north indian food I've had in Chennai in the past four years. WOW!!! 😍😋
P.s. i would also like to mention that their service was absolutely top notch, with not even one minute between the order and serving.

Real taste of Punjab!! The ambience was great. Playing background old Hindi songs. Tried for lunch. Different taste. The price is a little high. Recommended!!
The ambience of the hotel is definitely one of its highlights. The overall decor and atmosphere are very inviting and create a comfortable and pleasant environment for guests. Whether you're looking for a cozy spot to relax or a vibrant place to socialize, the hotel's ambience has got you covered.
The service at the hotel is also commendable. The staff are friendly, courteous, and go out of their way to ensure that guests feel welcome and comfortable. They are quick to respond to any requests and are always willing to provide helpful recommendations and advice.
The food taste at the hotel is another strong point. The dishes are expertly prepared, with a delicious blend of flavors that will satisfy even the most discerning palate. Whether you're in the mood for something sweet or savory, the menu has plenty of options to choose from.
However, the one area where the hotel could improve is in the preparation of sarso ka saag. While the dish was tasty, it didn't quite meet your expectations, and there is certainly room for improvement in this regard.
Overall, the hotel is definitely worth a visit, with its welcoming atmosphere, exceptional service, and delicious food. While there is always room for improvement, the hotel's many strengths make it a great choice for anyone looking for a relaxing and enjoyable experience.
We came from Nellore, Andhra Pradesh to Chennai for personal work. This way my second visiting in this Punjabi Restaurant🏯 We visited the restaurant for lunch timing🕑. If your interested in North Indian food you can choose this restaurant. There are varieties of North Indian dishes. Good ambience... Really nice..😋😋
If you're craving for some Punjabi food this is the place to go. Their kekbas are amazing. Must try is the chicken tangidi kekbab, chicken cheese tandoori, mutton sheekh kekbab and don't forget their malai lassi and mango lassi. Price is reasonable as well.
Babal da Punjabi Dhaba is an excellent place to try Punjabi food. The place is small but with a large heart. The atmosphere is not upto the mark but sure is a clean place. The staffs are ok and don't disturb us or push us for inflating the bill. The place is not cheap but menu pricing is reasonable. The interior needs a professional touch urgently.
Every customer comes here based on recommendations. Their food is almost top notch. We ordered Aalu Mutter and Panner vegetable curry both were excellent but the gravy almost tastes the same. The Naan and Rotis where fluffy and hot. We could easily polish off both the curries in a few minutes. I must say that they have not moved away from what the Dabhas have been doing. If one miss dabha food then this is the place to go.
The service is reasonably fast and efficient. We got our order within ten minutes and our second order also was equally fast. Though I did not try the non vegetarian. We got a bill of 800 odd and it was bang for the buck I paid. I can say for sure that it would be excellent. Let me assure you guys that this place is worth a visit.
Still think it's one of the best Dhaba's in Chennai. Been coming here since 2008. Love that they haven't changed much and still have their signature ambience which made me feel nostalgic. Food still tastes great.
The place has a real vibe!! Rusty(unique) and antique ambience just like old times(90s period). The service was absolutely amazing! The food here was literally one of the best I've eaten in my lifetime! Everything was really great! The server really had a great attitude at serving the dishes which brightened the meal :)
It was a great choice when we had a confusion of our 2022's last team dinner together ❤️ I'm a big fan of their Butter Naan and Tandoori 😍 But this time, tried new dishes. Their Non veg Tandoori Platter was Awesome to the hell 💥💥😋 Panneer Makhani and Butter Naan were tooooo good 🤩😘 Finally, here comes the Punjabi Lassi 😍 You are lit 💥🔥 One of the best decisions of this year choosing this restaurant again 😌
This was my first time visiting a proper Punjabi restaurant. The butter naan was not soggy and light on the stomach. The butter chicken was soo good !! One the best I've ever tried. Their service was top notch. The food arrived pretty quick.
Mutton boti kebab: The meat was so soft. The mint chutney they give you is very different. It is thick and has a slight sweetness to it.
Butter chicken masala: Delicious! Boneless chicken pieces in a sweet gravy will make you drool.
Garlic naan: I loved their naan. But they could reduce their oil used in the naan.
Punjabi lassi: a perfect end to the meal. Sweet and cold, it will quench your thirst in this hot weather.
Must try Barbeque chicken in starter & Chicken bhuna in main course.
In the end go for punjabi lassi also.
Service & ambience are all good.
Weekend Looking for traditional Punjabi flavor, heard good reviews about this place from social media decided to go here, restaurant is small compact size, Service is great and with a lovely pleasant personality , food is very less spicy but really flavorful, Variety is less but the quality of food is good. Both veg and non veg are available at this place. Price wise, it's mid range restaurant neither too expensive nor too cheap. Neat and clean place. Staff is customer friendly
Great place with great food. They are the authentic Punjabi cuisine found in Chennai. Cozy restaurant and great place to enjoy with family and friends
It looks to be a busy place. We were first seated at the basement. However we found it quite stuffy and the service seemed slow. We then asked to be shifted on to the main floor which had a waiting time but we were ok with it. The service did seem quite faster on the main floor.
The chicken tandoori is too good along with the dal makhni. I couldn't get enough. We tried the punjabi chicken curry and that was very good. The paneer kulcha was delicious! The tandoori roti and butter naan roti was good too. But too much butter after a point. Try the sweet Lassi. Definitely going to be one of the regulars.
Doesn't really have parking so arrive ahead to find a good spot.
Update - have been a regular here for the past year. Atleast once a month. A huge fan of their chicken lollipop
It is a nice place to eat. Very good atmosphere and budget friendly. Service was also up to the mark
