Nice place to hang out. The french fries were really tasty. Pizza was not so bad and it didn't fill my stomach. The spaghetti was good 😊😊 And coming to the monster shake .. it was the BEST! It looks so lovely and tastes sweet. But the cost of the shake was 500₹. But I would say it is worth it. It had Oreo biscuits, whipped cream of chocolate flavour, gems, choco sticks. There were choco pieces inside the glass too. Overall, a good place.

It is said not to judge a book by its cover. Downton cafe lived up to this saying. Good ambience and awesome delicious food. Added bonus points to the cafe open timings. All foody night owls can add another place to their list of places to get food late night in Chennai.There is still room for improvement to make the place more comfortable. Small chairs make it a little uncomfortable. Overall a highly satisfied meal.

Once the best cafe near Bessy, downtown is the go to place for the malayali in me whenever I visit Bessy. Ordered kheema fries, beef steak club sandwich and coco basa along with green apple fresh juice and sunshine fresher smoothie. The kheema fries was one of the best putine I have had in Chennai. The club sandwich was good but the Coco basa was not consistent to the usual taste and was a let down. The ambience and the warm staff still made my day
Service and maintenance is no longer what it used to be. Some of their tables shake when subject to weight. Took them about 10 mins to come down and take my order. Their bakery seems to be empty. The food is still not bad though, hence the 3.5.
Downtown cafe, no doubt has a beautiful ambience and it’s definitely a place to head down to if you wanna hangout with a bunch of friends. However, the food, despite being tasty on its own, it didn’t match up to the expectations that was created from the menu. Plus the service was a little delayed making the entire experience only about satisfactory. But I believe this cafe has potential, if they tweak their dishes in the right manner, it would be a delight to dine here!
Downtown cafe is a small neat place. We ordered a chicken sausage sizzler and and a chicken lasagna and both of them were wonderful. The service provided was very responsive. My only suggestion is for them to redesign their menu because it seemed really cluttered and was difficult to read.
This cafe is easily noticeable on the left side when one goes on the route to Elliot’s beach. The place inside is really good especially the sofas are so good inside. Certain food items cost economical and some are really costly. I am giving 3.5 stars because it says the shop is open till 3am in the morning and I was asked to leave at 11.30 pm itself and they canceled my cappuccino saying the milk is no more. Either they can make sure they don’t go out of food products or change there closing time as 11.30

They should work on the following three dimensions, keeping in view that such type of cafes customers look for ambiance rather than a meal to fill their tummies:
1. The garnishing: as of now they don't appear to following anything in this regard
2. Appropriate music in appropriate decibels: High bass in that small space annoyed us to which we asked them to lower.
3. Proper serving etiquette. The people on service were really of good demeanor but only that does not suffice. They should know how to arrange the dishes on the table in a bare elegant way.

Visited the place just to get something light and quick. Ordered Hazelnut Cappecunio and Dry Fruit Smoothie. Smoothie was indeed good, however, the cappecuino was not as strong as I wanted so I asked whether they could fix it. And the staff agreed immediately and in few minutes they got me another one with perfectly blended as I asked. I was really impressed by the gesture and appreciate the hospitality. In terms of ambience, the place is quite nicely decorated and utilised given the space occupied. Thumbs up!!

It has amazing interior. It's feels good in there. They have several options in menu, from smoothies to snacks! And you can find something different there. They have lot of varieties. I ordered a drink known as OMA and fries. I liked the drink. The place is good to conduct meet ups. They have such an interior where people can talk. It's a bit expensive though but a nice place.

Had dinner there with my boyfriend's parents for his mom's birthday and it was an amazing experience. One of the staff members must have heard us talking about the birthday and they offered us a complimentary pastry even when we never told them about the birthday explicitly. About the food: veg Quesadilla was great, loved the pasta with pesto, and the DT special pizza. The only problem was that the corners in veg lasgna were not covered with sauce, making the pasta sheet dry and rather tough to eat. Other than that everything was great.

This is one good restaurant in Besant Nagar.This is my third time to this restaurant after two visits almost a year back.The place looked exactly the same, dim-lit with a beautiful decor and wooden furniture.Sets a good feel. And the service is warm.
Our orders :-
1.Chicken nuggets- Not the excellent but average.
2.Lime mint- typical coriander pulp with a slight hint of lime.
3.Mexican Chicken burger- Good, Chicken was well cooked and had a pepper taste to it.
4.Chicken steaks- Well the steaks tasted same as the patty in the burger.But was just fine.
5.Chicken stoganoff with herb rice- Pretty much average.Cooked perfect but the taste wasn't as expected.
6.Real American- My favourite Oreo milkshake. No disappointment.

This cafe has a great ambience. Have tried chicken bbq steak, tuna bagel melt burger and beef steak for mains and they were all really good. Tuna bagel melt was my favourite. Fish fingers was okaish. The watermelon and strawberry iced teas were really good. Staffs were helpful.

If you're anywhere around the Besant Nagar area, I'd surely recommend you this restaurant if you're in the mood for some delectable continental food. The seating makes you feel comfortable and the ambience in general is pretty laid back. The menu offers almost all the regular continental fast food items you'd want to have. I ordered a Chicken burger along with a cold coffee. The cold coffee was a right blend of sweet and bitter and was indeed very refreshing. The chicken burger was one of the best I have had in Chennai - the bun was soft and fresh, the chicken patty was succulent and the lettuce seemed fresh too. To top it all, nothing fell out of the burger as I digged into it and there was no mess absolutely.

Downtown cafe is one of my favourite places in Besant Nagar. The ambience is beautiful and is a perfect spot for hanging out with friends as well your loved ones.
Food : They have a widespread menu so the options are plenty. My favourite is their Oreo Shake which is served in a really tall glass, the first time I had it I was blown away, it was only after this experience I started trying oreo shake elsewhere. The tender coconut icecream milkshake was okay, being the keralite I am I really wanted to try this one, I dint quite like the flavour of the icecream, I expected it to be like the tender coconut milkshake we get in Kerala. I also liked the Garden Fresh pizza, so colourful and the very sight of it will justify its name, I am sure this one will be a treat for the vegetarians out there. The sizzling brownie was good as well, but the caramel was too thick to be handled. Overall this is a great place to spend your evening.

The food is extremely fresh..to top it, it has Very good ambience & amazing service.. overall, must visit place! The only downside is since it is centrally located, parking is a concern! For us two friends bill was about Rs. 1285 in which we had this hot saucy BBQ wings ( 6pieces ) , in drinks dry fruit shake and peach lemon ice tea , both served in big glasses (enough for 2 each glass) , with this we had 2 burgers one as chicken mexican burger (slight spicy) and other was DT special chicken (which i didn't find that good , was not spicy little blant) . Food is good worth the money and the service is Awesome :)

Comes in the must visit list. This place serves amazingly amazing food and the best place to hang out with friends and can go in as couples too. Their have a very good ambience nice calm cool and the interiors are seriously awesome and
it is located in besant nagar you want anything more than that only issue is the car parking as there is no proper parking space so gotta go in search for parking your car.
This place actually serves great smoothies so any time your want a smoothie just hop in to downtown and grab one.
The best from my try outs is the dry fruit shake OMG that was too awesome and you will be almost full if you just drink it by ur self so I would recommend to share it rather than having just a smoothie if your up for grabbing some food too

Set amidst the soft calming serene of Besant Nagar. Downtown cafe has been quite in the rumors for a long time.
As soon as u enter the cafe, you feel a warmth in your heart as the place is absolutely beautiful.
We ordered the DT signature pizza as the staff there told it was the best selling one. I must admit, it was really mouth watering with those cute little cherry tomatoes and basil. The chili fries had an amazing hint of garlic and parsley with loads of chili flakes. The penne ducale was a absolute hit as the sauce was creamy and chessy to taste. Last but not least the underdog of all, spring rolls. Light and crispy.

Great place to have continental food. Especially the burgers, which are exceptionally soft. One drawback was that we couldn't use our card and we were forced to use cash. But that shouldn't a problem which persist for long. Would love to visit again.
The place is good for get together. We get game boards and books if bored. The food is awesome. The steaks they serve was well cooked and delicious. The coffee they serve has a nice distinct flavour. A good place to hangout.
