Chicken Biryani 🍚 is soo yummy.. Finger licking taste.. Price might be quite high but acceptable in front of taste. Located in prime venue. Must visit especially for biryani lovers.
Parota with spicy MUTTON CHUKKA, chicken pepper masala. chettinadu type food u can try here. #parota #muttonchukka #juniorkuppana #chettinadustyle
This place is good for those who crave for spicy South Indian foods. Well known for its biriyani we went for lunch the place s quite buzzy even on week days ambience and service was quite good. The mutton nd chicken pieces in d biriyani is perfectly cooked moist nd tender which is accompanied by d gravies nd masala mutta is relish🤤nd the 65 tastes good nd the soft layerd parathas were drooling overall good experience but quite expensive
We had lunch over here. The food is good.it really loved the biriyani.Parotta was osm.But the ambience was a bit boring.service was also good.

We hit this place for early lunch on a weekend. Glad it was not crowded. Ordered the nonveg meals. Service was fast initially, but we had to ask for extra sambar and rasam, as its not included in the original serving. Kothu parotta was good in taste and quantity. As the crowd increases, service becomes slow. The chicken, mutton and fish curries are really good, but asking for refills becomes a pain because their serving is small. Overall, great taste but more on the expensive side.
Their south Indian specialities are mouth watering always.... They ensure their quality along with the quantity they give which is not hurting our purse 👍 but in recent days I would only give rare visit inspite of being their regular customer concerning to their ambience. They must concern about their outer ambience equally to their inner ambience in rare scenarios giving a displeasure 😑 they deserve 5 overall😍😍😋 but my rating just for ambience. If they change for a better location it would really give an excellent experience for everyone 👍
We were a group of 8 people had dinner here
They got enough parking space for two wheelers in front of the restaurant 👍. Restaurant is located underground and ambience is nothing worth mentioning.
Food ordered: we ordered individually and shared between us. I ordered kal dosai, Chicken Pallipalayam and Kongu naadu chicken gravy
Chicken Pallipalayam - Soft chicken pieces cooked with very less home style spices along with cut coconut pieces and red Chillies, by far the best Pallipalayam dish I have tasted 👌👌
Kongu chicken gravy - Succulent chicken in thick and mildly spicy gravy tasted delicious with hot and spongy kal dosa 👍
I tried Kudal gravy with Idly it was the highlight of the visit 👌👌everyone in our group liked kudal gravy.
Service was below average 👎👎 everytime we had to wait longer for a waiter to come take orders/repeat orders. Service definitely need to be improved here.
Price - we paid 2852 rupees overall. The amount spent here is worth for the food 👍 but not for the service 👎
Went there for lunch with my friend on a Sunday. We ordered -
Mutton Briyani - The briyani tasted good. There were lots of mutton pieces in it which were cooked well. The rice was fluffed and not sticking to each other.it had a heady aroma to it.It was medium spicy.
Mutton Nalli Fry - It is with bone. The proportion of the meat to the bone favoured the meat. For the cost of 250 rupees they gave 5 pieces. It was medium spicy.
Nethilli Fish Fry - It is anchovies fish.It is finger sized. It was crisp and crunchy. It was adequately spiced. You can eat it as it is with the bone in it.
Parotta - It was nice and fluffy. The gravy which came with it had butter in it and it tasted heavenly. This is a must try dish here.
Overall had a good experience and will visit this restaurant again in the future.
Junior kuppanna is my all time favorite. Had been there around 2 to 3 times. Also I use to order food from home. They serve authenticated non vegetarian food with their taste based on North Tamil Nadu.
The #1 dish is obviously the seeraga samba mutton briyani. I bet you can't find such a well cooked rice with tender mutton in any other briyani around the city. They serve mutton gravy (kuzhambu) along with briyani which elevates the taste of briyani.
#2 dish is Naatu kozhi pepper fry. Surely a mouth watering dish. Fried with green curry leaves and onion and pepper adds to the taste of soft chicken.
In all other dishes i tried like mushroom 65, mushroom briyani, chapathi, naatu kozhi masala etc., I could feel the perfection from the taste of their dishes. I recommend this place to people who miss their home made non vegetarian gravy, and for those who are sick of the North Indian type non vegetarian dishes. Cost is a bit high, but it serves the purpose.. Do enjoy once...
This is the first time and loved the taste of food especially briyani was so good made of seraga samba rice and pallipalayam chicken was also good bt nthg special others also where good in quality and taste.. At last coming to the price and quantity.. Cost is bit higher and the quantity is very very less....over all taste is good... quantity is less... Cost is plays a game with taste and quantity 😂😂😂😂😂😂

Trully Tamil Nadu! the taste is good and the place serves you quickly. the price may seems to be little high comparatively. We have wait for the table in weekends!
The traditional banana leaf experience. Nice intro to authentic Tamil cuisine. Quick service and friendly staff. Good spread of vegetarian and non vegetarian options.
It is the best place to have south Indian non-veg food.
Must try: tiffen items like idly ,kal dosai with any non veg gravy, Nattukozhi fry, Mutton biryani.
Mutton biriyani was awesome with boneless pieces which were perfectly cooked with spices, and they also give option of basmathi rice or seeraga samba rice but I felt their quantity was quite less for the price though the taste was good.
Those who don't like Chinese sauses used in food and North indian gravies, JUNIOR KUPPANNA is YOUR DESTINATION as they use only fresh indian spices.
Cons: The restaurant is in underground with around 10 to 12 steps but there is no lift. Elderly people feel difficult to take the stairs
Must try restaurant .
Items ordered: 1) Mutton Biryani 2) Mutton Pallipalayam 3) Egg vechu parotta
Sorry, forgot to click pictures!

good authentic biriyani ! loved it , my grandma loves this place , that was the first time she was fully satisfied , thank you junior kuppanna
One of the nice places to go for good non veg food. I took few friends from Pune and had Mutton Biryani along with mutton chukka , Fush Chukka, Prawn fry and one of us had Veg Special meals..... it was all wonderful lunch. Every thing was great. No complaints... Except we could not get Nethili Fry as it was over by the time we ordered.
Will always reccommend them for quality non veg food.
Chicken Meal#Mutton clear soup# fried chicken waw asome food, good pricing..... whenever I visit Chennai my distination for lunch would be this restaurant....
I could have given 5 star rating but the service is slow u need to call the server asking when next order is coming..
Highly recommended for good food & taste.
Service need to improve
Will visit again...

The place is situated underground but can be easily spotted. Move to the service lane to avoid any hassle. They have valet parking service as well. Interior is not that great, very normal . Reserve a place nearer to the AC if you need more air. Coming to the food, we had moolai which was really well cooked and had the aunthentic village side tatse. Veechu parotta was too good. The free gravy given as side dish is quite spicy and suits the veechu parotta. Biryani is not made with basmati rice , but still good. This is not the place for chicken 65 it was more like Chicken dipped in bajji masala. Idiyappam amd kal dosa were also equally good. The pallipalayam chicken and fish are always a must try given to thier flavour and tatse.
My all time favourite restaurant!!
Their Briyani and Parathas are to die for! Such an awesome ghee loaded dishes they're. But the quantity is very less. Their gravies both veg and non veg they serve is so heavenly that you'll certainly fall in love with that. I go to an extent that I even slurp the gravy alone. 😍
In the desert segment also their payasam is yummilicious! ♥👌
Price : little higher
Worth : VFM
Incredibly underrated this restaurant in my opinion ! I love their style of briyani...smaller rice...oily and spicy in just the perfect mix ! the chicken flesh also is quite tender and juicy....hats off to the cook and his/her team !
Definitely try their briyani and chicken chukka !
Went here by a happy accident.
Good South India style food.
Seraka Samba Biryani was a favorite.
Good non veg options with a punch to the taste.
Must try.
Biryani was very good!!
Kothu parota!!
Paal payasam!!
All were good!!!
Really like their service!!
Had a great time with the family!!
Good place to visit with family!!
Egg parottas are really nice and different here....I am a resident from Madurai and trust me egg parottas are really nice here..... have a happy day
Good and delicious for non vegetarian,s...i have visited this place with family... It's a good place to eat.. Quality of food and taste is amazing... I have tried biriyani and non veg meals... Those who want a good non veg meal can go to kuppanna... We also tried side courses which is also good in taste...
Price is little bit higher...
Ordered Mutton Biriyani, egg veechu barota and now nonveg meals.
Rating based on taste :
Mutton Biriyani 5/5
Egg Veech : 4/5
Non veg meals :4/5
Quantity wise biriyani was not enough for 1 person . I feel quantity has to be increased. I hear from many of my friends who tell that quantity is less but taste is good. I too feel the same. Quantity is much lesser than what other restaurants provide. If quantity of biriyani is increased then it will be very good.
We headed here for a late dinner !!! And the food here was sooo damn good !!!! Even the veg kurma and kal dosai tasted way beyond expectations !!! Great place ❤️
Took my family for dinner , had Idli, chicken curry, meat was succulent. We ordered nalli and pallipalayam chicken, both were yummy. Service was good.
We actually want to feast on grill ministry butttermilk in annanagar after our temple visit. But grill ministry was name changed and lost its charm.hence we went in jr.kuppanna.
Ordered half chicken briyani
Idly
Egg kothu parota
Erode dosa
Nothing to complain xcept that they can increase the briyani quantity. I agree its half but it was given in a tiny plate:(
I feel the highlight is banana leaf and friendly waiters.
Will visit one more time to taste some of their specials.
The key to having a hearty dining experience is know what to order where. Not all items in a restaurant would be lip smacking. But if you know the particular thing they are good at, you could enjoy much more. But this intuition comes from a lot of trial and error over the years. In that way, i would give junior kuppana top class rating.
Their service was good.
Majority of items are good.
I used to try out my favourite personalized combo.
Mutton biriyani + Raitha(it's amazing here) + parotta + gravy.
Parotta here so soft like a sponge. Wrap it in a chunk of biriyani, douse it with gravy and raitha. Taste it. I'm sure you will be awestruck. Thank me later!
Go here just for the food and nothing else. No frills just simple tasty food. These days they don't use credit or debit cards so a heads up for that. I went for a quick lunch, just at the entrance it was a bit stinky. By the time we went to our seat (maybe we got acclamatized) it was okay. They got a us a banana leaf as a plate which is a good idea. We ordered for chicken chukka which was just like home made chicken which we crave all the time. Paraotha was made up of maida, nice and fluffy but oily. Fish 65 which was I think basa fish, (I don't prefer this fish) so it was okay. Chapathi were nice and soft. Chicken biryani which was perfect melt in mouth and nicely spiced. The bill came to 1000/- which was not bad at all.
a good choice of restaurant for traditional Tamilian food lovers.. i have tried few dishes here and all were worth the try. i would suggest the following dishes..
1. mutton briyani
2. chicken briyani
3. chicken pallipalayam
4. chicken anda fry
5. kari dosai
6. semiya payasam
food is bit expensive but the quality of food is worth the money spent. good hospitality and ambience varies from branch to branch.

One of the best place to eat in noon time.
Best menu in this hotel is Mutton nalli fry and nethili fry.
The rices also good in taste I love mutton curry and fish curry.
One of my favorite dish is egg kalaki.
Biriyani also good in taste but quantity is less compared to price..
The place has a quiet busy ambience.. The service was good and the staff was sensitive to the customer needs. The chicken biryani was great, so was the gravy. The meals came with 5 accomplishments and looked delicious. The quantity was not huge.. But the meal was satisfying. A must try place
Erode to Chennai.
HJK is one of the top legendary brands in Chennai. Having been in the industry for a very long time they know what people want most. My experience gave me the feeling they're not too much about being fancy but rather providing the customer with good tasting good quality products.
Ambience : Very basic. Give you a mess feeling. Low budget not very expensive seating style.
Food : Non veg meals and omelette with a hockey curry.
Meals was perfect. I love Kumarakom meals but this was maybe a little better. Simple because they have an option for Non Veg meals.
Meals included chicken, Mutton and Fish gravies which was superb to have with rice.
Omelette was spot on.
Chicken curry was average. Wish it was more gravy but still not bad at all.
Service : Prompt. Anything you require would be brought fast. Water was filled to brim always.
Negative exception : Taps weren't working and hand wash was a bucket and mug system. Not happy with that for hygienic reasons.
Wish they had more interesting products. When you have good food what's the next step? Maybe bring out new items and try something different ?
I've been here few times , but first time reviewing it here . The last time I ordered for naatu kozhi soup , chicken biriyani, boneless chukka and boneless 65 . The taste of the food was really good except the quantity of the soup .
They are the best for dindugul style seeraga sambha biriyani. Mutton pieces are so tender and juicy and rice flavour is amazing. They provide the authentic dalcha served in Dindugul shops.
Their menu is limited but everything is up to the mark.
Decent service. A must try!
+ Food is good though a bit costly
- (Negative feedback)This point is deleted by me because they have not responded so far, probably they are not aware of this type of reviews..
dear Junior Kuppanna please do something..
- there is a steep walk downwards in stairs so it's difficult for elders and weak people to get in the restaurant
- The good thing is that that keep a transparent glass for the kitchen but (- (Negative feedback)This point is deleted by me because they have not responded so far, probably they are not aware of this type of reviews.. )
- again here the a/c air conditioning makes the food chill in minutes so it's hard to enjoy the food and eat :( :(

Dear guys do some changes and reply this review I'll surely change/modify this review.

Best ever biriyani in town. Very authentic taste of Madurai, Dindigul style served with perfect accompaniments. I'm not a great fan of their meals though.
Love all their starters, especially their vanjiram fry, naadu kozhi fry and chicken leg.
Strongly recommend this place for authentic biriyani lovers.
Went here for dinner -last minute plans..!! Close to my place..!!
The place is located in a basement, not all the AC's were switched on when we went in and it was bit stuffy in there.. Also the place was absolutely very noisy (we were seated close to the kitchen door)..
The service was very quick and very polite..!! Ordered the Vanjaram Fish Tawa fry for starters - it was too good.. For main course ordered a number of items right from Erode Uthappam (Kal Dosai), Parotta, Idiyappam, Erode Dosai and Chappathi.. Shared by 4 of us and tasted all of it..!! For Gravy to go with ordered the Naadu Chicken Gravy.. Too spicy and too good..
Just the perfect South Indian Non-Veg food that one can ask..!!
Overall,
Food - 4.5/5
Service - 4.0/5
Ambiance - 3.0/5
Value for Money - 4.0/5
Love eating here, been there twice and order chicken kothu parotta, its taste was awesome and still going there to have it.Cost is bit costly and biriyani's were extraordinary.A nice ghee smell comes from all those biriyani :) very nice place for non veg lovers.very crowdy during weekends.
ambience-4/5
taste-5/5
We have ordered chicken Fry , 2 chicken biryani and two parota with Kurma.
Taste wise no complaints as biryani is authentic style . Chicken Fry also spicy and nicely fried. Best of all is parota with Kurma . Kurma taste is excellent.
Biryani priced at 130 rs and quantity is really small. Also we could find only one small piece of chicken . If you are looking for quantity, please avoid this.
Parota is value for money .
So my rating is as under
for taste : 4/5
Quantity : 3/5
Overall value for money - 3.5/5
ordered mutton biryani and kalaki many times frm this outlet,so cant comment on the ambience and service of this place.both the dishes tasted good.will try their other dishes in coming visits
First time visiting the outlet.. had a pretty decent experience..
Order -
Chicken Biriyani
Khuska
Chicken 65
Egg Veech
The Biriyani tasted really good. Perfect blend of spices.. the chicken was a little overcooked. Chicken 65.. nothing great. Tasted okay. Egg Veech tasted good.
Overall, the taste and quantity of food was good and sufficient for a good hearty meal.
Cleanliness of the place needs to improve.. there was bits of garbage beneath the seats. We had to inform the manager and change our table. The person cleaning the table was a bit lazy.. he dropped leftovers all over the floor and didn't clean the table properly.
Loads of scope for improvement!
I'm a parotta lover and I'm not ashamed to say it and what I had here was just mind-blowing!! The chicken curry I had with this was just perfect as was the fried fish and chicken dosa. I mean, yummy in my tummy!! Loved it and will definitely want to try more of that parotta!!
Never had a chance to review this place and it doesn't even need one , cuz every one knows how good they are . This place is mentioned as an legendary restaurant and no wonder they have mentioned it . This place is located exactly opposite to seashell and next to nallas appakadai. Parking over here won't be that tough unless your planning to visit during the week ends . And coming to their food , just order the the south Indian dishes alone . Don't go fancy and order any Chinese . Every non vegetarian dish mentioned In the menu would tastes great . Ive tried their parota which is crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside and the gravy goes perfect. Their biriyani also tastes great but on draw back is less in quantity. Their chicken pallipalayam is an average but their fish chukka goes great . Coming to the price their little too pricey but totally worth it . A must visit place for those who love meat or south Indian food
An awesome place to eat yum South Indian cuisine. Even though this isn't the original branch, the food quality and taste is on par with the T Nagar outlet. Do try out their biryani, chicken chukka and mutton nalli fry. The flavours and taste are very authentic and good. Even the raitha and gravy they serve along with the biryani are delicious. The only minus I always ve with this place is their quantity of food which is very minimal for their extravagant pricing. Otherwise, a must visit place once in a while.
Excellent place for good non veg food.. Not only that I like their ocncept of half biriyani which helps you try other main dishes as well ..
It may sound like a non veg joint and I dont know why they have positioned it like this. Their veg meal is awesome - taste, variety, cleanliness plus plus
Gud place...tasty and hygienic..wat else one expects out of a family eatery.
The reason for -1 is bcz much of the mutton items were not available on a sunday evg..which really disappointed my family members.
We had kari dosa, egg veechu, kothu parota, roti, kal dosa, idly, chkn lollipop, pepper chicken..The chicken kothu parota demands a spl mention...it was too gud to my expectation.
For the past 4 or 5 years all I've done is overlook this place. Until recently I wasn't even aware that Junior Kuppanna had as many as 12 branches as shown on zomato!
Located right opposite to Seashell, this place offers some hard core non veg dishes that aren't always available elsewhere.
We had the following :-
They serve everything on banana leaves.
- Mutton biryani - Its not done with basmati rice which is a disappointment to most but taste wise it's every bit good.
- Chicken biryani - Great taste and only complaint being the biriyani was way too oily. Along with biriyani besides raitha and brinjal they each plate a boiled egg too.
- Brain Fry - By far the best I've tasted. It was extremely soft, well fried and the masala was superb.
- Vanjeeram Fry - It was as usual just wish they'd avoid food colouring.
- Mutton Pepper Fry - Favourite dish of the day, piping hot and spicy. Boneless and very delicious.
- Prawn Fry/Prawn Gravy - We ordered both. They were amazing. Portions were small though.
We later had some buttermilk and rasam to wash it all down.
Overall for a group of 7 the bill was around ₹2300. Very satisfactory and fulfilling non veg meal with prompt service. I would rate it 0.5 higher if only Aatukaal Paya had been available. Also the air-conditioning was pathetic, no cooling and they had repairs going on. No doubt tasty food but they could still work on some improvements.
LOCATION : 5/5
PARKING : 3/5
PRICE : 4/5
SERVICE : 4.5/5
The ambience here is mediocre as compared to their other outlets. The Biriyani here is okay, half decent, nothing great to rave above. I love the number of dishes they provide in the thali(meals). Would not recommend the curd rice here, as they mash it in a blender and is more like a pudding texture that separate rice grains.

Tried parathas here .. have seen wide variety and tried few of them .. they are fine .. they have more options of wheat and other variety of egg and non -veg .. over all ambience is good .. friendly staff and service .. but if we order anything it will take min 15 minutes ..
Average food tastes but the cost is very high compared to the same category hotels.
They should reduce the price. Food quality also needs to be improved.
I have had fish meals here for 399.
The taste of the fish curry is average. Too costly.
Meals and mutton fry super but service worst 👍
After a long time had a proper South Indian lunch course from Junior Kuppana, Anna Nagar.
It was much satisfactory irrespective of their pricings of each dishes. For a change instead od biriyani tried their Parottas along with chicken gravy.
Parottas were soft and salna & raitas thar came along with it were also fresh, Coming to quantity wise the chicken gravy was enough for 4 Parottas and mixed with salna it was even better.
Very crowded during weekend..due to less service ppl, they can't able to serve properly...food was getting delayed and waiting time also more..it's in main road and Wen we went, some of the food items already finished. Good non veg restaurant
This is an honest review from a customer myself..The place was 10/10 literally..the food was very good the kongu style biriyani was so good.. especially the service was everything they were so polite and friendly.. totally I'm very impressed with this hotel❤️..will surely recommend
