We went as a group of 3 and had appam, chicken 65 and biriyani kuska. It was very good. May be we ll visit the next time too when we visit chennai.
If you love Appam then the different types of Appam here are for you! The egg appam and the chicken keema appam both were yummy and difficult to choose which one was better than the other. The salan and the raita complimented it well.. the fish fingers were okay so suggest keep this place only for appams as they are super yum
Yesterday I’ve been to phenoix.
Though phenoix has good restaurants I prefer the food court..! It’s one way good they kept buying food with cash rather than food court card..!

Place with limited menu yet good choices to choose from. There are good combos. The food is actually really nice and tasty. It is kind off spicy for my taste buds. Price and quantity is very much worth it.

When I was here I had Appams with Ulli Theeyal a dish prepared with onions souted till coffee brown ... Appams with Kadala Curry and Appam with Egg... The fare on offer was simply awesome ...

This is a late review coz i just remembered i didn't review Nalaas, which i visited few months back. Located on the 3rd floor of Phoenix market city, in the food court is the go to restaurant for classic south india dishes. The ambiance of the food court is good and the atmosphere is just amazing.
I ordered a Chicken soup and a Easy meal value deal which is 2 Aappam and a Chicken chettinad. The chicken soup was served hot, with chunks of chicken and spices. The Aappam was big in size and soft, but minutes after service it becomes bland, so eat it while it's hot. The chicken chettinad was really good, with huge piece of chicken in a spicy gravy was a delight to eat with aappams.
The experience was good and totally worth the try. I'd rate Nalaas 3.5/5
Went to the phoenix food court with family today with a hungry stomach, searched for the stalls that was less crowded. Finally found Nalaas Aappakadai to be the one. Not because there were no takers but the service was very quick and appreciable. I ordered veg biriyani combo (biriyani+gobi 65), chicken biriyani and a plain aappam. Both the biriyanis were pretty hot and tasted good. Aappam which my son had, looked soft. Gobi 65 was crunchy and tasty but i didn't like the extra colour it had. Price is bit on the higher side. And getting a seat there is a much difficult task.
Definitely the best choice for Appams. Have ordered for Appam with Thenga Paal(Cocunut milk) which was above and beyond my expectations. Ever since then, this dish became my favourite for a light meal. Service needs an improvement. Below par ambience, which is a certain problem with most of the malls.

Tried their Aapam, non veg combo and also kothu barotta.
Aapam asusual good in taste and went well with the kuzlambu they provided.
Kothu barotta was yummy but found less in quantity.
chicken briyani - was good but not delicious and quantity was Less.
Price was okay and the service was good and quick.

This is one of the best place to try aapams. Since I was pregnant at that time I was carving to have aapams. So we thought of drop in here for nice aapams. First the ambiance was average. Not much to say. I felt the place is little congested. The seating area would have been much better. Next comes the food. We ordered plain aapams and bulls eye aapam and mutton gravy. I love the aapam it was so soft, fluffy and yummy. I had it with coconut milk. Bull's eye aapam is nothing but a half boiled egg on top of the aapam. I actually didn't like the flavor but my hubby liked it with the mutton gravy. We also had paneer tikka. It was ok. The service is very bad here. They are taking too long to serve aapam. They don't serve all at a time. We need to wait for so long after completing one aapams. That is really irritating when we are hungry. The price is also average not too much. Overall an average experience. Sure we will visit again just for aapams.

Good food. Neat packing. Quick delivery. So what is to crib? Why 4.5. Why not 5 out 5..because the combo they offer appam with veg gravy i had to search veg pieces. Hope i will locate them next time.
The Kal Dosai and Aapam were really good. The serving is two numbers and side dish of your choice.
Like all malls, there's an acute lack of place to sit and enjoy your dinner.
The Coconut Milk combo for Aapam is recommended over the other sides you get.
Nice place to have South Indian spicy chicken and mutton curries with a variety of aapams and kal dosai and parothas. The service is quick and the price is also reasonable. Not a flashy place to go for a party but yeah a regular place where u can have a filling lunch or dinner when ur cook is not around.
Nalaas has the best, most authentic, chettinad food I've had in my life! [And I grew up in the south!]
I go here all the time, and I don't plan on changing my habits anytime soon!

After a long day was in super hurry to pick a light meal as take away.
Landed at Veg kothu parotta since the aapams and parottas are my regulars here for umpteen times and also wasn't sure for a takeaway.
Felt the pricing as high for a single veg dish but anyway went ahead and ordered.
After a good 15 mins received a piping hot,perfectly packed meal.
The quantity was huge,with much varieties of veggies minced and diced.
The accompaniments were spicy veg gravy and onion raitha.
The gravy tasted very yummy with wonderful aroma.
Overall the taste was glorious and it totally justified the price.
We ordered appam, Egg Appam, Parotta with Chicken curry Home style. Appam was OK not great. Parotta and Chicken curry Home style gravy was really good. The service was quick.

I have been here like 3-4 times. You can give it a try if you do not have other options. They have a wide variety of appams. This place is a must try for Appam lovers. The appam and most of their side dishes are good. Almost all of their food items are sweet, which is what I hated. Price is slighly higher considering what you get.
I had been to the mall the weekend I moved to Chennai. The most popular dish here in Tamil Nadu is appam...and where else do I have it other than this place. I was very much impressed with the way the cook it. I took paneer masala as sides for it. The taste was amazing. The appams were very soft and tasty that I had two of them. The place is the food court of the mall so seating is very difficult to find. Rest is good. Pics will be uploaded the next time I visit the place... Cheers!

I visited this place at 11pm and delighted to see that the staff was still on their toes to serve us.
Clean. Hygenic. Spacious. Probably it was because of the late timings.
If you visit Nalas, I recommend the Appam with coconut milk.

Appams are extraordinary. Especially cheese cashew appam with mutton paya. Amazing combination. Chicken lollipop has unique taste than any other restaurant. These are the must try list. And the bad thing is coconut milk. It has water more than milk. Cost RS.60, so avoid this..

Parking : small area.

I am a non veg eater and I loved the food. My wife is vegetarian today and she had horrible experience. She ordered veg kothu parota and she found egg pieces and also some bones. I donno what rating to give. Off course we can't expect pure vegetarian food but they should take some care to prepare veg foods.
My usual appakadai. They maintain a consistent taste and their service is decent. Hygiene is good too. I would love to go again. They have ample space so whenever I drop in I get a table within 15 minutes even during peak times. Parking's a letoff but thats a given around this area.
As a vegetarian I tasted their aappam,meals and delicious milaguthuvani soup( still remember the taste after 7 years and ache to have another). As per name aappam is extardinary. My sister said their NV also good. I brought my friends family who also liked their food.
Aappams are good and tasty. However the ambience is not so good since it was noisy must of the time. Care should be taken about interiors and echo's. Staff is courteous and good.
Good but costly. Unlike other South Indian restaurants, this hotel charges you for the side dish as well. Yes you read that right. If you go to other restaurants and if you order some Aappam (crepe), they will only charge you for the Aappam and the side dish - be it chutney, sambar, coconut milk (thengai paal) etc will be given free of cost or they would be included in the price of Aappam. But in this restaurant, they will charge for Aappam (which is fine) and they will charge for the Thengaai paal aka coconut milk as well. The taste is good but due to this kind of adoption from North Indian hotels makes people opt out this hotel.
They took a long time to come and serve ! waiting time was more , rest all the food was fine ! the speed of the service can be improved !

Appams are good in taste and also other dishes are also good in taste but serving timing is only an quite long.
