The Quality and tasty Confectionaries can be expected here.. My most favourite place for cakes since childhood. Though I'm a Dessert addicted girl, I've tried all the types of cakes available here.. :)
One of the best confectioners in town , I have been going there since my childhood. I love their chocolate truffles and brownies ,it just melts in my mouth. Their innovation and variety stopped a long time ago so you cant find any new dishes, but the items available are great to taste.
My first ever visit to this eatery is somewhere before 2012 and I became a big fan of their coffee - being the kind of human who does not have tea or coffee usually. I visited them after 5 years recently and still liked the ambience. Service has got better. There is no crowd. You can just sit, enjoy your coffee/their baked varieties and just soak in your moment. I went alone and still did not feel any discomfort.
Thank you 'The French Loaf' making me a coffee fan now. :)
Always good wen it comes to the famous French Loaf. Quality food/coffee with quality service.
Deserves a five star indeed.

Ambience- Spacious and typical cafe interior.
Pocket friendly- Reasonable for the quality served. However it should be inclusive of GST.
Food- Desserts here are to die for. Apple Pie right out of Oven is the best. The blueberry pastry had right amount of sweetness, softness, was fresh and real tasty.
Blackforest cake was soft and creamy. Jam Danish was one highlight. Soft and crispy at the same time with yummy jelly on the top.
Service- Take away and prompt.
Rating- 4.5 just because the price is high with GST included.
One awesome place for pastries ! They really have some good bdy cakes as well. For the first time I hav ordered Choco fantasy cake 1/2 kg for one of my friend and I was so surprised abt the rates too. It was worth for the quality the provide. They provide photo cakes as well with many themes.
My first visit to this branch of The French Loaf. Went with my cousin and aunt. This branch is located in the junction before the besant nagar Catholic Church near Downtown Cafe, Brew Room and Karaikudi Restaurant. There is ample parking space for bikes. Not many cars can be parked at a time. I had to park my car in the main road. Thank God it was early evening around 4PM, there wasn't much traffic. The interior is pretty small with just three tables that can seat 4-5 people each. Lots of cakes were available and every model kept in the display looked attractive. The service was really slow but the people who helped us were courteous. AC flow was good. The place was well maintained and neat.
Food-
Most of the items we wanted to order weren't available. Mainly no sandwiches were available. It was surprising to hear this in a place where they sell bread as their main item! Our orders were:
👉 Non-Veg Combo (Cafe Latte & Chicken Puff) [4.5/5] - The latte was thick and yummy. The quantity was also perfect. Neither too less nor too much. The chicken puff had less stuffing but was really tasty. It tasted fresh too. For Rs. 79/- this combo was indeed good VFM.
👉 Brownie with ice-cream [3/5] - The brownie was fresh but was slim which made the overall quantity kinda less. It was provided along with a huge scoop of vanilla ice-cream. The chocolate sauce on the brownie was kinda sticky. I wouldn't call this the best brownie, but wouldn't call it the worst either. It was okay.
👉 Dark Choco Punch (as per the menu) / Choco Blast (as per the bill) [5/5] - What I ordered was Dark Choco Punch but the bill read Choco Blast. Checked the menu and found that both cost the same, so didn't bother to ask them about it. Now this was perfect! It was exactly how chocolaty I would like my milkshakes to be. The quantity was humongous but still I managed to finish it in around 3-4 sips! It was so smooth and chocolaty and thick and tasty. Loved it!
Paid Rs. 274/- which seemed pretty reasonable to me considering the quality of food. If not for the unavailability of items and sluggish service, I would have definitely rated this place a little higher.

They've got great cakes. But the variety could be more. You have to order at least a day earlier. Same day ordering isn't possible(at least that's what happened with us).
But since the quality is great! Definitely two thumbs up!! @manju
I used to be a regular here when they suddenly closed Cake walk (still can't get over it) and there wasn't much option left to buy birthday cakes. It's convenient to buy from here since they got these sweet looking birthday cakes, ready to go.
Pricing is definitely expensive. Cakes are good but definitely not exceptional
Ok. French loaf is not a speciality cake shop, nor a specialty bakery. It's a cusp. Besant Nagar branch is still one of the better ones which I've visited. Staff hospitality - good. Variety - can be improved. Quality - average. Pick up a pastry, or oven baked fresh bread.
The French Loaf Besant Nagar is my favourite place. Cakes here are delicious and awesome.  It is THE best place to buy cakes for your family & friends. Service is fabulous. Cheers!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Whosoever has an occasion coming up that requires a cake; do buy the WOW cake!! Don't miss out on it!! It's totally worth it!!!
The soft velvety texture and taste along with that fresh white icing just made my day!!! Thank You French Loaf!!!!
The 5 is for your WOW Cake !!!! It was out of this world!!!
My roommate had ordered this cake for his girlfriend's birthday and I was the one who collected it from your Besant Nagar outlet..
After midnight he brought me a piece of the cake and I was literally taken to another world for a those few minutes when I had the cake in mouth.. And I secretly wishes that he had brought me more ????..

The French Loaf is one of the finest places for having your deserts. This Shop is located near the karaikudi restaurant , Besant nagar. The parking space is quite small, two cars and two bikes can be parked. Ok , now coming inside the shop. It has the usual classic ambience similar to the other outlets of The French Loaf, which is actually good.
The cakes which are available here are so fresh , they are so delicious and you always want one more of them. The price is little high, to be precise its costly. But the price is worth it for the food you eat.Â
The timings of the shop could be extended. One Good place where you can Buy Birthday cakes for your friends.Overall my rating will be 3.5/5 :)
Very good bakery
I like apple pie the most
Also they have good variety of cakes
And chocolate brownie is also good
Ambience is nice
The French Loaf is owned by Oriental Cuisines, the same people who own Wangs, Zaras and Copper Chimney. We like all these places quite a bit, and The French Loaf is no exception.
Parking for 2-3 cars which is usually quite adequate.
Despite being part of a corporate chain, the bakery maintains a strong character. Everything from the door to the window dressing to the interior has been thought of and is in perfect sync. The decor recalls an old fashioned parlor and nothing jars or is out of place at all.
The food is exceptional. There is a reasonable variety on display, and the quality of the baked goods is very high indeed. We weren't sure if it was because of a steady stream of customers or policy, but the cakes are always fresh.
The bread section includes some unusual and absolutely delicious bread varieties.
Pricing is on the steep side. However, with the quality of the food, the freshness and the some unusual items available, the price asked is not unreasonable.
Overall Conclusion: When looking for a high end dessert, look no further than The French Loaf. The price is high, but well worth it.
French Loaf is one of best boulangeries in town. Almond pie is the star.I had visited franchises in various parts and i found few common things like croissants. They are tasty but still not fresh but smoothness makes feel delicious and amazes you. Ambiance is very good and service is extraordinary which lacks in many of bakeries and eateries. If you wanna taste different bakery items, hangout at french loaf.
