While it is raining out !!
You’ll av a feeling to eat something hot.
Sudaa sudaa idly with kozhi kolambuu is the best to beat the cravings.
Kozhi idli’s - Idly & Chicken gravy is good.
Food -4/5
Ambience - You’ll definitely feel like eating in your granny’s home only for the interior, yet cleanliness can be improved - 3.5/5
Over all good place to have your midnight meal.
Thank you Kozhi idly for the sudaa sudaa idly :)
The best idli and chicken gravy combo i have ever😍😍😍
Even the garlic kara kolambu was damn yummy 😋
Must try: idli and chicken thokku combo😍😍❤️
For all those who love idlis and chicken curry ideal place , the chilly chicken curry is a must try , the idlis are soft and succulent , the 2 chutneys was awesome, service is sooper fast , definitely gourmet class
Kozhi idly is famous for there food which s there name..
Food:
Kozhi idly is famous for there Idlies with chicken gravy..
If you love idlys check out this place
Ambience:
Fine smalla ambience that can occupy a small gang..
Positive:
Idlys with curry😍
Negative:
Ntng bad abt this place
Visited this place a few days ago
Decent food liked the garlic kolumbu..!
Very soft idlis
But the place is too small for family.
Apart from that all good👍🏻
Ordered Idli & Chicken red chilly combo...Idli was very soft and consumable.... Chicken curry only 2 small pieces and gravy...Over Spicy but when you eat with Idli its chance less....After Spicy Combo I had Gulfi...It made my day in one word....
Mouth watering combo of red chilly chicken curry and idli.. loved the taste... was so much lost into nostalgia of home food after tasting a delicious combo.. I bet none ll regret.
Good idli but need to add more variety to menu
Also coconut chutney it green chutney needs to be added
The place is small it can hardly fit in 10 ppl
it takes a dare for a restaurant in India which says they will play with one central median dish and build a story around it. one may have a KFC which has used the chicken story and made it a success. but Indian cuisine be it veg or non veg thrives by its variety.
one can't imagine that a veg restaurant does only a potato dish and make variations of it and still find a business for it.
Kozhi idli has broken that myth.
the chicken has been variated in different forms as dry, wet, gravy, semi gravy , super dry and what have you. and to accompany it , a fluffy steaming idli to be it's life partner for now.
stand outs are the chicken leg roast and chicken chukka. while the roast could do with some spice the chukka was rightly blended with pepper.
the red and green curry are unique in taste and consistency.
some innovations with the ubiquitous masala vada which is infused with chicken or the Kozhi paniyaram with a dose of X chicken in the sour base makes interesting conversation.
not to forget the tangy Kozhi rasam or soup which sets the tone for the evening service.
while the ambience can be termed basic and unpretentious , it is a put off to those who wish style dining. but coming from a gastronomic view, the food is the hero while the ambience are only props. to earn more for the restaurant, comfort is needed to be provided and justified with the high costs per dish . but to eat more for the consumer, one needs costs to be kept down with bare bone facilities.
so I am more than happy to sit on plastic chairs and drink ordinary water as long as my food is affordable-----
------while the chicken clucks and my food satisfies!
Kozhi idli is different and unique. such dares add to the uniqueness of a city's food Scape.
let's see how long they make it last.......

If you are a chicken lover, this is the place to be. Though the choice may be a little limited, it was comfort food. A dash of pepper more and it was good. Descent place to dine in. Nothing much to write about ambience, as it is an old house converted to a restaurant with basic tables and chairs. We had the Chicken Pepper Rasam, Chicken Thokku, Chicken Vadai, Naatu Kozhi Pepper Gravy, idli and idiyappam. Vadai was more of paruppu Vadai kind. The soup was peppery and nice. Idli and idiyappam was soft and nice. The Naatu Kozhi Gravy has that dash of pepper more. But tasted good. They had a separate section for the Saturday night triplers and for the family crowd. Over all a very satisfying experience.
Kozhi pepper kozhumbu is great and must try items would be kozhi cheese ball and caramel custard. Restaurant might be small but their taste is enormously great! idlis are soft and big in size and they are served in a matter of few seconds...
Went there on a rainy night.. It gave me the appearance of a residential floor converted into a hotel.. pricing is justified by the taste .. tried Kozhi idly as it is their signature dish .. idly is really too big in size and has a good sync with the gravey they provide .. a good dine overall .. could have got a decent ambience and customer service considering the location it is situated
Reallt felt d taste of home food... Gonna 2 b tha family hotel... Never miss any of The dishes.. Makes u mouth watering..... A perfect dish for appetite....
Off late evening, checked-in for dinner. A perfect place for CHICKEN lovers! If you love idli with chicken, then it would be the ideal place you are hoping for. Little salty but not much. If you are veg, then you have to a worry person. As a group, we enjoyed a lot.
Mostly little crowded in near ADMK office Royapettaih, so take away is best if you shy of standing.
Hi all!! I've ordered from here many times and food was piping hot each and every time! Fast and good delivery! Keep it up guys👍 I love the soft idlies here! The thing is,I don't like my mom's idlies! But I love kozhi idlies! 😂So my mom gets furious whenever I order from here since I don't eat her idlies 😂😂red chutney and poondu kozhambu which comes along with it are also tasty 😍I also like their idli podi with garlic!I've ordered both the varieties of chicken kozhambu and liked chicken pepper kozhambu a lot!❤I wasn't satisfied with the other type!chicken paniyaram and chicken cheese balls were very good🔝💯 caramel custard was okayish! I've had better ones!! But you cannot dine in as it's a very small place! Take away or home delivery is better!overall it's a very nice place for all the idli lovers!! Value for money! Student friendly since it's pocket friendly! 💰
Idly served with chicken kulambu is so mouth watering. But the quantity of kulambu served is high, dip and drench the idly with lot of kulambu. Naatu kozhi varuval is spicy and tasty. Only thing i dont like about this outlet is it is too congested have to wait for sometimes.
Dropped in by their gopalapuram outlet for lunch. Stuff we ordered - Kozhi Milagu Rasam, Kozhi Sukka, Kozhi Kuzhambhu, Idly Accompaniments - Yummy Garlic podi , Onion Chutney, Complimentary ( specially for us ☺) - Pepper Chicken Kuzhambhu. To be precise if you miss your home food this is the place to be. All the dishes were of erode/thanjavur style cooking. To plain sight there were no artificial colours / artificial flavours. Small and Cosy dine out with fair pricing without taking a hit on the quality & quantity. Service was neat and staff were friendly , open to explain their concept readily. Our bill for all these was Rs. 260/-
Their theme is really really good.. i would say this is Kozhi(chicken) boutique. They have varieties of kozhi.. Fry, thokku, tawa fry,. 65, omg 😱 sooooooooooo good.. but I felt little salty.. I use to take less salt this may be the reason.. I ordered idli with pepper gravy excellent tempting us to order more idlies.. and the idlies mainly very hot.. kozhi paniyaram very different I never tasted this before.. kozhi chukka is Soooo juicy finger licking.. kozhi 65 is must try.. kozhi pepper fry spicy juicy hot.. no space left in my tummy soo must go again to try other recipes... Price are heavenly worthy.. quantity is enough for one person.. Team really great theme well planned quantity wise..
I dined couple of times in gopalapuram branch. I ordered kodhi melagu rasam the taste of soup extra ordinary 👌 but i mistakenly i ordered chicken 65 the chicken not cook properly 👎. Food. 3/0.
Service.3/5
Ambiance 3/0
Best place to have idly and chicken gravy... Such a yummy food ... All chicken items r good .. Good in their service too ... Please try to improve the exposure little bit difficult to find the place... All the best to kozhi idli team...
After having satisfying experience at their adyar outlet, based on friends suggestions went for their Gopalapuram / Royapettah outlet. My friends claimed that food is better at this outlet than Adyar one. Let's see.
This place is easy to locate. Take left once you get down from Mylapore bridge while heading towards Royapettah. In the road where ADMK office is situated. They have 2 entrance. One is viewable from road which is open only during dinner or if crowded during other time. Another entrance is in small road next to it.
Ambiance is simple and decent. One in small road is better than one in main road. However kitchen is same for both. Parking is somewhat manageable in roadside. Service is decent. Food are served within reasonable time.
As name suggest it is place for chicken and idly lovers. Vegetarian like me can try Idly accompanied by tomato 🍅 onion chutney and garlic chilly podi, Corn 🌽 Paniyaram, Poondu kolambu, Kulfi stick and caramel custard ice cream. Rest are all non veg.
My review is based on 3 visits in last few weeks. Idly set has 3 piece of idly. Afterthat can buy additionally based on requirement. It was soft and good. Chutney which I m not great fan of tasted good. No coconut Chutney and vegetable sambar which is slightly disappointing. Added Poondu kolambu. It is good. Slightly different in taste from one cooked at home. May be due to chilli powder. Garlic chilly podi is apt spicy and tasted good.
Corn 🌽 Paniyaram is good as expected. It is normal paniyaram with sweet corn and spiced onion filling. Kulfi stick is my favorite over here. Must try in this place. Taste of food over here is better than Adyar one as rightly said by my friends, though owner of shop bet to differ claiming everything cooked in same place can't differ.
Price is reasonable. Value for money. The owner of shop is friendly. Requested him to add few more veg items without deviating from their concept. Got some exciting news from him. Wait for the surprise guyzzz.
Best idlis in chennai. Had idli with kozhi kulambu. I don't like spicy food. So had kozhi thokku for idli. It was yummy. Cheese balls are good. And to mention its really economical. Yet the taste is toooo good.
The name Kozhi Idli itself brings in a lot of emotions. And true to that, dishes even though it's idlies all over, their Chicken gravies stand out for a reason.
Located just crossed Royapettah near ADMK office, this is the famous among all their branches and while going for a movie in EA, we were fortunate to stop by this place. 3 Nos of Idli with Red chilly gravy was really good. Idli was too soft and only when immersed it in the gravy, true feeling comes out. That was overtook by Pepper Chicken gravy which was Wow. Chicken Paniyaram was well made with softer chicken pieces but it was little plain. Kozhi Tawa Roast looked really good and taste was too different that I even had Idli Podi flavor in it. Decent. Our conversations were like even if they start Biriyani, it would go really good. And the addition of their stick type Kulfi was too good. One best I have had so far.
The bill was around 520 and they made it really fast. especially after we said that we had 40 mins left for a movie, so 25 mins it's all over. A great service and food as well. Would recommend this as a quick eat where it makes whole heartedly and whole tummy filled, Kozhi Idli is one of my favorite now.
As the name of this restaurant says, it is most specialized in idli as a main dish. Since I'm a Vegetarian I had lesser options. This restaurant is mainly for Non vegetarians. But still I had Idli with chutney, podi and poondu kolambu. Its been 24 hours since I ate them and still the taste, the idli appearance, its softness is running in my mind. Awesome taste and never ever had such taste elsewhere for the above said side dishes. Idli podi preparation by these people is entirely different and is not a normal one which we usually use in home with gingelly oil. Please do try this if you're a idli lover. And a small suggestion is few more Veg items can be added. Another veg item these people have is paniyaram. Will try it next time. Cheers!
Kozhi idli - the name is in itself really interesting and rustic, true to the fare served here. They have multiple outlets in the city and we visited the Gopalapuram branch. It's in a lane opposite the AIADMK party office on Lloyds road and was really good say to locate. The place is small and there were three tables in the air-conditioned room with seating capacity of 10. I think there are a few tables outside as well. The food on the plates of those who were eating, looked inviting and we went straight to the order. Starters - Kozhi cheese balls priced at ₹20 per piece, one plate has 6. But you can order by the piece. Was different from the usual corn cheese balls. Corn paniyaram priced at ₹25 for two pieces, one plate has 6 but you can order in pairs. This was really yummy, masala filled paniyaram I would give this dish 5 stars. Must eat. Main course - 3 idli with Kozhi kozhambu. They have two variants of the kozhambu one with pepper and another chilly. We ordered red chilly. Priced at ₹90 like a combo, this is the most popular item. Everyone who walked in orders atleast one plate and they are many who take away parcel. 3 Idli with Kozhi thokku was the next item. The thokku is of thicker consistency and is pepper flavoured. It was spicy and enjoyed thoroughly. The thokku is ₹85 and idlis are priced by the piece ₹13 ea. The vegetarians ordered idli with chutney and podi. They have a couple of items like Poondu kozhambu etc. but did not have any that day. The podi is just raw garlic and red chilly in gingelly oil and absolutely delectable. The 3 idli combo is priced at ₹40. We ordered some extra idlis to polish off the gravies. The idlis are soft and melt in the mouth. The total bill came to ₹450 approx. for three people. Value for Money, prompt service and really hot fresh food. Nothing fancy, more like get in - hog - leave kind of place. Must visit for chicken lovers!
Cost effective !! I love these idly as they are soft ! The podi which they give is yummy 😋 Home delivery is also done !! Love this one ✌️Must try :)
After so many days of planning, we went here for dinner yesterday. We had hot fluffy idlies with chilli kozhi kolumbu, chicken sukka, cheese chicken balls and kozhi paniyaaram. The chicken gravy was average, tasted 50 times better than a normal kaiyendhi bhavan but not great as in the best restaurant food. It was OK for the price I guess. The sukka and paniyaaram were good. Idlies were outstanding. The cheese chicken balls looked and tasted like frozen food - not sure if it really was fresh ones. The place was small but clean and had very good service.
Overall it was a different dining experience. If you ask me if I would go once more, may be I would, only for a quick pocket friendly non veg experience.
Kozhi idly serves idly along with chicken gravies. They serve chicken in various forms like thokku, chukka, etc.
The ambience is simple with rustic interiors, very small with limited chairs, similar to their Adyar branch.
We ordered three idly with pepper kolambu and red Chilly kolambu and chicken chukka. The idles were uber soft, served piping hot. The gravies tasted like more like home made ones, with right amount of Spice. It is sufficient for atleast 4 idlis.
The chukka was spicy and had good amount of small pieces in it. Very filling meal.
The above costed us INR 280.
Orders time took about 10 minutes, self service.
Good, small and neat place to dine-in. We went there with kind of over expectation because of its reviews and comments. Food was good. Based on taste; Chicken soup - Good, Idli - Good and very spongy (Enjoyed it!!! ), Chicken Curry would have been better (failed to satisfy us), Kozhi Cheese ball - Awesome, Naatu kozhi fry - Good. Quantity and cost wise it was too good. Overall, give a try.

Had gone to this place after hearing about it from my friends. Just as the name says they serve idli and chicken curry. But even though the menu is limited the food was good. The place is a little bit compact. But I was suprised to see that the staff were serving cars outside the restaurant like a drive in. Overall it is a one time try restaurant.

This place is situated right next to AIADMK office. It's a small place with limited seating with normal ambience. Their Idly with Kozhi Kolambu, Kozhi Melagu Rasam, Kozhi Masala Vadai and Kozhi Paniyaram is good and a must try dish. Altogether a Must visit place to have evening time snacks.
Decent, pocket friendly outlet which mainly based on idli and chicken. A small place just opposite to ADMK office. It can allow to sit not more than 10 people. It's good for a takeaway than dining.
Started with milagu chicken rasam came in small bowl which is good enough for single person , spicy and tasted good.
Had idli with both pepper chicken gravy and red chill chicken gravy. I liked the pepper gravy much than the red chilli variant. The idli was so soft and the gravies went nice with fluffy idlies. Tasted like I used to have it in home.
Had pipping hot chicken paniyaram, the usual paniyaram with minced chicken. I had it with red chilli chicken gravy, it tasted really good than the chutney it came with.
The letdown was chicken 65,which had the raw flavor of the masala.
Finished with kulfi which is store bought. Costed around 550 for two. Pretty decent, I felt this place is worth for the idli combo and soup.
The name says it all.Steamy Hot & Soft Idlis with authentic chicken gravy. What more you can ask for??? Treating your tongue with a piece of idli dipped in the gravy will do all the magic... This used to be our fav Sunday breakfast menu back at home...

Mum took me to this place saying that food is great. I don't like idlis so I was genuinely apprehensive. But then once I took a bite of the idli with kozhi curry, was bowled over.!! Also try the kozhi cheese toast. (Be careful, I tried to break the surface with my fingers and cheese splashed over my hands :-D].
A must visit!
The place oppo to the AIDMK OFFICE
The ambience is quite poor not mesmerising at all, but the AC was awesome.
The best part was there were tables to sit and eat the sumptuous meal
Wanted to try the hot and crispy chicken panigaraams
My goodness VERA LEVEL
The kulfi was good
I would really appreciate the way they prepare the PODDI so good in terms of the mix and the oil is of very good quality

This name is by far the most famous, almost every carnivore loves this place to death!
I have heard suggestions to here more than once, and have had two cancelled outings which made it worse.
And one fine day, it happened:
This time I didn't wanna leave any stone unturned,
I was like ordering everything from the menu and he was like sorry sir "athu mudinjiruchu" "ithu illa" "ithu kedaiyathu" !
Last settled to:
Idly with gravy
Kozhi 65
Nattu kozhi varuval
That Idly n gravy was heavenly🌈, one mash and the Idly became Idly upma and started bathing itself in the gravy..they have two options Red chilli and pepper both are equally good
The 65 reminded of those Christian marriages were the pieces are sightly over cooked ☺️☺️ semma taste
Varuval also was too damn good
After finishing i was like why on earth haven't I been here before..
Ambience : No sitting only standing 😂😂
Service : Pretty fast
Taste : Topu tuckerr
Easy to locate. Serves d best chicken kozhambu with idly in town. Must try - Kozhi red chilli gravy n Chicken Paniyaram.. Excellent nattu kozhi rasam n Kozhi Chukka.. Pocket friendly n apt for dinner ! Service is good 😊 Happy to b a regular customer since its inception..
Went for an evening dinner... First impression of shop proves taste is guaranteed.. tried their special kozhi kolambu with idly which took mySelf to remember the village style country chicken gravy... Chicken fry was average.. don't try chutney- if you try that then you will hate chicken gravy ,such an authentic flavor in their chutney..
Kozhi+Idly!
Ordered Idly with Naatu Kozhi gravy and Kozhi Panniyaram. The idly and chutney combination here wont allow you to switch for gravies. It is that good. The kozhi panniyaram was chewy like a momo, also a bit more like a muffin. The gravy was good but too spicy for my palette.
Self service. Price is cheap.
Been here too the chicken paniyaarams r mouth watering keep going back for the idlys and chicken curry and the chutney is wow. And now they have added some more varieties its ...
Love the hot idli with chicken gravy, first time im eating idly with chicken gravy usually i always have it with sambar and chutney. Good to experiment with different foods you might just come up with a new idea.
Off late Idli/dosa with Chicken curry has become my favourite meal . But can there be a place dedicated to to serving just this combo ? If so how well would it do ?
Visited kozhi idly at Gopalapuram as this place was highly recommended by a lot of my foodie friends . The place was quite small and could seat only 10 customers at any given time . The menu was quite compact with a lot of choice for chicken lovers . We tried out the following :
Kozhi melagu rasam was amazingly peppery with a strong flavour of chicken and I loved it . Ordered kozhi thokku for the idlies and the combination was heavenly . The gravy was thick and rich . The kozhi 65 was quite ordinary and lacked spice and salt . We requested for lemons and the restaurant didn't have any .
Coming to the best part , the kozhi paniyaram was a fusion of kuzhi paniyaram with generous amount of chicken in it and so were the kozhi cheese balls . The kozhi masala vada was my favourite and it's definitely a must try for the (non vegetarian) fans of masala paruppu vada.
All of this for only 400 bucks and believe it or not the two us were so full.

- Foodie from Madras
No fuss - kozhi and idli (: lovely fluffy chicken paniyarams and surprisingly good caramel custard to wash down a perfectly spiced meal 👌🏻
U would have eaten a lol of idli's I'm sure ... even I did ...and I though I reached a threshold of taste... had an assumption tht I had enough of idli's until late I tried this place... omg are there idli's good ... if u order a normal plate idli u will get 3 idli's with orange chutney ...don't knw wats that and a lil bit of moluga podi. ...it taste really good
Idli with pepper kolumbu is my favorite ,it to tastes heavenly... and cheese balls are also really really nice... and if u feel like having a soup before all this ,koli Melaga resam ... it's good ... helps especially if u have a bad throat . I can't explain it through comments bt I can tell u all try this place u will not regret it... it's a must goo place u shd all have in your list
Very good place for a home style idly and chicken sides. An the ambience is also home like. The serving persons are right from kitchen which makes it more comfortable and eating at home.
Must try: Kozhi Masala Vadai, Kozhi Cheese Ball, Kozhu sukka
They can also try introducing stuffed Kozhi masala idly.
Opening a bigger space would bring them lots of laurels 👍 will visit again and again 👍😊
As the name suggest this shop has amazing chicken curry and other related foods.
Me and my Friend went to have a quick bite,
We ordered -
Kozhi melagu Rasam – 3.5/5 , this is was spicy and good , chicken pieces are there inside .
Kozhi Paniyaram -4.5/5 paniyaram stuffed with chicken...
Best place to have Idlis.... trust me... I have been a regular customer from the time they started the restaurant ( can't call it a restaurant technically). U feel ur having idli and chicken gravy at home.. best addition to their short list is Chicken sukka and chicken kothu!!!!!!
Sexy location.
Envy the location. Peaceful.
Food inside is fantastic.
Chicken cheese balls. 😍
The 90rs combo is worth the money or even more.
Strictly for those who eat idli with mom's chicken gravy on a Sunday morning. 😍
Idli's always go well with Kozhi! That's a well known fact, and this place is purely meant for that. Quality of food is excellent even when you visit at night, they cook it fresh! Swift service. Since I went on a Sunday dinner, it was bit crowded and I had to wait for seats. But that's okay, as in Chennai all popular places go crowded in weekends.
People who serve you are polite and converse well. Ambiance is okay-okay. VFM-3/5, I felt the food is little overpriced. However this place is one of its kind in the city, may be that's why the price is like that.
Melagu rasam refreshes your mood with spicy flavours. Pepper roast was good and 3 pieces for ₹100 was a bit high. Red chilli kolambu and idly was served hot. Kolambu was too much, I mean more than sufficient for idlis. I feel that's kind of business strategies to sell more idlis. Kozhi paniyaram was fluffy and was amazing with chutney.
Visit 2: 6/8/2016.
Rating to 3.5 from 4 mainly because of ambiance. Very hard time with mosquitoes. Food was of good quality. Tried signature naatu kozhi varuval. Lot of bones was the only drawback.

Reasonable and tasty! Quick n satisfying bite...! U need to try out this place... I will certainly be back...! Keep it up... Great place... Only the air condition is not effective....
Oru idli rendu idli moonu idli naalu idli anji idli...KOZHLI idli!!!! Chilli kolambu..with idli! Waaaaaaahhhhhhh! A MUST try destination. Hope it's the same with everywhere.
Fantastic option for anyone who wants a late night meal. Nothing too heavy. Just right.
Fluffy idlies and a flavoursome pepper chicken kuzhambu. Nice paniyaram too. Great food overall!
Only thing missing is some lemon tea!
Tried the Chicken vadai and the varuval. Loved it!
Please open a branch in Velachery!
Add lemon tea too!
Idli and Chicken Curry.
Couldn't wait to taste that we went around 8 in the morning only to find the place closed. Heard it is open only for lunch and dinner (Wonder why?! What's wrong with idli and chicken in the morning!). Went after a couple of weeks only to be really impressed.
After reading the reviews, ordered for their signature chicken gravy and a couple of starters.
Piping hot idli's with finger licking thick chicken gravy. Chicken Thoku was cooked to perfection and idlis kept going in as we ate to our tummies content. Kozhi Leg Tawa roast was also very good. Chicken paniyaram was okayish.
Don't expect a great ambience or a wide spread menu. But the guys who served us seemed genuinely involved. Suggested what we can have and also gave us samplers.
Place doesn't serve soft drinks or cold water. That would be the only thing that I would want them to quickly add/ change.
A very good option for trying idly with non-veg. koli paniyaram was over when i went and was highly disappointed. Will go next time for sure. Cost wise bit high. When u r buying for multiple people you can order 1 non veg gravy and share with 2 plates idly. Dine in was very small, i prefer take aways.
The murugan idly for non vegetarians! The idlis are fluffy and taste soo good. Everything tasted like they do at home. It is a small place with only 3 tables. The service is swift. The Kozhi rasam was too good. I think it would be better if they include some items, other than idlis for the afternoon.
On a late night hunt for dinner , we went into this rather tiny but clean place for dinner . The idli was piping hot , the gravy was flavourful . A must visit place for foodies !
Hot idly wid red chilly chicken subji and cheese balls plus chukka.....yummy 😋 and wow for tummy......awesome luv it.....moreover naatu kozhi roast is heaven
We as a group went there and tried almost all items ... Seriously it is very cheap and taste is pakka traditional ie., ( homemade ) and ambience is pleasant ...
This review is not complete as I have tried this restaurant for a veg dinner. Therefore I have tried only idli, not kozhi(chicken). Very private space. Cant be spotted that easily, as its 2 right after ADMK H.O from Indian bank CO. A simple dinner with idli and kuzhambu(chutney) and a kulfi.
Idli is soft but has a little sour taste, normal size. Chutney is good and chilly. Kulfi, its kulfi.
Price: 4/5

Excellent place!!!!
Place was small, neat and simple. Menu was simple too. U have idlys and just idlys. To go with that you have chicken dishes. We wr 4 and below are the food we ordered.
Chicken soup
Even though the portion was small, it was jus amazing. I wish I had that in a hill station. nevertheless it was spot on.
Chicken chukka
Another peppery dish. Chicken was cooked to perfection. It was tender, fresh and juicy. Masala was spicy. I think the trick was in marination.
Chicken Roast
Chicken Roast was a kind of OK. Nothing special about it.
Chicken gravy - with Pepper
This one was hot, spicy, and yummy went well with idlys ( I wish they had Egg Dosai but they don serve it seems) not much chicken pieces in this but gravy good enough for two. People who prefer less spicy food can skip this
Chicken Gravy- Red Chilli
This was too good. It had little tangy taste to it. Not much spicy when compared to the GRAVY- with pepper.
Chicken Vadai
A piece costs 25. Definitely worth it. It was big enough. I think they make it to order, which was good. Crispy outside with little pieces of meat. I could taste the fresh green chillies and coriander in every bite. I simply loved it.
Finally the Hero- IDLYS
What can I say they were fluffy and soft. Was just great. No complaints.
Chicken in every dish was cooked to perfection be it chukka or in the gravy. They were juicy and fresh.
One negative is tht they do not serve anything apart from idlys. I requested them to include Egg Dosai and appam varieties.
Apart from that I think it's a great place taste some authentic, spicy food. Taste of the food still lingering in my mouth.
Kozhi idli provides real good idli n kozhi kolambu combo. Idli is so soft n tasty. They have two options of kozhi kolambu (pepper n chilli). i tried pepper which complemented well wth idls. chicken pieces are tender n tasty. More than this, leg roast was damn good . even quantity is sufficient for two. kozhi paniyarami was gud too. worth for 346 rs.
Reasonable price, chicken thokku was good. Red chilli chicken gravy tastes same as of the thattu kadai shop's. Though i didnt feel the ambience of being at a restaurant, was happy as we were 12 in numbers that day
Taste of South India bricked inside this compact place. Circular soft idli's served hotty hot alongside variant chicken gravies. Like an explosion of southern spices in mouth, the taste is 'vera level'. The magic is in its virtual mommy touch :) Vegan's are equally treated with nice podi n chutney n garlic based gravies. Best suited during times of thin wallets.
More Than Yumminezzz
Top class idlyzz n Chicken kuzhambu combo is served here, shop is just a fast food type. For sure wen u start with 3 idlyz with red chilli Chicken kuzhambu surely u vil end with 10nos.Making us to visit it again.
#Worth_To_Eat
The idlies here are very soft . And the chicken paniyaram Oh my god is very delicious . It is soft with chicken masala inside . And the gravies are also tasty. A take away would be a good idea in this place .
#8 Me and my friend accidentally landed up here and it turned out to be a very pleasant accident to our tummy's.
Have read few good reviews of the place on FB and immediately on seeing the signboard of the place we decided to go here.
We ordered two plates idli - one with chicken gravy (red chilli type) and another vegetarian plate only with onion chutney & podi, as me being a vegetarian. My friend also had chicken soup.
The idli was od adequate size and soft and served hot 5/5 for it. My friend said both the chicken soup and curry was awesome. And myself though being a vegetarian didn't feel let down at the place as I used feel at many places which serves dedicated non veg foods.
Great job team kozhi idli keep up the standards.
A pleasant place to enjoy a spicy food for the love of chicken with less damage to the wallet.
Nice ambience, very pocket friendly, Ordered for Idli with Kozhi Kolambu and Kozhi Leg Tawa. The taste was yummy and delicious but a little spicy than expected. Usually 3 Idli comes with any dish please don't order the extra one because each idli is big and heavy and it should suffice your hunger (per person).
Very soft idlies. I enjoyed the hot hot kozhi paniyaram n cheese oozing chicken cheese balls. Also i liked kozhi vada curry. Waiting for chance to try the rest fm their menu.

Simple, hearty, wholesome, pocket-friendly meal. There aren't enough such places in this city. The idlis were hot and fluffy, and the chicken gravy tasted home-cooked, according to my friend. Can't wait to go back.
Idly & Kozhi thokku.... No words to explain. Divine taste. Quick service n clean. Yummy taste. If u guts cross royapetta. Plz visit KOZHI IDLY. Awsm place fr who loves idly n chicken combination. u will b addicted to this place.
This was the first time for me in kozhi idly shop. I ordered a plate of idly (3nos) with red chilli kozhambu. The kozhambu was sufficient for 5idlies. Idly size was also big, so soft and fluffy.. And coming to the kozhambu it was awesome. The kozhambu make us to eat more idlies. The only thing is cost. Little higher. But the taste make us to forget about the high cost.. Will surely visit n have some tasty stuffs again....
#worth being there
Awesome place.. I had Hot idlis and red chilly chicken kozhumbu.. It was hot and chicken curry was awesome... Small shop.. Chicken cooked to perfection.. Parcel available... Highly recommended..
Nice place to have dinner that too since it is nearby satyam. Limited options .good taste and decent ambience.clean and good...chicken cheese balls one of my favourites and must try their corn kuzhi paniyaaram
Idly and Red Chilly kuzhambu was awesome. Food was served hot ♨ #VFM #HighlyRecommended #BestIdly #Kozhi #Royapettah #Chennai #JustFillingUpSpace
We tried almost everything. Everything is awesome, especially: Leg Tawa roast, Kozhi masal vadai, Kozhi paniyaram.

Have been to this place many times but the last one was after a long gap as I was bored of eating just idli and chicken gravy. But now they have a whole new menu which is very decent and interesting. With all the paniyaram and leg pieces and other stuffs on the menu dis place now has good varieties for everyone. I had always tasted and loved the idli of dis place and hence decided to try out the leg piece and paniyaram. Both the dishes were very tasty just dat I would have liked the chicken piece not cut into pieces. But now will be again starting my frequent trips to d place.

One of the best place to have hot idly with kulambu and it is worth a while. Had casual visit with my friend to have idly in royapetah. The taste seems to be very good and its pocket friendly. The other items like chicken cheese balls , pepper roast and corn panniyaram taste very good.
One of the best to have idly in chennai. Mostly people taking away the food. For Dine in also it is the best. Veggies can also have idly with Garlic curry. Another special is chicken panniyaram. :) you can suggest this hotel to anyone ..
Best idly shop in chennai. Love your red chilli gravy, it's amazing. Good service. Good place to have dinner with friends. Would recommend anyone fr this restaurant.... 😊
This place is near my house and I haven't tried it ..one fine day after reading many review 's I stepped into kozhi idly , and ordered kozhi pepper kozhumbu and one kozhi tokku (only gravies) as take away and I was mind blown by the flavour and taste of both the gravies and the bill amount was Rs 145 ..it's economical too ..i would definitely try once again.
Best idly shop in the town where they serve everything HOT..
Try kozhi pepper roast which was really good as they serve jus two piece of chicken but it's really worth it n mouth watery.
Really a gud place to eat at chennai !! :) worth for money !! Hard to find these kinda restaurants in chennai !! I usually go to gopalapuram branch thing i find it difficult is lack of car parking apart frm that everything is cool :)
Only veg item on the menu is Idly served with Podi and chutney. Priced at 30/-, idlys were served steaming hot. The idly's here are unusually thick, just like how it is made at home. Not the usual thin idlys one will find at Hotels. Nevertheless, it was soft and the podi and chutney were really good.
A very satisfying meal, given the price, quality and quantity. This place can really be a boon for those craving for home cooked food.
I am a idly fan there !! 😂😂😂😂 a good taste and reasonable price ... Worth for ur money 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 good money.. Signature is cheese balls !!

Food shoudnt miss- idly the only main dish, red chilly chicken gravy, chicken leg roast, chicken cheese balls, chicken chukka
A small place without proper dine in facility but it is worth to stand and eat (like kai yeandhi bhawan).
When you miss your sunday special home hot idly with chicken gravy this place will never dissappoint you. Worth repeatative eat.
Any restaurant with a one page menu should be taken seriously. A menu should be like a resume, listing the skills, focused, minimalist and do total justice to what they claim they can do. Kozhi Idli is exactly that, they make few dishes and they make them outstandingly well. Its not a place you want to go for a relaxing dinner, there is no place to sit, sometimes there is not even enough place to stand, but .......(let me keep this minimalist), go eat there, its great food!

Idli - not my favourite food. But decided to try this place anyway due to the rating it has garnered in zomoto. It did not disappoint. Loved the idlies, the pepper kolambu was a good combination. Special mention for their 'Poondu Podi'. Its more of a takeaway joint, with some plastic chairs for the havin-it-here folks. Price was easy on the wallet. Kozhi vada curry and kozhi thokku were good. The cheese balls and 65 weren't worth mentioning. We ordered a soup and it never reached us. Go here if you have a sudden craving for native south indian food.
Being a regular at Kozhi idly's first branch, at Royapettah, it would be unjust to not review this lifesaver of a place. It's been more than a year since I've first stepped into this place and whenever I get bored of world cuisine and need some proper 'namba ooru' style dinner, this is where I end up. Thanks to my goldfish memory, this review will be based only on my most recent visit.
Kozhi Idli is located at Avvai Shanmugham salai, right opposite to AIADMK office. Technically I would consider this as Gopalapuram, but who am I to decide :P This eatery is more of a kiosk rather than a restaurant. It can also be called as a street food joint with walls and a ceiling. As it's located inside a street, parking isn't an issue. Kozhi idly is predominantly into takeaways, which explains the almost nil amount of space for dine in customers. A few plastic chairs inside and a couple outside is all the space there is for hungry dwellers who can't wait to reach home. So there is no question about ambience and decor.
Service wise they try their level best to be friendly and courteous but all that dies a painful death infront of the long waiting time for takeaways. Their main USP is idli and it's combo with chicken gravies. Order this for takeaway and it'll reach our hands in a matter of seconds. But if one does the deadly mistake of ordering any other item from the menu, it'll take it's own sweet time to get to us.
Personally Kozhi idli makes one of the best idlis in town. Those who ask how hard is to make idli perfectly are the ones who don't know how often restaurants mess them up. This time I ordered the usual idly and chicken pepper gravy combo. They also had a special board for chicken vadaicurry. Being the snoopy kid I am, I ended up ordering that too. As the waiting time was pretty high, I also ordered Chicken Masala Vadai which was a big mistake. In the end, my order for these masala vadais took more time and by then, my parcels were ready. Moreover they won't cancel orders because they've apparently 'billed it'. What was more distressing was the fact that the vadais weren't even that great. One would need an electron microscope to find any trace of chicken in it.
Back home, it wasn't that much of a bad experience. To begin with, packaging needs a special mention as not even once during all those many times of getting takeaways, not once did I end up having a mishap. Kudos to that. My combo was enough to save the night. The pepper chicken gravy isn't usually that great but the homemade style and taste of it gets a thumbs up from me. When I thought all was well, the other disappointment made it's way out of the plastic bag. The chicken vadaicurry was totally unappealing and distasteful. Lesson learnt is to play it safe with just the combos and not to do too much Bear Grylls style exploring.
Overall, it's a mixed bag when it comes to reviewing Kozhi idli. Apart from the combos, price of other items seem to be considerably on the higher end. The simplest example are those cheese balls that are 20rs a piece. I remember buying a huge quantity of those frozen counterparts for a few hundred bucks. Kozhi idli can act as the saviour during those last minute failed dinner plans or wrongly gone new recipe trials at home. Other than that there isn't much to get from here.

New No.155, Avvai Shanmugam Salai, Road, Royapettah, Chennai, Tamil Nadu 600014
This place at Royapettah famous for its idlies and the gravies they serve ❤️
A very old property is turned into restaurant to serve authentic dishes of their forefathers. To talk about the food it was so good and the quality was extraordinary. Their kitchen was the cleanest i have seen till now. They follow all ancient practices to make the food and the outcome is also extraordinary ❤️
I personally loved their kozhi Vada, cutlet, kozhi paniyaram, gravies they serve , idlies and elaneer cake ❤️

It’s located at Avvai Shanmugam Salai. The idly was soft and delicious. Chicken rasam was awesome. Will definitely go again.
This place has an average kinda atmosphere only but the Idly and chicken varieties you get here is really awesome. If you want to taste the authentic chettinad kozhi kuzhambu, this place is the perfect. This place doesn't have bike and car parking. They have dessert also. Custard apple desert is awesome here. Nowadays getting an authentic Tamil food has become rare. Whenever we go, we get Chinese, Arab, Italian, North Indian varieties of food. But here whatever we eat everything is like a chettinad home food.
The food was so delicious but the quantity is very low for the cost. The menu items are cleverly listed and you cannot find any base foods you might think to eat. Only their special foods are listed and the prices are high.
Kari dosa , chicken vada and idiyappam with chicken curry are good to try here
Nearby sathyam cinemas (2kms). We went with a lot of expectations. The taste was amazing. But a bit pricey. Each dish costs 50 more than the normal rate available at other restaurants. The goli soda is being sold at MRP(30rs) only at all restaurants. Here it costs 60.
Liked how every dish was unique and tat too with just kozhi… From gravies to dry all items done with authentic taste of down south style … And wat better with our staple Idly …
The team was so courteous and served all dishes in no time … Kudos to the team 👍
Home food , beautiful innovation with chicken with traditional taste , family rooms are awesome 👍 100 years old heritage property makes it more special, must visit place with family , only place in Chennai to serve hot hot idly till night 1 pm
Gud place to have idly..
For veg.. They provide 3hot n soft idly with onion chutney n podi for Rs 45.. Rates would be increased to Rs 60 in 2 days.
Varieties of idlis and other dishes available. Idlis with non veg curries are very tasty.
Food was excellent..And varieties in Idly was awesome...with the best combos
Had Kozhi Milagu rasam and Idly Chutney , Wow wonderful taste. One of the best dishes i have tasted. Chutney was Ultimate. The people working there are very humble. I loved it !! Surya , he Served us, good Service and happy with his work. Highly recommend!!!
MTheir idli was the best that I've tasted in quite some time in Chennai and combined with the thick chutney and delicious gravy it was really a treat for my taste buds. Their chicken panniyaram is special and yummy.
