Good quality food. We like he sandwiches, breakfast dishes, salads and soups. We enjoy going with the kids. Good sweet and breakfast dishes but fairly small menu. My biggest frustration is fairly slow service even when we are the only ones there. Order a team and it won't come before the email.
Also for delivery through zomato they are painfully slow. It Sayles than an hour but it has taken more than 90 MI both times we've ordered. We have not had that problem with other zomato restaurants.
NEW review
This place being quite near to be, is our hangout or meeting joint.
Recently they have introduced their revamped menu and we were invited to try the same.
Located right next to The Raintree at St Mary's Road, Alwarpet, the place is already popular due to their outlet The Cupcake Company.
I like the interiors, quite classy, with lovely lightings, pastel colours, vintage poster frames on the wall. It is a small place, but I guess elite, atleast the price makes it so.
They use good quality ingredients and mostly organic stuff to prepare the food. The menu includes only veg and egg based dishes, no non veg.
We had quite a few drinks and dishes from the new menu.
BEVERAGES:
Homemade Lemonade: My usual order. I love it. At times, they make it quite concentrated, otherwise it is very good.
Lemon Iced Tea: Very refreshing.
Cookie Monster: Nothing fancy about it. Tasted good.
Banana Chocolate: Nice.
Hot Fudge Milk Shake: I liked it.
Nutella Chocolate Milkshake> Very good.
Nutella Hot Chocolate: With generous helping of Nuttela , served in a huge mug, this is a worthy beverage.
Indian Style Onion Rings : with garlic aioli. Go for this one. A better take on the kana bhajji, where onion rings are batter fried and the fritters are damn tasty. You can't stop at one.
Quinoa Tabbouleh: Quinoa with parsley, tomatoes and pomegranate: The healthy food fix, for those looking for diet fix, this works as a good breakfast or any time snack. We were in a mood to hog on, so just had a bite.
Nachos: Very good Nachos, with lovely sour cream and salsa.
Quesadilla: Mexican veggies and cheese: Crisp and fresh.
Gongura Potato Roll with curry leaf aioli : This was surprisingly delicious. Spicy, very south Indian and yum.
Elote: Mexican Corn On Cob: Simple and nice.
Egg in a hole: perfect combination of eggs cooked in the centre of a delicious piece bread topped with shallots and melted cheese. I totally loved this. Ordered again on another occasion.
Fiery Mexican Burger: Mexican Bean Patty with lettuce, slaw and charred onion served with fries. This was fine.
Tomato Basil Pizza: Thin crust pizza with good flavors.
Mushroom and Cheese Pizza: I liked it a lot.
Cream and Mushroom Spaghetti: Lip smacking.
Burmese Broth : Glutton free noodles, bean sprouts, and broccoli with peanuts. Well this comes under the healthy food category and all the ingredients speak for themselves. But it was mind blowing. A one pot meal that is enough for me as it is.
Crepe Lasagna: Crepes layered like lasagna sheets, with a herb cheese and olive oil tossed veggie filling, topped with béchamel and cheddar, baked to perfection and served with french baguette. You need to try this to believe how good it is. Creamy, and a fine example of gourmet cooking.
Desserts:
Classic Vanilla French Toast: topped with maple syrup: I love their crepes and this is a classic one.
Berry Yoghurt: with fruits, chia seeds and nuts. This was berry berry good

Tucked away in little corner of the buzzling alwerpet . This is place is must visit if u want peace n quite. Top knotch ambience and interiors that make you sometimes forget you are in chennai . Well behaved teens , cute lil couples , mom n daughter dates or a cappa by urself can be best enjoyed here .
Now for the food !
Pancakes ,waffles , pasta the list is endless for some amazing nibbles.
Top on my list is the nutellah hot chocolate tat is to die for . A huge dollop of nutellah to lick away always waits even after you finish the drink.
Perks of the place is that it's on the same campus as 'The cupcake company' who hve THE BEST CUPCAKE IN TOWN . PERIOD . Hats off to the baker who's never changed the quality since 5 years.
Small, elegant place with good decor and nice ambiance. A varied menu from multiple cuisines, French, Italian, Tex Mex and Indian, though a limited one. A nice place to get away from the hubbub of the city and eat in peace.

On the House Meal over an Invite...
Kitchen 187 Creperie and Cafe has been one such outlet which was always on my radar but being a person who is not that frequent to alwarpet locality the actual visit came after such a long time...This restaurant is neatly tucked inside a complex next to Raintree hotel on the St.Mary's road..Clubbed inside a home style building along with cupcake company...Learned that the number actually denotes the Address of the place...The place has some good parking and is well maintained and looks really good...
Its basically a outlet that serves some decent french food...
The Dining is pretty small to seat not more than 30 odd ppl...but what stands out at this outlet is neat and artistically designed ambiance...with just glass walls on 2 side which gives the outlet much needed natural light in the day..and the decor and furniture and also the cutleries give the outlet a posh look...and definitely this is the best aspect of this outlet...The service was good and friendly and also with the wide range of items ordered we did not have wait long for the food to be served...
I personally tried a few items and give below is my take on them...
Started off with some Drinks and Shakes..
Homemade Lemonade : Was the traditional good tasting Lemonade but was too concentrated which left a itchy feeling in the throat..
Lemon Ice Tea : Was Pretty average stuff..nothing special...
Cookie Monster : A Cookie Based thick Chocolate Milkshake with some crushed Cookies on top...was really chocolaty and lipsmackingly good...
Banana Chocolate : Another awesome milkshake with chocolate more predominant in taste than the banana..
Hot Fudge Milkshake : Milkshake with hot fudge mixed in pretty well and another good tasting drink...
Quinoa Tabbouleh : A Salad basically of quinoa mixed in with tomatoes and pomegranate served along with Garlic bread....was just about decent...
Indian Style Onion Rings : Onion rings deep fried in a batter given a crispy finish and topped with a bit of mayo...was good...
Nachos : The Nacho chips served along with topping of red beans...The Nacho Chips were not that great and were not edibile separately...went only along with the toppongs..
Quesadilla : With Veggies and Lots of cheese was really good...with Crispy shell and juicy and tasty filling....
Gongura Potato Roll : One of the best pics of the meal..Spicy fried potatoes in a crispy parotta kind of wrap...Really yummy..
Elote : Basically Corn on Cob...topped with Mayo...Pretty decent in taste..
Tomato Basil Pizza : Another one the great dishes of the Meal..Crispy and well cooked base topped with lots of sauce and cheese and with a hint of basil...
Mexican Burger : Decent Burger served along with fries..
Cream and Mushroom Spaghetti : Creamy and well cooked spaghetti with some good amount of mushrooms..was good in taste...
Burmese Broth : The Best of the lot as claimed by the restaurant representatives...with glutton free noodles along with lots of bean sprouts and broccoli...Was simply amazing...
Lasagna : Neatly served in a cup basically with lots of cheese and mushrooms tacked in between pasta sheets...
Classic Vanilla French Toast : The Classic french toast as the name suggests but was really awesome in taste...well cooked with perfect amount of ingredients...and the maple syrup served along with it was really good...
Ice Cream Sandwich : My first try at this item and must say wasn that impressed...The outer shell was too hard and did not really go well..
Nutella Crepe With Banana : A perfect Crepe with loads of Nutella..but i personally felt there could have a few more banana slices...
Overall the meal was definitely impressed me a lot except for a couple of items..The Pricing of the items will definitely fall of the higher end but for a few items i would say it is a decent bet..With some good ambiance and good service along with some good food Kitchen 187 will definitely be one of those spots that can well be given a shot....
Kitchen 187, a Creperie - quaint little crepe joint, is situated at the same premises as that of the Cupcake Company. 187 denotes the house number where this place is, right next to The Rain Tree on St. Mary’s Road.
This place has a very lovely and serene ambience with artistically designed monochrome patterned floor tiles, bright colored interiors and fancy cutleries. Decor is posh and totally French! We were invited for a food tasting session here. They have an amazing array of mouth-watering assortment in the form of French toasts, French Crepes, All day Breakfasts, Milkshakes, Desserts and so on.
We started off with Beverages and shakes. Being a Nutella fanatic, Nutella Hot Chocolate seemed to be a perfect choice. Three pink marshmallows were served along with the cup as an added delight. This luscious hot chocolate was a perfect warm up and wow to my taste buds. Of the other beverages that I tried, lemonade - served in a bulb shaped funky drinking glass - and Cookie monster were pretty good.
Quinoa Tabbouleh, the classic Middle Eastern nutrient-packed salad was very different to my taste buds.
Moving on to Indian bites, we did get to try Gongura Potato Roll and Onion rings. The Crunchy golden fried
Onion rings was amazing and went well with the dips. Gongura Potato Roll was so freakingly good! Andhra styled Kathi roll version stuffed with deliciously fried potatoes.
Tex Mex collection was quite a mixed bag. Quesadilla, the tasty dish that has its roots in the Mexican cuisine was delicious. Nachos tasted a little bit off.
Burmese broth, Burmese-style noodles was served from Health bowl collection. Quite different in taste, healthy and definitely worth trying. Attack with a spoon and fork while the broth is hot!
Tomato basil pizza was top class. It vanished from the plates all too quickly and that tells you how good it was.
Beautiful crepe lasagna was served in a bowl. Absolutely indulgent, amazingly creamy and yummy. We were left scraping the bottom of the bowl for whatever bit remained.
Creamy mushroom spaghetti pasta, a continental styled mushroom and spaghetti in rich creamy sauce was Okayish. Burger was pretty normal.
Moving on to the desserts, Nutella Crepe with bananas was the pick of the lot and definitely a treat for one’s sweet cravings.
Ice-cream sandwich with a harder chocolate shell and ice-cream squeezed inside was pretty good.
Overall, Kitchen 187 is just not a place to go to for its lovely ambiance, it’s more of a place where you can have sometime for yourself with really good food!
I love red! and red is the hue. Comfortable furnishings, pleasing interior decor and non-prickly lighting adds to the charm. Set inside a placid residential compound in Alwarpet, next to the Cupcake Co., with a big enough courtyard, this café envelopes itself with serenest air in Chennai. A couple of hours in here can smooth out the anxieties of your daily life.
We were a group of ten, so we were able to try many of their items in the menu. We started with drinks. I went for good old lemonade. It was served in a bulb.
Salads. Quinoa Tabbouleh. For those who don't know, Quinoa is a sub-cereal native to South America. The salad however presented an unusual combination. (Boiled?) Quinoa with parsley and pomegranate rubies. It wasn't very popular among others, but I loved it.
Indian Bites. Onion Rings were just "meh". The rock star of the day was Gongura Potato Roll. Fried potatoes spiced in a very Indian way, wrapped in a bread similar to that of Malabar Parotta. Extremely Yum! A must try. If you have Indian taste buds, they are going to thank you!
Health Bowls. Burmese Broth. Yummy soup-ish gravy with flat noodles. Loved it. Another must try.
Tex Mex. Nachos and Quesedilla. Super duper. Elote is nothing but plain old corn cob with white sauce.
Italian. Cream & Mushroom Spaghetti and Tomato Basil Pizza. Nice. Mushroom Cheese Pizza was too bland for my palate.
Burgers. Fiery Mexican Burger. Though cliché, praises to the patties.
French. Crepe Lasagna. Very nice.
Toasts. All Classic Vanilla Cinnamon French Toast. Nice.
Desserts. Ice-cream Sandwich was a googly. Nutella Crepe with Banana was the best among the desserts. Chocolate Mousse Pot With Berries & Cream was not my thing. Crepe With Fudge Sauce & Whip Cream was alright.
All this goodness comes at a dear price. But, hey, it is totally worth a visit on a special day with your loved ones.
A small, but neatly decorated place. Elegant interiors. Just like the place, the menu was limited too. We took a Nutella French Toast, Crepe with hot fudge and cream and a Mushroom/Cheese Pizza.
1) French toast was Yummm. Fat fluffy bread topped with Nutella.
2) Crepe was okay. Was too subtle for my taste buds. Could have been added more cream and chocolate sauce.
3) Mushroom n Cheese pizza was Great. Being Thin crust pizza it still filled our stomach's to a decent extent. Rich Cheese taste along with shredded mushrooms was purely magical.
Costed us 1.1k for these 3 dishes. A quite evening place with selected menu. Serves best for subtle hangouts.
I really like the setting of Kitchen 187. It gives a very languid feel and the blend of the colonial style vintage ambient with the new age brushstroke touches certainly points towards the right path. There are cafe's all over town but only some get that perfect laidback atmosphere right and Kitchen 187 falls in the affirmative. It is converted from a quaint old house and is located next to Raintree hotel in St Mary's road and it shares space with The cupcake company.
Brick walls surround the outside enclosure and on the inside is a splash of painted red walls and black sofa seating and lazy wooden chairs. The chess board style flooring adds a rather nice touch going in sync with the surrounding environment and the miniatures hanging are minimalistic and mild music is played at the background.
We were here on an invite to try out some of their offerings. We got to try various sections from their menu with different naming conventions such as All day breakfast, Salads, Sandwiches&burgers, Health bowls, Indian bites, Italia Cucina, Tex Mex, French crepes, smoothies, milk shakes, desserts, ice creams and hot&cold beverages.
The shakes and beverages were up on the mark and I personally enjoyed my Nutella chocolate milkshake having a strong essence of stirred nutella which was lip-smacking. Even the other shakes viz the hot fudge, cookie monster, nutella banana et al all were pretty good in their own sweet way. The lemonade drink in a conical shaped bottle was also quite refreshing.
In the Indian bites space both the onion rings and the Gongura potato were top notch and were stand out performers. The onion rings were crunchy and laced with a dripping of cheese and garlic aioli. The Gongura potato rolls were quite a revelation with an Andhra style mix inside a kathi roll. The salad in the form of Quinoah Tabouleh comprising of parsley, tomato and cucumbers wasn't much to speak about and on the Tex Mex side, the Nachos felt a tad too try with the cheese strangled awkwardly and but for the kidney beans by the side wasn't really too appetising. However the Quesadillas inset with mexican veggies and cheese made up more than lost ground by being remarkable. The Mexican corn on cob were pretty much your usual beach corn kinds with a mexican dressing to boot. We tried the Burmese Broth from the health bowl set and it was quite interesting. I've never tried such a thing before and I fairly enjoyed slurping this up. The fiery Mexican burger was pretty mainstream and managed to serve the purpose.
Both the pizza's we tried competed for top stakes and especially the Tomato basil pizza was one of the finest I've tasted. They nailed the spicy gravy mix which was superlative. The mushroom and cheese version was nice too. For pasta, we preferred the cream and mushroom spaghetti and though the dish was well delivered, that extra zing factor was slightly missing. The crepe lasagne was a master class and again something unique and divergent. And so was the egg in a hole under the all day breakfast category which was an interesting banter between bread, eggs and cheese. The vanilla cinnamon french toast went jocularly well with the maple syrup and the sweetened essence was tapped wonderfully.
The desserts too went in line with the high standards set by following it's predecessors. The nutella crepe with bananas is like your go to dish to satisfy your sweet cravings. Known for their crepes, it must be said they did a great job of it both on the savoury as well as on the sweetened avatars. The ice cream sandwich though hard to crack was regal and rich in taste.
The service was in adherence throughout and we never really had a long waiting time in between the items. Also they were very helpful with all our requests. Pricing is not applicable as it over an on the house. A glance at the rates would indicate they are a little on the higher side but considering the fest on offer seems a fair bet.
To adumbrate the experience at Kitchen 187, the positives far outweigh the negatives. You cannot ask for more from a place having the ideal cafe like setup with some lovely food on offer. If your quest is towards comfort and good food, Kitchen 187 will ensure to have that satisfied for you.
My sister and I had a lunch date to catch up with usual gossip. We picked this place and the place is well located with beautiful ambience and love the way they have done the cafe with red bricks and the interiors were also done well. The cafe was not full but our tummies were, food was too good. They also have a small bakery. Loved their crêpes, and sundaes. If you like a chilled afternoon casual dining try this place.
The moment you enter the premises, you are kinda lost because all you can see is a huge white colonial style house. You wonder "this is nothing like the pictures I saw" and then the watchman after seeing your quizzical expression asked where I want to go and then pointed out to his right, and there it was, screaming *French* in all its glory.
When I entered, no one was there except for the ppl who take orders. It was very peaceful, calm and quiet.. So I was able to revel in the beautiful decor and surroundings, taking everything in. The black and white square tiled floor, the huge chandeliers, the plush seatings, the old school metallic stuffs and posters were a delight to be looked at.
We ordered a waffle with Chocolate Sauce. It was a good ol' plain waffle drizzled with chocolate sauce on the top. It was very fresh and a bit chewy with the sauce. Just the way I like it. We then proceeded with a white Sauce Pasta. What we got looked like aglio olio but OMG the flavour was so intense with garlic, that everyone seemed to like it and it vanished from the plate soon. The pizza that we ordered was a Tomato, Basil and Spinach Capers. It had less cheese but ample sauce in it and the thin crust was crispy which made it kinda difficult to eat nevertheless the flavour was good. I was full already and so I tasted only a small piece of the Savoury French Toast that contained Cheddar Cheese and Buttererd Mushrooms. All I could taste was butter, butter and more butter from it..
For drinks I ordered the Hot Chocolate. It was served with three cute little pink marshmallows. The hot chocolate was served in this huge mug. Huge is an understatement because after a while it got difficult to drink as the chocolate flavour was very intense. Maybe when you have nothing else to do and want to have a mug of hot chocolate on a rainy day, this is the best place to have it. The others ordered a berry and banana smoothie. I just had a sip and it was very youghurty. The iced tea was bad according to a few. But anyways, I stuck to my Hot Chocolate.
The place might seem pricey but once you get the food, you know the efforts and the best ingredients that has got into it. Place to catch up with your friends over nice food? Oh yes, then this is the place to go. This quaint little French place with all its glass enclosures that make you enjoy the greenery outside, is sure to mesmerise you.!
Food - Great..., Ambience - Great.., not too crowded on a weekday afternoon. The mocktails are good too..
Courteous staff... great location... Lot of space to chill out...
Value for money? Hmm.. .. Slightly on the higher side. But a must visit..
I ordered Spinach, Poached eggs and Hollandaise Crepe. It was really good and the delivery was express too. The only negative i find is that they are a tad on the more expensive side

ADMIRABLE..ADORABLE..AESTHETIC..
These three words would sum up the AMBIANCE of this cafe. I had my Pre-Wedding shoot at this place . That's like a major thowback to 2015 :P
Kitchen 187 was the location courtesy for my shoot. It was an early evening, and everyone was bothered about the shoot, but then there was me, who was concerned about some food ;)
Orders : DOUBLE CHOCOLATE CUP CAKE - Divine, loaded with real choco-chip and made with rich coco batter adn iced with Choco cream..this was totally sinfully. Even after a year, i can remember how tasty it was.
HAZELNUT CAPPUCINO : They served the coffee in a Red cup, which perfectly gelled with our attires. The coffee was tasty and thick and we even used it as a set prop.
PRICING: Remember paying somewhere around Rs400.
VERDICT : Do visit them for some calm coffee date with your loved ones but with a heavy pocket :P
Kitchen 187 – Sounds French Right ? yes it is ! the name comes from the house number where the restaurant is situated. This cute little french cafe is all you need to visit if you want to enjoy a cup of Hot chocolate and a french toast , you will fall in love with this calm and pretty ambience instantly.so if you’re bored with sweet and savoury crepes then you can slide to the Cupcake shop for some delicious variety of Cupcakes, definitely a Double Treat !
The food is really really good. The cakes are a must try. The savory crepes were amazing (cheese lovers must get their hands on this) and the sweet crepes just melted in our mouth. The ambience was serene. The perfect spot for brunch
If someone asks me refer French cuisine places in town, my compass always targets the pastry shops/restaurants in Pondicherry. Little did I know there was a restaurant adjacent to Cupcake company in St Mary’s road. Kitchen 187 Creperie & Café is something which got added into my bookmarks after I came to know when I was deliberating searching for French places. And friend's birthday was a good excuse for us try out.
It’s in the St.Mary’s road, Alwarpet and next door to the Raintree hotel. There’s sufficient space for parking.
Ambiance is the best part which will make you go awe. Black and white checker flooring and top notch seating give you a lavishing dining experience.
We started by ordering Waffles with chocolate syrup which tasted pretty good. As it’s a regular waffle, the pockets were small and waffle was big. Then we had arrabiatta pasta which had less white sauce in it. The garlic bread that came along was too hard to bite. Then we had the Tomato, Basil and spinach caper pizza. The pizza was thin crust and the bottom was crispy however it had less cheese topping which appealed us. Finally, we had the savory cheddar French toast with butter mushrooms. It looked visually appetizing yet the mushrooms were too chunky and the toast wasn’t hot enough.
For drinks we had the mixed berry smoothie which had more banana and yogurt into it than other berries. Hot chocolate with marshmallow was the best drink as the drink was in right temperature and marshmallows are in best quality. The lemon iced tea wasn’t our favorite as it had less lemon and more tea content in it.
Service was good but they are understaffed. Dish preparation time tests one’s patience. Pricing is high, of course. For a few dishes, It is worth the penny spent. So, look into the best and order.
This place is just absolutely brilliant for a quiet romantic breakfast. Situated in the posh proximity of Raintree in the neighborhood of R.A.Puram, this place is indeed great. The ambiance inside was too artistic and lovely. The food was delicious too. Pricy but worth the money if you're taking a date.
This is my second visit to this place. It is located adjacent to Raintree Hotel, it shares its space with Cupcake company. The Building itself looks cute from outside.
We ordered a Banana Smoothie, French fries with cheese, Zesty Lemon Cupcake, Red velvet Jar and Waffles with Vanilla ice cream and maple syrup. The fries were very average. Smoothie was good. Cupcake was very soft, but the frosting was a tad sour. Redvelvet was awesome. The waffles tasted a little eggy, tasted better with vanilla and the syrup.
The staffs were friendly and the service was quick. Bill was around Rs.1100.

Amazing food. One place in chennai to get a good buckwheat crepe. But they run out the buckwheat soon. Pricey place. So if you're looking for a cheap place to eat at, you might want to avoid this kitchen.
Cool and calm place in the midst of Chennai.

One of the classic place to be !!
One of the pretty and most beautiful places in Chennai to eat and extremely delicious food (not to forget with a lot of cheese and butter and hence very heavy but good food). Everything I ordered could be a must try, mushroom and cheese pizza, basil pesto penne, triple cheese crepe were all really good, penne especially. Amongst drinks, you shouldn't miss the Nutella Hot chocolate or the Classic Hot Chocolate.
Right beside you find the Cupcake Company, to which I would rate 3.5-4 because they were really nice but I've had better cupcakes elsewhere.
Came here in the evening to have a cup of green tea. Nice place and ambience. A little pricey but worth the place. Nice place to chill out into in the evening.
I love Kitchen 187! French classics playing the background, quiet servers doing their job and the food is brilliant. Very few restaurants in Chennai maintain the ambience that Kitchen 187 so easily blends into. I recommend the pizza of the day. BUT the real hero of this restaurant is the grilled cheese sandwich. This sandwich is everything. Wash it down with cold coffee and you have your perfect Sunday morning.
Slightly overpriced but worth the experience!
We were 13 of us and we were looking out for a nice place for dinner after watching jungle book😃 on sat.
We decided to head to this place.
We ordered spicy bean crepe with sour cream and picaddi galo. This tasted really nice. So we went ahead and ordered another portion of it. But, there was a problem. It did not taste the same as the first one. When I mentioned it to my friends, they said I maybe too full that's why I feel that way. Upon enquiring with the waiter, it was indeed another chef who made the second one.
We also cream spinach with cheddar and caramelized onions crepe. My friends liked this one.
The mushroom and cheese pizza was the best among everything.
Then we ordered also Spaghetti Aglio e olio. This too turned out to be good and was quite tempting.
Ambience-4.5/5
Service- 4.5/5
Value for money- A bit costly but it is worth given the location and ambience
Quality- 4/5 as the crepe tasted a bit different the second time.
My friend ordered chocolate black-out. This was awesome that so much so he was focusing only on the ice-cream.😊

Perfect for breakfast. Loved the egg in a hole... A little too expensive, but worth the occasional splurge. great ambience. Service could be better..
I took to an almost instant liking to this place on my very first visit here. This quaint little crepe joint housed in the heart of the city gives you a warm fuzzy feeling of dining at home. Loved the spicy bean crepe with sour cream and pica di galo! Have also tried their variety of hot and cold beverages on multiple ocassions. Overall a nice cozy place to spend some quality time with your dear ones!
Great cafe like ambience . Service is little slow but very attentive. We ordered classic French toast , mushroom duxelles crepe & spaghetti aglio de olio. The French toast tasted great , but was too soft on the inside. The crepe was very good and perfect. The pasta was too too oily. Definitely worth another visit . The lemonade here used to be very good . But it was terrible today , had to have one sip and leave it. Despite complaining about it we were billed for it.
Quite a quaint place. Loved the decor and the ambience. The food was quite decent too. However, a little too expensive for my liking. You might have to be loaded if in case you'd like to enjoy a full meal. Nevertheless, it is a must-visit place.
Love the basil pesto penne here!! Could sound to be a bit pricey, but the food is exotic..
And The place seems to be a neat feel good place.
My husband and I have tried Kitchen 187 recently.. and omg.. i'm still not over the taste :D We're a crepe craving couple and St.Mary's for sure pulled us in there ;-)
We flew down to Madras for just a week and really didn't have too much time running around ticking off the list of restaurants we always want to try.. but this time, it was Kitchen 187!
We decided to have the Basil Pesto with Oven dried Tomatoes, Caramelized Onions and Goat Cheese for my husband and I picked the the Crepe Lasagne..
I must say - definitely worth a try! It was total indulgence with the Lasange and such freshness in the Basil of the Pesto crepe didn't want us to be done with it!
The chef really knew what he was making! :)
It is a little pricey, but somehow it felt right, when we were done with our dinner!
Love the ambience! Perfect for the two of us, on a random evening with the open seating!
Will definitely make space for those delish cupcakes next time :)
Ambience is like too good perfect date spot
Good food
Their Nutella crepes is like amazingly good
Service was ok
Over all experience was good
No complaints
We happened to be early for another place and wanted to munch on something. Hence the pit-stop. To our surprise, we liked it from the get-go; the ambience, music and in general the way in which everything was. We ordered the egg and cheese crepe and the crepe suzette. The crepe suzette was exactly what it claimed to be and has become one of my favourite crepes. My daughter and husband enjoyed the egg and cheese crepe which was simple but packed with flavor. This place is a must-try for all crepe lovers. We also ordered the Nutella hot chocolate which was not anything different from what one would imagine. If you're ever in the Alwarpet area, a little stop at this place will definitely make your tummy happy.
Well amidst the hustle and bustle of St. Mary lies this beautiful little French café. Offering some bespoke French cravings ! I fell for the array of French toast choices they had ! A must try is the classic vanilla cinnamon FT ! While they do have some Italian dishes as well ! I would stick to the French ! My friend begs to differs as he craves for the pesto pasta calling it the best in town ! I leave that judgement to your calling ! Overall a classic cafe feel right in the heart of Chennai ! A must try for you people dating out there ! It's a perfect spot to begin your story☺️

Been here for dinner. Ordered mushroom cheese pizza , melted cheese French fries and basil penne pasta. Pizza was 10 inches..regular dominos pizza size..Pizza was okay but pasta was good..one thing about pasta was being very dry..asked him for a mix of sauce..he denied..French fries was a normal one..not so special for it's prize.. total bill for all these 3 were 1353..felt very costly..can try it once..they don 've much options too..

Best crepes in town. So yumm!!! Had the olive oil tossed seasonal veggies, with goat's cheese (my favorite kind of cheese) and bèchamel sauce. It was a little pricey, but so worth it. The ambience is quaint and vet enjoyable.
P.s. Cupcakes from the cupcake place adjacent is a must.
The cyclone gave me some really free time to check out a few places that I've been wanting to. Reached Kitchen 187 In this pouring rain.
I was quite happy that they had parking and everything. It looks really inviting.
Cupcake company and Kitchen 187 share one area. They have different entrances but overall are the same place. We just ordered a mushroom and cheese pizza, a nutella and caramalized banana crepe as well as an ice tea.
The ice tea was good. Not the readymade stuff. A little too much lemon but thats okay.
The Nutella and Caramelized Banana Crepe was absolutely the best. They definitely were not stingy with using the nutella. And the caramelized banana was really good. Reminded me of the fried banana- kerala style. I would definitely recommend this!
The pizza was a bit disappointing. I guess eating non vegetarian pizzas spoils the whole idea of a vegetarian one. It was thin crust and way too small for the price we paid. Around ₹450. It was seasoned well, and tasted pretty decent. But I think they need to increase the quantity or reduce the cost.
I really ambience and would definitely visit again for the crepe!
Charming place with a nice Parisian vibe. Quite disappointed with the lack of ham and cheese crepes. Having said that, this very vegetarian creperie does have some highlights. The pesto in the pesto galette ordered was excellent. The lemon curd crepe for dessert was also well made. However, don't think I'll be spending ~ 500/- on crepes anytime soon!
First of all, I was disappointed to find out that they didn't actually serve non-veg, but I learned later that they served egg which does constitute as non-veg to an extent.
All that aside, it was a really nice evening with my mother. I've had this place on my list for months now and I was just waiting for the right time to go. The decor and ambience was perfect and I also love that it's attached to The Cupcake Factory, because you can get the best of everything under one roof! The food was really good and varied. It might have been due to the fact that we were the only ones there, but service was quick and the food was delicious. We have savoury crepes, because it was dinner - not that it's ever stopped me before. The service was good too, prompt and polite. I would definitely want to go back on a busy day to see how things are like that, but it was a nice change from the usual kind of restaurants I've been seeing around and frequenting.
Great variety of vegetarian food ... The food was fresh and tasty .... They also have eggless crepes which is great and have an extensive menu ... Good options for breakfast also... French toast , pizza pastas ... They have a combo offer for lunch ..490 for a crepe and a drink..which is well worth it and very filling
This was one of those places that's been in my bookmark list for months & I chose to try it with a couple of hardcore foodies . It was easy to spot and there is ample parking for about ten cars. Kitchen 187 is within a compound attached to cup cake factory . It's cozy and can seat 25 ppl at once. The theme is quiet enjoyable and my eyes kept darting to the interesting wall art photos and the decor . The menu is a 4 page one . We ordered the Maple syrup crepe with nuts , lemon ice tea , banana smoothie , french toast with maple syrup and Nutella hot chocolate ! Every did was scrumptious except the ice tea and banana smoothie , both the drinks lacked blending and sweetness , I could make better the same thing at home so it will suffice to say that it needed to be done better for 150 rupees / glass. Service could be a bit more prompt , we had to call them twice to get there attention. I wanted to rate 4.5 but the mediocre drinks and service got it down to 4.0 . I'll revisit this place and rate if they get better . With that said , this place will not disappoint you if you love creps and your sure to be satisfied if you are a sweetheart tooth and if you eat with your eye Priyadarshini Subramani Tina Chandar
Very nice place. French themed restaurant. Even the music which they play are in French. Food is amazing here but it's a bit costly. The quantity is quite little. Taste wise it's good. Pastas cooked perfectly with good pesto flavours. Smoothies were the best here. They have the cupcake company too. Located near the raintree hotel. Good food good life.
Really had a nice day in kitchen 187 with friends...awesome ambience loved the ambience..the person who was serving us was really very friendly..everything we ordered really tastes good..
This place is next to raintree hotel, alwarpet in St Mary's road. Have space to park few cars. Ambiance is excellent. Service is also good. There specialties are crepe and cakes. They also have pizza, pasta etc which are not in the menu.
Crepes are nothing but Pan Cakes I would ca-locally says as wheat dosa stuffed and topped in there style. I ordered Mushroom Duxelles (Eggless) and Sweet Crepe with butterscotch sause and walnut. Duxelles taste good. Cheese they use in it also outstanding. Sweet crepe is good but not upto my expectation.
The worst part is price which is very high even after considering the location, ambiance etc.It cost me Rs.555/- + tax for mushroom duxelles alone. If you ignore the price, this place is definitely worth giving a try.
Beware - By default most of them contains egg. So be specific. Choose those eggless dishes specifically highlighted.
A superb place at a great location. The place is small but the ambience is very vibrant. Tried a lot of things here. The sandwich and the pastas were very good. Also liked the iced tea that was served. Pizza can be avoided. The pop corn ice cream was awesome as well. Overall a great place to hang out, a very calm place.. Although a bit on the expensive side.
I love going to this place... first the ambience. .. it is so chic!!! N if u love crepes... n chocolate then this is the place to be!!! Have been to this place more than twice n it never disappointed me!! But it's little on the higher end. .. or if two smoothie n one chocolate crepes cost u 800 bucks.. n its not so high then m happy for u! P.S I would pay anything for the crepes!! Ohhhh ya.. pls be specific tat u want yr food hot... they happen to serve cold crepes to me n it was not so good(just happened once)... so be specific!
This restaurant is about so much more than just amazing food. Plenty has been said about the quality and prices of the fare. It is definitely great-tasting food, that brings to mind that served in European bistros, while retaining a personal signature that makes the menu an interesting read. The mood lighting, seating, ornaments and even the flower arrangements are a homage to the South of France - in South India! It I have no pretensions to being a gourmet nor a world traveller, but a meal at Kitchen 187 makes me aspire to the kind of connoissance that the owner and chefs wear lightly on their sleeve.
This is the place for crêpes. But unfortunately my friends and I we not in the mood for one. So we ordered a spaghetti and a pizza both which were on the specials menu. And we were super hungry so as the food came we finished it without few minutes. We also ordered a drink which was good. About the deco which blew our minds out is the way they brought in the pop art ambiance mixed with an English theme. Loved how the checkered flooring blended with the red wall and the glass facade where you can see the outside. The outside is also well planned and most of all kept neat. There could be more exposure about this place.
Kitchen 187 is situated right next to the Raintree hotel in Alwarpet. The ambience is lovely and the place has a very rich look. The music that goes on is nice too :)
Food is delicious. The French Toast is very well made and tastes yummy.
Both the sweet crepes and the chef's special crepes are worth ordering.
Service is quick.
The cupcake company is connected with this, so you can also grab some of the yummiest cupcakes from one of the best cupcake shops in Chennai, if you wish to :P
This place is a little overpriced. But, the quality of food, the ambience and the service, makes it worth it!
This place is very much secluded and private , which attracts peolpe for its delicious signature cup cakes. One can easily give it a miss in alwarpet, if not for its illuminated board. One fine evening and their cupcake, time flies by just like that. Strawberry and vanilla cup cakes ,being my favourite. Every time I go, I end up having a stomach full of cupcakes.
Kitchen 187- one stop cup cake shop in Chennai.
We stopped by for Sunday brunch at 10 and found the place to be empty. This cafe is petite and charming and the food certainly satisfied my brunch craving. We first ordered Caramelized vanilla and cinnamon French toast. It was amazing. Gooey with caramel, crisped up perfectly with soft succulent bread and a wonderful balance of vanilla and Cinnamon. This is a must have ! We also did Nutella crepes which was good. For a savory bite we did the tomato, basil, spinach and capers thin crust pizza which was packed full of flavor and delicious. We did the strawberry smoothie, cold coffee and lemon iced tea all of which were great (not too sweet). The service was good and I would definitely return to try more. Highly recommend this place for brunch.
I saw this place next to Raintree and was too tempted to visit it as I was badly craving for cold coffee. The place has an amazing ambience, small but cosy and very classy. I only ordered a classic cold coffee and it looked and tasted very fabulous. They had some amazing pasta on their menu. Unfortunately i couldn't try it out. This place is overpriced, but definitely has a good menu to try out.
Good food! Loved their French toast .. Had a well made French toast after long 😊 have really good crepes as well! Definitely a must try!! 👍🏻
Crepes were mouth watering n finally a good Crepes place is here.... Nutella banana crepe was good... N Caramelised French Toast was too sweet... Only if you have sweet tooth you could bet on this place.
Serving staff ambience was very much English type...
Best crepes !! Good ambience ! The pesto pasta tasted different from other Italian cuisines . good flavours ! Menu seemed to be inviting !!!
It was a meet up with an old school friend of mine and as she is placed at Alwarpet, I thought it'll be better to find a place there itself. Alwarpet being one of those foodie havens of our city, almost all places are those that are done and dusted by me. That's when I remembered a fellow foodie friend talking about this new place called Kitchen 187. So without a second thought, the foodie in me was excited about trying a new place and we decided this to be our meeting spot.
After the co-owner of Coco Jaunt 1728 in Anna nagar explained the history behind the number following the name, I was wondering what mystery lies behind the name Kitchen 187. Only when I searched for this place on google maps, I figured out that it's called so as it's located in house number 187 at St. Mary's road. Sometimes we end up thinking complex solutions for a simple question and this was one such moment for me. Talking about it's location, Kitchen 187 is located right next to The Raintree hotel. St. Mary's road is lucky enough to be one of those few roads that are completely covered by trees which makes the place calm and serene. This is a huge contrast to the usual bustling area that Alwarpet is. A classic looking bungalow was in the middle of the land and this cafe was neatly tucked in at a corner. There is abundant space for bike parking outside and cars are allowed to park inside the compound. First impressions were very positive. The place looked classy and posh. Kitchen 187 shares its space with a cupcake company branch. The black and white tiles along with the plush leather couches reminded me of Paris's cafes and the bright coloured wall on one side with plain bricks on another was a nice touch.
Service was very very good and on par with 5 star hotels. They were extremely courteous. Apart from the couch, rest of the furnitures looked simple. A small bucket shaped steel container had a bunch of cutleries. Menu looked short and simple with some crepes, galettes, sandwiches, toasts, salads, drinks and desserts. My friend got herself a Lemon Curd filled Crepe with Mixed Berry Compote topped with creme. Usually each item name will have a description below but here the name itself describes the dish. It was served along with maple syrup that was given in a beautiful looking glass container with a wooden cork. She completely loved it for it's subtle sweetness and quality. I got myself a Savory Cheddar French Toast with Butter Mushrooms. It was an overfilled cheddar sandwich with cheese oozing out along with a portion of sauteed seasoned mushrooms. The toast was served with a side of ketchup and mustard sauce. This dish was a perfect example for comfort food. It tasted pretty good and was very filling, thanks to the cheese.
The biggest shock of the evening came in form of the bill. The crepe and toast was 700rs and along with a tax of 70rs the end total was 770rs. For a second I was confused if this place is somehow connected with the Raintree hotel next door because the price looked similar to theirs. Even though I could understand how awesome the service and ambience is and how good the food is, I couldn't help but notice how expensive they are. The items seem to be priced exuberantly high. Overall, it was some really good food but the price will make me say 'oh, I forgot my wallet' the next time I'm here.

Quaint decor, quiet ambiance and amazing basil pesto penne summed up as a perfect date night day ( night, rather! ). The banana smoothie is something to die for!
So you are in a mood for a chit chat that doesn't get rudely interrupted by some jarring music, deafening traffic and over-zealous servers and a lap of greenery is a must? Head to this quaint little cafe, nestled inside a vintage bunglow, just adjacent to the Hotel Raintree, Alwarpet. Since its part of Cupcake Company, you know you can trust their absolutely delicious crepes and pancakes. A wide array of choices makes the menu handsome and the option to get many of those crepes custom made without egg, makes the experience even more endearing. Grab a cuppa to go along and assure yourself a great time! The team is amiable and attentive. The ambience is colorful and vibrant without sacrificing space or hygiene. There is ample parking space too. The rates won't tear your wallet and the service adds up nicely.
Recommended, especially to crepe hoggers!
Meal for 2: INR 1000.
Come to this place. Because after a busy day in chennai heat, you deserve a good Crepe with amazing indoors. A wonderful place to sit with a friend or to just sit with a book in hand, and enjoy some delicious pan cakes with some coffee while some wonderful French music plays in the cafe.
This is actually a really nice cafe. It has a nice feel to it and the food is really nice, tasty and filling. It's also reasonably priced.
Service is a little slow but it's a chance to sit and enjoy life if you aren't in a hurry. The staff are friendly and helpful.
One tip might be to get a better coffee machine with some different sized cups. The coffee quality would be improved and everything wouldn't have to be served in large cups. For example the espresso which came out as a sort of Americano when we ordere one.
Don't forget the cupcakes in the glass cabinet around the corner. We tried a couple as takeaways and they were nice.
Yes we will be back.
Went with a friend for post lunch dessert
First of all ,full points of the ambiance .the place has ample Parkin space and the interiors are cutely done .the colors red walls black & white flooring look very appealing .
The food :
We were jus wondering why the place was soo empty and the answer came wen we glanced onto their menu .they are exorbitantly priced ..the milkshakes are priced at 370.except for some teas n smoothies n some French toasts everythin was 400 and above. we anyways ordered the Nutella crepe with caramelised banana .it was good .but there could been more caramelised bananas .
Kitchen 187 located at St Mary's road, Alwarpet is a unit of Cup Cake Company.
I've always been a die hard fan of their cupcakes both at Alwarpet aswl as near Conron Smith Road.
I visited this cafe for dinner and the 1st thing which I cudnt fail to notice was their pricing. It was on an escalated scale, a bit on the higher side. This was highly disappointing since the menu was too tempting and I wanted to order more to taste the food, but I had to let go. Clearly it means it can't b a weekly hangout spot but u kno a place to visit once in a while.
I ordered crepe lasagne and nutella wid caramalized banana crepes.
Food was excellent, the taste was so gud. Luvd d way the crepe lasagne was cooked.
The place , ambience is really gud. Staff courteous. Had space for car parking. Wasn't crowded today. Jus 2 more tables occupied.
Overall a gud place to visit for food cuz everything in it has crepes;);)
In my 2nd visit I had caramelized cupcake wid caramel and chocolate crêpe wid maple syrup and nutella hot chocolate. OMG!!!! Luvd it man. The best ever nd now hav become a diehard fan of this place:):)
@rathnapriya
Great tasting crepes. The quinoa salad was excellent. Ambience is pleasant and clean. Service was fairly quick. Most of the items have an egg component which cannot always be replaced by an eggless version - check with the waiter before ordering. Since the place is co-located with the cupcake factory - the dessert choice widens up.
Limited parking available inside the compound. The only downside is the pricing which is towards the higher end. Will definitely return.
Ambience is nice, interior design of cafe looks pleasing to the eyes, good place to bring your date and have a romantic time.
I had the lemon ice tea which I thought was over-priced as it seemed to be made from a cheap pre-mix. I also had the crepe lasagne which I took was quite delicious. Though the price is on the high side, I decided to try it to see if it's worth the bucks. I would say it still fell short of my expectations for such a price tag.
Set in one of the famous location of Chennai, this place has a huge parking space. The ambience is well done with a nice bricky look.Moving on to the food, we had called for the basil (pesto) crepe with tomatoes and caramelised onions and it was amazing. My first experience with non-sweet crepes n it was fabulous! Next we called for the double chocolate crepe. The taste was very good but dnt go by the name,it's not that chocolaty. We topped it with a scoop of chocolate ice cream n voila it was perfect!! We had also called for a chocolate cup cake which was average.
Overall the place is a little expensive but since I'm a basil lover, I was in love with the flavours tingling my mouth.
