Dish- Tandoori non-veg kebab platter
Nice ambience , not very gaudy , but , spacious and peaceful..food quality was awesome..they had a wide range of kebabs, all varieties sounding delicious..me being a vegetarian ordered spinach and corn fritters , which were really great.. my husband appreciated the chicken kebabs the most, which he hardly does in any of the restaurants in Chennai, claiming themselves to be north indian..so 2 thumbs up for that..and other food stuffs we ordered were equally great..love the taste and quantity..and will soon be planning to go there again..
Ordered the Non-Veg Combo Meal must say its one of the best combos that i have ever had the biryani, fish tikka, chicken tikka all were quite good will give the restaurant a try after have the combo.... 😋
Very good food and service.
Here we had few dish of kebab and briyani,
Here good car parking place available,
Ambiance is not bad,
Overall all'

Went to this restaurant on a Friday afternoon.... It was easy to locate and parking the car was no problem....
Ordered for Malai paneer starter.... It was soft and not spicy at all... The lil one enjoyed... For main course ordered mutter paneer and phulka.... Both tasted well and no complaints... I went for their non veg lunch combo.... It had butter naan butter chicken Hyderabad dum biryani and gulab jamun... All this for 300rs.... Every dish was brilliant... Biryani was much better than I was expecting... Nice flavors and went very well with raita.... I had booked this table using easy diner app.... Because of which I got a free dessert... Mr Srinivas who works in the restaurant was kind enough to give two desserts... Shahi tukra and carrot halwa.... Both sweet dish were awesome.... Much better than many restaurants that serves north Indian desserts... Overall a very satisfying lunch.... Order takes a little extra time to reach the table.... Otherwise a great place which is run by good staff...
A lunch experiment. Chanced upon their lunch combos and strolled in...... Ended up ordering a Hyderabadi chicken briyani wondering if it was the Hyderabad in Pakistan or our own Hyderabad right next door. The ambience and service is good considering that at mid day you have almost half the restaurant to yourself. The biryani was preceded by pappads and jaljeera. Ok. Nice....... The briyani was average with high point being a lovely raitha of onions cucumbers and tomatoes.
What a pleasant surprise, and find, this restaurant was!
Serene ambience, great service and food that was simply amazing!
Do try their special, The Chicken Afghani , leg and breast pieces of chicken stuffed with minced and delicately flavored chicken.
Their Paneer Tiranga starter was good too.
My only regret, I was enjoying the food way too much to interrupt it to take pictures of the food.
Next time I will!
Went here for dinner and ordered Tamatar Shorba, Olives Nan, Pudina Paratha and Murgh Peshawari(mild spicy). All the items were really superb. The service was also really good ☺ As their name suggests they serve authentic afghani food. Price wise it was a tad higher than the usual joints, but was worth every penny I had spent. No issues with parking as well. Would be visiting here again soon to try their biriyanis! 😀
Very pleasing ambience and good customer service. Best place to go with your family. Looks expensive from outside but the food will be delicious and in good quantity. Importantly you'll feel the price was worth it. Give it a try!
We are a family of three who decided to have a Sunday lunch at Kabul. The ambience was pretty good and the service commendable. We had a Mirch Murghi Shorba for Soup which was the right amount of spicy that was needed to start up our hunger. For starters we had, Pathar ka Gosht which was excellent. We decided to try a different type of biriyani with Gosht Noorjahani Biryani, which was the only dish we didn't enjoy much; Not their fault, I guess as south Indians we would prefer whole meat rather than minced in our biryani. We also ordered Murghi Nawabi along with some Cheese and Chilly flake naan and Rumali Roti, and they proved very tasty. At last for dessert, we ordered Shahi Tukda which was served hot with 4 pcs and all three of us couldnt get enough of the creamy delight. The total bill along with GST came to Rs 1549. Overall, an extremely satisfactory lunch!

I would really like to visit again to try the other kebabs in the line-up!
Food was delicious, really worth for money, I ask them to customise, they did.... I received the food before the time Roti and Chana masala is perfect! Kindly maintain the quality....
Thanks

Fantastic fish Tikka. Great romali roti. Brilliant biryani and superb chicken kebabs.
Nice ambience. Good service.
Lovely taste in music which goes with the ambience.
Oh. And amazing butter chicken.
Very good for the food and ambience :) I love the spicy chicken briyani, which is with more flavours than the mutton briyani ! But both were filling and very tasty !! Loved the jinga masala also!!:)
Fantastic food i had last week. Price is above average but taste is very good. Especially pathar ka ghost was awesome. A must try item. Briyani looks similar like Hyderabadi style but taste is little different but that also good. Ambience and music was nice..
I absolutely love this place. Food here is pretty amazing. I have never been disappointed with the food or with the service. They definitely have to make improvements when it comes the ambience. But if@ you are just looking for good north Indian food , I feel this is the right place.
Kabul is my go to place when I want to give myself and my family a treat. Never misses their pathar ka gosht everytime I visit. I like everything about the place including the gazals bgm. Highly recommended.
They have the best grilled fish in town, for sure. Also, do try their famous Hyderabadi Biriyani. ❤ its so yummy. 😻
Rates are a little expensive though.😏
I recently visited this place, Food was excellent. We tried buffet and it does carry lots of variety. Worth money !! Ambiance was nice and people were very friendly. Overall it's really a good place to go for a buffet.
I'M JUST SPEECHLESS. I WENT TO THIS RESTAURANT 2 YEARS AGO BUT, THE RABDI WHICH I HAD IS STILL TEMPTING ME.HATS OFF! I JUST WANT TO SAY MORE BECAUSE THE SERVICE AND HOSPITALITY WAS JUST AWESOME. I RECOMMEND IT TO EVERYONE WHO HAS GOOD TASTE BUDS.( P.S PLEASE TRY THIS BEFORE YOU DIE!) I RATED IT 5 FIRST. JUST NOW I REMEMBER THAT Dhum biriyani was somewhat a bland rice dish. SORRY FOR THE LATE RESPONSE.
visit this place recently food was ok their ambiance was very good
service also good but i felt price was too high ..............
otherwise its great ambiance thay had
Went there with my family for dinner.
Nice place for dining.
Courteous service and friendly staff.
All the food we ordered was good except romali roti.
The roti was hard.
The starters Panner Tikka, Rubiyan Sheek Kabab, Chicken Charga was exellent.
Planning to visit for another time with friends.
On my friend's suggestion, who is a big mughlai fan and localite we visited this place for dinner.
For starters, we had Murgh Kalimirchi kebabs and Gosht Seekh Kebab. For main course, we ordered Murgh Lazeez with Butter Naan. Quantity is good enough for three people.
Staff at Kabul knows their menu right. The service is quick. Kudos to the team.
Place has been on my hitlist for ever now and finally got to trying it by placing an order for mumtaz murgh biryani through Swiggy.
Ambience & service - NA - online order
Pricing - INR. 350 for a biryani. Good portions and could easily fill 1.5/2 tummies. If you have an appetite like mine, might do beyond justice to your hunger.
Considering its a fine dining joint and their biryani is one of its kind, the pricing could be considered moderately expensive (otherwise I might cringe about paying so much for a biryani).
Food:
Shredded chicken chunks, fried onions and a good dum biryani. The biryani was spot on in flavour and I ate till I emptied the last morsel of the basmati rice.
There was a little bit of oil in the bottom of the parcel container and that is possibly the only negative I could notice.
On a summary note, thats a biryani I loved and would definitely like to go back and try more of their offering.
Love love love the food here. Seekh kebabs are yumm !!! Mutton Rogan ghosh with naan was good . And some biryani to finish up . Ambience can certainly be improved ! Thumbs up for food
Wowww.. I went to this restaurant as my friend birthday treat.. The ambiance were nice but some repair work were there. When it comes to the service person they are so friendly love them... Then comes to the food all were good. But the menu is too costly for middle class people...
Food- 8.5/10 | Ambience- 5.5/10 | Service-7/10
Kabul is a bit dodgy to locate as it is within a complex of restaurants. The ambience is average with the wall colours a bit flashy. With the jaali work installations inside, they have tried to bring in the rajasthani mughal effect.
Speaking of the food, its absolutely appetizing. I loved the lahsooni kebab. Choosing the assorted naans was not a bad choice, it was quite filling. The jhinga masala was an absolute delight to the tongue. It's rich flavour enticed the taste buds. The paneer makhanwala without doubt was the best dish. It got me high with it's rich, creamy texture, absolutely palatable. A must-try dish here.
Quantity is good, service average and pricing is a bit expensive.
This is the 4th time I have been to Kabul, and they didn't disappoint me.
This time we tried the pathan murg starter which was the most delicious one but very very less in quantity.. And the pakki biriyani was a little bland. But the other dishes the Mutton galoti kebab and Chicken cheese tikka was as good as it gets.. One suggestion is that they need to concentrate on the rice items being served
The place is somewhat hard to find. But the ambience inside the restaurant is pleasant. The Punjabi cuisine was really good! The grilled starters are a must try if you enter Kabul.
This restaurant was chosen as a last resort measure but we were in for a suprise. The food was excellent and flavours really did reflect their name. Parking space is not a problem and the ambience was good too with classic hindi songs echoing on all corners.
Went to this place for lunch. Was in Mylapore for customer meeting and post it I was looking at places to eat. Opened my zomato and Kabul popped up as just 200 mts away. I was wanting to have mughlai/north indian food and I decided to go to Kabul.
The restaurant has been tried to give the persian decor with the servers wearing persian styled clothes.
I started with Chicken Nihari Soup. It was delicious and tasted very fresh.
Since I was alone I didnt order for any starter and directly ordered the mains.
For mains I ordered Murgh Nawabi with Butter Naan.
Murgh Nawabi was cooked in onion and tomato paste and was yummy, with the chicken soft and juicy.
They also served roasted papad, green chutney, baby onions and tamarind chutney.
Satisfying food, average price. The ambiance could have been better.
This place offers great food. The quantity is more, that it's too difficult to finish and the taste is so unique. It's a bit pricey but I think it's worth it if you go once in a while. The ambience is subtle and good service.
Kabul - First Restaurant Food I had!
From my childhood I 've been visiting this place, first place where I tasted Fried Rice, Chicken fry, Chicken curry, Kulfis and more. My all time favourite food at Kabul is Semi gravy Chicken and Cashews and Fried Rice :) All the food tastes good. I've been more frequent since my uncle was working there. It's a great pleasure in writing this review - a place which connected me to the outside Food World and said it's Food tastes good even outside home.
Thank You guys! Will visit soon :)
It was 3.30 pm and we were scouting for a place to have lunch as most of the restaurants close their kitchen by 3 . We went to Jonah's bistro and we were informed that they close by 3 , this was the only other place the vicinity so we decided to go there . The ambience as such is very average but the food and the service makes up for it . They had a kebabs and roti festival going on and their staff recommended the noorjahani kebab which is chicken kebab with minced meat stuffed inside , the Kebab was full of flavour and juicy and went well with the mint yoghurt chutney they serve . For mains we ordered their trademark hyderabadi mutton biriyani , the portion was huge and it was really aunthentic , it tasted amazing along with the mirchi ka Salan , just wish they had notched up their spice levels it would have been perfect . I had tried their minced meat biriyani last time and that was mind blowing .The bill came upto around 750 for two , I would say they are moderately priced . They used to have a combo before which was great value for money , wish they bring it back . Overall a very good place to satisfy your kebab and biriyani cravings .
After reading mixed reviews I was a little apprehensive, but went to Kabul on a Saturday night with friends. We had both non-vegetarians and vegetarians in the group. In the non-vegetarian items we ordered a Murg Mini Platter, Galouti Kabab, Murg Peshawar and Hyderabad Mutton Biryani along with different breads. We really enjoyed our meal and so did the vegetarians. I would visit Kabul again to try other dishes.
Average ambience, overpriced dishes!
But really great service , the waiters are very polite and the place is clean and hygienic ! I like the biriyanis there!
Kabul has been around for decades now. Though its changed location more than once, which has contributed to its being not as well recognized as a lot of the other vintage restraunts in the city.
Located inside the Karaikudi complex, there is a parking area shared by 3 (or perhaps 4) restraunts. This is great as long, but when this space runs out, parking in this neighbourhood looks to be quite a challenge.
Kabul is a little confusing in terms of what it is trying to be. The name suggests North West Frontier type food, which is what they serve. However, whoever did the interior decoration clearly has not got the message
The LED light strips outside are garish, and the plastic place mats are downright unsightly. The television prominently displayed really does not help matters either.
The service was reasonable, with food reaching the table quite quickly. There was a mix up with the order, but this was corrected very quickly.
Food was a little strange. In terms of the flavor, it was pleasant without being particularly memorable. What was odd though was the portions. We found that we could have easily have had another person with us at dinner with the amount of food that showed up. Perhaps it would have been more appropriate to lower the prices and serve less food? Although that is an argument that cuts both ways, since it works very well for larger groups.
Pricing was reasonable in the context on the portions. It isn't cheap, given the ambiance is a bit of a let down, but the quantity and quality of the food bear out the pricing.
Overall Conclusion: There are a lot of places with better food and better ambiance. The portion size and pricing allow this to be a reasonable place to go, but not for very special occasions.
Kabul… the name sounds so attractive but I must tell you, it is not pocket friendly at all. They serve North West frontier cuisine and the food is delicious indeed. It was first located above Nilgiris, where Novelty is located. The same place was first Kabul’s. The steward boys are friendly, smart and well dressed, with lots of courtesy and manners fitted in. We had a warm welcome out there, which was something we liked the most. The cutlery used gives a Mughlai feel, different from other restaurants.
We wanted a corner table for little privacy and they ensured we were not disturbed. The place gets little crowded by dinnertime, around 8.30-9 PM. This place has an awesome ambiance, soothing music and comfortable seats to relax and have a peaceful meal with our loved ones. For welcome drink, they served us some Mint-Coriander drink in a mud pot-like shaped mug like. The drink was soothing and was perfect start.
We ordered our dinner and I must say the service was fast than ever. Most prompt than we had expected.
For starters, we had ordered Murgh Banjara, which turned out to be fine and tender. We had ordered Nihari soup, which was spicy yet tasty.
For main course, we had ordered Hyderabadi Biriyani, Murgh Nawabi curry and roomali roti. The combination was finger licking and filing. We did not have space for any drink, so we asked them to get us the Kulfi from outside stall. I don’t remember the name of the kulfi shop, but they serve awesome kulfis with different flavors to choose from. Mango, Gulkhand, Vanilla and matka kulfi and of course, the authentic kesar pista kulfi are among the flavors served.
Overall, here is my rating:
Ambiance: 5/5
Quantity of food: Not worth the rates charged.
Food: 4.5/5
Parking: 4/5 (-1 if there is crowd, you will find it difficult to park your 4-wheeler and for 2 wheeler, I think parking it outside)
Service: 4/5
Pocket friendly: Not at all. Once a while dining is fine.

Its a aswme restaurant for having north west frontier food special for tandoor lovers. Mumtaz chicken biriyani is there speciality and the quantity is high compared to others. Will cost 2000 for 2 ppl
I know what you re thinking. What's a vegetarian doing in an Afghan cuisine restaurant? The answer to this question is exactly what sets Kabul apart from its other counterparts.
While obviously three fourth of its menu is devoted to hardcore spiced, marinated or roasted versions of chicken and mutton dishes that would make a meat-eater's day, the menu graciously makes way for at least ten to fifteen sabzis and starters for vegetarians. The best part? It's not a half-hearted attempt to just serve watery dal and vegetables. Kabul makes sure that these dishes are equally lip-smacking and worthy of being classified as Kabuli.
I enjoyed their Paneer tikkas which were soft and not overwhelmingly flavoured to mask the taste of the paneer. Next, we ordered the Paneer Makhanwala and the Subz e Nawabi with their respective flat bread accompaniments of naans and garlic kulchas. These gravies were nothing short of mouth watering. The rich and creamy Paneer makhanwala melted in our mouths while we also found it to be spicier than the average version of this dish( which made it even more delicious for me). The Subz e Nawabi is quite a decadent indulgence with the succulent vegetables lazily floating around in nutty and thick almond and cashew gravy. Be warned not to try it if you re on a diet! The breads are worth writing home about as well. Not disappointed at all, given their tandoor standards.
Service is a little lethargic and I have to mention that my friend and I found it quite disconcerting when a waiter kept staring at us while we ate, which we eventually chose to ignore. While I hope this is an isolated incident, it would be helpful if management instructed the waiters on etiquette with regard to this issue. The restaurant can be packed or deserted based on what time of the day you go. That being said, it's really worth checking them out for their food!
It's purely new setup . I love the hospitality. Welcome drink etc are good and fresh . Food is very tasty a must visit . Ballouchi e murg is very very tasty . Pleasant place for couple .
Great food lobster is great whole family enjoyed well will come again nice starters yummy biryanis
Murg starter lamb gravy is nice. Lobster was wonderful.cud have been lil more spacious
kabul is a very good place to enjoy dining with family members. I have been there yesterdaty and felt excited and happy to see the great ambience. it is a great decent place . It is located in the busy area. I personally loved and liked ANGUR KA SHARBATH . its my favourite . i cant forget it. the next time if i go also i will order it . all the soups and briyani is well prepared with its ingredients and well presented to public. i enjoyed a a lot being there with my family. all the staffs and waiter too are too good serving with us.
It was on a whim we ate in this restaurant , which is a pretty rare thing for me since the advent of zomato ???? And upon checking reviews after we finished our fantastic meal , I was a little shocked at the poor ratings.
Ambience is excellent. I really liked the rose gold walls and mild background music (ghazal ?).
Staff are polite and always ready to help you with recommendations and serving , without hovering over you.
You are welcomed with crispy papad , hot mirchi and jaljeera.
We started with a murgh shorba , which was the perfect yummy starter to a satisfactory meal composed of murg mini platter ( had 6 types of kebab with 2 piece each ; except for the green one , everything was soft , juicy and flavourful especially the cheesy kebab - Highly recommended ) , fried prawns ( nothing special ,in fact skip it ) and tasty dum Mutton biryani. The portions are enough for 2 people.
Price is a little bit on the higher end. Our bill was about Rs 1500. And the perfect climax to a hearty meal in Kabul , is a kesar pista kulfi in kulfi zone in the same compound.
If you are tired of grill themed buffet restaurants and just want to enjoy mughalai food without hassles , Kabul is your place.
Located on the busy stretch of RK Salai, this restaurant has decent ambience and parking. You are being welcomed with Jigir thanda and papad with chutney, good way to start when you are hungry. We ordered Machili tikka and Murgh Lasooni Kebab, fish is not that great option for the 450 bucks we pay with less quantity. Murgh kebab was mild boneless chicken which tasted good. Murgh Hyderabad dum biriyani & veg dum biriyani were very good , biriyani is a must try here. One biriyani is sufficient for 2 persons. Only downside i see is it is a expensive restaurant. One starter and biriyani would easily cost 1000
I have never tasted mutton Ran as it was in Kabul. Truly delicious. Only interior of the restaurant is not so good. The old hotel interior really nice.
One of the chains in shyams hospitality group this hotel truly stands to its hospitality.been there thrice already ,the food especially the mutton kheema roll,Apollo fish and kebabs are must try list.they serve according to your own food pace and their mouth watering food, the ambience and their hospitality makes you feel good .ull go for more.great experience overall .
This restaurant is much more better than the so called north indian restaurants. I never knew here there was real good food, cause I mainly planned to come here for the ambience .And when I opened the menu card, it was mainly non veg while I was a vegetarian. But slowly the veg part came. The soup and biriyani was the best. The kebabs were also nice because it was the first time I had them. So if you wanna eat North indian go to kabul where its really north indian.
Awesome taste but overpriced!!! In fact after eating you might be tempted to say its worth every penny... Love to visit frequently if the price is affordable!!!
The best biryani I have had in Chennai. At Rs.340 may be higher than Amaravathi group restaurant prices, but quantity good for two ppl... #Win
Tasty food! Very very heavy on the pocket though! The quantity does not demand the price you pay for it! Maybe many more restaurants offer a lot more than Kabul does, with a comparable quality, & taste!
This is a very good place for good kababs. The butter naan, sheek kebab and malai kababwas amazing and mouth watering. The service was really good.

Wonderful food ... Authentic... My guest loved it...
On a day my cousin was planning to travel back to the US we had a heavy south indian lunch in the afternoon. For dinner we thought of going to a place where we would avoid rice or breads (rotis , naans etc ) and only stick to kebabs.
My cousin suggested a punjabi joint . I improvised and added to the suggestion by suggesting a cuisine west of Punjab and that is how we ended up at Kabul for the evening. I ordered the fruit and nut lassi , while my cousin went for a glass of fresh lime soda. Then we got down to business and ordered their Special non-veg platter of Kebabs.
The malai kebab hits the sweet spot right away followed by the hariyali kebab. My cousin who is a sea food enthusiast liked the Tandoori prawns , while the fish kebabs were a bit soggy. Overall the experience was a good one and I would recommend this place if you have an appetite for anything punjabi or tandoori. The seating was cosy and the lighting could have been slightly brighter.
Good North West Frontier food. For Veggies, Dal Makhani is a must try....
Really good restaurant good ambience and the food is also very good . If you have a craving for afghani I would recommend this place

Food 4/5
Ambiance 4.5/5
Service 3.5/5
Experience 4/5
God knows how many times I would've been to this amazing place.. With friends, family, colleagues.. The waiters are well trained and pretty quick in their service. The ambience is really good with camels and dessert craved on the walls to give you the arabian touch.. Now lemme come to my interest - food obviously!! Amazing staters and main course.. The dessert section might dissapoint you coz its not really great with the amount they charge.. Since its famous for its delicious and juicy kebabs, u must try out the chicken malai kebab.. taste at its best.. so well marinated and juicy.. same goes with other starters and main course too.. lovely biryani.. Overall, its an amazing place to fill your stomach especially if you are a kebab lover.. (costly, but worth it!!)
Post,a lot of walking around searching for a pair of shoes for my better half (yes, you got that right "shoes" ) which is an yearly appetite inducing activity we anchored at Kabul. For those who haven't been to the Kabul at its old location, (hold on before you make up your minds) the new location at R.K Salai is even better.
We were ushered in by the host right at the door. The lighting had a tinge of blue which was, though different from most restaurants I have been to was inviting enough. Not denying that my primary loyalties being with the North Western Frontier cuisine, I was indeed looking forward to a night of kebabs. The menu was a smorgasbord of dishes ranging from veg. to non. veg; replete with starters as well. The complimentary papads arrived even before the menu, so deciding the dishes to order was unhurried. Popular choice went with the "Tangri Pepper Chicken" to begin with. We did have to wait long (which was a relief), before the dish came along. The first bite says it all, and yes it touched my taste buds right enough to set the juices flowing. I did'nt have to borrow a napkin to keep sponging off the aftermath of pepper in the dish. It was just right, and off went my scoring board. Also unlike most situations I did'nt have to shy from the bone which was cooked to the core leaving no traces of raw meat (have fallen prey to the rare meat situation).
Not wanting to adulterate the "Chicken" feel from the meal decided to go with the Mutton Biriyani. The dish screamed out the north western flavours in each grain. An information I gathered from there, viz: Biriyani well cooked can be determined by taking a handful and scattering them onto the floor. If the grains do not stick and remain separate Voila !!! you have a good dish at hand. I had all the mind to attempt the same, but considering the sentiments of other patrons and yes the seemingly good natured staff decided otherwise. Furthermore, though I will admit that the dish was not an "Out of the World" experience it was decently put together. Varieties of Lassi and Chat flavoured beverages are available including one in Blue colour for the kids.
The Chandni Chowk market place famous for its sweets and savouries had first gotten me to be friends with "Rabdi" and its likes. The desert invoked the dejavu of the streets yet maintaining the calm of elegant dining. "Rabdi Malai" adorned our table in desert bowl. Not overtly sweet yet retaining its distinct flavour of milk cream the desert was a brilliant concoction. Signing out the bill and with mint and sugar tasting somph in our mouth we were ready to get moving.
PS: The vegetarian starters in paneer and mushrooms looked inviting (maybe next time). Can seat bigger groups and parties. They have got a wash and restroom which is discreetly placed and quite clean. Meal for two at Rs. 1400/-
