Enough seatings with decent lights. Tasty food with quick service. This place is a must try. Ordered honey chilli lotus stem, crispy corn pie tee and pandan panner. All of them tasted so good. Lotus stem could have been a little spicy. Pandan panner was hot and delicious and the crispy corn was tasty as well tho the baskets looked little oily, it didn't change the taste in any way. Loved this place, will visit again to try the other dishesšŸ‘

The soup (lemon-coriander) was packed with flavors. The starter was unique (some potato Thai one, not quite sure of the name) and the use of coconut milk made it standout. The chilli oil dumplings were okayish. Not very expensive, decent food and an amazing ambience.

The loved the service. Starters were on a sweeter side. It could have been spicy. Manchow soup was perfect. Didn't like the jungle rice as it had no taste. Desserts were superb. Brilliant service.

It was a one of a kind pure veg restaurant specialising in Thai, Japanese and chinese. We ordered pandan paneer which was an absolute delicacy. The manchow soup was pure bliss. The shiitake mushrooms were so perfectly made. The best was the hazelnut praline dessert. A must visit restaurant for all :)

The food here is great. I can't think of any item that we ordered which was just mediocre. Service is quick. Great place if you're looking to visit a veg only restaurant.

Went for dinner with family. Had a good time eating oriental food. The menu out there is very simple crisp and specific. Lotus stem is one of the recommended dish and they do keep up standards of taste. On the service front , needs to be more attentive and give some time to decide rather pushing. The jasmine tea served is soothing. Dessert I recommend lichi and rose ice cream.

So I found this place on Instagram under a friends food blog and drove all the way to poes garden. And I wasn't dissapointed . From the looks of it I could tell that this was a house turned into a restaurant just like Amelie's which is also right around the corner. So I went in and got myself a table. The staff there were super nice people who explained the new additions to their menu and often came down to my table to ask how the food was. As I was waiting for my order I looked around the place and noticed how this place didn't look like a legit Asian place like benjarong or mainland China but neither did it look like Chao or mamagoto which says that these guys don't make Desi Chinese to cater to Indian tastes . My order arrived a few mins later which consisted of lemongrass soup , flavoured dumplings of some kind , glass noodles , chilled milk with rose essence and hommeade ice cream of the fusion flavour lychee and rose . Like I said earlier the food didn't reek of Desi Chinese one bit and felt very homemade but in a good way. The dumplings and the soup were good and filling , I told the waiter that I wanted something not too filling for my main course and that j didn't want any sides with the noodles , he was kind enough to add some extra flavour to my noodles which he told me beforehand , the noodles wasn't great but it tasted good for sure . The rose milk I sipped in b/w was great but the only difference from a packaged one was that it had those floating bubble things . The dessert however was really good , the ice cream was hommeade and it tasted like that too . Now I'm no vegetarian and this place strictly is . Now anyone who's starting a Chinese place would know that without nv it's not gonna work , but this place does work for some reason. In short it's a " eat healthy" Asian spot which has good stuff on the menu which the good hospitality at the place helps you pick. Oh yeah , and the pricing was decent too.

Amazing East Asian veg food. Do try the pandan paneer and fried honey lotus stem. Their steamed buns are to crave for ( caution, only for those with the taste for it). Couldn't try their Japanese food as their chef was on leave that day. but do look forward to it the next time.

It was my Momā€™s turn to host her kitty party. We came to know about this new place that serves only vegetarian. Most of my moms friends are aged about 55+. Since I couldnā€™t go personally I wanted to ensure everything was under control. I called up to book a table. Mr. Malik has taken utmost care of my mom and her friends.
The food was extremely tasty and the service was super friendly. Itā€™s not easy to please woman pertaining to that age šŸ˜Š. Their taste buds are the most difficult ones to satisfy. My mom is so happy that she chose this place. Super cost effective and Mr. Malik suggested a lot of dishes suitable to them. Canā€™t wait to visit this place, specially after hearing it from my mother herself. Thank you Western Wedge for making it memorable day for my mom! ā¤ļø

Lovely, airy, spacious, yet simple ambience. It is decorated with Japanese wall hangings and soothing music. Loved the ambience!
We started with manchow soup and TOM KHA soup. We loved the Tom kha, it was filled with a healthy broth of coconut milk and fresh vegetables.. it just felt very refreshing!

Honey chili LOTUS STEM is a MUST TRY! It's crispy, sweet and spicy.. it's just too good!
Pandan paneer was something we ordered out of curiosity from other Zomato reviews.. it was soft and pungent garlic flavour.. sadly we're not a fan of garlic..
Chinese rolls was filled with finely chopped vegetables.. it was yum!

EASTERN WEDGE GLASS NOODLES was yumm it had few begatables that were bitter... But loved the flavour of it!!
BAMAA CURRY RICE was basically steamed rice with Thai version of sambaar.. but oddly it was YUM!! One of the MUST TRY! Should comment on the vegetables.. they're so damn fresh.. if you know the difference between a frozen vegetable and fresh one, this place has fresh ones!

Chocolate tomb was something we ordered out of other reviews.. it's a chocolate ball which melts when hot chocolate poured over..to uncover ice-cream over brownie.. touchĆØ
ROSE AND LYCHEE ice-cream was YUMMY! Loved it. It had bits of lychee and rose petals.. it's was simply yum!

Loved the service.. at last the bill came up to 2.7k, it had 10% service charge, if you ask the waiters they'd remove it.. post removal we had the bill of 2.3k.. just a small tip.. ;)

Overall experience 5 on 5!!

Vegetarian Asian place- a rare must try combo!

Ā Dario's has been replaced by this one for good. Inside one of the main streets of alwarpet, this place is easily identified with valet parking. Dont bother about reservations since this place is huge,Ā  accommodating at least 60+ ppl at a time. Elegant decor and polite service. cost for two would be definitely around 1000 if we have a three-course meal here.Ā

I would want to keep talking about their PANDAN PANEER. One doesn't get this recipe anywhere in Chennai. I had tried this one thrice at three different times, n i was amazed how these ppl continue to prove their consistency in cooking the paneer to its perfection. Do try pandan paneer here. A caution on the oil that comes along with it though! but once in a while, is no harm!Ā

The difference b/w Kushi yaki/age and tempura needs to be mentioned. Kushiyaki is grilled veggies while kushiage is deep fried grilled veggies. Tempura differs from kushiage because of its batter. kushiage contains breadcrumbs that make it crispy and filling while tempura's batter makes it just fried. So we chose KUSHIAGE to taste its crispiness. They have a good choice of veggies and i wouldnt complaint. the dish was served with sauces, white crispy noodles and kinda filled in the appetite. So be careful about the number of sticks you choose.

Their SOM TOM, a raw papaya salad was served a lil spicy. Although, they were kind enough to make the entire dish a lil sweet on our request. So would recommend this salad for those who prefer healthy eating.

Szechuan Shiitake was presented with a beautiful carrot carving. The flavor was equally inviting, being an easy-cook dish.Ā Ā

For the drinks, the MANDARIN N BAZIL SPRITZER should be a must try. Made out of oranges and basil, it had a very subtle sprite dominance in it which is very rare. The blend was perfect. The other LEMON GRASS COOLER doesn't deserve a special mention. Yet another drink.Ā

Though they have limited desserts, each one of them is worth one time try. we took VICTORIA, a red velvet sponge which had more of white chocolate than the red velvet sponge. I was a lil disappointed.Ā  Their PRALINE NOISETTE also could be a must try for chocolate lovers if they are like hazelnut. their ROSE N LYCHEE icecream was the best to me out of all the three i tried here. 1 scoop of heaven it was! should be a must try.Ā

Overall, a good try to genuinely replicate the cuisine they have chosen for, especially with all vegetarian dishes. Their PANDAN PANEER is a must try. I would definitely recommend this place.

Easily one of the finest Pan Asian vegetarian restaurant in the city. Read about this place in an newspaper and bookmarked it ever since, had taken some of my friends who had been to east Asia and my word they were mighty impressed. The ambience seating cutlery are all okayish and nothing extravagant, but it is what they serve that catches one's attention. The honey chilli lotus stem, jungle biryani and red bean buns were standout entrees. There are lot of options to try and I bet it will be equally spelndid.

et me start of with the starters.Every single dish was unique from the other in terms of taste and the thing that surprised me the most was the sauce. Unlike other asian restaurant this place serves unique dips apt for the dish. Picks from the lot: Crispy corn pie tee, kushi yaki, paneer pandan, red bean bun, eastern veg bun! Moving to EntreĆ©! Simply put, all the dishes were par excellence! To name few stellars: Bamaa curry, ginger capsicum noodles, cauliflower with cashews. Under desserts, sea salt caramel mousse with banana served with toffee sauce and white chocolate disc was the perfect marriage of flavours. Rose lychee ice creamā€” congratulations!!! You get to taste rose milk in every bite!

Food 5/5

Service 5/5

Value for Money 4/5

I had read reviews about the place and hence wanted to try this since the time they were doing their dry run.

Itā€™s a rare restaurant combination as itā€™s a pure vegetarian Thai, chinese and Malaysian cuisine.

The irony is finding a pure vegetarian place in Thailand and Malaysia serving authentic local cuisine is very difficult.

Coming to the food

We had for starters

Honey chilly lotus stem - this dish had the right amount of spices , the honey and chilly blended really well in crispy lotus stem. While I expected honey or chilly to be overpowering it was pleasantly surprising to taste this dish with perfect blend.

Veg dumpling with chilly oil - one word Brilliant ! The dumpling was not the traditional momo kind but was little big and had thick layer of dough. The chilly oil was awesome! It indicated as too spicy but the was just about right for me.

Thai curry with steam rice ( donā€™t remember the exact name of the dish) - the Thai curry was flavourful , creamy - coconut milk was adding To the creamy texture. The dish was mentioned as too spicy but for me the coconut milk nullified the spiciness. The vegetables were fresh and crisp.

Nutty Milo - it was a cross between Milo and snickers, noting great about it.

We did not opt for desserts as we were too full but they gave a red velvet with grated coconut cream. Was great and different . The coconut blended so well with red velvet .

Overall 1227 was the bill , value for money considering two of managed to eat fully and packed the Thai rice home as well.

Tried this place with my family on a Friday evening. This is a vegetarian place. The cuisine is Asian. Coming to the place, it was neatly arranged and not cramped. Lot of spacing between the tables and it was well lit. The ambience was really good. Getting to the food,

STARTERS- We started off with soup. Ordered the manchow soup. It was so yum. It came with crisps on top. So nutritious. For starters, we had pannen wrapped in leaves, grilled vegetables with three sauces and bao. Everything we ordered was lip smacking. It was all so good.

We were so full with the starters and soup. That we directly skipped to desserts.

DESSERTS- Ordered the chocolate bomb. There was some theatre effect involved in the chocolate bomb. It was served by pouring hot chocolate all over the tomb. A little theatre effect is all that we like šŸ˜ we also ordered a scoop rose and litchi ice cream as well. It was so delicious. They were also pieces of litchi in that.

Overall, I had a great experience and I would love to visit again to try their other delicacies šŸ„°šŸ’Æ

Good food and good ambience. Service is prompt. Tried the spinach dumplings, corn cups, rose milk, Pad Thai, Dan Dan noodles and praline cake for dessert. The Corn Cups were delicious. The dumplings were a bit undercooked but the accompanying sauces made up for it. The rose milk with basil seeds was very refreshing. The Pad Thai was the usual. Loved the Dan Dan noodles. It was flavourful sans much oil. The praline almond cake for dessert was the best part about the whole meal. The prices are very reasonable.

Eastern Wedge caught my eye a month back when my Instagram feed was filled with reviews from my favourite food bloggers in Chennai. The time came to final hit Eastern Wedge for a casual Friday lunch.

The ambience speaks for itself. Cozy home atmosphere with a classic decour is sure to leave an impression.

Our orders :-

P. S. : The pictures consist of half-eaten/half-served items. The quantity provided was very filling.

Starters:

šŸ‘‰ Shandan Paneer - DISH OF THE VISIT. The best type of paneer I have ever had in Chennai.

šŸ‘‰ KishiYaki - grilled veggies of our choice with their 3 signature sauces. Something different from your usual appetizers and the taste varies from person to person. I liked it very much but friends had a different opinion.

Mains:

šŸ‘‰ Jungle Fried Rice - very spicy and the golden brown onions just give it an extra flavour. Irresistible tbh.

šŸ‘‰ Handan Noodles - Soft noodles with their signature gravy. Tasted very good.

šŸ‘‰ Chilly paneer gravy - Your paneer gravy to satiate the meal.

Beverages:

šŸ‘‰ Nutty Milo - The perfect fusion of milo and peanut butter. Heavenly ā¤ļø

Desserts:

šŸ‘‰ Chocolate Tomb - The tomb of melting chocolate was a real sight. Nevertheless it was brownie with ice cream. Sweetness factor shoots the roof.

šŸ‘‰ Sesame Balls - Unique to Eastern Wedge. Sesame outer with coconut filling inside. You have to have it with the vanilla ice cream to experience the true flavour.

Spent close ā‚¹1400 thanks to the Dineout festival. Else it would be ā‚¹2800.

Special thanks to Mr. Nandhakumar for all his suggestions and prompt service throughout our meal.

One of the best Pan-Asian Places in Chennai.

Thank you, Team Eastern Wedge.

Excellent Asian vegetarian food.
If you are looking for some clean eating this the place.
Vegetarians in Chennai have the most exotic Asian food choices now at Eastern Wedge. With Japanese, thai, Malay and Chinese food being made in an all vegetarian kitchen.

I for sure did not miss my non vegetarian food for once. They have tried to have the flavours of the dish intact just replacing vegetarian by non vegetarian.

This also is more of a clean eating restaurant. Japanese food is known to be less spices and more original flavour of the vegetables or proteins.

This is a fully vegetarian restaurant which serves Japanese, Chinese and Thai. The menu has been carefully curated.
The ambience gives you a warm and homely feeling.
the staff are extremely nice. They ensure that every dish is enjoyed by an individual. Paying attention to everybody's likes and dislikes , they suggest what would be a good option.
The quantity of food is normal and the cost doesn't hurt your wallet. For the quantity and quantity of food served , it was worth it.
I tried the kushi yaki skewers which was grilled vegetables with 3 kinds of sauce.
Schzewan mushrooms, honey chilly lotus stem and the basil dumplings.
The main course was bamaa curry rice which was a cocount based curry served with steamed rice. I personally feel this was the star in their menu. just pops in your mouth with flavours.
Along with the food, the beverage we ordered was the nutty Milo which seems a lot more like Snickers shake. Very heavy.
The chilled rose milk with basil seeds was refreshing.

Right off the bat, this place is not for everyone. Not just because it's a veg only Asian restaurant, but because these flavours are sure to polarize opinion. That said though, I'm personally super pleased someone has taken a chance and opened this place!

There's some generic Asian themed decor but it isn't a lot and that's good with me - they let the food do the talking.
Service is quite good as well, and some of the food did need serving, which was handled competently.

We had the house special bell pepper skewers and pandan Paneer which were both good, though the pandan Paneer was the stand out dish. Flavors were very delicate here and that's a bit of a shock for people used to the large flavours of Indian food.
For mains we had udon noodles in miso broth. This again was far more delicate in flavour than anything in an Indian restaurant. The shitake mushrooms were terrific in this dish, and I really liked this one overall. We just don't have this umami flavor in almost any of our usual food, so this is a whole new experience.

Pricing is in line with what you would get from a speciality restaurant like this. We spent a little more than 1k for the 2 of us.

Overall Conclusion : if you are keen on trying new things or just like Asian flavors then this is a must try place.

When Dario's vanished from the face of this serene, never too crowded road in Poes Garden, I could not have been more disappointed since I had lost out on one of my most favorite vegetarian joints.

And when I drove past Eastern Wedge, I was thrilled and couldn't wait to get a foot on this new place and I gotta admit it more than compensates for the loss of Dario's.

The food was splendid. We had a Kushi Yaki (grilled veggies on skewers) with Mushrooms (in a lovely marinade), Zucchini and Broccoli (which I would have loved to have a marinade) for starters along with a house special sauteed water chestnuts. The chestnuts were cooked to perfection with the gooey sauce complimenting the crunchy texture of the nuts.

For the main course, we ordered Dandan Noodles with a house special Eggplant stir-fry. The tastes of a vibrantly spiced manchurian-esque sauce topping on the eggplant went well with the mushroom and veg. protein laced noodles.

Their service was commendable, so was the ambience, however, being a Sunday evening, it was jam packed and a tad noisy... Will I visit again? Most certainly.

Honesty, eastern wedge is the only place that made me feel that being vegetarian won't be bad at all. That said, you can read on even if you are a die hard non- vegetarian, coz i am sure this place will still impress you.
It's a new vegetarian place that's a great addition to the list of amazing restaurants in Alwarpet.
Ambiance is simple and cozy - suitable for a date, or a meet up with friends or even a family meet up.
Service - really good. They waiters were willing to suggest the best fron their menu based on your taste and ere very eager to explain the details of the dishes.
The menu has a great selection of Asian delicacies, many of which i have not seen on other mainstream Asian restaurants in the city.
Welcome drinks - nutty milo and kemon grass cooler - really can't decide which one i loved more.
Starters - honey chilli lotus stem - now this is something i have tasted in other asian places but loved it the best here! Pandan paneer - super soft and juicy a must try here. Kushi yaki - veg skewers with miso, wasabi and soy dips - never been in love with a veg stater so much before! And their wasabi dip was ā¤
Soup - lemon chilli coriander soup - simple and perfect.
Mains - hakka rice and cauliflower with cashews - went so well with each other.
Desserts - victoria, praline noisette delice - both tasted great.

Eastern Wedge, Alwarpet:

Disclaimer: This write-up is based on two visits to this place. Once during trials and the second a recent one for a tasting session after they've opened to public. Actual portion size may vary from what is shown here in pictures.

New Pan Asian in town and it's Pure Vegetarian, too! For meat eaters like me, the term "Vegetarain Pan Asian" might sound like a misnomer but it certainly isn't the case at "Eastern Wedge". The Menu has been curated carefully under the guidance of Chef Tetsuya Yanagida (Japan) and Chef Low Chee Ee (China). And, as I'm writing this Chef Alex (Malaysia) is tweaking the Malaysian part of the menu. The carefully curated Menu is under the able hands of Chef Ram Kumar who heads the operations and his team is by far one of the best, trained under his guidance. No beating around the bush here, Eastern Wedge will emerge as one of the most sought after Vegetarian Fine Dining place in town (if things are managed the same way as it is now).

A peek into the Trials/Tasting session:

Kushi Yaki - Literal translation is "Roasted Food on Skewers". Grilled Assorted Vegetables on Skewers which had the crunch and juiciness intact was something that was really impressive. The secret lies in the technique of grilling and here it was spot-on. Never knew Ladies Finger can be so tasty after grilling šŸ˜.

Kushi Age - Closely related to KushiKatsu and so this is the Fried Cousin of Kushi Yaki. Man, the way the Cherry Tomato Kushi Age went "pop" inside my mouth was tingling and addictive. And, that's coming from me, and I'm someone who isn't comfortable eating Tomatoes šŸ˜.

Tempura - Hands down the second best I've ever had. My First best experience was at a Restaurant in Thailand (When I visited Thailand few years back). I'm in love with the tempura here. Every Vegetable turns so sexy after taking a dip in their House Special Tempura Batter. šŸ˜

Chanko Nabe - This dish is also known as "Sumo Stew". It's wholesome and filling. At "Eastern wedge" it's served on a mini stove. One can choose their broth and vegetables. I loved my Miso based Chanko Nabe. Par Excellence! Pro Tip: Add a sprinkling of Togarashi Powder into your Chanko Nabe to up the flavour game.

I can foresee that the Eastern Wedge Water Chestnuts and the Pandan Paneer are going to become their signature dishes. The former with it's crunchy texture and the latter with it's soft melt-in-the-mouth texture will surely impress the general public. Szechwan Shitake is for the spice lovers, and doesn't fall under my type, as I prefer mild flavours.

Eastern Wedge Bun was quiet impressive. But the batch that was presented to me was a bit dough-y. Spinach dumpling was great. I didn't get convinced with the Glutinous Rice in Lotus Leaf. The Wonton Noodle Soup was too good. And, the Bamaa Curry Rice was excellent.

Under Desserts, the Sesame Balls which was stuffed with Red Bean Paste might convert a few customers into it's loyals. I certainly loved their Sea Salt Caramel Banana Toffee, but I needed that crunch from Banana Toffee to complete the dish. Here it was in a paste form. Under drinks, the Nutty Milo might impress many but I'm a Lemongrass Iced Tea person.

Getting a veg restaurant serving Japanese food was a surprise and was eager to visit and order, though being a Sunday took chances and visited the place without reservation. The staff was kind enough to take our reservation at the last minute and we got a table in 15 minutes. We ordered for the entire meal course from the soup to the deserts. The experience was fantastic and great service.

On 06 Jan 18 @ 7.30pm visited Eastern Wedge, newest pure veg pan asian cuisine restuarant, & quality is amazing, emphasis on authenticity of japanese & thai flavours, portion quantity for 2 people, Dessert ~Chocolate Tomb awesome, prices on higher side due niche specaility, only minus mandatory 10% service charge, which is against GOI norms.

Eastern Wedge

Did you know you can cook South East Asian cuisine with vegetables? Ever wondered how Japanese and Korean food tasted when cooked with vegetables? Did you know vegetarian food has a lot of options other than paneer and aloo on the menu? Have you ever tasted the actual flavors of vegetable (we know only very few can be eaten raw)?

Well welcome to Eastern Wedge, a paradise for vegetarians, serving South East Asian Cuisine. The dishes are moderately priced and you also get Jain variants of the dishes.

Drinks:

1. Nutty Miloā€”milo with peanut butter. Chocolate and peanut butter can never go wrong!

2. Lemongrass coolerā€”sweet and tangy drink thatā€™s extremely fresh and refreshing.

3. Mandarin & basil spritzerā€”a fizzy drink with orange and basil.

Donā€™t forget to ask for their flavored teas! Strawberry is the best!

Starters:

1. Kushiyakiā€”did you know grilled vegetables without seasoning can taste really great? Vegetables are brushed with oil and butter and grilled on skewers and served with dips. We tasted plain grilled vegetables including zucchini, carrots, tofu and beans. We also tasted their house special Kushiyaki, which was bell pepper stuffed with American sweet corn and tongarashi mayo and Kushiyaki sauce.

2. Kushi Ageā€”crumb fried vegetables served with dips. Loved the combination of the vegetables which are still fresh with the dips.

3. Tempura vegetablesā€”vegetables fried in a tempura batter, again served with different dips. Okra and zucchini were my favorite.

All three dishes have absolutely no seasoning. The flavors of the vegetables are enhanced with the grilling and frying process flavors of the vegetables.

4. Pandan paneerā€”soft pieces of paneer are marinated with subtle spices, wrapped in a pandan leaf and oil fried.

5. Szechwan shitakeā€”deep fried shitake mushrooms tossed in Szechwan sauce. Treat for mushroom lovers.

6. Honey chili lotus stemā€”lotus stem, coated with flour, deep fried and tossed in a honey choli sauce. Just too addictive!

Steamed Bun and Dim sum:

You much check out this section of the menu. You have the most unique buns and stuffing.

1. Bbq bunā€”freshly made super soft white little buns stuffed with vegetable protein (soya chunks), shitake mushrooms, green peas and bbq sauce. Must try!

2. Spinach dumplingā€”soya chunks, spinach and corn stuffed in dumpling dough made with spinach puree.

3. Glutinous/ sticky rice in lotus leafā€”sticky rice, carrots and mushrooms cooked together in sauces, wrapped in a lotus leaf and steamed. This comes with dips, but can be eaten as a meal.

4. Glutinous rice siew maiā€”sticky rice, mushroom, carrots and green peas cooked together, wrapped in a siew mai and steamed. Again a very different dim sum and a meal by itself!

Main Course:

1. Chanko nabeā€”udon noodles with assorted vegetables, cheese balls and soy protein, served in a broth of your choice. You get to choose from miso, soy and tomato. We went with the miso broth which had great aroma and flavors. The chanko nabe comes with a Japanese mixed chili pepper powder, which enhances the flavors and adds to the spice.

2. Chili paneerā€”paneer cooked with onion, bell peppers, red chili paste and soy sauce. Definitely added in the menu for the Indian palate.

3. Jungle Fried Riceā€”there was something about this rice that kept me going for more. Long grain rice cooked with vegetables, ginner, golden brown onions and dry red chili. You get the play of textures with crunch from the onions and rice.

4. Ginger capsicum noodlesā€”Hakka noodles tossed with assorted peppers, ginger, beans, carrots, mushrooms and chili ginger paste.

Both the jungle fried rice and noodles went well with the chili paneer.

Desserts:

1. You have the most interesting desserts on the menu and I bet you wouldnā€™t have eaten these combinations elsewhere!

2. Sea salt caramel banana toffeeā€”sea salt caramel mousse with banana, served with toffee sauce and white chocolate disc. Loved the marriage of flavors.

3. Praline noisetteā€”amond sponge cake topped with hazelnut praline, dark chocolate mousse and crunchy chocolate wafer. Chocolate loverā€™s paradise!

4. Sesame ballsā€”sesame balls filled with red bean paste, served with vanilla icecream! Feels like street food you get in South East Asia.

5. Milo ice creamā€”Congratulations! You get to eat milo with every bite! What more could you ask for?

Eastern Wedge is a Vegetarian Asian Restaurant serving authentic Thai, Malaysian, Japanese and Chinese Cuisine all under one roof, like never before. It is Vegan friendly as well. They focus on both, traditional and contemporary cooking styles, to delight our taste buds. Also, they pay attention to every tiny detail from the ingredients to the presentation to taste.

As we were a group of 8-9 people, we tried a wide variety of their appetisers, main-course and desserts. Everything was equally good and appetising.

Kushiyaki:
A Japanese delicacy where in the Veggies are skewered and grilled over charcoal fire.

We tried Mushrooms, cauliflower, broccoli, corn, zucchini, and capsicum. Their house special includes green bell-peppers and eggplant. These were all mildly seasoned and served with 3 delicious dips (Miso, Wasabi, and Kushiyaki Sauce).

Every bite was too good. Never expected Veggies to taste this good. Very surprising.

Spinach Dumplings:
Oh boy! This was extremely good. Delicate as flower on the outside and flavourful on the inside. Definitely my favourite. This was served on a bed of carrots.

Glutinous rice wrapped in Lotus Leaf:
This was beautifully done and presented so well. Loved the sticky rice and it had a very smoky flavour to it. First of its kind that I had tried and I absolutely loved it.

BBQ Mushroom Buns:
Such thick and soft outer layer holding in some delicious mushroom filling. This was super filling and quite heavy. It also had a bit of sweet flavour because of the sauce.

Glutinous Rice Shumai/ Siu Mai:
A very traditional Chinese style dumpling made with sticky rice and minced vegetables. Too good and yummy.

Pandan Paneer.
Paneer cooked to perfection and wrapped in Pandan leaves. These leaves are used for flavouring purposes. The Paneer was so soft and succulent.

Tempura Veggies:
Veggies in some delicious tempura batter made in house. They use high quality and tasty bread crumbs which are imported. There were mushrooms, corn, broccoli, eggplant and capsicum. Not oily one bit.

Schezwan Shiitake Mushrooms:
Definitely one of the best. Loved the mild spice. It was absolutely mouth-watering and finger licking good.

Chanko Nabe:
Udon noodles, assorted veggies and broth of our choice (Tomato, Miso and Soy). We opted for Miso. This was definitely the highlight of the meal. First of its kind for me. I loved the mild flavoured broth. The veggies and noodles were too good.

Lotus stem:
Super crunchy with a yummy sweet flavour to it. So good that I wanted more of it.

For the mains, we ordered Jungle Fried Rice, Ginger Capsicum Noodles, Eggplant and Chilly Paneer.

Jungle Fried Rice:
It is one of their specials and was so perfect with the gravy. Loved its colours and flavour.

Ginger Capsicum Noodles:
Mild ginger flavour added a great punch to the Noodles. Loved it too.

Chilly Paneer:
Always a favourite. Very delectable. Such huge chunks of Paneer. Not watery.

Eastern Wedge Eggplant:
Felt like slicing a piece of grilled fish. Looked so much like it but tasted wonderful.

Try the following for beverages:

Nutty milo: Something to die for. Nothing like before. A beautiful blend of Peanut Butter and Milo.

Fresh lemongrass cooler: Very refreshing and tasty.

Mandarin and Basil Spritzer: Too strong but not bad.

Rose Milk: A classic! Made very well.

Virgin Baileys: Yummy is the word you guys.

For the desserts, we tried:

Sesame balls stuffed with Red Beans and served with a scoop of Vanilla Ice-cream: Oh boy! I couldnā€™t stop with one bite. Such a perfect combo.

Seasalt caramel banana toffee: Took me to my seventh heaven. A perfect blend of caramel and banana, served in a cute jar.

Praline noisette delice: A Chocolate loverā€™s dream. It melts in the mouth quite literally. Looks too appetising.

This place is one of the best Asian Restaurants that I have been to lately. You will not meat after munching on these lovely delicacies.

Itā€™s time to take a break from all that spicy food and experience the wonders that these vegetables do, with each being so delectable and flavourful.

A proper, authentic experience. The waiters were quite professional. As I don't have much expertise in eastern dining, they explained the dishes and taste with patience, recommended according to my palate. A meal for five cost us around 2.5k. Good place for family. Go only if you want to taste something different. No "Indian" dishes available here.

Great place for Asian Veg food food in Alwapet. Near the Russian centre, very helpful staff and tasty Asian food. It's most authentic but the spice levels have been adjusted keeping the Indian palate in mind so you won't find the food bland. Eaten here 3 times and enjoyed it each time. They will make adjustments to the dishes to suit your needs. Must try the Thom kha soup, mandarin basil spritzer and the shiitake mushroom fry. Also enjoyed the Asian glass noodles.

Located very close to Russian Cultural center and very easy to spot so you won't find hard to locate this. Have ample of parking for both cars and bikes. Ambience wise I'll say it has very good ambience and ample of seating. We visited this at 7:30pm during Sunday so not much of crowd was there. Service was prompt and good. It's pure veg Chinese restaurant so will be heart breaking for non veg lovers and heaven for veggie lovers. Menu is Little bit expensive side but it is expected, rate is as per location and service so no complaint with that. Food quality was good and we really enjoyed our dinner time. So altogether 4 star for that.

I had 1 Dan Dan noodles & 1 sweet & sour pineapple take away, both the dishes i enjoyed, service was excellent, food is vegetarian & cooked with hygiene, they welcome you & take good care while you are at their restaurant. Do visit. Only 1 suggestion, since I was a single person, the quantity was more, if I had an option to choose half portion of the item ordered I would have been happy, I wasn't able to complete it as a single person.

Amazing experience .. my sister wanted to visit this place and luckily we we're near about to this place .. Though we had an early lunch, nothing much stopped us for another one at Eatern Wedge. It all started with an appetizer, we landed up eating a full course meal. The food was just amazing, not to miss the signature dish jungli rice. Ambiance was good as well. The rates were nominal, I just hope the quality and quantity of food remains the same.

Without a doubt, this is the best fusion-style restaurant in Chennai and maybe even all of Asia. Seriously. This may be the best kept secret in all of India. We were a party of six and shared the same dishes around the table. We were given a lovely private room that felt as if we were dining in an elegant home. The concert of deliciousness began with Lemon Garlic Coriander Soup. It was an explosion of flavors--each individually distinct. My stomach immediately thanked my mouth for its effort. This was the best-tasting soup I have ever experienced in my life, and being born and bred in New York City, I've tasted my share of soup. Next came the heavy guns: Tub Tim Syam, Honey Chillie Lotus Stem, Pandan Paneer, Japanese Burnt Garlic Rice, Spinach Dumplings, Szechuan Noodles and Crispy Corn Pie [which resembled little stacked hay bales on a miniature farm], not to mention the Kung Pao Vegetables. The wait staff was professional, friendly and tentative to the extreme--they anticipated our every need, and we were never rushed. The best part was when the bill finally arrived. I couldn't believe my eyes! It came to a mere $53.95 CAD. That included the gratuity. I only wish the restaurant was better displayed--one has to look for it or know it's there. I rarely give 5 stars in a review, but I'd give 6 or more if they'd let me.

It's pretty sad to not see alot of people come and visit this beautiful place, they serve delicious Asian dishes which is so pleasing for our tastebuds, and since this place has a lot of varieties when it comes to vegetarian food I am sure the herbivores wouldn't be disappointed. On whole their service , food, and the ambience is excellent and this place definitely a must try.
