I came to know about this place , thru a You tube review video, and hence our Family of 4 Visited this Place Yesterday for an early break fast.
The you tube review elevated this outlet to the heights of Andes mountains, but nowhere close to that kind of praise.
The look , decor ,and ambiance is good.
Food was good, but we did have few disappointments.
Very first thing , that disappointed us was the reception.. Though ,the restaurant has provided guided street parking, we were struck right in front of the restaurant, since another car was blocking the way, the attendant at the Parking area was unconcerned.
Upon entering , we were welcomed by a " Parade sergeant" type person, whom i understand is the manager.( he was quite stiff and uncaring) , his voice ,& body language were certainly not in line with Customer Relation requirements.
We were 4 , with an infant of 3 months, hence we wanted a secluded place, just to ensure that cries of the kid does not disturb others.
This floor manager was very reluctant to seat us , despite the space was empty, perhaps he wanted to save Electricity charges.
I put my foot down and insisted on , separate area. Got it.
The Waiter , who attended us , neither knew local language nor English, luckily his pronunciation confirmed that he is from the Hindi belt and my knowledge in Hindi ensured proper communication.
We were told Medu Vada would not be available , and advised to opt for other type. Strange indeed , Never a South Indian breakfast is served with out Medu Vada .
Miniature Idlis floating in Sambhar was classified as Sambhar Idly, a new learning from the "Parade Sergeant ".
Idly was soft ,good, reminded me of home made idly, Sambhar was good , but was missing the South Indian Tinge.
Coconut chutney was a Himalayan Blunder,
Poori was superb and it instantly communicated that , it was prepared by a North Indian cook,, the accompanying Potato dish was a cocktail of previous days left over and the one made for the day.
Medu Vada made a sudden appearance, but contained the signature mark of a North Indian preparing it, slightly burnt out . Delicious Sambhar , nicely covered up the burnt taste.
I took a walk around the main seating area, which offers an excellent view of kitchen.
It was well lit, well maintained, clean .
This restaurant has to ensure that, all their staff look fresh , wear neatly ironed uniform and avoid full black colour, ( perhaps patches of white can be added in their uniform). .My family was bit uneasy to get the food served by a person wearing full black dress.
Full black , that too , right in the morning is considered inauspicious
I did not see any South Indian faces among the cooking team,
Lot of scope for improvement.
Pricing is bit on the higher side. But OK for the Credit card flashing crowd
