#Veg #Casual Dining Amount Spent: < 500Rs What we ordered 1. Pongal 2. Medhu vada 3. Idly 4. Poori Masala 5. Thattu Idly Ambience is contemporary with plates design and though western in look / feel, carnatic music in the background gives a native South Indian feel. They have a provision to see through the cooking done by chefs can be seen through. Service was good. Waiters were kind and courteous. Everything was tasty but note that everything is expensive. Tea and coffee 100 ml is 55 RS. Poori was so soft. Thattu idli was soft with podi on top. Sambar was tasty. Pongal quantity was so less but taste was classic. Idlis soft. All well except for price considered to other shops like adyar Ananda Bhavan or saaravana Bhavan or murugan idli. Recommend if you want a tasty veg destination with high prices

ID Besant is a great little place. It's cozy, modern and serves great South Indian food. A walk on the beach and then food for lunch or dinner will make your day.

As usual good food .... Good service and ambience.... But the place looked a bit cramped compared to other branches... Parking is limited....

This restaurant makes delicious dosas, chutneys and sambar. Filter coffee is good too though one wishes for the iconic south Indian steel tumbler and flat cup. Their coffee is served in the less desirable porcelain cup.

The taste is maintained just as in ID Sathyam to a large extent. But the space is too small for Bessie crowd in weekends.

Courteous staff and a good food. The spice is just too good to resist, especially Thattu Idly. Cheese Dosa is a must try. The ambience is good with a view into the kitchen. It's about 25 seats capacity. Peak hour, if you're in a hurry, hard to get seats without waiting time .

A little more upscale than your average dosa shop, so expect to pay a little more than you would elsewhere. However, I think the quality of the food and the setting makes the higher price tag worth it, especially for tourists looking for a "safe" spot to eat. Ordered three different dosas, all properly crispy and with generous amount of filling (mushroom, roasted garlic, masala). Each dosa served with three different chutneys (coconut, tomato, cilantro) and daal, a decent amount of each. With three coffees, a bottle of water and a dessert, total bill came to about 900 rupees. Service was quick, facilities were clean. Another bonus is that this location is walking distance from the beach and many other shops.

Awesome authentic local vegetarian food. I haven't tried everything in the menu, but I absolutely enjoyed the Podi Idli and Pongal. There is a range of dosas, idli, vadas etc to chose from and close the meal with an excellent filter coffee. Service is fast and the staff are very courteous. Parking can be a bit difficult but all in all, this place is worth a visit.

The place is a little offbeat from main road so it was difficult to find but the Courteous staff and amazing food improved the mood. Thatte idli here was good and sambhar served too is real hot. They give variety of chutney but in very small quantity so don't shy in asking for second third helpings. They have open kitchen with live counter for dosas but the best part was their filter coffee. They even keep the cup in warm water for sometime so that your coffee stays hot longer.

I came to know about this place , thru a You tube review video, and hence our Family of 4 Visited this Place Yesterday for an early break fast. The you tube review elevated this outlet to the heights of Andes mountains, but nowhere close to that kind of praise. The look , decor ,and ambiance is good. Food was good, but we did have few disappointments. Very first thing , that disappointed us was the reception.. Though ,the restaurant has provided guided street parking, we were struck right in front of the restaurant, since another car was blocking the way, the attendant at the Parking area was unconcerned. Upon entering , we were welcomed by a " Parade sergeant" type person, whom i understand is the manager.( he was quite stiff and uncaring) , his voice ,& body language were certainly not in line with Customer Relation requirements. We were 4 , with an infant of 3 months, hence we wanted a secluded place, just to ensure that cries of the kid does not disturb others. This floor manager was very reluctant to seat us , despite the space was empty, perhaps he wanted to save Electricity charges. I put my foot down and insisted on , separate area. Got it. The Waiter , who attended us , neither knew local language nor English, luckily his pronunciation confirmed that he is from the Hindi belt and my knowledge in Hindi ensured proper communication. We were told Medu Vada would not be available , and advised to opt for other type. Strange indeed , Never a South Indian breakfast is served with out Medu Vada . Miniature Idlis floating in Sambhar was classified as Sambhar Idly, a new learning from the "Parade Sergeant ". Idly was soft ,good, reminded me of home made idly, Sambhar was good , but was missing the South Indian Tinge. Coconut chutney was a Himalayan Blunder, Poori was superb and it instantly communicated that , it was prepared by a North Indian cook,, the accompanying Potato dish was a cocktail of previous days left over and the one made for the day. Medu Vada made a sudden appearance, but contained the signature mark of a North Indian preparing it, slightly burnt out . Delicious Sambhar , nicely covered up the burnt taste. I took a walk around the main seating area, which offers an excellent view of kitchen. It was well lit, well maintained, clean . This restaurant has to ensure that, all their staff look fresh , wear neatly ironed uniform and avoid full black colour, ( perhaps patches of white can be added in their uniform). .My family was bit uneasy to get the food served by a person wearing full black dress. Full black , that too , right in the morning is considered inauspicious I did not see any South Indian faces among the cooking team, Lot of scope for improvement. Pricing is bit on the higher side. But OK for the Credit card flashing crowd
