Location- 5/5:~10km from Tiruvanmiyur in ECR, the dining experience begins with a short but nice ride, skipping initial traffic in peak hours. Easy to spot and has a lot of parking space.
Ambience- 4.5/5:Calm and pleasing. Comfortable seating. A nice place to hang out with family and friends.
Service- 4/5:Friendly staff, quick on orders.
Price: 3.5/5: Not too high, but not easy on the pocket as well.
Food- 3.5/5:We had been here for dinner. Our order:
* Mokka Jonna soup- Don't expect anything new, it's just the usual sweet corn soup. Usual taste and good.
* Kappa varuthathu- Again, tapioca chips. The masala flavor was surprisingly very good. Not so usual.* Apollo Paneer- Soft and had a not so usual taste. Good.
* Mini parotta- they just gave a normal regular one.* veechu parotta- good.* Thenkasi chilly parotta- Very good.* Jack fruit curry- wanted to try something new- it was different but the pieces was so disappointing. We expected something done with the fruit part, instead the pieces was hard and had a not so enjoyable taste. None of the four of us liked it. Had to leave all the pieces. Gravy was good.* Tri colored podi idli- just a fancy name- it was a bit different to taste but not enjoyable.* kuzhi paniyaram- not in the menu. Taste was very good.* Aappam with thengapaal- Excellent !
* Ela ada- a nice sweet. Tasted good.* Lime soda- usual, good.
Among all, Aapam thengapaal was out of the world. Long time since i'd had such a wonderful aappam.Must try!

nice vegetarian place. taste was good and the cost is reasonable. serving was done quickly and very neat. I think this place is known for the thali meals which we didn't try. taste of jigarthanda could have been better.
Perfect place to go with family esp elders and foodies who have starving for home made food. We have been here second gime. Kerala style dishes available. We had payiru kozambu, jackfruit biriyani, avakai rice, ela ada. The quality of curd can't be expressed but can feel again again in curd rice and raitha. Wat more? You have to try first and lot!

The service was very quick and efficient, if you are really hungry you will be quickly satisfied. We ordered dosas which could have had more filling, but the overall taste was good. Starters were very good. Good ambience. The location is convenient and ample parking is available.
If you're out for a morning drive in the ECR stretch, this can be your breakfast stop for a nice and palatable South Indian cuisine. Special mention to their filter coffee.
Also, prices are a bit on the higher side.
I have been there twice and the place is awesome. The ambiance is neat the food is great, the lunch has good variety and the place is value for money.
Out for some work in ECR, we wanted to have vegetarian meals for lunch... We settled for Andhra meals... I had remembered seeing a board for Amravati on drives and we quickly settled in on Dakshina Puram which is from the same group of Amravati but one that is pure vegetarian....
We ordered 2 Vegetarian meals....
The meals came... They came with Chappati, Rice, Palak Dal, Aloo masala, Cabbage side dish, Kara Kolambu, Sambar, Rasam, Payasam, Dal Podi, Ghee, Papad and Assorted Pickles...
We loved all the pickles and we tried all of them...
Since we landed for lunch on Valentine’s Day, we were amused to find heart shaped Papad...
All the gravies or accompaniments tasted great... Nothing to change as they all tasted great..
I wish it had been some other vegetable other than cabbage...
Wholesome and tasty meal... Very happy with the meal.. Might not be a very cheap option for Andhra meals.. But worth the price for taste, ambience and service ...

Very good South Indian meals in ECR. WFM with multiple pickle and podi options. You will leave the place tummy full. Yet to try their tiffen options.
Located on the ECR, this place would make for an ideal meal for vegetarians, when your looking to have something new. Very limited menu, but everything stands out. They have dishes from different parts of South india.
Personal favourites are avakkai biryani and thenkasi chilli barotta.

Had visited this place on my return back from Mahabalipuram. Good food was available at 3.00pm. had ordered meals and it was fulfilling. Good place for veg andra meals.
I was here for breakfast. Good food but really slow service. They should also indicate spicy and non spicy on thier breakfast menu. We didn't expect the food to be this spicy.
The restaurent opening time says 7am on board outside. The menu and zomato says it is 7:30 am but it actually opens at 8am.

This place should be a lot more popular in my opinion
The FOOD here is always fresh, flavourful and delicious. Some of the dishes may even taste like ones prepared at home. Every dish here is delicious, I feel that they use fully natural ingredients and there is almost no use of special masala packets or added color. It's a pity that the parottas don't come with the kurma that is normally served, but every single curry they make , every main course dish, every single starter is finger licking good, rich in spices and fragrant.
The SERVICE is good too, they do a good job of making one feel welcome. Sometimes the dish takes time to arrive but in my opinion that's excusable because they prepare every dish fresh and all. They are also polite and serve with a smile .
The AMBIENCE is great, it's really clean , the decor is good , the lighting is perfect , there is a live counter at one corner, for making appams etc. The tables are comfortable. Overall a very enjoyable experience.

Good restaurant with pleasing ambience. The quality of the food was excellent. I tried Akki Roti, Bisibelabath and Thenkasi Chili Parota. Quantity is more than what you pay for! Loved the place. Only thing which they can improve is the air conditioning. Other than that, they're brilliant.
Had been there with family 4 times. Well, now I the time to write the review. I would say, the best place to have good vegetarian food in ECR. Even though it's slightly expensive, it's value for money. The ambience.
Mr Stalin, Who manages the place is very friendly and attentive to the guests. Overall good food laced with great service.
Customisation is not taken care
The food is superb and so is the quantity. Bang for buck! But the only thing lacking (in almost all delivery places and services) is mindful packing ie plastic is wastefully used. Please try innovative eco friendly packing options.
Love their pickels and biryani. Nice place for lunch and dinner. Ambience also really great. They also have unlimited menus you can choose from.
Have tried puttu with channa curry, benne dosa and thatta idly. All dishes tasted delicious. Channa curry was a little oily, otherwise it is a good place for light dinner or snacks.
They have live cooking counter also for dosas and other dishes. Ambience is refreshing. They have ample parking space and good seating arrangements. Service is quick. Staff is also very courteous.
Went here for lunch with family. 4 of us had meals and 1 had jackfruit biriyani. My mother was very happy about the meals. Quality and quantity was great. Choice of about 6 pickles was good. At about Rs 155 per meals (+ tax), price is reasonable too. Fried Chilli was crispy which I liked a lot (in most places it gets cold by the time it is served).

The place is so comfortable and quiet for a weekend getaway with family.
Their baby potato briyani and the avakka rice is so authentic. There are a variety of dishes that one wouldn't see in any commercial restaurants, those dishes were well served in an authentic fashion.

It was a little crowded as it was a Sunday. The service is extremely slow I.e. the wait time is 25mins plus easily .
We orders South Indian meals , veg biryani , spicy banana roast ( excellent dish😍 ) , baby corn fry, phulka and mushroom gravy . All the dishes were up to the mark .

A really good place for veggies 😊 Do visit this place with your family. I and mom stopped by to have our lunch. We ordered chepakilangu roast, akki roti and corn rice. All of them tested really good. Pakka! The rice quantity was perfect for two of us. And how can I not mention the ambiance! It was neat, peaceful and lively. A perfect place for family hangover. All though the price for some seems little high, I personally feel the food was worth it. And last but not the least they provide a humble and friendly service 😃👍 Have a good time💐

They have a ethinic theme in their wallpapers which goes very well with their modern furniture. And the boat setup inside where they make aapam , idiyappam ,puttu, paniyaram and someother things which is good to watch and very attractive i would say.

The food is well prepared and tastes really good. If i were to eat vegetarian i would defenitely go there and would suggest that if you are going to ECR . Neer dosa with coconut shavings was really good . I also ordered kadala kari which i would say was made to perfection which goes very well with dosa and even parotta..
Cost
I would say its pretty costly but not so expensive it would be around 500 for two people to eat

While looking for a fine dining Veg Restaurant around ECR/OMR for a large group of 10 ppl, I suggested Dakshinapuram and I guess I didn't disappoint the group.
It had a large parking space though it's been shared by another restaurant. Ambiance was good. The Tanjore paintings were very attractive.
The menu carried lot of known dishes but we wanted to try a few non conventional ones... Kara idly, Thenkasi chilli parota. Both were excellent. Try them if you've a taste for chilly. Soups were quite ordinary. Few other regular ones like Fried Rice and Dosa varieties were good. Was disappointed with the dessert though. We tried Ela Ada and Pal Adapradhaman. I'm familiar with both dishes and thought both of them were a bit off. Ela Ada was too sweet.
Overall, it was a good dinner and will visit again for another suitable occasion.
Read many reviews about the excellent vegetarian food available here and hence we visited here for breakfast.
However, they had very limited menu options like dosa, pongal, kuli paniyaram, buttermilk, etc. We ordered a ghee roast and kuli paniyaram and 2 glasses of buttermilk - all were quite good. However, we came here specifically for the variety of options - ranging from Kerala to Andhra style dishes and were sorely disappointed.
The total bill was 259 Rs. - which seems slightly high but still affordable.
Wish they have their entire menu available always.

Service alone needs to be improved. Had to literally call people each and everytime. Even though there weren't much people, service was bad.

It's quite amazing taste of the food we ordered for our family get together. Ordered Idly, Idiyappam, Chapathi for dinner (3/6/2017) and Meals for Lunch (4/6/2017) for about 100 peoples. I'm just speechless about the quality of food and delivery. Delivered before the scheduled time. I'm impressed about their service I should say. Staffs were polite. Very Satisfied. Will visit their restaurant soon to taste their variety of menu.

Pongal is the ultimate of all breakfast here.. the essence of ghee is seen in its aroma.. they prepare chutney in the right form .. good ambience ..
Wanna try something new and authentic? This is the place. Apollo panneer, neer dosa, murugaikai soup and many other things on the menu, you wouldn't find them in other restaurants. VFM and would definitely visit again is it is a veg only day 😎

If you are a vegetarian and if you want to experience a different menu on the ECR stretch , Dakshina Puram is something that you should try out. The cuisine here is primarily andhra and kerala style . From neer dosa and pesarattu upma to kuzhi paniyaram and puttu , Dakshina Puram has a surprising menu .
I tried our their Tenkasi chilly parotta , Adai aviyal, kuzhi paniyaram and butter milk . I was not impressed with the Adai aviyal , however the rest were perfect . The chilly parotta was crispy , spicy and served hot . The kuzhi paniyaram had a perfect crust with a soft core and went well with the chutney . The clay pot churned butter milk was amazing and worth every buck .
A different experience among most other routine vegetarian joints , live food counter, good service , very pocket friendly and ample parking space . Will definitely visit here more often .

Visited again and this time tried out the Neer Dosa , Ghee Karam idly , veechu parotta, kadala curry , Puttu and Ela ada. The kadala curry and the puttu combination was impressive .

Parappu podi, choice of pickles are their great attractions . very affordable, clean, pleasant ambience, and plenty of parking space. the Thali is what I have all the time I visit, several times, and it has never let me down! their sambar, and keerai kootu and thuvaiyal is a great combo which reminds of a yummy andhra experience!!!
Very well located, spacious parking, lovely restaurant with a proper south Indian theme! They serve the authentic and typical south cuisine like all the 4 states mixed 2gthr! Priced well, service was not bad types, well maintained..would visit again for sure!

Visited on a saturday around 2 pm. Not much crowded. Ambience, staff service and space between tables decent. Ample space for parking.

Andhr a meals - podi and dhall were good. Sambar, rasam were average. They have 6 varieties of pickle, tasted good.

Puttu kadalai combination was extraordinary..people who consume only veg can visit here if they have any plans to hit ecr..Good ambience with good service..
Honestly, I did not expect the food to be this good. The place serves only vegetarian South Indian food and they have an amazing variety! The sambar is one of the best that I've had and their chutneys were also delicious. For a South Indian food lover this is a must visit. Everything on the menu should be tried.

Ambiance - Small place with some chettiar dolls set up. there is also a live kithchen where they make appams. Not a huge space and can get a little noisy. it is best suited for a family crowd.
Food. They serve authentic south indian food. Kerala, Andhar Pradesh and Tamil Nadu Cuisines. The menu is interesting they have some healthy options like ragi dosa, wheat dosa, neer dosa . So a big bonus point from my side when the menu does not look identical to other hotels.
We tried the sepankazhangu and Banana roast . Not at all greasy so loved it but definitely can add a little bit more flavour. We tried the benne dosa which was quite tasty and the chuntneys were good as well.
The adai we ordered was way too spicy. I understand they wanted to ad peppers to enhance taste but it was way too many pepper corns.
The elai adai was delicious and was well prepared with both jackfruit and jaggery filling and was served super hot .

So, the live kitchen , the decor in short,the look of the restaurant was the reason we stepped in. Till I had food here I was under impression that only 'Murugan Idli shop' serves the BEST south Indian cuisine. But, after having south Indian dishes here, I can say that Dakshina Puram gives a tough competition to Murugan. It has a different unique taste unlike tamilian South Indian dishes which makes it exciting to try all the possible items in menu. Apart from taste, staff is friendly and will assist you in case you don't understand the dish. The photos in the menu give you a rough idea about how the recipe will be served. My personal favorite is Ila ada, a sweet dish and a must try. Do visit Dakshina Puram if you are looking for a reasonable place to have south Indian cuisine.
I honestly don't understand why the rating is low of this place. Had gone here with my folks after a long tiring day at vgp. The sign says vegetarian southern and they don't disappoint. We were a huge group and we ordered a lot of dishes. Every one of them was delicious. The order was brought without a long wait, the food was piping hot and the waiters were prompt and polite. The ambience was pretty good too.. Their live cooking station which makes one special dish from each South Indian state was very nice. Will surely come back here if I am passing by.
2.5 ratings doesn't do this place justice. This is a really good place to take your family for a pure veg experience. For my family we ordered kottu porota, ennai katrika, appams, Mysore masala dosa, rava dosa. The food and the service was excellent. Not sure what people are complaining about. Excellent place to take a stop in ECR.

Lunch was fantastic,had meals and it was good 😊 the chapatti with channa side dish was so good and the karkollam rice and malgapodi rice 🍚 was outstanding,those who like south indian meals it is beat place to visit here in hotel the price of meals and other allkart food is affordable and reasonable,butter milk was nice and the service was excellent and ambience was also good.

Been to this restaurant twice for dinner with my family.
I am a big fan of their Ela Ada and Pal Adapradhaman.
The first time I went their I tried their Pal Paniyaaram and loved it. Ordered the dish on my second visit and was immensely disappointed. The paniyaaram had a bad taste and it spoiled my otherwise good dinner.
The service is a bit slow but you could see that the waiters were trying their best.
The varieties of the Main Course gravies are very limited and also highly priced.
Prices of the other dishes are pretty much acceptable.
Verdict - This is a restaurant that I would keep as one of my options if I am in the mood for some vegetarian food.

Went for an occasion with family. They have a nice spread of vegetarian food, many traditional items. Taste, some like Appam, Puttu were good. Others there is a scope for improvement. All served lukewarm which is another area for improvement. If you love South Indian vegetarian food, this is a place to go. You will not be disappointed.
Very distinct menu, the best highlight is the live cooking.
I liked the neer dosa with sweet coconut and appam with coconut milk.
We also ordered an another item where we found a mistake and it was immediately attended with politeness and their friendliness to change and correct the mistake..

A good choice for those who prefers to have a vegetarian night and the dishes were good for health too. Ghee was everywhere from dishes to chutneys. Need Dosai,Ragi Dosa,Thaata Idli and lot more dishes were there. Try it atleast once. Jiharthanda was too bad and doesn't felt like one. ISKON temple is nearby.
This would be the ideal place if you would love a drive in ECR road and want to grab some south Indian vegetarian cuisine. So we went there on a dinner and first looks were pretty good. The restaurant looked neat and the interiors were good. So you would get south Indian dishes, nothing too extravagant. We ordered the Apollo fish and corn and both were above average. The chilli parota was average and adi was good. Service time is decent as well and its a good place if you want to spend for about an hour.
A wrong U-turn brought us here... We were planning on going to New Town restaurant which is opposite VGP, but we missed the U-turn that we were supposed to take and somehow landed at Dakshina Puram.
Ambience : The ambience of the place is good.
Variety : They do have a different and decent range of South Indian dishes. One can find interesting stuff like Ulli theeyal, Panneer burji and Seppankizhangu roast on the menu.
Food : Food is very good. Make sure to try the Spicy Banana Fry on the main course (dry) menu. It was very tasty. We had Spicy Banana Fry, Seppankizhangu roast and Ulli Theeyal with white rice. Everything was extraordinary. Serving time is also less.
Price : Price is decent and the food is definitely worth the price.
All in all, a great South Indian (veg) cuisine restaurant to go to if you are on ECR at a given point of time.

A very nice eating place. We had gone for breakfast. The Vada was very good and so was Podi Dosa- not very oily.
Few suggestions. The Idlies should be served hot. Can even be heated with microwave ovens. But Idlies should be hot. The Sambar was definitely not upto mark. Having sugar (even slight amount) in Sambar is not acceptable in Chennai! If they wish, they can offer choice of Sambar. The chutney could be better.
I have already mentioned about another branch of Dakshinapuram located in Velachery. This place is out in ECR and have good space for parking and near to Delhi dhabha. We went in as a six ppl. Ordered quite a few dishes to taste and it was fast our plates where empty. I've been to different veg restaurants and I believe this guys have a good taste. I will recommend this place for veg eaters. 👍🏻
Well today I loved the food...... The service was again below average..... I tasted almost all the food that was there to offer.... The "puttu " was good....

At the end of East Coastal Road while entering Chennai. Food is good. I liked Neer Dosa which is the dish of Karnataka. I also recommend to try Jackfruit biryani and Mushroom biryani. They have live kitchen too. Place is nice and clean. Ambience is good.
Pure veg reataurabt. Good ambience,Service was prompt, soups and starters were spicy, the other menu items were good. For the cost of menu, the quantity served seemed little lesser. Overall a Good experience. Few options only for desserts.
Dakshina puram just 4 kms from VGP. This place is a small street which have food courts like dhaba, south vegetarian hotel, ice cream parlor. There is common parking. Very limited menu items for South Indian veggies.
Dakshina Puram on the main road in ECR near the ISKCON temple is a Pure Veg Joint and has an unstoppable menu. It has a tinge of Kerala cuisine.Good ambience.Located in food court which includes a sweet shop & Delhi Dhaba with a KulfiZone.
They provide the four course of breakfast,lunch,snacks,dinner,supper.Is it Four or five.
Some Unique recipe's are served here like chakka ela ada,Murungai soup,Avakkai Rice,Kola Putty,etc.
Fantastic tasty food for the south Indian palate.
Worth a visit.
Good place for vegetarians. Can see some authentic south Indian dishes. There is an open house small kitchen for Dosa.. so basically you can see them making them. Food is not very tasty through but the presentation is very good.
The place offers tasty Vegetarian spread. The live kitchen along with good service staff adds special value to the place. It has ample parking space. The ambiance is also good.
The in this hotel is really good and they have many different types of food available. The service from the staff working there is also impressive. The only thing that I felt is it is too costly. The prices are a bit higher than usual. So, visit if you can afford. The taste is good but it is not good value for money.
The restaurant is cozy and boasts of very healthy and varied south Indian cuisine especially that of Andhra. What I loved was they give ghee and some speciality pickles of the region generously for the customer to use. Also the toys of different south states adds a good touch to the ambience.
