Everything is served on fresh banana leaves. The staff here are extremely friendly. The person who looked after our table was Mr. Saravan Kumar. We asked him what is special in Mysore masala dosa and whether it contains garlic. Because of some communication gap (as he is from bihar) he didn't understand our question and we decided to try it out. Once the order came we got to know Mysore masala dosa is smeared with garlic paste. In my family all are allergic to garlic. Hence we told them the problem. Several staff came immediately and cleared our table without making any fuss and gave us fresh order. Finally we told Mr. Saravan Kumar we will pay for the Mysore masala dosa too. But he just didn't accept it and very politely refused it saying customer priority is of top most concern. The friendliness of these staff members really made our day.
Amazing podi idli and podi dosa. Loved it.

Lovely south Indian brakefast ,nice dining good food specially ghee pongal, chettainad dhosai. I like this place, good service. all is good, g
Podi idli 🥳🥳🥳 Best place to try! We tried multiple menu there and all were superrrrrrr
Podi idli...to die for... we visit with family...super value for money. Service is friendly... i love the varities od chutney that they offer...
The best place to eat podi idli and try the varieties of chutneys available but it burns a big hole in ur pocket, otherwise a do visit juncture to enjoy a south Indian meal
Last week I was in Chennai and hot to experience different variations of sambars and chuntneys.
Out of all, this place became my best take away joint.
The flavour of sambar was too good, the chutneys they serve were also flavour some. I got to try out their various other dishes from the menu item. All were too good and I must commend on their packaging, it was the best from all the other places I tried!
Nice ambience food served in banana leaves good appetite good varieties Severe with care and caution
Price is about high but food is worth of it
This is my first time here ( i know !) and as soon as I opened the door, i felt like i was stepping into 1980s ( in a good way). Set up was simple and they laid out the banana leaf as soon as we sat down. We had podi idly, paneer dosa, sakkarai pongal, normal idly and loved everything. Chutneys were decent and so was the sambhar - they refill everything from time to time. Service was courteous but rushed due to the crowd. Bill was approx 300 which was a really good deal for a restaurant of this quality. Looking forward to trying other dishes here.

Neither the first time nor the last!
Love for ghee and podi brings me to this place again and again!
Coffee barely warm, should have been served hot . Since we were the last two people, not complaining.
393 bucks for two people. Satisfied!
Softest Idly I ever had. Don't miss the combo of the chutneys, all three (spicy, medium, normal) and the traditional coconut chutney. Plain Dosa was crispy and delicious. Prices seems to be little higher but it's worth value for money.
One of the best restaurants serving south indian delicacies in chennai. I tried ghee podi idli, ghee dosai and jigarthanda. All the delicacies were really tasty and healthy. I loved the packaging. They rolled everything in the banana leaf. Highly recommended.

Happy Fooding :)
The food quality is very good. Podi Idly is a must try option and also Pongal. Good place for a proper South Indian breakfast.
Food is a little overpriced and ambience isn't very cozy. The place is often crowded. They charge extra for Podi also.
Overall, a nice place to have a nice breakfast!
When you're in Tamil Nadu, eat as the Tamilians do.
With 18 outlets across Chennai, this chain of restaurants is your best bet to try out authentic South Indian food.
While the place is simple in its setup, the food is impeccable in taste. Food is typically served on banana leaves here & eating by hand is the norm.
Highly recommend the Podi Idlis served with sambar & 4 types of chutneys. The idlis are super soft & fluffy, literally melting in your mouth. The taste is out of the world & frankly, it's the best that I've ever had!
Also, the Filter Coffee is super frothy & worth the hype.
PS: Podi is a course powder with a mixture of ground spices like dried chillies, urad dal, chickpeas, salt & sesame seeds.
It's a gud tasty experience with Murgan Idli Shop at my first time order here. Who all are prefer vegetarian will select this as your option
The idlis are the best from this place but costs like 20 a piece. You may get cheaper ones outside but the taste wouldnt be same as this. One of the softest idlis along with the crispy dosas make this place a must visit. You will get at least 4 different type of chutneys too.
You get to eat in traditional way on a banana leaf and in case you are not comfortable you can ask for spoons and other utensils, they haply oblige. The service here is very friendly. In case you can't visit them definitely try for an online order.
Amazing food nice service and everybody good thanks so much and good growing lovely people to like that do thanks dears bye have a nice day u
Softest Idly I ever had. Don't miss the combo of the chutneys, all three (spicy, medium, normal) and the traditional coconut chutney. Plain Dosa was crispy and delicious. Prices seems to be little higher but it's worth value for money. Finally tried the famous Madurai Jeegarthanda. It was super cool and that filled my dinner completely.
They serves the South Indian food in a very authentic style. You will get the food in banana leaf. The ghee podi idli is very special the idli is so buttery soft that it will melt in your mouth.
It was as per the requirement!
Had a portion of meals served on the banana leaves, Chennai style. The chutney here are legendary, and the podi idly that I ended up ordering extra was amazing!
Overall, a gastronomic delight. Good not if they could make it more appealing with the decors and have a quicker service.
When it come to extreme typical south indian breakfast then you go none other than Murugan idli!!!...The way they serve, their menu, their chutneys and podi's and their varieties,if one ever wishes to try typical authentic south indian style food then Murugan idli it is!!!..
Great service and quality of food..The one thing I don't like about this place is their quantity. Its almost 25-30% less serving than what one gets in A2B or HSB.. Quantity is a big let down here. One should order 2 dosas to have their stomach full .besides that it's amazing!!!
Last but not least their tasty Jigarthanda ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
My constant orders in any murugan idly kadai is a rava dosai and a couple of ghee podi idlies.
Rava dosai - Thin, crispy, melt in the mouth type accompanied with the yummiest of sides
Ghee podi idli - signature stuff. Soft idlies smeared with gracious amount of ghee and podi. Loved it.
Service was good
PS: I could notice many ppl ordering jigarthanda here. Being brought up in a place which is couple of minutes from the original 'famous jigarthanda' in madurai, I could say, the variant here is no where close to the original one.
The food is obviously good. Quality South Indian food with a nice array of sides. But the quantity is always lesser than expected. Uthapams are small and Idlis are sold by the piece. Found that a little annoying.
Bottom line: good food, slightly kanjoos.
Tasty food, made famous over the years... Decent ambience, decent service and not overly expensive. A place visited by all kinds of people - to indulge in pure veg south Indian fare. Expect some bit of waiting time during peak hours. Finding the place won't be a challenge, but parking can be since this is located on the main road and flyover construction is ongoing.
Go there with family and friends or just alone, you'll relish the food for sure. One may need to go at least 2 - 3 times to savour the entire menu, but if you already know what you want, you will find it easier to place your orders!
One of my favorite vegetarian restaurant. I love to have ghee podi idly ever time I come to this place. Parking is the only problem with this restaurant.
I totally loved the podi onion uttapam! It was really delicious! Roasted on the top and soft on the inside. Yum! If you are fan of onion dosa then it's a definitely a must try.
Do visit this 'idli shop' for the right Chennai meal. You will enjoy anything you order starting from the meals, dosa, payasam, idlis, vada... there is nothing that disappoints you at this restaurant. Surely hungry for more.
Murugan Idli has stood the test of time. After almost 10 years, I had food from Murugan idli and the taste is still the same. As good as the first time I had from a different outlet of theirs.
I had podi dosa and a plain dosa along with nice hot coffee. Love their sambar and chutney taste. Not to forget the podi.
The staff today was very friendly and considerate. Love them for giving attention n care to every customer. Absolutely yummy food and I am sure to visit often here now that I am in Chennai.
fine idly and sweet pongal. they maintain quality in idlies and chutnies .podi idly also very nice.they offer discount also in online order.

poriyal is not given but remaining this tastes gud and delivery time also gud
The restaurant is well known for its idlis and it does not disappoint! The idlis are unlike served elsewhere, they are soft and very delectable. I would also recommend the podi idlis. The restaurant is not that flashy, very affordable and good for a casual dine in experience.
I went last Sunday
I ordered masala dosa .
Taste is very very tasty
Pure vegetarian hotel
Full hygiene
Vry clean ..
They served dosa in banana leaves
With 4 types of chutney
Taste 5/5
Cleanliness 5/5
Service 5/5
Veg friendly
Pocket friendly
Their preparations are fresh and always served steaming hot. Kudos!
Their ghee roast dosa, poodi idli, and normal idli are a must try. The cheese paniyaram is okay.
The chutney aren’t impressive. Only the white coconut chutney is good. The rest are just to fill space on the banana leaf. Also the sandbar is okay.
The service needs to be more polite and customer friendly. Please treat non Tamil speaking people like you do to Tamil speaking people.
Really good place to try out idlis and many more south indian dishes. Would definitely recommend this to anyone who would like to try out some delicious south indian food.
Ordered jigarthanda online.
Definitely different from the jigarthandas that we get from local shops.
It tasted good. The ice cream was not the creamy type it was little bit the icy type.
It might seem a little too sweet for some people.
Really good place for having a breakfast on Sunday morning. Ambience needs to be improved a lot but the service & food taste and quality is the best. Really heaven place to have delicious authentic Tamilnadu cuisine breakfast.
Well honestly i do not like idli’s at all, but then murugan idli shop serves the best podi idli and definitely enjoyed idli for the first time apart from the one my mom makes 🙈
Talking about the dosa’s they were crispy and flavours were good.
fast delivery but food was not hot
The best tasting idlis in the world, that's my word for their delicacy. Prepare yourself to queue for a few minutes if you are going for dinner and you have to very patient. I was a solo traveler in Chennai, waited for a few mins to get a table as arranged by the staff at the door. Very courteous people, did their best to provide best service despite of high peak crowd. The Podi idly, butter dosa and the Jigarthanda milk - These are Exceptional. All thumbs up. Moreover its a feel when the food is served on banana leaves and do try the filter coffee too.
Idly,Sambhar and chutney were really tasty.worth spending.
The experience was decent, with nothing extraordinary except for the diverse array of chutneys. The service was attentive; extra chutney was offered before we could request it. Though pricier than comparable establishments, it appears that Murugan includes a brand premium in their charges.
The food is tasty, But the ambience is not good, It needs a lot of improvement. The service is very poor. They seem to be demotivated and unhappy. Very slow and uninterested in serving customers, as though they are running a free food campaign. They forgot that customers pay and eat. Still people come due to the previous patronage and name, which may not continue, if they don't change their attitude and service
Overall the food taste was good. Idli was very soft, fresh and had the amazing taste
Even if u try dosa you will fell you did not waste it. I will say you should try Murugan if possible.
Very nice dining here, quick clean service. Great flavours in all that we tried. Will definitely come back to try more.
An all-time favourite place! Very courteous staff who don't compromise at all on quality of service! The food is delicious, iconic, and most importantly, one of the safest and hygienic (a rarity in this city). For locals and tourists alike, this is a must-visit joint in #NammaMadras.

What can one say. Great place to grab a quick south Indian snack. They've been in the business long enough for customers not to be bothered with opinions. Great place.
One of the best breakfast joints in Chennai,
Ghee podi Idli is a must try.
The podi idli, ghee roast, sambhar idli is my favourite there! The taste is really whoa! My go to spot for atleast once a month! The price is bit high for that quantity and the service could be more polite!
