Visited this place thrice also ordered online. Good place
Definitely the place if you love Chaats and Chhole Bature. SGB is a restaurant with a dedicated floor for sweets and savory.
I also love the taste of their Rasgulla and Motichur. They have some good collection of Savories like Sev, Butter Muruku, Tiny dry Kachori and Samosa.
Everything tastes really good except some Paneer gravies which are too sweet to be eaten with Naan.

Ordered dilkush thali. Tasted good but they forgot the pickle. Not a big thing but just asked them about the pickle. I got a confused answer. First the supervisor said there is no pickle in the thali, he said you have to order the pickle , then i had to show him the menu which had pickle in it. The supervisor then said this this is the old menu . I felt like laughing as he was trying badly to cover up his mistake, then why did he charge us for the new menu, he should have charged us the old rate. Anyways not an issue at all. Just wanted to share the hilarious moment. Maybe he thought south indians wont notice.?
The food was great, freshly cooked, tasty and well presented. The waiters were attentive and service overall was good. Overall a good meal and great value and we will certainly be going back.
Gupta Bhavan is one of the places where you can get north indian snacks. Its tough when you are not from chennai and bored of the regular food. Its always the best place to enjoy the best snacks in Gupta Bhavan.

I have been liking Gupta Bhavan from my college days.. this was the only place which will serve chaats and other North Indian delicacies... Revisiting those memories was nice. Order north Indian meal combo and liked it. It was nice simple and easy on stomach.
Looking for a good north indian restaurant, then this place is for you. This place serves amazing north indian style delicacies. I tried chole bhature, pav bhaji, ras malai, basundi. All the items were exceptionally good and totally beyond my expectations. The only negative point about this place is the quantity. The quantity is really less comparing the price point, i would advise restaurant to work on the quantity. Overall a great place to enjoy food from.

The expansion seem to do well for the chain. Love the chat selections. Their lunch and dinner menu has been good as well. Don't go for anything Chinese. I like their lunch combos except when its got Chinese. Good service, reasonable pricing and nice ambience. Sweets and savouries are good as well.
Pav Bajji....very good tatse

Gupta Bhavan Velachery outlet ✓✓
I am going to all the outlets of Sree Gupta Bhavan in chennai !!
This outlet is at prime location, i tried chinese cum north indian thaali this time which includes manchurian, fried rice , Raita , Tandoori Roti, Papad, one veg sabzi and salad.
Thali is a must try here , although other snacks items are also good.
#thankyouGuptaji #beingNorthIndian
Good place to hav dinner with family. Food is good in quality as well as quantity. Taste is too good. Nd price is affordable. Service is satisfactory
Good place for North Indian and south indian tiffin dishes.
Ghar ki thali is a good one to eat.
Its value for money. 4 Rotis 3 subzi raitha sweet papad and rice. It will definitely satisfy once hunger. Quality and taste of the food is Good.
Best place to have chat items. Bhel poori and paani poori are awesome. Tandoori mushroom and 7 tastr uthappam was ok not so great. Slow service, Over all experience is good.
Here are the things we ordered
Butter naan
Kadai paneer
Kofta
Dahi papdi
Everything tasted delicious. Must try for all the vegetarians
The staff is courteous and price is reasonable also.
The place is very clean even though there is a rush of crowd. So kudos to that
Quick Review: Great choice for North Indian food lovers and chaat enthusiasts.
Detailed Review:
Location: It is located on the 100 feet road near Phoenix Market City. Parking is easily available for 2 wheeler and for 4 wheeler the security guys usually arrange them for you.
Ambience: The place has two floors, the ground floor is for self-service and the upper floor is the restaurant. The place is quite neat and clean and looks every bit a typical north Indian restaurant. There are lots of tables and at peak times you may have to stand a while to gain your entry. We went to have dinner on a Friday evening and it was jam packed though we were lucky enough to find seats for the two of us very quickly.
Service : The service is not that great and I don't actually blame them as the place is quite crowded and the staff strength is limited. It took a long time for the waiter to give us the menu and even longer time to take the order. Though the food arrived pretty quickly, it took an extraordinary long time for them to bring the bill and collect the payment.
Food & Drinks: My wife tried their Combo thali-Indian & Chinese (tried my best to convince her to take the authentic North Indian thali but in vain ). I tried their Raj Kachori. I have always been a big fan of Raj Kachori but you can't find that in most of the chat shops. They would have everything except the Raj Kachori,. Over here they did have it and it was fantastic. The combo thali was okish. Overall the food was pretty average but the chats were fantastico. The pricing is not too exorbitant and not too cheap too but pretty reasonable. Overall a great place for North Indian food lovers and vegetarians.
Edit: I went to this restaurant again later as it is very near to my place. This time we ordered butter rotis and paneer butter masala. The pics are of the same.

awesome. after long time ate typical North indian taste kachori. wid chatni. sply sweet one hard to get from any other shop.
Have visited this place multiple times.
Good place to have Chaat/North Indian.👌✅
The 7 taste uthapam, aloo paratha, paneer bhurji and lassi are selectively my family's favorite!
good but quantity very less
We gave tip to the rider and rider mentioned he haven’t received it.
Bill is not sent with food...It should be sent for any reason we have..
delivery was good subzi was not good
It's a very good place for chats if you want an authentic North Indian experience. Pani poori was best there with a very original taste. And panner pav bhaji was also good.
can increase the quantity
Nice, family friendly place. It is perfect for those days when we are craving some decent veg food and don't want to venture too far away. The chaats are pretty decent (this being chennai after all). The paneer items are quite good. I must make a special mention of the rasmalai. That is a perfect ending to any meal
taste was good as always.
The delivery was ahead of the expected time. The food was great as usual. I'd said I didn't want any cutlery, but was provided anyway. Maybe eliminating use of unnecessary plastics would help.
Hi All,
Yesterday we visited sree Gupta bhavan for having our lunch. It was first time when we went for lunch. First I would say about ambience. It's nice. You can have your lunch comfortably and with relaxation.
Firstly, we ordered rajkachori and samosa. Rajkachori was really delicious. I had first time. I liked it. It's kind of a big puri with all items of BHEL. So you can imagine how it would be. Yummy😋 .
Then we ordered our lunch so this time me and my husband thought to have thali. So we ordered Dilkhush thali. It was super. Paneer, dalmakhani, mix curry, 1 Naan, 1 parotas, papad, sweet, pulav, salid, curd and pickle was there. So it was full of with all flavours. it was complete lunch. Taste was also nice.
I would recommend to visit there.
Do try their ghar ki thali for lunch..worth the pricing and good quality. I liked their paneer butter masala. Ambience is OK. Staff are friendly. Lassi could be better.
1.Ordered dahi papdi chat through swiggy.
The packing was good-no leaks.
The taste was good.
But I won't say that it is value for money as it costs more than the usual.
2.Ordered kesar basundi. It was real good.
3.Ordered combo thali.
The packing was neat.
It had fried rice,roti,gobi manjuri,paneer
dish,raita,papad and pickle.
The fried was bit dry,it was not that good.
The roti, gobi manjuri and paneer dish were really good.
The raita was also good.
4.Ordered paneer butter masala.
It was neither too sweet nor spicy.
It had five big chunks of soft fresh paneer.
It was neither good nor bad.
The quantity was very low for the price.
Will I buy from this place again? YESSSSS
I can’t count the number of times I had from here!
The food is absolutely amazing! It’s filling, tasty and pocket friendly.
There are 3 varieties of the thali the Indo- Chinese, the Dil khush thali and their Ghar Ki thali.
I love all the 3, my personal favorite is Ghar Ki thali.
( it consists of dal, Raita, papad, pickle, mix veg curry and one paneer curry, with some pulav and Phulkas)
The Dil khush one is quite heavy but it’s very tasty.
Overall I just love the food.
Recently they have been not taking their packing seriously, as last couple of times I ordered, some of the curry is always spilled by the time I open it.
But apart from that! It’s a bang on place for good and pocket friendly food.
Taste - 5/5
Price - 4/5
Packaging - 3/5
Flavour of the North drips from their ever so sumptuous Chole Bhature and the wide collection of sweets.
Unfortunately, every northie's weakness, Golgappas, weren't up to the mark.
Decently fast service, delicious food and not too heavy on the pocket, this place is a must try.
One of the best North Indian Veg Restaurant in Chennai.
Ambience is good enough to peacefully go and enjoy the great food they serve.
Service is top notch. Anything you order comes to your plate well before you get irritated.
Food : Must Try 'Ghar Ki Thali' , Schezwan Fried Rice, Masala Puri. Even the Tea they serve is really good. Everytime I have had Ghar Ki Thali from close to 2 years now, the taste hasn't changed a bit.
Ordered Pani Puri, Papdi Chat, Ras malai and spongy Rasgulla. Everything was perfect in taste - proper north indian taste. Also tasted a few sweets like cham cham which was nothing less than what we get in Haldirams and Bikaner. It is a must place to visit for every North Indian starving for that chatpatta taste . The ambience and hygiene can be rated 4 but the taste takes it all..
Good place and yummy food . Love the chats esspecially , North Indian food is really good . But I some how feel the price is bit high , overall a good place for a family eve.
Went on weekday evening . Ordered cholay bature & samosa chenna. Both tasted good.
The ambience was awesome. Also tasted basundhi & sweet peda, those were my favorites as they were rich in taste.
Tried hyd handi Briyani, mushroom takatak, gobi Manchurian dry, aloo Paratha, idly with sweet curd for kid.
Briyani - below average as the masala was not blended. Quantity was good. It was served 🔥. Briyani in colorful pot is an added attraction.
Mushroom takatak - u give me 🍄 in any form I love it and this takatak made me order and it is fatafat.
Rest two dishes was hubby's fav and he liked it.
For the desert we ordered rasamalai and gulab jamun with ice cream. Both were nice but still there is something lacking.
Overall decent North Indian & south Indian cuisine.
This place never disappoint me with the taste a good north indian restaurant...
Panneer dhaniya adraki a sold cravy with all coriander flavoured
Next a spicy mushroom tikka taste yum
The dislike part was v waited 20 min and got a table and took another 10 min to get the order done and the food arrived more than 30 min .. so a lot of time wasted in..
Best place for chaat & north indian food.
Punjabi paneer masala is a must try. We also ordered crispy corn and this guy really knows what crispy means (had bad experience with crispy corns @othe places)
Ask for crispy tandoori roti...
We have been here multiple times and didn't like the thali. Would recommend a-la-carte.
Ordered ghar Ka thaali. Boy the packaging gave you a royal feel. Food was excellent too. Neat tray packing making it ideal for corporate lunches. Many dishes with small quantity. But at the end of the thali you would be full enough. Other restaurants should learn a thing or two from the packaging.
This place serves authentic North Indian chaat. You won't be disappointed when you order anything on the menu. It's a place only good for food. Apart from food nothing pulls you back there.
Good Ambience.
Found car parking without any issues just outside the restaurant.
Chaat items (Sev Poori & Masala Poori) turned out very spicy.
Tandoori Roti & Veg Noodles tasted good. Dal Makhani was the show stealer as it tasted amazing.
Overall portion size for all the items ( chaat, dal, noodles) is less for the price being charged.
Evening chola bhatura made me to check in here!!
We ordered chola bhatura and pav bhaji.. Both were awesome!!
North Indian style is purely enjoyed here!! Chole and bhaji both were very tasty and yummy!! U get two big pieces of bhaturas to attack on!! Loved it :-* :-*
Good ambience and set-up, though it feels quite crowded.
Pretty decent food. The panneer kebab was done very well, and the garlic and butter naan were exceptional.
Prices are not cheap, but are sure reasonable.
SGB - My first visit to this place. Was there around 5 pm, so ordered some chat.
Bhel Puri - was okay. To be precise it was very average. Couldn’t get the real Bhel puri feel, i know the taste differs from one shop to another but for me not upto the mark.
Pani Puri - Yeah the saviour of the day. After a little disappointment from Bhel Puri, Pani puri saved the day. The aaloo and mix were perfect. The taste was top. Full marks.
The service was fast. The place is spacious. Very nice ambiance. Guess the price is reasonable. Will visit again to taste the rest. Ciao!
Dil Khush thali is a must have there!!!! It's finger licking... Other must haves are their fried dhoklas and chat items. We usually visit the place once a month to relish some authentic flavour of North India..
Good meal option. Good chats and other snacks. Some good marwari vegetarian food. If you are a vegetarian you should give it a try. Good ambience, service and it's cheaper than you think.
A great to place have a quality food even its quite late in the night . they kinda hold up till 11 PM i think. That's something really good. tried Idly and a Thali combo and ordered Naan separately .
The food tasted heavenly. will certainly hang out again .
One of the best place to have North Indian food in Chennai. Most of the paneer curry are good here but a dish with of combination of paneer and coriander is the best
This is a really nice vegetarian place across the street from the Turaya Hotel on the busy OMR highway.
The service could be better but they make up in good food and reasonable prices. I also liked the variety of choices from traditional South Indian to Chinese.
The ambiance is nice and pleasing and the place is generally clean.
Recommend
Restaurant is located in Velachery, Ambience is very good.Service is fine.Chat items(Pani Poori), Samosa was tasty.Cost wise it's on higher side.Masala Tea is good option along with evening snacks
Arguably the best restaurant to have Delhi style Chole Bhature, Dahi Papdi Chat and Raj Kachori. All these items were filling, mouth watering and sumptuous. Paneer Hilltop was the best to have the softest Tandoori style Paneer served hot. In sweets we must try their Kala Jamun, Rasogolla and Doda Barfi . In all a complete family veg restaurant. Service on a weekday was slow as adequate persons were not there.
Must Try :
1. Chole Bhature
2. Dil Khush Thali
3. Raj Kachori / Dahi Papdi Chat
Best place to have full veg meal if you are two people I recommend take only one dilkhush thali that will enough for two people for sure and must try jilebi and pav-bhaji
Nice ambience with beautiful decor. Offers wide variety of North Indian snack items and fine dining. Authentic North Indian cuisine available.
I tasted Dahi Puri and papri chat with ginger tea. All were delicious. Reasonably priced .
Overall had a nice experience.
Very good veg restaurant area with pleasant panoramic view of 100 ft road
The taste is authentic North Indian
I tried Ghar ki thali and for 300 bucks it is worth every penny
Also paneer parantha is tasty and tender
Recommended for veg lovers
All time fav place for chats...
Must try 💯
They have wide range of different sweet varieties which is also a must try one...
Bit costly but worth the money 💪
We tried in Gupta Bhavan Velachery
Good North Indian dishes to try out, also got a variety of dosa's , we tried pav bhaji dosa it was good with a lot of cheese. The starters we tried were good ( quality, quantity and taste)
Also there is sweets and savouries available, that too with good varieties
One drawback or to keep in mind when you plan to try is car parking. There is car parking but not a proper one. If you have a place to park, then valet parking is available
A good place to go with family. At the ground floor there is sweets and snacks shop. The restaurant is at first floor with lift facility, ample space, separate toilet facility for ladies and gents.
There is parking space for appx eight cars in front of the shop.
Good atmosphere with courteous staff.
Nice place to dine.
Service is very good.
Food was served hot and upon our requested style.
North Indian food in south india very good food specially Ghar ki Thali
If you love North
Indian style then its a good place.. chat and sweets available.. well maintained and hygienic..
Special Rakshabandhan ghevar are available here through out the month of August. Well the reason I mention this is because this sweet is rarely sold in southern Indian as it is a very seasonal and region specific sweet. Very North Indian taste to most of the food prepared and I think they do not use any onion and garlic. Jain/pure vegetarians (but not limited to) could try this place out. Place is clean and food is good. I was very impressed by the papadi they gave in the chat. It does not get soggy and yet is soft and crunchy when you bite it. Overall if you are looking for a place to have North Indian food with authentic taste, go for it.
Not bad at all! Tasty savouries and delicious sweets.
The place is clean and well appointed. The staff are friendly and approachable.
They've got a small dine in area where you eat freshly served chat items.
It was very nice dining experience..food was tasty nd got served in just 7-8 mins...nice ambience..always prefer to go there...however a bit pricey but overall experience make it quite worth
