Cake walk originated here and then went to Nungambakkam as well. All birthday parties at home are celebrated with a cake walk and their quality and taste is never compromised. The have car parking for two cars and for an evening snack, this place is a big thumbs up.
Order chocolate cake here for my frnds bday and it was so yummy . The prize is reasonable and the butter cream ratio is also good . Soft cake and yummy filling as well . Tried the donut as well and it was awesome.
This bakery serves so far the best cakes in town. Ordered Chocolate Truffle and Red Velvet. Both of them were amazing. They have some different flavours like Red velvet chocolate, Turkish Delight etc., which caught my eyes. The macaroons were good too. Itโs slightly on the higher side, but the cakes never disappoint.

Cake Walk is excellent quality for an affordable price. Their desserts and bakes are fresh and delicious. I'm a big fan of the selection of savory pies and puffs they have. You can select it, put it on a tray and hand it over to the cashier and you're all set to go. The chicken puff is out of this world!
The blueberry muffins and delicious as well. All their cakes are good and and are definitely all fine quality desserts. The chocolate truffle and mousses are my favorite. A great place to order from for a party.

This cake shop in montieth road is easily spotted. Their cakes are really good. Chocolate truffle , butter scotch , white forest are top notch . This is my regular place to order cake for all celebrations.ย
But please refrain from ordering their red velvet cake. It is so very fake and they mix some essence to it which makes the taste bad. Also, the way they charge you for home delivery is so bad, that it is per kg basis. If the cake has to be delivered next street and you order 5 kg cake. They charge you 5 kg * Rs.150 = Rs.750 - as delivery charge. I am not sure whether they will bring each kg separately and assemble at your place.
The prices of cakes are on little higher side but they are worth the price.

One of the good place for birthday cakes.. u can customize them as u needed it.. the cake tastes good. My fav is choco truffle. But for each deaign caje they charge 30% of the cake price which is not case compared to other cake shops.
Just next to office and at a very easy to locate street in Egmore, Cake Walk, helps you to sweeten your day with impeccable savoury and desserts.

I am a big fan of cakewalk. Especially their chocolate truffle cake: Sinful and chocolaty, makes me fall in love with it every single time.
After a long spell of healthy eating: salads, veggies and no sugar, I suddenly started craving for my long lost love: truffle cake. So off I went to cake walk and there it was, sitting in all its glory waiting to be devoured. Just when I was about to place my order, my sight wandered and landed on the gooey chocolate cake in the adjacent counter.
And what a revelation it was. True to the name, the cake was gooey, dense, sinfully sweet and perfect. Just what I was looking for. It's a bit pricy at Rs. 150. But well worth it. I asked for it to be warmed in the microwave before packing, but it was quite cold when I opened after 2 minutes.
Also picked up a blueberry muffin (Rs. 50). It was mildly sweet with just a small swirl of blueberry on top. The rest of the muffin was just plain.
One of my go-to places for good quality cakes. Never disappoints!

This particular outlet is right near my dad's office. So most of our birthday cakes were always from here. Their chocolate truffle is way too good.

The ambiance is really fancy for a cake shop that focuses on delivery and pick ups. It's self service, which could be considered both positive as well as negative.
They have space for about three car parks which is sufficient for this place.
I really really love cake walk simply because of their perfection in every single thing they serve. My favourite though among all of them is the rainbow cake - really think it's the best in Chennai. Since I have a big sweet tooth this cake is exactly what I needed. It is extremely sweet and the layering of the cake is done to perfection. Would definitely recommend this to a friend if he/she would like to taste rainbow cake.
Being a butterscotch fan, my wife ordered a bday cake for me long back. The cake was fresh soft and very tasty. Other bakes were pretty decent.

After treating myself with some yummy sandwiches at alsa mall, I was craving for some desserts so I went here. Ordered the black forest pasrty and some more pastries. They were nice and soft. Didn't seem fresh but tasted good. There's a small seating too.
The best egg less cakes in the city... I am a die hard fan of theirย Egg less Black Current, Strawberry and Chocolate Truffle.

They try with the savories but its not quite right. The chicken roll is overpriced for what they offer and the quiche had an under-cooked base the one time I took it home. ย

Just went for an official meet up here. But couldn't resist myself from trying out the choco walnut brownie. You can never get a delicious brownie anywhere else. Felt the cooling effect was bit low since we ended up staying there for a long time. But in this hot temperature you cant blame the cafe.
Ordered a Vanilla cake for a birthday party. I got the cake within ten minutes and it was fresh and creamy.ย

The best butterscotch cake in town and I have tried it out in many places including the cake walk in sterling road but nothing is as good as this. Also they have the freshest bread that make a great sandwich. Apart from this, each variety of cake is a treat in itself. Make a great birthday/anniversary surprise.

Birthdays, reunions, weddings.. All our cakes have always come from cake walk from as long as I can remember. This particular outlet has been in egmore since the 90's and is my family's favorite. Their ambience is quiet neat and simple. My personal favorites are, ferrero Rocher cake, chocolate donuts, chocolate truffle cake and choco-almond cake. Their chicken puff and rolls are quiet filling and taste good too. Half a kg of the chocolate truffle costs around 375 bucks, which is quiet reasonable. Their puffs and other savories are priced between 60-120 bucks, again quiet reasonable.
Yummmmmmmmmiest. Mouth watering cakes u get here. My all time favo.is the chocolate truffle cake. Very yummy. Its a must place to try. We mostly order bday cakes from here only. They keep up their quality. ๐

The Cake Walk at Nungambakkam has become my second favourite dessert haunt, after Ecstasy of course. So I wanted to try this place out.
The ambience is pretty good, with a seating capacity of around thirty five. We went for their Apple pie, Tiramisu and Black Forest pastry. The pie tasted okay, the lack in cinnamon very much apparent. The Tiramisu could have been better, and the pastry was amazing. It did not crumble as I scooped away, and that's a good sign.
I have heard that they are known for their red velvet pastry. So I would go here again, but the other branch is so much better overall.

I wonder why Google Maps tells you that this place is closed. As Zomato and Google were telling me two different things, I decided to check for myself. This place is pretty much open for business.ย
Wooden interiors with enough seating space for about 30 people. A lot larger than other cake shops that I've seen. I don't know why I had some good expectations from this place (maybe because they are not some large retail chain with mediocre branches in every alternate road).ย
They have enough space to park a few cars and numerous bikes right in front. And they seemed to have a lot of staff (considering that this was only a cake shop - which did serve some snacks).ย
Flipping through their menu, I noticed that they only deal with fresh cream cakes and not fondants.ย
I had to get a half a kilo cake - preferably a non-chocolate one. However, they did not have any that were readily available and I did not have the time to wait (though they told me that it only takes them one hour to make a fresh one).ย
Coz I did not get what I was looking for, I decided to buy five different pastries - and get the birthday girl to cut it like a regular cake. Would cost the same - but, hey, I'm gonna be tasting a lot more varieties!ย
So, I chose a Strawberry crush, a Blackcurrent pastry, a chocolate fudge, a red velvet and a lychee rose.ย
How they tasted : The Strawberry was a little too sweet (especially the jam kind of icing); the choco fudge was regular; the Black current was pretty decent; they scored the most on the red velvet - very impressive) and the lychee rose would be a no-buy (just no taste of the lychee and a little too much rose essense).ย
How they were packed : So, my 5 pastries traveled a few kilometers by share auto and took a half an hour bus ride to reach home - and to my surprise, they were in perfect shape at the end of this whole ordeal. Pretty thick cardboard boxes and a neat transparent plastic wrapping ensured that they did not stick to each other and they stood perfectly.ย
Cost : Inclusive of taxes - these sweet delights costs 450 INR. Average pricing.ย
Bottomline : They have such a large variety - it serves pretty much every taste bud. And their service time is fast as well.ย
PS: I've never been put in such an embarrassing situation before. But, one of the people behind the counter stopped me while taking photos and asked me why I was doing so. I replied back that it was for Zomato. He din't quite catch me and I had to repeat it again. And then he said, we don't allow photos. Please ask us before you take any. Well, a question - to the more senior food bloggers out here - do you guys ask permission before you start clicking away?

Their snacks like puffs, sandwiches , pizza etc are also good and they sell out faster than the yummy cakes . They also make cakes for functions like birthdays , marriage and other functions, based on prior orders. Their service is always good . Excellent cakes by far ever had. Been visiting cake walk since I was a toddler. Totally worth the price... Also their burgers, salads and sandwiches are worth talking about. Having said that, while I am seated here waiting for my order, I notice the manager (I guess) who picks up calls and takes in orders from customers, happens to be talking to his customers in the most unfriendly manner. Hmmm so much for customwe service and "Telephone etiquette". With the already amazing existing clientele they have, I am sure they can add on and keep adding on if they would use some smiles and a good attitude in person and on calls. Cheers to Cake walk! This is without doubt, one of the best bakeries in Chennai. I would go so far as to say that discounting obvious top hotels and restaurants which serve some delectable fare, this is *THE BEST* standalone bakery in Chennai for their addictive cakes.
The Besant Nagar branch has limited seating (about ten tables seating 2 or 4 each), which can be problematic on some evenings on weekends or other festivities.The Air Conditioning is almost always just right for the weather as I don't recollect having either warm or cool on the many visits I have made.

You can order your cakes through phone and if you are feeling shy to say 'Write Happy birthday bumbullatti on the cake' - well, DONT! Hostelers and college kids in and around the area so frequently order cakes with funny captions on them so its just normal if the guy answering the phone corrects you if you spell bumbulatti wrong!

This is the pineapple ๐ flavour which is dominant flavour of all in the cake walk shop. You must definitely try this out. No one can will say no to it. Not too sweet but precise. And the chocolate layer on top of that gives a contrasting colour to match the subtle yellow layer. MUST TRY !!!!!
