Nice place to get all Bengali foods for people staying in Chennai. Though the sitting capacity is less but the food quality is good.you will get good food varieties and during festivals or occassions they serve some special dishes as well..
Been looking for quite some time, I came across Petuk to satisfy the bangali soul in me. Last evening walked into this place and ordered luchi, chicken korma and aam chatni to relish on. The chicken pieces were satisfying and juicy, cooked to perfection. The luchi is always good. Last but not the least, the aam chatni was the cherry on the cake (looking for more aam in it the next time). This place is going to be my go-to whenever I want bengali home food.
Authentic Bengali food. However, price is little on the higher side and the food options are very limited. Must try for the foody bengalis....
Food is good but nowadays didn't get the order of expected quality. Still it's really good.Guys, could you plz start home delivery in avin area if possible?
Only one in the area with proper authentic bengali food. Its a small place and takes a little bit of time to get the food. Leaving this two out, everything else is just perfect.
This is definitely home away from home...
Not so oily food.. Get touch of home made bengali food... Mach bhat s a must try for bengalis in Chennai since u don't get much bhaat often... I use to go here often.... May betwicea month to satisfy mah taste buds.. Love t... Always.. Though this brunch doesnt have that much varieties like the thiruvanmiyur one
The shop is doing really well. The place is small but you definitely don't have to compromise with the food. They serve really simple Bengali foods. The quality is good. The food will definitely give you a strong homely feeling. The service is fast and management is really good.
Tried one Rui mach and Rice. The fish in itself was fresh and tasty and so was the preparation with onions! The ambience and service were fine and clean unlike most other Bengali restaurants over here. Best stop for a Bengali 'Petuk' in Chennai 😉
Food rate is reasonable.
You have only a few tables here.
It's a bengali restaurant.
We tried chicken curry - 4.7/5
Paturi , that's mustard fish - 4/5
Aloo sabzi and rice .
Overall experience was great.
Aahhh!! A rarity in Chennai which serves Bengali food!! Small outlet in omr food street (heard their other outlet was larger). Food was fair for my liking, my Bengali friend loved it. Unfortunately, they didn't have rasagullas on that day and we couldn't try it!
It's a great place to have Kolkata style food..once I had biriyani ...it's awesome..rate is little high..but test is good... weakly once we can afford the rate not daily...
Are you Bengali?? Staying in Chennai....surrounded by Idli Dosha n Curd rice...
Satisfy your tastebuds with delicious bengali cuisine served in Petuk...
Petuk only 1 line
You are keeping bengalis alive in Chennai...
It is a heaven for Bengalis and a home for me in Chennai. When your taste bud is about to die with south indian food, you should definitely have a visit to this place. We usually visit this on every week. Well you will get exact Kolkata biriyani here with the same taste and sane essence. Fishes they prepare are all fresh and they bring it directly from Kolkata. They have different side dish options everyday. Almost tried everything there starting from aloo posto, dhokar dalna, mug daal, cholar daal, luchi, aloo vaja, chicken curry, mutton curry, parse, rui, chingri malaikari and also chatni. Also the snacks they provide ie, moghlai, fish finger those are mouth watering. The navallur outler is little better than the other one. On weekends you will get sweets like rosogolla, malpoa etc. Only a proper bengali will understand how it feels to have a bengali restaurant in Chennai. Good luck to you Petuk people, you are really doing a great job. Sohini Datta
Let's just say it's rare to come across a regional cuisine that leaves you truly feeling at home. This one does! It takes you back to the Durga Pujo bhogs of yore and you find yourself licking your fingers at the end of every course. Yes, they could up their game sharply but for their prices, you're blessed to have them around! Must tries: chutney, papad, moong Dal, rice, fish, Hell, just try everything in the menu and leave with no regrets!
All the bongs in chennai, if you are missing home this is the right place to give you that "homely" feel. Where you get fish fry, tomato chutney, daal all the bong style.
Great place to go with family.
The best Bengali style biriyani in Chennai and the ambiance is also very Good...feels like I'm back in Bengal again ..chingri ma6er malaikari is also ❤️❤️
Petuk is a very famous bengali joint present in major cities.
Serves bengali cuisines like cutlet, jhol, ghanta, postok
Genuine taste as always, priced fair and decent, service ok
Tried chicken jhol, fish cutlet and rice.
Cutlet didn't meet my expectation , chicken jhol and rice was very good.
I am just in love with the food. It's like Tasty homemade food. Very decent staff. Every time i eat here i feel happy . Want Bengali food visit this place.
Delhi give her tea was awesome.. neat packaging. Prompt delivery.. Cheese masala omellete and Veg sandwich we're tasty too.. perfect breakfast wen u don't want to cook but want sumptuous food.. loved their packaging too.. Thank u.. pls don't stop delivery to Padur..
Very good homestyle bengali food. Was pleasantly surprised at the taste and quality. The chicken curry and shukto was very good. However not a place for ambience.
The food is very good and it is very pocket friendly. We ordered fish paturi and kosha mangsho. One of the few places in Chennai where you can find bengali food.
Bengali food in Chennai is heaven..
I went to this place 2days ago for dinner.. I was amazed to see such Bengali restaurant in Chennai..

Nothing excellent. They serve Bengali food, that's all. As a foodie Bengali, I cherish Bong food over most dishes, but didn't enjoy it that much.
A bengalee is all about their cuisine.. Nd being in a foreign land they will always search fr a place which serves authentic bengalee cuisine.. Petuk is just that type of restro.. Only con is the place is small with no a/c in Chennai heat. The food is too good.. Try their bhetki paturi.. Nd Kolkata style biryani.. Yumm..!
The taste of authentic bengali in Navallur Chennai at such a less price is a delight. The food is delicious. You would feel like home, if you are a bengali.. The staff is very friendly and happy to serve , bit the problem is the resturant doesn't have an AC and is very difficult in the hot summer days.
As a Bengali living in Chennai, the occasional cravings for "badi'r khabar" hit hard. One such night, I wound up in Petuk, seeking comfort in the food I've grown up with.
Ordered the classic Shorshe Maach, which is fish cooked in a mustard gravy. The fish came as a whole along with steamed rice.
The taste was great and nostalgic, with the sharpness of the mustard complementing the soft fish. I am definitely going to come back to try the rest of their menu which, I believe, keeps changing.
The only drawback is the limited seating and problems with maintenance. The day I went, the tap in the wash basin was not working and we had to wash our hands with bottled water. These things really shouldn't be happening, since they take away from the good food.
Steamed Rice quantity good at the price.
Paturi fish was yummy as usual. The rich mustard flavours serenade your tastebuds :-)
Chicken kosha - thick gravy was tasty as usual but the chicken pieces were hard and chewy, overcooked maybe?
bhola vetki - fish in mustard gravy tasted good but the gravy was too watery.
Rotis were not freshly made.
Better quality in the main Petuk branch.
Total bill was around Rs 410. My friend and I were quite stuffed.
Definitely value for money.
A great place for the Bengali's in Chennai... Food turned out to be better than my expectation and is student pocket friendly. They don't have a fixed menu but some of the dishes remain constant.
Liked the ambience and the food. Will visit again...
Petuk is home away from home for every bong staying in Chennai! From Satyajit Ray on the walls to Bhetki paturi on your plates, they just somehow make you nostalgic. Do try aloo poshto and luchi there. I like the fish they serve. They also are the only place in Chennai that serves nice Kolkata biriyani. The chicken kosha was not that good though. They keep changing their menu, so do inquire before going. Overall, if you are a bong who is suffering in Chennai, you might find momentary relief here! :D
Had a hesitation initially as I was not aware of Bengali recipes much. But it was a good experience overall. Fish cutlets and Fish fingers tasted really good. Mango chutney was awesome too.
Overall a good place to go for some tasty recipes.
Petuk is one of the best bengali restaurants in Chennai.. paturi can be a must try anyday .. if you are craving for bengali style biriyani, petuk's weekend menu can satisfy your hunger..
Being a Bengali I love to eat Bengali Food. So after doing lot of research I found out this Bengali Restaurant. The ambience is average. But trust me it will not diminish the taste of food by any means.I ordered Rice and aloo posto the authentic Bengali food. Then we ordered Katla Fish and Vatki Fish and Mutton Kosha. At the end we had Misti Dahi (Doi) and chatni to finish things of.
Now talking about the taste of the fish, it was mind blowing and it was of the kind which is prepared in the houses in West Bengal.Frankly speaking its worth the money.
Ambience-2/5
Food-4.5/5
Cost-4/5
This type of food is the home turf: Bengali cuisine, and delicacies reminiscent of memories. To find it back again on OMR Road was a delight, and it needs to be known.
Set up near HCL, the decor reminds you of a dining room, adding to the ever-present home vibe. This one offers the choicest delights: aloo posto, beguni, maach(be early to get your favourites, though), and maangsho! The tarkaris are also nice, and the moghlai porotha is just sensational.
For the flavours of grandma's kitchen, in the midst of south Indian inflluences, I give a big salute. You guys are great!!
Petuk has recently opened up in Navalur OMR food street, which is a boon, since i don't have to spend an hour travelling to the Kandanchavadi outlet.
As usual the food is tasty and i would recommend the chicken kasha, mutton kasha, prawn malaikari, paturi, green veg sabzi.
Chicken mughlai is a chicken stuffed paratha which has been fried, and it is quite filling for one person.
Paturi is steamed fish fillet, topped with loads of mustard chutney. This is a must try since it is fresh steamed dish. Green veg sabzi has brinjals, potato, beans mixed with some minced fish, which is quite tasty.
FYI - Luchi is available only on saturdays and sundays, and get over pretty soon.
They have introduced sweets i.e. payesh and rasgulla, and its available only over the weeked. Payesh is similar to kheer, but was too sweet for my liking. Also, the menu changes everyday.
Overall, this place is a crowd favorite, and is mostly crowded, you might have to wait to get table since it has a limited seating arrangement.
Bengali/Kolkata food was completely new to me. Tried their Fish Cutlets at ₹70/- which were super crispy and tasty. I’d take a pass at the Aloo Posto Bhaja at ₹40/– since I’d prefer a South Indian poriyal over this.
Many better places to check out rather, only for ones with cuisine preference.
The name Petuk for me now rings a bell reminding of the Bengali Food served by the restaurant by the same name in Chennai. I have never been able to try that. Bengali food for me is very nostalgic as I have had a lot of it, with a close family friends and neighbour being Bengali with whom we had been sharing a lot of special food.
Also my mom hails from a place that is very near to Bengal, so she can speak the language and cook that food.
When I saw that Petuk has a branch here, I was thrilled. We were on a food trail and I was not gonna miss it for anything.
Before I could see the menu, my friend was quick enough to place some orders there.
We had a few portions of the Fish Cutlet and Aloo Posto Bhaja. The cutlet was pretty huge portion than what we see usually. Tastewise was good. The aloo, my all time favourite was quite nice. Wish we had ordered some luchi (puris) with it.
The food definitely is Bengali style and very simple and nice.
The cost for these was Rs 345, which is fine, I think.
I've been to one of their branches in Perungudi and totally loved it there. They are well known for the delicious Bengali dishes are that cooked in a homely style.
We were on a food trail in OMR food Street, and visited this kiosk. We tried the fish cutlet and Aloo posto bhaja from here.
The fish cutlet was delicious. It was stuffed with minced fish blended with some spices on the inside and was crispy outside. Aloo bhaja was spicy and fried to perfection.
The bill amount came was Rs 345.

🙌Petuk specialises in serving Bengali food. Got to try this place during a foodie meet up in the food street. ✨
☺️We got the aloo posto bhaja (₹40)and fish cutlets (₹70). 💰
✨The aloo had a really nice subtle spicy flavour and was fried to light golden brown. 🥔🐟The fish cutlet was fresh and crisp on the outside. It was served with onions and crisps.🍥
The food was simple yet delicious. 💕 This costed around ₹345. 💰 Pricing is very economical. Definitely a good place to try out a new cuisine! 🥘
Petuk specializes in Bengali food.
Here we decided to go with fish cutlets and aloo bhaja.
The fish cutlets were Crispy and fresh but lacked that oommph. The aloo bhaja was spiced to perfection and was delicious.
The bill came up to 350 rupees.
Amazingly simple food with excellent options. If you are fan of good bengali food or sea food, this place is a must visit. Try Mutton Kasha, Deviled eggs and Fish paturi. Vegetarians must try their dal.
