Dishes wr yummy!!! Gobi dry & Dragon chicken wr yummy n starters
I loved the Naatu kozhi soup.. Naatu kozhi fry... And Naatu kozhi biriyani along with the netli fish fry.. A very neat and awesome place for lunch :) 5 out of 5
Yummy tamilnadu style food there.. most favourite is mutton chukka :) and biriyani
Good joint for tamil non veg dishes. Loved the decor
Ordered Dragon chicken and mutton biriyani & mutton kothu parota. Worth for the amount. Mutton kothu parota on top. But biriyani served in low temperature.
Ordered natu kozhi soup, nonveg meals, crab pepper fry, idicha natukoli, prawns fry, fish tawa fry and finally elaneer payasam.all the dishes were perfect native tastes.
Had a good lunch with family....
everyone enjoyed with the food and service, whoever likes native style food, try manveedu restaurant....
This is my all time fav family restaurant for more than 2 years. Though am a vegetarian, i love their veggie foods.
So last sunday we went there and we ordered
1. Panagam - which were soo tasty
2. Appam and Coconut milk - Mouthlicking
3. Chinna vengaya Poondu Kulambu with White rice - Extraordinarily tasty one and we even used this kulambu for appam
4. Madurai Nattu Kozhi idichathu - the one for my husband sply where he loved it and wanted more again.
5. Nethilli Porichathu
6. Ilaneer Payasam -Must try here.
Value for the money you pay and there is no GST added to your bill.
One of the finest chettinad cuisine.. All the dishes tastes good. Worth to visit again
Excellent place for traditional food! Spices are perfect. Fav - mutton kothu parota , madurai naatu kozhi , pepper crab. Must try for non veg lovers.
I absolutely fell in love with the Ambience of Munveedu. Calm, Peaceful place for romantic candle light dinner with mild Tamil songs played behind.
The staffs were polite.
We had Aattu kal soup which tasted delicious.
Chilly chicken was well cooked and parotta , chicken chettinad perfectly matched.
Worth the money! Kudos to the Quality of food!
I will recommend this place for sure!
Mun Veedu had a decent and calm ambience!
Aatu kaal soup was perfectly traditional, tasted good.
Mutton Biriyani in its pure south indian style had enough number of pieces in it.
Madurai Naatu Kozhi idichadhu was so delicious and tasted more than I expected. Would recommend this dish for sure.
Prawns Thokku was not spicy which I wanted it be , instead it was a bit sweet.
On the whole, this place is perfect for a dinner with family and friends.
This doesn't come under luxury fine dining restaurant but it do comes under authentic Tamilnadu feels. The ambience is good . The food tastes good . I would recommend you to taste mutton briyani .
very good location in a quiet residential area in my own locality of Gandhi Nagar.
doesnt really come across as a luxury fine dining place but certainly lives upto its authentic Tamil Nadu feels. 9/10 for interior design especially what theyve done with the walls.
Interesting but not quite extensive menu.
the prawns biryani did not live upto my expectations however the Kizhinga Meen Fry and Kulfi pot were great. Good Service. No GST or Service charge taken.
I’ve wanted to go to this place for a while, and I did very recently. First thing you notice about this place will be the interiors. They’ve come up with a village ambience, which is actually quite nice. There’s even a bullock-cart parked outside. 😁 And if you love South Indian non-vegetarian food, you’ll love this place. The chicken chukka is a must-try! Little bit on the spicier side, but it’s great! 👍🏼 I’d definitely go back to this place again! 😊
Thali meals so good and nonveg starters are great, good place for nonveg lovers
Natukozhi dry, nethili fry, airameen kolambu, ilanir payasam all are too good .......😍😍😍
Visit - Twice- once with friends/ other with colleagues!
Ambiance, parking and staff-courtesy - ( 0.9 / 1.0 ) - Traditional as the name says! A well spaced restaurant with interiors representing Tamil Nadu culture. No complaints on parking space. Staff was polite but little slow in response.
Cost for Food - ( 0.5 / 0.5 ) - Though some may feel starters are bit overpriced, overall the pricing is quite apt for the food they serve
Starters / Soups (1.1 / 1.5) - We tried tomato soup (little watery, not so creammy) and chicken melagu rasam soup (kindof! Was so good for my cold). Followed by the soups were series of starters - Vazhapoo vada (Home made taste 😋), pepper Mushroom something! (Was best of all), Vanjaram fry (was usual good), nethili fry (Didn't suit my taste) and chicken lollipop (was above average).
Main course ( 1.2 / 1.5) - Dosa / Egg Dosa with Mutton chettinad gravy was divine 😍 (Mutton pieces were hard though)! It also went good with kadai paneer masala . Butter Naan and Garlic Naan were usual good. Didn't try anything else
Drinks (0.5 / 0.5) - Ilaneer payasam is worth the money 🤩 Few other items weren't available!
Total - 0.9 + 0.5 + 1.1 + 1.2 + 0.5 = 4.2 (~4.0)
Got take aways delivered..
this restaurant considers your customization requests.. overall good taste and service...
Prompt in delivery.. will try to visit once
Visited this place for lunch with colleagues. Mutton chukka, naatu kozhi varuval, biryani tasted divine. Ambiance was good and the restaurant was fully packed since it was Friday noon. Overall a good place to dine in to have some mouth watering south Indian food
Locality: 4/5
Ambience: 4.5/5
Food: 4/5
Service: 3/5
Value for money: 3.5/5
I had a little trouble finding the place. The restaurant is quite spacious and there was good room between the tables. The authentic munveedu setup really works and it adds flavour to your experience. We wanted to try the non-veg meals, but it wasn't available for dinner. A few starters mentioned weren't available too, so we were a bit disappointed in regards to the choice of food. In between checking for availability, and recommending us alternative dishes, the service was delayed in more than one occasion. The food was good. I felt the quantity could've been more, but it was justified for the price. Overall, we had a satisfying dinner. I'll probably come back for the non-veg meals during lunch.
When you feel like trying traditional food! This should be your must on the list and flavors and aroma pulls you for pepper they add on mutton chuka! Meals is good with sufficient quantity!
Bon appetite ;)
oily food and can reduce cost a bit
First of all the location was so peaceful and a broad road. You really get a feel of getting into a manveedu. Nice themed restuarant with each and every pieces exactly vintage.
Coming to dishes, it was awesome and so spicy. Really mouth watering dishes out here, especially my favorite is Nandu Poriyal which is shellless, you should defintely try that.
All dishes are wonderdul and definetely recommended.
This restaurant is located in Gandhi nagar, next to CCD. Amidst the hustle n bustle of the city this place is perfect for a relaxing lunch or dinner.
Quite nominal in pricing and good with portion.
Aatukal soup- Wakes up your taste buds with perfect blend of spices and super soft mutton leg.
Chicken porichathu- Had the crispiness but the flesh was not soft.
Nattu kozhi Biryani - How can u go wrong with biryani? Biryani was subtle, with mild flavour.
P. S - Try their n. v meals and elaneer payasam
Loved the setup. Exudes tranditional feel all over. Few might feel it to be little dim lit.
Excellent service. Prompt. Decent serve times. Their Vazha Poo vada is a must. Very tasty. Tried out their Chicken Kheema Rice (mentioned as their special in the menu card), but I didn't find it to be special. It was nothing more than Chicken Fried Rice with kheema pieces.
A decent experience all together.
Didn't expect meals to be so good. Non veg meals was awesome. Kaadai porichathu was equally too good.
Elaneer payasam is all time favorite.
-1 rating for the horrible water served(No other option than to buy bottled water) and the inactive captain.
Very good place, with the ambiance going perfectly well with the name of the place. The setting is typically rural, but with all modern urban comforts. I was meeting a college friend of mine after many years, him being a local took me here and did most f the ordering. I started with the Nandu Melagu Rasam or the crab meat soup. This was an excellent way to start the meal with a substantial doze of black pepper. Along with this I had a vegetarian starter which was not included in the menu but was a fry using raw plantain. For the main course I had chapatis with the mutton chettinad. The mutton was a bit chewy, but good thing being the pieces were stripped of bone. This helped in terms of quantity. The disappointment at this stage was the slow delivery of chapatis. It took a really long time for the second batch of a single one to come in. After all this I had a Panagam to wash it all up with. Its a simple but highly refreshing drink made of a jaggery base and dry ginger powder mixed in. Overall, a highly satisfactory meal and highly recommended.
quiet and simple place...
loved the ambience so much...
food was like home cooked....
hope i had gone with more space in my stomach..
worth visitone moore time...
Visited this place with my colleagues! Being a vegetarian, I went in with thoughts of having an 'OK-OK' lunch, But on the contrary everything tasted great!! The AiraMeen Saiva Kuzhambu (one where plantain flower is substituted for fish) topped the list. Excellently done (y) Nevertheless, as suggested by everyone, Ilaneer Payasam and Vazhai Poo Vadai were also good.
This is the 2nd time am visiting this restaurant after 4 years. Zameen virundhu should be the popular choice here - provided with a variety of items made a full pledged heavy meal.Vazhai poo vadai and ilaneer payasam was ecstatic among them.
Went on 23 Jan 18 dinner pre booked a table and zameen virundhu this includes welcome drink nanari sarbath, fish fry ,kadai, chicken curry, egg masala, dhal ,naan, roti, white rice, chicken biriyani, kholzhi 65,vazapoo vadai and desserts are phirnee, Vannila ice cream, gulab jamun and from ala card we chose egg dosa and chicken Chukka fish was having raw smell and not hot and for jameen virundhu we have to buy voucher from nearbuy voucher this is 399 if weekdays weekend same virundhu 499

Visited this restaurant last month. Good theme (village). We went for a team outing. Found prices to be nominal. Food was good. Vaalipu vada, Paanagram, Illaneer payasam were good
Very neat and decent place. The ambience is cosy and had a feel that we were visiting a typical munveedu.
Came with our client from US and the restaurant team could understand when we required mild spicy in all the items that were ordered.
A good experience
Wonderful dishes, perfect name and perfect theme. Pleaseful workers. Comfortable sitting. A must visitable place to enjoy u your weekend with family and friends
The person who took the order is cool and the dish came quickly as expected. The service is very good neatly maintained hotel over all good for lunch
It's awesome to taste completely new dishes. Especially nethali pori. It was amazing. Unique experience to taste authentic South Indian and malabari cuisine
Checked in on back to back days. Once took my friend who came back from Australia who expected a pucca South Indian delight. The very next day took my team of 16 people for the team lunch. One of the best places to experience the real taste of South.
Chicken chukka
Pepper chicken are the two best dishes I had here.
Ambience will be very good as well.
Note: food will be served very quickly and will be pocket friendly.
Nice ambience. Munveedu - A house made of sand! They have tried to bring a feel that way. But in some way this restaurant is posh. The food is good, but the waiting time is more. Shiv Ram
Have heard so much about this place and the waiting list for this place proves the rush and demand of the place.
Coming to the ambience its cool , food is good we tried muutton sukka &ilaneer pasayam
Staff were cool and polite. were obedient and made our day at this wonderful place.

Went ter wit a group of friends...Lovely ambience.....And d food was awesome....ayira meen kulambu...Not to be missed....Definitely hav to go again.....😋😋😍
Hospitality. Food quality taste. Are awesome.
Liked the place . Loved the place. Staff is cool. And interactive. Happy to visit again ...............
To start of with I was a bit doubtful about the Chettinad cuisine since am not a big fan of it...But the place changed my opinion of the Chettinad cuisine and all of the dishes were really yummy!!As I was a vegetarian I had opted for sweet corn veg soup....and that soup was heaven to begin with....followed by the soup was the starters since I had gone with my huge family of 11 and only 3 among us were veg where I was one among them!!!So the starters which I had ordered was paneer tikka and mushroom milagu fry both of them were really good then onto the main course..... Garlic naan was the one I ordered with paneer butter masala.... everything had a authentic Chettinad flavour added to it....Finally onto the desserts my favourite part of the dinner 😋 I ordered their authentic ellaneer payasam which was a ultimatum of sweetness and an epic to end my dinner with So I strongly suggest all the people who have a love for Chettinad cuisine to visit this place!!!!
First time to Munveedu. Very okayyyy experience. The food was decent. The quantity and pricing was reasonable. Unenthusiastic hosts. But overall a decent experience. :)
Happened to visit this restaurant as I craved for a South Indian meals. To my surprise, the meals was delicious and we loved everything. Mutton sukka was very yummy, the mutton was succulent and the masala was well cooked. Would visit this place again.
all the dishes here are a bit. traditional and nice ..the taste is so good... especially the kothu chicken parotta and chicken sukka was excellent and the dessert illaneer payasam was superb..u all should jst give it a try..
Went for lunch as a bunch of 8. Booked table thru zomato and table was very happily waiting with a reserved tag.
Amused seeing no crowd on festive day. Started with crab , chicken , tomato soups. Moved to a full tandoori chicken potato roast & valapoo vadai. Next coupl of set meals, chicken biriyani, chettinad chicken curries and naan. Illanner payasam , gulab jamuns and kulfi to wrap it up. All dishes were well balanced , well cooked and well portioned. All happy faces at A cost of 3.3K. Well priced.
Suggestions - i will not order set meals or kulfi next time. Not the best place to have these two.
But I will ask again n again for their startes, curries , generous butter naans and illaneer payasam
Peaceful and quite ambience for a mid day meal.
Don't know about the crowd in evening and weekends.
The menu is very inviting. Vegetarian ayira Meen Kuzhambu!! Substituting vazhapoo for fish. Got to try it.
Enjoyed it the simple yet authentic veg. Meal thali.
Interiors reflect the name well. Munveedu. A good experience.
Staff can ask if we needed anything in between. More hospitality wd be nice.
This was our first visit to Chennai. And I was craving a banana leaf South Indian meal.
I loved the taste and the service a lot 😊 specially loved the taste of ilaneer payasam. yummy 💙 That's really appreciated
It was Onam and we were looking for place that serves sadhya.... Since all placed were packed ended up visiting this place.... Have passed this restaurant many times but never went in....
Not much parking space but if you go early will find a place to park your car... Ambience is okay... Reminds you of houses in Karaikudi....
We we're welcomed by not so enthusiastic people but no complaints... We were a gang of 6 adults and 3 kids.... Ordered literally everything in the menu....
Chicken lolypop was okay... Mutton, chicken and prawn starters were good... It was made in chettinadu style... Was spicy and nice... Nethli fry was crisp and tasty....
Went for kotthu parrota for main course... It was decent... Good portion for one person... Ordered steamed rice fish curry and prawn fry... All tasted great... We couldn't have asked for a better place...
Elaneer paisam was ok ok.... Staff need to be little alert... A very laid back attitude... Otherwise a wonderful place to go and enjoy good food
Food was very good but the quantity was very less for the price. The ambience was good and the staff very polite. Aayirameen saiva kuzhambu with aapam or rice was very tasty.
I am a vegetarian and all other friends are nonveg lovers usually I won't like non veg restaurants still I went with my friends
Ambiance was good and I can fine lot of traditional veg items
Thank you so much for everything
Very nice flavors
Lot of special item which we must try idicha koli, kola rice, nandu poriyal
Illanier payasam was the best
Nice ambiance
Best place for our traditional food
Good food, nice ambience. Soothing music... A place you should try for chettinad cusine.. service was homely (read courteous and slow).. The non veg Thali and the elneer payasam stole the show... Infact, we packed some for later
A south Indian basically,All Items good and very taste, nice ambience.service is good, reasonable price,we are enjoying food, totally good experience.
Authentic chettinad food bursting with flavor ... both Vegetarian and non-vegetarian are very tasty. Nice ambience and service. Vaazha Poo Vadai/ Mushroom fry/ urulai roast / Brain fry / crab pirattal / aiyira meen kulambhu, kozhi chukka, Gulab jamun are must must try .
I have been to this place before maybe a year back but the taste is much much better than my last visit. The traditional ambiance with South Indian flavour taste. The price is good and hospitality was okay. Pepper crab is awesome. Even chicken, mutton and fish is goood. As satisfying place for a hungry stomach With no regrets.
One of my favourite Restaurant in Chennai. It's a great place for some authentic tamil cuisine with proper taste and servings. I loved it for the attractive environment and setup, we can feel the calm and cool vibes. Great spot for foodies.
Good varieties...
Good place for friends get together...
Nice spicy chettinad style dishes...
Good for veg and non veg ... 😀
Must give a try to munch spicy chettinad style...😉
Good interiors, comfortable chairs, friendly staff. Best part is their awesome food. From chicken, mutton dishes and biryani to paneer dishes everything is fantastic. Soups are great too. Overall a good place to customers with family or friends..

This place is another Restaurant in town which from ambiance to food, it takes you through authentic South Indian taste. The place is easy to locate on Google map and they have ample parking space . I reached this place after 3 PM but they were ready to serve after that also. The staff is well trained and courteous . The ambiance gives you vibrant feeling with good decor. they have good seating arrangement . The prices are good keeping in mind the quantity they are serving. This is pocket friendly place. The taste of the food is quite good. Good place to spend time with friends and family
The menu offered a wide variety of mouth-watering dishes, cooked to perfection. The ambiance was inviting and the service was prompt and friendly. I thoroughly enjoyed the flavors and presentation of the food. A must-visit for non-vegetarian food enthusiasts!
Decent place. Food is average to good. Chicken items r good. Seafood is very average. Desserts r just above average.
Ambient environment with parking. Good number of dishes to taste and suitable to spend time with family and friends. Price of each dish is little high comparing to the taste but a decent place to try for non veg varieties and I appreciate the service. Overall a quality time spent with best food.

A very mouth watering chicken Biryani served in a appealing silve coated dishes. The resturant has some good traditional wall decor made of Indian pottery accessories.
Munveedu restaurant 🤍
A decent restaurant in Adyar to visit with your family for your quality weekend dayouts . Loved the ambience. As the name suggests, they've recreated the ambience exactly like a Munveedu with a traditional touch by the paintings, ample lighting and their interiors.
we tried their mutton soup, nandu rasam soup ,chicken Briyani, mutton Briyani and their traditional South Indian meals served with the perfect south Indian touch.
For starter we ordered fish finger 🐟 , chicken lollipops 🍗 , crab lollipops 🦀 , kola urada , dragon chicken, sura poitu. Starters was fantastic .and it's a must try ilaneer payasam✌️ . It is located 10 mins away from Adyar Eco park.
Parkings is too tricky . No big space but there will provide valet parking 🅿️.
Food was good. Restaurant is neat, clean and made look like a old age style one. In my view it is a just a one time try place. Briyani is just a normal one, can't compare with any other. Meals is a best option.

We liked the ambience very much. Food was not the best but definitely very good. My wife liked the liver fry. They give chutney and sambhar for egg dosa. I loved it. I will say this is a must try restaurant.
Had a chance to have lunch at Munveedu Restaurant. All the starters which we ordered were really good. Also went for Non veg Meals, Mutton and Chicken briyani.. Meals was really good.. Briyani seems to be ok, bit spicy.. HIGHLIGHT was their Elaneer Payasam..It's worth the try.. Good Ambience for friends and families who wish to spend time..GIVE A TRY ONCE ATLEAST..
Delicious food with good service.
***If you are not native then don't worry here The staff is friendly, co-operative and mainly speaks in Hindi and English.
They serve fresh fish and chicken.
Crab soup was spicy
I would say the food was at its best.
This was my first time at munveedu, it was team lunch from. My office and we were a team of 13.
The managing staffs helped us with the seating and made our dine hustle free.. The wait time was very minimal. Food was served in no time for nonveg dishes.. Veg dishes took a little extra time to be served. Food quantity was reasonable.
Hygiene and clean location and ambience.
Overall the experience was homely and tasty.
Very good atmosphere, yummy dessert and food, reasonable price.
This is my first time visiting this restaurant. All the dishes we ordered was fantastic. Both quantity and quality wise. Price too seems to be in lower side when compared to similar restaurants. Only downside is if you are early on weekends, you need to wait in queue to get a table.
Our group of 12 had excellent experience when we were at lunch yesterday. Most of the dishes were good as we had Kola Urundai,Chicken Lollypop, Koduva and Kala fish fry, Nattu Kizhi and Mutton biryani and Non Veg Meals. Staff were good and only thing was we had to wait 30mins more than what they have informed.
Overall great experience. People staying in or visiting Chennai should go here atleast once.
Authentic Tamil style traditional food, I was cruising through the space, simply searching for a pleasant spot to have lunch when I stumbled over this spot. Out front there a few group in a parklet and the scents of their food sold me. I went inside to discover another couple eating at one of the corners, and they were raving about the food. Everything looks OK. The spot is incredible and village style with a couple of corners inside, however they were doing a very decent takeout business. So I plunked down, looked at the menu and chose Mutton biryani , lamb curry and a rose milk . All were awesome, and since I like my food hot, they did and it was excessively (however at that point I requested it), yet everything I can say is that it was extremely tasty and I unquestionably will be back
Taste was top notch in all varieties especially in sea food. Best place for non-vegetarian and moreover their service is eye-pulling. Restaurant is constructed with limited space for parking and dinning. Otherwise good to go.
