This is one of the best places to have south Indian meals. Taste is just awesome and the quality is extremely good. I would say they serve best sambar compared to any restaurant in Chennai

Wow. How did I miss this place till today. I had to take someone from work for a good South Indian lunch place. Zomato as usual my saviour, showed Kriyates.
Not much crowd and smiling, polite staff welcomed us. We ordered South indian special thali, vazhappo vadai and lazzi.

We group of 8 people met our old colleague for lunch here and had special meals. It was awesome. The food is cooked in authentic south indian earthern pots and served in them. Side dishes were also good. The combo of sambar ,kozhambu,butter milk gave us a wholesome spread to relish with rice. Appalam was really crispy and made us to ask for more. We had traditional sarbath drink to end the meal. Good place for vegetarian food lovers to taste authentic Tamilnadu cuisine.It is located in OMR road and has good space for car parking.
Awesome ambience. I loved the place very much. Food is good, but there are not much of options in the menu. It had very basic food options like South Indian thali for rice and normal tiffin items. Costed 200+ bucks for 2 of us. The campus has various sports activities as well. I would recommend this place for a casual out, with your gang, to spend some quality time and have food.

Best place to have authentic South Indian Thali. Very homely and tasty. Weekend special Kalayana Sapadu only Rs.175/-. Also you can leisure in their swimming pool and also lot of games for children.

1. Ambience (4/5) - Rock tables and terracotta bottles definitely adds a native feeling. Place looks a little dull due to lack of lighting(in the evenings). Other than the restaurant it also have a badminton, swimming pool and a couple of party halls.
2. Customer service (5/5) - Very receiving staff, nothing to write about.
3. Food (4/5) - This is the best part, we have visited this place twice, for lunch and dinner.
1. Lunch - Weekend Special Thali (5/5) -Definitely one amongst the best Thalis I had in Chennai. Served in banana leaf as most the places does and dishes served in stone pots are the highlight of the Thali. Both food quality and taste is good. Must try amongst is the podi with gingerly oil and their fruit pickle.
2. Dinner - Mysore Masala Dosa and kozhukattai (4/5) - kozhukattai is properly cooked and tastes good but you don't get any side dish with it. Dosa is regular.
We visited this place for dinner. The ambiance was really good. There was a cricket lawn, swimming pool and a multi purpose Hall. Coming to the food, we ordered panner Tikka in the starter's, the taste really good. Along with the starter's we ordered utthapam. The food was really good.

For a first timer it may be difficult to find as you have to come inside a narrow street to reach the reataurant but It's my third visit to kriyates and like always I am loving it. If you are a family with kids you will live the place for the swings and the garden space mantained outside the restaurant.
Coming to food, if you have arrived for lunch than they have their fixed unlimited menu with perfect taste of food. Being north Indian my kids ordered for kebab platter (more than adequate quantity) with flavours of Indian spices to leave a lasting taste to your palate. North Indian Thali also was fine, you can't complain. Loved the service of water and dishes in earthen ware. South Indian meal was fantastic and for all are friends visiting this side and looking for South Indian meal experience it will be a must to recommend place here onwards ... all in all a nice rustic experience and a good meal with family on a Sunday outing. At last not to forget we ordered some exotic sundae which had a lot of nuts and looked exotic but taste was just fine. Could have done lesser amount of raisins in it.

With such a good ambience, Kriyates is placed behind Okkiyampet bus stop. It has nice park and a home like setup. Coming to the food part, I was not so hungry wanted to have a good place to hangout so i tried Mysore Masala Dosa and Babycorn Pepper fry. Nothing special about dosa but the price was on the lower side but babycorn pepper fry was very good. If you want a silent place with good ambience Kriyates is a goto place.
They have one of the best thali. Its sufficient for a person with good appetite. The place has a bit of vintage look. Water would be served in a mud pot which is unique in a metropolitan city like chennai. Overall the food was great.

I always get lured towards food served on a banana leaf and till now it has always been a pleasant experience… This place serves Vegetarian food only.
I decided to head to this place for a weekday lunch with my colleagues. The ambience was very pleasant and welcoming, from the busy traffic of the OMR. They serve the Thali in earthenware & stoneware.
Once we got seated and ordered the thalis, the staff promptly placed the kal sattis (stoneware) with kuzhambu and kottu.. Water glasses and bottles come in earthenware. We ordered few starters (Gobi 65, babycorn machurian and Mushroom pepper fry) along with our Thalis. All the starters were too good. They serve a simple tamilnadu veg thali, (Poriyal, Kootu, Podi, Sambar, Kuzhambu, Rasam, Curd and Dessert) and it is really really good.
The service was okayish, but the food was really good and worth every penny. The place actually has options to host corporate team events and even has tennis courts. They have packages for corporate events that come with place to have activities and of course lunch.
On the whole, a very different place with a traditional lunch served in banana leaf.
Had been here on a team lunch last month. I had a unique and special experience. Food was good. Loved the way they served in vessels made of stone.

Kriyates is a very nice place.Located in Okkiampet behind Puranvankara tower.This spot has a restaurant,coffee house,sports arena and private hall.They serve Chinese, American, Biryani, South Indian, Italian, Continental ,North Indian food.The looks of the restaurant is pretty antic.They use clay glass and pot.This place has got a pool where weekend party are arranged..Lots of sitting space is there.Come in a group of 10-15 not an issue,you'll get large dinning table.
We tried mostly north Indian dishes which included Paneer tikka,Gobhi Manchurian,Baby corn Golden fry in starter. Phulka,Butter Kulcha,Dal fry,Kadai Paneer,Fried rice in main course. The taste of the food was so so.

Kriyates is a recreational club with swimming pool, Badminton court, cricket nets and trampoline. A good option for get togethers. The way that leads to the restaurant is so lush green ( feel good factor). My order was confined to Tanjore meals, falooda and lime soda. Food is served on a huge banana leaf and the items are extensive. Nothing amusing apart from the Tamarind rice and mixed fruit sweet. Beetroot chutney hardly had any taste. Yogurt was too sticky and didn't seem to be prepared naturally.

A great place for Vegetarian food in OMR.
Ambience: Covered by trees and greenery, we didn't fell the heat though we went on a hot afternoon. The swimming pool near the restaurant also adds to the lush surrounding. It has few swings and a trampoline (Paid) to attract kids. First place were I saw the trampoline being allowed to be used by adults too.:-)
Food: We ordered South Indian weekend meals and it was very authentic both in taste and how it was served. They serve in Urulis (those made by stone and used in villages) which makes it look more appealing. It is literally a Kalyana Saapadu with varied items like Fruit Pachadi, Thayir Pachadi, Potato fry, Paruppu usili, Mor Kuzhambu, Sambhar, Rasam, Vadai, Thogayal, Oorugai, Appalam and Curd. Except for Appalam, Vadai and Curd they refill everything how many ever times we ask. All the items were upto the mark with home made taste. Not to mention their special Paruppu Podi.
Service: Everyone at the restaurant were very friendly and caring to replenish the items as and when needed without even asking. They were very magnanimous to not charge for whatever my 5.5 yr old son ate.
They have north indian items also in their menu but we didn't give it a try. They server south indian tiffin items for dinner too. Next time I'll surely try these by going for dinner.
I certainly recommend everyone to visit this place and have their sumptuous feast. A real value for money with utmost satisfying appetite.

Nested in the interiors of omr, this one would be a lil hard to find. They have their recreational spots within. Space for outdoor games & pool makes this place quite good for a medium class office outing! Ample parking space. great service! best to visit at nights! Importantly, value for money! They had the traditional way of serving food which looks tempting! They have attractive combos as well!
so we ended up having a south indian meal and north indian meal with a mushroom manchurian along! South indian included the usual ones! North indian meal on the other hand, din go well with us! the quantity was less and din actually taste like northindian! they din have subzi's as well! manchurian, nothing to complain! quantity was filling and had enough flavors!

Went to this place with Zomato's review today. It's very near to my office. So chose this place for lunch. While entering it was giving a look as if I am entering into a resort. Slowly walked around the place where I could find children play area, shuttle court, swing, pool, in the path I could find many places to sit and gaze about. Atlast I reached where I was welcomed with "Golu" with rows of God's and Goddess. It was so divine. The dishes tasted fine which was served in pots. Food was freshly prepared and dined in green leaves. Vessels made of jally carried the dishes and served perfectly. The cost is so reasonable. We had a great lunch and left the lone place with lots of memories and pictures.

Visited this place for a dinner with a family for hubby's Birthday, This one is located where in the people cannot guess in OMR, you can simply identify it by following the map. The place has a good ambience for a relaxing evening. Decent restaurant for veggies, Good quality food and service. Rates were affordable. The only thing which disappoints me is when i inquired in phone regarding table booking and cake cutting for birthday in my table, they said they will charge 500 extra for that. i dont find this is reasonable one.

Visited this all veg restaurant as my husband was craving a quick vegetarian lunch that had rasam... since Iv seen a lot of reviews of the place I suggested kriyates.... it's not on the main road and you definitely have to use gps to find the place if you are not familiar with OMR...

The service is good although sometimes we need to get their attention.
Food is good and delicious. Specially recommended is their fruit nanari juice. We have ordered a few times and I have visited the place multiple times.
Another very positive factor is that there is a huge sports complex within which the restaurant is built and there is a big garden outside.
You can go and relax and sit in the chairs in the garden (if the weather is good) and they will serve drinks there also.

My friend enjoyed it thoroughly and I had also tasted all of them and it was worth it ! Curd isn't provided with the meal as it is limited meal which I couldn't accept the fact . For the South Indian meal , curd is mandatory atleast for me 😀
North Indian thali- just loved it ♥️ best !
Comprised white rice , pulao, phulka, black dal , Channa masala, aaloo fry, kesari, dahi gravy and raita. Easily the best meal and worth it! 😇

Kriyates.. What's that.. WOW.. What a place.. Thats what my reaction when I first came to know about this place through an article in Internet. Immediately planned and visited this place.
This one located in place which many could not guess. By seeing it's pictures I thought it would be in outskirts of Chennai but to my surprise it is in OMR that too near Thuraipakkam. Just followed map to find it. Have space for parking. There was some function going on so it was full. But managed to park in the roadside.
First thing which attracted me is the place and ambiance. It is actually a recreation club. Have cricket ground, 3 batminton court, table tennis table, swimming pool, 2 party hall, lawn, restaurant, trampoline, swing etc. Everything is at additional cost. For batminton online reservation required. Also there is timing restriction for cricket.
Ambiance of restaurants and surrounding is excellent. Especially in the night with lighting. The seating is constructed one. We call it as "Thinnai" in Tamil. Heard lunch are served in traditional vessel in clay. Even tumbler made in clay. Wooden chairs used in few table for seating.
I went to this place along with my friend. Ordered Golden Fried Babycorn, methi kulcha, pudina roti, veg Masala paratha, mushroom fried rice and Chettinad veg gravy. Starter Golden Fried Babycorn is excellent. Mushroom fried rice is bit oily but tasted good. Roti and kulcha is decent. Paratha and gravy is below average.
Price is reasonable. Value for money 💰. Worth visiting for it's facilities and ambiance. Food as mentioned by many reviewers, is mixed experience. Some are good while some are below average. Keep in mind, it is a pure vegetarian restaurant.
Accessibility to all the facilities is available to all including non-members. For swimming need to carry nylon swim suits. Nice place for team outing. Heard they have few other activities too. Hope you find this review useful.

It was a family lunch for father's day.... a group of 6 adults and 3 kids. We decided to try Kriyates considering the Veg preferences of our family. We were a little early for lunch so didn't have to wait for the table. Liked the way they used earthenware for water bottles and tumblers. Their stone tables were fixed so we had to split the group to adjacent tables.
We kept the order simple. South Indian and North Indian unlimited meals for adults and fried rice for kids. South Indian was served pretty quick but north Indian & fried rice took some time. Served on the banana leaf, SI meals was delicious. It didn't have some 25 different sides. It was quite simple.. one spinach gravy, one yam based side dish, channa gravy, sweet, beetroot pachadi, pickle, dal, chappathi and the regular sambar, rasam, curd. The taste of most of the side was very good. The veg briyani as part NI meals was good as well. It was worth for Rs 150 a meal. Fried rice was quite ordinary though.
It's definitely a worthwhile place for Veg foodies & family lunches.
If at all there is a place that considers veggie lovers and offers things at an affordable cost with great ambience and closer to nature feel in Chennai it would be none other than KRIYATES. Would strongly recommend this for all veggies and especially for family outings. The place is more of a recreation club kind of thing with swimming badminton etc with a restaurant inside. One small drawback is it is present off the main road at OMR. Probably they can put some adv/route directions from the main road.

It is a decent place with good ambience and I'd give a big thumbs up for the idea of having earthen jugs and drinking glasses, just lifts the taste of water.
Now coming to the food, I must say it is bag of mixed beans, with some of the dishes coming off well, while some were a let down.
We ordered paneer manchurian, mushroom 65 for starters and paneer butter masala, aloo bhindi masala along with few indian breads for main course along with schezwan fried rice simple veg fried rice. The mushroom was crispy the manchurian on the other hand the fried rice dishes had a burnt after taste. While I decided to do it away with a glass of lemon mint my friends opted for a not so good nannari sherbat.
The lunch meals is one of the best at Kriyates. Home-cooked style delicious meal served on a banana leaf. The dishes are served in stone vessels bringing the authentic flavours of a village.
Their al-carte menu and the North Indian dishes are decent too but if you haven't eaten their lunch meals you haven't tasted their food yet!
Happy to have this joint at a walkable distance from home... My kids love to hang around and enjoy their sumptuous finger licking food... Friendly approach is their highlight.. A must visit for Veg food lovers...

Talking abt the ambience, it's like a small resort sort of feeling. They have a swimming pool with increasing depth and kids section, then they have trampoline, next they have hanging jhula, then there is a music class, a small rooftop area, and finally a restaurant.
Kids will love the place. We went for lunch but I'm pretty sure we will go for dinner. Talking the ambience of restaurant, it's simple and elegant and eye soothing. They have speakers so u can connect ur Bluetooth device. Talking about the food, they have both north indian and south indian dishes. We took a special north indian.thali and it was too yummy. Price-wise I would say it's more than.worth. a must try for a group of friends and its pocket friendly;)
The pics I have attached is of the thali. They serve soup and desert also as a part of thali. The sabjis is unlimited and they give give phulkas, one small bucket fried rice and a bowl of plain rice. They give pineapples,chips, pakodas, three kind of dals, dahi, salad, and two vegetables. Overall a nice place. If possible go for dinner.

Went here for a treat with my friend (his recommendation). It was very close to my office & I never knew about such a place (found it in a remote street). It is a neat resort and the restaurant is located inside the resort.
They have quite a good number of options in their menu but we went ahead with the South Indian Unlimited Meals and it was simply a delight.
The taste was simply awesome (considering that the cost was just 150rs like the other Andhra mess' around). It has ample items like 2 vegetable based side items / curries (poriyal), traditional parupu podi with oil, some pulao, potato chips, sambar, parupu, rasam, curd, appalam, panneer butter masala, chapathi, onion pakodas, gulab jamun and ice cream. We also ordered mushroom pepper masala which was quite good too.
The way the items were served were different as well - many food items in traditional stone based vessels and water in mud based vessels.
The ambiance was also nice with stone benches (cushions available for better seating).
The service was also excellent and they had working a.c. Makes me wonder how they operate at such affordable rates.
Adding a few pics since I really liked this place & will be visiting often going forward. Must try if you are thinking of visiting any so called local Andhra mess'.

A sudden plan to have family lunch which includes two senior ppl, in a quiet environment, took us to this place. And the decision was really good.
Its part of a sports club with a pure vegetarian cuisine. The place looks soothing with greenery, away from the hustle bustle of the OMR.
We stuck to the South Indian Weekend Meal & North Indian weekend Meal. The interiors wore a rustic look, with cemented seats & a few wooden chairs. Water is served in Mud Jugs & Glasses. Dishes like, Sambhar, Kootu, Rasam, Curry served in stoneware vessels. More village outlook. I liked it.
South Indian meal served on Plantain leaf & North Indian meal served in a thali with a small bucket of pulav, surrounded by small katoris of various dishes. I had the Southie and all dishes tasted home made and the seniors in the group also loved it. Those who had Northie, were also happy. And the price is Rs.150/-, which is total VFM. Also had their Nanaari Sarbath, which was also good.
Would I go there again, YES, but for dinner, during which the place will be lit up with lights.
The way they serve the lunch is really good. The items are served in clay pots even drinking water in mud pot.
That have few varieties of menu South Indian special, weekend lunch, North Indian Thalli and mini lunch. I opted for weekend one. It as very homely food. Simple menu but tasted excellent. The weekend lunch is unlimited and costs rs. 120. Really vfm
Kriyates was in my bookmarks for a long time. The restaurant is part of a recreation club. A trampoline, the lawn, swimming pool and the trees around creates a beautiful ambience.
Everything inside the restaurant is near to nature. Be it the mud pots, glass or the fixed tables made of rock. Ordered north indian thali and panneer butter masala. The roti along with the thali and panneer butter masala was average, but the thali was good. A great place for family get-together.

Held a small function in their mini hall and ordered food here. Food preparation and service was good. Eventhough varieties and options are limited, food was neither too spicy nor bland. Main hall is bigger in size and can easily accommodate 200+ guests, whereas mini hall can accommodate 70+ guests. Overall satisfied with the service and would recommend it for small to medium gatherings.
Very good ambience. Perfect place for a family lunch. Kids will enjoy a lot with many outdoor attractions like swing, water games, balloon shoot, trampoline etc. Cricket bowling machine available. Ample parking space, calm and serene place quite away from the main road.
Tasty vegetarian dishes served in earthen clay pots and banana leaves. Traditional meals, south Indian marriage meals available. Reasonable cost.

The interiors of hotel looks ethnic with earthen pots 🍯for water and brick walls adds beauty to the place.
Regarding food we had North Indian Buffet which was delicious with naan, kadai mushroom 🍄was awesome.

I joined this club with an annual membership mainly for using the swimming pool. The pool is clean and maintained well. Maximum depth is 5 ft. Coaching sessions are organised based on number of interested candidates. The indoor badminton and table tennis facility can also be used with the membership. The vegetarian food restaurant offers good lunch buffet. A nice place.
Love this place. We go there for swimming and they charge reasonably. It's usually very clean and less crowded. You have to book your slot prior. They have other facilities like badminton court, cricket nets, restaurent etc.
Nice place to have traditional food... Ambience and outside seating is great.... Try their South Indian dishes... Especially Mysore masala dosai.... Their tanjore meals also awesome... 😋😋😋. Price increased recently comparing to before 3 to 4 months..
Located in a very attractive location which includes a lawn and a swimming pool, this is a pure vegetarian restaurant that offers delicious food. The kalyana virundhu is a must try. They offer authentic south indian food on bananas leaf which includes sambhar, vathalkuzhambu, kootu, rasam, biryani, vendakkai pachadi, chutney and the list goes on. Each dish was good and lip smacking. They serve dishes in stone vessels and clay jars, copper tumblers.
They also offer other menu from north indian, south indian.
It was a different experience of having food here. I loved the food here and heard similar views from others too. I will definitely visit there again.

We are going for swimming classes here. Mr. Mani is an excellent teacher and is very patient with all the kids. The pool is well maintained, would recommend this place.
