One of best briyani near t.nagar....always try to buy the kilo briyani... which is cheaper compare single packet.... recently ordered 1 measure which comes around 2950 .... briyani was good ...good flavors..and mild spicy...mutton piece is good not soft enough...only let down is brinjal curry which very average...

By far their best taste last night . That too it was a Sunday. I am a regular to this biriyani and I often choose to have biriyani only from here. Yesterday their taste level had reached 10/10 for the first time. My usual take away is a Biriyani Rice and Hot Pepper Chicken , I mix and have them. I will continue to be an avid Fan of Ambur Biriyaanis. But I feel , over the last few months the price has gone considerably higher and I wish they lower the price considering their huge fan base.

Normal paratha was very dry and not flakey. Tandoori paratha was delicious and I recommend you order it. The mutton byrani was nice but I wish it had more meat.
I wish the takeout meal had included cutlery. It didnโt.

This place has been recommended by a few and it was on the back burner for a long time now. Then, I happened to try them through a delivery order and liked it. So, decided to check them directly in person before going ahead with a write-up.
The long-grained, aromatic Mutton Biryani (โน180) with a few irritants was spot-on with spices and flavours. Some might feel that the Mutton pieces are less in the Biryani but for more-of-a-rice and less-of-a-piece kind of a person like me, it would be sufficient. Nothing much to rave about the Brinjal accompaniment, here. The Hawai Chicken (โน185) looked high on colour but I must give it to it for tasting awesome. It tasted brilliant with a coating of fried Garlic in every bite.
Ambience is okayish. Looks like they are quiet strong on the grills, too. Noticed that many tables were filled with that order. Total bill was โน650 with 2 added soft drinks.
Location: Coming from Teynampet side, take the right after Naidu Hall. This place is on the end of that street on your right side.

Ambur Biriyaanis is undoubtedly The Best place to get a delicious, flavourful, yummy Biryani in town. I was recommended to this place by a colleague. After that I became a very big fan of their biryani. I have recommended and insisted some of my family members to taste their biryani. Most of them loved it. I will never miss this biryani whenever I come to Chennai. Have tried almost all the dishes from their menu. Their sides are very good. I highly recommend everyone to try this biryani and I am sure spice lovers would love it.

I have been fortunate enough to be able to taste their amazing biriyanis on 5 occasions. As always I will only be reviewing the biriyani and not consider factors like price, ambience or service. Though I have sampled both chicken and mutton, I will be reviewing mutton biriyani since it's my favourite.ย
Ambur Biriyaanis's Mutton Biriyani.
1. Flavor profie of the Rice - 5/5, While it was a very impactful first few bites, it mellowed out into a very balanced flavor. Not too spicy, but definitely not mild either. And flavor felt exciting through the meal, even after the 5th time.
2. Texture of rice & Consistency - 5/5, biriyani almost is always consistent, no matter when you go. Not oily, fluffy rice - produces an amazing mouthfeel.ย
3. Side dish(brinjal gravy + raita) - 4/5, I loved the gravy so much I didn't try the raita the first few times, spicy and impactful - plays very well with the rice and meat. While the raita did taste well, it should be considered more of a palate cleanser, rather than an accompaniment.ย
4. Meat - 3/5, while mutton was still a very good mutton, tender and paired well. It just didn't seem to feel into place, didn't have the dissolve in your mouth feel. Perhaps my least favorite part of the plate.ย
5. Overall - 4.25/5 - Definitely one of the better biriyanis out there and from a relatively unknown place. Don't be afraid to go there and experience it yourself, you owe it to yourself.

Have been ordering Biriyani here for over 15 years!!! Simply delicious and very light on your stomach! Not Spicy! We have tried the biriyani so many times and the quality remains the same!

We've tried many things like briyani, parotta, noodles, tandoori, some kinda nv gravy, ย and some dry nv dishes. Can't recollect all but i'm gonna mention a few here. But most their dishes ll be spicy.
Briyani - One of d best places in Chennai where i've had briyanis. Will be somewt spicy but not too much. Even though it's basmati rice i've really liked it.
Nv gravies - These will generally spicy and tastes gud. But on the oilier side.
Tandoori chicken - dis tastes delicious wit d right amt of spices in it and ll be accompanied by mayonnaise and mint chutney.
Dry nv dishes - chicken dishes tastes gud n ll always b fresh but it's not d case in fish and mutton.
Noodles - Tastes somewt bland and ll be same as in most of d restaurants.
Best biryani my family loves to indulge in day after day.. my son jus loves it so much he would ask for it for lunch and dinner.. good quality biryani for the price u pay.

One of the best 'basmati rice' biriyani in Chennai. The 'taste' and 'quantity' makes you feel more than worth for it's 'price', which is reasonable.

Been a regular and a fan of their biriyani. Great service , biriyani is prepared in ambur style (obviously) and undeniably tasty. Their tandoori and grill chicken are must-try.
I have always maintained that many foodies avoid small scale Biriyani shops, which actually serves tastier and spicier Basmathi rice Biriyani compared to the "Biriyani Chains", because of the ambience. This shops makes up for it by serving the same awesome Biriyani with a better shop ambience and only a very marginal increase in price. The shop has seats in an AC room as well.
Ordered one Egg Biriyani and Chettinad Chicken Fry. The Biriyani had two eggs. And was very good and very very filling quantity (though I have given reviews about better Biriyanis in small scale shops of Chennai). The Chettinad Chicken Fry was the highlight. It had the right pepper and spice content and went soo well with the Biriyani (you can order boneless too). Just loved it.
I request every foodie in T.Nagar to try this shop and foodies in other localities to find such shops and make them popular.
PS: To be avoided if you aren't a spice lover.
Picked up a couple of chicken biryanis and a chicken 65 boneless on the recommendation of a friend . The biryani was excellent and the chicken 65 was also good.

This shops are really best know for their briyani they give. the briyani was good as always but these guys really look into the cleanliness of the place too. its was too horrible on the day we went there.
Ordered mutton and chicken Ambur biryani , masala omlette , fish fry , andhrachillychicken. Home delivery .
Biryani was good , though chicken was too dry than tender n juicy , it was not like Ambur style more of tamilnadu style . In comparison to Ambur star biryani in annannagar . Fish was good ,omlette too . The biggest disappointment was Andhra chilly chicken didn't look any thing like Andhra style , it was Chinese style . You can't serve Chinese when some one orders of Andhra authentic style .. In total taste was good .
One of my most favourite place once. Sad to see that the quality and taste needs much improvement . Briyani average and kala pop superb. Giving 4 stars for my love for the loyalty . Else would have given 3.
The Naan was outstanding! With butter ๐ masala we went with usuals it was little spicey....
But the grill was little bit raw....with more masala it was bought in a matter urgency to the customer
Mutton briyani was good with right ratio of oil and masala blended to the rice and with tender mutton.
Golisoda was bringing memories the lemon flavour was superb then paneer soda was superb too.
Then the they gave unlimited myonniese which I love to eat mmmyummy....
Good place to have lunch..We had Briyani and pepper chicken and it is good. Ambience would have been better. A/C rooms are available too.

Great food.. Normal pricing.. Taste worth it but not the quantity.. They concentrate more on quality. Best for a sudden stop for lunch or dinner. Not a big space. Still a decent ambience

We were very pleased with the food served there. Thala curry was finger-licking good and mutton biryani was awesome. We enjoyed with our family and air conditioning room was also available.

Food was good. But little costly for an average man. Ambience was typical south indian hotel. Hospitality was good. I forgot to ask the person who attended me. Was pretty good suggestion by him. Enjoyed the meal
