Excellent, Saravanana Bhavan is back
Surprised to see so many negative reviews for this place.
Just before taking my flight stopped here for a quick lunch(on a saturday & Ugadi).
Ambience was decent, staff were polite and helpful, service was quick.
Coming to food except for bit bland dal everything they had served from Watermelon juice to ice cream was perfect.
I had a different experience than what was in reviews.
Decent place to have south Indian food anytime of the day .
Do not miss their sambar .
Everything is good . My all time breakfast is poori and pongal. They make the best .
We are visiting their hotel chains for like so many years and had the best experience
We went at 11 pm after outstation travel.Food was OK..Idli was cold.
My wife wanted a juice. The juice counter was closed but they opened it just to serve her.
4 star for that and for the ample parking space.
My everyday Breakfast place
I see there are lot of -ve reviews about this restaurant which is really strange
I would say HSB is still one of very few South Indian restaurants serving authentic Tamilnadu food items
No doubt about it
My Fav
Ghee mixed parotta
Ghee pongal
Cofee
14 Idly
Had onion rava dosa and rava onion utappa. Both tasted very nice. Sambar and 3 varieties of chatni to have with. Then special tea was same taste as we make at home. Staff is also good. Neat and clean place. Don't use the restroom it's very dirty. Get your self relieved before coming.
Overall verdict
Ambience - 2 / 5
Food - 4.5 / 5
Service - 5 / 5
Value for money - 5 / 5
My husband loves Saravana Bhavan, irrespective of the city or COUNTRY he is in, he will not miss going to this restaurant. So far he as tried outlets in Singapore, London and NY. So yes, if the management is listening, you have a strong ambassador and fan here.
Now, since we were in Chennai, we had to, had to visit this place. The food and service are the high points here. Ambience not so, no soap for hand wash, clean tables is also a challenge to find. Food although is tasty and so the is the quick service.
Order for the day:
Mini Idlis - My all-time favourite thing here. A little spicy for me but the sambar soaked Idlis with spoons of ghee on it, made my day.
Ghee Masala Roast - tasty, crispy and yes bucket loads of ghee on it. They made sure that the name Ghee speaks and shows up excitedly. 😬
On the sides we had watermelon and mausambi juices.
Good place to go, if you want something quick tasty and are low on budget.

This was my 1st visit to Chennai and Sarvana Bhavan, this is near to airport. I was stunned by the Dossaz menu and variety which this restaurant offers. I ordered a dosa with mashroom masala and a filter coffee. I have never tasted such delicious dosa. One dosa is enough for one. Also the coffee is served in authentic south Indian style it was value for money. I would recommended to have dosa.
good pl try to supply fairly hot
Situated near to mercedes showroom!
Have a huge surrounding compound for customers to park!
The seating capacity is also huge. Went there with my cousin last week, ordered for appam, masala dosa, rava masala dosa and teas!!
Tasted awsome as their other outlets!!
The only thing dissapointing is their presentation!
Serves food in their yellor coloured plastic dishes!!
Hate it!!
A fast serving family restaurant, which was well patronised at 9 AM. The mini meal had masala dosa, 6 button idlisambar, very nice upmarket, halwa, vada, coconut chutney, and green chutney. Wash rooms are outside and are very basic. Food is good.
Saravana Bhavan is a South Indian restaurant chain that is popular for its vegetarian food. The Alandur branch is located near the airport and it is a convenient place to stop for a meal if you are travelling. The restaurant is clean and well-maintained, and the staff are friendly and helpful. The food is delicious and it is served quickly. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who is looking for a good South Indian meal.
I recently dined at HDB and had an enjoyable experience overall. The restaurant had a traditional and heritage vibe, creating a pleasant atmosphere.
The service was friendly and efficient, and the staff seemed knowledgeable about the menu, making helpful suggestions.
Moving on to the food, it was delicious and well-prepared. I tried their "Kall Dosa and Idli, vada" it was very tasty. The portion size was average, and the dish was served hot and fresh. One minor issue was that some dishes on the menu were priced on the higher side, which affected my overall impression. While the quality of the food was great, the prices made it a bit less appealing.
Food was good, nothing extraordinary though. Took a very long time to service. Ample car parking was available
Located opposite to International Airport Aerodrome.
Having good and spacious parking facility for both two wheeler and four wheeler.
Heavily crowded during weekends and we may need to for sometime to get Dine-in.
Food taste and quality was good but quantity could have been more for the price quoted.
With ample of parking space near to airport this restaurant attracts wide range of customers towards it. Ambience was same as their other restaurants which was clean and neat. Service was good.
This restaurant is located at Cement road, Alandur. Easy to reach, within the city. It has A/C and Non A/C fine dining. Food items are well and good. Had breakfast with limited choice only available. Mini tiffin and mini idly dishes are awesome. But, Servers are very poor in handling the customers. Everytime we have to turn our head to them and raise our hands to ask our need. Even for regular drinking water, we have to tell them to pour water in the glass. Disappointed with poor customer care service. Finally not satisfied with their relationship or service. Ample bike and car parking available.
A franchise restaurant serving great Indian food at really affordable prices, nearby to Chennai airport. Whether you’re staying at an airport hotel or just passing through and wanting a meal before checking in, this place is fantastic - the staff will look after you and the food is excellent. They also offer Indian desserts, and these are delicious :)
The place is big. The food is decent. The server takes some time in getting the orders, maybe due to the sheer number of people coming in. Lots of parking available. Good vegetarian food at affordable prices.
Situated at a very good place with enough parking facility. Quality of the food was also good. But felt like the prices were on the higher side comparatively.
#Quality of food was always good
#fried rice taste was not upto the mark
#Noodles taste was also to be improved
#Serving people needs to be improved to listen to the customers and to be active in their work..
#sambar idly was good
#try to improve the serving time
#Good parking space
Visited this restaurant after came from auditions. Nice ambience and huge space. Ordered idli and dosai, poori. All the items served very hot. They provide three chutneys. Taste of those chutneys are awesome. Finally a well balanced coffee gave me to a nice finish to my breakfast. Executives are well trained to looking customers. Strongly recommended this place for your ungry hours. Thanks to Hotal Saravana Bbavan.
