The staff is courteous and recommended the Masala tea, which was amazing! The ambience is breathtaking!
Quick Review: A decent and quiet place to have lunch or dinner.
Detailed review:
Location: Right inside the Pheonix Market City above the wire room.
Ambiance: the place is quite tiny compared to the usual restaurants but the interiors are done very artistically which gives you a warm and cozy feeling.
Food & Drinks: The food items on the buffet menu was limited but sufficient. The starters were very few and the main course was ok. The brownie in the desserts was really good and others were okish.
Service: The service here is pretty good as they attended to all our small requests as we had a small baby with us.
Overall, a good place to have your buffet lunch or dinner if you are bored of the usual ABs BBNs CBs etc.
After a tiring shopping session at Phoenix mall, we were looking for a quiet place to sit down and enjoy our lunch. Thats when we came across this hidden little place with a very peaceful ambience. We had opted for the buffet. The soup and starters were served at the table. The manchow soup was decent. For non veg starters, it was kozhi milagu varuval and fish in black soy sauce and for veg, a tikki and chilli paneer. Everything tasted good. The coleslaw guacamole in the salad section need a special mention. The main course was the usual chicken biryani, veg noodles , pasta, roti and stuff. And it all tasted decent,if not great. The desserts were just okay. Overall, this place was a breath of fresh air in comparison to all the other noisy places in the mall.
A good place which is above wire room. I never know that there is a boutique hotel inside phoenix mall. Annam cafe is situated inside this hotel. There is a separate entrance inside phoenix to reach this place. They serve alcohol and mocktails too. Food could be a bit better and this is not a very big place. A calm and soothing ambience all around.
We had buffet lunch here, good spread value for money and we enjoyed the food. Especially staffs hospitality was good, thank you entire team for your service and tasty food.
Had the buffet at Annam cafe. It was decent for the price. Though I enjoyed the salads and the starters only, I’ll give 4 stars for the service. It was prompt and helpful. It’s a decent place for the price.
Such a decent buffet.Worth for money every week if we come for movie will defenetly dont miss this quick and tasty buffet.
Need some more starters like in sea food.
Thanks for the quick suggestion Krishna 👍 we were on time for the movie too.
We went here During the Anime-con Festival and this was supposed to be the Maid Cafe and as we went in we were amazed by the ambience and also shocked by the Menu card and literally the starting price is around 350 I guess and we went in as group of 6 and we were supposed to order minimum 3 dishes.
Since the theme was Maid Cafe it was surrounded by all the People in Various Cosplay and it was amazing as an one time experience since Maid Cafe are rare to find.
We order Pork Belly Ramen,Paneer Tikka and Baked Yoghurt and the Bill was around ₹3000

Not many people know that there's an entire hotel with 26 rooms and a restaurant hiding in plain sight in Phoenix Mall, Velachery. Justa Hotels' Chennai avatar is the very interesting Design Hotel. This was the second time I'd visited the hotel and like the first time, I was super impressed by the Hotel's architecture and aesthetics. The first time was during a food walk at Phoenix mall's restaurants which famous foodie Kunal Vijayakar had explored with us.
The design hotel is the newest hottie in town flaunting at the eastern gate of the Phoenix market city. The hotel name is as great as its interiors. They are highly inclined towards a lot of Indian traditional culture. Spotted a lot of goddesses precisely Amman sculptures everywhere. A corridor narrowing down leading to a 5* 5 e lift. At the third level with all the mirror and fabricated design behind a white wall is annam cafe. I judged Annam Cafe to be less attractive. Maybe you shouldn’t judge the book by its cover. It was an amazing feeling being there. Lovely and sophisticated interiors. The lightings are carefully chosen to match the surroundings. The coaches are too comfortable and occupancy is around 20-30 seaters. A modular kitchen alongside showcasing the presentation of the nosh bestowed by the chef. Brownie points to the chef for his briefs about every dish and answering all our queries. The entire management was so attentive and always extended their ear to us. They were highly hospitable and well mannered.
The food was a rendition to The KING of Fruit - MANGO.
THE STAR MENU
MANGO JUICE- Starting with the drink, interesting one which had more addition to rustiness by raw mangoes spiced it up. Highly experimental.
Chettinad spiced Kochi Varuval- I can taste the marinated spice crystal clear like nearly feel the grounded masala they used. They didn’t make a paste of the masala, instead, marinade the chicken for a longer duration in the grounded masala powder.
Broccoli & Cauliflower Chettinad Peratal - Similarly like the chicken the broccoli is cooked along the grounded spices. Broccoli and Cauliflower are always like bread and butter, compliments each other very well.
Nadar style Mutton Korma- Essence of the curry gave me typical south Indian home style. The mutton was cooked to perfection.
Chicken and Mutton chettinad kozhambu- Tasted more like fish kozhambu but both gravies differed only with their meat pieces otherwise the curries tasted the same. Mango influence was well received.
Ghee Rice- Long rice, felt a little rawness.
Kothu Paratha- Experienced both chicken and mutton kothu paratha. Minced at rational proportions and served with raitha
Mango Panna Cotta- Pannacotta needed to be more fluffy than being jelly type else the taste was close to heavenly.
Mango Baked Yoghurt- Here is the heavenly dessert, showstopper completely with its texture and taste. Chef gave us a glimpse of the arrangements to the dessert at the kitchen.
Thank you for such an invite. The price is affordable and more reasonable to accept.
This visit to Annam cafe was quite a revelation. Initially I didn't think much of it as I felt it was just going to be another restaurant in the sprawling Phoenix Market city. But this one caught me by complete surprise. The restaurant as such is located in a separate enclosure as part of 'The Design Hotel'. And my god, the hotel inside was all 'creme de la creme' as it was designed to excellence and had such an inherent artistic touch. The colour combinations and the tones were all worked out beautifully at the ulterior. And inside at the restaurant Annam Cafe, it painted a beautiful caricature with the decor being suave and giving a lounge kind of lifestyle look. The aesthetic sense felt very appealing and the decor totally inviting.
The restaurant as such serves North Indian, South Indian and continental cuisine but this specific occasion was to celebrate 'The journey of Chettinad food along with the king of fruits, Mango'. The options were far more for the meat lovers but there were also a few veg based items here and there in the fray.
On the starters, we got Broccoli and Cauliflower Peratal infused with lots of spices and went well with the cheese onion. In the main course, it was the authentic Parotha to eat along with Kai kari chettinad. I admit having really liked the curry. It had all the necessary veg coastal ingredients and made on a rich creamy gravy and it was a delight tearing pieces of the parotha, dipping it with the curry and consuming it. The Veg Kothu Parotha was another winner. It was crushed and flavoured abundantly with lots of veggies inset. It was nice to eat along with the cheese onion and a fantastic in house made mango chutney. The Ghee rice too was a pretty good add on.
The drinks and desserts were all mango specials. First up, the mango juice was an extremely good refresher with chills of ice added and a mild tinge of spice. It was a perfect drink to beat the heat. And for the grand finale, we had couple of desserts in the form of Mango Panna Cota and Mango Baked Yoghurt which played proceedings. They were done up live for us and tasted marvellous. It just looked immensely appealing with chocolate flakes, a scrape of mango pulp, raspberry sauce, garnished chocolate soil, pieces of alphonso mango and mint leaves for touch down. It was delicious and we were lost in oogling st it initially as it was so masterfully crafted.
To round it up, the event turned out to be a very interesting meet. The service was spot on and the comfort factor was totally inviting. We didn't pay as this over an invite. Rates as such are pretty competitive. You would definitely agree even more once you get a chance to visit the place. I didn't have a shot at too many of the items being a vegetarian but from whatever little, I was more than satisfied. I look forward to coming here more often to try a hand at their continental and North Indian items. First experience was more than royally satisfactory.
I stayed at Design Hotel Chennai last week and I was completely mesmerised with their restaurant Annam Cafe. From food to ambiance to service, everything was just SUPERRRB. I had Amritsari fish and it tasted DELICIOUSSSSS. My friends tried vegetarian dishes and they too were all praises for the food. Full marks!
After completing our purchase, we were checking for food options and decided to try it out in Annam Cafe. Probably they kept this restaurant primarily for guest staying in the Design Hotels. Entry is not straight forward and you need to go through Purple Chameleon Bar and take a lift to upstairs. Inside the restaurant, it's cosy and comfortable. Service is generally good. Food quality was excellent. Veg manchow soup was not that spicy and tasted really good.
To reach this place we need to head to the purple chameleon and head to the elevator. We need to ask in the reception for access to this restaurant. Since it's our first time here we called the restaurant and asked for directions I am giving it here so that the next one doesn't feel difficult. The food was excellent overall. Wish we went as a group so that we could have tasted everything on the menu. The quantity of food was perfect. We ordered Nacho with beans and salsa which was wonderful and we recommend that for trying. Greek pizza was a bit bland for my taste i missed the tangy-ness. Then we wanted to give a shot at the Indian breads so we got garlic naan which was amazing and stuffed kulcha which is preferred to be eaten hot with kadai panner for sabzi. I have had better paneer but sabzi overall was really good.
We had an offer for zomato gold and for the two of us we paid only 1500. And for the price here we found the food to be worth our money
A rustic ambience, with good service and good food. One must try nachos with beans salsa, grilled chicken steak, lemon chicken wings and khasta bun parotta. These dishes were extremely delicious. Since, it serves the items of purple chameleon also, one can have alcoholic drinks also. The serene ambience also helps in enjoying the great food and thus makes the dining experience memorable.
This place is hidden in plain sight and serves the menus from Annam and PC below. It's super quite sometimes uncomfortably so. Service is ok, and many things have to climb a floor. Food, however, makes up for it. A good place for a cozy family reunion!
Ps: Try this Thai green curry..
We were actually heading to food court in Phoenix mall and accidentally noticed this restaurant offering buffet. It was worth trying out there. Food served were too good. Specially starters, chilli fish, curry leaves fish were mouth watering. My MIL who generally is not a fan of buffet thoroughly enjoyed her food. Quite a lot of dishes in the main course ( varieties of naan, butter chicken, mutton Briyani, fish curry, okra masala, tandoori chicken, salads, curd rice and veggies and many more) and excellent pastries.
Pros:
Excellent ambience
Nice outdoor garden view
Good food
Cons:
Nothing to say!
Awesome food, great host, ambiance. We pre booked the place for a birthday part, Viso, Arun and pastry chef Lakshmi did a great job to make our experience great. We were a huge group, they accomodated us so well and helped us and the kids have a great time. The cake, chocolate with cream cheese was wonderful. Food was very tasty and perfectly balanced.
Excellent Veg and Non Veg Meals Thali.
