That was one hell of an experience.. That thali had everything i love. Delicious. THE BAHUBALI THALI. But i was irritated by seat management done by the supervisor. Very naive .

Complete Thali - It has both Veg & Non-Veg.
You would get to be informed about the stages and the sequence in which you could have it - to make it a complete meal.
Each and every dish was cooked with perfection. There is hardly anything you would find it in excess - be it oil, masala & spices.
Chicken & mutton were cooked so well that they almost melted in our mouth. They also have variety of goli soda apart from fresh lime juice.
Ambiance was pleasant. They have underground parking space for 2/4 wheeler. Restaurant is on the first floor & is spacious. Prior appointment would be good if you’re going on weekend as it is jam packed.
Best part about this Thali is, it is served even in the evening. You’ll be left with such a dilemma as to which one to eat since all of them taste real good.
Do not forget to try their special omelettes (the one which is stuffed with fish, mutton & chicken).
A great place to hang out with ,to treat your family members & friends.

Ponnusamy is a go-to for me when I want South Indian food. My top favourites are the Meals and the Biriyani. I also love the Fish Fry and Mutton Chukka. Also tried out the Huge Thali with friends. Was a fun Experience.

Ponnusamy's food has never disappointed me. They maintain their quality of food. First time when we visited we tried their thaali, it's a total package, treat for your tummy as well as for your eyes! All the dishes were yummy. Second time we visited we were confused about what to order and their manager Abdul suggested us Pichi potta chicken and it was lit. It's a must try. He was really helpful and friendly. Fish tikka masala was so yummy, we loved it's gravy. Along with the quality of the dishes the quantity was also up to the mark! Chicken fried rice was really tasty, the chicken chunks in it was really huge and juicy! Garlic Naan was fluffy and soft. Chicken drumstick was served hot and was really crispy.
Ponuswamy is my dream place to have non-vegetarian. The best chicken I have ever had in my life. I have been visiting this place for years, nothing has changed. Please do try out their Bahubali Thali!!!! Value for money at its best.

After hearing a lot about it on social media, we finally got a chance to try out the massive thali served at Ponnusamy Hotel - nungambakkam. This thali is humongous, is made up of close to 50 items. It's so big that it needs 2-3 people to carry it to the table.
It has a plethora of options, multiple varieties of rice ranging from plain rice, curd rice, lemon rice, pulao, chicken biryani,mutton biryani. Then coming to the curries it had chicken curry, mutton curry, fish fry, prawns and vegetarian curries as well.
This is one thali you should try when in Chennai. Priced at 1699 + taxes this is a once in a lifetime experience.
All the items on the thali tasted great and it took3 of us to nearly finish the meal.

Everybody keeps talking about this Thali. It’s good - as good as Sangeetha’s unlimited meals. I’m comparing the unlimitedness of the food that you get and the choices too. Waiters are non-hesitant to bring us stuff - end of the day, everyone is happy.

I tried the biggest thali they had and it was exciting for us and it's worth the experience and the food you get. We four shared the food and we were not full, but we felt like we had sufficient food.
Chennai's biggest thali as the name suggests was very big indeed. They did not compromise on the taste and quality. The mutton kolaurundai the biryani ( chicken mutton and Veg) was good. More than sufficient for 3 adults. Need yo try again

We went hetr for the BAAHUBALI THAALI...
Everything in the item was good..
Especially the chicken and mutton chukka..
Kola urundai.. And fish fry had their own charm.
The mutton biriyani was better than the chicken biriyani.
MUTTON gravy was also better than chicken gravy..
It was limited.. But gravy can be got extra on request.
We four people went and we weren't full..
May be that depends on the apeteite of people u take 😉😉
They say they allow 3 or 4 people to share one THAALI which 1699... But we could see groups of 5/6 also who were sharing a single THAALI...
At the end we finished it with Goli Soda.. Which was available in three flavours.. Lemon pineapple and Panneer... Leomin and Panneer were good.. Pineapple was confused.. Kinda mixture of pineapple and orange taste giving us confusions of good and bad.
I had the gulab jamoon as last, so was praying that it should not be bad.. And it was like I thought..very good..
So
On conclusion for a one time try it's very good...

One of the best Thali ever had with different variety. Must try from Ponnusamy hotel Nungambakkam, Chennai.
This contains both Non-Veg and Veg, which includes fried, semi gravy and gravy items.
Non-Veg : Chicken, Mutton, Fish and Egg - Chicken and Mutton gravy with fried one was really mouth watering, good taste. Must try Mutton and Chicken.
Veg : This has usual Sambar, Rasam, Curd which includes Variety rice and white rice. This is real good in taste. Curd rice can be improved but Sambar and Rasam was in real good taste.
Apart from this both Chicken and Mutton Biriyani was good in taste.
Finally its worth for a money, can be taken by 4 members. Cost is around 1800 Rs.
Ambiance is not so good, rating for this would be only 2.5/5

We booked the hotel for 2 PM. We reached the hotel at 1:45 PM. The restaurant was very crowded. We have waited for 15 minutes then we got the table. Then we waited for 20 minutes for the food. The staffs are polite and nice.
Highlight of the Bahubali meals.
1. Chicken and mutton Biriyani tastes okay but quantity was less.
2. Pochipotta kozhi tastes delicious.
3. Mutton Kola was good but could be better.
4. Seer fish fry was awesome.
5. Parota, chappathi and naan are served cold.
6. Chicken and mutton curry tastes okay. Fish curry could be better.
7. Gulab jamun tastes so good.
8. Nethili fry also very pleasant taste.
9. Variety rices are okay.
10. White rice could be more as it cease when I want to eat with butter milk.
We as a family came to try their South India's Biggest Thali at 1700 bucks. And we were quite sad to know that this Thali needs to be pre booked and I was even more sad when the people at our neighbouring table was have that big Thali.
But we opted for normal briyanis and gravies.
The most try is their Mutton Brain Fry. An ecstasy to be honest. The texture was soft and need not bite, they would just slip down the mouth. Kaadai biryani was as usual good.
But the mutton chukka was bit more oily than usual.
P.S Go early so that there would be difficult for parking. And pre book ur Thali.

My 300th Restaurant Review, dedicated to Ponnusamy Hotel. One of the oldest hotels in Chennai started in the year 1954 started a small mess in Gowdia Mutt Road Royapettah, Mr Annadurai Chief Minister inspired by the taste of the food he invited the owner of Ponnusamy to start a hotel inside the MLA hostel in Mount Road. Mr.Pattukotai Kalyanasundaram, famous poet quoted that “Ponnusamy soor Iruka poveno Chennai ai vittu”
Quite an interesting history, their new branch is operating in Nungambakkam, Jagannathan Road near Sterling Road junction. Nice interiors, good service and food tasted great. Went around 12.30 pm on Saturday and the hotel was almost full. Ordered Non-Veg Meals and Mutton Pirattal. Non Veg meals include Rice(Unlimited), Poriyal, Kuttu, Mutton, Chicken and Fish Gravy, Sambar, Rasam and Appalam. Meals cost Rs.159/-. Great Value for Money.
After a long time tasted Goli Soda and the costs astonished me, as they charge Rs.45/- which was toooo high. When a Pepsi, Coke, Bovanto costs Rs.10/- for a local drink they are charging 4 times the high price.
This hotel is a must try for everyone.

In Introducing Biggest thali in Chennai .. ponnusaamy hotel has quite made a decent effort to give justice to the name.. I loved all the non veg items and briyani served was tastyyy.. though I felt that veg items ( variety rice ) provided were actually unnecessary and didn't go well with the thali .. It's worth the experience .. and 4 adults will be able to finish the thali.. where we (3adults) weren't able to finish.. Get ur gang and go for it 😎

No doubt that it deserves 5 stars. My craving for chettinad food brought me to this restaurant which specialises in chettinad cuisines. I ordered fish fry, prawn masala, mutton sukka & fish fry (all chettinad style). Fish fry was average and was not worth the price. Prawn masala was too good and mutton sukka had really distinctive taste. Fish curry was also but but not spicy. Waiter was courteous enough to give extra bowl of rice too. Other staffs were polite and friendly as well. The restaurant has a kids play area also. Altogether, food was very satisfactory and hunger for chettinad dishes was finally fulfilled. Will visit again for sure.
Went out for trying their new thali which's a mixed of Various Non veg & Veg items already in their Menu Upto 4 are allowed to eat this but only limited quantity 😞 The quality and Taste of the food Remains the same but it was a new experience of trying it , and it was Good

We went last sunday to have the biggest thali in Chennai for lunch. Me, hubby and my kids :). Need to book a day in advance, we arrived dot on time and had to wait for about 10 min before we were seated. The thali took about 20 min to arrive, and at the outset we were overwhelmed by sheer array of dishes. Two briyani, white rice, 5 veg variety rice, 3 egg preparations (boiled, omellete and burji), 1 fish fry, shark puttu, prawn fry, nethili fry, 2 chicken fry, 2 mutton fry, fish, chicken and mutton gravies an array of veg gravies, two sweets (jamun, gajar halwa). They promised quantity and it was there, quality it could improve. For the sheer spectacle this is a one-time visit for sure. The hostess was very kind and they were very thoughtful to have a play area for the kids.
Not bad. Their 'biggest thali' is one for the books. Tasty, filling and a joy to share with family. We just had a gala time picking and choosing between all that's on offer. Every dish tastes equally good and at a great price too. It's perfect for maybe 5 people. We were 4 adults and a child and we couldn't finish it.

This ponnusamy restaurant is actually a historical hotel which has its story over dhan 70 years , but anyhow the food I ordered was mostly starters and it was not that good , the food here is okay but for the price we give them is too high so that food there is not that much great , buy anyways if you need to eat in a good atmospheres this place is okay
Can visit the hotel for Baahubali Thali. Felt the other items on the menu were slightly overpriced. Thali was decent with so many varieties. Most gravies were a tad too much spicy.
Can finish the thali if all four are decent eaters, else you are going to end up pushing the food around. We had to wait for more than 45 mins for our thali, which was a bit demanding.
Service person were pretty much average, nothing special or extraordinary about them. Will never suggest for a regular visit. Try once Just for the thali. Else it's just overrated.
Visited for 50 items babhubali thali. The waiting period is high. Actually there is no enthusiasm from staff in serving their special dish. Reach by 12:30 if u want your thali be served by 1:30 PM. Half the items are good and other half are average. Now the price is 2500 plus 5% GST. Felt the thali is worth around 1500.

with 44-inch size steel serving plate containing, 50 non-vegetarian and vegetarian dishes, which include 1 Soup, 3 Biryani, Fried rice, Noodles, different types of rice main dishes, chicken, mutton, sura puttu, Prawns, Omlette, Parotta, …with authentic South Indian style food. Cost Rs2600/- 4 person will share it sufficiently. A must try at least once where one can taste 50 plus dishes in a si gle time. Week ends are normally crowded. Ambience, Hygiene, care for customer are fabulous. Nicely cut Banana leaf in banana leaf model steel plate for all. This hotel started in 1954 as a small mess in Chennai. The Ponnusamy hotel prepared Chettinad dishes where food was prepared under his strict supervision who himself is an excellent cook. All the recipes, including the ones that are used till date are known to be his inventions. In no time the name and taste spread like a wildfire all over Chennai.
Went to try their bahubali meals. Cost about INR 2600 for per thali set.
About 3-4 pe6can share the thali.
In my opinion , the thali set is not worth the price. The non-veg item are too little and frankly does not worth the price.

Went for Sunday lunch luckily reached around 12:15 so restaurant was decently occupied we left around 12:45 and it was almost getting full . We tried egg biryani, veg biryani and mutton sukka . Good food way of serving was good . Portion size was good for price . Staff was always available to help . Ambience is like a very regular restaurant but on walls they have some old days utensil to show like coconut scrapper , brass steamer etc.. nice place for some good Tamil style food.
Ponnusamy Hotel serves tasty Non vegetarian Meals with highlight of keera kootu and chicken curry. Then their vanjaram fry, brain fry and nattu kozhi kozhambu worth to be tasted. Their play area needs maintenance. Their customer service was excellent. Overall the visit was nice.
The bahubali Thali was amazing. Top notch. The service was excellent headed by Mr. Gulzar. The ambiance however looks like it needs renovating.
We have ordered veg meals, chilli Gobi and mushroom. Meals is ok, chilli Gobi and mushroom is good but they have taken almost one hour to provide the food which is really frustrating.. they have not given meals also on time.

I visited this place for the 2nd time in a span of 3 years.
So, if you are going to have any of the 2 Thali, do call them the day before you visit this place.
Reservation is must for Thali!!!📞
And, they will allow only 4 per Thali (that is less than or equal to 4)
But, I reserved for Thali in the morning of my visit, as we were not sure of the plan till morning.
So, they will allow you till morning for reservation.
Usually more crowded during weekends.
