First time I went to place with my family and tried buffet...it was yummy and so many varieties. Started with starter paneer tikka and Manchurian very crispy..in main course I liked Dal Markhani and mix vegetable, and then we ordered for some extra drinks..and tried Paan Milk shake and lemon ginger it was the best ..my taste buds can feel the taste of ginger in every sip..overall good experience I will visit this place again and again :)

Buffet at 499 gives a good variety of dishes. Good for coming in groups. Starters are best among the entire platter. In the main course, the Kulcha is one of the best you can try!

I have went this place thrice. Jain food especially they made it awesome. Live counters for pasta Pani poori ice cream. Staffs are friendly and you can get place anytime mostly. The place offers so much feel and affiliation. Ambience adds up to your thoughts and the experience that you would cherish by visiting the place. At 499/ the buffet is the best and easily 2x the value. The vintage ambience, Posters, lighting, chair all adds up to an unique experience and a thought to visit the place multiple times. The options of food range is wide right from the starters to the dessert. The service rendered is also great pointing at the attention and reception of guests. I would say, a must visit place with family and loved ones.

Went with my friends. Ambience is good and the food served by them also too good. Really liked the paneer starter and tomato basil leaves soup. Kids liked hot gulab jamoon very much. Jain style Dum biryani yummy. Jain food was awesome and they have many Jain items in the buffet. Good place and good food..worth the money
After visiting 1947 in Bangalore I had waited for a very long time for them to launch their outlet in Chennai and they opened it some months ago and it took some time for me to visit this place... 1947 is located in Khadar Nawaz Khan road on the left side near Orange Wok.. The buffet cost 499 per head on Sundays...They serve you 2 varieties of Soup 4 starters 4 main course 2 types of rice and noodles white rice rasam curd rice and 4 varieties of Salad 3 types of desserts and 4 varieties of Ice Cream... Their Corn Noodle soup was really good with their Gobi 65... Their beetroot Halwa was top notch it was the best I had in the recent times... Overall a very good and worthy place for 499 per head... Their ambience was very calm and peaceful..Hope it gets more popular and open more outlets...If not for service I would have given a 5 star

I went with family to this place for the second time after not very good experience in the first time.
In the starters we had the below.
Manchow soup : it was good, the flavours were perfect.
Sholley Panner tikka: the panner was well marinated and properly cooked, this is one of the must try dish from their menu.
The crispy golden corn was good.
In the main course we had Panner laziz and Miloni tarkari with kulcha and butter roti, I must say the Miloni tarkari is also one of the must try in main course.
The taste of Panner laziz was also good.
The tawa pulav served tasted just okay, nothing great about it.
In the dessert we had sizzling brownie, which gave good finish to our meal.
The manager, Ashish was very courteous and welcoming.

Overall it was great experience visiting this place for the second time.

Went on a Sunday evening and surprised that it was not crowded at all. Place is done up pretty well, reasonably sized restaurant. Seating was comfortable. They have many options for each course and can be customized to suit Jain style. Food tastes very good and the staffs are well informed and explain patiently. The service is quick and efficiently done. Picing is at par with other restaurants and the portions served is justified. Overall a good experience.

Heard about this new place famous for Vegetarian buffet. Decided to take my family here for lunch. They usually charge ₹399 per head but since it was Jan 1 they jacked up the buffet price to ₹499.
This is a themed restaurant with 1947 type interiors like spin wheel, switches , bronzewares etc., They have put in a lot of thought into it so that right from the hand wash area till the bill box comes with that 1947 feel. So much detailing. Great work there. 👏🏽
The menu was compact and catchy. Not too much, not too less. The place was full within minutes after we arrived.
Soups: Both of them were very good. The cheese in tomato soup was edible and fresh and the manchow soup was fresh and spicy, too apt for this weather.
Starters: Since they were expecting a huge crowd they requested us to help ourselves with the starters. A good decision. Instead of wasting time on the second serving of starters (which happens in almost all buffets) we were able to save more time and food by having just what we wanted.
Babycorn salt and pepper and Hara bhara kabab were tasty. Paneer tikka was a bit let down.
Salads: All salads were tasty unlike other restaurants. Had one good round with that.
Main course: Both paneer labardar and sabzi panchatra were delicious. They went well with the rotis-naans-kulchas and the tawa pulao.
Jeera rice and dal butter fry were a decent combo.
Veg Hakka noodles was dry and spicy. Everyone liked it as that was the most frequently refilled dish in the entire buffet.
Chaat: Pani poori and papdi chat were perfect.
Live pasta counter: White and red. Ingredients used like (broccoli, zucchini, oregano, thyme and salt) were common for both. Only difference were the sauces. I liked the red one more.
Desserts: Carrot Halwa was good. Semiya kheer delicious and Gulab jamun with that perfect solid consistency. They served a Bengali sweet which was decent. 👍🏽
Four varieties of ice cream - mango, chocolate, vanilla and strawberry. Chocolate was the best of the lot. Just how a chocolate ice cream must taste.
Paneer dominated their menu as we found at least one paneer dish in salads (2), starters (1) and main course (1).
Staff were very humble. They even came up to me and told “Sir, if there was any issue with the food or service we apologize. Due to heavy crowd we may have not been up to your expectations.” They have the intent to amuse the customer in every possible way.
Decent food, reasonable price, good service, great ambience. Overall a pleasant experience. Great place to visit with family. If they improve food taste slightly (no doubts on quality) to be on par with their interiors this can be yet another crowd puller for a very long time. Doesn’t mean their food tastes bad !
Paid ₹2495 in all for 5 people.
Ever since the dhabas in Chennai went down the drain in terms of quality, I have been searching for an affordable North Indian buffet and I am glad I have found 1947! The food was simply delicious and the paneer tikka was brilliant! Wonderful food at affordable prices, what more do we want?
On the day of Christmas 25-Dec-2018, we were around 15 members reached hotel at 3.15pm which is the closing time for most of the hotels. We requested the hotel manager for taking the final order and serve food and he was so kind and gentle and agreed to take the complete order at once. Food and service is very good and staff were also kind. Taste of food is delicious. Quantity is also satisfying. Ambience is very nice. Would love to visit again.
Amazing place for a vegetarian north indian cuisine , buffet gives the taste of their quality .... There was not a single item which was bad...all were amazingly delicious and true taste... Service here is mind blowing - all of them are very very courteous.... I guess all the items like the cream, panner, Ice cream are made by themselves and not purchased...

The ambience was just perfect. The service there is really good. We felt like we had asli North Indian khana. The Indian curries tasted very authentic. We had paneer kothamari kofta, diwani handi and kadai babycorn along with cheese harimirch roti and they were very tasty! For starters we had crispy corn chilly. The quantity is very satisfying. Should visit again.

We celebrated our grandmother’s birthday at 1947. The experience was great. We were greeted by Mr Utpal the manager and Mr Tulshidas the captain recommended quite a few starters which were great and took very good care of us. Overall the experience at 1947 was great. Hope to visit the place soon.

Had been to this place twice in the past week. One was for lunch and yesterday we had a family get together of around 40pax. Totally worth the money. All of our family members loved the food. Was pretty impressed with their service. Would recommend this place for family parties especially for pure vegetarians.

Was difficult to find the place but it is situated in a nice building with spacious parking. Got to know that it’s been there for more than a year. The ambience is really nice going along with the theme 1947. The staff were friendly and attentive and food arrived early also. Tried the tomato soup, masala papad, crispy vegetables starter, butter naan and paneer tikka labador. Taste wise no complaint. Price is a bit on the higher side.
1947 is the best place in chennai for buffet. The price for the buffet is just 399rs which includes alot of amazing stuff as well as 3 to 4 desserts, live counter for pani puri , which feels great.

I had kept my Child's first birthday party here on the 21st of July, and it was the best decision ever ! the food was brilliant the staff and service awesome and the value for money was the icing on the cake. The Paneer tikka and the malai kofta was my fav after the veg Biriyani ! I really recommend this place for everyone who like Indian food, jain options are plenty for ppl who prefer jain diet. The hotel employees were dressed in traditional Indian wear... Best veg buffet I've had in a long time. Family restaurant. Starters were so good and If u like North Indian food, don't miss this place. Buffet costs only 399/- and it was worth every paise paid. Ambience is so gud.

Great ambience that resonates the theme of independence era India. Good parking space, and situated in a posh locality. It may be a bit tricky to identify 1947 from the road as it is somewhat tucked in a complex.
Food was superb. The Soups, 4 starters, 4 main course items, salads, Indian breads, desserts were simply fantastic value for money. I'm not able to single out any dish that wasn't ok. Service quality was equally pleasant.
Obviously, given the value for money, this place can get crowded. So be mindful of when you choose to visit. We were lucky to visit on a day when the place was half empty!

Awesome ambience. Food was also good. The buffet cost us Rs.450 ( all inclusive) and we got 10% discount for group. Buffet menu included 2 soup, 3 starters, salads, roti varieties, noodles, fried rice varieties, 4 side dishes, 2 sweets, 3 ice creams and 2 chat items. Had option of group to sit together.
