This hotel is famous in Chinese dishes I like the dal kichdi one of my favourite dishes which I eat
We paid 220 per person for buffet, and the food was worth every single penny paid . Taste was awesome and very very cost efficient. Ambience has to be improved a little, other than that , this restaurant is a must preferable one.

The meet with a friend through Facebook has been due for long. Surprisingly he has tried this hotel and suggested it to me for dinner (Ala Carte, as buffet was worst there). Headed to this place with him and we got the seats as did the MLA’s during the elections. No room for waiting. This part of TTK Road comes under Royapettah to my knowledge and the road next to this hotel is the ever famous Avvai Shanmugam Salai and it was Crazy Mohan’s birthday a few days back. Nice!
We didn’t want to go with the soup as it’s always becomes a templated dinner. Direct starters. Paneer is all I need today and we banged on it.
1. Paneer Shanghai Dry – INR 130/-
Paneer roasted to some extent and put into the onion capsicum mix. This makes a good starter and we started talking the things that were dated two years back. Wow! The talk with your friends just lifts your spirits and feels fresh.
2. Achari Paneer Tikka – INR 180/-
After my Pind episode, I wanted to try out Paneer Tikka to see if you get the same taste elsewhere. No. Not at all. Pind is always Pind. Period. This tasted good and I felt the cost is slightly higher than it should have been. Served with pudhina chutney & raw onions nicely cut. Tomatoes are okay-ly cut. Tasted good but pricey.
3. Phulka – INR 20/-
The only item that’s priced correctly in the order. Wanted to try out just a normal phulka without any oil and butter. People think this is another way of reducing weight. Dudes, seriously no. Unless you close your mouth before you take the food, the weight won’t reduce. Good! (He ordered pudhina paratha)
4. Stuffed Capsicum – INR 200/-
Thoroughly overpriced. Paneer particles are mixed with the masala and placed inside the capsicum touching its inner walls. Wow! This tasted heavenly. Excellent dish that goes with breads as well as the rice. By far the best I have had in a while in the stuffed series.
5. Schezwan Fried Rice – INR 120/-
Always wanted to try this but missed it a lot of times. Hence tried this and finally it tasted good. Not too spicy or too sweet. This has the right mix of spice and the amount was good enough for 2 people. I had about 3/4ths of it and he had the remaining. Along with the stuffed Capsicum this went inside too!
The bill came to INR 700/- and the prices are GST inclusive. Do try this place when you cross Avvai Shanmugam Salai/Music Academy. Do show some love by following my instagram - @epomesoruthan
It was a swiggy order,
1.Veg makhanwala
2.Veg Dum Briyani
3.Hyderabad Briyani
4.Panner Shanghai Dry
5.Dragon Gobi
6.North Indian Thali
#Veg makhani was absolutely mouthwatering that its taste was absolutely tasty,it has more vegetables along with panner which i usually prefer .
Perfect Gravy
#Veg dum briyani was as usually, vegetables was less and it doesn't suits the theme dum.
It has Average taste.
#Hyderabad briyani was good with more panner and little vegetables, good taste actually.
#Panner Shanghai Dry was excellent ,it taste great .Its flavours and ingredients was used well.
Excellent Taste
#Dragon Gobi was Good starter that i have ordered so far compared to Other Restaurants.
#North Indian Thali was excellently sorted from starters to gravy. It has Gobi dry which was average,Gulab Jamun was also average, veg gravy and dal fry was astonishing and finally jeera rice was good though.
I Conclude that Navrang is excellent restaurant for North Indian Foodies where they will fulfill your Hunger with their Tasty Foods
Visited on a Wednesday for veg lunch buffet.Place was empty. Soup was served on table. Gobi Manchurian was served as starter which was superb. Other items includes rice, Dal,Sambar,Curd Rice,Paneer Masala and Veg Kuruma. Strawberry ice cream and gulab Jamie served on table in the end.
It's definitely must try for 180 rs.best low cost veg buffet in city. Can't expect better for this price.
good. expected more raita
Awesome. Liked all the items. My go to place to beat hunger
Went there for dinner and tried their buffet. The cost of the buffet was very reasonable Rs 180 and the items given were one soup(Tomato),a starter(Gobi manchurian),Roti/Naan and three side dishes(one with paneer, the other one was dal),veg noodles, fried rice ,vegetable biryani, gulab jamun and ice cream(vanilla)..
*The soup was very sweet after adding lots of pepper it tasted better.
*Gobi Manchurian was really good except that had it been hot it would have been more tastier. They replaced with hot ones only when we were about to leave the restaurant.
*Naan/Roti was soft
*All the sides dishes, fried rice and biryani were good.
*Gulab Jamun needs a special mention..It was too good but only one piece will be served as a part of buffet
*Vanilla ice -cream was served
One suggestion is had they kept the name of the dishes near it ,it would have been better..Apart from that for the price it was good and tasty!!
good quality and very tasty.. must try
The dinner buffet was good and had decent options for 180Rs.
You get soup, starter, 3 gravys, noodles, pulao and fried rice, naan, roti, icecream with gulad jamun.
My rating here is based on the food provided for the cost. Dont compare it with the buffet provided by other restaurants.if you want to try some North indian style buffet at low cost then i wojlf suggest Navrang
Excellent taste and fast delivery
The best buffet one could offer for the cost...But the rotis are bit dry....The starters are available only on Weekends and the gulab jamun and chocolate ice cream are the best that you could get somewhere in the city
North Indian food is really fantastic here
Perfect place for North Indian varieties
It was quite awesome... And your service is good
The place is easy to locate but the locality around the restaurant does not seem very clean. It would be disappointing for people visiting the restaurant if they do not get a clean atmosphere while entering a place so it would be better if management takes this into concern.
Having said that, this is the only disadvantage of this restaurant. Tried both alacarte and buffet here and both were really satisfying.
Dinner buffet had a good spread as mentioned below. Soup, starter, dessert keeps changing while others are the same and taste was really good.
Soup - hot and sour
Starter - baby corn fry
Breads - roti, naan
Gravy - paneer butter masala, mixed veg paneer gravy, dal
Rice - veg fried rice, mixed veg pulao
Noodles
Sweet - lauki halwa
Ice cream - mango
Coming to alacarte, tried garlic naan, kulcha, roti, paneer pasandha - it was very different and quantity was more for than what we expected, chilly paneer fried rice was too good, it is a must try for paneer lovers. Soups were good too.
Overall, at an affordable price, quick and friendly service, simple ambience this place is a treat for North Indian menu lovers. Being a pure vegetarian restaurant, it has a really good variety and taste and it would not be disappointing if you try it once!
Rating it as 3.5, only because the outside ambience was disappointing else would have given it a 4 or higher.
Ordered food from Swiggy and was fairly satisfied with the food. The Kebab Biryani, Fired Rice and Pulao were pretty decent for the cost. The Veg Manchurian balls item was pretty good too. Paneer Jalfraize was okish. Packing was pretty decent and surprisingly hot thanks to the delivery guy! Recommended if you want standard food at a decent cost.
We went for lunch and opted for buffet which is on the 1st floor.
Its an A/C restaurant with decent staff. Ambience wise its okay but food is really tasty for the price you pay(specially jeera rice and dal).
You can try if you are looking for cheaper and tasty north-indian food in Chennai.
I ordered north indian thali online..it was delivered on time and packing was also gud. Still the curd and salad was missing..taste was gud..bt quantity was less
This is a joint which I visit very often.
I love this because of its affordable north indian food. After moving to Chennai, it's the only place I could find near my place which does not burn a hole in pocket in case if the requirement is for the typical north indian food.
Talking about the restraunt, it's an AC hotel having courteous staff. Buffet is for ₹150 on a weekday & ₹170 on the weekends. But the buffet is totally worth the money. This deal includes a decent menu along with dessert. What else can you expect in 150 bucks! Though it doesn't seem to have a good incoming of people but I personally like the food here.
People looking for affordable north Indian food can try this place.
Had a lunch buffet here. Very limited quality pur veg buffet. Small restaurant. Thank God, we went on time, so we got a seat. I would have given 5 out 5 if the curd rice was tasty, their service level was better, car parking etc., Of course buffet you will not get papad, but rasam is available. Surely all pure veg guys can try this veg buffet. Roti is super. Pricing is very affordable.
Came here for dinner buffet. They didn't have that many dishes but whatever was there was really good. Beetroot halwa was the best. Dinner was filling and satisfied with their service.
Unlimited Vegetarian Buffet at rs 119/- This is unbelievable when my colleagues told me.Well I had to go personally and check if that really is.
This place is a nightmare for four wheelers as the resto is at the center of the royapettah junction. Two wheelers can somehow manage and park it aside.
Well. Enter Navrang.
Ambience is decent, not messy and all. Air Conditioned. The baby corn soup starter was very good. I did not like the Gobi Gravy as it was a little sweet. The fried rice was very good.Chose Gulab Jamun over ice cream as a finishing touch.
I am rating this place high as definitely there is a value for money.
Great place to have a pocket friendly lunch buffet. A decent ambiance and calm on weekdays. Two wheeler /Four wheeler parking is a problem here.

Unlimited good food at such rate! This place made my day. It might not be in the posh part of town nor have the nicest of ambience, but it is not bad at all. When i went, it was pretty quiet. It is a small place but can accommodate quite a crowd. The only problem might be parking though.
The food started off with hot and sweet soup which was a little spicy and got me hiccups a couple of times. For starters, there was gobi manchurian, which i've not had in many places in Chennai, and they did a good job with it's preparation. The only down side being that it was tad dry and got cold over time. For main course, there was a paneer gravy and a mix veg gravy. The paneer one was a little bland and could use some spices. There were 2 options in bread, naan and roti, and they make it fresh for you so it is hot and doesn't feel like rubber. In rice, there was jeera rice served with dal fry and that was good as well. This is just the north indian cuisine. There were some south indian items as well which i didn't try. For dessert, there was gulab jamun with ice cream. This is definitely a place i will visit again.
Taste : 3.5/5 ; Ambiance : 3.5/5 ; Service : 3.5/5 ; VFM : 4/5
Located on the right end of ttk road...right at the junction from where royapettah high road takes over...this is a complex that houses 2 restaurants..no idea if they are from the same management...but this particular restaurant is located on the first floor...the outside looks might make you feel like any other normal restaurant....situated in a busy junction the parking also is a big problem here...I have mostly visited on foot so have no idea about exact parking facilities but from the looks of it..has zero parking..
The interiors are completely opposite to the exteriors...the place is more like a fine dining restaurant with some good dining space...perfectly cooled and well maintained..calm and secluded giving a peaceful dining experience....
Thanks to my uncle who lives just a street away we have visited this place around a dozen times...mostly on foot...most of the times its the thali we order...the service is always good..no problems faced til now..except that waiting time for a la carte is on the higher side..
North indian thali (rs140) : includes soup, naan and a side dish, fried rice and couple of side dishes and a dessert...for the price the taste and quantity of the food is absolute vfm....north indian is what they specialize in and they definitely deliver it...
South indian thali : A regular south indian thali..better known as executive meal...with rice, rasam, sambar, gravy, 2 kootu, 1 poriyal, appalam, sweet, roti and dhal...its pretty average stuff..nothing to talk great about...
The food is tasty..variety is good...quantity also is great...and with pricing being nominal...the place is worth a shot...
A North Indian branch of the very famous rajeswari (south indian ) on the ground floor. The south indian will be mostly crowded from 12-1.30 and so once we planned to try the other. The place is so different from the one below as it fully air conditioned, isolated and peaceful.
The buffet was 140 and it was amazing for a regular working day buffet. It started with soup and went to naan/ chapathi and then to the main course which included gobi, dhal, fried rice, and other dishes and it ended with ice cream/ gulab jamun.
It was more than what could asked for a 140 bucks buffet.
Price: 3/5 Ambiance: 3.5/5 Food: 3.5/5 Service: 3.5/5
As month end begins at the same time my taste buds longed for a buffet surfed zomato for a pocket friendly restaurant which provides buffet with moderate price...as i surfed got this place, seen the reviews which gave a positive tone about this place.based on reviews visited navrang today for lunch buffet and they told as it is christmas they are providing spl festive buffet.so chosen festive spl buffet which cost 210 per head and normal buffet cost 160 per head which is very very nominal.coming to the place outside appear to be small but once u get inside it is moderate and buffet section is situated at the first floor.ambience is decent and clean, comfortable seating arrangement and spacious.parking alone there is no sufficient and exclusive parking.coming to food according to the price limited dishes were there.for a normal buffet there were 7 dishes and for festive buffet extra dishes like panner tikka, spl cake were given.deserts and former said extra dishes were given limited while the rest of the dishes were unlimited.other dishes were gobi fry, aloo mutter gravy(potato and peas),veg gravy with tiny diced cottage cheese was mixed, seasoned dal, rasam, veg fried rice, plain rice, curd rice, pickle and appalam was kept.all the dishes tasted good but nothing extraordinary......dhal and rasam were mediocre.deserts were limited but tsated good.cake was very juicy and delicious....coming to service there were only two guys but managed well.place was not much crowded today.on the whole pocket friendly and worth the money .a place of pacifying your hunger..........
One amazing pocket friendly place. After watching a movie at Royapettah, this was the first place we could find. We were a little hesitant to go for the dinner buffet due to the extremely cheap cost, but it was truly amazing. I loved every bit of it. It started off with soup, starters and then kicked into the main dishes, Naan, fried rice and noodles. There were three side dishes. It ended with chocolate ice cream and beetroot halwa. It made my day. A definite place to visit in Chennai.
We were looking for a buffet at a very low cost nd finally got this one.. 've been to Punjabi dhaba. But Navrang edges it out in all aspects.. Too much for the money.. 😇
This restaurant feels like second home. Vegetatrian restaurant with awesome service and some amazing food. There are roughly 11 or 12 dishes unlimited for your taste buds and they are yummy. To put it in a simple sentence like my friend from north India " pura paisa vasool " its one of those places where you get good food and its not over prized.

Who gives you 11 varieties of food, unlimited for a meager 139 bucks in the virgin capital of India?!? And the food here tastes decent as well! They serve rotis hot! Noodles with its own Chinese sauce, vegetable rice (which tasted extremely bland without its side dish), paneer vegetable gravy (or what ever so, PS it tasted really very good), and a scoop of vanilla ice cream and two gulabs. All this for 139/- !!

I went almost 2-3 times every week for dinner during my stay in Royapettah! One of the best places for vegetarian food lovers. North Indian food is almost like in north India :D
And the prices quite reasonable! Couldn't find a better place for regular eating (Me being a bachelor!). Ambience is nice too. Do try the buffet. It's impressive :)
The four star is definitely not for the food. ;-) The food was ok and the ambience was good. Had to kill a few hours in royapettah so entered this place at 11.30 for lunch :-P. They were like, sir the food isn't ready, it'll take an hour or so. And i was like, i just need a place to sit back and kill time. ;-) And there i was, the only person in the place reading a book in a ac hall and having French fries till 12.30 B-) Thanks admin.
It is the best place at its price... OMG the lunch buffet was amazingly good.. And yummy too.. ! The highlight was the gulab jamun and icecream which made it even delicious.. Good ambience with very good service.. Taste was awesome.. Must visit
Awesome food on this price for buffet. Throughly enjoyed. Good ambience and well behaved staffts. Has become my fav place. Went here for the first time and enjoyed a lot. Must visit place again
Every monday i become herbivore.... so i want to use dat day to explore veg restaurants...
I heard alot about dis restaurant.... many reviews... mentioned dey serve veg buffet for 80 /- ... and then 120... so on....
I knw only one restaurant which offers good veg buffet at 130 it s dhaba express...its my heavenly place bcoz of their unlimited hot jilebis in buffet....
So thought of tryng navrang to compare it with dhabba express..
Its easy to find dis place....
Its a small place with two floor... ground floor for ala carte... limited meals n othr menu... dis floor s of old wooden chair ... giving u a feel of perfect mess....
Second floor s exclusively for veg buffet.....
Their menu s vry precise.... veg manchuria... mixed veg curry... dal... grean peas... roti.. naan...sambar.. rasam.... curd rice..in d end a sweet n icecream single service
Ambience : not a themed one... got good comfortable cushions... air conditioned... fast service......
Veg manchuria s awesome.. i would giv it 5/5 .... and even mixed veg curry perfect match to naan... which are hot n soft...
Rest all are ok ok....
Ice cream n sweet served in d end....
Overall my verdict good restaurant if u want to try veg buffet....
But if u ask me to choose frm dhabba ecpress n navrang.. i choose dhabba express ( for jilebis ) its completely my opinion... but guys shld try navrang to experience the awesome of veg dish which s drawback in dhabba....
Excellent place excellent and delicious food excellent quality , excellent ambience.. Affordable price. All in all an excellent place to eat with family and friends.
Atlast a pending review after many weeks. Zomato never worked on ipad. After new layout everything is spoilt. Now they have asked me to write reviews through app. Guess zomato usage should be reviewed by foodies :-).
Coming to Navrang wanted a pure vegetarian restaurant that is value for money in and around royapettah.
A few reviews of thalis in Navrang made it to my wish list.
A surprising advert of buffet for Rs. 99 was enticing.
AMBIENCE- Location- On the junction of Lloyds road music academy road.
First floor neat ambience. Small place with chair and sofas with decent AIRCON. Buffet counter at end of the dining area. 3/5
FOOD-
Soup- sweet corn soup- ok in taste.
Starter- baby corn starter- nice taste bit oily.
Roti or naan- served on the table
Gravy- aloo mutter- nice in taste.
Main course-
Rice
Dhal
Sambar- brinjal sambar- nice in taste
Rasam- good in taste
Poriyal/ veggie- potato fry good in taste.
Appalam- unlimited
Curd
Pickle
Vanilla ice cream
Overall a good meal at 99- 3.5/5
SERVICE- Just 2 waiters to serve 30
Odd diners. People had to wait during peak lunch hour around 1.30 for refill of buffet counters. Even curds were not refilled properly. 1.5/5
NEGATIVES- No parking for any kind of vehicle. Unless you are chauffer driven going in a car makes parking a hunt. Service is only in the books.
Good food and buffet is grt at 99....The service was spot on and dessert was good. Value for money and will come for sure. Hope they maintain this for ever.
A simple restaurant with a normal setting .. Food was nice .. But parking is a concern .. Went for an weekday lunch .. Overall a satisfied experience .
Idle place to be if you don’t like too much crowd and need little privacy. I had been here a couple of times food served here is delicious with quick service. The only reason I prefer this place is being quiet and calm, decent food and service as well as the pricing. I would suggest this place if you want to be private.
A good option for a quick meal. Nothing fancy or elaborate but has a decent spread. Serves primarily Indian cuisine. On the flip side, the service is quick. Both buffet and a-la-carte is available to choose from, during lunchtime. They custom cooked Jain food for me which won them some brownie points. Reasonably priced and pretty clean. On the flop side, no parking space is available. And yes, no non-veg too! Don't know whether that's exactly a minus though :)Meal for 2: INR 500.
Nice.calm and decent price
Navrang is quite close to where i work. When i haven't brought my lunch box and am very hungry, then this restaurant is top on my go to list. I have visited this place a couple of times and am very impressed with their north indian thali.
The thali has a good spread and the quantity is also good. You will feel quite full after your meal here. The thali has a couple of big rotis, a couple of side dishes, a dal, sweet, curd, some rice.
The price is reasonable, place well maintained, and the boys are prompt in service.
Probably during future visits would try other dishes and share my experience. Till then, do drop by for lunch and try their north indian thali!
I had taken dinner with my family here 3 times.
Peaceful location, Good delicious Food, Quick service, Reasonable rates are main reason to repeated dinning here and above all it is walk able distance from my place....
I would suggest to dine at this place...
Excellent food and ambiance, quick service, excellent hospitality
A sultry afternoon time, hunger pinching stomach and finding-out a new place was on the cards. But I may have to go a long way to find-out something new. But I never knew there is a good one nearby until a person suggested me. So started my expedition to trace-out the next best restaurant of my choice. I had thought of going to Rajeswari in the ground floor earlier, but the crowd inside dragged me upwards to Navrang.
When I stepped in, the place was totally deserted and one table was filled with four men talking about investments and stock markets. As soon as I found my table, a glass of water and a menu card reached me. Veg. pulav and Dal makhani was on the cards along with a beetroot halwa, but I also wanted a Roti or Naan, so without a second thought, I ordered a North Indian Thali.
It would've been hardly 5 minutes, my order was at the table. Two large size Rotis and a papad stood out of the plate while other dishes were in small cups. From left, Curd, Tomato soup, a gravy made out of Brinjal, another gravy filled with Paneer, beans etc., Dhal Fry and a Gobi-Potato Curry. The centre of the plate was reserved for a small bowl of Veg. Pulao.
A sweet would've added pleasure to my plate. But anyway still this would fill my stomach, I thought.
A small cup of Beetroot Halwa reached me with a spoon as soon as my thought process went that way. Hope the waiter caught my mind voice.
I began with a spoon of Halwa to make the meal pleasurable, followed by Tomato soup. Creamy, tasty and yummy with cream added. This was the best Tomato soup I ever had. Then I was puzzled what to start with. If at all am eating Pulao right now, my large size Rotis and papad would require a side plate to be reserved for the next round. But Pulao can wait rather than Rotis for some time. So I began munching the two Jumbo Rotis and finished off. Then I took two spoons of Halwa and balanced the spiciness.
Then I took the small bowl of Veg. Pulao, which was awaiting my attention. I turned the bowl upside downside in my plate and poured the cup of Dhal Fry and the remaining two gravies, half of which was enough for Two Jumbo Rotis.
At the end, I picked the cup of curd, which disappointed me to the core. Just a two spoon curd, I put it down and grabbed my balance Beetroot Halwa to end the meal happily.
Even though Rotis were good enough, a part of one of the two, seemed to be half cooked. And curd was a total disappointment. But overall I would give 10 on 10 for the place. The meal cost was average and not too high though. Thumbs up for the Ambiance and quick service. The best meal I ever had after a long time. I personally suggest this place for Vegetarians to have a peaceful dinner.
Good food! I liked it a lot.
Good quality and service. Especially roti and other veg tandoori items..
The quality of the food was awesome and we have gone there with our family and asked them to cook without onion and garlic and they also provided the food considering our requests. I loved the atmosphere a lot.
I went on a Saturday night with my mom and Dad. We ordered the weekend table buffet. The menu was Soup, Salad, Gobi, Kabab,Paneer butter masala Dal,Naan, Rice ,sweet and ice cream. It was an unlimited buffet and the service was incredible. The hotel ambience has been improved post-COVID , the kind of utensils they used to offer food were amazing. The buffet is worth the money and the best in town. Navrang is an ideal place to spend a weekend with family.
Reasonably priced. So itz the taste. ordered 17 meals from zomato for office. 16 north indian thali + 1 executive south indian meal. all are box meals. while coming, zomato guy spilled few gravy. that is the only issue. Otherwise, food is moderate, worth for the money.
Good hygiene and quality food service by navrang.
Best pricing and silent ambience, one of the excellent hotels I ever visited at Mylapore surroundings.
Went there for an unlimited dinner around 300 per person which is a complete package of all the items starting from starters to the ending dessert
Fully recommended for veg unlimited food lovers
Both service & quality has improved post COVID. Even the choice of variety has improved I.e. more items to choose. Price is also reasonable.
Food taste is very good and nice place really i had a nice experience.
Excellent food! Worth the money paid for buffet. Taste, price , quantity everything was too good.
If you are in chennai and you want to eat north Indian food. This restaurant is best. But the gravy taste is little bit sweet. Improve the spiciness in gravy
A little restaurant with a big heart.. the owner was a lovely gentleman that not only brought warmth to the place he went out of his way to get the coffee powder I requested.. lovely coffee and vegan menu... The waiters and service was super... Will definitely go back when I visit Gopalapuram again!
One of the excellent restaurants in all aspects visited in recent years
Good foods, only vehicle parking issues
No words to explain this place's food, i can bet you that you won't find this restaurant taste in any other 5 star hotels, I'm not doing promotion, but trust me and visit once you will feel it.. worth the money
Food is okay for the price.. buffet spread is ok for the price charged.. ambiance is ok but the waiters are a lil rude..
Quality & quantity is good but need to improve the services.
Visited on the very first day of opening. Lovely place with utterly delicious food.
Wonderful staff. Food with reasonable prices and a great taste.
