Surprised at the low rating for this place. Been here a couple of times and both times want disappointed. Love the spaciousness and the college canteen kind of atmosphere.
Tried the potato cheese sandwich and it's simple and yummy. In the burger, stuffing was good but the bun was a bit hard. The north Indian curries are quite tasty and the quantity is also good. Didn't like the chaats though.Overall total VFM.
Went here for a bit of light eating. We ordered grilled veg and cheese sandwich, veg tofu burger, mixed grill sandwich and veg nuggets. The veg and cheese sandwich was bland and boring. Other than that, everything was good. And the food was served fast.
Beware of mosquitoes when you go there!
Have been here more than 3 times, quite a nice location under the tree with a side parking. Good cheap dinner with Fried rice, North Indian gravy, Chappathi and Dosa too but strictly Veg.
Coffee is really good, starters Nuggets, French fries also didn't disappoint me.. Chaat items in the evening is one of their pluses.
Chilli cheese toast with potato chips was too spicy and wasn't served hot. And may be few improvements on service is also required.
Overall - An economical place for your evening talks, might get hit during summer but nonetheless, for the people who like natural air, can choose to spend time under this tree.
Nice place to have quick menu. Ordered limited started and chat menu. Order was taken and placed in just 10 mins. Taste proves the quality of the food. Has available g parking space. Will try one more time.
Under the Tree Cafe, name itself attractive. I used to see this place whenever I was heading koyambedu that way. Despite average review I thought of giving a try so went in for light snacks few weeks back.
This place is easy to locate. Parking is somewhat manageable in roadside. Not that easy though. Now it is covered with sheet. So we can't say it as under the tree anymore. Ambiance is ok. Bit noisy due to road traffic. Have few seating to sit and have.
Ordered mixed veg grill sandwich and sev poori. Service was decent but speed of delivery of food can be improved. Sandwich was good with apt crispiness of bread. Filling is also perfect. Sev poori looks awkward but tasty. Never seen sev poori like that. Even wondered whether they give something else by mistake. Nevertheless it was good.
Price is reasonable. Value for money. Better than I expected. Especially after reading so much average reviews. Can give a try.

But taste of north Indian food and chats were really good.

Our AL time favorite hangout after coll.. Whether v go to coll or not v go to utc without fail. It's one of the best hangout. Their aloo tikki burger, their chocolate milkshake, their mushroom 65 just priceless.
The cafe was nice and the food was also good. It was not too expensive also. So chilling out after the college is great over there. Some items like aalo tikky burger, chease sandwich and there special coffee are some of my daily stuffs and the are quite good.
Under the tree cafe is a like a street food shop. It's ambience is very calm though it's located on main road next to Srm campus. It's worth a visit Atleast once in 10 days. It's a place to be hang out with our small gang. U cannot sit for a long time as the place is small u have to vacate the tables immediately after I finish eating. The service is not good it's very poor but still the taste and cost is so good. The juices are really good.

A very inviting cafe with a lot of shade. At first it seemed to be a place where you can spend a lot of time without being disturbed. But due to shortage of tables we had to vacate quickly. Had good food at very nominal rates. Milkshakes and juices were blended to perfection. On the whole it is a cool place to hang out.
If you feel like hanging out with your bestie with pocket friendly short eats, then this is surely one of the places you should consider for.
What I ordered - veg tofu burger, bhel puri, veg nuggets. I have no complaints on the quality of the items I got. Veg tofu burger was something indianed version of burger with bread toasted like a pav. Overall a very nice experience. I was really happy when I found that they din't charge anything extra in the name of service tax, vat etc etc :-)
I keep visiting this place very often, say once in 15 or 20 days. Its a perfect place for evening hangout with short eats and coffeeee !!!
I have tried most of their menu, everything seems to be good except the service, i feel the staff could be little attentive and quick. Coz every time i visit i need to wait for 10 -15 mins to clean the table and again few extra mins to take the order... !! there are many times i waited for 10-15 mins and i have directly went in and ordered at the counter.. and staff replies mam, pls have ur seat we will take the order and i be like.. i have been waiting for 15 mins none of them came :(
About the food... Sandwich's are good so the drinks, mocktails and shakes... also chats. A good place and total VFM. And ya as mentioned in previous review, a place targeted for students i do agree with that... as i cud see a group of school and college friends always spending their time.

The place for Srm students to get their quick bites, place has a variety to choose from burgers, chaat sandwiches,tiffen, Indian breads, South Indian food. The juices are pretty expensive. But all in all.. A decent place for a quick grab.
This place is no more under the tree cafe . Earlier they used to serve under the tree now they serve under the shades. The food price is cheaper and it's healthy as well . Staffs in this cafe are very calm . It's a pure veg cafe.
A good place specially for SRM students. Very nearby to SRM University Vadapalani. Ull get nice variety of snacks. Not too costly not too cheap.
