It was a great experience to be there.. you guys did a fair good job . I was little worried if the food will be not , like the typical Srilankan one but it was a great treat to the stomach ..., the flavours of srilanka and the service was extraordinary . This is the right place for all Srilankan food lovers... extremely grateful to u guys for bringing the taste of our hometown to Mogappair .

Foodwalk is a Srilankan restaurant located at West Mogappair, Chennai. I found this restaurant after spending almost a month in Chennai. I visited there with my friends as they were interested in trying Sri Lankan dishes. My expectations were high when it comes to food and was excited to try the dishes as I was starving for my home country food (Sri Lankan). The place is very pleasant and well maintained. The seating arrangement are spacious and neat. This is one of the best place to hangout with friends/family.
We tried number of dishes here.
Coconut Rotty with Coconut Sambol and curried gravy. They served it with more gravy and Katta Sambol too. Sambols are not spicy as in Sri Lanka to attract the local customers. Coconut rotty is perfect, I customized it to make it crispier. I wish Katta sambol is to be more spicy and less sour. Pol Sambol and Dhal are perfect to eat with rotti.
Mixed Rice with chillie paste. I was starving to have a proper Fried rice since I came to Chennai. We ordered mixed fried rice. The portion was big, and mixed with seafood and tender meat and chicken. They are deliciously blended with good combination of sauces, hot and rapidly served. That chilli paste was best and I can’t get enough of it. I haven’t come across such a tasty chilli paste so far even in Sri Lanka.
Hoppers - This is a traditional, signature dish of SriLankans. And they did the Justice for that. We had with both Sambol and Milk hoppers. Milk hoppers were made from pure fresh coconuts. The hoppers had the crisp, delicate edges and the soft, milky mountain at the center. It’s Perfectly done and a must try dish.
Chicken Kothu is another Signature dish we tried at this restaurant. Kothu was perfectly woked. It had the perfect texture with the combination of chicken and vegetables and flavors. It was less spicy because of its local customers.
Chicken Devil - the secret of the good devil is depends on good quality sauce. They had the best sauce, but wish the chicken as more crispier.
We visited here for the lunch again - tried meals with chicken and Fish. Rice and curry are better than usual Sri Lankan meal and the veggies were perfectly cooked. The price was very reasonable for this dish.
Fruit Salad - Sri Lankan version of Fruit salad with mixed of pineapple, apple, orange, grapes and papaya . We enjoyed it very much.
The dish of the day is The Lavariya. This is a Srilankan version of sweet dumpling. It was very delicious with pure Jaggery and the coconut filling. The taste of jaggery was treat to our taste buds. The dumpling was cooked perfectly. This was a surprising tasty dish for my friends. Can visit this place just for this.
We were quite surprised about their prices. The prices were half of what we expected. All the dishes are less charged comparing to the other restaurants with in this caliber. The owner is a best Anna, he is always cheerful and the servers are super fast with very attractive service.
Overall we had the best time worth for money here. I highly recommend this small establishment to anyone. We’ll be back soon.

A great place to have authentic srilankan food in chennai. I had the dolphin kothu and the Maalu miris with ginger fantasy for my drink. This kothu is an interesting mix of roti pieces, vegetables, curry and cheese. It was delicious and very filling. The maalu miris was also yum. It's a different kind of molagai bhaji with a stuffing which is a must try! I loved the drink too.
There is a good amount of food for the price we pay so it's totally worth it. Overall I was completely satisfied with the food and service. Keep up the good work!

Srilanka food is more in to spicy side. But the hotel may asked before order for spicy or non spicy,which would be really help full for eaters.

I had not done justice to the food by ordering it to home and eating it without heating it. I don't know if it's authentic or not, but I just loved the food. It was different, tasty and affordable.
We started with Naattu Kozhi Soup, though I had expected a light and clear soup, it was a lil thick clear soup. It was good. We ordered for butter chicken and chappathis, Idiyappa Kothhu chicken for main course. Butter chicken because I had read a lot of reviews about how good it was. So decided to try that. Though the chappathis were ready to cook ones available in the market, the butter chicken was delicious. The chicken idiyappa Kothhu was just amazingly delicious. Good quantity for the price. It was nothing like we have had before. Simply superb. For dessert we had vattilappam. No words.. Just woooowwww.. Finished off with Ceylon plain tea with jaggery. All in all a very good experience and happy and satisfied tummy.
Stars of the evening was Chicken Idiyappa Kothhu and Vattilappam. Can't wait to go back and try everything from the menu. Definitely going back.

First of all I should say that this is one of the best restaurants I have been to. A no nonsense and simple place with authentic lankan flavours. We just shifted from Delhi to Chennai and I wanted to surprise my wife who is a Srilankan with some great Srilankan food. The food is certified as great and authentic from people who have tasted this all their life. This speaks for itself. Me being a vegetarian wad so happy with the buffet which was just 139 plus taxes.
Overall the first thing that got me excited in chennai is this restaurant. Please increase your delivery radius to cover places like Kolathur also which will be great. Keep up the great work...

This is one restaurant which I have travelled the furthest just for the sake of food. It was Sri Lankan food which took me so far as you seldom have restaurant's dishing out aromatic Lankan cuisine smeared with garlic, pepper and coconut which are quintessential elements when it comes to Lankan food. Also I would say a little nostalgia was associated as I've grown up with this kind of spread growing up in my childhood.
The place is in a complex which also has KFC. The spacing is large and the ambiance neat. There aren't any gimmicks whatsoever and it's just well laid out with good spacing. They have a very reasonable lunch buffet for just 139 bucks plus taxes which comprises of a number of veg dishes along with rice. You get to order additional items from the menu as well.
For starters, I tried the veg patties and egg rolls both of which I loved a lot more so the former which had a lovely crunchiness to it with the add on of the infused pepper being welcoming. For mains tried both Idiappam and Puttu. The former was extremely soft, fluffy and enjoyable. The puttu however didn't find too much favour with me. For the sides tried veg soya meat kuzhambu and egg curry which proved able foil to the main course and proved to be very good. Also had a shot at the Pol Roti which came with Dal smacked with garlic and the evergreen favourite pol sambol. This I tell you was so enjoyable and rejoiceful. I certainly enjoyed every bite I had of it with the wonderful accompaniments for company.
The service is fairly quick with the food arriving at a decent pace. The rates are fair and competitive. The buffet especially is extremely exiguous and worth the money. If not for the distance constraint, I would surely visit this outlet more often. For now hoping that they bring in outlet in the center of the city. For those who love good Sri Lankan food, Flavours of Lanka is highly recommended.

I had been unfamiliar with the Sri lankan cuisine entirely, but Foodwalk definetely intrigued me to explore this cuisine more!
Firstly, they have a really comforting ambience, not anything fancy or over the top, just spacious and ample lighting! The dishes that I loved and would go there again for are-
Ceylon pancakes : soft, thin pancake rolls with coconut and jaggery stuffing.
Maalu Miris : peppers used in mazhaga bajji, stuffed with dried fish and egg(This sounds weird but tasted like nothing I've ever tried!)
Vattilappan : custard pudding that has a beautiful combination of flavours- coconut, jaggerry and cardamon.
Lankan Pol roti : thick and spiced rotis with a side of dried fish!
Appam with coconut milk : Need I say more!!
Egg appam with chicken side dish : Just as good.
Ceylon tea: This is sugarless Srilankan tea served with jaggerry pieces on the side. It is traditionally served this way as you must first take a bite of the jaggery and then take a sip of the tea. Really
interesting and a good replacement for the white sugar.

Authentic Sri Lankan Cuisine,
Food walk located in Moggapair West above KFC has some authentic Sri Lankan food. So it's a bit similar to Kerala food which we have still tastes a bit different. They have a variety of items to try.
We initially got a Ginger fantasy which had ginger and some sugarcane kind of a taste with it which was refreshing. Maalu Miris (Chicken and egg stuffed inside the bhajji) was different and really good. The mutton rolls were also quite good taste resembled like how my mom would made delicious ones during fasting month. Devil's Squid and Prawns were made from hot and chilly and a tad sweet paste, prawns was really good & squid could have been better.
Kottu rotti & Ceylon parotta were okay not really what I expected though but was different tasting. Loved the Ceylon pancakes and leveriya (Sweet). Butter chicken went really well with the rotis was perfect. Egg Appam was good to have here.
The highlight for me was the tea here. They apparently served with jaggery and a tea with no sugar, and you need to have the jaggery seperately and sip the tea. It was a different style and experience being a tea lover, I loved it which is why I would go here specifically.
Overall if you're looking for some authentic Sri Lankan food try this place and try out the dishes which I have mentioned that I liked you might favour it more ;) ! Cheers

Srilankan pan cake- was amazing
Mallu miris- it is chilli stuffed with chicken n egg ( u don’t get it anywhere else)
Mutta appam:- was sooo good
Pol roti- which was served with dhal and anchovy sambal
Kottu:- their famous

Selection on the menu is limited, considering Lankan food is quite diverse.
Fried Rice with deviled meats is superb; can't say the same about the fresh juices.

The food does justice to the name of the restaurant. Menu covers many of the authentic Sri Lankan dishes. Recommend their fish cutlet, yellow rice and murungakai poricha curry. Deviled fish and chicken fry was a little disappointing. Vatlappam is a must try from the desserts. Service takes some time as the food is prepared to order. But a definite go to place for food that tastes close to home.

During our stay at Colombo, we had tasted the Sri Lankan cuisines, which we missed on return to Chennai. We were overjoyed once we knew about the availability of the Sri Lankan food at FOODWALK in our neighborhood.

Initially thought of going to KFC but found this restaurant on top floor of KFC. The food and ambience is descent(hope they maintain the taste and quality consistently). My fav dish is fish curry(kind of unique).

Decent fare but could be a bit better with some fresh meat. Wouldn't complain much though.
The service waiters attitude could probably had been a bit better. I just thought the guy who served us was a bit impolite and was sulking along. We expect service with a smile. If not at least do not sulk.
The special fried rice was the best dish we ordered but the meat portion could had been more and the freshness was lacking in a couple of meats.
Certainly worth visiting again...
I tried chicken briyani, it was like homemade but initially I was satisfied with the chicken they gave me, so I asked them and I was given a proper amount. Briyani with tax costs around 120. The ambience is killer with a very near arrangement of tables and chairs. I like the way food was served :) Check this shop out if you are bored of very common style of cuisines :)

Hi there.. accidental visit to this restaurant for lunch! Before detailing the experience, I ll run through the standard inventory:
Parking: limited slots for two wheeler on the curb, say 7 to 8. However you get to have a manned, exclusive basement for parking 4 wheelers(7~8 slots) which could also accommodate few two wheelers. So.. not much of a hassle!
Access: located at the first floor. A well functioning 6 passenger elevator is available, right from the basement.
Dining hall: the dining hall is a little spacious though, however about 55~56 ppl can dine at a time (considering the seat count). Wondering if the waiting could be more, had it been full house.
Both, al-a-carte and buffet dining are available. However, there are menu reservations for buffet (subject to flavour of the day)
Today's lunch buffet: unlimited veg meals at Rs.99 /- only. (Plain boiled rice, dal, eggplant curry, beans koottu, vazhaipoo poriyal, rasam, appalam, pickle). anyday, you get to have this menu, however vegetables would vary.
Menu options for al-a-carte: refer pics for exclusive dishes and offer (now in vogue)
Washrooms: seperate lavatory for men/women.
Overall experience: Good, but not great, considering below factors:-
Sanity (hygiene): ok, but could be improved (considering house keeping of washrooms and dining area)
Ambience: Decent and Fairly maintained. But not exuberant.
Amenities: Free wi fi available (password on request)
Quantity of serving: moderate (depending on the dish. For rice and kotthu dishes, quantity seems to be adequate for average eaters ;) ), but meat portions are limited for the price tag.
Taste: Good (But not sure if it's authentic)
Must try: Ceylon parotta, Mutton kotthu, fish recipes. (Apologies! I haven't tried any beverages/desert, though :) )

1. authentic srilankan tea powder packets and jaggery available for sale at the reception table.
2. Offer (refer pic): buy one, get one free on the item (offer item available on that weekday)
Walk in and it has a little bit of the Sri Lankan vibe!! The food was absolutely delicious, great Sri Lankan flavour. Would recommend this place if you're up for Sri Lankan dishes. Especially loved the coconut sambol and fried plantains.
Srilankan Devil SPL. Rice was very tasty with a platter of Sea foods such as Fish, Crab, Squid and then Chicken. Half portion will do for two people.
Dessert VATTILAPPAM was very yummy and traditional.
Appam was also tasty with chicken curry and coconut milk.
The dishes are well made. The rice items, porotta and the crab masala was well made. The squid item was too sweet with too much sauce. Also too much onion in it than squid.
Neat restaurant, worth for money, Srilankan style foods... Especially biriyani tastes good...

It was a little hard finding the spot and had to take a number of small streets to get there using Google maps. The parking is in the basement. The restaurant is cozy but but busy at 7.30 pm. The food took a while to get to us but it was fresh and different from the usual fare. The devil chicken is really good and spicy. We ordered a second helping of it as we couldn't get enough of it.

A refreshing change to the normal cuisines available in Chennai, one of those few places in Chennai that can boast of offering an unique flavour right from starters to deserts, simple food tasting but very unique. Just loved this place.
Spacious and very good ambience. Pricing is reasonable and service is also very good. You can avail free WiFi while you dining. Have a great variety of Sri Lankan delicacies. One of the must try is the 'Pal Aappam'. Right on the main road and easy to notice(Above KFC). Have sufficient underground parking for cars and two wheelers.
