After a few of my friends suggested me to try out the biryani here, as they said it has a "marriage walla biryani taste" as the name suggests, i gave it a shot.
So i loved the biryani taste here, even the Mutton pieces were nicely cooked and tender. Even the chicken biryani has a really nice flavor. Haven't tried their 65 biryani yet.
Haven't been to the restaurant, so can't comment anything on the ambience or dine in experience.
Only con is the price we are paying is pretty high for the quantity of biryani. Although the taste of the biryani is amazing and u won't be disappointed.

This Place was So Famous due to their Briyani Style and Taste so went here to Check about that and it was damn True.
1. Chicken 65 Briyani : The Briyani Tasted like the one you get in your Friends Marriage or After Ramzan cause it was so good and the Briyani Literally melted in my mouth. The Chicken was Heaven Crispy and Tasty but in the same time the Spice level is also Controlled.
The Best Part is you get a Sweet which is Unlimited and that's their signature finishing dish.

The Place gets crowded during lunch hours cause they are pretty famous around here. But Seats will always be available cause this place is pretty huge.

I'd say their Service is the Best cause no matter how many time you call the waiter for Onion Raitha or Curry or Sweet he'll be serving you and I got like 4 Scoops of Sweet while finishing.

One of the better spots in the city for Biryanis. Located right on the main road with decent two-wheeler parking space. Biryani served on a banana leaf with a sweet, gravy and a Raitha.
Chicken Biryani โ Have tried CB at many places and comparatively speaking this place too serves tender meat with kicky spice. The rice was well cooked and put aside the bones, the biryani was so good.
Mutton Biryani โ Though there wasnโt much meat, the mutton was succulent, juicy and better than the CB. The gravy was much different from other places; typical sweet to begin/end the meal with.
No hassles with service. The only complaint which I felt was the price. Lately in Chennai there have been many Biryani joints serving just one plate with great taste and quantity, but this place is on the higher side for the serving size.
The food is good . And they serving the food is also good. They are keeping the place clean and the cost is normal and the food quantity is also more .. #foodie..
Kalyana Bhavan Biryani - In between a Muslim wedding Biryani and Typical Chennai Biryani. We cannot it move it to either of the category fully.
The flavor was 65% matching with Muslim Wedding Biryani and 35% Chennai Biryani, because, it was more spicy than a wedding biryani.
Coming to the Price, It was not having the quantity compared to the Price, but the Taste was good, but not wonderful. Not enough pieces on the biryani, which was a little disappointing. Also, the pieces available is mostly full of bones. No much flesh.
Coming to chicken 65, It is not boneless. Also, the quantity is comparitively lesser.
If you want to have the flavor of both Chennai and Bhai Biryani, you can go for it.
The location was in a congested area due to which, you cannot go on car and have a lunch. Either, you have to go to get a parcel or to park somewhere else and come here for Dining in.

The biriyani served tastes like the same that is served in marriages of Tamilnadu muslims. One portion of biriyani will make your tummy full. The pieces of mutton are good, soft and juicy. Little over your budget but worth visiting.

It's always pleasure to be in Kalyana bhavan. What a biriyani ...so light ..so yummy and amazing brinjal to go with ..mutton pieces were cooked at its best and literally melting in mouth. Had some service issues due to lack of man power .. fantastic chicken 65.. so crispy outside and soft inside with some amazing masala mix. Perfect combination for biriyani. Never miss this place if you are around Egmore .. they have also opened a new branch near Creams road it seems. Must visit place when it comes to biryani... Dont expect great ambience... But taste wise no compromise

I am a big fan of the Muslim style Shaadi Biryani that is quiet popular in Tamil Nadu. Kalyanam in Tamil means Shaadi and this style of biryani is something that is served in all Tamil Muslim weddings. While the taste of the biryani is one thing that we will talk more about, it is that community feeling of sitting together and sharing a wonderful meal together, that one has to experience in a nikkah.
For small gatherings and parties exceeding 50 pax, father-in-law used to order from a person who has been making our festivities special through his biryani, it used to be out of the world, you can see my Chennai Feel 2020 highlights to see glimpses of that biryani.
But for smaller family lunches our go to place for a Muslim style shaadi biryani would be Kalyana Bhavan Biryani located in Egmore, Chennai. On a recent visit to Chennai, we stopped by Kalyana Bhavan Biryani and picked up Chicken and Mutton biryanis, along with a portion of fish fry, for lunch.
For someone who enjoys cooking, let me tell you how difficult it is for this biryani style to go wrong, one extra tomato, people would pass it off as tomato rice. It is extremely difficult to achieve that fine balance between your biryani tasting like one and getting insulted as tomato rice. The people here at Kalyana Bhavan Biryani have nailed that perfect balance and on a recent visit I tasted both the mutton and chicken 65 biryani and both were fabulous. Hardcore Biryani lovers, know that the flavor of the meat has to be imbibed into the rice, otherwise it is just plain pulao. In fact there is a wider claim that Biryani is always made with mutton and chicken biryani is just pulao. I personally preferred the Mutton biryani more than the chicken, as it had more depth of flavor, with a meaty aroma that you are bound to experience.
Though the fish fry was claimed to be a seer / King fish, family members who tasted it felt it was not seer and might be a different type of fish. Could not connect as I did not try it.
Overall a great place with consistent quality over the years, definitely would recommend Kalyana Bhavan Biryani to anyone who loves a traditional Muslim style Shaadi biryani.

Biryani is quite standard and has a consistent taste, aroma and flavour. Meat is well cooked. They serve semiya halwa instead of bread halwa as a dessert which is quite good.
One of the best biriyani in chennai. Served on banana leaf and taste was authentic. On friday's they open at 1.30PM only after their prayer. But people wait outside to taste it. Good service and worth the money.

Last visited 5 years back near beach station. Now by surprise I found this location, the chicken and mutton biryani was very good with correct spices and not over powering.

This place was a bit difficult to find but it has a car park. It was a very simple place,not fine dine with a straight forward menu containg biriyani for the main dish and chicken 65 for sides. Ordered both,so they serve on banana leaf with accompaniment like raitha and brinjal gravy.you start of with a sweet.the biriyani was very tasty it does taste like wedding biriyani to an extent let's say closest you can get to one without attending a wedding the chicken 65 was good nothing extraordinary.the price was decent and affordable a good place to order from or go for a nice Sunday biriyani.

Cooked with basmathi rice, you could feel the taste is almost same as u get in marriage briyani...
