Reasonable price and normal ambiance
The restaurant is present for some years. It has a ambiance of normal fast food. Chilli beef was very good along with chicken fried rice. Mutton sheek roll was nice. Price is very nominal and order served in time
Al-Najeeb Nawab Of Kebab, As the name suggests is known for kebabs, Biriyani, Shawarma and other meat dishes. This food joint ruled the secretariat colony and surrounding areas as there was no tough competitor to counter them. This lead to over confidence in the management and staff of Al Najeeb resulting in bad customer service and arrogant replies to customers. Though management was able to mint lot of money, they did not care about improving hygiene in the eatery and providing comfortable seating to customers visiting food joint.
This people forget the saying " Customer is god" and finally paying price now as recently opened food joints are providing same quality food for much lesser prices and also receiving the customers well unlike Al Najeeb. One can notice that its no longer crowded like before because people have options like zomato to order food and other food joints are also picking up. Its high time old bakras take retirement and give management to their next generation.
Been visiting this place for the last 20 years as it’s right down my street. The one dish that gets me coming back here after all these years has to be their Sheek Kebab roll (Beef). This is the most tasty dish you’ll find here, while the other dishes are regular fast food dishes. They had upgraded this roll to a Jumbo Roll, that had 2 Sheek kebabs within it. You still can order the single roll if you don’t have a big appetite. The quantity is more than other fast food places for the price you pay.
Few other dishes that I have tried and order regularly are their Chicken Fried Rice, Chicken Tikka Roll, Rumali Rotis and Veal Kebab.
Ordered tandoori and shawarma..was hot and super tasty..shawarma is a must try.👍🏻

The tandoori children was very tasty and chicken was very tender, katti rolls, shawarma were outstanding, the rumali roti was nice, the chicken Briyani was good

I m frst a fan of their small branch near uma complex.. Where u get chicken samosa(rs. 10)and chicken roll( rs.60order for a less oil one).. Delicious, cheap n enuf to fill ur nv / spice cravings..
Today visited their main branch.. Where i can see a lot of house hold women standing for parcel.. They have a gud variety of arab dishes..
Tried sheek kebab.. Which is flavour full, fresh, comes with mint chutney.. Rs.60 worth the money..
Tried their alfam chicken leg, which is too soft, eatable spice,very well cooked .. Rs. 100.. Comes with chutney and mayo(okiesh)
Egg podi mass for rs. 50 is a huge cup of egg.. With nice spices.. Tastes homely.. Take a parota.. Tear it in pieces, mix the egg podimas and add spoons of chicken masala.. Ur heaven is ready maannnn💕💕💃🏻💃🏻

The shop's near my home. Been here for past 8-9 years. One of the best place for kebabs, sheek rolls and Chinese dishes in the city. The sheek rolls are unique, even shops in Royapettah lack the taste served here. Kebabs are cooked fine, haven't seen any half-cooked/over-cooked kebabs from here(usually happens in many places). Coming to the fried rice, here they don't make it with Indian Masala. You can find a good mix of Chinese and little bit of Indian flavor in the fried rice/noodles. Talking about the rest, i.e. biriyani and Arabian cuisine dishes. They are okaish, I don't prefer these things from here.
This place is good for take away..it's kinda crowded during peak hours.. they have a new outlet for rolls and samosa now. The new outlet is quite small n it's only for take away..it is located near Kelly's signal. Must say..they serve the best rolls..chicken rolls are fab.. samosas are must try..! I kind of like the new al-najeeb than D old one.. they have limited options but those are yumm..!! Have u been there yet?? Comment if you've been der..! :)

I have not scene this place being featured in "The best biriyani in Chennai" listings, but I tell you, their biriyani is superb. My rating is only for their Biriyani. One of the very few places where you get beef biriyani, and it tastes just awesome. The meat is so well cooked and rice is also full of flavour. They have chicken and mutton biriyani also. Go try it and you'll love it.
Food is way too good.. The quality and the quantity is good! People who are interested in dine and eat should not go there. Customer's service is bad.

This place is great for people who wants to eat good food for a nominal price. Biryani, Seekh rolls & Shawarma are nice. This place is easy on pockets.
Ambience isn't that good but I'm pretty sure they can renovate it and make it look just "wow".
A hidden gem located in kilpauk..!😇 I regret for not knowing this place for long.. located in a busy junction, even parking ur bike is difficult🚗

Eaten here several times and got takeaway. They serve good kebabs, Indian breads, rolls and biryani. The chinese items are also decent. The place is not very clean though for eating in. It's suitable for takeaway.
So what was I thinking? If this is a place which sells authentic shawarmas? Not really! But I would say that the food is good!
Grills, tandoori, shawarmas, biryani, fried rice, and kebabs some of the most common and best selling item at this place. Good food , worth every penny you pay! It's just that, they never compromise on quality!

I'm a great fan of their alfaham bbq. They have four varieties. One of the best chilly beefs I've ever tasted in Chennai. Not to forget their delicious seekh kebab.
It is always crowded. Have dined in there few times as well. They definitely require more service staff.

I have tried this place couple of times. Their barbecue, grill and Tandoori dishes are very good and that too at a reasonable cost. You will find a lot of crowd waiting for takeaway during weekend evenings. I was very annoyed by the old man sitting at the counter. He was very rude in behavior and got into an argument with me. Only when I gave it back to him, he kept quite. The other guy supervising the kitchen came up and settled the dispute. Such arrogance should be avoided and they will start loosing customers if this guy is not replaced. No complaints on the food. Will surely go again.

It's a Hit. It's a Miss. That's the experience sum up at Al-Najeeb, always. Whenever I'm in this area and have that strong craving for Biryani, I go here preferably by 12 itself.
The days when it's a hit, it's a super hit. Their Brinjal Chops too is damn good. I settle either for Chicken or Mutton Biryani mostly - Long Grained Rice, perfectly spiced with good amount of Soft Meat. Awesome! And the quantity is huge. But the day it's a miss, you end up regretting going to this place. Yet, you'll be pulled back again when you are in this area.
The Chicken 65 is a package of something that shouldn't be. Big Chunks of meat marinated in artificial colour that leaves mark in your fingers. No no.. Don't make that face... I still love their Chicken 65 and my confirmed order when I'm here for Biryani.
This place is actually quiet famous for it's Veal and other types of Kebabs in the evening. And their Beef Biryani is in most demand. People who are hygiene freaks, please stay away. It's a small place, Non-Ac, but I somehow like this place. Can't explain few things in life, can we? 😛
Has one of the best shawarmas in chennai...especially the special Shaw arm a... The grilled chicken and the kababs here are excellent....rumali roti is lovely here.....biryani and fried rice also is great

Went to this place with my buddies for dinner as one of the friend suggested that they make some good kebabs, since I was I mood for it, said ok.
Our orders
- chicken shekh kebab roll
- chicken hariyali kebab
- chicken wings
- chicken kathi roll
- schezwan chicken rice
Now coming to how things tasted, Sheikh kebab roll, first bite I had a mouth filled with a piece of romali roti few sliced onion and a chunk of kebab. I felt the kebab was a bit dry but I felt I was wrong when dug into the next bite when had and chunk of kebab wrapped around a layer of mint chutney and few onions, well I should say it tasted heaven the second time. Totally loved it.
Next tried their hariyali kebab(5pcs). A dark greenish looking kebab, from the look I expected it would have some flavours of mint but I was wrong it was just the colour( not sure if they had added any coloring agents). The chicken was moist though but taste wise I did not like it much, somehow finished them off with the complimentary mint chutney given.
Chicken wings(6 to 8 PCs)- wings marinated in 65 masala and deep fried in oil. Tasted OK but nothing much to talk about.
Tried the chicken kathi roll next. This was the very first time I tasted it. Shredded chicken, onion and capsicum all mixed together into a reddish gravy, kept in a romali roti and wrapped around. Tasted really good, liked the saucy consistency of it, perfect for a roll. One of my friend said it would taste sour but I felt it had well balanced spices.
Fried rice- Typical street side style with enough spice and salt. It had generous amount of chicken in it and that tasted good. Also it had equal amounts of carrot and beans which I did not expect on a chicken variant of fried rice. Overall it was to good to munch over some rice after a kebab parade !!!!

All I had from this restaurant is a Sheek Kebab Roll and I tell ya, after very long time I had the yummiest Kebab roll cuz usually wen I order Kebab rolls from any other restaurants, they would usually have the roll with the Kubush but this restaurant had the roll in Rumali Roti which reminded me of the roll that my dad used to bring from one of kebab corners in Mannady.. This roll reminded me of my childhood... It was delicious except the raw onions cuz I ain't a fan of raw onions.. And the chutney was super spicy, I wish the restaurant could lower the level of spiciness in the chutney.... It was amazing overall...

Finally got to try food from this place today. Had their shawarma and tasted their tandoori chicken. The shawarma was really good but heavy on the stomach. The chicken was superb and amazing.
A perfect restaurant for Street food lovers, love to have sheek , shwarma , grill , Barbeque, beef biryani and rolls. Ambience is not good however Street food lovers no need of it.
While the kebabs, rolls are too good., Biriyani, rice and noodles are disappointing.
Veel Kabab is the best of the lot.
Grill Chicken, Sheek rolls are also too good.
Has been in my repeat list recently, Al Najeeb might not be good for lunch, but its a perfect Non Veg pocket friendly evening eat out place !

I am not a big fan of south indian or indian non-veg cusine nor a fan of open kitchens. So I have been pushing this visit for a longtime.
#Take away :
Location - It is on the kelly roads entering towards secretariat colony in kellys. It is a rather busy place, car parking was a slight hassle.
Ambience - The first thing to see is the kitchen. It is an open kitchen,well organised and efficient. The seating area is neat, organised and well light. (The one gripe about the kitchen was people making the food or packing the food can use gloves from a hygiene perspective)
Food -
Chicken Biryani - The Biryani was good, excellent quantity, chicken was juicy and rice was well spiced.
Haryali Chicken - Loved it! This was excellent for someone who does not like tandoori all that much I really went through it in a hurry.
Chicken 65 - It was the generic chicken 65 the pieces were a little bigger but tasted the same. Slightly dry stuck to my throat a bit,still was good.
Spl. Chicken Sharwama - Loved it, the chicken in the roll was roasted well and it had a great taste to it. Also the quantity is excellent almost fills you up!
Service - Old school and efficient, the person packing was doing a lot of work. He should consider using gloves especially while making all the rolls. Service was quick considering how busy it was also waiting for it was fun watching the kitchen operate!
Food - 4.0 ( good quanity and suprisingly good quality)
Ambience - 3.5 (Neat and comfortable, hygiene while not bad can improve)
Service - 4.5 (Efficient and courteous)
Value for money - 5 ( This is the cherry on top, excellent value considering other hotels in kilpauk area.)

I really loved ths place. Chicken pakoda, chicken Samosa, thangadi kebab were really awesome. Shewarma alone little disappointing. Overall a best place to dine
I was introduced to the kebabs at Al Najeeb almost a decade ago during my college days. A lot of my friends used to stay in the vicinity and this used to be a regular spot for dinner.
Back then we could stuff ourselves for about 150-200 bucks. Been having the Sheek Kebab which was just 25 bucks back then. Thier mint chutney is superb. Thick and not too watery which would ruin the taste. Meat was succulent and spot on. There would be so much crowd baying for meat in front of the counter that getting take away always used to be a task.
Other things that I loved from Al Najeeb was having Romali roti with Egg curry and their variety of fried rices. We have had most of what was on their menu. Glad to see it rated quite high on zomato.
Expect nothing in terms of ambiance while service might be lacklustre and slow. Delicious kebabs at affordable pricing is what you can and should expect from here.

This is one of the finest places to have Kebab.
Eventhough its a small restaurant ,their kebabs are to die for..its a bit crowded always and sometimes it's a long wait.

Thier sheek kebab and veal kebab is a die for.... Sheek roll is a must try. Shawarma is bit let down. As the rotti was chewy. Noodles were good and flavoursome.
You get the best biriyani here. Their kebabs are heavenly. Shawarma, rolls is a must try. This place is been there for quite a long time . This place is known for take aways. The rates are also reasonable. As a whole this is a great place. It's a must try!
Name itself says " Nawab of kebab" so what else we can say beyond that yep their kebab tastes yummy nd delicious. That too sheek wow really yummy one ,whn it cms to bbq price seems to be very high equal to zaitoon but taste is marvellous . If u love kebabs then should definitely go to al najeeb nothing else is equal to its taste . Be first to collect ur foods or else u will be disappointed back by empty hands.
Okay so it was a lazy evening and me and my friend wanted to eat safe in one of our well known places al najeeb! Ordered chicken katti roll, romali shawarma, chicken fried rice and gobi Manchurian! Wonderful taste :)
Been there tons of times!! Very good shawarma's, kebabs and rolls! Not a lot of options for vegetarians! But, what can you expect vegan from a kebab place anyway? :D wonderful flavours, nominal rates and its near my friend's place! Adds to ease of access :P
the overall ambience can be increased, but in most cases, if an eatery develops their interiors, it usually leads to increase pricing as well! Which is a definite no-no for people like me in a tight budget! :P so if you are a hygiene expecting person, go for a take out :)

Since they're giving you their traditional taste in an affordable price, you cannot expect a better service.
Don't expect the service, expect the real traditional taste of sheek, kebab, grill, shawarma.
This is a good place for all types of dry chicken starters. They only start cooking certain varieties mid day.
The shawarma here is also pretty good, amd filling. It is a bit pricey though - 100rs.

Tried mutton kebab (₹130) it’s good taste. Value for money. Spacious eating area. But no AC and the walls and floors looks dirty. Card facility is not available
This is my go to place for Kebabs since 2006 and it's still my favourite. The missing one star is for sometimes when the place is busy your order will be delayed much and I've seen people leave in frustration without having anything. They could improve on that. Rest all Good.

Fantastic food... Barbeque were just melting... Veal was also very nice..
Really good food and tasty but abeyance is simple and worker are very lassy, all are other languages so quite difficult to Convention.
This place is our gang’s favourite spot for dinner, we don’t meet very often so whenever we meet up we use to go to this place
The really problem is service at peak hours the place run short suppliers and those suppliers service we can’t say that’s good service.
One of the best place to try kebab’s , shawarma and grill.
Not to miss their signature veal kebab if you are big fan of beef.
