Nestled in the lush green avenue of santhi colony, this restaurant is very easy to miss if not for it's popularity!! Well known for its rustic, healthy food prem's grama bhojanam didn't falter to live upto it's popularity!! We started off with their tomato soup which was soothing on the throat and the crispy vadams were a nice addition!! Their mushroom pepper fry was also good!!! On to the main course we had the variety rice of the day, keerai sadham made of millets and served with a Kari!! Despite the huge quantity, the rice was light on the tummy and was mildy seasoned!!! Lastly, the panagam was also nice!! I loved the way they served Tulsi water instead of regular water!! Overall, a good place well within budget!
Prems graama bhojanam, Anna Nagar, Chennai.
And this traditionally done up place has the most yummiest and healthy food. The all health food place. Serves food that is made with millet only. Did you know that millet is complex carbs and takes long to digest and hence you will not put on weight as quickly as you do when you eat simple carbs like rice.
At prems they do not use maida or any refined flour, no white sugar, no vanaspati, no colour, no artificial flavours, no preservatives and no soda. Everything you eat here is natural and full of goodness. They use only ghee and rice bran oil for cooking.
The most softest idly is made not of rice but of millets. Dosa are made using black rice, red rice, Bajra, and different varieties of millets.
Kulfi the dessert is made using palm jaggery and dry fruits and served in earthen pot!
End of it could not ask for anything more healthy.
Mr Krishna Murthy the brain behind this wonderful concept of healthy eating has a wealth of knowledge about these foods. Do meet him on your visit if he is there. You will know more about what you eat!
Anna Nagar, and when I'm there, it is quite confusing to choose from so many wonderful options for food. There are so many places I haven't visited yet, but somehow I was in a mood for vegetarian food, couldn't think beyond Prems Graama Bhojanam. Me and a friend dropped in around 2PM and Mr. Krishnamoorthi, owner of Prems Graama Bhojanam was there too. He asked us if we'd like to try some new additions to the menu, we couldn't be happier. Ragi Pakora, Tawa-fried Sweet Potato with Allam Chutney (aka Ginger chutney), Cutlets, and Apollo Paneer (inspired by the Hyderabadi Apollo Fish).
Ragi Pakora was yummy, crispy and very tasty. The quantity was quite a lot for a serving. Tawa-fried Sweet Potato tasted good with the ginger chutney, I felt it could have been a bit spicier by itself. I was told it was a hit with kids. The cutlet had sweet potato, and channa I think, tasted very good. The showstopper was the Apollo Paneer, We loved it! The paneer was extremely soft and the Andhraish touch from the chillies was mindblowing. This was yet to be included in the menu we were told. It ended up as complimentary :)
After all these, myself and a friend decided to share a meal between us. We got a small portion of soup, just to taste. As usual, tasted very good. The meal had a Thinai Rava Kesari which was a fitting end to the wonderful meal !
I would gladly come back anytime if I have vegetarian food in mind ! The bill was about 315 in all, excluding the Apollo Paneer.
Great place for trying some local healthy cuisine. They use variety of rice and millets and offer a wide choice of items.
The decor is vibrant yet soothing and the service was prompt.
I ordered their limited thali which unlike is name is not short on quantity. All items were delicious and even though I wanted to, I couldn't finish the whole thing!
This place provides us with authentic dishes from southern parts of India starting from spinach/veggie soups,millet/spinach based starters, millets based main course((including dosa varieties, briyani and pongal) and desserts..Would say go here to have a feel at place with village based cultery and look
I enjoyed all the fud that I ordered.... biryani, kaara dosai and akki roti.... even the.water served had an appetising aroma... may b elaichi flavoured .. prepared with milltes the fud is not only healthy but also gave an idea of how tasty healthy fud can b prepared too... the servers were very polite n smiling ... ambience very calm n simple... definitely a gud place for vegetarians around Annanagar....
A healthy eat out option. Many food items are millet, ragi based.
Serves only lunch and dinner , but no break fast.
Lunch meals costs around 160. If not for meals you have other options like millet biryani, ragi Chapati, millet curd rice etc.
Overall very healthy and tasty.
You can pack food to home too and on your containers from home as well if you wish to avoid aluminium foil and plastic bag for packing
I've gone here with my friend for the first time and the ambience is very calm and eye soothing. The food here is very delicious and they used different rice in it which is healthy. The water also tatsted different as they added something in it. One can enjoy healthy and delicious food here.
Food was not much great because Davangere benne dosa was not in its original style and taste. The ambience and people are very grateful and nice. I Definitely recommend it for its calm and simple dine.
We Tamilians have good traditional, healthy and tasty food. This place prove that, should appreciate their efforts.
First off I would like to mention that I am a voracious meat eater and not a huge fan of health foods. I wasn't too eager to go to this restaurant even after my wife and my sister both suggested this place. The moment I stepped into the restaurant it felt warm and welcoming. The ambience of the place is incredible. I usually get a bottled water as you can't rely on the quality of the tap water. But, they suggested that we try the regular water and said that you will definitely ask for more. I wasn't sure but once I drank my first sip I was spell bound it tasted like the theertham at Perumal temple and I did ask for more.
Coming to the food, even after all the above things I wasn't sure about food as healthy food automatically means untasty food in my mind. But, boy was I wrong we ordered a lot of things and they were phenomenal.
I really wanted to upload the pics of the food but we forgot to click any. This has never happened I would say the taste of the food mesmerized me. I would definitely be visiting this place again possibly for lunch as they have a different menu then. If you are interested in health foods this is our jam. If you are not sure about health food then this is definitely your starting point. Just walk-in and order anything off the menu you won't be disappointed.
My first experience here today was too good....Very tasty food, Fantastic service, Neat and Clean....will visit again and again.
Very nice place for authentic tamil food. In the dinner menu dosa varieties were of great taste..The ambience was also great.
Fantastic food..very healthy for calorie conscious people and also vegan friendly.. amazing varieties of dishes that makes you want to eat boring millets..gives u some idea of how to cook them as well since I wasn't aware of which millet to use for which dish... Had their speciality Vazhathandu soup (plantain stem)...and icecream..along with their millets rasam sadam, Biriyani, ghee roast etc..their sukku kaappi is a blessing for soar throat..
In first look i thought all foods are served in mud plate but its plastic. Quality is good but taste is missing. Ambience and service is good.
Tasty food. Clean surroundings. Fast service. Couteous.
