Just discovered Harrington road, even though I've lived in Chennai all my life. With the chill weather, walking on the sidewalk was like a scene right outta the movies.
So, stopped by Wangs kitchen for a late lunch. The ambience is pretty nice and neat. Took my favourite seat, which is by the window and I was all set to dig in.
What we had,
- Chicken Manchow soup (one by two - the proper way to order soup😝). It's basically noodle soup which was Hot and we loved it. Tasted brilliant!
- Dragon Chicken, a must must try starter. It was perfect and left us wanting more.
- Chicken Bao, the Chicken stuffing had that beautiful crunch to it, and along with that creamy sauce...So Good!!
- Phuket Fish, the flavours that this dish had were just, WOW. Personal favourite right here.
- Chicken Lollipop, how would I miss this. It was everything you'd expect it to be, lotta sauce AND crunchy!!
- Chicken Momos, went well with the Chilli sauce.
- Grape Goli soda, coz why not.
Couldn't try the rice or noodles, coz we were done for the day! They don't kid around with the quantity here. Complete VFM!
The hospitality here, I seriously did not expect it to be this good. The staff were friendly, Amazing Service!!! We even got to meet the chef which was pretty cool😄
So, I'm definitely going back here. Especially for that Phuket Fish and Dragon chicken and the Soup😍

Chilli beef is my all time favorite dish of wants.This is literally the best chilli beef I have ever had .Thin strips and slices of beef cooked to perfection ,in a juicy spicy sauce

This place was my fav from childhood for chinese. Tge moment i think abt chinese this place comes to ma mind. N it has neva set ma expectations underrated. The food was really fresh n yum. Everythn was served hot n the meat was sooo tender n fresh. The soup was my faviiee. Nd the beef n lamb wer soo tender tat i finished a plate all by myself. Strtin from tge soup till dessert everythn was on point. A must try place.

Dragon style chicken - boneless chicken sweeet and spicy 5. Singapore style prawn 6. Fried ice cream - best till now 7 . Wangs spl fried rice - for all fried rice fans . I was here after a long time and the elegance of wangs kitchen still remains the same. Parking might be a small issue, it's pretty easy to get it from the nearby streets though. The staff were really responsive and the order processing time was pretty much quick.
We started off with the Manchow Soup, the cripsy soup had a very good flavour and a perfect way to start off the meal. The crispy chilli lamb was the best part and ended up being my favourite here. The dragon-styled chicken was doased with the right amount of sweetness, making it yum. The roasted chilli beef was the only disappointment, the beef was hard and really chewy. Something which they need to immediately improve on.
Not being a Bao person generally, I just loved their Chicken Baos. The baos weren't really fluffy and had generous amount of fillings in it. The 'Phuket Fish' was another good shot. The Wangs special noodles accompanied with the manchurian sauce made a good combination. It was delicious and I hardly had any space left for the main course after those heavy and filling starters. Fried icecreams was a big surprise as I never expected it to be that good at wangs kitchen. I am definitely going back here. Recommend! 👍
An amazing place which serves great food for a reasonable rate. Loved pretty much all the dishes. The pepper corn and the chilly paneer were my favourite. They have also introduced bao buns which are super delicious too. The buns are made from scratch by them. 😍

Coming to the bao it was so soft....and they also serve beef now but it was not available at my time of visit...
My only problem was dessert the banana wonton was okyish but the fried icecream was not my favorite.....but other than that everything else was too good...👍

I've been here quite a few times with a bunch of my friends and have always had a nice time.
My friend and I went there for lunch the other day.
We got
- Beef Bao, Cheese and lamb Bao
Having craved door baos for a week now, this was a delight for me. The bao bread was really soft and both the fillings was juicy and completely delicious. These were my favourite dishes for the day.
- Beef fry
I felt like the beef was a bit too crispy than expected and would have liked it better if it were softer in the middle.
- Sweet chilli lamb
The lamb was crispy outside and soft in the inside, the sauce covering it was also really nice
- Chicken Lollipop
I didn't really get any striking flavours from the lollipop
- Dragon Chicken
Was a complete win, with the tasty sauce covering the chicken making it extremely yummy.
- Sesame Chilli Prawns
This was a dish I haven't tried before and they made a really good job with the prawns. **Must try**
- Black bean lamb
Fried lamb with blackbean sauce tasted just as good as the rest of the dishes.
- Fried Ice-cream
This is the first time I've ever tried fried Ice-cream and when it bursted inside my mouth, it got my excited. Tasted amazing.
- Banana Wonton with Ice-cream((Must Try))
This is a new dish that they've introduced. Completely something I've not tried before and loved the concept. My favourite dessert for the afternoon!
Overall, I had a pretty satisfied experience. The staff were very hospitable and the dishes were served on time.
I have eaten here quite a few times and I used to regularly order home delivery till about some time ago.
Thought that we would just order a light meal today and decided on ordering the Non Veg Rice meal which had Chicken Fried Rice, Lollipop 4 pieces, Chicken Manchurian and 1 Pepsi.
The delivery was quite fast as we are located close by and piping hot. The lunch was packed neatly in eco friendly cardboard boxes, except for the chicken Manchurian.
The lollipop was quite crisp and the sauce was a bit over sweet. I would have preferred them to add a bit of chilli sauce which would have enhanced the flavour a bit more.
The fried rice was quite good and mild and would have benefited from a bit of pepper. The chicken in the rice was dipped in corn starch and fried so could feel the crunch when eating the rice. The Chicken Manchurian was a good accompaniment to the rice. Was also given a complimentary Chocolate Brownie.
Good experience enjoyed with my family and friends good atmosphere and tasty food good service by the staff had super Bowl witch was my all time favourite will be going there and will suggest my friends too.

Very much peaceful place to hangout with and every bite will take you to a different country. But the toughest part is that you have to choice your food carefully. Tricky! Very tricky!! 😄

Great place for awesome Chinese, went there with my friends order lollipop and chicken pepper style, though it was spicy I could not control my self it was too good. Then we ordered for man chow rice spl mixed rice chilli chicken gravy it was all well made to our liking..
Wangs used to be our usual lunch spot during office breaks as it was just down the road. A five minutes walk from the office takes us here without any hassle. Unlike the other outlets that I have been to, this one has utilised a lot of natural lighting to give this place a nice cheery vibe!

Service: It was a takeaway order. They were prompt and on time with the food.
Food: The Non veg box. Shehzwan Noodles and Chilli chicken. Loved the combination. Curry was a bit sweet. (I might have gotten the name wrong)
I loved it. I had crispy lamb fry, steamed chicken momos and schezwan chicken fried rice. Interior was nice. And their food was extremely good.

I usually love and prefer packed home cooked food for lunch during work. But I came across this new concept from Wangs called ' MY BOX combo' which is a combo with 20 different dishes in different combinations spread across the week. I selected the vegetarian option and asked them to deliver Veg fried rice and Singapore Chilli Potato. Not a rare combo, eh?
Packaging :
A very compact and neatly packed takeaway box was delivered. Decent quantity was sufficient for a hungry officer aka me.
Food :
Vegetable rice was a bit dry but the yummy Singapore chilli potato made up for the dish. Overall, it was a satisfactory lunch
Price :
Rs. 159+ tax for vegetarian and probably a little more for non vegetarian. Very affordable and yes, value for money indeed.

Wangs Kitchen has always been one of the most affordable yet authentic Chinese chain of restaurants in our city and though I’ve tried almost every one of them, I was certainly intrigued when I was invited for their Chinese New Year 2016 event. Only when I was thinking if there was a dish that I hadn't ordered from Wangs menu, I was told that they have a special menu for this event. If that wasn’t surprising enough, they’ve selected dishes from different provinces to give an experience of China in just one dinner. A couple of foodie friends and I were invited and given below is my take on this event.
The Chinese New Year 2016 event was hosted at Wangs Kitchen’s Chetpet branch. This is the branch in Harrington road, opposite to Costa Coffee and Ox & Tomato. Just like most of it’s other properties, this Wangs shares it’s building space with French Loaf. This actually makes the entrance to Wangs a bit awkward as one would have to pass through French Loaf to get into Wangs. Ambience is the usual one would find in any Wangs Kitchen. Red cushions in dark coloured furnitures with cream coloured walls gives it a simple look. For this new year event, they’ve adorned the place with a couple of balloons and other decorations. The head chef was present to welcome us and we had a lengthy chat with him to know more about the festival and dishes he had planned to cook for us. Post the discussions, we were served a number of dishes from the special menu and here is the list of items we tried.
SOUPS:-
Chicken Red Sky Soup:- This is a thick soup from the Fujian province with sliced Chicken and Shitake Mushrooms with fried onions and bread cubes to top it up. Loved it’s soothing flavour.
Chilly Lemon Fish Ball Soup:- From the Hunan province, this clear soup is a deceptive looking one. Though it looked bland, it was power packed with spices and a lemony tang. The fish balls were good too.
APPETIZERS:-
Creamy Fujian:- This was our first insipid dish of the day. Thinly sliced chicken strips, fried in peppery butter sauce and served with creamy butter sauce. Crispy chicken was cooked perfectly but the sauce could’ve been a bit spicier.
Shanghai Crispy:- From one of the most famous and largest city of China, comes this flavourful appetizer. Sweet and sour spicy star anise flavoured and topped with uncooked chef’s special sauce, we tried both the Chicken and Fish variant. It was out of this world and we loved it.
MAIN COURSE:-
Ton Ton Canton Mein:- Thin soft noodles sautéed with chicken and served with cooked eggs. Though the salt content was considerably less, it went well with the sides.
Hokkien Pineapple Rice:- One dish that made me say ‘You gotta be kidding me’. I was expecting this dish to be sweet but surprisingly it wasn’t sweet and it tasted well with accompaniments.
Hunan Rice in Thai Roasted Chilli:- Probably the best rice dish of the day, this one has Thai roasted chilli and the strong flavour of fish sauce. This was our favourite.
Black Bean Chilli Noodles:- Yet another dish that could’ve tasted brilliant if it wasn’t for the shortage of salt in it. But, as a fan of black bean and chilli Hunan sauce, I liked it.
Sichuan Fried Noodles:- And this one was the winner among the noodles. Ginger’s strong aroma and peanuts that were liberally sprinkled made it an earthy dish.
ACCOMPANIMENTS:-
Shandong Surprise:- From the Shandong province, this chicken based dish had celery and a dash of wine. It lacked the right amount of salt but was pretty yummy.
Spicy Peanut Sauce:- Peanut flavoured dish with Shrimp paste, this fish based accompaniment went really well with the noodles.
Royal Jinan:- My favourite from this section, this is chicken cooked in Nam Prik sauce and coconut milk. The spiciness makes it a beautiful side for any dish.
Cantonese Pineapple and Pepper:- This pineapple and sweet n sour sauce based dish was served with prawns and it was just amazing. I finished the majority of this dish thanks to the fact that it went amazingly well with the Hunan rice.
DESSERTS:-
Fried Ice Cream:- This is one dish I always get in any Chinese restaurant and I must say, the ones from Wangs are one of my favourites. Crispy fried outer with soft and yummy ice cream inside and topped with broken nuts, it’s a dessert no one can resist.
Coconut Dumplings with Ice Cream:- This was something new and tasted somewhat similar to a couple of Indian sweets. Shredded coconut in dumplings, served with a scoop of Vanilla Ice Cream. Nevertheless, it was delicious and I loved it.
Service was a bit on the slower end and I guess it must be because of the fact that the restaurant was busy. The chef was kind enough to spend a considerable amount of time with us and explain the dishes apart from getting our feedbacks. Overall, it was a wonderful experience and this special menu redefined the little knowledge I had of Chinese cuisine by many folds.
The Chinese New Year festival is on till the 28th of February 2016. If you’re a fan of Chinese food, this is a spot that shouldn’t be missed.
On occasion of Chinese New Year, Wangs Kitchen is hosting a special Ala carte menu which isn’t a part of their regular menu, at all their outlets across the city. This festival ends on the 28th of Feb. A couple of us bloggers were invited for a tasting session at their Harrington road, Chetpet outlet.
Suuuiperb food... We loved their offers... Not so pricy and good quantity... We could eat so many varieties and still didn't burn our pockets...

A bit of a regular at this outlet of Wang's. Located on Harrington Road, I went there at a rather odd timing of 5pm that was neither lunch or even an early dinner timing. I had a hunger pan which only Chinese Food could satiate. I love the week long offers that they have to offer. I went on a Thursday.
The order was Chicken Spring Roll and Chilly Potatoes, Wangs Special Fried Rice and Chicken Schezwan Fried Rice, Chilly Paneer Semi Gravy and Schezwan Chicken Semi-Gravy. The portions are large and totally FVM.
Ambience : Dim and comfortable lighting and seating with soothing music in the background.
Tucked behind a building next to lady andal school on Harrington, I never knew there was one on Harrington road though my office is situated there. Me along with another colleague walked thru the road to another restaurant, however landed here. As usual no complaints about the food, we ordered for combo lunch n felt the portion was too less for 2 good appetites... Probably they need to rethink the price point n the pamphlet. My colleague fell flat for the food...... Finally an iced tea to close the sumptuous lunch.

I went with my mother for lunch. Though we have ordered from here before but this was our first dine. Came inside not knowing what to expect. We ordered egg fuyong, singaporean chicken noodles and parsely sauce. They were incredible. The portions were generous and totally worth the money. The noodles were total yum and silky smooth. The sauce was well cooked. Egg fuyong was good too. For desert i decided to try fried ice cream and brownie with ice cream. Fried ice cream was awesome! The texture of the outer layer is soo good. Wonder how they nade the stuff. Frued icecream was basically vanilla ice cream inside a light brownish layer. The brownie with icecream was soo good. The contrast between the hot brownie and cold icecream was brilliant. We ordered blue lagoon for beverage and it was freaking awesome. Now that the food part of it is over. Lets talk about the service. I would give their service a 5/5. They were very polite and helpful. My mother had spilt some of blue lagoon on her plate. The people there saq it while they came to serve us our starters onto our plates. They were so polite that they took the plate and cleaned it. The food was served fast and we didn't have to wait much. Ambience and decor of the place is impressive. Overall, the experience was a good one.

This branch of wangs stands out from rest of the branches of wangs kitchen in terms of ambience, feel.Well its mesmerizing to be here. I actually enjoyed the food more here than in any other branch.Parking is inconvenient due to government intervention. went along with group of new friends and totally enjoyed the conversation along with meal. The only negative point which I marked was ,service was a bit slow and it took more time than usual for dishes to come and get served.
We stay close by and had been here a month after opening and everything, right from the food to the service was average right from the word go. Couple of weeks back, we tried this place again. Since we were totally rushed for time, we ordered the food and made it crystal clear that we need everything ready within 15 mins. We reached on time and only two other tables were occupied and they were winding up. We were served the starters the moment we were settled in and everything followed in a timely fashion. And service was top notch too considering the limited number of diners. We had ordered fried wontons, fried rice, a side dish and American chopsuey and the bill came to 900 and odd. The place seems to have picked up a lot from its initial teething issues, but be warned, its your regular Chinese takeaway food! So if you don't set your expectations too high, you get by just about fine. However, I wonder how it will be during rush hour with their limited number of staff .....

Had been there this Sunday Afternoon for a quick late lunch as me and my friend were on the way to catch a movie! We were checking this place out for the first time and to my amazement even though it don't look very enticing from the inside it's a well done fine dining restaurant - Brownie Point. So moving on, our waiter was a warm pleasant man took our order and when we conveyed our situation of being in a hurry to catch a movie he promised speedy delivery and to our suprise in less than 10 minutes (no joking fellas) they served us our order. But it doesn't here, they got our order wrong - oopsie! We had ordered Chicken Wangs spl rice and Phuket Fish whereas we had been served Veg Wangs Spl Rice and Phuket fish. Yet the food was pretty good so we told them it's ok! The taste, the quality was very good! Yes they have reduced portion size a bit but still two of us were full not over full which their earlier portions would make you feel. So yes the service is a little flaky in this outlet yet the food is still authentic Wangs quality.
My verdict - Pay double attention to your order and give this place a try!
