Been there a couple of times. I enjoyed the food and the ambiance! This restaurent is a MUST if you're looking out for traditional tamil food
We ordered seeraga samba mutton Briyani, mutton soup, crab lollipop, prawn 65, chicken 65 and watermelon juice. Briyani was awesome. Mutton pieces also well cooked. Crab lollipop was crispy and juicy. We liked it very much . Prawns and chicken 65 also equally good. Overall decent food. Ambience also good
I always used to order in karaikudi.. Just Loved this restaurant.. Excellent packing.. Taste is really awesome.. Hope u give some excellent offers..
We ordered chicken biriyani, green chilli chicken (chettinad type) and a non veg meals ! The chicken biriyani was very flavourful with good quantity and number of pieces...the kurma given as side was also good... The non veg meals had a huge spread and they even gave me a special nandu gravy complementary as a part of meals...usually restaurants don't allow people to share meals but these people even served my mom with rice and asked if we wanted extra gravy. The chilli chicken was also very flavourful and yum. The service was tooo good. Such hospitality. Definitely coming back 👍😊

The best place to have authentic chettinad food.
Suggested by Bon_vivant Foodie , this place was nothing short of a great full meal. This is a non veg restaurant predominantly but the variety and taste they provide for vegetarians is surprisingly great. For a group of veg and nv gang this is a grear spot. Also they have decent Chinese food for a chettinad restaurant.Over all a good restaurant with courteous staff. They also have a small party hall fitting around 25 to 30 people in the basement for small parties.
I am a lover of south Indian food so I wanted to try Kaaraikudi. The taste of every Chettinad item we tried was really great. Biryani is the most which I liked. They were very polite with us and was ready to serve everything the way we wanted it. Those who like South Indian meal should really try this place.
The ambience and the food of Karaikudi Ashok Nagar is so good. Standouts are the biryani, mutton Chuka, vanjaram fry, parotta combos. The paintings, the tumblers and plates in brass are very clean and provides a homely feel. But what can be improved is the service, order taken on time and food delivered on time other than that we have to wait for normal water, hot water, bill and if we ask for extra raithas and all. The follow up is really bad.
Very good at taste. And we liked lot. Thanks
The food was awesome. I ordered briyani and a side dish - both tasted great but definitely room for improvement. Side dish cost as much as the briyani but had only about 4-5 tiny pieces of mutton and briyani had only 2-3 small pieces of mutton, one of which was just a giant bone. Id say add more meat to the actual dishes and it would be perfect.

I ordered bucket mutton biriyani for the team lunch and the food was delicious. Everybody loved the taste. Absolutely happy with the food and service and also the hotel was happy to deliver it to the place we wanted. Definitely a 'go back to' place :)
I have been wanting to visit this branch of kaaraikudi for a long time. Finally visited them for dinner with family. I am sure most of you know they are know for their chettinad cuisine. The place is located in the busiest roads of chennai. The place has a decent parking. The ambience is pretty good , with huge vessels like props that adds to the chettinad look. The service was quick and the staff were courteous.
We decided to keep our meal simple for the night so we stuck on to the tiffen varieties. Order some starters of course.
Starters -
Kola urundai - I have recently started eating Mutton and I must say I feel in love with these yummy kola urundai's. Crispy balls with the some flavorful Mutton stuffing was a delight.
Kaaraikudi poricha kozhi - Fried chicken was good. Perfectly marinated and fried chicken can be taken as half / full according to your preference.
Main course-
From the tiffen menu we ordered for idlies , Kal dosa, egg dosa and a garlic Nan from the tandoor. The south Indian tiffen items were served with two varieties of chutney's ( coconut and tomato) and a veg gravy and fish gravy were also served alongside. Apart from this we had ordered the Prawn curry which tasted so good 😍 being a big time prawn lover , I loved the dish.
Definitely a place one should visit with family. The price range is reasonable and the quantity is also good. I hope they add some varieties to their dessert menu. I did not find anything interesting from the desserts so did not really try. I hope they bring in some authentic dessert dish from the chettinad house.
good taste. can give some more quantity for gravies
rice is good but side dish / gravy quantity is less compared to rice

On time delivery, guality food
Non veg meals is a superb budget meal as it serves 2. Gravy items are good to taste with correct proportions. Gives your taste bud a new taste of authentic South Indian food. Sweet(rava kesari) packed with the food needs to be changed to something like milk sweet or any other sweet. Just a suggestion..
xecellent,amazing time managemnt quick delivery
It was a pakka chettinadu style.. the meal was so good and enjoyed it throughout.. any South Indian meal lover should definitely try it.. and also an economical one.. a must try place for a non vegetarian who wants a great tasting food..

Beautiful ambience .Courteous staff , excellent menu, value for money one of the best memories of chennai .Would love to visit again and will recommend this to everyone .Thank you so much.kaaraikudi Team.☺️☺️☺️☺️☺️
Food:
I went after the chicken meals. It was an authentic chettinaad feast. Chicken chukka was the best on the plate while the gravy was good too. There was one boiled egg, one vegetable curry with spinach gravy. Wasn't spicy at all but just alright. Apart from that it was the usual menu with appalam, rasam and buttermilk.
P.S.: The server was kind enough to serve extra rice at no extra cost
Ambience:
The place was filled with chettinaad antiques and displays. Spacious enough with good parking and courteous service. When I dined in there were hardly two tables full.
Price:
Affordable for the taste they serve and worth a visit for the authentic cuisine.
great food...value for money
