We are regular customers to buy sweets and snacks from here. And they are one of the well known outlets in Vadapalani/Virugambakkam area. We tried dinner in the restaurant and it was a good experience and in a lovely ambiance. Service was also good. Hope they continue with Restaurant service more seriously.

Sadly we find Chapattis are not seen in your Menu for Home delivery these days. I don't know why it was removed from the Menu. I have been talking to people at Grand Sweets Amirtham T.Nagar and at Vadapalani to include Chapattis in the Menu. Hope they will take immediate action atleast now.

Hello, Grand Sweets Amirtham, Please be sensitive to your customer's requirements/ comments. You have still not included Chapattis in your Menu. Aloo Chapatti is in your Menu. But not Chapattis with side dish. You are supplying this item, but you have not yet included in your Menu. Why ???
I have spoken to your T Nagar unit and to your Team. But Sadly No Action Yet. We are disappointed. Please do the needful asap.

I keep coming to toys place because of its good simple food, usually attentive service, and decent prices. A bit low on variety, yes, but you may give it a try.

We are regular to Grand sweets if we choose Veg with Good Taste. Starting from Meals, Dosa items , Roti & Gravy are great stuffs to make it for good taste & not too expensive too
If you are searching for authentic southindian rice mixes and spices, this place is for you. Garlic parrupu podi is remarkable. Vattakolambu mix and karuvepellai (curry leaves) mix is must try one.
Apart from these, they have an dine in restaurant with sweets,chats. Overall a good vegetarian combo.

Grand Snacks & Sweets has opened a lot of outlets in Chennai over the years. The Vadapalani Branch opposite to Bharani Hall, Vadapalani, has become a favorite hang out spot for us.
We have become regular customers here. Of late, any day we think of Vegetarian Hotel Food, we end up here. Our regular orders are Sambar rice, Masala Paratta, Idiyappam & Kuzhi Paniyaram, they have been consistent with the taste. Akkaravadisal which they served with Meals during our recent visit was out of the World.
Ambiance is pretty decent, Pleasant for Conversations and Business Meetings.
Service is Average, they will have to work on improving it.

Thali or Mini Meals more or less gets over by 2-2:30 PM & Closing time of 10 pm, are some of the draw backs which needs to be worked upon.

Located on the 100ft road opposite to Big Bazaar this outlet of grand sweets takes the ground floor of an apartment building with some dedicated sufficient parking..opposite to bharani hospital...The restaurant is medium sized one...spacious clean and well maintained...The service is prompt but with the usual arrogant behavior...
Had dosas and idli for breakfast one day...The idlies were soft and fluffy and seemed so fresh and along with good chutneys was really good..the Dosas crispy and tasty too...The sambar was really good in taste..fresh and tasty and a bit towards the sweeter side..
Pricing came to 120 rs for the dosa and 4 idlies...completely worth it...

Grand sweets and snacks has opened lot of outlet throughout the Chennai over years. I liked their sweets. Even snacks are good in few outlet but not fond of their food. Nevertheless whenever I go to Saligrammam to get my serviced car I have dinner here.
This place is easy to locate. Just opposite to Bharani hospital. Opposite to the passport Kendra street. Have ample space to park the vehicles. They have both sweet shop and restaurant which serves chat items, south Indian food etc.
Ambiance is decent and good. Seating in sofa is not great. Table looks higher while sitting in it. Actually it pains after sometime. Service is good. Even speed of delivery of food is good.
I ordered Kanchipuram idly and adai aviyal. Idly is hot and soft. It is accompanied by sambar and thogayal. Idly especially with sambar is excellent. Then came adai which is also good. Aviyal is decent. Will get Coconut oil taste which I don't mind.
Price is reasonable. Value for money.
Kindly note this review and rating is only based on those 2 food items I tried few times. Haven't tried anything else.
Tip to Customers:
1. Choose chair than Sofa for having food comfortably.
2. If you don't like Coconut oil taste in aviyal, try adai with sambar and Coconut chutneys which will also be equally good.

V ordered fa dum briyani nd curd rice.
Afta few mins, the waiter informed dum briyani tooo wasn't available nd he served curd rice.
Curd rice was tooo cold nd de vry appearance wasnt appealing.
So we cancelled it nd ordered fa sambar rice.
To our surprise, the sambar rice tasted so yummy.
It had adequate amount of ghee. Applams were served along wid it.

Basundi takeaway!
It was neatly bottled up in a pot-shaped plastic container. The quantity seemed less, but trust me, you cannot finish just by yourself.
Overall, it was a overly sugar-laden dessert!
Being named as 'kungumapoo basundi', it wasn't garnished with a single strand of saffron and didn't taste different from any normal one.

Editing a week later cz I tried Kachori and samosa there. One word : wow! No oil. Literally no shiny-oil-layer above it. Super-tasty!

Stepped into this place on a rainy day. Ordered Masala Dosa and Idly. I am blown away with their chutney's (Coconut, Pudina & Kara Chutney). It was lip smacking. Idly had little less salt in it, otherwise a good place for Veggies. Remember they close by 9.30 PM though Zomato says open until 10.30 PM.
The Grand sweets my favourite snacks cum evening tiffin place in chennai. I haven't visited saligramam branch much, thought I stayed next to the outlet.
I need not comment something different for this outlet. As I m in pune right now.. after 2 yrs I went to grand sweets the taste, people over there and their nature all are same..I luv grand sweets
Love this place !! Love their idiyappam and kachupuram idli ! Amazing amazing south Indian foods compared to the other outlets ! Worth every penny and their basunthi is to die for !
A simple south Indian restaurant (has recently introduced north Indian dishes in the menu)!!! Love their paniyarams which come with a delicious tomato chutney!! Their chola bhatura is yummilicious!!! They have a decent thali but is a little over priced.. Their soft appams and idiyappams are good.. The parottas taste great with the channa masala that comes along with them!! A little high on the prices!! A good place for a family dinner!!
I was introduced to this place by my running friends. Since then the place has been a regular visit for either lunch or dinner as it is close to my home and work as well. Usually prefer the regular thali for lunch and south indian dishes for dinner. Pretty much decent on the pockets and good quality food compared to the big chain hotel. Would always be a regular place to check-in for a quick and good lunch and/or dinner. The service remains good till date. Hope they don't let both depreciate

I had a bad experience when I went here first when it opened. But now, service has improved alot and food is at par with its other branches. Adai avial is yummy! And to my surprise their paneer butter masala was very good as well. Most of the time they don't have everything that is there on their menu.. Kuzhi paniyaram esp.

Went to GSS to get some sweets for my colleagues. Since it was lunch time, decided to have lunch at their restaurant -Amirtham.
They have limited menu for lunch, 3 types of rices, mini meals, meals, chapathi & parotta. Dosa's, idlies, etc.. Would be available in the evening after 4.
Decided to go with mini meals, which includes 3 rices(Sambar, Lemon & Curd) , chapathi/kurma & payasam. All the items were good, too much ghee on sambar rice. Semiya payasam was too milky, couls be more thicker. Decent quantity for one.
There was only one waiter who served all the tables, when I enquired, came to know that others were on leave. Due to that service was little slow.
Decent ambiance for veg restaurant, around 50 can be accommodated. It was more than half occupied even on the weekday. I guess on weekends, it might be fully occupied.
Enough space for parking few cars & two wheelers. Located on Arcot road, who ever goes from virugambakkam to Vadapalani, located on left hand side, one cannot miss the huge GSS logo.
Took a curd rice parcel for my friend, she liked the curd rice. Got chocolate cake(half milk & half chocolate peda) for colleagues, it costs around 450 per kg. Sweet was gud, everyone liked.
Even their sweets are limited & some of them expensive like rasagulla & Gulab Jamoon costs ₹45 for single piece.
Overall a decent veg restaurant with very limited options for lunch & options are more in the the evening.
The best veg Dum Briyani in the neighborhood!!! I would rate this restaurant for its Dum Briyani itself a 5 star! The veg thali is also very tasty with a lot of items.but for dinner the items are limited ..would be happy if they expand their menu for dinner and breakfast!!!
Not someone who appreciate south indian meal but have to say food was delicious. Prompt service clean n quiet ambiance. Not much options though but still worth a try

Love this place. Not much of options but whatever they have the do it clean. We have been having here for last 3, 4 years and still love going there. I am not a big fan of veg biriyani but the veg biriyani here is out of the world. A must try. Also try their milk in the evening.
