A Dosa Heaven!
Wanted to have a quick dinner before catching a movie at Forum Mall, Decided to try this place as it was quite close by. In hindsight, a good decision!
Food:
The two of us ordered Chapathi, Masala Dosa, Paneer Masala Dosa, Poori and a coffee.
The Chapathi was okayish, the kurma lacked punch, Not something I would order AGAIN.
Next came the Masala Dosa which was MIND BLOWING! the crisp, tasty Dosa with the right amount of a mild potato masala to go with 3 delightful chutneys was just so satisfying.
The Paneer Masala Dosa seems to be their signature dish and it was quite good, the sambar is also pretty decent but the chutneys are just too good, u barely need the sambar.
Poori Masala was quite decent, a good alternative if you get bored of dosas.
I dont drink coffee but based on my friend's inputs its a must-have at this restaurant.
Service:
Fast and Friendly service, the person understood we had a movie to catch so was very quick with the orders, a good experience.
Cost:
Quite Economical, considering the high standards maintained, the total bill came around 330 INR which was defenitely acceptable.
Verdict:
Strongly Recommended!!

This place would be apt for a busy work day lunch.Went there for lunch and ordered plain parotta,
Chilli parotta,fried rice,onion rava dosa,paneer Manchurian and 2 glasses of pomogrenate juice.Everything tasted good and the pomogrenate juice was heavenly.The total bill costed RS.817.With not much fuss the place was good
Wat impressed me here was their types of dosa...Many new varieties like thinai dosa, mudakathan keerai dosa which I had never heard of b4...First was reluctant to buy but then after tasting they were good too..Their poli was also really good😋...Service was good.. nice place to visit over all
One of my regular spot. Almost tried all their dishes. Hygienic and tasty veg food guaranteed all the times.
Service is so good humble staff well co-operative. Any special requests are fulfilled.
My all time favourite is soft dosa and appam coconut milk. Never failed. Also their small onion Uthappam is a master piece. Somehow I am not so happy with their idly. It was not that soft expected from a pure veg chain.
But overall all their menu and service is too good.
Their pomegranate juice is one of their best I believe.
A standard restaurant where one can walk in blindly.

The bright yellow chetinadu style building is a definite indicator that it's a traditional south indian restaurant which serves vegetarian only ! 💯✔
it's located right next to the vadapalani depot. easy to spot out.
It has ample space for car parking.
The ambiance is good, high ceilings and large fans adds up to to the beauty of the building. mosaic flooring giving it the traditional tinch !
since it's a pure vegetarian restaurant, it's not my obvious pic. I've not had any proper meal here even though have crossed and visited this place so many times.

The reason is one ! It's JIGARTHANDA.
You are asking me what's special about their jigarthanda? It has flavours ! right from chocolate to pista ! now how cool is that?
being in chennai where almost we have 10 months of summer (ahem ahem ! true right?) this is one of my most favorite thirst quencher ! adding brownie point to this dish are its healthy too !
they have basundhi made of milk and loads of Almond gum, which acts as a cooling agent ! and ofcourse yummy too !
do try their jigarthanda when you pass by this place

Had been here several time for breakfast.but first time giving my review. The look of restaurant is different from outside.an homely feel structure.dark ambience.art works on walls.i like it.usually i take masala dosa or idly.they serves good quality and decent quantity .
Breakfast place for my aunt and i. Have been coming to the place for many years. Love the ambiance.
Dosa are always great. Vada can be a plus and minus. Idly are the best !!

I'm a crazy fan of South Indian food and once during the floods I went here while my sister craved South Indian during her pregnancy. The service was quick and the food was good too. The only minus point for me is the dozen of black peppers in the medu vada. :p

Location: next to vadapalani bus stop.
My guest from my mangalore visited me and he said he loves our idly, sambar, pongal, vadai etc . That time we had a work near vadapalani in morning and we were about to have our breakfast so I was thinking of wer to take him. That tym this place rang on my head suddenly and I decided to take him here.
So I decided to have mini tiffin and my guest asked what was it? For which I said it ll a combination of all typical South Indian breakfast with sweet, so he also decided to have it.
Mini tiffen came which had small idly soaked in sambar with ghee, masala dosai, one vadai, some pongal, poori with chutney, sambar, urlaikizhangu masala, kesari😄😄.
It was really good to taste especially that sambar which they gave, I loved it 😍💖.
Finally we had one coffee and one horlicks which was again good.
The place has got a good Ambience and elevation like a south Indian home style.
Pricing may be a bit standard here. 💲💰but value for money is justified in quality and taste. Veggies new to chennai are recommended to try this place for South Indian breakfast.
It was just like any other Vasanta Bhavan outlet .Another costly place for veggies. Regular south Indian meal on a hungry afternoon is the filing one. good for evening snacks time...overpriced too. Parking is a pro here.
Jigarthanda is not so good when compared with Murugan Idly's Jigarthanda which cost 50 rs.
Early morning, so hungry and I see this place while I was jogging, thought it would be sad and tasteless food would be served! Still I was hungry right, took my chances, went in and ordered a plate of Idli and another plate of Pongal! To my surprise the idli was so damn yummy and soft! Couldn't resist to ask for another plate, then asked for Pongal and it was yum! The best thing I had only 150rs in my pocket and when the bill came it was just 80 bucks! I mean c'mon such yummy food and dirt cheap! Good restaurant don't have to be costly, but yummy!!! Their food is above the rate level!

Only once I had dinner here. I feel all items were much costlier. Quality is also not good. South Indian dishes were ok to eat. Only ghee flavour taste will be there. North Indian dishes were not have any flavour. Only it will solve hunger. But food should be tasty to eat. Ambiance is neat, maybe they charging for maintenance.
Been here couple of times .Lunch , Breakfast Dinner available with quite a few options .Taste is OK @ affordable price .Quality is average and not as good as it was few years ago .Overall not bad , worth a try
Once in the evening, i was passing by that side. The look of the building attracted me. Thought of trying some snacks and went in.
This place is easy to locate. Ambiance is good. Especially the outer look. Inside it is ok. Lighting is bit poor. Service was quick and good. Tried seeraga samba pongal and lime juice. Both are good. My review is based on that alone.

After a long day of travel and eating 'healthy' food, I was craving for Idlis and crispy dosas. Having tried similar places before I was keen on trying this place.
The name translates to "Our house Vasanta Bhavan" definitely looks very homely. Typical Chettinadu styled home from the outside with tables laid out to accommodate a big crowd which I believe flocks during lunch time.
With a board mentioning their special's - My eyes went on the Chilli Chinese Idli's and Podi Rava Dosai and there was a banner of Jigarthanda outside which already made an impression on me :D
The experience:
Good friendly and attentive service.
I ordered for the Podi Rava dosa, Chilli Chinese idli and Mysore Masala Dosa apart from Jigarthanda to cool it all off.
The chilli chinese idli was fantastic , onions, capsicum, chilli and schezwan sauce was a nice twist to a regular idli.
Rava Podi dosa was overly oily at the bottom of the plate but tasted good. Mysore Masala dosa which was ordered by my aunt was smooth and well done.
Having heard of Jigarthanda, a popular drink in Madurai so many times and even a movie after it I was curious to see what it was. Coming from Hyderabad I could co-orelate this to falooda but this was overly sweet and with very minimal garnish or presentation. A milk+ ice cream+ some syrup + falooda balls in it were the ingredients in it. Would have loved less sugar, more flavor in it to make it a fab drink. Bill was around 400 for all these. I would really like to try out a few more things here for sure during lunch and breakfast hours.
Recommendations:
Apart from the regular idli, pongal, dosa, try their creations like Chilli Chinese idli and podi dosai's
Have visited this hotel many times they have good ambience to dine in the taste is pretty much good. The chettinadu dishes like panigaram etc are too good.

This has always been a major rival of saravana bhavan, and they are worth calling so. Quite crowdy place. Decent variety of food and tastes good.
Economy and good service with a healthy and satisfying quantity. Been there for multitude of breakfast, lunch and dinner meets and get together.
Its very near for me so i visited this place...theyve got nice masala dosas and good chutney...a lil bit expensive but not as expensive as saravana bhavan

Growing sick of vegetarian restaurants near my place , we decided to dine as a family at Namma veedu Vasantha Bhavan. The ambiance was quite ' home-like' , I should say ; with staircases and thus the name ' namma veedu .. '. We went in for the AC Hall and the part that interested me was the Speacial Menu which listed the healthy / different / unheard dishes which we would normally experiment at our homes ( like small onion uthappam, kambu dosa, corn dosa, etc ) . Trust me , those special dishes tasted great and that'll be the sole reason why I would eat at this restaurant for the next few times . The next reason would be JIGARTHANDAA ; delicious and authentic but sugary though .
Ambiance: home-like; tables in the restaurant feel like doing tables at your house .
Pricing : ₹400 for two .
Special mention : Jigarthanda is a must try . ( try the authentic flavor and don't try to mix any flavor of ice-cream into it ) .
P.s: some of the dishes aren't available in all the outlets ( like in the deserts section ) . It will definitely disappoint you !

Tiffen is a Ghumm, best part was they give u 3 chutneys plus 3 different Podis ( Yellu, Paruppu and Galric ) So just imagine the Mixing of all the 6 sides along with Ghee Dosa ...Hmmm

Went at vadapalani branch of vasanta bhavan in chennai for break fast. The food at this hotel is amazing!!!. The breakfast was my favorite named as "cashew pongal with coconut chutney" and "filter coffee". The staff is very fun and friendly.
I'm satisfied. Sure, you will go satisfied undoubtedly.
This restaurant is a good place to have good breakfast and traditional South Indian dishes. Nothing great to specify particularly.
PROS:
* Provides good quality food.
* Good at traditional South Indian food.
CONS:
* Not so good at North Indian Dishes.
* Bad at servicing. Had to wait a lot to give our order and again to get our food. Literally they tested my patience.
* Jigarthanda is not so good when compared with Murugan Idly's Jigarthanda.
Finally a good quality traditional South Indian Hotel i should say...

Been here couple of times earlier. Yesterday went there around 11AM for breakfast.
Located next to vadapalani bus depot, which is a very busy location. They have decent parking space for Two wheelers & around 5-6 cars can be parked.
Nice ambiance for both non AC & AC seating. You will get a feel like you are at chettinad/karaikudi with the interiors.
We have ordered mini meals & Rava Dosa. I were informer that they have 13 types of Rava Dosa itself. We just decided with plain Rava Dosa. It was nice & crispy with 3 chutneys n sambar.
Mini meals had a chapathi/kurma, veg biryani, sambar rice, curd rice, poriyal, sweet n appalam. It was mixed feeling, some of the items like curd rice, biryani were gud & chapathi n sweet were OK. Didn't like the sambar rice by the way. Overall a decent meal.
Service were prompt , which was gud for south Indian hotel.
It costs ₹150 for 2, which was cheaper than similar range of hotels.

We had a dinner at Vasantha Bhawan, It was awesome experience, Had Wheat parotta & Idiyappam with some special gravy, sorry forgot the gravy name, wow still I can feel the taste of gravy,
I bought a sweet packed, but taste is not ok, and sweet box also damaged, not good, Iam at Gujarat now, will be back by next week, will visit again nama vedu hotel for that gravy receipe

The hotel is located at a prime location but the taste is average. For breakfast they have a limited menu and chutney taste needs a lot of improvement. Tea is also not the best for that price range.

Idly Vada was good and served hot.
Mini breakfast combo has proper menu with decent quantity and it comes with mini coffee too.
Vadacurry tasted like homemade and you have to buy it separately.
Food tastes good. Here is the place for authentic veg foods with wooden theme infrastructure. The food here I tasted are chola poori, parotta and onion rava dosa. The price is worth because of the food's quantity and quality. The services also good. It is near by the vadapalani busstand. You can go here by walk. Go and enjoy your food😄.
One of the best place to have morning breakfast and lunch, I like their mini tiffin. Usually I eat once in a while from this restaurant for more than 5 years now and always get a good welcome by few members. The people working there are so awesome. Mainly Mr.Rajendran and Mr.Varadharajan (He now moved to the other branch in vadapalani). I visit often because of the food and the best service by Mr.Rajendran in this branch. A slight renovation might be required as the building getting a bit old in recent time. But, compared to the location, food, service, parking facility this is ok.
Just had a nice eating experience at Vasanta Bhavan, 179, Arcot Road. The food deserves 4 stars but the superb service deserves 5 stars. The waiter N. Murugesan who served us was polite and welcoming. He attended on us from time and time, served food with care and smile. We are happy and will go again for sure. We also recommend it to everyone looking for good food service.
